I fianlly hit goal back in October, and I have managed to maintain. I started lifting weights, and my body is looking lean. I am happy with what I look like, and I dont plan on changing anymore. Just keeping what I have. At first I thought it would be hard to maintain, because old habits you know? But, its going good and after 3 months of maintaining I have confidence that I am strong enough to keep my weight off.

Well a new week things are going great I have introduced veggies into my diet and I am still losing quickly. I am sorry if everyone is worried about my health but it was the perfect jump start I needed. My health at no time was/is in jeopardy I have been taking my supplements and plenty of water/juice I consulted a nutritionists and although they are not crazy about the idea of the diet they gave me very clear suggestions to insure my health was at no time at risk. I must say except with the occasional commment this place has been horrible for support. I have been beat up by alot saying oh your gonna die and be fat again (even though being fat is an express train to death itself) Although I am sure being on of the many that stays fat for years and going up and down losing and gaining is great fun I would rather get rid of it and enjoy my life. I am not ill I have more energy than ever and feel great its nice not to have food be a priority in my life.

Well, I am glad you seem to be happy about what you are doing and it is a relief that you are suplementing your vitamins. I am sorry that you haven't been recieving much support from alot of us, but I suspect you probabaly haven't recieved much from anyone in your life. Starvation is a scary word and it makes people think of death, not life. The fact that you are (or were) using starvation as a vehicle to live is a hard concept for many people (including myself) to grasp. While I still don't particularly support it, I can understand your motivation and I can understand the point you were at when you decided you had to do something fast.

I'm sorry that you haven't received the support that you should from here. We were just concerned. We weren't trying to be mean. I'm glad that you consulted a nutritionist and got facts before you started. We did not know that. We also didn't know that you were taking vitamins. I'm sorry if I wasn't supportive. This is a great site for support. I do apologize. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive.

I seem to be missing something, have you lost around 45 pounds in less than a month?? It appears that you have not gotten a lot of support but I am assuming that you know what you are doing and are being safe about it. Only you know what is best for you and where you are at health wise. Have you had some kind of surgery? I don't mean to be nosy but I would like to hear more about your history. Thanks!

So far I have lost an average of 3 pounds a day. I do want to apologize to Kayla for saying she was silly, I just hate being told what will work for me, or that it is unhealthy when in reality weighing SO much is unhealthy. Also I have noticed that I have suddenly become female on this board when in reality I am male. No need to apologize, you know who you are.

Comment left by feeleebubs on 05/09/2004:
I must say, I don't believe Kayla is the silly one here. Yes, being overweight is unhealthy, but starvation is much, much worse. You cannot live that way. There is nothing healthy about loosing 3 pounds a day, no matter how much you weigh. By starving yourself, you are damaging your body beyond anything weighing 300 pounds could do. You may hate being told what will work for you, so I will just say, that unless your goal is to either die, become very ill, or gain all your weight back, starvation won't work for anyone. Normally I would keep my comment to myself, but what your are doing is so dangerous that I cannot just sit back and watch. It's apperent that nothing anyone says here will make you choose to loose weight the healty (and effective no matter who you are) way. But atleast we tried.

I must agree with some of the others. I know we all can be impatient when it comes to losing weight. We want it gone today not tomorrow. Starving yourself is not the way to do it. Unfortunately, we have to eat to lose. You just have to pick what you eat. You have to teach yourself proper nutrition. I admit I'm not the greatest one at doing this. What is going to happen is when you start eating again your body is going to store the food for survival as fat. You will gain what you lost back and probably more. I'm not trying to be rude because I think this site is an awesome place to find support. I'm just concerned with you're health. I wish you well.

Hi, that's a very impressive loss. I hope you manage to keep it off and remain healthy. However, food isn't only calories, we need vitamins, minerals, and fiber. So if you're planning to drink nothing but juice for a extended period, I hope you're getting some supplements.
Good luck.

Oh Kayla, you sound like a silly girl to me. Of course I mean no offense. Let's just say what works for one, might now work for another. I am feel ing great today, and this weight has really helped me with what use to be restrictive exercise. I walk outside daily, and still no food. I have only had juice and will soon be moving to broth based soups if I cannot handle the hunger. I think my weight is falling off quickly because I just have this extra fat sitting here, I know I will hit a point where it will be hard to do, but for now I will take it while its good!

ah well why on earth would I be offended by being called "a silly girl". Have no worries I wont be bothering you again. but I can't wait to read about how your hair is starting to fall out and your teeth all get loose...and then when you begin eating again how it all comes back and and add an extra 20 pounds...just like when I tried it... lol enjoy!-Kayla

Well its the first day of my so called plan, I am going to eat nothing this week just take some vitamins to keep healthy excercise and drink lots of water. I started this morning and it has been a rough day, I think food is more of a habbit. So after 7 days of this maybe I will add some veggies but I will see where I am then.

Welcome to DD's. I wish you well, but please don't use the starvation method to try to lose weight. My mother did this for years and only got bigger. Read the diaries to see how successful weight losers do it. It's a slow process and you have to adjust your thinking for the long term. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Good luck!

Wonderfalls, that was a great show! Not sure if that is where you might have gotten it.. anyway I agree starvation is not a fun diet plan, and as soon as you start eating again you will put it back on.. I have always kind of been interested in fasting though.. but now I realize that isnt the answer. Well let us know how you are doing! and welcome to DDs!

I want to welcome you to dd. I read the comments you got from the others and I agree. When you starve your body, it will store fat for use. It will then store the food that you eat after you get back to eating because it will prepare itself for the future. We will back you with whatever you want to do. We just want you to go about it the safe way. Losing weight doesn't happen overnight. It is a long slow process. It is hard but it is doable. I have lost twenty already since last August. Yes, I would like to lose it faster but it just won't happen. Good luck to you! I wish you well.

Hi, Wonderfalls. How are you doing? I hope you're okay.
I must say I think starvation is the very worst way to lose weight, even if you manage to do it. It's also the hardest way, unless somebody is keeping you imprisoned in a foodless cell.
If you'd like to try fasting, please get some medical advice first, and see if you can have somebody monitor your health for the duration of the fast.
If you never fasted before, you ought to see first how you respond to a fruit-only day or a juice-only day, and then try to spend a (quiet, not exceedingly active) day on only water. You should also make a plan on how to break the fast gradually, so you don't bring on a sugar crash.
Really, this isn't something you ought to do alone, if at all.
