Ooookay--nothing new, overate most of the time this week but I was also running about a lot, trying to finish all the projects before both I and the Big Boss leave.

Thanks, legcramps! It hasn't been easy, I was so engrossed with work and only about a million problems with my ex (he's an ex for good now, I figure), I hardly paid any attention to food and such.
I'm going on a vacation in two weeks. I've never been so impatient about anything!

Hi, I'm in NYC!

So much is going on I hardly notice what I'm eating these days, but it's not all good and certainly too much. I'm afraid to step on the scale. Adam is leaving next Tuesday and life should go back to normal... or what passes for normal with me, LOL!

Keep that motivation going!

Hello, legcramps! Yeah, I know I'll get there one day, but not this month I don't think! Another hike, maybe the bloat, maybe not, I fell behind with my food diary keeping, and there you go.

Some fluctuations in weight, things are moving slowly, but steadily. I didn't exercise much in the past few days, my knee hurt, I really miss it. I didn't have much appetite either, but still it doesn't seem like I'm losing much if I don't eat. Oh well.

Nothing new, weight stable, mood basically okay.

I'll try to maintain over the next week-ten days. I'm reading how that's tougher than losing, well, been there... Today I had... hmmm
B:
--flaxbread/hummus/turkey/extra lean ham --coffee --peach --kiwi
L:

Dinner, cherries. I'm going out with some friends, but I'm hoping nobody insists on dinner, or I'll just have to excuse myself.

All right, I feel tired and grumpy today, and even the change in weight doesn't make me feel much better: but it will, IT WILL! Think about the next five pounds, not the whole package of 38. Or 39. Sometimes I think (because it's so easy and pleasant to shuffle numbers in your head, you know), well... why not aim for 120? 113? Because I'd be skeletal, that's why. When I lost weight before, I always felt sorry to see my curves go. I'm an apple, and I only have a butt with a few extra pounds.
|
| |
|
Boy, yesterday was tough! I got all depressed and nauseous in the evening, went to bed at nine, woke up this morning at five, had breakfast at six thirty! On a Saturday. Not the best of routines. But yes, my tummy felt nicely empty and lean and the one-size-too-small jeans slid on easily.
Breakfast: turkey and chicken breast/hummus/lettuce on rye, 1/2 bell pepper, coffee, kiwi.
Lunch: peach, mango
Walked too long in the sun and didn't feel like eating what I'd planned. I'll make some green tea now and that will be it for today. Tomorrow I'm taking dad out for lunch, I'm thinking Vietnamese: something herby-flavory. Mint and basil, mmm.
Another great thing: the little weight graph on Fitday moved me from borderline "severe overweight" into the "moderate overweight" category. If I drop into the 160's next week, it'll be the first time since March.

Good for you. Those milestones such as the graph really make a person's day, don't they?

Fasting today, tea and water only. It used to be easy. but now I get bored, which goes to show you half the time I eat as a distraction.
|
| |
|
Whoa, another big change! Wonder which one is "real"... anyway, I writes 'em as I sees 'em, not complaining about a loss. I basically starved the past three days, so there's some water loss in there...
Feeling better, anyway.
I'm going to a Tibetan restaurant with my nephew and his girl today. I'll try to stay away from yak butter. :)
|
| |
|
Hey, Sarah, yes, I brought down the Fitday estimate to a more realistic one by choosing "sedentary" (not bed-ridden, though!), so I trust the numbers more now.
Well, that's a bad hike in weight, but not surprised... I always eat too much around my family and the past ten days were filled with too much family! (I love them all dearly. Only don't feed me again for a month, people.)
|
| |
|
I've been entering the boring food lists on Fitday, so I have little to say here! By the way, I thinhk Fitday way overestimates the energy expenditures, it gave me an average of 2800 calories, when most other places I tried calculate about 2100.
I've been busy, but not in a good way, mostly helping the new people. Mood going south again (tom again), bloating... I dream of having a breast reduction surgery as soon as I reach my goal. Sick of pushing melons in front of me ten days every month! Besides, I'm really beginning to feel the pain in my back, and those extra-strength bras are cutting into my shoulders.
The only question is how to find the time necessary for post-op recovery, I think it's a minimum of three weeks. Oh, well. I'll worry about it when I get there.
|
Comment left by SarahBeth on 06/18/2004:
I agree on FitDay's estimates. That is why I put myself in the sedetary (bedbound) lifestyle, even though that is not the case. It then dropped me down to a reasonable calorie basal burn for what I thought was right for my lifestyle and my metabolism. Maybe you should try that and see if it makes it more reaslistic to you!
Stay strong. And I hear you about the mood. Mine sucks today!!!

No change, coasting along. Had a friend visit, so we ate out and thoroughly indulged ourselves. The trick is to do that stepwise setting of goals, December 24 is so far away that I keep postponing the painful restrictions, lol! "I STILL have 193 days to go" and so on. Well... I also still have 48 pounds to go...
|
| |
|
I made lasagne last night, that should last me three days, and I got more mussel/baby octopus salad from Agata's (expensive, but worth it every now and then...) Saturday I went jogging with a friend, first time in years, I don't like running on concrete, this was in the park. I prefer exercising at home to running about all sweaty and smelly among people, but it was a nice change.

May was a difficult month, what with my nephew's accident, and the new people in the firm. Looking forward to a better June. I'm getting more exercise and the diet is stabilizing, but putting in longer hours means I cook even less than before.

I look and feel like a huge water balloon. Even my fingers feel tense and painful! I had to take off all the rings. I tried some water pills a few years back, but nothing helps, and I already drink a lot of water and tea... I hear cornsilk is supposed to be good for water elimination? This drives me crazy every month. I'd rather have cramps (it seems I exchanged one thing for the other).
Okay, I just have to go through with it...

Hi, feeleebubs and roxy!
Weight still the same, mood better. I'd write about what bugs me, but it seems so petty... Mainly it's that my family seems to think I'm this 24/7 convenience, just because I'm a) single (gee, she's got no RESPONSIBILITIES) b) work in a "easygoing", arty firm (gee, flexible hours, we can call her up and have her run errands WHENEVER.) Okay, it's not that bad, but you get the idea. Plus I'm the youngest, and I guess I'll be the youngest fifty years from now.
Yesterday I went out for a birthday party, we had great Thai. I can't remember what I ate the past week, it's always the same: fish, some greens, fruit... chocolate and cookies... Next weigh-in Monday.
Have a nice day all!
|
| |
|
It's been a dodgy week, with more "excitement" to come... I don't feel like writing about it, but I wish I wasn't "eating" about it either!
Anyway, for the past eight days my average calorie intake was probably about 2000, in other words, no deficit. So as soon as my period starts I'm hoping to take the advantage of the mood uplift and get used to about 1000 calories per day (and hopefully by the next cycle I'll be more able to control the crazy HUNGER). I'm no hummingbird like my mom and sister: these ladies can have cake and cheese sandwiches all day long and LOSE weight. So 1000 calories should give me plenty of energy.

Hard times can sure make you gain weight like crazy can't they? Oddly enough, writing about it really does help me. It keeps my mind off food, helps me organize my thoughts, and has proven to be quite effective in my case at least. Since I've started this diary, and been writing every day, I've lost almost 30 pounds and I'd never had any kind of success before that. And it's not like I'm always writing about food. It helps to get all your thoughts out there, even if it's very personal, I suggest writing it out just to clear your mind. You can always make that entry private.

Hi all, and emily and Umpqua!
Well, I had a crazy week, had to stay with my nephew, and lost track of food, diet, everything, and sure enough, I'm showing two pounds more, but it's also getting close to my period and I blow up like a giant balloon (up to seven-eight pounds), so who knows. Maybe it's not REALLY fat. Arrrgh. I hope.
B: --slice rye + hummus + slice pastrami --coffee --mango
L: --chicken/beef kebab + pita --25 g chocolate
D: --slice rye + lowfat cream cheese + sardines + ginger --tea --2 cookies
Total: 1444
The other day I bought a bag of pickled ginger in a ethnic store and now I have it with almost everything. It's energizing and cleans the palate, especially with all the fish I'm eating. I picked up these and other tips from Dr. Weil, I also use his recipes for lentils, broccoli, salmon etc. But I really should cook more often. At least I try to eat as little processed food as possible, especially sweet and fatty stuff (fast food). Coke is my downfall. And ice cream.

Hi, inmorning! I hope to find some more time soon to catch up with everybody. In the meantime, another boring food entry... I know these are no fun to read (don't expect nobody to read, really), but it actually helps ME choose food if I know other people can see if I'm acting the hog, haha.

L: --chicken noodle soup --soybean salad --sardines (water) --slice bread with lowfat cream cheese --Coke --coffee --2 cookies

Hi fiametta! Thanks very much for your taboulleh tip - I used to make that quite a lot, but had totally forgotten about how nice and easy to make it is - bulgar wheat is so easy compared to rice. Your stats are similar to mine, so I hope to be inspired by your progress! I am one inch shorter and a pound heavier - officially obese :o

Comment left by Umpqua on 05/01/2004:
I actually like reading the food entries, it gives me new ideas about what to make. The bread and cream cheese is something I used to do (with toast) that I'd completely forgotten about. Anyway, good luck to you!

Hi!
My sister told me about this site. I was on Ivillage for a while, but it was very slow and too empty. I tried to lose weight several times over the past couple years, but I guess I wasn't really serious about it, let's see if a public comittment makes a difference, haha!
I'm 5'5", current BMI 29 (overweight, one more point and I'd be technically obese). I keep thinking I don't LOOK as fat as this sounds. I get a lot of exercise, I don't have a car and walk everywhere, but some targeted muscle building would be nice... If I could afford a gym... hmmm...
Anyway, my goal is to get down to 120: fifty-four pounds away! If only I could get back into some of the stuff I wore six years ago (before blimpage)!!!
I've done all kinds of calculations and I think 2 pounds a week is realistic for me. So... 27 weeks for my goal, starting TODAY! I'll keep a daily food journal because I think that is key, you get to see your habits through other people's eyes.
Some stats:
Age=35 Single, no kids HW=195 LW=120 GW=120
I'll look for a measure tape later and enter those.
Best of luck to all of you! See you around--Fiametta
