misseve - Monday May 28, 2001 Weight:180.0          (specialized - designed by my trainer)

Today was a good day, except I was really tired and sore after workout. I guess cleaning out the dumpster of my room will have to wait til another day (I've been postponing since April, can you believe it?!) When I moved back home from rez at school, I put the boxes and all my clothes all over the place in my room. It's been like that ever since!!! I am usually a tidy person but with my new program and my summer job, I've been really busy. Or I could be just making excuses one after the other. Too bad I don't have a digicam, I would take a pic for you all 2 see... it's just disgusting. Haha, I'm such a hypocrite.

I'm gonna make it sure cuz I wanna clean a bit before bed time in half an hour. Haha... I really hope I get to it. If I could only be as dedicated to cleanliness as with other things. :)

Food today:

Bfast - cheerios + banana in skim milk
snack#1 - coffee (some cream and sugar, eek! well i was sick of black coffee), half a power bar.
lunch - cottage cheese, lettuce + cold cuts sandwich (no other condiments), apple juice box.
snack#2 - orange and 1/4 power bar
dinner - 1 bowl of brown rice, snap peas + chicken stirfry, chinese-style chicken, veggies. i dunno how to describe most of these dishes but i know my mom who's quite health conscience too so i trust that they're prolly not very high in fat, etc. :)
small after-dinner snack: a slice of watermelon.
(let's up the after-dinner snacks STAY small!!! those are the ones that get me)

water: 6-8 cups

today's exercise: morning jog for 20 mins; lunch workout - strength training upper body

anyone have icq? you can add me: #967825 hehe just found out minea and thatmochagirl are from my area, whoooo! :) anyone else from lower mainland BC (Canada)?

oh btw i am using heavy weights i think. ie/bicep curls: 12lbs, shoulder press: 15lbs - each side... all dumbells. that's why i am afraid of bulking up. but i'd rather be all muscle than fat! have a good day tomorow everyone, good night.

And, I do not have the excuse of being young with all kinds of things calling to me that are actually FUN! I am here just below you in Port Angeles. And I am sending you the most positive wish for another successful day tomorrow :) Connie

Last week I could actually see the floor, this week I dont think I'd have a hope in hell of finding a vacant space. Just read youre last week, I have only been writing for about 2 weks, so have found youre entries very interesting and funny. How old are you? (just out of curiosity) You sound like you are on the right track and on youre way to easily sliding into that little mini skirt and knee highs, you wont be able to keep the guys off you! Keep up the good work, its obviously giving your self esteem a great boost and confidence levels are soaring. RE: personal trainer - is he/she from a local gym? How did you find one, (reasonably priced would be ideal). Keep up the good work!!

Comment left by Kat1970 on 05/29/2001: Hi Cheryl! Glad to see you are having a good day!! In answer to your question...there is actually a LONG version of how I got to a trainer, but the short version is I joined a gym that had a fitness program called Apex. I joined that program (VERY EXPENSIVE!!), and I got a trainer with the program. I lost about 65 pounds (about a year) on that program, but then decided (rather my pocketbook decided for me!) that I needed to go it alone. So..I informed my trainer of my intentions, and he said that he thought it was a HUGE mistake to quit now, so he made me a deal that he would continue to train me and get me ready for competition, for 30% of the purse (winnings). Seeing as how I NEVER thought I'd be ready to compete, I happily agreed!!! However, I was ready within 6 months after that, and I did compete, and I tell you I think he got the better end of the deal!! hahaha Anyway, I got married and moved to Texas, and my whole life flipped upside down, and the scale went up, up, up.... So...here I am, starting all over again!! Anyway...my trainer developed a cardio and weight program for me, as well as a "food plan"...(he NEVER called it a diet hahaha), and he trained me on how to fight (kick-box). I must say it was about the hardest thing I ever did! (I trained 4-6 hours a day...EVERYDAY!!!) But...I never felt sooo good!! I wish I could find a guy like that out here in Texas (believe me I've looked!!), but...oh well, guess I'm on my own again! (Well...my husband kinda took over the trainer role, since he was Army) I wish you all the luck in the world with your trainer. Hopefully he will study your habits ,and your strengths and weaknesses and be able to help you reach your goal! Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions!! Your weights sound good for now! I do 20 lb curls right now, but I USED to do 50-60!!! I pretty much was pure muscle back then though!!! As someone on this list once reminded me, I'm not that same person anymore, and I need to realize that and aim a lil lower!!! =) So...I'd say doing 12 pound curls now is excellent for toning and not HUGE muscle building!! Don't worry, you'll look GREAT!, not bulky!!! Sorry my "short version" was sooo long!!! Keep up the great work!!! -Kat
