Ok, still staying the same weight here. You would think that with so many fewer calories I would be losing weight like crazy, but I guess not. It's getting easier and easier to do this new way of eating, all though I can't say necessarily that it's as fun or satisfying. But today I got a record low 43% of my calories as fat. That's almost too low, but I'm not about to swig some olive oil to make up for it ;-) One thing I've noticed is that I've been more full than I expected to be. I thought I would feel more hungry because fat statiates you a lot. But somehow eating all this somewhat dryer, lower-fat protein, it kind of sits in my stomach like a rock and I feel full despite not necessarily feeling like my tastebuds were satisfied! Oh well, I'm not hungry in any case. We went out to eat today for my coworker's birthday but luckily not to the Vietnamese place. We went to a place that primarily has sandwhiches and pizza called The Lost Dog, and luckily they had salads too, so I was able to get a ceasar salad with grilled tuna. I also have been trying to get in a bigger meal at breakfast to get back to my previous big b/big l/tiny d, and today I was able to get the calories up pretty high so if not for the fairly light lunch I think I could have had a tiny dinner, but I decided to up my calories even a little further by having some venison burger. I will tell you that grilled ostrich, venison, and bufallo burgers all taste fairly similar - dry and not all that tastey. I'm sure there are ways of getting them to taste better, maybe by deep frying them and dipping them in melted cheese, heheh. So anway, today I got my calorie count up higher than the rest of this week - actually managing to get over 1400! So I figure if I can get that high, I should be able to go up another 100-200 calories without that much extra effort. It sounds really odd talking on a diet website about trying to INCREASE one's calories, doesn't it???
Ok, I just wanted to mention the pictures site again. We had a flurry of activity when I first put it up, but for the past 2+ weeks, I haven't gotten anything. I know some of you may not have access to a digital camera or scanner, so I just wanted to mention again that I am perfectly willing to scan some photos in for you if you send them to me via regular mail. Just email me at levi@dvdmon.com and I will give you my address. Even if you don't have an "after" photo yet, but just a "before", I'm sure a lot of folks would love to just see you to be able to put a face to a name, and just think of the added affect you'll get when you post an updated picture after people have set in their mind that you look like your before picture! Also, I think I mentioned this previously, but one thing I have been considering is for people who have posted their pictures, if they also want to give a bio and kind of a history of their diets along with a description of their current progress and even suggestions on what has made them successful or kept them going, I think that would add a great deal to the site, so for those who have already posted or plan to, you can email me with whatever info like this you would like to put on your page.
Diet Diaries Pictures.
My Fitday entry for today.

Hello DVD DUDE. How are you today. I hope you got my last e-mail explaining the stupid situation that I am in. Sorry again for being so rude. I was wondering is the diet that you are on anything like the Adkins diet? It sound a little similiar. It does sound really weird talking about trying to get more calories in. I wish I had that problem. LOL. Do you get many fruits in during the day?
I have to find a suitable picture of me before I send one in, but I will be contacting you for your address. I want you to have a great day and get more calories, hehehe. C-Ya, Sherri, soon to be a sexy vixen.

The picture page is great...I hadn't checked it out before. Wow! There's a big difference in your before and after pics....Congrats on losing so much!
I tried ostrich last summer, and was sick all night afterward. It tasted like a cross between beef and pork, with the consistency of beef liver (which I didn't care for to begin with). Hubby and I went to a "gourmet" restaurant for our anniversary, and thought it would be neat to try things we wouldn't normally consider. Well, a few days later, when my tummy had settled down again, we went out again. This time we ordered steak! LOL
Have a great day...and remember to drink that water, and ~~smile!~~ (but not at the same time, as that could get messy! hahaha)

Hi, Levi. To answer your question, I had good luck with the Atkin's Diet, but when I took a break just could not get back on it! The extreme low carb that I needed to lose weight on it didn't allow for any fruits and I really missed them.
I do like the Suzzane Somers diet. It really doesn't make sense to me why it should work as far as separating the food groups. I was pleasantly surprised to see results after sitting on a plateau for the longest time.
Perhaps my biggest accomplishment was cutting out the sodas. I really did fairly well while on vacation only to slip up big-time upon my return. And of course, my reward was water gain. It seems like it has taken days to get back into my routine. Finally, I am soda free again.. had no sugar yesterday and am well on my way to being on track again.
One thing I can say is that I do enjoy my food. It tastes good and is satisfying. I feel lighter and like my system is running "clean". (does that make sense?)
I've noticed with my cheating this past week that I didn't feel good after eating it and it made me crave foods that weren't good for me! With my Suzanne Somers diet.. I'm not thinking about food all the time. It's like being released from prison!

Thanks for the well wishes on the sugarless challenge .. I have done it before so I am not worried... I agree 100 percent about our ancestors 10, 000 years ago and i am going to try to get a hold of that book you mentioned. I added fruit and fruit juices into the no-sugar challenge, because I wanted to give others something.. as I know how hard it can be. I actually avoid all fruit and juices personally, as i have lots of fruit allergies... anyhow you.. Have a great day!

Why do you need to eat dry low fat? I am sure this is a huge transition for you but there are tones of satisfying and yummy lowfat foods out there--soup being one--see my Italian Wedding Soup recipe for one. Caesar Salad with chicken, salmon with lemon sauce, turkey meatballs etc etc etc. You just need to retrain the way you cook. There are tons of good boods--check out the Cooking Light series. Hang in there-- and by the way good idea about adding to the picture site. PAm
