Rader - Wednesday May 30, 2001 Weight:296.0          (Low Cal, Low Fat -- 70 cans of Soup)

Well, yesterday I got a phone call at 5 in the morning, and it was my sister saying she was at the hospital because her water broke a few hours earlier. So a few phone calls later, Heather and I drove 3 hours to Ohio... Found the Hospital, found the right building, and found her room.

We got there in time! She had about 4 more hours of contractions, and then BANG it was over! Heather and I got to sneak back in after half an hour of waiting, and got to see the 6 pound, 4 ounce baby girl named "Cameron".

I was so proud of my younger and only sister. They looked so relieved and happy and magical when we first walked back in there and she was holding their baby. I'm really happy, and glad that I was able to be there for any support we were able to give her. My parents are driving the 13+ hours today and will see her tomorrow morning. We get to go back this weekend.

It's funny, they had the busiest Wendy's there in the hospital. I had a really really good chicken salad with lo-cal Italian. Quite filling, and relieved my worry of what to have for lunch there. Whew.

I've been thinking really hard on what my June goal should be. I don't think a weight goal is really something that is catching my interest for some reason. My unofficial goal is to weigh 279 by the end of June, but that's only 17 pounds. But I should be losing less weight now, so have no clue what the month will be like. Heather helped mold an idea I've been chewing on, and so here it is: I want to be able to do 40 situps in a row without stopping. 7 days in a row. The reason I like this goal is because it's going to get me to work on something I don't find extremely fun: sit-ups. So all month I'll be doing more situps for the goal at the end of the month. After all, isn't that what a goal is suppose to do for you? Plus, the 2nd part that is cool is that I'm going to have a heck of a last week... I have to do 40 in a row without stopping. Fun Fun Fun! For instance, today while doing situps, I whipped through the first 20 really fast and then BAM I stopped at 23. I actually said out loud, "What are you doing?" Can't even explain why I had stopped. I finished the rest no problem, but it was an odd phenomenon.

Comment left by pushedtothewall on 05/31/2001: Congratulations there, Uncle Dustin!!!!! Oh, now there's a little girl who landed herself in a pot of jam with YOU being her mom's only brother! She will be all about: "I want to go with Uncle Dustin!" whenever you visit. Isn't that sweet to think about? Life and life and life, such miracles. And there you were doing the Wendy's thing the RIGHT way in the midst of such great family happenings. I am so happy for you ALL. You know I like that little idea that Heather has put in your head. That would be a true challenge! It has all the real components of a challenge. Well, you have just put a little bug in my own ear. I need to be about getting down on this floor and testing myself in that way and incorporating that into my everyday workout (well, I knew that I would be DOING the situps, but to actually make a project out of it.... that is just on the ragged edge of too much fun!). Good luck to you now. You remain, every day, a great and inspiring member here, Dustin. I just think so much of what YOU are doing and how ninja-like you move through the obstacles of your very busy life... all of the hours OFF of this Diarist site, as you wrote so eloguently not too long ago. There was a lot of power there for me on that day that I read that..... Have a great one today. Your friend, Connie

Comment left by TNYankee950 on 05/31/2001: An uncle...congrats! My stepdaughter is due at the end of the month so I'm excited about being a grandmother for the first time.

I like your June goal. I'm sure you'll accomplish it with the determination you have.

Hope you have a great day.
