Hello All, thank you all for your wonderful advice. I love getting posts, everyone is so supportive. About the Survivor thing, I haven't made up my mind yet. I have until mid-June to RSVP so I'm going to give it some more thought. And no, you don't have to leave the party if you get voted off, but you don't participate in the challenges anymore. And you can have any comforts (food, clothing etc.) that you brought along but weren't allowed to have while you were playing.
Anyway, nothing really important happened today. It was pretty nondescript. I have to say though, that I'm really enjoying having more energy. I can't believe what a difference it makes mentally and physically to be eating right and exercising. Before, I sometimes thought there were too many hours in a day and why couldn't I sleep 14 of them, now I don't think there's enough! I'm constantly puttering around all evening instead of just lying there watching tv.
I borrowed a few different exercise tapes from Dad and I flipped through them to see if I could do any of them. I think I'm going to try one of Kathy Smith's marching workout video tomorrow. And I also did a little research on yoga (I had planned to check it out as a fitness option but reading the article in this week's Time spurred it on.) I downloaded some info and some basic starting steps. Damn that's hard. I'm just not that flexible, and it's hard to do that and read it at the same time. I'm all contorted into a pretzel and I can't read the next little box to figure out how to get out of it! I tried to rent a beginning yoga video but I couldn't find one in Blockbuster. Guess I'll have to try a different video store. Has anyone tried yoga or do it regularly? What's your take on it?
I went swimming in the pool in my father's building. It was great, had the whole place to myself. It's a huge building but hardly anyone ever uses the facilities. It's crazy. But since I have keys I decided to go over and swim laps and then sit in the hot tub. Mmmmm... Love that. I'm trying to vary my exercising otherwise I will get BORED. Walking is fine, but it's boring sometimes and I don't want to feel guilty for not walking every day.
Eating was good today but seemed to get the munchies a lot both during the day and tonight for some reason. I think I had them tonight because I rented Traffic and I was bored out of my skull. I can't believe it was nominated for so many Oscars. Anyhow, to solve the munchie thing I snacked on some watermelon, and when that didn't work, I had 15 Snackwell's potato thins (15 because that is the serving size on the package and that way I know how much fat I was getting in it.) Oh! And I drank 9 glasses of water today (that's about 3 1/2 litres). A new world record for me.
Have a great day all. Peace and Sunshine, M.
Food today:
B: coffee w half/half and sugar twin, 1/4 cantaloupe, small homemade lowfat apple bran muffin
Morning snack: 1 home made low-fat oatmeal raisin cookie
Lunch: 1 cup of homemade vegetable barley soup, low-fat corn muffin, 1 kiwi fruit
Afternoon snack: nonfat yogurt, 13 lowfat hard pretzels
Dinner: 1 1/2 cups of frozen veggies sauteed in veggie broth, 6oz homemade turkey breast loaf, 1 cup stovetop stuffing made without the butter (trust me it tastes the same, why add extra fat?)
Evening: 1 Ferrero Rocher chocolate ( I had a bit of a choco craving) 15 Snackwell's Potato Thins, peppermint herbal tea, 1 cup watermelon
And I am proud of myself today because for the first time in a very, very long time, I pushed my dinner plate away when I was full and I left that food sitting right where it was. (I always seemed to just stuff it in whether I was full or not.)
Exercise: 50 laps, 25 minutes of water exercises (deep water running, pull ups, stretches etc.)

Wow, you are GOOD! I am just enjoying this so much.... all of this energy that you are writing of is just blasting out at us in your reporting of it! Swimming again :) and, pushing the plate away, and looking into exercise videos and more! I cannot help but think that you are one of the ones who are going to make this thing happen; that you have, like many of us, found some kind of magic potion in being here as a Diarist. It is wonderful and wonderful to watch you! I pick up exercise videos at the public library. They are not always the newest, but there are plenty of them and I am the kind of person that chooses an armload (and after all they are free for those three weeks) and then if the spirit moves me, I pop on in. (Sadly, this doesn't happen very often!) I think that you are way ahead of the game if you figure out early on that relying on just one exercise routine does get boring, and yes, if you don't do it there is a type of guilt. I am boring PERSONIFIED! Same breakfast every day of my life, same, same, same and same. I have such a small comfort zone. I talked about a new routine that I am committed to for the month of June, if you have any time to look at that. I just had to enter it in my diary page because I was vascillating and had a moment's courage there, so braved it. I might as well have signed on for a trek up the Himalayas, for all the panic that is surrounding me since I committed to that! Have a wonderful Friday. I will be thinking of you.

Hello today. It sounds like you are still doing wonderful.. That would be really cool to have a whole pool to yourself like that. I wish you lived close to me so I could go with you. I can't believe that Traffic was boring. I guess I won't waste my money renting that one. I love Vampire movies. I think I am a vampire at heart, LOL. Isn't it wonderful knowing that you are doing something so great for your body like exercising? It does give you so much more energy. I always feel like such a different person when I am exerciseng. I can't seem to get myself motivated like I should though. Me and my daughter play tennis about 3 times a week, but I need more if I want the weright to drop off in big globs, LOL. Well keep that willpower sky high and have a fantastic day.

Hi Mini!
Do you have cable? If so, the Lifetime channel carries Yoga Zone (as well as Bodies in Motion and a few others) in the morning. Yoga Zone is scheduled in a couple of time slots; so, if you miss one, you can catch the next.
I tape them occasionally so that I can do them when I need a lighter workout than my stepping.
Also, check out e-Bay if you want to purchase some tapes cheaply. I have been buying new (factory sealed) Reebok tapes for between $1.95 and $7.00 (most around $5). Even with the shipping, it's a good deal.
Good for you with the water exercises!

Thanks for the June-challenge support. I think it's the perfect challenge for me. Hope it works out for you. Check73 and I have both noticed that our situps work on our stomach's fat muscles from top-to-bottom. What I mean is that the fat we've lost on our stomachs is from the top area first, and sloooooowly working it's way down.
Good luck, and keep us posted if you go this route. Hope you get into the Yoga. Check out others just like it... like Pilates, and this new one from China (curses! I can't remember the name. It's getting realllly popular, and banned in China)
