garlic - Saturday Apr 27, 2002 Weight:175.0          (3-0-1 Plan)

Good morning gang!!! Feeling pretty good today. For some reason, I'm always feeling like I could use more sleep (even when I get enough). Don't know why. But, besides that, I feel OK. Feel really good being in control, keeping the food under control and getting my exercise (wish I'd do a bit more though).

I bought a new food scale yesterday. When I first started my food plan back in January, I got myself a food scale but was too cheap to get a good one. I got a regular one that cost me $10. I use this scale three times a day to weigh several things so it gets a lot of use. I decided that I wanted to splurge and get myself a digital one. So I did. It was only $40. Of course, they had one that I really wanted that was $119 (really sharp looking) but I didn't go there. So now things will be much easier for me. Especially this one feature where you can but a bowl or container right on the scale and once the scale weighs it, you can push a button that will set it back to zero so that you can now begin to weigh the food that you are putting into the bowl. I just love that feature. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever shared here that I weigh and measure all my food. I think I've just been telling you what I have for meals. Anyway, in case anyone is curious/interested, this is basically my food plan:

Breakfast: 4 oz PROTEIN; 8 oz. FRUIT; 1 oz. GRAIN (oatmeal)

Lunch: 4 oz. PROTEIN; 12 oz. SALAD; 8 oz. COOKED VEGETABLE; 2 T. FAT (olive oil)

Dinner: 4 oz. PROTEIN; 8 oz. COOKED VEGETABLE; 1 T. FAT (olive oil); cup SKIM MILK

Actually, the protein weight varies - 4 oz. if it's like a veggie meat replacement, but I have 8 oz. if it's plain non-fat yogurt, or 2 oz. if I choose cheese or 1 oz. if I choose nuts.

Anyway, that's basically what I've been doing and it works!!! It's a lot of food, I know, but when you stick to it 100% and have absolutely nothing in between, all that good food works for you.

Anyway, you all have a wonderful Saturday. I'm here at work today but it's nice and slow so I'll be doing a lot of chit chatting and internet surfing today. Also going downtown Boston to do a bit of shopping on my lunch hour. Desparately need new clothes!!! I just keep packing them away - those ones that are falling off!! Bye for now.

I hate having to manually turn it to zero--I'll be looking for a new one. Some may think it's terribly anal-retentive to weigh stuff, but actually in practice, it keeps you honest. (Still haven't found the chicken strips--tried the Smart dogs and had to put a ton of mustard on--but they were very satisfying and they don't make you feel like you do when you eat beef.)

Keep up the good work!
