Well, I'm frustrated beyond belief. The server was down for 36+ hours. The server is colocated with a large company down in Miami, FL. They make all of these great claims on their website like support staff 24 hours / 7 days a week and guaranteed 99.999% uptime. I don't have a clue what happened with the server connection, but the support was definitely lacking on this one. Multiple unanswered helpdeck tickets. Finally had to use their pay for support telephone line only to find out that it gets forwarded to some type of answering service with people that obviously don't have a clue what's going on. To fit the phone person's script I finally just had to describe the problem as "the computer won't turn on".
I've had the DD server with this same colocation company for the past 3 years and haven't ever been down unintentionally for more than 4-6 hours per year. After realizing how helpless I was to do anything and how I couldn't get in touch with a human being, I'm thinking of relocating it to my home state in the near future. I'll keep you posted as the time comes.
