Here is one you are sure to get all sorts of anwsers for, I am still unclear of what is really best
I do cardio in the morning before eating, My ex was a bodybuilder and told me to do cardio on an empty stomach because you are not burning what you just ate, but your fat reserves you want to get rid of.
Then I read all sorts of things that tell you protein before and after, carbs before etc etc....
If you suffer from low blood sugar I think you should eat something rather than pasing out in the gym, but otherwise??
what works for everyone else ?

i usually have something really small that is high carb before my workouts to give me a little boost. i have been in the habit of eating 1/2 banana and a vitamin C packet with water about 30 mins before. I have found my endurance to be much better than not eating. after, i try to eat something heavier in protein and potassium for recovery (i.e. protein shake with other half banana or yogurt with some high fiber cereal)

I think it depends on the intensity of the workout. I sort of agree with your ex, but I also don't like to feel horrible after a workout which is what can happen sometimes if you don't eat! I like the idea of small carb meals and lots of water.

I prefer not to have eaten within 2 hours of a workout. I tend to have issues with nausea if I have any food in my stomach during a workout. Not sure if that is what is "best", but that's what works for me. :)

I usually do my excercises before I eat too. I read that if you eat before, it burns of calories while you eat :)

I feel the same way as your ex I always feel like if i eat something before I work out I am being counterproductive but on the otherhand you are going to eat something later anyway plus it does help with endurance, but it can also give cramps. I think it sort of depends on what you prefer

I think it's important to get some exercise in any way you can. So I don't always pay attention to when I last ate when I exercise - sometimes it just catches up with me - it's time to exericse and I haven't eaten so I will usually eat a small spoon full of peanut butter and a small glass of water and take off. When I can plan, though, I like to have eaten with 2 hours of a workout. Not always possible, though - like in the mornings I walk as soon as I get up - no food, before, but a glass of water to get me going. Then I eat afterwards.

my nutritionist says you have to eat some carb before exercising so you use that energy and don't use your muscle mass as energy. but again, yea, depends on the intensity of the workout. she also recommends you have a snack right after.

I like to have either a banana or a PB&J sandwich on a single slice of Wh Wht bread a little before exercise if I've eaten nothing else in an hour or so if I'm going for a jog, long walk or will be doing wt trng.
