"Too low they build, who build beneath the stars." - Edward Young

I'm back!  Took the whole long weekend off of counting - but I'm happy to report that except for sunday I stayed within calorie limites and exercised like crazy (which I am quite happy about).  Sunday had family cookout at cousin's house in northern KY and just didn't want to deny myself some of the delicious stuff there.  But even on Sunday I didn't go nuts on the food.  The only thing I would say I went overboard on was chocolates - I really kind of went over the edge on them - had about 5-6 pieces made up of Hersey Treasures and Dove milk choc Bliss.  That's not bad, but on top of everything else....you get the picture.  But it's over and I'm raring to go again.  Today is hot weather again and I hope to get to ride bike after dinner tonight.  I may have found a new bike riding friend and found out there is a new paved trail - 8 miles out and 8 (of course) back so total of 16 miles on the North side of town......excited about taking bike out there.  I had a flat tire this weekend and husband showed me how to fix it.  I feel so smart!

    B:  Coffee (I don't like to skip, but......) 50

L:  Roll w/butter 1/2 baked potato with sour cream and green and wax beans (this at a professional assoc luncheon and I skipped the FRIED chicken and the CHOC CAKE!!! Estimate intake of 425??

Drinking water now - husband wants to grill tonight.  Pork chops will keep it reasonable.

Thanks for the advice re: blisters... I do wear smart wool socks when I hike... I also swear by them! Not sure if they make any short, thin ones for running? I will have to work... I also think I'm going to stop at the drug store and get some blister pads today after work!

I meant I will have to look, not work... LOL

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  Marianne Williamson

Love this quote.  It was pasted on FB by my 19 year old daughter. I can only hope that she is beginning to understand what the author is saying.  Read it.  Really think about it - meditate on it.  It's not a bible verse - but it is bible inspried.  Further, I believe it hits home - on the button - of what holds so many of us back - INCLUDING myself.  I am committing to contemplating on these words and furthering my discovery of  how I can overcome my fear of my own power/light (God in me).

    Yesterday is updated.

    B:  Apple, 1/2 cookie, coffee  240

    S:  Pretzels and PNB 220

    L:  Beef stew  250

    SubTotal Cals = 710

    Shine
Make 'em wonder what you've got
Make 'em wish that they were not
    On the outside looking bored
    Shine
Let it shine before all men
Let'em see good works, and then
    Let 'em glorify the Lord

    UPDATE:

Did OK at the potluck at church.  Could have been worse - I had one choc chip cookie and a bit of alot of things - I esitmate really close to 575 cals for the meal then had a granola bar for 90 cals later at home - not sure why I ate that, but...... so total of 665 for the night.  No exercise - was so tired.  I did walk about 1/2 mile at lunch with friend.  She is not an exerciser at all and the walks are for her more than me, so......

About 1375 cals and only the very short walk.

I loved the "no thank you" suggestion. That one is the hardest of all for me, but would certainly reduce stress and obligations!

Comment left by CoverGirl on 09/01/2010:
No you didnt read it wrong...altho, I ended up eating 870cals....I just think, and yes I know that its not enough, but I think that its too much
