Family Info (spouse, kids, pets): Husband and 4 kids, daughter in law, and one beautiful grandson and an adorable black kitty. We now have a little girl grey tiger stray that kind of adopted us. She has a lame foot and I feel so bad for her that I let her in to eat and sleep.

How do you feel about yourself, your weight, your decision to change? I feel awful about my weight, especially my large belly and thighs.

How long have you been overweight? 10 years

What things have you tried before to lose the weight? skipping meals which i know is bad and messes up metabolism

What is the number one reason you want to lose weight? I am tired of straining to get out of chairs and standing and stooping - I need to be flexible and strong again like when I was young.

What are some other reasons? So I can bend over to tie my shoes and paint my toes.

What is your goal weight? for now ..150

What is the first thing you want to do when you reach your goal? Enjoy the outdoors

Are the people closest to you supportive? If not, why? Yes and No. They support the whole healthy eating and exercise but they are not overweight and so they do not understand the emotional struggle that I experience. I have to admit - I never understood it either until the last 10 years.

What is the worst thing about being overweight? Walking slow, feeling ugly, feeling lazy especially since I was very athletic as a youth. Even as a young mom of 4, I was healthy and strong. It was in 2000 when I became ill and had to go on medications and my weight just continues to creep up and my energy levels creep down. I have the memory of being athletic, but in my current state I am lazy and weak.

What is the best thing about you? I am a faithful friend and good worker - I love my teaching job and I do well with my tasks. I have taken steps to heal my emotional health and now it is time to attend to my physical health.

How will losing weight affect those around you? I think because I will be happier with myself and energetic - others will be motivated in a postive way.
