We just might get to 33 degrees here today...I can only hope...I really need to get groceries.....and the roads are slick.  It's a good thing I decided to unstuff the freezer....I can see lots of headway in there...and I'm finding things that I had forgotten about.......it will be a good way to restock it...instead of continually adding things and pushing other things to the back.  (kinda like opening a big ol cold gift...Lol)

That freezer thing is a curse sometimes. That's what DH does, pushes things around and down and forgets its there. We have a whole farm of frozen chicken. I told him we are eating all of it before he buys anymore.

Good luck.

OH, I was sent a list of all the new free style 0 point foods. Let me know if you want a copy of it, I can send it to you.

bearcountrygg on 12/18/2017:
I have the list...but thank you....it is a terrific program....the new zero point foods are making it much more do able than ever for me......they did lower our dailies...but not having to weigh and measure so many things now has made it actually simple...

happy-1 on 12/20/2017:
If you have a ton of frozen chicken and any of it is boneless / skinless... try making hot wing dip! Yummy and easy in the slow cooker. Goes well with celery and hot paleo biscuits.

Up early...and really looking forward to getting some grocery shopping done...but not today...rds still bad here......we won't starve...LOL....but the perishables are getting low......I'm loving this new WW.....it is so much easier and a lot more fun now...and it pushes me to eat healthier and that can be a chore for me....but it's coming along much easier than ever before.....cutting the points and giving us more free foods is genius  at least that works for me.

I didn't have the opportunity to comment on yesterday's entry, but this new WW plan sounds VERY friendly and easy to do, with promoting a sustainable lifestyle change -- while allowing for special occasions and foods.

Good luck - please try not to let the internet connection issue discourage you, although I *do* know how frustrating that can be. You can do this!!! (And I will enjoy reading your menus, too!)

bearcountrygg on 12/17/2017:
This WW program was made for me. The connection is already acting up......but when I keep at it I do finally get through.....as a back up I ordered the points calculator so that I can still figure things without the computer...it will also be handy at the store...so that's a win for me...it won't stop me this time...I will just enter everything when I can get on. Thank you for the support Donkey this plan is a keeper.

Donkey on 12/17/2017:
That's an excellent "Plan B"!

BearCountryGG - Saturday Dec 16, 2017
(Weight Watchers Freestyle)

I have been hearing so much about the NEW Weight Watchers Freestyle program...it is the easiest, healthiest program they have ever had.  As I have said many times before......WW is how I lost 55 pounds in the past...but that was going to weekly meetings....here...that isn't an option because of evening meetings quite a distance away and for 6 months a year that would be driving in the dark on icy desolate snow covered roads....not going to happen....so after doing lots of checking you tube and other sites...I've decided to join and use their online program again....( in the past connection problems were there and they are still ongoing)....but I'm just going to work with it....persistance seems to be the key with their website and my computers...and I have the time to deal with that.......they now have so many zero point foods it's crazy and it makes the whole process so much easier, less weighing and measuring food, less counting, easier shopping than the past and this will also be a lot better for Denny too ( he's not joining but the food is going to suit him better now).  I had already eaten breakfast when I started this today so I haven't been able to enjoy any of the zero point foods yet other than coffee....I'm so ready to get busy......if nothing else this will get me eating a lot more veggies and fruits again...and a lot less carbs.

I get 23 daily points

I get 42 weekly points

The new rules are that I must eat at least 19 of my daily points and move the last 4 over to the next day if I want to...or I can eat all 23 each day, and as usual the weekly points are optional...I can use them or not...but they do not carry over to the next week, if I do not use them in a week I lose them.

Breakfast was eaten before joining so I started out with quite a few points used....that's ok

16 oz black coffee = 0

1 cup unsweetened vanilla silk almond milk = 1

Quaker overnight oats, raisin, walnut, honey flavor = 11

12 pts ( 11 points left)

Starkist tuna creations lemon pepper pouch = 1

corn = 0

Motts applesauce no sugar added = 0

1 pt (10 points left)

P.M. snack

Wild Garden snack box to go, sun dried tomato hummus and pita chips = 6

4 points left for day

baked chicken tenderloins = 0

peas = 0

Near East rice pilaf= 5

Used all of my daily points and 1 of my weeky points

This is absolutely the easiest WW plan I have ever been on.....they are steering you to the fruits and veggies and skinless poultry and fish..and they make it so easy now that you don't have to weigh or measure them...it's almost effortless.......will have to see how the weight goes on this....I do think that this is a way to lose that won't get to be burdensome like in the past.

Eggs and plain no fat yogurt and beans are now free too......this is what will make this so much easier.

Weird morning.......woke up to hearing Hubby talking on the phone to oldest son.........son had to vent about his job at 5:15 t this morning..................he is assistant manager at a major discount  department store ..............rant over after 45 minutes.....then Denny proceeds to  bump a little 3 legged stand and dumped his coffee all over everything.himself..chair, carpet, magazines, phone, 3 remotes, stand, pillow....just proves that the way you get out of bed ( to a agitated phone call)...is the way your day goes..........he mopped that mess up......and I ate breakfast with him......( I had stopped eating what he eats...WTH).....it is so easy to go back to the old crap....then I went to make my coffee...and ended up with a cup of hot chocolate instead.....mixed boxes of K cups are hard to read without glasses!!!!!!

So I had a cup of hot chocolate and a breakfast sandwich

waffle, 2 bites chocolate, Kind bar

On the funny side....yesterday morning I was looking at some old favorite you tubers....and went to see Sarahs weigh in.....she weighed in buttnekkid as she called it.....but in the past you saw the scales and everything was fine....but yesterday was different...she had the light on and while you only saw the scales...her reflection was clearly there in the glass scale......I shot her off a quick email...and she removed it.......she was embarassed,,,,and I got a shout out from her on her redone vid.......and a thank you email.........60 plus ladies should not be naked on the internet....they should barely be naked in the shower.........LOL...did my good deed for the year.....if any of you decide to get naked on the internet...I will surely be there to stop you!!!!!   LOL.

Now....on with my weird and crazy day...one never knows what might happen!

Lasagna and cookies and coffee

mixed nuts

Turned the back light on and found 3 deer eating under the feeder...snowing like crazy here and they all had snowy backs....soooo cute!

Well....the weather outside is FRIGHTFUL....( I think that's the beginning of a song! ) Anyway....school closings all around and SNOW................ Denny cranky...me crankier.....UGH!  Plenty to keep busy with here......I finished the book...The Manhattan Diet for the second or third time the other day....and always enjoyed it...this time was just as enjoyable........I can clearly see that New Yorkers...including HOP and the people in the book....eat many different foods than what Michiganders eat.......so many things I have never even heard of and are not available here...or are available but are known by a different name.  Always so much fun to read about.........I will say that when we were in Manhattan we ate basically at small restaurants  for lunch and we basically stuck to burgers and fries......because we didn't recognise some things on the menus.....( we stayed in our travel trailer in North Bergen New Jersey...and it was only a 15 minute drive back and forth each day which was handy...so we ate breakfast and dinner every day that I had prepared at the campground.  Denny is not an adventurous eater and I am only when I'm at home or friends or families homes....so we had burgers and fries basically every day...it worked...we were there for the sights more than the food anyway.  Anyway....I think NYC food is exciting and interesting....us Michiganders are are about hearty warming fare....that also means HEAVY food.......I'm so enjoying all of the food diaries...I grew up from farmer stock and so did Denny..............I had a Grandma that fed 9 people with flour, cornmeal , rice, sugar and an occassional chicken.....they lived on fried mush,  homemade noodles and had taffy pulls for fun...that's what happens when farmers kids move to the big city . We are French, German and English....( Denny is Scottish/Irish/English)......we are of a hearty stock...............we like heavy food...we are doomed...we need to learn to eat lighter....Denny and his bacon/ ham addiction will be comming to an end when the ham/ bacon runs out in the freezer...{..it causes stomach cancer..}..he is grumpy and angry...so be it...I would like to keep him around a while longer...or...maybe I need to retink that grumpiness...LOL

2 slices of 15 grain bread toasted with 1 pat of butter divided between the 2, 2 cups coffee, one with sweet and low packet I found in coffee cupboard.  {obviously leftover from some hotel visit downstate)

Having a super hungry day here...not sure if it is because I ate less the last 2 days...or because I started off today with toast.....could go either way.....concentrating on more filling foods today because I NEED THEM!

Chicken salad ( made from baked chicken breasts, mayo and pickled veggies)...

horn_of_plenty on 12/14/2017:
Good Morning BCGG!

Firstly, thank you so much for all your advice and support as of late! I have finally come to several conclusions and finally confronted all the changes moving forward. And moving forward, I feel better indeed now! THANK YOU!

It snowed here today also! But not like you, here it’s just a light coating! We almost would never have a school closing in early December! I bet your schools are closed often with the roads like I’ve seen in your photos! Boy do they look like a big challenge to plow! Wow!

YES, I am SURE based on reading your whole entry already above (it was weird I actually read the ending first!), but yes, I AM SURE that I eat TOTALLY different from you farm-raised Michigainers! LOL.

I am def NYC at heart (I was born on the outskirts on LONG ISLAND). And I don’t even compare to the wealthy NYers who eat tons of fish and eat all organic and fresh. However, I DO have all the options open to me, which is so different from your lifestyle! Like, my supermarkets have berries, plums, and other fruits now even if they are not in season. For that, I would say I am lucky. I doubt there’s so many places in the UNITED STATES like NYC and it’s surroundings, actually. Don’t you? Besides California and the other big cities, I doubt much of the entire land mass of USA is like NYC.

What a cool way to travel here, lady! Wow, I didn’t know you drove here in your trailer. Good idea to make your camp out on outskirts. And take the drive in…did you drive in? Or rather, did you take public transportation? That’s a lot cheaper than parking in NYC and I am sure there isn’t any place to park a trailer for cheap anyways!!!

Also, the food is so pricey here, I wouldn’t want to eat at the restaurants all week of a trip, either. Why waste so much $ right? I’m with you, for sure. If I could afford expensive, I’d have done it, otherwise it’s just a serious waste. You were smart on your trip. I am trying to learn to eat better for less $$$, aside from my kombucha habit, that is! I don’t want to give up the kombucha just yet.

You are smart to be Conservative with your cash. And I’d say NYC has definitely more to offer than food, like you said. Broadway Shows are worth seeing, I’d say. But if it’s a once in a lifetime trip, it’s important to see a GOOD show…with tons of scenery and stage-changes, a nice big cast, and a musical (with singing), not just a drama show with no chorus! There’s such a range of Broadway shows, I’ve actually seen some that weren’t that great on the big scale of what’s out there. So definitely, research should be done so that you can see a good one so you can see what is so special about those LIGHTS on BROADWAY! Yup.

And to just walk around, see the famous buildings, the sites, to take a tour, to go over brides, thru a tunnel, on the subway…this is the special part of NYC. To go to the different neighborhoods, see the architecture, walk thru the parks. Take a ferry (haven’t done that in forever like YEARS)…in the summer, the beaches which are also on the outskirts of NYC. That’s about it. I’d say you don’t even need to spend too much time in NYC because of the major expense? And of course it’s better to go when it’s not freezing or too hot…better in fall and spring. NYC is beautiful.

If those foods – the bacon and stuff in your freezer – cause stomach cancer and you do eat tons, it’s best you eat less as you are doing. You can simply replace those things with lighter alternatives. What about turkey bacon? It’s simply turkey in the shape of bacon? And what about frozen soy meats or turkey links and sausages? Right? But the soy stuff isn’t proven as great either, so I’d say just skip em’ if you aren’t accustomed to eating them.

With eggs, I recommend no more than one egg yolk, but you can fill up on those egg whites! Egg whites are low cal, don’t have a ton of nutrition though, but they fill you up. You can make a huge omelette with mostly the whites and vegetables. But the yolk has good nutrition, stick to one, but if you have cholesterol, than my advice for even one yolk might be too much per day??? But I highly recommend tuna, sardines, and egg whites as low calorie options. Oh, I keep forgetting I have chicken nuggets at home that I bought frozen from the supermarket! I have them and tator tots and I cannot wait to finally bake them tonight (never have baked a lot of frozen food before LOL). I am sure you have!

The reason I keep recommending protein to you is simple…it’ll cut down on your appetite.

When I eat grains, which of course I do!, I just notice that my appetite increases a LOT.

When I first started dieting years ago, I did it by eating much more greens and veggies than I even do now. I ate less calories than I do now. I’m actually better off now, I think, because my metabolism and muscle is MUCH higher than it was in my low to mid 20’s. Weightlifting has helped me! When dieting, you do NOT want to eat the lowest calories bc they body will get used to that, and then when you want to eat a little more, you’ll end of gaining weight easily as the metabolism slows with weight loss…really it’s best to lose weight over longer periods than drastically, of course as I know you already know.

And also, eating things in moderation is also better than just stopping any certain food group at all together. What I still do is overeat on the vegetables when I feel like overeating, but now I am able to enjoy everything as I know that our bodies DO REQUIRE food and all food groups. So yes, anything you need advice from, feel free to ask. I was not always as lean as I am now. And now I’m starting to think I may have to watch my calories more closely as I think they may start getting out of hand again and that they are partially too high…but then again, as long as my clothes fit, it’s good.

What is my point – it took me awhile to learn how to keep my weight as it is. It does still involve some thought…OK…so it might take you awhile to learn new habits, but yes, it’s possible. You will have to eat more frozen / canned veggies as they are not available all the time as you say in your supermarkets. …

You do need to adjust your eating as you are slightly, for your health. Instead of doing without the things you and Denny enjoy, make substitutions so you can KEEP THE HABIT, but make it better. Bacon turns to turkey bacon, for example. Eggs turn to egg whites, for example. White bread becomes whole wheat. Little by little, you can do this. White potatoes become sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes or SQUASH (all squash is LOW CALORIE). Squash can be eaten mostly instead of potatoes, it’ll save you loads of calories. Can you cook pumpkin, butternut, spaghetti, and acorn squashes? You can still have some chips or a snack after, as the calories in squash is NOTHING compared to potatoes! And later on, you can continue to make substitutions, that’s how I do it. I do not starve or not eat, I just eat things that are MORE SUSTAINING!

Sorry for the long entry, I have way too much time right now (the entire day is free for me at work – to close my mouth and sit at my desk without a budge, really!).

bearcountrygg on 12/14/2017:
Wow...you did have time today...I will answer paragraph by paragraph if I can...Yup...snow is a big problem here and schools have to close especially because of the back roads. NYC is totally unique....like a different world...a really COOL different world. We had what is called a fifth wheel trailer that we pulled with our truch...there was a campground in North Bergen N.J. called New Yorker Trailer city...right near the Lincoln Tunnel...so we camped there...and went through the tunnel with the truck..and parked I think in the Port Authority and took busses all day...fun...and lots of quarters later...we went all over Manhattan. There were no campgrounds anywhere near by...in fact I think they may have closed the one we used. We are using up what is onhand..of course we are food preppers so there is a lot of food here...actuallymay not be such a good thing now bwcause now we have to eat it all and it isn't necessarily the best stuff for us now...but too many $ invested to just get rid of it...so it has to work for us untill we clear it out. We didn't actually go to any shows...we saw the World Trade Centers ( oh my)...the Empire State bldg, statue of liberty, Ellis Island, Fraunces Tavern, Took a ride in a horse drawn carriage, FAO Schwartz, Hard Rock Cafe, Central Park, Zabars...( The deli guy was dripping sweat into the potato Salad...)...UGH...so we only bought a bag....LOL, we went to Canal street on a sunday and did some shopping and Rockafeller Center ( actually ate there) we had a blast...and we were exhausted but Happy! About the bacon and egg alternatives,,,tried the bacon, it gives us tummy problems and I can't have the soy because of Hashimotos Thyroid, and his eggs are I guess going to stay...he likes them boiled for hunting trips in the truck...so...he is on trygliceride meds and has good cholesterol now....he took hamburgers today...may not be any better but it is a change for him...he doesn't like any chnges in his food....he's a bug about that...so...I'm hoping he adjusts better than he has lately...LOL..I ', ok with the changes...egg whites are fine with me...and yup...we have a lot of frozen food...it makes country life do able. I agree...carbs make me hungry..especially bread...and it was full of nuts and seeds...but still...made me hungry...I'm far better off with NO BREAKFAST...until late morning or early afternoon. Morning eating sets me up for trouble. We love sweet potatoes...I like squash...he tolerates it once in a while....he is quite regimented in his eating and he gets grumpy when it changes...makes it kind of hard for me to change things...but I'm doing it anyway....he will have to like it or lump it...I will probably be asking some questions....stay tuned...

happy-1 on 12/14/2017:
When I think of NY food I think about black and white cookies, bagels, pizza, and deli pastrami. Yum! Heading out for a week in January to see the fam... Last time I forgot to pack hot sauce and just about lost my mind and was starving all the time even though I ate everything else normal. Nobody had the tray of varying ranges of death by fire. I never realized how much hot sauce I eat as a Californian... 5th food group. Probably about a cup a day.

bearcountrygg on 12/14/2017:
WOW...on the hot sauce....And YES on the black and white cookies...love those...but we don't have them here...they come from New York only! H and H Bagels were delish too.

happy-1 on 12/14/2017:
Oh and on the egg thing... if you want to cut back on egg yolks but not crack the second egg to conserve, my camping trick is to use greek yogurt to extend the egg mix for more people. You can probably make your own at home when it warms up.

bearcountrygg on 12/14/2017:
I used to make yogurt....sounds interesting adding it to an egg...never heard that before.

happy-1 on 12/14/2017:
Adding yogurt and some cornstarch or arrowroot powder also lets you freeze the leftovers for breakfast during the week. If you do them in a silicone muffin tray, you don't need to add oil.

bearcountrygg on 12/15/2017:
No maples here...LOL...well the amish neighbors have maples...but not us.

happy-1 on 12/14/2017:
Reading HOPs post... Have you ever made red flannel hash? you just chop up an onion, beets, sweet potatoes and then poach some eggs on top (then have a bloody mary or two... maybe).

This recipe is about right. Just use a cast iron dutch oven or something to get a nice brown crust on the bottom and a lid for quick cooking the eggs on top at the end. Augh. All those nice runny yolks over the hash...

And maybe some nitrite-free bacon ends for the cooking fat. ;-)

bearcountrygg on 12/15/2017:
Heard of red flannel hash but never knew what it was.

Up  and at em this morning......I got hungry last eveing just before bed and IGNORED IT!!!!!!  A few more nights like that and the urge will go away.  The cool thing about yesterday was that each of my 3 mini meals were small....and I never felt over full for that reason....and I like that feeling....Comparing yesterday to the past few years was so much more comfortable for me.....I don't like the stuffed feeling.

6:00 coffee

10:15 Breakfast = oatmeal and a nature valley granola bar, tea

10:30  confession time.....while I was getting snacks for Denny to put in his truck...I actually forgot what I was doing and an old habit snuck in...and before I knew it I had eaten a brownie and a mini bag of crunchy cheetos.............when I realized what I had done I was so mad at myself...but decided that it wasn't worth the effort it took and since I didn't want to derail everything I took it as a throw back to old behavior that needs to be watched,.....I had just eaten breakfast...I wasn't hungry....I was eating for no reason other than it was an old habit....there is a lesson here for me!  The fact that it was sweet and salty snacks puts up red flags for me.

3:30 lasagna and a pure organic blueberry bar

Progress as of today: 12.2 lbs lost so far, only 98.2 lbs to go!

TY....I'm already feeling like my old familiar self.......this is truly why I stayed slim for so many years.....I was so busy feeding everyone else...I didn't think about eating. I have to keep in mind that between our boys and 8 foster children...over many years I spent much of my time at the table feeding babies and tending to toddlers......at mealtimes we often ( with foster kids) had so many the same age we had 3 highchairs..and a booster seat filled with diapered butts..feeding myself was hit and miss.

Chatting with HOP yesterday made me remember that I eat on Dennys schedule...and not my own ....just because I fix him a meal does not mean I have to eat then too.......I'm trying something today and eating what I want, when I want...he agrees....it's worth a try...( of course I will continue to fix his kind of meals when he wants them like I always have...it's not his weight problem...it's mine).....so....made his breakfast...and I'm sitting down with my coffee...and I'll eat when I feel like it...so far...not hungry (typical).  I will say....I've done this before and fell back into eating with him...out of that old habit since he retired.  I'm curious to see how it goes...I'm also going to journal in a different way today and just let things happen.

5:30  coffee w/ 1 pkt sugar...because I wanted it!  LOL

6:00 Made Dennys breakfast but not mine....watched the news and drank coffee

7:30 Denny heads for the vets office to pick up Nelly, I make my second cup of coffee and unload and reload dishwasher and will nurse this cup over the next couple of hours.

7:45 start doing housework for the day ( making bed, picking up and putting things away) took vitamins

8:45 bath, hair, make up dress

9:05 back to housework and 1 load in washer

9:35 Going to take a break and watch for mail lady...need to mail christmas cards, give her, her christmas tip and Dennys pants should be delivered...hopefully she comes to the door and the pants don't fit in the mailbox...I'm, really happy with what I accomplished this morning...found things to donate, toss out and to go to the basement, also found my missing glove. and lit a candle for the first time in a long time.  Still not wanting breakfast...no wonder I got fat....I was eating when I wasn't needing too....just because Denny was!

11:00  Still waiting for mail lady...Denny brought Nelly home and put her in her kennel to rest and took the rest of his dogs to look for coyote tracks....house is nice and quiet...and I decided I wanted to finally eat something.

1st meal of day = a delicious spoonfull of raw maple cashew butter and a bowl of mixed berries and sliced banana...throughly enjoying that...a lot more than past times when I would have already had a breakfast and a snack by now.  This way of looking at things is looking promising...I enjoyed the food more this way because I chose it because it appealed to me when I was hungry.

Mail lady came and put the package in the mail box....and messed up my plans...LOL...on to plan B.....will put her card in mailbox tomorrow and will make a trip to PO to mail cards....hoping the roads are passable tomorrow. and not slick.

Currently reading  The Manhattan Diet......and enjoying it.....but fell asleep in the chair.

Denny got home at 1 and I made his lunch.....I will eat later if desired.

Folded todays laundry and put away.....and loving the way the place looks......I definately do much better eating when the house is neat and clean.  I  once read the book...Does This Clutter Make my Butt Look Fat?  and loved it....but don't have it anymore.  I guess it does!!!

2:30 2nd mini meal = tuna salad on 6 crackers

Finished reading the Manhattan Diet...started reading Dr Phils bk The 20/20 Diet

5:00  3rd mini meal = ww hummus and protein cracker snack pack,  2 pk nature valley granola bars, green tea

Done eating for the day...settling in for the evening

Progress as of today: 12.2 lbs lost so far, only 98.2 lbs to go!

This sounds a lot like my plan (Naturally Slim)

bearcountrygg on 12/12/2017:
Rooting you on today! We got this!

bearcountrygg on 12/12/2017:
I just went and looked up your naturally slim program jayhawkjen...interesting....my insurance won't cover the cost...looks like it's between $400 and $600...I did watch their sample videos and i like what they teach...sound like a good learning tool. I like that you can eat anything and skipping meals is encouraged.

innerpeace on 12/12/2017:
Yesterday at dinner DH said he wasn't hungry but ate anyway. I ask him why, he said because I was...what the hell!! He does this often. Now that he works third shift I keep telling him, he eats 24 hours a day.

I would give Denny some cooking lessons, can he not make himself something? Unless of course that 's just what you like to do.

Our snow is finally here, I guess I really just want to look at it from afar.

bearcountrygg on 12/12/2017:
Hi IP...I guess it's just easy to eat when someone else is....I see it hasn't done well by me....maybe the light just turned on for me...wish it hadn't taken so long...somehow talking things out here does make them clearer for me. I get why your Hubby does it. Denny actually is a good cook...but I like to cook for him...no problem there....I like to wait on him and he likes me to wait on him...LOL Snow here too......looks like winter...BRRRR

horn_of_plenty on 12/12/2017:
Sounds like you have a good eating plan to try out and see if it works for you.

Nice you found the missing glove. I think i also have to search for a missing pair, so that i can throw out the nice glove i have that i lost the pair to, and so i can use the old pair in my house. and not wear mismatched gloves...confusing, i know!

bearcountrygg on 12/12/2017:
Happy so far...I've eaten a lot less today than usual

i had to actually look up the accurate answer to your question about lox. It's just cured in a brine / salt/sugar rub....and then there's a similar looking prep that's actually cold smoked - called Nova that looks exactly like lox (salmon). so i guess it's not cooked - just cured...but i also i think eat the nova...which is cold smoked after being cured.

but it's definitely not cooked hot, it does look raw on the plate. very tasty. but it is prepared - very salty. very tasty.

bearcountrygg on 12/11/2017:
I don't think I could eat raw fish.....I like the veg sushi but never tried the sea food ones...I can't even eat beef unless it's cooked well....in fact jerky makes me gag....I guess I had,t better try lox then...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 12/11/2017:
LOL, i guess lox and nova are NOT for you :) might as well save your $$$$....they are pricey too!

horn_of_plenty on 12/11/2017:
baked chicken is nice! good job! i've been enjoying rice more these days...very filling when i eat it with my food, especially brown rice or wild rice...i am able to still eat a bit more than i'd like when it's white rice!

horn_of_plenty on 12/11/2017:
yes, i now have 2 gloves that don't match but that work on each hand ;)....i have to really clean my gloves out to see what i have...would def be better to have something matching that is also warm!

bearcountrygg on 12/11/2017:
LOL...it would be better....LOL

horn_of_plenty on 12/11/2017:
and your breakfast sounds satisfying...

if i were home like you all day, i'd eat more watery things at breakfast...like oatmeal and i'd make it somehow extra big...add egg whites...and sweeten it with stevia...like i used to...and cinnamon....and add a little fruit...i'd make something big but low cal and it'd take awhile for me to eat...then once i finsihed the oatmeal, i'd have coffee...and after that some small snack of a handful of nuts and then by the time you finish them, it's lunch....and you can fill up on cooked cabbage soup with loads of veggies, some meat, some chips for dessert for me..and more fruit if i wanted....endless.

i'd be eating all day at home haha.

bearcountrygg on 12/11/2017:
Most days I'm okay until lunch but Denny didn't get home until after 3...so I guess that's why I got snacky...it was our usual lunch time.......I don't get hungry too often actually...I never have...technically...I can wait until 1 or even 2 in the afternoon to even start eating...usually my eating is lead by Denny....LOL

bearcountrygg on 12/11/2017:
Yeah...That's the ticket...it's all his fault...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 12/11/2017:
that's cool you can wait till 1 to eat. there's good things about that - being able to fast with just coffee...as long as you don't overdo the afternoon lol...

bearcountrygg on 12/11/2017:
That can be the catch......it's easy to tell myself that I skipped a meal and it's okay....but for me the bottom line is I eat out of habit...and because denny wants meals served at normal eating times....If I waited to get hungry...I would probably eat once a day out of hunger...I've been that way my whole life...I didn't get the hunger chip...LOL

Accepting that I have a food addiction and am self sabotaging.  After lots of time spent over the last 2 days  I've decided to push on and work on it.  I need to find a healthy way of eating that still lets me eat foods I enjoy but in a way that I'm not bingeng on them.  For years at 104 pounds I had people ask if I was anorexic....I didn't think I was...I had never been a hungry person in general...but I will say...I was very thin for years...I don't thnk I was anorexic....there was no kind of obsession then...no food rationing or obsessive exercising...I was just a thin undereater by nature....but it does now point out to me that I am now the exact opposite.....maybe there is something there...and I'm accepting that......anyway....back to the food diary.

english muffin with 1 strip bacon and 1 egg with coffee

Mid morning snack

2 cookies

Garden salad with cheese, croutons and ranch, and spaghetti and meatballs

Dinner = small bowl mixed berries with banana and a cup of tea

Evening = 1 cup tea, meatballs and 2 almond bars

Progress as of today: 12.2 lbs lost so far, only 98.2 lbs to go!

I love your food diaries, so I'm glad that you're posting them again, as long as posting doesn't cause you any grief.

Maybe incorporating regular exercise is where you need to focus right now? Build up more muscle to speed up the metabolism? IDK... just thinking out loud -- as if *I* had any answers to the weight-loss puzzle, right? If you figure it out, please let me know!

In the meantime, I encourage you in all ways to take care of yourself and be kind & patient to your body.

bearcountrygg on 12/10/2017:
Thank you Donkey! You are always so encouraging. I do need more exercise for sure...I wear out easily but age and joint issues cause me problems...but easing into it has to be easier than expecting too much of myself all at once...I'm sure it will be easier after awhile.

BearCountryGG - Saturday Dec 09, 2017

Well yeah...here I am again but not with a list of foods i ate or didn't eat...but with the realization that food is a symptom of a problem....when I feel better I treat my body better.  I watched an old rerun of a Dr Oz prograqm yesterday....and Jenna Wolfe was on....I'd seen that program before but watched in hopes that while I know how and what to eat.....I don't eat like that.......and  I had hopes that they would persuade me to eat like that........and I learned something totally different...that I didn't expect to learn.

Jenna Wolfe is obsessed with eating the right foods and fitness...that is how she lives every moment of her day, she chugs 20 gulps of water before getting out of bed, diet and fitness are what she lives for, but that isn't me...and I will never be able to live that way because i don't want to.  I don't want to have abs or lift weights or do handstands that magically turn into belly drops and then hop back onto my feet 50 times a day.

I've learned what I should eat and how I should eat over and over again for the last many years....I know what I should do by the book...what I am doing subconsciously and putting into practice is basically thumbing my nose at the usual dieting procedure....it's not that I don't know how to eat healthfully....it's deeper than that...it is self sabotage.

I need to be working on me....not what I eat, my fat is a wall around me that keeps people at a distance.  That is what I need to work on.......not food.

Food has become my friend ( enemy in disquise).....food is fun, tasty, makes me momentarily happy ( certain foods that is)...other foods are for nutrition.....but a nice plate of chicken and salad are not what makes my world go around...veggies are okay...but they don't make me love them......and if I had to survive on them for the rest of my life because that was all that was available I would be grateful for them...but that isn't the case....the store is full of other things that bring me much more happiness when I'm hungry.

I'm going for that momentary happiness instead of mixing some nutrition and happiness in a way that is just healthier all around... I know what to do, I know what to eat....it's just resisting that momentary desire to stuff my face with the goodies (binge)......

I need a happy medium...that will only be found in my own mind....I already know what is good and what is bad food wise....I'm not willing to live on veggies and I am no longer willing to live on junk food just because it is basically junk....and unhealthy......

I'm also unwilling to do things for the rest of my life to stay thi. n once I get there...food makes me happy....I want to live in happiness.

Denny has always told me that diets don't work...because they imply getting it over with and getting off them...well...I don't want to be on a diet for the rest of my life...I know it has to be a lifestyle...but I don't want to live on veggies....( sounding like a broken record here).

I need to find a balance with food....I need to figure out why I keep this fat wall up, I am a solitary person ( only children are often like that).....I'm seeing my food addiction as a real addiction....and while I have never had other types of addiction, my parents were addicted to gambling in their later years from 60 to 80..........and I'm in those years now too.......maybe I need to be learing more about addiction than dieting because it's looking like that may be my main problem.  Jounaling here from time to time will be a help as I work my way through this.....
