Beautiful fall day here........spent most of it on the phone....sister in law wanted us to come to their house for dinner tomorrow...and had to explain the liquid diet...LOL.....they have a new 2 week old granddaughter......we decided I wouldn't be mush fun...LOL....we will get together next month instead.  Found out other sister in law has breast cancer...just heard that cousin has it too a few days ago...is it just me or does it seem like more and more women are being diagnosed with that...maybe its just my age group.....old age stinks.

breakfast was homemade breakfast sandwich

Lunch was hot dog, sauerkraut, carrots and rice

snack was waffle and chocolate

Quaker breakfast bar and a pkg of swedish fish

Progress as of today: 13.4 lbs lost so far, only 112 lbs to go!

innerpeace on 10/09/2017:
I think it's more as well. They say 1 in 8 women will get it now. That's why I didn't want to miss my mammogram appointment, though no close relative of mine has had breast cancer, one never knows.

Wonder if it's something we eat.

Rained all night and it looks like a weekend thing...so planning to get some things done inside this weekend and watch some tv too.  Since I only have 2 days of solid food then 2 days of liquids...I'm working on a variety..........my calf is still sore from the muscle cramps night before last...and I know that after 2 liquid days I was actually dehydrated.  I know how that works....apparently I was holding water before...then all the liquid went in and my system started letting go of what it was holding on to...and just didn't stop...that has happened before.............my system doesn't always do what is expected....the one and only time I took a water pill ( aqua ban over the counter)...I had a reverse reaction....................so....for the next 2 days I will eat a big variety of foods.........and liquids....to prep for Monday.................3 court days down, 2 to go....I seriously want this to be over

homemade breakfast sandwich  made with English muffin, 1 egg, ham, butter and 2 cups coffee

Blood sugar drop...so ate some sweet stuff to raise it...good now

pickled assorted veggies, green beans hamburger on whole wheat bun, chips

I'm sorry that this jury duty stuff is causing you so much inconvenience. I will continue to hope that you'll get through the next 2 calls without obligation. I know it's a civic duty, but what a personal pain for you.

Probably a good idea to put the WW points on hold for now. I still enjoy reading your menus!

bearcountrygg on 10/07/2017:
Thanx....I'm one of 29...it just doesn't seem right to tie people up for 3 months....in one way I'm one of the lucky ones though...the courthouse is only 15 minutes from me...others are having to come from other areas of the county...that are much further away and some are staying in motels overnight the night before...that can be quite an expense for those people who only get $18 for showing up...anyway...this coming Wednesday and then the last one is nov 8th.....so there will be a break. And I'm not worrying about ww now...ater wed will be soon enough to get going on that again.

I'm a free bird once again...todays trial was cancelled....next up.....next Wednesday.  Up part of the night with leg cramps (calf)...funny how HOP and I were just talking about those...after 2 days on only liquids I'm sure I was dehydrated...odd I know...but I swear I got rid of more than I put in...and after a full glass of water at midnight..I finally got the cramps to ease up....and since I have to go back to the all liquid regimine on Monday to prepare for Wednesdays trial...I've made a decision to not count points until after Wednesday....just because these 2 trials are so close together.  I'm missing too much nutrition with the liquids and it's just so foreign to my body....aside from the muscle cramps I'm also having a flare up of reflux.

Until next Monday I can eat....And started this morning with a leftover I've been craving...Pizza

Breakfast  = pizza and coffee

am snack =quaker peanut butter breakfast bar and chocolate

Lunch = beef and veggie shepherds pie and a big bunch of pickled mixed veggies

Progress as of today: 13.4 lbs lost so far, only 112 lbs to go!

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2017:
if the liquids were coffee, that has caffeine and dehydrates.

also, maybe the foods you eat ease out the cramps bc of whatever nutrition they provide, so it's probably a mix of the liquids with lack of the food nutrition :)I hope it doesn't happen again!

bearcountrygg on 10/06/2017:
Me too.....I'm just not going to count ww points until after the next trial....I was obviously getting low on something...so ww will be there next week...

Been awake since 3 this morning but I did sleep well otherwise...............another liquid day and I'm feeling great actually....full of energy with all this liquid I'm spending record amounts of time in the bathroom....LOL...the scales dropped  again...but when I can eat again that affect may change.  Those days awhile back with the chocolate and excess carbs  shot those numbers up a few days ago...so I'm finally making headway on losing that. Anyway...it looks like a beautiful day here today and I plan to get outside for awhile.

black coffee

coffee with creamer

grapefruit juice

orange juice

I can't wait until 5 o clock to make the call to see if the trial is proceeding....only 1 hour and 9 minutes to go!!!!!

I got lucky again....tomorrows trial is cancelled...3 down, 2 to go!

That allowed me actually eat my first solid food in 2 days.

i have been having thigh cramps like i usually do before period, but this one is def the longest amount of days - probably due to also all the walking i did in Colombia? anyways, last night i had to take something bc my right thigh was hurting and it woke me up. ugh! so i feel you with the lack of sleep lol. but thankfully i did go to sleep after.

sleep and lack of it certainly gets to me. especially being athletic, there's no way to train hard without allowing the body to heal inbetween those trainings -- have actually learned this from my prior injury and training experience! so i know this...for a fact. and even if not an athlete - sleep is indefinitely important..

enjoy your day....forget about the lack of sleep & make up for it another nite like tonight!

bearcountrygg on 10/05/2017:
That is one thing about exercise...when you stop the muscle misses it. Denny had a very muscular body as long as he was working ( construction)...but once he retired and didn't work those muscles they basically turned to flab...and now at 69 it's flab and extra skin. I never did have thigh craps during TOM.mine were abdominal...I do now get thigh cramps when I'm dehydrated though...I almost called an ambulance for my 89 year old Mother when she had thigh cramps.she cried for 30 minutes...and then they moved to her abdomen...It really scared both of us.I finally got her to drink some Gatorade and got her off the couch and into bed and she was fine...but it sure scared us. My oldest son used to cramp up while playing football....running and dehydration were his problem and he still does that today too......they are miserable...and sometimes the minute you can finally relax...they hit you again...I feel your pain! OH...and maybe you should put that banan with your purse so it gets to go to work too....and.the potassium in bananas is also good for cramps.

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2017:
thanks ... most people i speak to do not understand what i mean when i say i get thigh cramps. i do not get abdomen cramps. just sometimes lower back in pack of my pelvis bone and mostly the right thigh. only my right side usually. it might be the salt, you are right. either way, it's very persistent this time around. and quite annoying. but i know what to do - if it wakes me up at night, i simply take something and i am able to go back to sleep shortly after which is very helpful.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2017:

My jury duty IBS regimine starts today...picked up the container of yogurt...and decided I didn't want it ...so I've planned my liquid day.........and having my first cup f decaf k cup pumpkin spice coffee.........actually tastes like pumpkin spice hot water...but it will do

So Today I will consume my points in beverages in random order

sorry to hear about the hashimotos...that is terrible that you cannot overeat the cruciferous stuff...i have to google what hashimostos is after i finish writing to you...

about poking yourself in the eye - when i was on my trip, i somehow woke up with a cut on my forehead - no clue how. but it was dried crusted blood and i accidentally picked it and made it bleed again lol when i the morning i figured the cut was something else dried on my forehead....anywho...

i hope friday is canceled too...but why does the coffee taste like water? it's not strong enough? make use more than one somehow? ..it is decaf so maybe you can use two? or just less water for each one? half the water?

bearcountrygg on 10/04/2017:
The decaf was funny..for some reason the first few sips were really weak...and the coffee flavor was at the bottom of the cup later...weird....so the next time I will stir it....I've never had that happen before....must have scratched yourself during the night eh? When I have long nails I poke myself in the eye at night on occasion....so I cut them recently and that had helped......I'm weird...I sleep with my hands under my face...even when I try not to do that...I still wake up like that. I;v woke up with my ring stuck so deep in my cheek that it was painful when I moved my hand...once a coworker thought someone punched me in the eye because my cheekbone was so swollen from waking up with that stuck in my face. If I could get my rings off I would not wear them to bed...but I can't. Hashimotos thyroiditis is the most common form of low thyroid....used to take the meds...but weaned myself off them and I;m winging it...LOL

Up and getting busy around here............some deliveries coming this week and then no more shopping except for absolute necessities as we need them...........We are now stocked with all of the necessities for winter as far as we can tell.  I'm looking forward to the decaf pods tomorrow...never tried those before.  I'm looking forward to emptying the freezer...there are things in there I have totally lost track of.....I love stocking up for winter and then clearing it all out again......Many years ago I shopped by the week but that was when we were near to shopping...it worked at the time...but now with age and remote living...I'm enjoying this...... had my days of pushing a cart with babies...sometimes as many as 3...and pulling a cart for food.....and then getting it all in the car......UGH........it was okay then...now it just seems like a lot of work.  It's time for us to kick back and nest for a few months and I have a stash of books to get through this winter and many bins from moving and my parents house to unpack...I'm ready.  Also have Jury duty coming up 2 times over the next few days...UGH

pickles are good too...they last a long time, but high salt.

another year, you can do your own pickling....add less salt maybe?

have a great day! love hearing from you! i commented on all three of your entries.

bearcountrygg on 10/03/2017:
I'm supposed to go easy on the cruciferous veggies because of Hashimotos...but made the mistake of cooking the whole bag and apparently Denny doesn't like them....UGH....So I'm finishing them off today...but I would say that they are having a not great affect on my thyroid.....old age sucks...BUT...I was about 38 to 40 when the autoimmune aspect entered my life so.....I deal with is usually by eating less cruciferous veggies....I probably won't buy these from schwans again. And I will be glad when they are gone today.

Btw, vinegar has like no calories and has a ton of taste by just adding capful to your salad....if you want to save on calories, vinegar doesn't add any...and a little oil will help your body absorb the vitamins in the salad, or you can add a few olives - instead of olive oil...just a suggestion!

i loved reading all these nice things like the beef broth, brussel sprouts....all healthy!

Heading out early to get a bunch of errands done.....Denny reminded me that in the next 3 weeks we will be getting icy roads, so I really need to step up my game here....while I can get out in the winter to do things at times...I really do not like to...so getting in things that we need now makes a lot more sense than Having to go get them in bad weather out of necessity.....from Nov to april I would prefer to pick my days carefully......since our roads here go for many miles without phone access and have some very deep ditches and do a lot of hills and gullies they can be very dangerous....and since I am a sissy....LOL.....I prefer to nest then.  We have a pretty hefty stash of necessities right now...but will add to it some more just to be safe.  Things like Laundry soap, tp and Kleenex still need to be bought.....vitamins and plastic bags were delivered yesterday.....and the most gigantic jar of  pork rinds I have ever seen was delivered yesterday for Denny....I don't like them but they have no sugar and no carbs so they work well for him....He dug in and was happy as a clam...they do have cals though but not bad.  I may have to give those things another shot....but I would have to be pretty desperate.  More of the tuna pouches arrived too...they are a GREAT WW deal....but eating those daily may mean too much mercury so....I will not be using them that often......it's always something.

I haven't abandoned you, but it's been a difficult end-of-the-week for me. Your selections this week look really good. I miss seeing the WW point totals. Are you still counting?

Your husband's remark about ice storms in 3 months was rather jolting to me. We have weather in common, both of us being in the Midwest, but with the recent heat wave, and apparently another one coming through Chicago early next week, it doesn't really feel like October, and seems way too soon to be talking about ice, LOL.

Looking forward to reading more of your menus. Keep countin' points :-)

bearcountrygg on 09/30/2017:
Hi Donkey....I will go back to adding the points on here....actually I like to see them here too...and I am still counting. We are in the upper part of lower Michigan and it was 35 degrees here this morning...we are in amongst the Federal and State forests...so I think that does contribute to the temps...and I saw the worst car accident this morning...someone must have been really speeding and hit the end of a guard rail...which tore it up and curled it into the air and twisted it so that it covered a whole lane 8 to 10 feet in the air...what a mess..that held up traffic...and happened about 5 minutes before I got to it....I was leaving the the store as the ambulances, fire trucks and police cars flew by....glad I'm home. Hope next week goes better for you...you are lucky to be getting some nicer weather next week...I haven't heard that for us so far....but my flowers are about gone now...last night did a number on them..

horn_of_plenty on 10/02/2017:
Hi BCGG! Happy Saturday (on Monday!)

It’s always nice to get the errands done and outta the way early. That’s what I did on Sunday, driving home from my parents, with the hamster hanging out in my backseat of my car in his cage, I totally left him in there while I picked up some groceries. Car smelled like his bedding when I got back in since the sun was shining…lol….and I promptly opened the car windows for the ride home lol. I’m just glad I recognized the smell and that I generally do not smell of hamster! He’s such a cutie love him to bits! He slept on me like at least half hour on Saturday morning :-P while I took him out at my parent’s house. Even my sister held him and played with him. He’s the MOST gentle creatue!

Yes, I do love the tuna pouches although you are right they cannot be eaten all the time. As for the pork rinds, I find them very hard to stomach also. Still, he should stick to one serving. They prob have salt too. But yes, better eating protein / fat than carbs as a snack. Maybe he can eat them with lunch also, and with veggies…has he started in with any veggies??? Haha. I guess you’ll have to buy frozen for the winter…it’s so different by you!

bearcountrygg on 10/02/2017:
Yup...he eats veggies.......but he has been using the pork rinds for a quick snack....ick.

You have been lucky so far with your JD..! and good eats in moderation, go you! Nice to see an egg with the carbs for breakfast. Nice to see addition of some protein!!!!!! It keep you fuller longer.

bearcountrygg on 09/29/2017:
I'm spending the morning doing laundry and running the dishwasher...and making up a notebook with some goals in it. I seem to do better if I write things down sometimes...other times...not so much....now that the cooler weather is here I will be spending more time at home and in the house...the flowers are dying off and I emptied a couple of pots this morning...the others still have some color...so I left those. Paid some bills this morning and got those out to the box...I understand we have a mean bear around...so being outside just got a little scarier. The loggers have been clearing out so many of our forests this year...I think it's making the bear and deer upset and they are hanging around houses more. I took your advice HOP and ordered some decaf coffee pods....they should come next week....Ups coming today...and twice next week...and Schwans cancelled until the middle of November...so we need to get using what is on hand now...and not replacing unless desperate...time to use up all of the things we shouldn't even have in the house now that Denny is diabetic and I'm counting points. Shopping in the future will be quite different for us...we will never give everything up...but we could do with a lot less of it around. I've hid some things from Denny and I put them on his snack shelf in the kitchen in limited numbers to help him keep from over doing it...problem is nobody is hiding them from me....LOL It is strange to now have to cut his carbs and sugars...because his sugar is HIGH...and My sugar is determined to stay low and I have to have the carbs and sugars to keep mine at a safe level...and I always have to have sugar close by for big drops...that can be quite dangerous...so we have agreed that basically we will be eating separately at different times now...to make it all work.....I'm done with eating at a time that he is hungry just because it's mealtime.....even if I'm not hungry...it seems to be working okay...and neither of us are bothered by it so far...that way I do need to make different meals basically...but it also does not tempt the other to eat things they really shouldn't...it would be better for my points to eat less carbs...but they are the only way I can keep my hypoglycemia in control or near control...so I will never be able to have a no sugar environment for me...so I need to keep it out of Dennys sight..

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2017:
same here - my blood sugar also drops and i tend to crave it to feel better / get back up to something more moderate.

good thing about healthy eating is it's not supposed to be 100%...it's like the 80/20 or similar where you DO have your likes / favorite less healthy things in moderation. too much low sugar and low salt and low fat makes for a very boring diet and a very unhappy person! i agree so much!

lately i feel that eating something fried is more sayisfying to my palate and stomach.

i've been working to tweak my diet / try new things as of late.

lately i do not crave a lot of meat or veggies like where i was last month. it's weird. i still cannot seem to stop myself from overeating on carbs, so i try to take a substantial amount and just stop when i finish whatever i took (like i took half a bagel at lunch so that i didn't have to deal with a full bagel and start to eat beyond the half...)..i only have to currently work on stopping after finishing a substantial serving of carbs...they're always been my weakness lol...but i do not restrict them...i eat them bc they tend to contribute to feeling good...

if you cut his carbs and sugars, do not allow treats like cakes. and i think it's best to eat fruit after a meal bc before it, it just raises the sugars right away. this is also how i eat my carbs...after i eat the veggies and protein or after at least a couple bites of the veggies protein...

you may want to try this approach with your hubby....not to start a meal with carbs (fruit or breads)...because that'll increase his blood sugars more than starting a meal with watery veggies (not potatoes!) and proteins. i read this somewhere. that it has been proven to help.

i agree it's better to only eat when YOU want it...don't just use your points bc of Denny's eating.

better to take care of you...you can still join him at the table with a seltzer, herbal tea, decaf coffee.

bearcountrygg on 09/29/2017:
Denny seems to look for something sweet right after a meal,....he and my parents always look for dessert then...not me...I look for dessert between meals....LOL....I do go on food jags too...today I only wanted protein...possibly because yesterday there wasn't as much...not having a hungry day at all today...it's been an easy one. There has been a lot out there about our brains needing carbs...people on low carb high protein diets are usually grumpy and constipated....but there is a doctor now who says that gluten causes dementia..and pushes a low carb diet...it's hard to know what is true these days. I do know that protein is hard on the kidneys and the older we get the less efficient out kidneys are. I kind of think a well rounded diet is probably the healthiest...including all foods...and you are right about fried foods...we need that oil...our skin, hair and nails need it..ww wants us to have a healthy fat every day...and we have stopped using margarine at our house...we now basically use butter and olive and coconut oils.

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2017:
