(healing the gut...)
Weight: 247.4

Scale continuing to drop...stepping up the cals a bit today to slow it down a little.

Went to Walmart early today...first time driving the new car and first time taking the route I did...still took an hour to get there but it was many miles of nothing but trees...lovely.  Didn't eat until I got home around 11...had a few new little oreo things called churros...still don't know what they were but they were kinda like cake...very small serving.

Lunch was 1 toasted English muffin with butter and natural peanut butter and a cup of hot apple drink

Dinner will be yesterdays leftovers  augratin potatoes with ham, corn on the cob and fresh salad ( mixed lettuce,  red pepper, radish

Evening will be coffee...that's working for me...caffeine never has kept me awake.

Is anyone else here a prepper?  We store shelf stable food for any possible disaster..I've been doing it for the last 17 years...and around here with all the snow...it really comes in handy...keeps me from driving in snowstorms and sliding into ditches.  It also makes meal planning simple since we usually have just about anything at easy reach.  Perishables still need to be picked up regularly but we can also do without those if need be....with the continuing unrest in this country...I really like to be ready in case stores don't have anything on the shelves and gas stations are closed...just makes me feel more secure.

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 117.4 lbs to go!

Weight: 248.0

We went for a ride in the dark last night in the new car to check the headlights...they sure are weird these days...but I love equinox's...this is our third...and we enjoyed the ride...then home again so that hubby could show me the nighttime headlights in his recently purchased truck....very similar....he isn't impressed...me...I'm ok with them...MEN!

Had another nice weight drop today..but I don't want it to happen tooooo fast...that might be unhealthy..so I'm eating a little more today...but never in any kind of quantity..I need to conquer that need to over eat.  I'm feeling great...fluid retention in my lower legs is improving...and 'I'm just in a good happy place right now.  Sleeping great, walking is easier and I'm feeling a definite difference.

Breakfast = banana

Mid morning snack = 1 little fruit cup (pears) and 2 little ternary toasts ( a kind of dry bread with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar that is made by a bakery up here)...sipping my water.

Have to stay home today because the schwans frozen grocery delivery guy will be here....they give me a 3 hour window for their arrival....fine with me...I have a lot of paperwork and phone calls tp make today so I'm plenty busy!

Lunch= 1 cup vegetable chicken stir fry and some chips

Dinner = potatoes augratin with ham and onions, tomatoes and cucumbers

Evening= coffee

Progress as of today: 7.4 lbs lost so far, only 118 lbs to go!

Nice choice on vehicle! An “American Brand” although I’m sure most the parts are not. That’s how it’s been in US for awhile, duh. But the Equinox has a really nice look! What color did you get? And a perfect car for the country roads, I am quite sure! Whenever it comes time to my purchasing a “new-used” vehicle, like in a few years from now, I may actually get an Equinox or another vehicle of similar make that handles the SNOW well.

I’m glad you are doing better. I think a sorta good solution to not eating too little is to make sure to eat most meals…but I’d say if you do not like breakfast, the foregoing it is probably not a bad idea! Many people eat late breakfasts or early lunches. So I would say it’s ok. I am not a person who skips, but I know people who wait to eat till later.

bearcountrygg on 08/18/2017:
The car is a navy blue and looks different in different light, its metallic. All wheel drive is something I have to have here...or 4 wheel drive...but this all wheel drive is fine for me...since I don't have to drive to work in bad weather any more.I can pick the nicest days to go out. I can do just fine not eating until 1 or 2 in the afternoon....been that way my whole life...but I now working on very small servings and it's working fine.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/18/2017:
Yeah, no need to incorporate breakfast if you never did. You are well-trained!

Scales dropped again today...I sure can see why...I really didn't eat much yesterday.....and I'm happy with the way it is all going right now....today is a test run....the lease on our car is running out and so we have to find another lease car today.....so....we will be away from home for hours....my old panic....but it's looking good so far...feeling good....thinking positive.  This a good test......and I keep reminding myself that on the program MY 600 POUND LIFE....those people actually eat  little before and after their surgeries..they live on their fat....so....I'm sure I'm fine doing this for now....

Breakfast = none...just sipping on a little water

Hello there BCGG!

Just make sure not to starve yourself ok ok? – be a good girl but also plenty of people do something called “Intermittent Fasting.” And they typically have a late or no breakfast, only coffee or water as you are. It works for them. I don’t like that way, but it works for them! So maybe your body is best this way, too.

Hey…if you need a bathroom, just use a restaurant bathroom! You’ll be ok BCGG!!! But I do understand your panic as it’s not something you are used to right now. Oh wow that show sounds nutz! I will maybe look for it on YouTube. But I wouldn’t follow what these 600lb people do – because you are NOT the same as them! You don’t wanna eat too little…when you are home, you’ll be able to have a nice meal tonight! include some veggies, babe!

Also, keep up the good work on managing your IBS…!

bearcountrygg on 08/17/2017:
Thank you for the encouragement....it all went really well...got a new car...we were gone for 6 hours and no problems at all....we did stop at mcdonalds and I got a cheeseburger, fries and diet coke...not really the healthiest but we were both starving...it was pouring rain the whole time we were gone. Went through the drive through because while we were gone the electric company texted me that our power was out due to a tree down but that they were working on it...so we didn't want to be gone any longer than needed. That will be my only meal for the day...and it did have onions...LOL...anyway...will probably have coffee a little later...the test run was fantastic...so now since I just ate cheese and diet coke...I will see what happens. Anyway...I'm feeling great...I'd say that it's going well as long as I eat what I need to..I'm actually feeling lighter and that can't be bad...LOL

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/18/2017:
sometimes an indulgence is WORTH IT :) just not EVERYDAY...love that it had onions...don't forget it had tomatoes in the ketchup and pickled cucumber too! haha ;)

(Weight Watchers Online)
Weight: 250.6

It seems like I have been gone forever...but computer is finally working.....and Things have changed around here.  Got a letter a couple of days ago that I would be on jury duty September, October and November!  Now I have irritable bowel syndrome and I have been basically ignoring it since I'm home most of the time anyway....BUT......now I am forced to start eating to manage it...since I'm sure they will not just hold up the trial every time I need to visit the ladies room...UGH......when I worked I managed it out off necessity....but being home has completely turned me into someone who just wanted to eat what she wanted....UGH again....the bad thing is the foods that manage it are full of white flour...but I can't do anything about that...the good thing is it does force me to eat tiny or small meals and those white flour foods do control my low blood sugar too...so maybe it's a better thing over all.  My daily list of foods will seem very weird for a diet post....but it is what it is...actually the scales went down this morning so tiny portions will have to be how it goes.  I had to stop weight watchers, my new normal is totally contrary to their thinking...so....I'm now whipping my gut into shape for the coming trials (I'm set up to serve on 5 max).  Since I have had this for many years along with diverticular disease...I do know mainly what sets me off and what calms me down...so that is where I'm starting from.  Apparently coffee was not my friend!!!!!  But no headaches so YEAH!

Breakfast = banana

Mid morning snack= 2 pop tarts

Lunch= white rice and 1 Tablespoon of a chicken, veg, mushroom stirfry

Evening= NO DINNER but did have 2 cups coffee...testing testing...I really miss my coffee

Nutrition wise this is not good...but keeping in mind I am overweight to begin with so I really don't think I need to worry just yet...I'm keeping a notebook of my reactions so I think I can figure it all out...in the long run this will make my entire life so much more functional....I had gotten in the rut of basically just staying home...and when I had to go out I would white knuckle it....if I make this a way of life like I really should have done a long time ago..then I probably would never have put on all the eight.  I can say that the last time I worked was in 2002...I was a medical secretary and I weighed under 200 pounds then...in fact in 1999 I had gotten my weight down to 167...so a lot of weight went on between 1999 and 2002.  After I quit working it got even worse...but was obviously already out of control right after I got down to 167 on weight watchers...when I stopped going to meetings it jumped right back up and kept going higher than ever before...so now here I am...about 5 pounds under my highest ever..255. ..as much as I truly hate the idea of 3 months of jury duty...I'm having to now look at it as a hidden blessing...it got me back to thinking about fixing myself once and for all.  I'm not missing the food at all...I guess I finally found a reason BIG enough to make me want this more than I want the food.

Progress as of today: 4.8 lbs lost so far, only 120.6 lbs to go!

innerpeace on 08/16/2017:
I had a few pop tarts last week and I had the worst bowel movements ever. I blame the pop tarts because that was the only thing I ate differently.

Good luck.

bearcountrygg on 08/16/2017:
I'm also allergic to several foods and have lactose intolerance....my problem is spending too much time in the bathroom so I have to use counter measures....LOL..pop tarts have always been something that helps...but the calories....WOW.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/16/2017:
Hello BCGG!

Why are you going to be on Jury Duty for three months? Really? Around here you get a letter for one day…and you show up and hope not to be actually chosen for a case! Wow…3 months!? Why!?

I hear you with managing of diet. I also eat more of what I want to when I am home – same as you – but when I work I manage it better for the same reasons – it’s not really fun to be bloated and full of gas at work lol. I know, TMI! You’ll have to mix the fibrous veg with the lower fiber. This is exactly what I do. I usually have some kinda grain / chip with every meal at work for this reason as well as bc I do feel more energy but eating grains with lunch and not only veg and protein…I find myself otherwise (without the grains) craving caffeine which was good when I was just concentrating on calories but the overloading of caffeine ended up causing me other poor side effects. So I ditched it mostly and kept the grains instead!

I’d say we all have a unique variety of food we eat and do not feel bad. Coffee really isn’t my friend either…I really do not need more than 1 cup per day (which is a lot anyways!)

bearcountrygg on 08/16/2017:
In more populated counties in my state the usual jury duty time is 1 trial...but because we are in a rural area...we have to be available for 5 trials ( I will have to call the evening before each one to see if they want me to show up the next day). I'm hoping they don't choose me for any of them but I have to be available for all of them...I really do dread it. So Between my food allergies and lactose intolerance I have to really be careful from now through the middle of November...I'm trying to look at it as an opportunity to finally really clean up my act and start eating what works for my gut instead of what I want...and hope for weight loss out of boredom...LOL

Donkey on 08/16/2017:
So glad you're back! I ended up having to get a new computer to resolve my problem :-(

bearcountrygg on 08/17/2017:
Oh bummer...but ne computers are always nice too.

Donkey on 08/16/2017:
PS Both my husband and a co-worker struggle with IBS. But jury duty is cool!

bearcountrygg on 08/17/2017:
Once I get rid off my main bathroom worry I think I will enjoy it too. And IBS is awful...

Horn_of_plenty on 08/17/2017:
Yes, i think that the jury duty is not the worst thing in the world and now i see how different the service works when in a rural area! I had no idea!

But yes, work with it and your eating....

talk more soon!

bearcountrygg on 08/17/2017:
I'm already doing better....gives me hope.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/17/2017:
I think only Donkey thinks JD is cool! haha...but you can learn a lot, sometimes.

bearcountrygg on 08/17/2017:
LOL.....Jury duty is beyond my control so I'm just preparing to go with it and do what I have to do. In the past they called me or JD but we were an emergency home for abused and neglected babies in our county and since foster care here is government run they let me off. Got me good this time though.

BearCountryGG - Friday Aug 04, 2017

Good Morning!

Big thunderstorms here last night...knocked out the tv and everything....but it's a nice morning so I'm hoping it's a better day.

I made a decision to go back to weight watchers last night...not meetings because they are more than an hour away...but online...so I'm starting this morning.  Weight watchers is how I lost over 55 pounds several years ago...and it is even healthier now since they change the program to fit the times every couple of years or so...it is probably the healthiest program now that I have ever seen....it used to be easy to work in a good bit of junk food...it is not that way any more...you can still have it but they really zing you on the points for it now...and that is what I need right now...I truly am a junk food junky these days.

So...right now I get 32 points per day plus 42 anytime points per week

Breakfast = coffee and banana = 0

Lunch = light and fit yogurt = 2

Dinner  = hot dog on a whole wheat bun with mustard and catsup, and 1 cup of homemade coleslaw and cantalope = 19

Evening snack and necessity to get all of my daily points in...a Kodiak Cakes double chocolate muffin was the perfect points = 11

Happy today went so easily..it works so much better for me to have a very small breakfast..or even none at all...it does make it easier for me to stay on points because I do like to eat something in the evening ,so having points left is perfect.

Progress as of today: 2.2 lbs lost so far, only 123.2 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/04/2017:
We got thunder and rain also this AM! Seems we all shared it - me, you, and IP!

I know weight watchers has helped MANY. It's easy to see how the foods = points and to keep track. I prefer keeping track of calories as i have been counting them well over 10 years and more closer to 15 years of my life, almost all 365 days of the year.

well, you can eat WW junk food which tends to be in pretty small packages, as long as you only stick to one snack! haha.

coleslaw is healthy! where'd you get it homemade!? yum!

bearcountrygg on 08/04/2017:
I made the homemade coleslaw myself

Horn_of_plenty on 08/04/2017:

Hello BCGG!

Yes, if it’s overheating, at least put a fan below it. I did that once, also.

Eating today looks pretty good!...as long as you didn’t eat a whole pint of ice cream…maybe you did! If so, better attempts for tomorrow !

Instead of fries and cheese its, try for some heavy things during the day, but not all heavy things. I like that I read green beans on your entry – good job!!!

I like to mix light foods with heavy foods…like with the braunswager (if you mean a sausage!?) you prob mean a beer…but my example is to mix sausage with cabbage. Heavy and light, but filling.

Enjoy your day!

bearcountrygg on 08/04/2017:
Branswager was deli meat...no beer for me. Just a little ice cream, fries but no cheese..I did have cheezits crackers later.

happy-1 on 08/03/2017:
Good job! Accountable how?

bearcountrygg on 08/04/2017:
I started Weight watchers again...they work for me...so since I lost 55 pounds with them in the past, I;m doing that again.

Computer seems to be working just fine now...I'm happy, I sure didn't want to replace it right now.  Planning on a busy day just doing lots of housework today.  I set up  my old FitDay disc this morning and even with all of the scratches...it still works...actually I LOVE it...it keeps track of carbs, nutrients as well as weight and exercise....that was the best $35 I have ever spent I think......so no more winging it for me...today I start counting....My plan is to keep my calories around 1500.

Breakfast = coffee and apple oatmeal

Lunch = oui French yogurt

Dinner will be sloppy joes, fried potatoes and garden salad

Had a low blood sugar episode so quickly ate some chocolate and it straightened itself out quickly

Cheezits in the evening because there would have been too many hours without eating

ended the day with a little over 1,800 cals

Progress as of today: 4.2 lbs lost so far, only 104.8 lbs to go!

Donkey on 07/29/2017:
I feel your pain. Every time I start up my laptop, I'm praying that this won't be the time it decides to die, LOL.

I can't wait to hear how the FitDay works for you. The right tool can make all of the difference in the world. So glad the disc still works!

BearCountryGG on 07/29/2017:
I actually really enjoy watching it figure out my carbs and nutrients every day...it does make me see where I am lacking in vitamins

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/02/2017:
Hi BCGG! I love that you end in GG even though it means Great Grandma, it was supposed to be my hamster’s name if it were a female it was to be Gym Girlie and to be called the nickname GG….I love being able to call SOMEBODY a GG! Even if you are NOT a female hamster! Hahaha

Yep good thing you didn’t have to replace a computer as with all the antivirus and other software they can cost at least approx. 1K!

I agree a fitbit or any real, complete and HONEST tracking method is the best method. That’s why I track calories – otherwise, I’d totally keep eating to the point of no return everyday. I love to eat. But by counting calories, I only try to eat within limits so that I can stay pretty lean but enjoy eating as much as I can without getting heavy ! LOL.

I love your pairing of caffeine and carbs. My favorite way to have caffeine is like that – with sugar or carbs. I used to pair my granola bar or cookie before the gym with caffeine too…but now I stick to sf drinks without caffeine in the afternoon before gym bc it was affecting my sleep too much by drinking caffeine in the afternoons after work….ah well!

I’d love that dinner….nice to have a bit of sloppy joe and fried potato on the fork with a tomato or piece of lettuce! That’s a GOOOOOO DMIXXXX!

I tend to get low blood sugar too…I can tell and also eating some carbs always helps me too.

Excellent calories if they were 1800 you don’t gain weight! And depending on your weight, it might even mean weight loss.
