A distraught senior citizen phoned her doctor’s office.

“Is it true,” she wanted to know, “that the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?”

“Yes, I’m afraid so,” the doctor told her.

There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, “I’m wondering, then, just how serious is my condition, because this prescription is marked ‘NO REFILLS.’”

Hoping to join up with a freind here to keep me on track.

Only 3 more days then my paleo food arrives.  I have been really loving my Samart Ones meals.

Also, has anyone signed up for the WW 100$ weight loss give away?  I'm seriously thinking about joining.  Maybe a meeting or two will help me get back on track.

I'm going to check my health insurance and see if ww is covered.  It may be worth it.

To Do...

Check Health Insurance fringe benefits

Call WW's and find out how it works

The editor of a small country newspaper, furious over several government bills that had recently been passed, printed a scathing editorial with an enormous headline:

Many local politicians were outraged and exerted tremendous pressure on him to print a retraction. He finally gave in to the pressure and ran his apology with the headline:

Stressful day yesterday -  had an extra cup of icecream with syrup - comfort food!!

Need to get to the grocery store for more of those.  Just ordered a box of food from a paleo diet place (groupon)  It is to be delivered May 2nd.  Very eager to have this  as it is a whole month meal plan and I believe it coveres all meals for the day.  I have such a hard time planning my meals.  I wish I could afford a cook or maybe I need to see a therapist to help me learn that it is a good thing to take time to cook or prep meals.  I honestly don't know when I got so lazy.  I was married in 1987 - had 4 kids by 1995 - was a stay at home mom unitl 2006 - that was 19 years of B, L, D all prepared for the family by me.  I did it all - and never really minded - I hosted families over for Sunday brunch - had week day lunches with other moms  - I was very active - planned parties - then I started working in 2006 and found myself sooo exhausted by Friday - then I just kept skipping things so I could rest as I came home so drained.  (I'm not 20 any more I guess).  Oh well.... maybe once the paleo food comes and I have a month of eating right under my belt I will extend myself into the kitchen.  Who knows!!

Thank goodness for this Group!!

Have a super day everyone!!

Any advice welcome!

To make you feel better, I hardly cook. I don't like to spend my time doing it - SO I DON'T! I buy my food, spend extra cash than if I make it myself but I've learned to take it as that at least i'm buying healthy things...and planning to eat well by buying the right things (lots of cooked veggies - tonight I pick up more food, actually! To get me thru into the weekend!)

if you are ordering food, you can still eat extra veggies to fill yourself up more. you never need to go hungry or not full. I always eat PAST full if veggies are a big part of my meals.

and kombucha in the AM helps with digesting it all and being able to do it all over again the next day.

cybermom4 on 04/27/2016:
LOL That does make me feel better. :-) Thanks Coach!!

I am alone and still enjoy cooking for myself at time we are two and that is even more fun to cook but I have always loved to cook and I love to invent dishes. I shop every 3 days for all my fresh veg and fruit and protein I do not stock up the house because I find I wast too much that way. Good luck with your order of food we all do it our own way and this could be the way to go for you.

A land surveyor was tasked with mapping a golf course that was expanding from 9 holes to 18 holes.  He needed a stout machete to clear thick brush as he went.  Along the way, he came upon a golf club that an irate player must have hurled into the woods.  It was in good condition, so he picked it up and continued on.

When he broke out of the brush onto a putting green, two golfers stared at him in awe. After all, he had a machete in one hand, a golf club in the other, and behind him was a clear-cut swath leading out of the woods!

"There," said one of the golfers, "is a guy who really hates to lose a ball!"

Morning Mom! Cute joke as always. I like the short reads in the AM!

It's AM here, Monday morning sorta late for me, 6:20am. I'm drinking my kombucha too.

Pineapple is good, sorta low cal as a fruit, I believe. Cantelope is a nice choice too. I've always preferred honeydew over cantelope though! my dad used to cut them both up together I remember when we were growing up. He'd serve us both for dessert.

This guy goes into a doctor's office. The doctor says, "Oh, Mr. Jones! We have the results of your test. Do you want the bad news first or the very bad news?"

The guy shrugs and says, "Well, I guess I'll have the bad news first."

"Well the bad news is, you have 24 hours to live," the doctor replies.

The man is distraught, "24 hours to live?! That's horrible! What could be worse than that? What's the VERY bad news?"

The doctor folds his hands and sighs, "The very bad news is...I've been trying to contact you since yesterday."

Had a good day yesterday - went and bought a container of fresh fruit and that definitely helped.

B - fruit

L - Smart Ones meal

D - Smart Ones meal and steamed cauliflower

Progress as of today: 2.6 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/20/2016:
yes, try to eat the fruit over a period of time so that you can have the sugar over a period of time and not all at once.

If I had the fruit, i'd eat it on and off while sipping some sorta caffeine drink... would be fun for me in morning.

Post a pic of your hairdo! I think i'll get mine trimmed soon too...though i'm happy not to dye it yet & just trying to grow it out again! yay!

Good day! Regarding the gray hair - I gave up some years ago - I am now gray - well salt and pepper. I got so tired of trying to keep up with the color - but I did color for many years. Plus I am older and should have gray hair - I don't mind it - kind of looks highlighted - that's what I tell myself, anyway! LOL

There was once an accounting firm where the senior CPA knew everything there was to know about accounting. He could answer any question. He knew all the tax laws. There wasn't a better accountant anywhere.

Every morning when he came to work, he would unlock his desk drawer, open it up and look inside for a moment, and then close and lock it again. This puzzled all of his co-workers, because it was the only eccentricity that this genius exhibited. For years no one dared to breach etiquette and snoop through his desk, but his odd behavior became something of a legend around the office.

One day when the elderly man was home sick, one junior accountant could control himself no longer. Taking a letter opener he carefully pried open the desk lock. Inside he found one sheet of paper, and written in large letters was:

This is so me.... I have to have cheat sheets all around me.  Hey, whatever works right!!  I'm in a cyber environment with everyone between age 26-36  (AKA digital natives) and I'm in my almost mid 50's.  Gotta keep up and I'm okay with it LOL  !!

Had lunch as planned and it was very nice actually.  I could tell my body was 'thanking me' for the refreshment.  I drank lots of water.  But my sugar craving came on around 4:30 and I had to have a tasty cake.  I hated it !!  I will not eat them again.  It was just junk and I hated myself for eating it.  I even made sure I drank water on the drive home like HOP suggested (a snack) but the craving just 'hit me'.  Well, I'm on the offense now.  When sugar craving hits - drink water or lemon water.

I'm tired of this yo yo I'm on.  One minute I am embracing my curves  and finding cute outfits to wear- the next minute I'm hating my curves and body.  I'm not sure what to tell my self at this time.  Why do I have this 'all or nothing' approach?

Any advice welcome :

Progress as of today: 2.6 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

puddles on 04/19/2016:
The trick to the sugar is to eliminate it for two week and your body will stop craving it yes it will be a rough two weeks but it works. I use to crave sugar all the time - loved my desert and now I rarely think about it and when there is a cake or something at a dinner I attend it does not have the appeal it use to have. Believe me if it worked for me it can work for everybody. Good luck.

cybermom4 on 04/19/2016:
Thanks Puddles - how did you get through the two weeks?? Did you substitute something instead of the sugar. I am like a bear in the kitchen!

puddles on 04/19/2016:
No did not substitute just dug my heels in the ground and made it through. It works believe me. Just make sure you have nothing in the house that even looks, sounds, taste like sugar and do not bring or buy anything of that nature.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/19/2016:
Just proves the point of the exact thing you wrote to me about in my entry. And proves to me and the rest that everything is much simpler than we make it out to be. I'm totally talking about the Joke / advice you give today at the beginning of your entry. Simplifying things is so much easier than worrying about them or thinking that everything is so much more complicated than things really are. I'll try to slow down as well & simplify myself for a bit longer :)

yes, take the snack on the way home. I drink seltzer often to fill myself up further with bubbles and flavor. Sometimes I sweeten it extra with stevia. that & fruit is sufficient for my 30-40min ride home.

I am an "all or nothing person" also. It's rough to live this way. Because it doesn't need to be all or nothing.

I'm trying to give myself some leeway to indulge more often right now and just rest up more, even though it's totally not the all or nothing approach that i'm used to- i'm beginning to be able to indulge a little more & without a full out binge...see, even at 33 i'm learning. lol...now you are gonna be mad at me bc i'm flaunting being you...but really, is 33yrs old really that young? I don't think so anymore. Def not a teen, or 20-something.

I really am not so young :) quite an adult, although I do hate adulting! hahaha.

have a great one!

~ Q. How is golf like taxes?
A. Well, you drive hard to get to the green, and then you wind up in the hole.

~ Worried about an IRS audit?  Avoid what's called a red flag.  That's something the IRS always looks for.  For example, say you have some money left in your bank account after paying taxes.  That's a red flag.

~ What's the difference between a taxidermist and a tax collector?
A. The taxidermist takes just the skin.

~ I'm not going to pay taxes.  When they say I'm going to prison, I'll say "No, prisons cost taxpayers a lot of money.  You keep what it would have cost to incarcerate me, and we'll call it even."

OK - I think I am on to something.  I purchased 5 Smart Ones meals at the grocery store.  They were on sale 5/ 10.00.  That seemed like an okay price.  The meals are okay but the point is - I am eating and losing.  (fingers crossed that this keeps working)

My typical pattern is to not eat all day long and to binge when I get home.  I know in my head that is wrong but I get so busy at work, I don't stop to take a break.  Today - I am packing a meal and taking a lunch break.  Also started drinking Bai vitamine water.  My husband brought a case home and it is really refreshing.  I also ordered another 2 cases of Kombucha.

Here's to a new day with lunch at work!

I really should be good now on my liquid intake.

I'm not so angry with taxes. I was able to save around $1,400 of my tax return this year :) The rest I used (the other half!) to pay off my credit card. Spent way too much leading up to the wedding!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/18/2016:
Oh, we are thinking alike! I purchased SEVEN smart ones (I had a coupon that said I have to purchase seven to get the deal....AND ADDITIONALLY they were all on sale I think $2 each!!)...Yes, we had the same sale! I like Smart Ones. I like then better usually than lean cuisine! I usually add things to the meals though. Like veggies or I mix them with very low cal shirataki noodles or cabbage or something! they are small meals for sure...

try to eat also ON YOUR WAY HOME. this is what I do. on the 1/2 hr or so drive, I eat a fruit and drink lots of seltzer...to try to lesson my appetite for when I get home!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/18/2016:

Max went into the doctor's office for his annual checkup, and the Doc asked if there was anything unusual he should know about.
So Max told the Doc that his suit must have shrunk over the last year, because it didn't fit when he went to get ready for a wedding recently.
The Doc said, "Suits don't shrink just sitting in a closet. You probably put on a few pounds."
"That's just it, Doc, I know I haven't gained a single pound since the last time I wore it."
"Well, then," said Doc, "You must have a case of Furniture Disease."
"What in the world is Furniture Disease?" asked Max.
"That's when your chest starts sliding down into your drawers."

 If lawyers are disbarred
and clergymen defrocked,

doesn't it follow that. . .

electricians could be delighted,
musicians denoted,
cowboys deranged,
models deposed,
and dry cleaners depressed?

Wouldn't you expect laundry workers to decrease, eventually becoming depressed and depleted?

Likewise, bedmakers might be debunked,
baseball players debased,
bulldozer operators degraded,
organ donors delivered,
software engineers detested, and
underwear manufacturers debriefed.

And won't all composers one day decompose?

On a more positive note, perhaps we can hope politicians will someday be devoted.
