Exercise: 65 min crosstrainer, 25 min running; Weight training: NONE; Calories: 1851 -- just over the high range for my calories; I just ruined my daily caloric intake with some "innocent" M&Ms. That'll be enough of THEM!

I was really unmotivated to run this morning, but I thought about it and pushed myself to go. I purposely did not run yesterday because I knew that today's weather would be much kinder. And it was. But I was tired, and lazy and really didn't want to do it. But the minimum requirement for me trying to become a runner is to run for a minimum of 20min 3x a week. So I did that.

Progress as of today: 7.5 lbs lost so far, only 6.5 lbs to go!

Why is it activity breeds activity and inactivity breeds inactivity? I know if I force myself to "just do it" I will feel so much better, more energetic and be so glad I did. The weather here is better. Hope your Labor Day Weekend is good!

I'm keeping this short and sweet because it has been one of those days that is just better forgotten.

I did not run today, as I was waiting for cooler, less humid weather to come. It has come so hopefully it will happen tomorrow. (Husband has the day off though so I don't know WHAT will happen.)

I could tell that my legs were tired, because the crosstrainer was harder than usual, even though I was on a lighter resistance level (10). So I think I will not be doing higher resistances but rather concentrate on the running.

Progress as of today: 7.5 lbs lost so far, only 6.5 lbs to go!

I think you are doing incredibly well with the exercise. I'm not surprised your legs are feeling tired !!! We've already got the cooler weather here and I wish it was a bit warmer!! We are never satisfied, are we ???

All in all not too bad of a day, but now it is hot and humid once again and I feel very unmotivated to do anything.

I could have gotten up early to go to the gym, but I opted to turn off my alarm and sleep in. Then I went after my daughter left on the school bus. Problem is, damn bus was 15 minutes late! So I didn't get to the gym until after 9a.

It's nicer to get up early and exercise because it is significantly cooler. Plus, then I have more of my day available to me. However, physically speaking it is *very* *difficult* *to* *do*.

I hope I don't regret working my legs so much tomorrow. They already ache a little bit more than I would like. If I do decide to run tomorrow... well, the ache could get in the way of a good run (if there is such a thing as a "good run" LOL).

ahhh, you're doing wonderfully! great decision to go back to school. i know people who are billers and that is a good way to make some extra money!

i am nervous that i'm not going to get into a radiography program!!!! :( they are sooooo small. like 10 students in each class! and, there are only 4 schools in my county...i'd rather not have to apply to schools in NYC or another county. I'd work in the city...but i don't have the cash to spend commuting there when i'm in school! you know how it is, i need those extra dimes and nickels...it would be so much effort just to go to school. LOL, but if i have to, maybe I will...

i shouldn't put such restrictions on things! I think my chances are good...but how good!? will my references pay off??? will they say the appropriate things to land me into radiological tech school???? or will i be in bigger trouble by the middle of this year...when i'm not accepted AND i can't play music! ooohh, i'd be in SUCH BIG trouble...its not even funny!

Exercise: 65 min elliptical crosstrainer, 45 min running; Weight Training: NONE; Calories: 1730.

I will have an edit towards the end of the day to report final calories. If you will notice 2 things: I weighed in this morning and have recorded an accurate weight in the weight tracker, and I went running this morning after the kids went to school.

My goal is to run 3x a week, for a minimum of 20 minutes, although I PLAN to follow a 10k training program, which usually entails 40 minutes of running 3-4 days a week.

I felt very positive about sending the kids off to school this year. I heard a couple of good things about my son's class, that is teacher is "very good" (this opinion from the lady who said that his last year's teacher was "very good" and she was) AND that he might have 2 friends from the neighborhood in his class too. So he already knows a third of the class! So hopefully he will not isolate himself so much this year (a main sign of Asperger's). But I was really glad to hear that this neighbor lady thought that his teacher was VERY good. Because my other neighbor said the teacher was STRICT :-( and not fun. Well, come to think of it, that "other neighbor" is kind of a snot, whereas the lady I spoke to today is a nice person.

I just hope the kids come home today feeling good about school.

I also wanted to mention that being inspired by Horn Of Plenty to pursue radiology studies, I am contemplating taking coursework to become either a medical transcriptionist or something with medical billing. Thanks HOP!!

Hi! Your last entries are full of good news: your new more comfortable weight goal, interest to career change and kids having a great day at new school! Really glad for your progress: you're right - setting comfortable goals is a part of success in reaching them without stress and then you can move further more if you wish. Answering your question about my weight goal: I used to be 110 lb as an adult for a while and I was happy and comfortable, I was MYSELF in that weight. It may look so far away but this number is like an engine to me: never lets me relax, pushing me forward. Thanks for your continuing support!

I made some changes in my goals today. I decided that my Goal Weight will now be 130.0, and that once I reach my goal, I will have to maintain it for at least 3 months (preferably 6 months) before I decide if I want to lose more weight after that or not.

Since I increased my Goal Weight, I also decided that I want to reach this weight (of 130) by Oct. 31 (2007). I actually have until the end of this year to reach my goal, but since there are holidays and temptations towards the end of the year, I thought it would be best to try my hardest to reach my goal BEFORE the holidays.

To be accurate about my goals, then, I will weigh in tomorrow morning and change my weight tracker to reflect my Current Weight -- which I'm afraid will be somewhere around 138.

So that's the short story. If you want to know my justifications for these changes, please continue to read...

I changed my goal weight because I needed something that was a little more realistic for me to attain. I have to work very hard to get down to 125. I believe 130 to be more manageable. Keep in mind that I weighed 130 in 7th or 8th grade, and when I graduated high school, I weighed 155. So even though I am short, this is still an accomplishment.

I set my time goal because I do not want to start 2008 STILL trying to lose weight. I have to have a goal that I can reach by the end of the year. I need to get my focus off of losing weight and more towards other goals, whether that be maintaining, or running a 5k, or trying a new sport or whatever.

It is self-defeating to have a goal weight that one cannot reach.

The scale said 138.5 again. I may have to change my weight tracker here AGAIN to reflect my weight more accurately if it doesn't continue to go down soon.

Made it to the gym today! YAY! I tried going back to a harder resistance for a shorter period of time. This might be something that I do every other day. Tomorrow is a rest day for cardio. That's what happens when you get past a certain age. you have to start taking "rest days". Eventually, I will need to take 2 days off. I already do that sometimes, especially if Husband has to work over the weekends (which he usually does). But I can still get away with working out 6 days a week.

Today was a birthday party, and get this: I was able to STOP eating birthday cake after ONE SLICE. I was hanging around to scrape the remains of frosting and cake on the cake sheet. There was quite a bit, as the lady cutting the cake was doing a horrible job. So I'm sitting there waiting, but secretly I'm battling my willpower to walk away because I didn't need to have those extra calories. I know how easily something like birthday cake can RUIN a calorie count. And so I walked away from the table, threw away my plate and decided if I needed something else to fill me, I could have another Diet Pepsi.

(This reminds me that I also managed to get through the day/party and not have a beer.)

That was a HUGE thing for me to do. And that's not to say that it will be like that every time, but when it happens, it's kind of nice to acknowledge that.

Wahoo! You made it to the gym: that rocks! I love going to the gym it makes me feel SO much better afterward. This whole summer I had work out equipment in the room right next door to me but now being back at school I have to walk two blocks to the gym...but I am really excited to start my membership at this new gym I just signed up for yesterday: it seems amazing, and the people there are all so level headed...probably because they all work out a lot too! haha! Oh no no no, you dont need rest days! Never!! haha! Just drink some caffiene and go for it: unless of course you dont consume caffiene, then never mind!! Congrats on being able to stop after one slice of b-day cake! I am just like you though, when there are scraps on a pan or something, I am always there waiting until people are not looking so I can lick them off! hahahaha! But congrats on NOT scraping the rest of the cake off the pan!!! I love when that happens! hahaha! :) Oh and by the way, thank you so much for all your comments, I really appreciate them!!

Good job on walking away from the cake. My FAVORITE part is the crumbs left over - not sue why - I guess I feel like it's not a "real" serviing - but that can't be right because it causes "real" weight gain! Ha-ha

Exercise: 65 minute crosstrainer (single hill); Weight training: NONE -- but can I add 4 hours of school shopping as more cardio?; Calories: 1550 (I decided to have a dish of ice cream instead of a fiber bar; how bad is THAT??).

I made an error in yesterday's exercise report. I did intervals instead of a hill program. Today I did the hill program, and I don't know what happened, but oh man, I totally exceeded calories burned, strides, and mileage. So I think it's time to increase the resistance a notch to make it more challenging.

Husband is home today and this weekend. He is already driving me nuts, but he is out getting his errands done FIRST, which is all I asked of him in the first place (to get stuff done FIRST and then relax AFTER).

Wet and rainy here today. Probably no outdoor activities... Weight is down to 138.5, so I'm slowly losing what I put on from my pizza fest the other day. Might have been better but we went out for Mexican food last night. Oof!

EVENING EDIT: What an awesome day! I'm not very pleased at all the money I spent today for the kids to go back to school, but what had to be done, had to be done. I am glad that I got it done and over with and now I can put it behind me -- at least until the credit card bill shows up (ha ha). But I'm keeping track of what I'm spending, and that's a good thing.

Today we signed papers that declare that the offer on our old house we were selling has fallen through. So we did not sell our house (not the one we are living in now, the one I moved from in Feb.). We are now thinking that maybe we should rent out the empty house, since we really don't want it to be vacant, and the selling market is so bad right now. If we can do this, it would be great because then our old house becomes an investment, not a burden. I have to do more research on this before plunging into it. In the meantime, our house stays on the market for sale. :-(

In spite all of this stress, I did really well eating wise. I am so proud of myself!!! It is not often that I feel this good about myself or my efforts, but I did good.

Sounds like you are doing a great job with the exercise. My sympathies on the having to relose weight gained inadvertantly!! I have been losing, gaining and losing again the same five pounds for weeks!!! Time to make a big effort I think :o)

you definitely offer some good advice...and i will apply to the job...after hearing your comments and listening to others all tell me the same thing. There are many people out there that may have already applied...as it was posted thursday. LOL. so, i should have just applied...i will not miss the radiography observation, NO MATTER what. too bad my suits don't fit!!!! I'd have to buy one...and return it!?...eh.

Believe it or not, after everything that prevented me from exercising... Today on the way to the gym, I found out that the main road to the gym was flooded, and hence closed. So I had to take a detour. It's like God doesn't want me to workout any more, I swear. Well, ok, no offense, but sometimes it seems as though the cards are stacked against me.

So I had a wonderful cardio workout at the gym. No time for weight training, but that's ok. I think I may resume that on Monday. I'm just so happy I have a functioning vehicle back and I can go to the gym. This morning, I weighed in at 139.5, thanks to eating too much pizza last night. Now isn't that just what Donkey does? She breaks through her plateau of 136 and then bounces right back up to nearly 140. UGH, how SELF-DEFEATING!!!

Tonight we met the kids' teachers for the year. I like my son's teacher a lot. I do not like my daughter's teacher at all. But first impressions can be incorrect. I feel it was important to get a good impression of my son's teacher, since I will be working closely with her at the beginning of the year to address any concerns she has about my son's Asperger behaviors. I think he will like his class though. I did notice that he did seem a little nervous (finger flapping). I have to wonder if school isn't just overwhelming for him, not academically but everything else: social, stimuli, etc. OK, I must remain optimistic, so enough about that.

I always feel like i've overcome tremendous obstacles when i'm able to exercise on a day when it's just not in the cards for me. So you should feel very proud of yourself for getting there and getting it done!!

Yes, Donkey finally got off her fat donkey and got some exercise, can you believe it??!! We had storms this morning that kept me up half the night, so no chance of me getting up early for a jog or a walk. Since my son fouled up the settings on the tv downstairs that the kids watch, there was no tv today for them. So I decided we would all go on a bike ride instead.

Good thing we went when we did, because as we were coming home, even with the breeze that comes from riding a bike, it was already starting to get hot and humid and sticky and icky.

The best news is that I got my car back!!! So I am going to the gym tomorrow that is for sure!!! (Now watch the gym be closed due to flooding or an electrical outage or something. That's what you call Donkey Luck, friends.)

I am sure by now that my weight is back up to 136 or worse. I do not know if I will start up with weight training too, right away, or just focus on cardio or what to do. I will think about this tonight and see how it goes tomorrow.

So now that it has stopped raining, it is completely hot and humid outside. Miserable, but I'll be durned if I'm turning that AC on again.

I will not get my car back until tomorrow afternoon, after Husband is done with work. So probably no gym for me tomorrow. Funny thing, now that I'm not exercising, I'm getting all these aches and pains in my hamstring (left) and in my knee (right). And this is without doing anything!

I miss the gym. Even that kinda-creepy guy at the front desk that calls me by my full name.

i should be finding out about the mri results any day now...i'm very curious about them myself. :)

i think i can go observe really soon....i plan to go next week if possible to observe radiology...I'm calling up again later today.

i changed my mind on nursing because i think that radiology is a less-stressful job and, for some reason, my mom supports it 100% more than nursing. also, i see that if i work many hours, i could potentially make more money than teaching in the long run. of course, i'll need experience first. also, it would be more hours than teaching...i wouldn't be off in the summer, for example. also, i like that it's a two year educational program...and that all the schools are close by...and not very expensive. under 10,000 dollars for the two years...which really isn't bad.

you may be getting aches due to not moving around...this happens to be frequently when i take a few days off. I will start to feel tight due to lack of muscle movement!!! yuck. and, there is the opposite effect...when i start to exercise mutliple times per day, i start to feel extra flexible...which i love!
