(Low carb eating w recumbent bike, yoga, weights)
Weight: 138.5

Feeling uplifted this morning.  Maybe it's because it's Friday,  but I think it's because I treated myself better.  I ate more reasonably,  exercised WITH WEIGHTS (lol), slept well.

Ironically,  now that the gym is closed,  I'm doing more weights.  So my exercise stuff is in the basement.  Husband decided he wanted to listen to a rerun broadcast of an old baseball game on the radio.  (YUCK)  So I got my dumbbells and took them upstairs so that I could watch tv and do weights.   PRIORITIES!  I could have chosen to just watch tv, but I'm feeling a lot more motivated to make some upper body gains, in this time of isolation.  I'm itching for another monthly push up challenge!

Last night was biceps, triceps, and a little shoulder work.

I just realized that maybe the reason why I'm not practicing yoga is because I've always felt it was a social thing for me,  not a solitary activity.  Hmm... I'm going to ponder this.  I really do miss yoga.

Progress as of today: 48 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 03/27/2020:
I am SO GLAD you are feeling better today and that the weekend is here for you, too!

Yes, i can totally see how you'd be doing more weights since you are exercising at home....THANK GOSH we paid and planned and have our home fitness equipment!!!!! oh how lucky we are (to have indoor weights / bikes / equip) at this crazy time! of course it's a time nobody should have to experience, but, we can be thankful we have our home resources.

no reason why you can't do a ShORT yoga session at home. if you limit it to a smaller, more manageable amount, it may be easier. even like 10 minutes or 15 minutes is better than nothing...i know it's hard to instill new activities / habits at home.

also, you are working, so compared to myself, i'm guessing your time was pretty limited this week!

Donkey on 03/28/2020:
You are 100% correct - there is no reason why I cannot do a short yoga session at home. Why am I so resistant to doing this?

bearcountrygg on 03/27/2020:
You sound motivated to me.......!!! Good!!

Donkey on 03/28/2020:
Thank you :-) I'm not sure if it's actual motivation or more like resignation. This is how things are going to be, probably for another month.... maybe longer...

However, this feeling sure does beat being down in the dumps, that's for sure!

I would invite anyone - including myself,  if I'm reading this entry retrospectively some time in the future - to read my replies to yesterday's comments.  Your comments really helped me realize what was bothering me:  distraction,  lack of focus,  loneliness.  I appreciate all support.  I cannot thank you enough for your help.   I am ready to move forward,  wiser, carefully.

I come to the realization that I need help with my eating.  I've become terribly unbalanced.  Last night,  we had take-out ,  to support a local business,  and it was like I could not eat enough.  Not a binge but just really poor choices and lack of restraint & self-discipline .    Then I had too many chocolates. Again, lack of focus, lack of balance.

Needless to say,  my whole digestive system is upset this morning.  Not the best way to start a day.  And because I wasn't feeling too good,  my day got off to a late start,  so now I'm scrambling .   Oh well. ..

Part of the problem is that I missed my noon walk so that I could leave at 4p.   I need to get out of the office in the middle of the day.  Take a break. A REAL break.  Also,  I did not make good use of the extra hour I had at home.  So that whole idea backfired on me.   Again,  if I'm leaving early,  it needs to be EARLY, like midday, and I'm too busy at work to do that right now  unfortunately.

The better lesson is that my time of must be *intentional* and not just trying to squeeze in time off.

Did chest and back weights last night -  YES!!!  That is a positive. Let's leave on this positive note :-)

Innerpeace on 03/26/2020:
I can relate to unbalanced eating! My husband is terribly angry right now, so much so, I think he makes himself sick with upset stomach and diarrhea. Is it anger or worry, I can't tell.

I hope you have a better day and can find time for your breaks and walk and just enjoy some of the day.

Donkey on 03/27/2020:
Thank you! I had a lovely walk yesterday. What a difference!

Donkey on 03/27/2020:
I empathize with your husband. I doubt think I'm experiencing anger... This situation sure does reveal people's true colors though.

I have a quiet dislike for some people, now.

bearcountrygg on 03/26/2020:
D seems to be frustrated now too.......i suspect it's because we really can't do what we want to do....we feel trapped.....I'm hearing a lot of people eating differently right now...most...are overeating....you aren't alone.

Donkey on 03/27/2020:
Logged into my laptop to respond :-)

I've heard a lot of people struggling with eating lately too. I think it's a natural response - stress, boredom, change in routine, etc. So I know I'm not alone - and in a weird sort of way, that's nice to know. Kind of like, we're all in this together.

"Frustrated" is a good word for what I'm feeling lately -- maybe what a lot of us are feeling. For myself, I'm not sure it's feeling trapped - although I can certainly understand other people feeling trapped, indeed. For me, I think it's more about the uncertainty -- which is why it's even more important now to remain calm.

I'm an introvert and a homebody, so this shelter-down has not changed my life too much. On the other hand, a extrovert go-getter like my boss is really struggling with staying at home on weekends with his wife. And, as I'm sure you can relate, our weather is not really conducive to being outside. If it were warmer, he could work out in the yard. I would like to do that too.

My backyard has these large willow trees - and I have a TON of branches that I would like to gather up to be hauled away. If it were warmer and not raining, I could start working on that. Unfortunately, we're expecting really bad storms over the weekend... *sigh*

Horn_of_plenty on 03/26/2020:
try to stick with your walk, even if other people aren't taking theirs.

i TOTALLY get you about leaving work earlier and how early is early enough in order to actually accomplish something extra when you get home....TOTALLY get you 100%.

try to stick with what is good for you and try not to feel bad about it. continue to take care of yourself during this crisis.

one day of poor eating isn't a whole totally unbalanced thing. you can get back on your wagon :)

also, i'm glad you did the weights :)

Donkey on 03/27/2020:
I'm trying, gotta keep on tryin'! I'm seeing each day, moving forward, as an opportunity to try. Try what? To stay focused, calm, positive, quiet, content.

I'll write about weights in today's entry :-)

(Low carb eating w recumbent bike, yoga, weights)
Weight: 138.5

After today,  the next 4 days are going to be rainy and cloudy,  so I hope to get outside as much as possible to enjoy the sun and warmer temperatures today.   I did not get to leave early yesterday - too busy.  I will try again, but my task list today is longer than it was yesterday so I'm not too hopeful about that.

As I thought,  my husband did not work on my laptop /TV yesterday . I hope he will today.  I would really like to try the Fancy Gym yoga classes online...  I'm not doing any yoga, other than working on balancing on one leg.

OMG I have to tell you about the work drama.  So ALL last week ,  Nice Lady was pitching a fit about how she wanted to work from home.  That's all I heard about - that's all everyone heard about.  Associate Attorney even went to the boss on her behalf to ask him if she could take the computer home.  On Friday,  the boss finally agreed.  She came and got her computer on Saturday.  Monday was so nice and quiet,  I could actually get my work done.

She comes into the office yesterday  (stayed 10a-4p with no computer ) because she needed an ethernet cable and her son was putting together her desk.  By the end of the day,  though,  she decided she wasn't going to work from home any more because she's too depressed working from home.

WHAT THE HECK ??? All that drama, all that "noise"... For NOTHING.

Male Co-Worker said he's at the point where he's just going to have to tune her out. Unfortunately I can't do that because my desk is in the middle everything  and she stops by mdesk  all the time on her way to the rest of the office. And I'm BUSY.  Did I mention that???

Progress as of today: 48 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 03/25/2020:
AWWWW...(((HUGS)))I feel bad for you.....can you put a set of earphones on? Maybe she would get the message.

Donkey on 03/26/2020:
It may come down to this. I just kept to myself and she got the hint. Didn't stop her from walking across my area to talk to Mistakes Girl all day long.

Donkey on 03/26/2020:

innerpeace on 03/25/2020:
Though crazy and distracting to you...I can almost guarantee she will be depressed working from home.

Donkey on 03/26/2020:
I'm more angry at myself for falling for another one of her self-made dramas. I just have to step back.

I need yoga.

legcramps on 03/25/2020:
Oh my God she made it literally ONE DAY before deciding to come back to work LOL. That's too much.

Donkey on 03/26/2020:
Yep. I am trying to keep this in perspective and hope that when I'm old and lonely, others endure me as well.

Horn_of_plenty on 03/25/2020:
I do agree with the others, very very strange reactions / actions on the part of Nice Lady. she must be VERY anxious a type of person to cause such commotion in the office. yes, it would have bothered me also!

i hope that you do get to do some yoga soon and take advantage of sunny days for walking outside!!!!!!

Donkey on 03/26/2020:
I think she's lonely. I'm sure she is. It's just too bad that she puts so much of her energy into drama rather than something else.

I feel conned.

Maria7 on 03/25/2020:
Hoping you are having a better day today.

Donkey on 03/26/2020:
Thank you, Maria. I feel that I need to refocus. That whole office drama was a huge distraction. I'm going to do my best to not let that happen again.

I have run out of time to write a full entry this morning,  but wanted to say that yesterday,  I was crazy busy at work.  What is WRONG with people?  Phones were ringing off the hook yesterday until around 3p.

Got 4 new contracts yesterday.  What??? People, now is not the time to be moving!

Thinking about leaving work early today but might just wait until tomorrow when we'll have a warm day before the rain comes in for a dreary Thursday and Friday.

Progress as of today: 48 lbs lost so far, only 11.5 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 03/24/2020:
I definately would not want to be moving right now......apparently boredom meant they went online searching for entertainment and found REALTORS.COM? Hope your day goes better...but one thing...a busy day goes by faster......hope it goes by really fast for you!

Donkey on 03/25/2020:
It was another insane day... I wouldn't want to be moving now either.

bearcountrygg on 03/24/2020:
Could people be remortgaging? Do you handle those?

Donkey on 03/25/2020:
We don't get involved with refinancing. Mortgage rates are up around 5%, now, so it isn't the big bargain it was a few months ago when we refinanced at 3.62%.

Horn_of_plenty on 03/24/2020:
thanks for checking in with us, J Donk! :-D

Is it because people are panicking and just want to sell homes and downgrade!? that is weird. i guess they are home, have more time, are starting to actually make the calls!? that's soooo weird yes! wow 4 new contracts? i guess they figure this is all passing over so quickly they will be able to show their homes in the later spring!?!?

Did you end up leaving early? i hope you can manage some walks in :)

Donkey on 03/25/2020:
I'm just surprised that more buyers aren't worried about losing their jobs to make their mortgage payments. If I were a buyer, that would be my main concern right now.

No, I was unable to leave early. Not happy about that.

So I get a text from Associate Attorney that says that one of his clients (the wife) signed closing documents and overnighted them to our office, and now she's showing symptoms of COVID-19, to be tested on Monday (tomorrow).  When those documents come in, you can believe I ain't touchin' them one bit.  This affects me because these sellers are also buying on the same day.  Our system here in Chicagoland isn't set up to close remotely, so.... I'm not sure what will happen.  I was thinking I'd have to prepare "power of attorney" documents - what a pain in the a$$ for me - but the reality is more like the closings would be post-poned altogether.  I can't rid of these particular people fast enough.  Oh, and the husband works for a nearby village, so all of his co-workers are now at risk.

That wife was trouble on BOTH transactions from the very beginning.

But it will be interesting to see what work is like on Monday. I am planning to leave early - 3pm? - maybe tomorrow, but Tuesday and Wednesday for sure - unless I'm insanely busy - so that I can spend a little time with my daughter, who will be off of work.  She is so stressed out from her retail work.

Oh I almost forgot to mention:  I had an AWESOME weight training workout yesterday!  (lol)  Actually, I broke it up into 2 sessions and worked triceps in the afternoon and biceps at night.  I think today I'll do a little legwork.  I'm also practicing standing on one leg in several different positions, to work on my balance.

The Fancy Gym is putting their yoga workouts online.  I REALLY want to try this.  I'd have to use my laptop, which is not ideal because the angle of the screen changes depending on how I'm standing so the screen is not always a clear picture.  (This is why I do not take the online classes from the Yoga Studio.)  These FG online classes are free, and it would be my chance to see what level their classes are like without having to risk another "Donkey Yoga Disaster - LIVE!" episode again.  So maybe I'll try that this afternoon.

I will respond to your response from yesterday here...LOL....As far as making it through the Walking dead series.......Do a couple of old people ( 70's) really want to out live the young strong ones....LOL...NOT REALLY!!! Somehow in my mind I am apparently feeding an army! One of my boys has already talked about them and us at some time months from now meeting in a parking lot somewhere between us and trading some things...LOL....he asked how much spam we had...LOL...and I suddenly wanted to gather the spam and hide it!!! Don't get me wrong...I will gladly share.....and yet....somewhere deep down inside me.....I also did not want to actually give him a number ( if I even knew myself)...LOL.... I guess my idea of sharing was a little different...something like....."They will take what we give them"......but now...they covet our canned SPAM!

bearcountrygg on 03/22/2020:
OMG........I don't blame you a bit about not wanting to touch those documents...I wouldn't either......I swear....i worked in a drs office...people threw up in our waste baskets, they were all practically covered with germs when they came in.....a coworker accidentally dropped a very expensive chocolate bar on the floor once...and stood there and stared at it....saying...should I?.....But then decided not to because she remembered someone standing there throwing up just a few days before....but those were regular germs...things that could be treated.....this is something altogether different......I so wish for you...that your boss would just put everything on hold...or handle it himself and be a man about it...since he makes the decisions there. Dr Oz said today/or yesterday...that we shouldn't even bring amazon boxes in the house now...I don't even want to think about the mail.

Horn_of_plenty on 03/22/2020:
wow is retail still open by you and your daughter working? everything nonessential is closed in NYC / NY. i am not essential and laid off but not really upset about it as many people are in my boat. makes me feel like it's the "new normal" rather than a time to panic. if you can leave early on those days, it would be good to do so as you always have to keep your immunity up.

that's really good you are working on your balance. my balance is actually not the great and it's something i could do...though some of my squats exercises are one legged so that's enough for me, for now.

there are cords that hook up laptops and phones to the tv. i always forget what they are called, let me call r to ask him...also, i wrote some comments in your two entries below :)

Horn_of_plenty on 03/22/2020:
He told me some some laptops use DVI cables but ricky said open up Microsoft Internet Explorer if you have a windows computer ( not apple computer)...then he said this....!.......:

Go to help bar and type in “cast” or cast to tv. The help file might help you ....

It can be done with a DVI cord if you have it but also now people can connect remotely!

Sunny but cold this morning - I'd rather have warm and cloudy.  Snow forecasted for tomorrow afternoon.  Doesn't do much to lift the spirits here, but now that I know where I stand, I'm feeling better, more centered.

Ironically, it feels sort of comforting to be considered "essential".  Now that Illinois is on official "shelter down" status starting at 5pm today, it will be interesting to see if I get any new contracts next week.  Will people rush out today to buy a home?  My boss and Male Co-Worker say that they don't think anyone is thinking about buying right now.  I had 4 contracts, maybe 5, that canceled this past week, suddenly, because of the "non-essential" business shut-down in the restaurant and hospitality industries.

With this in mind, I tried to see if I could sign up for the online yoga classes at the Yoga Studio - nope.  I can only do that through my phone or laptop - neither which have good screens for a 2-way conference, since the screens are so small.

Had a food-fit last night and ate 2 bowls of ice cream and some gummies.  This morning, my GI system had a reset, so now I feel much better.

Doing lots of laundry today.  I plan to have an AMAZING weight training session this afternoon.  I still have one yoga book that I want to read.  There's always knitting to do as well, but now my hands get achy so I can only do that for about 15 minutes or so before I have to quit.

bearcountrygg on 03/21/2020:
The real estate company in our little town closed it's doors last night....if you want to see anything...you have to call his house. With banks closed inside ( appointment only)I doubt that they are doing any refinancing. If you get to the point where there is nothing to do...will you still have to stay?

Donkey on 03/22/2020:
If we get to the point where there is nothing to do, I can go home early, and either use my vacation time or just not get paid I guess.

The bright side is that, because I didn't really take a REAL vacation last year, I had like 32 hours of vacation time carry over into this year. So I have it if I need it, although my boss said that i have to be responsible in how I use it. I can't take 6 weeks off all at one fell swoop. I guess even if I get sick, I can't take 6 weeks off.

Donkey on 03/22/2020:
^^ See what I mean? He's totally unprepared for this. Hasn't really thought anything through. He's not a worrier, so he doesn't really plan for the worst.

sometimes you can hook a phone or laptop up to a tv screen if you have the correct cable. i always forget...is it hdmi?then you have a nice big screen to look at..

i'm surprised your boss doesn't worry with his wife so sick!

i just read gummies, which ones? i am out of them unless i get a delivery from amazon of which i've ordered some again..helps keep me sane at home.

have a good weights session today! (i did mine last night at it was STRONG!)...it was long due to distractions but it was also STRONG!

I'm not sure what happened,  but we at work are going on lockdown today.  No walk-ins.  Only the boss is willing to meet with clients,  downstairs in the conference room.  Nobody but UPS comes upstairs from the outside.   Male Co-Worker made a nice sign and the boss said,  if locking the doors is what you want,  we'll do it.

Nice Lady is making arrangements to work from home,  at least part time.  This week,  she started doing a certain pedicure through email and phone,  instead of in person at the office.  She's like,  why haven't I been doing this sooner?  It's much easier and doesn't stress me out.   So that will most likely remain changed.

Associate Attorney is taking most meetings over the phone,  but the Boss just won't - or can't - make that adjustment.  We could all work from home - after all,  Queen Bee does every day,  right?  He could do more but won't.

And work might not be so bad if we're didn't have a physical therapy clinic on the first level that had sick people!!!  The owner of the clinic is the Boss's daughter.  She says she cannot make payroll if she closes the clinic. So she calls off sick and has her workers come in to bear the brunt of all of this.

I've really lost most respect for my Boss and his daughter.  I never respected her husband who tries to run both businesses like a dictator.

I just don't want to be around people...I don't want it. He would probably be in the middle of all those at the beach in Florida too...WTH!!

OK maybe it is over reaction, but I just want to be safe and healthy and can only hope others do as well, but I guess I'm wrong.

EVENING UPDATE:  So we workers had a plan to limit our exposure to the virus from outsiders,  but the boss  nixed all of it.  He has no plan,  and thinks we're all overreacting.

So if I get sick,  I get sick.  And if my husband gets sick,  with his autoimmune disease,  then he gets sick, and good luck.

Yesterday,  I was beyond livid.   Tonight,  I'm beyond where I was last night.  If I get sick,  I will be at work until I get sent home or get carted out in an ambulance.

(Deleted text)

My boss has no idea what to do about the virus.  Yesterday we had 2 disgusting people come in as walk ins. The physical therapy office downstairs has sick staff and sick clients.

The inaction by my boss is infuriating.   The real reason we gave to go to work is because he doesn't want to stay home with his difficult wife and doesn't want to be alone in the office without anyone to talk to.

With no gym and no yoga,  I worked out at home and am staying to catch up on new tv shows,  rather than being stuck in reruns.  Yesterday was chest and triceps.  Today will be back and biceps.

I didn't work on balance (standing in one leg in various yoga positions) but this something I want to start doing regularly.  Also,  no abs work, which I can also do on  my yoga mat.  So, something  to work towards.

For fun, I tried to write up a schedule for myself,  like I've seen being done for parents teaching kids at home (since all the schools are closed now).  It was easier to schedule my morning time than my afternoon.  I got stuck  because I was looking at this as a not- working situation,  not working from home,  nor social distancing.  So I kept thinking,  where am I going to schedule my gym time?  Ha ha ha.   I want to go back to my "fantasy schedule" and focus on now.  How would I structure my time for where we're at now....

This angers me...WTH is wrong with your boss! I am literally told NOT to come in the office. If we don't need to be there, don't come in. Please wipe down high touch areas frequently and let him see you do it, especially after he touches something. One can NEVER be too careful.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/19/2020:
half of us, like i was saying, have the layoff now. we were told we can be paid tomorrow and not have to come in. everyone else may get laid off at the end of next week. a couple (literally 2) will work from home. yes, there should be a PLAN in YOUR office. we have a lot of overhead / oversight in the MAIN office, not my small one, and that's why we have a better plan. many others are still working for my company in other offices. but my particular office only has like 15 people total as of now bc jobs were ending in a year or so anyways. but the company has 150 or more office personal and 1,000+ currently in the field (electricians). at a high point, we had over 3,000 electricians working in the field.

i may start to add balance moves into my legs workout...but i have to research it. for now you are stimulating me to think about it.

On the bright side to all of this self-isolation, since I have no obligations after work,  I'm hoping I can get myself to do weights tonight!  Wouldn't that be nice?

I have a couple of TV shows I want to catch up on,  via streaming online,  but instead,  I find myself sinking into reruns of "All in the Family" and "Roseanne" - so I'm gonna get tough with myself and watch something NEW tonight while I work out.

Yesterday,  Mistakes Girl asked me if I thought the boss would let any of us go,  if business slows down too much.   I answered for myself,  that if I'm let go,  I'll just go.  (I'm so ready for a change.)  But then I realized that she was really asking for herself.  Awwww...  So I reassured her,  with several reasons in why it wouldn't be her that would be laid off.

This virus issue is showing me that my heart lies elsewhere.   I may still have to go to work,  but I'm going to use the remainder of my time,  on a daily basis,  to do better for myself.

You have a good head on your shoulders, J donk!

I am at work too today. Many of us are still here. Obviously we want to be paid...and i think we are the fortunate ones at this time as many people have already been just laid off - not my business - but in hospitality and food service...many just lay their workers off.

Absolutely....now is the time to isolate but use that time to do things that make us happy.....

So the Fancy Gym finally closed down today.  I'm kind of relieved that they finally made that decision.

When I drink cold drinks,  I tend to cough.  I also sneeze.  So I'm sure people wished I had stayed home today.

Some law firms are working from home but my boss says that would be a bad idea for us,  and that we're "essential" workers - that a state -wide or national shutdown wouldn't apply to us because we're essential.

We may be essential - which we aren't  - but don't think for one damn minute that we're not expendable.

Cold things make me cough too....My father in law was the same way. True......they would replace anyone in a minute!

^^Right???? I learned later that everyone was laughing as they overheard this conversation.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/17/2020:
well to make you feel better, sneezing is not (i believe) on the main symptom list!

we are also at work...would be difficult for us to work from home (some could, but some cannot due to the materials / computer software all being at work).
