Horn_Of_Plenty - Sunday Jan 06, 2019
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

Happy Sunday!  Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend.

9am Oatmeal 150, almond milk  50, craisins 50, stevia, cinnamon..icelandic yogurt 130...hair of kombucha 20..

11am I never ate the wrap i brought, so, i will eat it for breakfast tomorrow. shouldn't have really spoiled as it wasn't hot today. lol. instead i had pb cheese crackers. 200 and a seltzer.

3pm we ate, had a big meal that made me sleepy for the commute back home from NYC but it was healthy. rice 300, fried tofu 300 and veggies big portion 300. 900 around, tops.

5pm 12oz coffee (the new Nitro) from starbucks. this drink is awesome once it comes to a starbucks by you. it's literally whipped coffee...but no calories. they mix nitrogen into the coffee, for real! it's AWESOME especially when sweetened with stevia. doesn't really even need milk, but i took some. 50

5:30pm back at home rushed to put laundry in around 5:15pm so i don't have to do TONS when i get home. most of my stuff was packed already before this week started, so it's just clothes and towels that aren't coming with me, but good to wash ahead of the trip, duh. i'm glad i wasn't home all day thinking of the trip. :) had a clementine 50.

200 in cauliflower nacho flavor crackers (very good), and then a turkey burger 150 in a light wrap 70 with ketchup and mustard, some fresh mini peppers on the side 30. total here: 450.  this was a nice, satisfying meal. i'm glad to get good protein in.

2050, i'm going to be happy and leave it right this way, 2050!

2day avg: 2150.

 _____________________________________________________________

My commenting and journaling may be a bit off or different this month, right now, as i'm preoccupied with the trip, finishing work out these two days, exercise tomorrow night....just going through all the motions right now until Wednesday :)  things seem to be turning out very well..

__________________________________________________________

seeing the Big Apple Circus today at noon at a circus tent outside Lincoln Center in NYC! $19  tickets. with friend christine. made plans on purpose, keeping myself busy so i'm not getting anxious before the trip! the last hurrah again! a fun time as work is easy this week, just a two-day week and it's been good with a 3-day week last week. Making the most of everything!

Ok, I gotta take a quick shower and get outta this apt.  gotta also bring a small wrap for lunch as we're not gonna get food before the noon show which is good bc i got tooooo many leftovers and leaving Wednesday morning!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 01/06/2019:
Good to keep busy while you wait. I can't imagine what working will be like for you this short week -- Horn looks like she's working, but the thought-bubble above her head is already on the beach!

Smart idea to take your own lunch. Serves 2 purposes: healthy planning and cleaning out your fridge.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
some of my food will get wasted, sad about this. i don't think i can freeze raw veggies, can i? to cook when i get back? root veggies. i don't think so...

BearCountryGG on 01/06/2019:
Enjoy the circus!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
it was rather good. there were extra misses and mistakes but it shows how hard the acts are. for instance, there was a net for the flying trapeze final acts and one guy was supposed to fly into the other guys hands and swing together, but he wasn't caught.

and like a juggler never got the ball onto the box above his head...

...but the circus was all in good fun and the music was a live band which i love. and overall, it's amazing what people can do physically. i enjoyed being there and so did my friend.

Donkey on 01/06/2019:
Maybe consider freezing your leftovers if you don't finish before leaving. You won't feel like going grocery shopping when you get back into town.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
oh my gosh! great idea on my leftovers that don't get eaten. that's even a good idea to pick up something extra before i go to have at home when i get home...good advice. i may try to cook the veggies now...make a small veggie soup maybe in a little bit. to finish everything off and then freeze :)

great idea to freeze any leftovers!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
plus, it seems my dad wants to pick me up from airport at 2pm the day i get home (sorta close to his work)...and drive me to his house to get the hamster that day!!!! so weird! so, it will already be a longer day of commuting with the extra traveling time home to get the hamster...if that's what he wants to do. so weird! it's funny the only plan i have so far on the trip is my dad picking me up after it's over from the airport! i don't know why he was so eager to have the hamster back with me midweek!?

BearCountryGG on 01/06/2019:
You can par boil veggies and then freeze...anything that can go into soup can be boiled in broth or water and then frozen.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
so then i must cook veggies to freeze them, right?

i decided to slow cook a veggie soup with the leftover onion, carrots and parsnips. glad did not throw them away, after making special trips a couple weeks ago just to buy them! :) i'm going to have good eats when i return.

so, like you were saying, freeze veggies after they are cooked, right?

BearCountryGG on 01/06/2019:
Sure...you can freeze them after cooking........It would work well to package them in single servings to pull out and prepare for 1 meal at a time.....I don't think you could freeze raw veggies to well...cook them and then freeze....you will have some meals ready to go when you get back home.

horn_of_plenty on 01/06/2019:
Okay I will totally do this !!!!! Everything is cooked and I'm fridge and I'll move things to freezer tomorrow

OhioRaven on 01/07/2019:
Man, Horny. You are still a very busy girl. It all sounds great.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/07/2019:
thanks OR, i'm a happy girl right now!

Donkey on 01/05/2019:
Last weekend before Florida!!! What I love about your posts is that you show how much you can eat and still pretty much maintain.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
better than last year with the eating and still maintaining.

last year i was in a trailer and it was not good. it was a very cold winter, so it wasn't fun to go out walking at lunch - 5 degrees F is a bit cold! also, i couldn't even move anywhere around the trailer during the day so i was constantly sitting. so, no extra walking. i also never took a longer lunch break than 30min. i also wasn't use to the commute and didn't do long walks home yet from the subway, like i do now a couple times a week, around 3mi! lastly, i was burning great cals at the start of winter last year, but then got very sick throughout January with a cold / bronchitis, so i lost strength and lost out on many weightlifting sessions. ended up in losing weight but then gaining like 5lbs...which was my limit!

oh, also in the trailer, NOBODY had good eating habits. they ordered pizza all the time. junk food and candy galore. i was in the trailor from end of december until end of february! so glad to be outta that cramped, very congested workplace.

there was limited food to get around the trailer site. no stores to go visit like in NYC. i'm so glad not to be there!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
if i were to eat 2050 cals per day, i'd still be able to maintain 100% and even lose at a very slow pace.

i'm keeping the exercise this winter. so it's really helping with maintenance. plus the walks around a couple times a week. plus walking almsot everyday at lunch.

i'm more active than any past year. it's helping.

really, as long as we stay active and keep snacking to keep the body away from feeling like you are starving, you can eat quite a bit. veggies work for me at least a big amount in one of my meals to get me feeling full.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
also, the "wraps" i generally buy are lower carb / lower cals or both! and when i'm eating meals like the wraps with an egg...and adding some avocado it's all on purpose because it's very full of some fat/protein/carb to keep me feeling pretty good for low cals.

it may look like i eat whatever i want, but i'm watching portions and overall cals. it's all after YEARS of seeing what works and still learning better what i can do even better.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
one more tip, eggs are a big LOW CAL favorite of mine. just enough protein if i mix them into a wrap with also some fat so it's satisfying. eggs being less than 100 cal or even if i add an extra egg white, like 100 cals is so low for the protein part of a meal / wrap! :)

BearCountryGG on 01/05/2019:
Taste of dried plum..............

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
They were "blonde" golden plums with pits. a bit smaller than a typical prune - so very small since they also included a pit.

they were very light flavor. maybe not much sugar added to these.

i am not sure why my parents got them or where. maybe Fairway since that's a store that sells a huge variety.

i tried one just because i never had anything like it.

flavor was light not like a dried apricot which is a stronger flavor. and def not like a black prune or like a date. very light flavor.

BearCountryGG on 01/05/2019:
Did it taste like a prune?

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
NO, IT DIDN'T!

Maria7 on 01/05/2019:
My Daughter loves oatmeal..She likes the strawberry and the peaches instant packs.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
yeah, oatmeal is the bomb! it's fun. and when i also eat it along with a greek yogurt (mixing them both on my spoon), it's very filling :)

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
i also like those flavors, the ones your daughter likes. all oatmeal is like dessert! so good!

graindart on 01/05/2019:
Have been eating single-serve instant oatmeal packets for the past month or so. Warm, hardy, and relatively low in calories.

I had the same thought as Bear. It's been noted by gazillions of people over the years, but I don't know why they don't call them dried plums for marketing purposes. Prunes just have a negative sound to them.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
it wasn't a typical prune though...so, it makes sense not to call the type i tried for the first time a prune. it was light colored, lighter blonde than those slightly orange dried apricots. it was a golden dried "plum" or a golden prune haha....!

also, i love oatmeal on weekends. sometimes i skip the kombucha since oatmeal also causes bowel movements lol so don't need to "double up" on probiotics.

i don't like eating oatmeal at work bc it causes me to usually need to use the bathroom...and i don't need more of that during the morning at work! it's great on a relaxing, weekend morning.!!!

yep, love the oatmeal. you can bet i usually add a little stevia in.

Donkey on 01/05/2019:
Never EVER eat a whole box of prunes - oh, I mean dried plums - in one sitting. Take my word on this.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
OH, I can imagine very well the horrible consequences of that!!!!! i had done something similar, years ago, with an angel food cake, sugar free but with a "bad" sugar free sweetener. maybe malitol. i was in the bathroom on and off for HOURS! haha

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
we all gotta learn from our experiences huh?! LOL

BearCountryGG on 01/05/2019:
When my Dad was a kid.....he found the box of chocolatey exlax in their medicine cabinet and ate all of it........I heard that story several times...

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
hahahaha LOL LOL LOL omg! not good!!!

graindart on 01/05/2019:
I've been going for the apples & cinnamon instant oatmeal packets (130 cal). Then drizzling it with a little Walden Farms caramel sauce (supposedly 0 cal and tastes pretty good). Kind of reminds me of a nice warm caramel apple right after it was dipped in the caramel.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
oh nice! that sure sounds good. i'm about to order me some sugar free stevia pancake syrup...i'll order it when i come back from florida. lol...enough for now!! right!? your meal idea sounds good!!! caramel apple, yum!

graindart on 01/05/2019:
I've been using Walden Farms pancake syrup on my oatmeal at times too. It's supposedly 0 cal, like pretty much all of their stuff. And it actually tastes good to me. They've got some nasty products, but the caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and pancake syrup are all pretty decent.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2019:
ty for the reviews..i'll keep this in mind. i wonder why some of their stuff is good and some is so bad...i've tried their "bad stuff"

I picked up Indian food takeout yesterday and it's still in the work fridge as i forgot it yesterday. Must remember to bring that home for the weekend and dinner tonight :)  I have planned to eat the indian on top of "noodles" which are really hearts of palm (a veggie).  they seem to be very perfect and better than the shirataki. 40 cal per package but a better consistency.

I am looking forward to gettng out of here ASAP at the end of the day. ...bringing hamster to my parent's house tonight as they will be watching it & feeding it while i'm gone :) then i'll sleep over there, come back in morning to queens for a hair coloring /- highlights (decided to do it again!).  tonight i'll eat dinner at my own place, heading out to my parent's house after rush hour and just to visit and sleep over, but not eating dinner with them as it'll be late anyways i think.

i didn't sleep much last night (went to bed late after finishing a workout late) and i am having a little bit of a "tired" day and cannot wait to just relax tonight and lay down in bed to conk out.

We were thinking drinks at lunch, but i'm so NOT down for that...and it seems it isn't possible as my supervisor is in meetings and needs to be very "on the ball" today. GOOD.

"The party is over..." back to work & no more play and galavanting at lunchtime like that :)

but still nice walking around city always at lunch!

just less partying and more bringing lunch from home. no more drinks thankfully!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 01/04/2019:
You mentioned veggie soup...that is something I am thinking about making soon. Hope you have a good day.

horn_of_plenty on 01/04/2019:
veggie soup is good, but lately i add too many spices in and combined with slow cooking...it's hard to stomach! lol...better next time! it's so delightful and healthy to have soup in the Wintertime!

graindart on 01/04/2019:
I've got another couple packages of the shiritaki "rice" (noodle material shaped kind of like rice). Not enjoying it at all. Think my shiritaki experiments will be over after these packages are gone. It doesn't have any ill effect on me, but just doesn't taste / feel quite right.

horn_of_plenty on 01/04/2019:
yes, i know the rice...i'm now trying something different that someone told me about on amazon. It's hearts of palm but shaped totally like hard noodles. Called Palmini! maybe it's worth you trying. ...

i know the shiritaki rice. i agree with you about the shiritaki. if i worked from home, i might still be eating it, i wish it wasn't so harsh on my stomach (shiritaki)

there's also the hard kelp noodles....they are very interesting....

legcramps on 01/04/2019:
I enjoy my break at lunch, as brief as it is, to get out and do a little walking too. I drive home everyday for lunch, and just getting away from the workplace is so nice some days! In the summer, my coworker and I walk around the building at our coffee breaks too. It's usually the only time I take a coffee break, otherwise I just work through it.

horn_of_plenty on 01/04/2019:
I'm so thankful to be in the city and be able to walk around year round outside. It's great change from sitting at the desk and helps burn a few extra cals during the workday. it's GREAT yes!!!

your way is good, too! nice to go home...my home is WAY TOO FAR!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Thursday Jan 03, 2019
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

i stepped on the scale and i'm magically 5lbs heavier!? ouch. maybe bc it's 9pm and not 6am! ....fri morning i stepped on again and it's back down, just hovering under 115. so i'm good ;) my clothes have been fitting well and only thing bothering me is my sudden decrease in strength due to skipping 2-3 sessionsin December. Back on track now though, even during vacation i'll figure it out!

______________________________________________________________

So on fb, some friends form elementary school starting a conversation to have a reunion in summer. And i'm thinking to myself almost an automatic NO. The reason is because some of them defriended me and i defriended some of them on fb. why go!? :) i don't think i'll be attending.  It's not scheduled yet, they are just thinking to do it in summertime. But at this right, with limited free time in life and all, i don't see myself attending. Maybe if i could bring someone, but, why hang out with people i'm not even friends with on fb? yeah, not going :)

there are some smaller personalities (not the grand ones that i don't care to see) that might go...so if enough "nice" people go, i may reconsider...if there are nice people there, well, it might be worth giving them a hug :)

__________________________________________________________

Really starting to feel Florida's approaching...i'm a bit all over the place...and working alone these two days in this quiet room is a little much ...! for real!  because my thoughts keep drifting to Florida!  And it's getting me a bit....jittery!

Hi all!  Happy Thursday! I'm happy to see so many DDers posting. It makes the site more social and fun! :)

Kombucha 50

8;30 Light breakfast: chocolates and coffee 150

9:30 LINDOR chocoloate with coconut milk in it. amazing. enjoying :) 100

10:30am Snack: wrap 120, egg 80, half avocado 150: 350.,

12pm Noon Almonds 50

1pm Lunch: from home, leftovers, all healthy: chicken sausage 100, rest of my mashed cauliflower 100, tomatoes 50, and chips 150. total here: 400.

3pm Snacks: clementine and teas so far... 50 and few more almonds, minimal cals.

Then, HAPPY FRIDAY!

2000 today. lately i feel thin, not sure what's up with the scale.

6 day avg: 2108, excellent!

 ___________________________________________________

WELL! I HAD A MOST INTERESTING MORNING COMMUTE. Basically, it was sorta a date you can say.  it was an uplanned commute in halfway with someone i know. we rode the subway together and then walked the whole way together to my workplace as he had a few more blocks to go but my work was totally on the way to his. lol. crazy. it's the single guy i have been texting with lately. i don't reach out though, not chasing. but, it's fun. he is pretty easy to talk to...he's fun for now. I think i'll be "hanging out' with him when i come back from my trip in February....yea probably.  He's prob around 50, but myself being 36, it's not even 15 years...i prefer men slightly older.

______________________________________________________

So i'm glad i cleaned the hamster cage. it was TOTALLY overdue! and where it mostly pees, my hammy was biting away at the cage and it's still safe and hammy can't escape, but she did totally bite a dent with her teeth quite deep into the plastic.  Maybe the urine helps soften the plastic making it easier to bite thru...i would have prevented this, maybe, by cleaning the cage more often. It'd probably been one month since last FULL cleaning. no worries. now it's clean :)

A lot went on last night involving phone calls with two people, both longer calls.  made for a busier night and bed not as early as i wanted, but still at a good time around 10pm.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

graindart on 01/03/2019:
My oldest daughter's birthday is coming up in February. Now I'm thinking about surprising her with a hamster. I've got a month to think about it, so who knows......

horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
they are very easy to care for as you know. at first, hamsters are timid and fearful. but after a week you can totally be picking them up and putting them in their exercise balls for 30min-hour per day. then after a month it's like they were with you all along :) that's cute as a gift.

Maria7 on 01/03/2019:
Yes, I agree that the more the merrier. Wishing you a happy day, HOP.

horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
the more the merrier in regards to cleaning the hamster cage?

horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
...you have a wonderful day of 2019, Maria :)

legcramps on 01/03/2019:
Sounds like a fun commute :) ;)

10 p.m., nice. I tried to go to bed around 9:30, but I was up thinking (exactly what I said I wanted to do less of this year) for a good two hours before I finally fell asleep.

horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
yes, it was pretty fun. i had no problem sleeping but also woke up a couple times to use the bathroom and possibly because my brain was still running all night after tons of talking on the phone close to bed ;)

why were you thinking that long? work stuff?

Donkey on 01/03/2019:
Wow, looks like you've got some adventures coming up! Good for you for getting in a workout tonight!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
thank you donkey, and your day sounded very adventurous and pleasant as well!

legcramps on 01/04/2019:
I think about all kinds of things really, LOL. That night I was thinking about things with BF. He's been spending this week with his daughter before taking her home (she lives 10 hours away), and I always find it difficult to cope with my emotions about spending even less time with him than usual. I've never been with anyone who has kids, so it's New Territory for me, and I have trouble navigating sometimes :)

HEY ALL! HAPPY WEDNESDAY, SHORT WORK WEEK!

Kombucha 50

Bar from a friend protein bar with choc chips made with steiva, pretty good, 200, coffee 50, and a homemade "creampuff" was so good! 150-200 (was small)

Snack: wrap 120, egg 70, 1/2 avocado 150. 350. (glad to not waste the two very ripe avocados i've had in the fridge and eating 1/2 at a time due to their ripeness and moreso to get the healthy fats in as my face is a little irritated and blotchy..and avocado tends to help).

Noon dark chocolate raisinets 50.

...hungry day but healthy eats pretty much :) moderation :)

Healthy lunch: frozen bird's eye mashed cauliflower (multiple servings) 100, leftover from freezer corned beef 200 !! yum! maybe some chips (have a new big bag here to enjoy at work these couple weeks).

Snacks: i have 4 clementines 100 and almonds 100 :) and prob a chocolate later, too. 50. 250 total in healthy snacks.

Dinner: I have a lot of leftovers. thinking a wrap with the remaining Indian palak creamed spinach.  and 100 cal butter popcorn (and it's good - so no more orville redenbachers brand that is 200 cal!) . 550 cal or so.

2050 cal today!!!!

5 day:

________________________________________

grrrr so my workout was very weak as i think i skipped a day of workouts for two weeks i skipped a workout each week. my pushups were so bad...who knows why. not worried, but it was frustrating!  i was poor at all exercises EXCEPT legs & abs. legs and abs were great!  it's ok, i know what to do...KEEP ON. :)

but i have already lost minor strength due to skipping a few workouts in December. not sure how many, probably 2 or 3 and yes, that's def enough to screw up maintaining strength when you have desk job and the only exercise you do is added into your days manually by yourself!....lol.

but i'll be fine. def cannot add more stress or thoughts now. i have florida on my mind. but work is busy enough and i'm distracted enough to just do the work and stop thinking about even planning miami right now. my mind is done. looking forward to hamster cage cleaning and sleep.

_________________________________________

Plan is to take it easy on even the walking today....i MUST clean the hamster cage tonight. as the hamster has decided to play near her hardened pee area and smells like urine. weird!  hamsters are usually clean but since yesterday she has a lingering urine smell on her = bad Jackie for not cleaning the cage....?  overall it's clean and i spot clean and it doesn't smell or anything...but it's time. that's really more important tonight than an entire 3mi walk. i may just walk 1 mi in the evening part of the bus route - that'll be ENOUGH!

Wish we had a "rent-a-pet" store around here. I don't want the responsibility of another pet, but the girls would enjoy getting to play with a new one for 1-7 days in a row.

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
Hamsters are almost no work though... :) all other pets, no so much!!!! dogs...even cats....everything else is def more work than a lil' hammy! :)

BearCountryGG on 01/02/2019:
The little animals do get stinky...I know our occassionally did.....but they are fun to have around.

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
so fun...but lately she's annoying me as she bit me on the weekend! and almost last night. she's not behaving lately lol.

BearCountryGG on 01/02/2019:
Our guinnea pig used to bite....they are like people...some are just nicer than others..LOL

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
darn animal attitudes! :)

legcramps on 01/02/2019:
I wouldn't stress too much over your workouts. It's nice to have a plan and a routine with goals in mind, but being too strict about it can be detrimental to your overall emotional health! Go after your goals, with reason and intention! This is definitely gonna be your year :)

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
you are absolutely right in pushing me to just try to get thru without the added extra emotional stress ;) i'm really good at adding that into the mix :)

i will just keep trying my best then...going forward and never regret past decisions...that's a good goal to try to not regret not doing things. a decision is a decision and you can't fix it when it's done ;)

happy-1 on 01/02/2019:
Hugs. Clean the cage. Embrace the suck.

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
i gotta....lately i can easily wait a good month till i really water/vinegar it fully clean :) tonight is that night! and then not cleaning it again until around the weekend of the 26th! with a little spot cleaning this weekend :) woohoo! i like how you said it ;) embrace the suck!

Donkey on 01/02/2019:
Nothing new to add, but I will message you on FB.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/03/2019:
I will be checking the messages at home tonight...as i deleted the app from my phone...looking forward. Have a nice day, J. I can't wait for the next part of this month to start soon.

Due to the stress and lack of stress and ups and downs of the weekend, my stomach has churning and i have been using the bathroom extremely frequently all weekend. things are just running right thru me. so before i go for a week, i'd like to sit a bit on my couch and relax and enjoy the heavier, filling breakfast i wrote about above.

NYE was really nice. With friends since senior year of college.

The weather last night for driving to the New Year's party was HORRIBLE. Rain was pouring and hard to see road. Roads were slippery. I hated the drive but managed it. I didn't go on the highway over 45mph.  It was not possible with my crappy low to the ground car tires and old car. Mostly I had to go 42 or so mph. not even 45. Two a**holes had the nerve to shine their brights at me! Can they night see i'm going slow in the middle lane because i have a low to the ground car with cruddy tires and i don't want to be Hydroplaning? I think the brites came both times from bigger vehicles that navigate VERY slippery dark roads well. People all over were driving horrible, speeding, in a pretty terrbile rain storm. After the drive, knowing it would still be raining at midnight, I told her I'd be really happy to sleep over! Best decision ever. The drive home this morning was cake. Roads were clear and the 30 min drive flew by.  I stopped at the supermarket and to drop off a library book in their outdoor return slot.  I may go for a walk, the temperature is gradually dipping, but when i drove home at 10am, it was 60! Happy New Year indeed! It's a sunny, beautiful day after the storm. Back down to 45 later in afternoon.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

graindart on 01/01/2019:

__________________________________________________________

stomach is sorta upset and my body is a bit still whacky not sure why. could be the types of food i was eating yesterday also, as it was all sorta atypical for me...the whole day...no issue about it though it was fun. i was in and out of the bathroom all evening, night and this AM. weird.

just resting today and starting laundry soon....

well the laundry machine was occupied so i kept my stuff down, ready to go there at 11am again to start laundry, but accidentally fell asleep on the couch till noon...fine by me :)

_____________________________________________________

OKAY, i have a leftover bottle of xanax from two years ago sitting in my apt. i took one, dose was .25mg alprazolam. not embarassed to say it.  i had used only 2 pills previously, in 2016, so now i've taken a third. good.

so, the dose i took today is like 1/8 xanax. should be fine.

______________________________________________________

Today i'm getting a little organized. No exercise at all today...i luckily got it in last evening because i wasn't about to skip out on it as it's a priority to myself so that's good i walked last night around one hour :) dressed warm and used hand warmers that i inserted into my gloves.

Today is Baking and Laundry. that's it. then going to my friend's house tonight at 8pm and quite possibly i will sleep over there and drive home in DAYLIGHT in the morning. this is quite possible. i'm not so into doing the drive at night. so it depends how i feel at midnight.

Trying to do less right now as i'm starting to stress about the drive tonight as well as packing, etc. :) i'm good. i just realize i need to get a move on...especially with my laundry including of course bed sheets and the whole mix.

__________________________________________________________

next, tomorrow i only have ONE task besides a workout to do. and it's to do MOST of my packing for Florida. I leave 1/9 but i'm leaving fully in the morning on that Wednesday and hells i'm not going to pack the Tuesday night after work before that morning for a 2-week trip. i'm not bringing much, only carry-ons because i can do laundry there. :) also, next weekend is BUSY. like, pretty busy. so, i just want the packing mostly done before this week to come. so tomorrow, i'll work out at my apt in the later afternoon, after i've packed for Florida :) (mostly packed...i'm sure i'll wash some jeans or something next weekend to add into what i'll wear on the plane. but in terms of shampoos and all...it's gotta be packed tomorrow :)  otherwise, after a very busy sunday next weekend back in NYC...i'm going to be stressing hard about packing...so, yeah, i'll accomplish it tomorrow night most of it :)

____________________________________________________________

Woke up around 3am and just relaxing and searching the web for awhile, till at least 5am. No worries and it's probably a good thing since tonight is New year's and i'm going to spend it out on Long Island at a friend's house before driving back home. It's like a half hour without traffic...not thrilled to do the drive but it's better than sleeping there i think. but as i keep writing this, i'm starting to think to sleep over her house and to then just sneak out in morning. I'm not eager to drive home at midnight, really. we'll see how i feel later. i may just bring a blanket and pillow and sleep at her house as she offered to everyone. just, i don't know if everyone will want to sleep or shup up come midnight, but i can always go to the bathroom, wash my face, and "leave the party" to go to bed if i want to...she'll understand i'm sure! it'd be better to sleep at her house i think, then drive home in the dark and while i'm sleepy. again, i'll see how i feel later but i'm thinking to just sleep at her house (and leave before eating breakfast (crap) at her house the next day. she loves desserts lol.

i just realized, no worries, i can also just work out back at my apt. duh. i may as well sleep over her house into Tuesday :)

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 12/31/2018:
No Times Square????

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2018:
haha, never been and never will! you have to go REALLY early...and wait outside in the freezing cold and no bathrooms...no thanks :)

it's a joke that mostly people out of town go there ...

but i do have friends that have went ;)

not me!

graindart on 12/31/2018:
Woke up at 3:30am here myself and decided to get a jump on catching up on my workload after getting back from vacation.

Personally I tend to stay off the roads on New Years Eve. Don't want to deal with higher chance of drunk drivers or additional police presence.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2018:
yeah...i may just sleep over her house...as long as i can just walk away and crash and pray people don't wanna KEEP PARTYING until 2am...also she may need to clean...then i'd have to help her clean for an hour...may just need to drive home. grrr.

graindart on 12/31/2018:
Funny how upcoming things seem so distant and then something just changes and it seems so close. That perception just changed for me concerning your Florida trip. You've been talking about it for awhile and in my mind it's been quite-aways off. Now that tomorrow is January, your trip suddenly seems super close in time.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2018:
YES, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED!

Maria7 on 12/31/2018:
Wishing you a happy new year.

Donkey on 01/01/2019:
Did you end up sleeping over? Happy New Year!

My boss leaves for Florida on Thursday morning, so Wednesday will be his last day at the office (yay!), and it won't be a full day, either. Your adventure starts about a week afterwards. Warm weather right now sounds so nice!

Have fun today! The walk sounds good to me, but it's a little too cold for me here. Maybe I'll try to get out, in the spirit of walking with you.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
when i walked alone in the evening, i stuck some hand warmers in my gloves and the walk became much easier :)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
they help out a lot, to get you going :) when you aren't frozen to the bone!

BearCountryGG on 12/30/2018:
Too icy here to walk today...but it sounds enticing!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
sorry about the ice!!!!!!!! sooo different by you!

graindart on 12/30/2018:
Glad the weather is decent for someone. Just got home to heavy snow. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be around 17 degrees, with a low around zero. Have fun at the hibachi.....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
wow you are already home! what a FAST trip! my gosh! 17 degrees is rather freezing, yeah...

hibachi cancelled due to eating so much at a random bday party we went to today!

 _________________________________________________

not many plans today except my goal for a big gym day. I'm a bit wiped out and happy to relax a lot at home :-) maybe bake maybe laundry but I can wait to do these things later on the long weekend :-)

i took a sleeping pill last night so having some extra caffeine today to get some of the grogginess away. feeling good after a great sleep and relaxation. :) vacuumed and cleaned up a little. happy :) fridge is stocked with food. don't need the grocery store except if i want to buy almond milk because i'm running low. i just cooked chicken sausages, 90 cal each. everything is good. relaxing.

part of relaxing was to just clean up a little.  take a look at what's in my fridge and i'm so glad i stopped to get veggies at supermarket last night. one less thing to do over the next few days :) I"m actually good for the week ahead already!

I'm also finishing a book which i'll drop at the library. :) and i have another book, i'll try to return it and take it back out...so i have all the renewals. i'd like to take it with me to Florida to read on the beach, hopefully...or even in the apt backyard i'm staying at.

For Fort Lauderdale (miami) where i'm staying, i haven't put any plans in place. all actual plans will be made when i'm there with my friend. it's too much to plan any other way. I should have car to borrow of hers, so really i shouldn't have too many problems getting anyplace once i'm there. i'll be there a long time, so i'm really not worried about "fitting things in." whatever happens, happens!

also, in terms of the gym, i've realized that if i miss a day each week while in florida, i'm ok with it. really i'd just like to see at least 2 workouts per week while i'm there so as now to come back to NY much weaker.  it's more important to get the experiences in...but at least getting to the gym 2x each week should be doable, considering my friend WILL be working at least a few of the days i'm there...she'll also be taking some days off though.

obviously, her being my host, i'll be going along with her schedule, whatever it is! so yeah, the gym is a priority to do whlile in florida, but, my first priority is also to make plans whenever she wants to...as obviously my schedule is flexible!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/29/2018:
How nice that you get a long weekend - you earned it for sure! I am hoping to do a little baking this weekend too. We'll see...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
awww thanks...i'm really happy about the extra "me" and relaxing time. it's nice.

tomorrow i'll see my friend Jen again. the one from the "house key" incident. we're going to a light breakfast, a walk!!!!, and a "free lunch" as we have a gift certificate worth $25 (from over a year ago when we went together...) and the lunch will not be too much more than $25 tomorrow! :) it's hibachi japanese where they cook in front of you! but, i wanted to fit in exercise, so, i asked if she'd walk at a really cool park by her and she said yes :)

BearCountryGG on 12/29/2018:
Interesting ideas of things to add to hot cereal...I plan to use some cacao powder and some raisins and nuts in the near future....and powdwred peanut butter....they all sound so good.....love the protein powder idea too.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
i bought the craisins a huge package on sale! i really wanted the "50%" less sugar kind but they weren't on sale and the package was so small. the difference in calories was hardly anything, so i settled with the huge bag of regular Craisins. they are so good. I got them to add to a honey cake i'm making. it calls for sliced almonds, but i'll also add the craisins in. Someone at work challenged me to make it. So i'd like to make it this weekend :)...in a lower carb variety, but still with the craisins which wouldn't make it keto, but still tasty! :)

graindart on 12/29/2018:
Haven't been to a hibachi restaurant in a few years. Liked taking my daughters to them a few times when they were younger. The food was always good, but the "show" was the main reason for going back then.....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
yeah, and some taste good and some not so good...the one we were going to go to is very good with TONS of veggies...i miss it so!...hope to go sorta soon in the new year!

Horn_Of_Plenty - Friday Dec 28, 2018
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

Kombucha such a cool flavor - a very nice, tart cherry. must find this brand again! 50 (i had bought it near my parent's house...so maybe i will not find this brand again by me!)

8:30 Breakfast: whipped cream with extra pumpkin pie spice on top of my homemade pumpkin pie cheesecake!! this was too good but not filling enough. 400

10am coconut milk chocolate truffle (Lindor) and a few pistachios 100, herbal tea with caffeine, didn't realize it had caffeine...a hisbiscus flavor i had bought, not green tea.

11:30 Snack: salt and vinegar almonds 100

Lunch: veggie soup 130 and turkey burger 220 from home. skipped having my chips. 350, light and nice. later a clementine 50.

I want this day to be 2000 cal or less. should be easy now!

5pm healthy dinner: takeout from the city on my way home Indian Eggplant dish, good sized serving of it i took for dinner 300?, tofu at home 100, rice cakes 70. total here: approx 450. and an apple 100. 550.

6:30 dessert - cooked cranberries 60, raspberry greek yogurt 140, whipped cream 120. approx 300

total today is great: 1900

7day avg: 2115 - EXCELLENT

and we ended leaving work at 1:30pm so i went home, paid my rent and put $ on my laundry card at the housing office. and went for a small grocery shopping mostly veggies, some yogurt, and nuts. very basic shopping, just picked up the sliced almonds for a dessert i want to make :)

after running errands i'm really tired, so may just sleep very early tonight..tomorrow is a gym day and i think i may  do laundry tomorrow also or if not laundry, baking and cooking.

________________________________

we may get out at 2pm.....if so, going home to relax and sleep..

maybe baking another type of treat tonight, one that one of the engineer's at my company actually requested, a Keto Honey Cake, popular in Russia and Jewish culture which of both she is!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 12/28/2018:
Laundry for me tomorrow too...so nice that you got out of work early......The cake sounds delish!!! I have some rice cakes here too...and I never think of using them.......good idea....and a good base for peanut butter or almond butter....i can see me using those for my evening meal.....i'm trying to eat lighter because heavy meals are just starting to be a problem.......

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2018:
i like to put spreads (veggie spreads) on the rice cakes. it makes them less dry and it's instead of using regular rice, as rice cakes are puffed up and lower cals...peanut butter on them i like, but it doesn't fill me up, lol. so i go with spreads and use the rice cakes as, obviously, the carb.

BearCountryGG on 12/28/2018:
What kind of veggie spreads? I don't think I have ever seen those.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
when i do takeout from the indian places as well as an israeli place by me, the veggies are cooked in a lot of sauce. it's sometimes a bit thick and nice and spreadable like in a sandwich or on rice cakes or crackers :) they do sell spreads also...the brand is....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
the brand Sabra has a lot of choices, some healthier than others. the hummus spreads are healthy but high calories, their veggie spreads i would buy though. only reason i don't buy them is the option for even fresher options like the ones i can get at restaurants. i'm not up to making my own just yet. :)
