Weight: 114.0

Light breakfast of pumpkin pie cheesecake and cooked cranberry preserves on top 300, kombucha too 70, later a snickers fun size 80

snack: small coffee and not sure  - some spanish food at deli we both knew of near my former workplace in queens :) .400

candy 150

Chicken so good 300, noodles and rice 300?, salad, cake with flan 200? No hibachi changed plans instead going to Jens neighbor to eat and celebrate a 3yr olds bday

and a bar, not very satisfying end of day, but stuck with good calories. good. 250

2050, great!...tomorrow may be a little of an indulgence if i don't watch it.

Donkey on 12/30/2018:
Have fun today! The walk sounds good to me, but it's a little too cold for me here. Maybe I'll try to get out, in the spirit of walking with you.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
when i walked alone in the evening, i stuck some hand warmers in my gloves and the walk became much easier :)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
they help out a lot, to get you going :) when you aren't frozen to the bone!

BearCountryGG on 12/30/2018:
Too icy here to walk today...but it sounds enticing!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
sorry about the ice!!!!!!!! sooo different by you!

graindart on 12/30/2018:
Glad the weather is decent for someone. Just got home to heavy snow. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be around 17 degrees, with a low around zero. Have fun at the hibachi.....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
wow you are already home! what a FAST trip! my gosh! 17 degrees is rather freezing, yeah...

hibachi cancelled due to eating so much at a random bday party we went to today!

 _________________________________________________

not many plans today except my goal for a big gym day. I'm a bit wiped out and happy to relax a lot at home :-) maybe bake maybe laundry but I can wait to do these things later on the long weekend :-)

i took a sleeping pill last night so having some extra caffeine today to get some of the grogginess away. feeling good after a great sleep and relaxation. :) vacuumed and cleaned up a little. happy :) fridge is stocked with food. don't need the grocery store except if i want to buy almond milk because i'm running low. i just cooked chicken sausages, 90 cal each. everything is good. relaxing.

part of relaxing was to just clean up a little.  take a look at what's in my fridge and i'm so glad i stopped to get veggies at supermarket last night. one less thing to do over the next few days :) I"m actually good for the week ahead already!

I'm also finishing a book which i'll drop at the library. :) and i have another book, i'll try to return it and take it back out...so i have all the renewals. i'd like to take it with me to Florida to read on the beach, hopefully...or even in the apt backyard i'm staying at.

For Fort Lauderdale (miami) where i'm staying, i haven't put any plans in place. all actual plans will be made when i'm there with my friend. it's too much to plan any other way. I should have car to borrow of hers, so really i shouldn't have too many problems getting anyplace once i'm there. i'll be there a long time, so i'm really not worried about "fitting things in." whatever happens, happens!

also, in terms of the gym, i've realized that if i miss a day each week while in florida, i'm ok with it. really i'd just like to see at least 2 workouts per week while i'm there so as now to come back to NY much weaker.  it's more important to get the experiences in...but at least getting to the gym 2x each week should be doable, considering my friend WILL be working at least a few of the days i'm there...she'll also be taking some days off though.

obviously, her being my host, i'll be going along with her schedule, whatever it is! so yeah, the gym is a priority to do whlile in florida, but, my first priority is also to make plans whenever she wants to...as obviously my schedule is flexible!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/29/2018:
How nice that you get a long weekend - you earned it for sure! I am hoping to do a little baking this weekend too. We'll see...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
awww thanks...i'm really happy about the extra "me" and relaxing time. it's nice.

tomorrow i'll see my friend Jen again. the one from the "house key" incident. we're going to a light breakfast, a walk!!!!, and a "free lunch" as we have a gift certificate worth $25 (from over a year ago when we went together...) and the lunch will not be too much more than $25 tomorrow! :) it's hibachi japanese where they cook in front of you! but, i wanted to fit in exercise, so, i asked if she'd walk at a really cool park by her and she said yes :)

BearCountryGG on 12/29/2018:
Interesting ideas of things to add to hot cereal...I plan to use some cacao powder and some raisins and nuts in the near future....and powdwred peanut butter....they all sound so good.....love the protein powder idea too.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
i bought the craisins a huge package on sale! i really wanted the "50%" less sugar kind but they weren't on sale and the package was so small. the difference in calories was hardly anything, so i settled with the huge bag of regular Craisins. they are so good. I got them to add to a honey cake i'm making. it calls for sliced almonds, but i'll also add the craisins in. Someone at work challenged me to make it. So i'd like to make it this weekend :)...in a lower carb variety, but still with the craisins which wouldn't make it keto, but still tasty! :)

graindart on 12/29/2018:
Haven't been to a hibachi restaurant in a few years. Liked taking my daughters to them a few times when they were younger. The food was always good, but the "show" was the main reason for going back then.....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2018:
yeah, and some taste good and some not so good...the one we were going to go to is very good with TONS of veggies...i miss it so!...hope to go sorta soon in the new year!

Weight: 114.0

Kombucha such a cool flavor - a very nice, tart cherry. must find this brand again! 50 (i had bought it near my parent's house...so maybe i will not find this brand again by me!)

8:30 Breakfast: whipped cream with extra pumpkin pie spice on top of my homemade pumpkin pie cheesecake!! this was too good but not filling enough. 400

10am coconut milk chocolate truffle (Lindor) and a few pistachios 100, herbal tea with caffeine, didn't realize it had caffeine...a hisbiscus flavor i had bought, not green tea.

11:30 Snack: salt and vinegar almonds 100

Lunch: veggie soup 130 and turkey burger 220 from home. skipped having my chips. 350, light and nice. later a clementine 50.

I want this day to be 2000 cal or less. should be easy now!

5pm healthy dinner: takeout from the city on my way home Indian Eggplant dish, good sized serving of it i took for dinner 300?, tofu at home 100, rice cakes 70. total here: approx 450. and an apple 100. 550.

6:30 dessert - cooked cranberries 60, raspberry greek yogurt 140, whipped cream 120. approx 300

total today is great: 1900

7day avg: 2115 - EXCELLENT

and we ended leaving work at 1:30pm so i went home, paid my rent and put $ on my laundry card at the housing office. and went for a small grocery shopping mostly veggies, some yogurt, and nuts. very basic shopping, just picked up the sliced almonds for a dessert i want to make :)

after running errands i'm really tired, so may just sleep very early tonight..tomorrow is a gym day and i think i may  do laundry tomorrow also or if not laundry, baking and cooking.

________________________________

we may get out at 2pm.....if so, going home to relax and sleep..

maybe baking another type of treat tonight, one that one of the engineer's at my company actually requested, a Keto Honey Cake, popular in Russia and Jewish culture which of both she is!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 12/28/2018:
Laundry for me tomorrow too...so nice that you got out of work early......The cake sounds delish!!! I have some rice cakes here too...and I never think of using them.......good idea....and a good base for peanut butter or almond butter....i can see me using those for my evening meal.....i'm trying to eat lighter because heavy meals are just starting to be a problem.......

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2018:
i like to put spreads (veggie spreads) on the rice cakes. it makes them less dry and it's instead of using regular rice, as rice cakes are puffed up and lower cals...peanut butter on them i like, but it doesn't fill me up, lol. so i go with spreads and use the rice cakes as, obviously, the carb.

BearCountryGG on 12/28/2018:
What kind of veggie spreads? I don't think I have ever seen those.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
when i do takeout from the indian places as well as an israeli place by me, the veggies are cooked in a lot of sauce. it's sometimes a bit thick and nice and spreadable like in a sandwich or on rice cakes or crackers :) they do sell spreads also...the brand is....

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
the brand Sabra has a lot of choices, some healthier than others. the hummus spreads are healthy but high calories, their veggie spreads i would buy though. only reason i don't buy them is the option for even fresher options like the ones i can get at restaurants. i'm not up to making my own just yet. :)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2018:
darn maybe it's not the sabra brand. i looked and they only have hummus and guac. there's another brand that has everything. lots of different salads and spreads. ...

_____________________________________________________________

Did the walk, got the 7-11 decaf coffee, and got the haircut since because there's no traffic including no train traffic today i got near the barbershop earlier than expected. the haircut is so nice, i'm so lucky! i don't need to make appts or anything and the guy gives me a better haircut than $50 dollar places! thank gosh! he's approx 70yrs old and does a mean haircut!

Plan is to take a less exercise approach today as tomorrow i'll do the long walk home from subway before tomorrow's storm. and get some decent sleep as last night i was up late exercising :) maybe buy a decaf coffee halfway along the route :) (1.5mi in..)

And then...happy friday :) ahh, friday weather says rain but warm. i'll just walk tomorrow anyways, tonight i'm sleepin'

Haircut tonight. tomorrow it's $16 right off the bus near home. i'd rather do it today than in the "rush" friday with everyone else. i have to tip well, as it's a barbershop but he does an awesome job for $16, i give him total $25. have to. it's a women's really nice haircut. decided no highlights for awhile, saving money...that would have been at least $150. Don't have that to blow out the window. i may start just dying my hair one color since i may have some gray, very little, but i don't like it. so i may just start dying my hair brown and call it a day.  ..but i'll miss the highlights a lot!

Tonight thru most of the weekend will be healthier, continuing to sleep well, less indulgent as i'm making the effort now to by MORE TRANSPARENT with myself (not lying to myself that it can't be done!) and just quit the extras a bit and my emphasis will be in getting calorie averages in the next two weeks around 2000/day and not 2200/day.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 12/27/2018:
Yup...we can all be better with some positive SELF TALK!!! Have our own PEP RALLY going on!!!

horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2018:
YES and YES!!!! wow you read me well!

legcramps on 12/27/2018:
Yes! Sleep! Enjoy your haircut tonight; I bet I will be half asleep by then ;)

I like your plan to be more transparent; you've totally got this.

horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2018:
and i might just do the walk tonight (without tomorrow's rain) and haircut tomorrow :)

Thank you...i'll still sleep around 8pm tonight :)

enjoy your life as well! :) yayyyy sleep!

With the transparency...just no excuses, especially to myself. Especially regarding the ability to IMPROVE in cardio, situps, and at last maintain my current level of pushups!!!!! :) do it or die approach! :)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2018:
haircut was amazing :)

Horn_Of_Plenty - Wednesday Dec 26, 2018
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

6:30 kombucha 80 very tasty new flavor, guava mango.

Breakfast at work: someone's daughter baked the tricolor italian cookies 100, coffee 50, my delish pumpkin pie cheesecake 270.

10:30-12pm snacks throughout morning: leftover piece of flavored tofu is enough! 100, a chocolate 50, almonds 50

Lunch: from home...def on a sorta tight budget right now....(too much spending on groceries - way overboard includng more pyrex large glass food storage containers, spices and flavorings, almond flour, frozen items...extras in the food dept in general, small gifts for coworkers, and a necklace i bought for $120 out of nowhere at a holiday market held inside Grand Central Terminal 42nd street this weekend)

Lunch was my soup with a mix of bone broth and chicken broth 50, lots of added herbs on top of that while cooking, veggies 50, turkey burger 220, and lots of these very cheesy (but i like them) cauliflower crackers 180. total here: 500 healthy....

3pm snack of one chocolate 50

4pm: water, clementine 50..trying to take it easy :)

Snack pre-home workout tonight: coffee (FROM WORK!) 50, bar of some sort 80

Extra workout snack: banana, for sure, all my fun drinks, maybe another 3 clementines, chocolates  :)

After workout: light ice cream 200, calling it a night :)

1900.might as well stop...just like Grains has chosen to do on so many occasions lately. no need for more. good total right here!

5day: 2192, now getting on a better path.

with plans canceled tomorrow after work, there's no reason why i cannot have a healthy, moderate cal day. Same for Friday. need to dial it back and just relax alone a bit i think.

________________________________

Thursday after work plans are cancelled bc one of the people i'm meeting, their mom was in the hospital and just came home so they want to spend time with her....i wished her a fast recovery (not sure why she was there...) and actually do not mind going right home tomorrow after work at all!...it was becoming too much this week anyways! :) i'd rather rest up since things are still busy now and with fitting exercise in!

_____________________________________________________________________________

I got here to work on time, despite the train delays simply because the bus ride was fast (due to less people on the road!) and not too many people were riding so less congestion! :) amazing.

I had some indigestion last night. lately, i get it off and on. mostly due to eating before bed.

i was up for an hour or so at night looking at my phone, but sleep was great on the long weekend in general, so i'm not worried, just sayin' what's going on :)

I now have really nice tea i bought at the supermarket with packet of stevia (provided by work!) since i sit by the cold/hot water cooler :)...decided to have more teas this year as long as i'm sitting in this office...works out perfectly!  LOL

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 12/26/2018:
Sounds like a pleasant commute...with so many off work and school this week.......should be nice traveling for the rest of the week too.

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2018:
yes, i'm thinking i'll be ok all week :) despite some delays i still got here on time bc far less people are rummaging around :)

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate :)

7:30am Morning: still waking up with slight pain, so, banana and selltzer and pain meds 120

8:30-9 Breakfast: Small piece of my pumpkin cheesecake 130, so good, oatmeal 100, made with some protein powder (i always get samples when i go to Vitamin Shoppe so it seems i don't need to buy it on my own any time soon :) ) 100, saffron both by itself and followed up with water, as well as a few strands in the oatmeal, almond milk 20, whipped cream 70. coffee 50...and great variety!!

11am dark chocolate 100

Thai food summer rolls 200 rice 200, shrimp 150, sautéed veggies and sauce 250,

later popcorn and grapes 100 hot green tea just chilling with dad and relaxing at his house , pretzels 50

back home, 5:45 dinner : cooked up turkey burgers for the week 220,  wrap 80, spread 150, leftover cauliflour wrap 50, yogurt and some cooked cranberries 160 600

2250

high cal, but at least healthy and around 4mi walk with dad.

4day is high, but at least includes good exercise 4 of the 4 days! 2265 for the 4days. and it will probably remain up there as tomorrow i can do pretty good but exercising at night so a later night tomorrow. Thursday going out to eat after work...Friday thinking i might get out early which would be good to get a drink and meal...and then go home and exercise would be the plan....but just it seems lots of food will be in store these next 3 days. i can tell i gained a hair of weight...will just deal with it for now...and keep with the moderation.

and i just decided, if i do NOT get out early Friday, i'll still go for a drink with coworkers and bite to eat, but go home to rest and just do the gym Saturday. Pick and choose is sometimes bettter than trying to fit everything into one day :)

________________________________________

Today my mom works at a nursing home (we're jewish so she went in since most others will take off)...so my dad is off though. so i'm going to drive to him and go for lunch and then read and relax at their house for a bit. thinking to walk...i'm not sure if my dad will be up to it since he recently had Cataract Surgery on his eye - though he is pretty young 66..i should call him now..

Well, he IS up to walking "into town" so we can find a chinese place to eat at....or thai...so a long walk is in store for this afternoon with my dad :)

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/25/2018:
Thank you - and peace be with you as well!

One of the advantages of living in a big city is that there's still a lot to do! My suburb town is pretty much closed. CVS, Walgreens, and 7-Eleven convenience stores are open... I am grateful though, because this means that my daughter is not working today, too.

Hope you have a nice lunch with your dad - that sounds like a good way to spend the day!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2018:
most things are closed by me too and my parents...just SOME Thinese / Thai places are open since they don't celebrate Christmas. it's a good time for them to make money. but even some of them shut down as they'd just like a day off too! but yes, the movies by me are OPEN and most movie theatres in the area as well as some Chinese food spots! the first Thai place we walked to was closed. my parent's town is very big on restaurants in the main section of town. many many choices tho everything was closed today, aside from what i mentioned !

i'm glad you could spend the time with your whole family. i'm sure it was very nice. :)

did everyone like their gifts?!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2018:
and i like what you wrote in your entry about everyone having some Santa in their heart :)

graindart on 12/25/2018:
About the only thing open around here is Walgreens and a couple gas stations. I'm guessing that anyone that didn't prepare ahead of time was probably eating a gas-station burrito today. I didn't even remember that Walgreens was open today until I got a notification on my phone. It came in handy to get some Christmas photos printed from earlier in the day. That way we were able to distribute them tonight before hitting the road tomorrow.

I shouldn't have read your post today. It's been a few days since I've eaten popcorn and just realized that I haven't really been craving it. But now that I read the word popcorn in your entry, I really want a bowl.....

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2018:
lol...this popcorn was good. it was the store brand by Costco Wholesale that my dad gets when he goes there. (similar to BJ's and other wholesale places). Like you, i was watching my portions as i had a pretty large breakfast and lunch yesterday, so i seriously only took one small handful, same for grapes....then indulged in sugar free teas and seltzers for the rest of the afternoon with a small pretzel before driving home for a boost....worked out :)

i'm also needing to watch myself....jeans are getting tight...i'm a bit worried as i don't see calories going down too much this week and then florida. i figure over there, some days to just sleep in and skip breakfast or something, we'll see. i'm not even going to plan miami in advance! too difficult since she's (the one i'm staying with) very busy right now.

BearCountryGG on 12/26/2018:
So nice of your mom to fill in while others celebrate......and great that you and your Dad got to spend some time together.

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2018:
YES, i'm going to remind her of your words...NICE TO FILL IN while the others are celebrating...it's a good way to put it! :) xxoo with my dad was amazing. he even agreed to the photo i posted on fb as he usually is freaked out in regards to anything related to fb! :)

Horn_Of_Plenty - Monday Dec 24, 2018
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

3am/8am 2 bananas, pain meds, water  - did the trick. 250

8:30 - 2 pieces or 1/8 of my awesome pumpkin pie which turned out very delightful after following the recipe to a T. Each piece 280 cal.  Bc it's has protein powder there's a bit of protein per slice is 10g protein so by eating two its 20g protein or 40% daily value - good. And tasty fats. 560.

donkey it's a good crust recipe and simple. Makes a nice sweet crust.

Breakfast was Not very filling foods above but tasty and doing the trick for now with at least my taste buds !

while running errands, small kitkat 90 and 3 cans of flavored seltzer to which i added stevia. remind me: no more bananas in middle of the night and no more TWO slices of cheesecake for breakfast - they were small, but, come on! the calories added up too fast.

3pm 1450 after a healthy lunch for 550. and since it's cold and i'm pooped from errands and a tasty lunch, i'll be exercising in my apt, not the gym today :)

4pm coffee and some of a pumpkin cheesecake small 150..

during workout: yup, 3rd banana of the day. 150, aminos, clementine

8pm dinner cauli crust 200 with eggplant tomato paste spread 200, bite of tofu seasoned 50. 450.

2250, good.

dermatologist soon at 10:15am and a super quick run to store to pick up a few more groceries so I can cook more this coming weekend and maybe even tomorrow without needing to go to store :) I think I want to buy another package of almond flour since the crust is awesome and now I am out of it.

My Yummy Pumpkin pie:

then i thought of donkey...someone on facebook posted a "flask" for cat lovers...i debated not posting it here as donkey doesn't drink, but, i did think of you donkey when i saw this on facebook the other day!

Me on Saturday at an art exhibit:

My friend and I in midtown manhattan inside a hotel called the Lottle Palace Hotel...I'm in the sneakers on the left :)  She's the one I went to the city with on Saturday.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/24/2018:
OTC pain meds are my friend every month: 2 extra strength Tylenol and 2 Aleve. Icy Hot on the abdomen. Every 4 hours, take more Tylenol

Horn_of_plenty on 12/24/2018:
yeah this time around, not good at all...

the good part was the my whole TOM finished quick, as it has been in my mid-30s, in two days. now it's just so light. so, the pain will go. i think some of the reason for so much pain must have been the heavy flow. i'm fine tho! weird part is no abdomen pain. only my right thigh, lower back. always!

BearCountryGG on 12/24/2018:
I had a box of midol in the medicine cabinet and D told me we were out....WHAT???????? (counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

2 day: healthy and tasty, 2275 cals per day. up there but tasty.

12am and 6am: bananas and pain meds 250 :) worked out just fine :)

Healthy breakfast: leftover spicy small but firm (very tasty!) tofu from last night 100, saag 200? (indian creamy spinach), thin small rice cakes 80. 380.

630 yum.

Light noon meal: big apple 100, 1/4 of my cooked cranberries very sweet with stevia and very small amount (few strands) of saffron. 50, plain skyr yogurt with chai spice stevia 120, and soon a decaf coffee 50- laying off the caffeine for today maybe since my body is hurting i'd rather lay low and rest today - being home cooking and doing laundry will be fine! 320 here.

2:30-3:30pm snack: seltzer all day with stevia (must clean my brita filter so i can start saving money and drinking tap water again...have been having seltzer only for months now...lol) and microwaved warmed up cookie dough :) 150., pumpkin 100 with chai stevia and pumpkin spices, siggis pumpkin & spice yogurt thick 150, some of the veggie soup as it's still cooking but i took some for now to eat since it's only veggies and soup and tastes good right now too! 50

...veggie soup tastes nice and fresh :) and i cannot wait to cook this pumpkin pie after laundry is DONE :) and i can concentrate just on this pie that's been in the words to make since FOREVER :)

while cooking 5-7pm: big grapefruit 100, sugar free amino drinks very strong flavors that i love...caffeine free also. just for flavor and some tastes of my pumpkin pie crust and cheesecake that i'm making...

then i had a nice amout of tastings of the batter to the pumpkin pie keto cheesecake i made. 400 cal. bc i ate quite a bit.

8pm dinner: wrap 120, egg and a white 100, a tasty eggplant and tomato sauce spread heavy on it ! 130? total here: 350

2250 today and very tasty stuff. wish i could have watched it better with the eating of the batter, at least it was good.

now that food is mostly cooked for the week, still gotta make turkey burgers though!...and the pie has finally been baked...we're off to a great start come Monday!

i rested up, exercise will resume tomorrow Midday. I have a dermatologist appt in morning and after that i'll do a quick food shopping, lunch, and off to gym in afternoon.

Bad leg/thigh/lower back cramps in middle of the night so, both times that i woke up i decided on having a banana and pain medicine which worked both times to get me back to sleep and resting comfortably. it's that TOM and this time around the pain is heavy.

I'm cooking a veggie soup with all the glory (meaning, it's awesome!). i'll post a photo later. I also want to post some other photos later. I wish i took some photos of the Cat lover's gifts i saw yesterday around NYC, would have liked to show Donkey what i saw. even magnets :).  I'll post some photos of what i saw yesterday later today! and will be commenting more on entries.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/23/2018:
See, I would NOT have guessed to try a banana. Is that why you eat bananas during your workouts, too?

I'm sorry I did not comment on yesterday's entry. That sounds like it was a lot of fun - and a full day!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
Yes, i do it for the fast carbs but also definitely due to the potassium content.no worries about lack of comments & i saw your message on fb and will reply in a little. lately i a see everywhere is cat lover's gifts...was thinking of you all afternoon yesterday bc CATS' lovers gifts were everywhere i went!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
i also didn't want to take the pain meds on empty stomach, so i settled it first with a banana. i know it's high carb and all, but it also promotes sleep and def has a good effect on bubbling stomachs / cramps / period issues of bloating and the rest of it.

BearCountryGG on 12/23/2018:
When I have cramps in the middle of the night...I get up and drink a full glass of water, or gatorade sometimes.......cramps can be caused by dehydration.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
i also did have water...dam time of month issues over here but yes i didn't drink much yesterday out in the city and that prob is what lead to worse issues at night!

Donkey on 12/23/2018:
I was thinking Gatorade too for muscle cramps, but for taking meds or to settle a tummy, the banana is probably what I'd reach for too.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
just a "****tay" TOM this time around. that's for sure!

my mom gave me awesome new spices a mixture sorta pricey taste she has from a farmer's market she'd thought of me and i'm thinking that even though they are for soups / meals - to start using them as a change of pace in my breakfast sandwiches too. i'll also use those spices in my veggie soup to be made this long weekend :) I'm def bringng my lunches all the next two weeks since they are short weeks and low stress weeks! There will also be two nights next week that i'm making plans to see friends / coworkers after work for dinners (both thursday & friday!).

_______________________________________________

Today's plans - noon meeting at GCT -  out to lunch, eating in the Dining Concourse at Grand Central Station (Grand Central Terminal GCT) 42nd Street Train Terminal !! It's by my work so i'll take the train i always take for work and walk a few blocks to that spot. Meeting my friend Christine.  I'm surprising her, she doesn't know - but we're stopping by Rockefeller Centre so she can see the tree and go to Sephora and a few stores there before we head to an Outdoor Market for Christmas held near Central Park (she knows only of this part!). I have NO IDEA what we will be doing for a later dinner. but, no worries. there's food everywhere in NYC!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

graindart on 12/22/2018:
Hooe you and your friend have fun running around.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/22/2018:
yes, she even said "this day was a success" and she doesn't often get that complimentary of plans! hahaha, it was great!

graindart on 12/23/2018:
Living in a large city like NYC would be a log more difficult for me while trying to control my food intake. Since I live in a smaller city (pop around 50k), I've been to every restaurant in town several times over the years. We occasionally get new restaurants opening, but probably not more than 3 or 4 per year. In a large city you could eat out every meal every day and never have to go to the same restaurant twice. Knowing that I could try different food each and every day of my life would be such a huge temptation for me.

Good job having a fun day out and still logging in a moderate number of calories by the end.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
i'd like to now offer an amazing counter-statement to your comment above :)

Now, compared to even 15-20 years ago, people are so much more health conscious. Living in NYC with people with $$$$ all around, the food market and restaurants need to cater to people who live that health-conscious lifestyle....

So, in conclusion, finding HEALTHY food choices is EASIER in NYC than it is in most other places, especially the mid-west and stuff and even anywhere outside a major city where the clientele cannot simply afford such variety or get it shipped into their smaller cities at such a rate like NYC where the abundance is everywhere and everyone is ordering it / selling it.

especially places that are that buffet style, like the Duke Eatery by my work, when you have a HUGE room filled to the brim with buffet stations, sandwich stations, salad stations, sushi stations, "Poke" salad stations....galore....soups, etc... it's so easy to start choosing the right thing.

i used to gravitate at first more towards making sure to get some dumplings or some noodles to try, and sometimes it what i'm in the mood for, but lately the healthy options are good and staring you in the face, you start to be very happy choosing them.

and salads are most always an option at the restaurants...and i know (based on years of learning) how to order lower cal - at MOST places.

so, if you were to be in NYC, i think you'd find a way...it's actually helped me on my diet as of late because the options are there even if i don't bring lunch from home. and when i want salmon, i just have to walk 5min and i have it ready-made....it's crazy!

the gluttony of NYC is NUTZ!

On way home, if we get out early which is 99% right now to leave at 1pm: coffee and something semi sweet on the way to workout at home almost 99% sure we are NOT getting out early now! gym, bringing two small bananas to gym  also and my sugar free, caffeine free drinks too for what I'm ancticipating to be a full afternoon of GYMMING. like many hours there...prob 3hrs there with rest of course here and there.

ahhhhh...Russian nice coworker gave me 2 different CHEESE types of desserts. very large sizes and high cals...i may have to give to someone else or throw away as now the calories are just coming from everywhere and my body is rejecting it all...meaning, i just indulged in cookies for breakfast and i'm sick of the high cal consequences of weight gain. i'm really ready now to watch it :) for now.  i am prepared with a healthy second breakfast and lunch. my goals are now more important than more desserts.

although the fancy cheese desserts are russian and a gift of a coworker's WIFE now!!!! to me!!!! they are really good. trying to think what to do.

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

legcramps on 12/21/2018:
How nice to get some extra time off work! I think I might leave early on Monday, Christmas Eve. My boss said I should, so we'll see how much work I get done.

I would keep those desserts. Take them home; can you stand to keep them at your place and only have a little taste each day until it's gone? Sometimes I can't do that, but if you're really determined, you can make it happen and still be able to enjoy the gift!

horn_of_plenty on 12/21/2018:
I may not be able to do it because they are really different from what i normally eat and the calories, even per OUNCE (like golfball size) will be 200 cals. very high cal because they are mostly cheese. I do not want to throw them out, not sure what i'll do. maybe give them to a homeless person.

also, now it seems we may not be getting out early today...but at least we have Monday off.

horn_of_plenty on 12/21/2018:
You better leave early Monday!!!!!!!

BearCountryGG on 12/21/2018:
Cheese is a great source of calcium!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/21/2018:
lol, yes

Horn_of_plenty on 12/21/2018:
gave it to one of the "regular" homeless men i see in my subway station near my apt coming home.

graindart on 12/21/2018:
Other than cheesecake, I can't really think of much in the way of cheese desserts. Maybe I'll google it later, too lazy / tired to even use google right now. Love cheese and love cheesecake, but hate the smaller portion sizes necessary to high calorie content.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/22/2018:
well one of these desserts i was given i hadn't seen before either. it was seriously like cottage cheese mixed with flour (but probably blended or something well) and fried. it looked like a fried potato treat, but it was made only from flour and cheese. i didn't even want to try that one.

the other was a heavy cheese danish type thing. with TONS of sweet cheese inside, of which i did try the smallest taste and realized it was way to rich and i'd do better staying away.

cheese and sugar = higher calories indeed. and the portion sizes like you say aren't worth it. i'd rather stick to individual serving chocolates. especially since these desserts i don't have often or at all, the desire to have a bigger slice would be there. so i didn't want any.
