Friday, 7/23/21

lower body strength - AM - done, instead of walking. glad i got that in before work, after parking.

breakfast: banana 120, pb not much 50, one more italian tri-color cookie 200? coffee 30. 400.

snacks: almonds bbq 50, 10am pb 100, bite size piece of tricolor - and maybe more later. very good tasting. 100.

lunch: hopefully nobody orders ahhhh JOE ORDERED PIZZA! i have some healthy items...ate my squash stewed 100 (bc i wanted to be very full and it helped...), also ate the brocc rabb (tons of it!) off the pizza of two huge slices 200, half a large slice of pizza dough/cheese part 400. 700. was a good taste. the pizza is NYC style and extremely large slices. hot strong coffee.

snacks:

dinner: 5:30pm light snack before workout, decided to do upper body - fruit, small choc, fiber one cookie. total 250

7:45 spicy dill pickle almonds 100, mint chocolates 100 250. followed by reading and sleeping. no workout. possibly tomorow eve, but prob just do it Sunday. old pack some sugar free gummies 100

1850-1900.

will prob eat what i brought for lunch, the remainder of it, for dinner (older eng muffin i've had a while, slice cheese, two turkey meatballs i made). but i may just throw it out and have a lighter dinner of fruit/yogurt, yes, really, because it's not that much of a waste. or i can try to give it to a homeless person but it's not good to eat cold.  maybe i'll heat it up and give away?

I took my notes today; to study at work for the last half hour that i'm here is my plan; to study the accounting as main boss is out, another PM on vaca, and the other PM leaves usually at 2-3pm and i leave at 3:30 so nobody should be around that i need to communicate with during that half hour...(others will be here; but they will be doing their own things).  I may study at other times too, but first there's def things to catch up on first...had enough work work to just stick to real work at work!

I've decided to skip weights tonight & go to bed early so I will enjoy the walking tour tomorrow. So that means just 2x upper body this week; not 3x. LIke i was saying in earlier entries, i'm going to maybe do 2x a week some weeks just bc i've found this schedule/commute a little rough...and try to keep my strength going back & forth between 2x a week some weeks and my better 3x a week approach. (It is what it is - and i am not about to exhaust myself when the most important thing i need to do right now is SLEEP!).  Bed early tonight, i'm sure, around 8pm/9pm.

Saturday, 7/24/21

If i decide to wake up early, i can take notes on the last chapter?

I will drive because in the morning, traffic will be somewhat light as the tour begins at 11am. Going home traffic but after walking on a 2-hour tour, I'll deal with driving in traffic.

Marble Hill Walking Tour, $30, 11am-1pm. i should be able to get there on time if i leave at 9:00am, no problems at all; and read a book on my phone in my car if i'm early.

mcdonalds after tour with a diet coke - while having oil change?

oil change/study notes straight after tour- bring notebook with me in morning so i do not forgot it...

finish last chapter of notes? may need to finish Sunday as well...

Sunday, 7/25/21

Supermarket AM - do a quick stop at supermarket bc not going to farm this weekend. get fruit/veg/any other small items. no need for breads/meat. have a lot of frozen turkey burgers, etc.Laundry AM

Earlier PM - EXERCISE; get it done!

study all notes for all chapters, take exam, see how i do, hopefully pass.

Move onto the Exam 4 study chapters, see above.

8/26/21 - Thurs - Back to work

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 07/23/2021:
YES! I completely support your decisions regarding weight training in relation to time/sleep and walking tour. And I also applaud your good judgment to get a little more sleep and drive in today. You do not want to be compromised for your walking tour - which you are looking forward to a lot - nor do you want to be compromised AFTER your tour because you walked too much the day before the tour. Your legs need to rest. And I know the walking tour is very important and much anticipated by you!

My step-father was Sicilian, and when his parents' generation were still alive (Uncle Joe, Aunt Santa, Grandma, etc.), they would make Italian cookies - from scratch - that were authentic. Soooo delicious! And wonderful while they were fresh, BUT I also liked them very much when they were just a little older (not stale, but not freshly made). It changed the textures and brought out the flavors a little more, I felt. Ohh so yummy and hard to resist. In fact - impossible to resist!

Glad to read that you brought study material to work. Your plan sounds good. If I weren't out in the damn open where I work, I would do the same thing. I have a question: If you leave something in your car (like your study material), are you allowed to leave your office to fetch it out of your car?

horn_of_plenty on 07/23/2021:
car is quite down the road and takes just under 5min to get to it; and nobody goes for walks at lunch and it would take over 5 min just to go to my car and then come back. it's a good idea to get a walk in, but, better to bring the materials with me purposely so i have them at my desk no matter what. with nobody here, i wouldn't want to show either that i'm going walking extra, etc. best to lay low with the materials here; but, i may go outside a few minutes at lunch depending on what everyone else is doing...like if they order pizza (i doubt it, and they are all in the same room, i shouldn't go and instead stay with the group, etc.)

yeah, i need to learn to be moderate in knowing not to overdo both before and after the walk so i'm able to keep going without days off of work :) the life/work balance :) thank you!

Maria7 on 07/23/2021:
Squash sounds good. Thought we were going to have some to harvest from our little garden, but even though they got blooms, no squash yet.

horn_of_plenty on 07/23/2021:
i hope you get some, it's so lo-cal and healthy! you can do a TON with it! GOOD LUCK!!!

  • Topic 10 - Chapter 10 - Acquisition of Property, Plant, Equipment - in progress...might be an easier chapter, we'll see..but haven't started it YET.

Exam 3 - trying for this weekend, ending July 18.

Thursday 7/22/21 -

8am Breakfast: someone brought in the tricolor italian cookies with the raspberry jelly. SO FRESH. calories were totally off on the package. anyways, they are a good size. rather than not have one, I was going to have half a donut i put in the fridge, but i will throw a half a donut away as this was much better! ha. 200 and a banana and coffee 150....350. (lol, no it wasn't satisfying by 10am very ready for something with a little sugar to keep the blood sugar good lol...it's fine...always like my morning with a snack no matter what!)

10am snack: similar to a granola bar 120; pb 120. 250., 11:30 two chocs small 50, one sucking candy 50.

lunch: brought in a thai soup that i had froze bc i wasn't eating it for a week (but now it's older, been in freezer prob at least a week). should be good after heating up.  (omg, very garlicky! but good /fresh. but this time too much garlic taste! maybe bc it's old.. 200. I will prob have it with toast & PB Kelloggs 200cal crackers to add some more carbs/fat. 400 one clementine. 50.

snack: prob a couple clementines...

dinner: prob toasted eng muffins with cheddar just like last night; side of my cooked squash? maybe lay off the kombucha as i've been wayyyy too gassy and having issues lately. it's def posible too have too much of it! haha...if i change my mind to fried chicken/fries that is fine, too....from arbys; with a side salad of my own making...

dinner: tried a new indian place. food is expensive for the portion size, but GREAT! great prep of the spinach/mushroom. i'd def order it again. no cream in this one, just oils. better that way...not that i care as long as i can get Indian food, but their food tastes GREAT. by work. did takeout. spinach and mushrooms sauteed, lots of sauce/oils but tasty and healthy 200?, fried samosa with herbed potato inside 250-300, gummy candy for dessert 200. lol not the best choice. 650. and an alcoholic beverage. (yes, i do seem to splurge when i know i have the calories left in the evening).

1900...

guinea pigs are eating all the farm goods. Def savings this week; not too much; but prob around $10.  That's nice! And that includes i guess savings on my food, too, since i'm eating mostly the weeds! haha  Last summer i think my savings would go up to $15 per week of free food.

Today I commuted, so I added in an HOUR overall of cardio. :)  I have a nice long commute; so it's easy to read over some of my notes each way.  Depending how I feel, I may even do it again Friday (but depends how I feel tonight when i decide to set my clock or not). plus i've added on an extra half hour as i'm walking from lunch to pick up Indian Mushroom Saag (like creamed spinach with mushrooms) from a place around a mile away from work after work today for a change of pace! I will eat with my last hard boiled egg...

Tonight will be weights, maybe only upper so that it's shorter as i know i'll be a little tired after being up early. I went to be very early which is why I knew it'd be OK to do an early day today  :)

Lately, I'm a bit constipated and everything is blocked up, mostly. not totally, so it's not like I haven't gone to the bathroom, but just I'm not able to totally do what I know I have inside me which is quite weird this week!

anyways, it's almost the weekend; and i'm super excited to go on another walking tour Saturday.

skipping weights tonight - will do tomorrow as I'll be getting home late and would prefer to go to bed straight after dinner - will drive to work tomorrow abs do weights after work.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Jacky82020 on 07/22/2021:
I am shocked by the calories in some desserts. Ate a reasonable sized piece of key lime pie last week. Then another. Next day I saw 500 calories in 1/5 slice. It was NOT a big pie. I was floored. So that was a thousand Cals in the middle of the night. Wish I had at least taken 2 Alli & blocked maybe 150 Cals of all that fat. I rode the bike and treaded until my toes hurt the morning after. The pie wasn’t even all that great,

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
really 500!? per 1/5? was there a lot of whipped cream on it?? usually they look under 400 cals...

Donkey on 07/22/2021:
I agree with Jacky on the disappointing number of calories in desserts. I be like, "How can there be so many damn calories can be in this little piece of cake, y'all?" Right??? Just doesn't seem fair.

Good for you for taking public transit!!! It's good to mix things up a bit, from time to time. I hope that you do not get too tired during the day, at work. Try to get to bed early, in a proper way, rather than taking a Guinea pig nap ;-)

If Christine can't go to the beach, will you still take the day off? I know you wrote more about your friend, last week, and in earlier entries as well. All friendships have a different level of "give and take". It seems as though the friendship with her is a lot of giving on your part. Still, that doesn't mean to scratch her off your friends list (yet, or ever). It just means that you'll have to set your expectations differently (like, way low, LOL). Sounds like she has issues, and it's nice that you reach out to her, even if she says no a lot.

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
public transit DEF breaks it up. and it's DEF a long commute to get in some studying...

i think the sleeping gp and me waking up DEF disturbs my sleep...hence being extra tired some mornings, for sure.

yeah, C, she's stuck in a world of rules and it's harder for her since she's not vaccinated. not sure why she isn't asking me to go to beach. i have told her to ask me....she loves beach but i'm not pushing her as she should push herself to plan or ask me to plan?! lol. it's ok. when it's close to when i'll take off again, i'll ask her what days are good / plan around the weather. ...i doubt i'll go much to the beach with her this year...i think we already went once though i can't even remember!? nah, that must have been last year.!...it's al good i have learned what you are saying, take care of my own stuff...

Jacky82020 on 07/22/2021:
They come with whipped cream around the perimeter. Not even sure it’s real. Read made with sweetened condensed milk. Cold day in hell before I have another piece of key lime pie! Could have had Butterfingers or Reese Cups for all those calories & enjoyed it far more. But the pie was there and they weren’t.

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
seems like too many calories for a key lime pie! i agree, better off with chocolate!

bearcountrygg on 07/22/2021:
Jacky mentioning sweetened condensed milk reminds me of a 3 ingredient truffle recipe.....UGH...I never made them...BUT...darn it..i WANTED THEM!!! And I think I saved it in my email in case I ever want to gain weight again....LOL AS IF!!!

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
see if you can find it; possibly can sub in unsweetened choc to save calories; i'd like to see it, maybe add stevia in....maybe i make for work! i want to make a low or no sugar added dessert as i think everyone would like it....and there was one that i made i the past that everyone loved at another workplace...so i may do it again, but not yet, or the other women are going to get annoyed with me. need to be careful not to show off or do anything too much. i'm thinking 1x a month or less.

Easy and Quick Chocolate Truffles ( 2 Ingredients Only ) Prep Time10 mins In the refrigerator1 hr Course: Desserts Servings: 8 Ingredients

100 ml condensed milk ( 3.38 fl oz ) 50 g 100% cocoa powder ( 1.7 oz ) 30 g 100% cocoa powder ( for coating ) ( 1 oz )

Instructions

Pour the condensed milk into a large bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Then pour the cocoa powder over the condensed milk using a sieve. Then stir with a spatula until the cocoa and milk are well combined. Finish mixing the paste by hand. Make a flat disc from the dough, wrap in cling film and let it chill for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Remove the dough from the fridge, and place it on a cutting board. Then cut the dough into several squares. In a plate, pour into a sieve 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Take a square of chocolate paste in your hand and knead it until a uniform ball. Do the same for each square. Place all the balls on the cocoa powder and roll them up so that each ball is well coated with cocoa. You can eat them right away or put them in a air tight container and keep them in a cool place for several days.

.

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
Thank you!!!!! Will review. this looks great! :)

bearcountrygg on 07/22/2021:
These are only 2 ingredients I see...I thought they had butter in them but I guess not...even easier.....I will put the pic on my diary...it won't let me put it here.

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
I will def take a look, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

bearcountrygg on 07/22/2021:
The original recipe that I saw was one where you did make the flat disk and refrigerate...and then you just cut them in squares and toss in the extra cocoa powder to coat all sides.....I think I would go in that direction so as not to handle it as much....pic is up on my diary.

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
yes, i guess the squares are handled less but the balls are cute!

bearcountrygg on 07/22/2021:
I should say here that this is using SWEETENED condensed milk...NOT evaporated milk.....there is a HUGE difference.

horn_of_plenty on 07/23/2021:
yeah, i'd prob just use it too if i make them. ;) thank you. bc evap would need a thickener, etc. we'll see.

Wednesday, 7/21/21

having a very tired day. not enough sleep this week so far. up late all nights. not very late, but late enough. also sleep not straight thru as i've fallen asleep two nights in a row on the couch with guineas lol and then walking to my bed.

I think one of my guinea pigs is learning to "kiss me"...on my face! it's extremely adorable (in my mind, it's cute). he used to bite slightly, but it's softer now and with a lick sometimes of his tongue. like a small dog. will be making sure he continues to do this bc it's too cute.

breakfast: banana 120, coffee 30, pb on waffle 200.

snacks: cashews 150, choc 100 .; later couple sucking candles. very tired and also hungry feeling this AM.

lunch: healthy leftovers: really nice tasty pork chop? not sure what meat. also tasted a bite of someone's steak . 350, veggies 50, rice 150. 550. later or after a clementine 50.

snacks: lg cookie 100

dinner: maybe leftovers, maybe also takeout/leftovers...tbd: strawberries 100, eng muffin toasted with 2 slices cheddar and spices 150, jackfruit 100, kombucha 50....400...

1750...

walked for 15min AM, recorded. was rushed bc i left a hair late in the AM.

dr. phone call after work, 7pm...

legs tonight, maybe some cardio on stationary bike during/before/after phone call at 7pm.

IF i can get myself to bed early after phone call at 7pm, I may set my alarms to take the train tomorrow and study the 2 chapters of notes i've taken so far. (but having a very tired week, so,it may just be worth it to wake up at the later time, will think about it.)

(should have brought my accounting notes to study today bc it's been a slow day and that's a way for me to keep VERY quiet.)

Nice to get in a walk before work! Are you finding your phone appointments with your doctor to be helpful? Or is it more of a check-in for your prescription only? I'll admit, I'm kind of envious of Male Co-Worker going to see a therapist to help him with his mind-gut connection problem (stress, anxiety).

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
only for rx tonight with dr. it's only every 3 months. This dr never met me bc i had to change during pandemic and the other moved onto a diff workplace / making a new practice and it wasn't up and running where i could just switch over to her. it's just for renewal, although i can bring up any questions/statements. I will just update him on how i feel; prob get a renewed rx as usual. prob have already had 4 appts with him over phone by now since switching over to him.

monthly i do also get a call from a nurse for around 30min or however long i need to talk. that one is for like monthly therapy/support thru my insurance.

you should see about phone support or internet support therapists that you don't actually have to drive to and take your insurance. you could prob cut it down to once per month even.

KathyBlue on 07/21/2021:
Are you able to study on public transport? Uhh I was never able to focus because of the surroundings and noise and had to focus on the route itself to not to miss my stop.. hehe.. this all makes so much sense now, fast forward many years, I got diagnosed with ADHD so it is kind of expected that I felt too overwhelmed to study on buses.

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
yes, i am more distracted at home sometimes. but i also pay attention to the stops and have to transfer a couple times. but it's such a long commute, 1.5 hours at least, that it's worth bringing my materials even if just to browse over...which is what i do..i read my notes.

i'd rather re-read notes on the train/bus than at home!

Maria7 on 07/21/2021:
That is so sweet about your affectionate guinea pig. Sweet.

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
loving this one...he used to be a bit on the harsh side when i'd bring his face to mine, now he's being cool about it! so cute.

I agree with maria....the piggy sounds like he is quite content and happy.

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
i got lucky! and the baby is starting to come around and relax more when i hold it.

Maria7 on 07/21/2021:
It is good to have an affectionate pet. My cat, Snowball was affectionate until I had to treat him for ear mites the other day and now he won't let me near him. Smile. At least he is now healed and no longer scratching his left ear, which looks good now.

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
haha, hopefully your cat will turn back around. it's a little bit, i kiss him on the lips! haha...but not with a tongue or anything that would be insane!

but it's really cute the kissing. he also kisses my nose.

Jacky82020 on 07/21/2021:
How adorable! A piggie kiss!

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
oh yes!!!!!! i'm lovin' it! :) right now, 1 out of 3 pigs does it. it may stay like that! :)

Donkey on 07/21/2021:
That was so cute to read about your Guinea pig - and nice! It's nice when our animals tell us they love us.

Good luck with waking up early tomorrow... Hmm... you could also just wake up to drive in, and take your notes with you to study. That would be a win-win (sleep & study).

Perhaps on days that you drive in, always have your study stuff just in case the opportunity presents itself. ??? Just an idea?

horn_of_plenty on 07/22/2021:
I SHOULD see if I could check my notes sometime after lunch today ;) studying on the train is so easy; the bus is like 15-20 min, each train piece is like half an hour and there's 2. def great browsing of my notes all AM. :) the benefit is huge. PLUS, my metrocard i've been using has had money leftover that I put on months ago; when i was commuting everyday back in the other office (before i moved here). so it's like I'm commuting "free" each time i come in this way - because i haven't had to refill the card...but i need to soon - will only put low amounts on it now since i do not commute much anymore ;) While commuting daily, i'd fill the card to like $90 since a daily commute both ways is $5.50. Now, i'll prob just keep the card around $30.00-$40.00 tops.

  • Topic 10 - Chapter 10 - Acquisition of Property, Plant, Equipment - in progress...might be an easier chapter, we'll see..but haven't started it YET.

Exam 3 - trying for this weekend, ending July 18.

So, at the farm, most of the people the volunteers work with are seasonal. so there's a lot of turnover since most people want to work more than 2-3 seasons out of the year, ya know!? so, last year, i must say, i really enjoyed the workers we were with. they were mostly in their mid-late 20's maybe even one was 30.  they were SMART. the were NICE. they talked, they TAUGHT.

well, this year i've been there twice and with two different workers. they are just not as good as last year's! and someone isn't telling them that volunteers should get some free food also. it's not the level of the food sold, but it's free and organic. last year, i always got food. a lot of it. and this time, they don't even offer it.

My first time this year, i asked and she said not to tell her boss; and she came out (she - the worker) wih a few bouquets (little) of green onions/scallions of which i gave some away to people at the farm bc it was too much for me to eat.  This time, this woman who is hardly friendly and is the worker we were with, prob around 26, wears a thin tank top and no bra, asian no less (usually they seem more conservative, has very short hair lots of piercings...but really, mostly, not talkative and a bit stern! i ask her and she says "there may be none left." i was like, what!?

so that's why i picked the weeds. edible weeds. there was NO WAY i was going home with NOTHING! after volunteering 3 hours and surrounded by organic food!

then, i'm passing by the station where all the workers are and near the small refrigerator room. there's TONS of food scraps in buckets. I say to another coworker, what is all this!? She says, "for composting." I was like "can i take some home for my guinea pigs?" She said, sure. Truth is, i could have even taken more for myslelf of the fennel. it wasn't in terrible condition, just in small pieces.

So there were bucketfulls, like I said. there were Rainbow Chard pieces, but i left it as it's not the best for guinea pigs. there was a huge bucketful of fennel, so i took a few handfuls for the pigs as they love it and it's great for them. Honestly, the fennel wasn't even in such poor shape. It was dirty and in pieces, but, honestly, i should prob have taken even more for myself to eat.  I may even eat some of it. I also took some carrot heads (the greens) for the pigs as they LOVE it. some of the greens are dried/on the go but overall it's edible espiecally by my guinea pigs.

It's like, if you have volunteers work on your farm and it's not many volunteers, and you have extra food you aren't selling...how can you not offer it to them before using the rest to compost.

I have to say, shame on the farm this year.  I am not impressed.  I will prob leave them a message about it. How can people volunteer around all the organic food and you will not offer things that cannot be sold to them?!

I think the workers on the farm, the ones there a long time, have forgotten generosity all together - to not continue the system of treats.

Additinoally, the two times i volunteered, there were noticeably less than last year. perhaps others are horified at who is working there this year. i'm not horrified, but i feel the leaders at the farm haven't done a great job training this year's staff that work with the volunteers. it's sad. why should i go to the supermarket to buy food for my pigs if there's free food waste to grab at the farm. doesn't work for me, but i'll still go for exercise. and i will still leave with food, EVERY TIME i go! :)

brought my picked weeds that i made into a salad with butter lettuce and light olive oil/vinegar/salt/pepper into work and everyone liked it! everyone had a little taste :) maybe i'll do it one more time, end of summer, if i can get some farm organic veggies.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 07/20/2021:
I read your summary of the farm experience. Fortunately, it sounds like things could change for the better, at some point, towards the way they used to be. I completely agree that food "leftovers" should be offered first, and then composted. It was nice that they allowed you to take some greens for your Guinea pigs. That was very nice.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
yes, and i am enjoying some other species of greens for myself too. overall, i made out well, yes. i hope my luck continues - it should.

Jacky82020 on 07/20/2021:
What’s the purpose of this farm? How big is it? Do they grow food for poor ppl? Are many volunteers there for college community course or high school credit? We gave high school kids elective credit for such work.

Nice the piggies got some treats!

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
Not as big as farms upstate; i am not sure of size now; but it's pretty large indeed. multiple, many crops are grown and NOT given to the poor. they are sold for high prices. Eggs, organic, are $8 per dozen. nothing cheap. the farm is situated close to some parkways and major roadways and also right point blank in a diverse neighborhood. you can enter and walk in the farm (there's a few but not many animals to pet/visit.) they don't butcher or milk the animals; only getting eggs from the chickens. they feed weeds to the chickens, btw. whenever there's weeding, that's a big portion of the chicken diet - they aren't picky eaters!

the farm also has some community events that you need to buy tickets for - pumpkin picking (no, farm doens't grow them but has the land to put them on in the fall), corn maze, tractor rides, halloween things, farmstand to buy the food, flower events; a small camp for younger kids; a native american festival that takes place during one whole weekend with dancing/food and the native american people either rent the farm or are given use of it (not sure); cooking classes, virtual types of classes, etc.

high schoolers cannot volunteer you must be 18. i think under 21 must come with a parent! and only for weeding/harvesting - not working with animals because it can be a liability that the farm doesn't want to pay for (understandable!)

yes, some college kids find out about it and come. but most volunteers are already finished with college in their mid-20s or older. adults come to; all ages.

this year i noticed less volunteers both times i went.

last year, it'd always be packed - like almost 8 volunteers each time. i think 8-10 was the limit. and still is due to covid.

this time, volunteers were like 5 the first time and 6 this time. i don't see people from last year - but they may go only tuesdays. only volunteer days are tues/sunday. you'd think with such few volunteers, they be ok with giving us something in return...

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
it is so nice that anyone can walk thru the area on non-festival days (which is most of the year.)

Jacky82020 on 07/20/2021:
And sucks how you weren’t given some primo stuff!

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
We are NEVER, even last year, given the food that is of quality to be sold. BUT, it is sad that NOTHING was offered to us either time -and that i had to ask...and that the waste that wasn't in the worst condition as all - was being composted before offered. to me, it's wrong!

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
but it did work out both times i've went; especially this Sunday, as i did end of salvaging some carrot tops and fennel for the pigs as well as weeds haha for myself for salad. i will make sure to get some free dibs each time as otherwise i do not feel very happy to leave there empty handed!

Jacky82020 on 07/20/2021:
Wait! This farm makes money? Didn’t Lincoln free the slaves?

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
hahaha....we are supposed to get something...haha...

it doesn't make much i do not think. all food is organic....so i do not think there's big profit.it may even be non profit!! i'll have to check it! haha

Jacky82020 on 07/20/2021:
Still, where do they get off expecting ppl to slave away for free? I have done volunteer work, but wouldn’t do that without a motive: food, college credit or as a resume builder. Your resume is already so impressive that you don’t need it.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/20/2021:
i do it "for exercise." it's 2 or usually 3 hours. in the sun and moving more than i would any other day straight. it takes my mind off food and i sweat...burns a lot of cals. (yes, really). and it's out in nature....oh, and it's actually close (depending on traffic 15-25min) to me.

so, i would also like the free food, yes. it was never the cream of the crop food, but they should offer it before composting it - like donkey said.

i don't know what they are thinking this year. like, who's a** did the rat crawl up!? why is it ok to have paid workers not respect the volunteers more or make us feel welcome. not a fan. last year, the workers were like a total 360 from this year's. just not a fan of their outlook or dispositions!

happy-1 on 07/21/2021:
That is super weird that they don’t give the unsellable stuff away to the volunteers… No wonder there are fewer volunteers! It’s not about free food, but just experiencing the joy of it a little over the week. If anything the volunteers are likely to do shopping there.

horn_of_plenty on 07/21/2021:
maybe some volunteers will pay, but i do not think most would because the prices for the food are very high and volunteers aren't typically the type that will spend a ton of money for it..

generally though, you are so right on all of what you said!

KathyBlue on 07/21/2021:
I am reading the topics in your entry and I work with these things too, but I'm not a finance person. I just work in a project where we develop digital tools for the VIP finance department of a huge multinational company. :)

Donkey on 07/19/2021:
Hmm... How do you feel about people bringing in things like donuts to the office?

I read in a previous comment that you're going to try to hold off on getting the mouth guard - did I read that correctly? I hope that you can successfully train your jaw to sit right; it would be nice to avoid that $1400 expense right now. I was able to do something similar in my 30's, with yoga and relaxation. I'm not sure what happened, but I was able to stop clenching my jaw during the night for quite a few years.

horn_of_plenty on 07/19/2021:
yeah, he said it may always "click." so, since he didn't seem to say it's a "big problem," just that it can be frustrating if there's pain...i said to myself that most people wouldn't pay for such an expense and i should learn to work with it...hopefully i can always work with it. i need to not spend my money always on everything. i'd rather save it or put it towards a trip, you know? he never said it's necessary to have the mouthguard. he did tell me the process will be stopped for now - listened to my request and supported my decision without any problems.

Donkey on 07/19/2021:
Did you bring home a bounty of vegetables from the farm yesterday?

horn_of_plenty on 07/19/2021:
funny scenario. will write about it tonight i think :) ...the farm leaders/workers are not as helpful/knowledgable/friendly as least year. but yesterday worked out to my benefit...:)

How long have you had that TMJ? Hope the appliances (think that’s what they call them) works well for you.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/18/2021:
i have felt the jaw clicking for years. but this year, it decided to get stuck on me. the dentist showed me how if i manipulate my jaw, i can get it to open a bit more. still uncomfortable, but i'm holding off on the appliance right now. i want to see if i can learn to relax my jaw a bit and peraps skip the 1400 bill.

Donkey on 07/18/2021:
I hope your farm day goes well!!! Good for you for doing weights beforehand - I hope they don't wipe you out before you get to the farm!

Horn_of_plenty on 07/18/2021:
i didn't end up doing hardcore, speedy weights. just did everything, but totally at a slower pace while doing some other things. so, luckily, no it didn't affect me at the farm. Plus, i had a nice lunch right before leaving for the farm. it worked out great!

1:45-2pm lunch: toasted wrap 130 filled with leftovers of baked beens not a lot 70, half large burger 200. 2.5 servings stacy's pita chips garlic parm flavor. 350...750 didn't realize it was this much till my last crunch of a chip lol..will be thankful to fill up and eat a lot of squash later...need the bulk and filling feeling. will def be cooking more veggies - taking a look in freezer to see what i have later.

4pm-4:30pm snacks: most of a quart of strawberries that i bought like a week ago, at least. glad they are still good :) 100 will have the rest either tonight or tomorrow. dried jackfruit (sometimes they are very hard, like in this bag of them!)...like them better when they are chewier and not as hard. Dr said chewing is actually good for the jaw, not to worry about chewing hard foods.

5pm light part of dinner: stewed zucchini 100, some rice krisps dark chocolates 150...250.

7pm snack: last pack i think of pb on cheese crackers by kellogs. 200

brushed teeth as i realized i really didnt have an appetite anymore and i was sick of tastes of all the foods i was eating in my mouth!...

9-10pm kombucha sipping 50

home study accounting...goal this weekend is finish the 1.5 chapters i have left...if i do not get around to the test, i can take it next weekend (with study time during the week - reason to take public trans)...but it's best to try at least one test attempt this weekend; if i can get thru the material. I was going to study yesterday, but i stayed out a bit longer and wasn't in the mindframe for any concentration (although i tried) once i got home. by trying, i meant i ate carbs and thought i'd be able to concentrate and stop thinking about more food; but i was wrong lol. so i just relaxed and got some good rest last night.

zucchini cooking :) I already sliced them all up a couple days ago - just need to get them cooking.  will decide on how i will cook (stovetop vs crockpot) later. early afternoon? just finishing up cooking at 5pm...DONE!

Rice pudding cooking - used pretty old but not smelly leftover white rice from thai takeout to make homemade rice pudding. used almond milk instead of milk. we'll see how it turns out. i found the recipe in a "cooking for one" facebook group posted by this older woman (older than EVERYONE here) who is a good cook. i figure her recipe has got to be good. it has like two eggs, some cornstarch, nutmeg, sweetener (i used stevia)..and she was very clear to add just a little hot to cold items before to ready them before transfering (for instance, eggs), into the hot pot. we'll see what happens. easy recipe. i hope it's good. i threw out the rest of the rice. may have already started to go bad, but didn't look bad. so let me forget about that - and try the rice pudding tomorrow for breakfast. maybe with a pancake. DONE!

Bran Muffin cooking - either today or tomorrow...may even bring to work for myself only, i think...since i'm only making a small amount of them.

upper body weights, rest day for strength train lower body, later in afternoon at some point...tomorrow AM...

Sunday, 7/18/21

Will set alarms to go off around 8/8:30am today. that will also help me get out of bed.

Lift weights, semi efficiently as to not take all morning, in the morning. otherwise, it's going to be A HUGE PAIN to do after volunteering. (because i'll be pretty tired).

Volunteer at FARM :) 1-4pm - chances of rain, but i'll go as i'll be rested and do not mind a little rain as long as it's not a downpour!...and part of the reason i go to the farm, a big part, is the outdoor exercise.

freeze leftover turkey meatballs - to use for future meal planning.

decide what to eat for lunch tomorrow...thinking tofu and squash, chips from the work fridge - then throw them out bc i realize (and dad said to me!), that i know the coworkers i have now are super concerned about food left in the fridge too long and have asked why my chips are in there (bc once you put them in, you don't want to keep them out - they'll prob spoil right away) and i had originally htought i needed to bc of rats. so i'll eat the chips one last time Monday and throw them out after that...to be on good terms with coworkers...and throw the chips out as it's been in there at least 3 weeks. Next chips, i'll just keep by my desk so that i'm not feeding the whole office. People bring things in for the kitchen area, but i'm not up to that point yet. i don't make their salaries.

take more notes...on the next chapter finally starting it.

purposely limiting my plans because if i don't i'll be up late / stressed and i have a week's worth of regular working schedule ahead of me. i want to feel somewhat refreshed on Monday..

Friday, July 30th - VACATION DAY #6 -

Back to TMJ dentist. He will probably give me the night brace and fit it on me, etc. He's already taken my teeth impressions on Friday, the 16th. I believe i'll have to pay for the appointment, around $150. I'll use my health card which has enough funds as it's usually topped off around 5k. It will now take awhile i guess to replenish as I work more and more money gets added quickly (not sure how much each week.)  i've spend around 2000 of the 5000 already. that's fine. it has enough on it to not have worries.

Depending on weather, possible visit / use tram to either go or come back from "Roosevelt Island" right near Manhattan.

I invited friend to meet up with me in city for a nice day - to visit Roosevelt Island just to walk around together - although she doesn't love walking around as much as I but it would be a nice experience, i'd think?....she's the unvaccinated one and says she'd rather not go into the city with Covid around..."

Hearing that is fine, but I KNOW Covid is def staying around, but it reminds me that i need to do for me this Summer and not care how much (or how little) i do with her as she has a lot of things she's not going to do...and i should just finish my courses, get my own exercise.

...and take advantage of a summer that is more low key and fits my needs...I have offered quite a few times to do things with her; she has turned them all down. So it means i have to keep on doing what i'm doing; and know that i did try with her; and now rest easy trying. and just do for me now; especially with really needing to finish this accounting and start the other course on time (it's not a flexible start date).

it's just so frustrating that this "good friend" turns down everything because it limits me. yes, it does. i would be nice to have a friend to do things with. i do have only one more friend locally to ask to do these things and she has not been able to do them lately due to her schedule simply not meshing with mine. i could ask friends i'm not as close with; but my schedule is somewhat how i like it right now...so i'd rather just sign up for walks and volunteer things...rather than plan against someone else's schedule (which is harder).

Tuesday, 8/3

Wed - 8/4

check my progress in accounting course, am I almost done?...

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 07/17/2021:
It seems to me as though the priority is to just get through the accounting class. As much of a struggle as this appears to be, from your diary, I consider it a success in that it helped you make some decisions. GOOD! Keep this in mind, no matter what.

I hear you about snacking (possibly carb loading) to get more energy (more motivation?) to study. And then not being able to concentrate on the studying -- oh that sounds SO much like me!! Especially when the course I've been studying isn't really my cup of tea, or if it's really, REALLY demanding.

Did you find this kind of struggle to study any of your paralegal classes? I don't recall the struggle being that strong during your legal classes. I sympathize with you if accounting isn't your thing.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
almost all the other classes were either at least started or totally finished by when i stared working. so it is hard to compare.

i will say accounting was a tiny bit harder, possibly.

but i had all the time in the world for all the other classes i took bc i wasn't really working during any of them...except maybe one paralegal advanced course which i still think i may have started before i started working.

accounting isn't my thing (and you are right, i should remember i do not need any more of a masters degree or anything). i should just do more cardio and strengthen my legs when i'm done with these courses, is prob what i need most.

also, leading back to not needing a masters, you are right this is a sign not to take anymore classes past the business law...to concentrate again on cooking and other things. it's a time to delve into other interests, i am thinking, as it hasn't been easy to get this course done while working and i shouldn't be tormenting myself continuously.

Donkey on 07/17/2021:
PS if you need a diversion or a break from studying, feel free to read about my work drama from yesterday (Friday). I kept asking myself yesterday, How did we ever get to this point? LOL...

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
i'm def going to read your entry and respond...

bearcountrygg on 07/17/2021:
Well...zucchini in the crock pot is fast and will save you a lot of time that can be put to reading. You could set a timer for 15 minutes and start reading....you just might find that you are enjoying it...if not....set it again for 15 and take a little break...then reset again...on and on.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
i did it in crockpot and it's cooking now. very simple recipe as i didn't want a tomato/sauce/type of ingredient included and had no cheese. i prob could have done a light casserole like no cheese just butter and some panko topping - next time?

i just added a little water, salt/pepper, little olive oil, small onion and that was it. :) easiest recipe out there. should be good to indulge on later...and i will have a lot of it later! craving a light hot veggie dish and this will be it.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
i have such trouble concentrating on this course. i guess i'm "over it."

but i will finish.

Fri 7/16/21 Vacation Day 5 - TMJ Dental Specialist

9am breakfast: pancake 160, light syrup 40 (used a little too much and pancake was too soggy!) iced coffee 50, banana 150...400

10:45am snack before leaving: pb choc nut combo butter 100

1pmish Small meal before walking around park ice cream sandwich ($5 for ONE!) because it was bought from a vendor in NYC near touristy Central Park! LOL i cannot believe it's only 200 cal. ??? 300.

3pm? snack later: stuck with my own foods that i brought chia bar 100 with water.

found a water fountain at central park, GREAT! and didn't need to buy a bottle of water! saw someone else using it to refill and i thought that was a good deal to use it too!

4:30pm late snack before going home, very hungry and low sugar feeling: sour patch kids from another street vendor in queens, more normal price, $1.50 for one pack, more reasonable price on the street...200 cal

5pm-6:30pm i did buy a local iced coffee, 2.50 to drink on the 10 min walk home after i got off the bus around 4:50pm so that i could wake up and not be so tired once getting home 100...and had a ton of blueberries with it...like a full point 250...and a small corn bread! 150, raspberry flavor yogurt 100

7:30pm kelloggs cheese crackers with pb filling. 200. today is full of snacks. (despite having coffee at the end of the day while walking home, of course all i wanted to do was relax....hard to push it after a full day out, LOL). not used to being so active, but it was GOOD FOR ME. and i'm glad to have this time off, to break away from the routine. it's worked out well.

not the best eats. problem is i wasn't in the mood for veggies at first, so just snacked all night as i burned a lot of cals so i was both tired and hungry...but mostly eating, i think, because i was tired. well, i enjoyed it. garlic parm stacy's pitas. 250 cal. kombucha. 50.

2200.

appt was litterally next to Central Park, prob the biggest park in the 5 buroughs, maybe most of NY? not sure but it's big. I walked only in a small portion of it, nice views. may post later for you all to see the view i saw almost just as i entered the park.  You can enter the park basically anywhere as it's not gated. The whole middle of manhattan is all park, if you look at a map you'll see it's a good portion of Manhattan (the park is).

I just had breakfast before my noon appt, so after, i was happy to see there was tons of "cheaper" food trucks around Central Park. bought an ice cream as i didn't want to buy a huge meal before walking around. it was either ice cream, fruit smoothies, hot dogs, or fries/fried food larger portions. so i chose the easiest, a serving of ice cream sandwich. and calories of course are on it.

i walked a little but also sat a lot at the park, read some of my book but mostly just people-watched and pet some doggies.

The dentist was good. His assistant already took impressions of my teeth to be fitted for a night brace as well as a day brace to wear 1-2 hours per day to help add some presssure to move more jaw into a better place to prevent it locking. only will wear the "day brace" up to like 6 months he said; and night brace for longer.  each appt for 15 min is 150 bucks going forward, if you see him longer, it's like $250! ouch! those are the prices going forward. Today was $300 initial appt and 1400 for the nightbrace (no extra for the day brace for an hour per day).  Need to take off in two weeks from work - have to go back to him to pick up applicances, be fitted exactly!

Will put in most of my hours in the sun today, for exercise "hours in sun," although i didn't walk for all of it at all, but because it was hot and i tried i will add in a good amount, 3 hours, i sat a lot at the park, and would have walked more but ankle/leg were getting tired especialyl bc i walked a lot yesterday at beach. :) so today was more good cardio.

my jaw, right side only is the issue, cannot even open all the way now. so glad the appointment to assess the issue is today.

Made a TMJ disorder dental appt with a specialist for 12pm, located in Manhattan, will Definitely take public trans (as added exercise, and not having to pay for any parking spots or bridge tolls!).

The cost of even a consultation, since my insurance doesn't cover, is $300.I have decided not to look for another less costly specialist; and to go to him as he was refered to me, and fix the problem as best as possible now. Yes, expensive. But i can use my union card to cover the payment with money that is deducted each week from my check, only for medical appts. So, it's not a loss from my regular bank checking account, at least.

after dentist, my plan is to explore a nearby park that is close to where the dental appt is, so my trip into the city is not just for a dental visit, but to enjoy the day as it's a "vacation day."  I will come up with which park i will visit on Thursday the day before..

bearcountrygg on 07/17/2021:
Good progress with the dr.....I love Central park...we took a carriage ride into the park when we were there....Always a great vacay when there.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
yes, they still have those carriage rides...although i wasn't in the part of the park where they are all lined up yesterday.

so beautiful to see them! I'm glad you enjoyed the park too.

Donkey on 07/17/2021:
What a great day! Well, except for maybe the snacky foods, but hey, sometimes you need to mix it up, and like you said, you just weren't in the mood for vegetables.

I would suggest that when you are done with your day splint, that you keep it handy in case you should start to feel the need to wear it again in the future. (What I'm envisioning is that if you have a stressful change in life - even a good one - you may find the tension returning). I'm glad to hear that they got started right away on making measurements and such. What input did the specialist have to say? (If you don't want to answer that, it's OK.)

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
i enjoyed the ice cream and all snacks while out...but felt i could have done better with my choices back at home. however, i had no cooked veggies ready and didn't want to cook once at home....i would have prefered veggies if i had them ready at home. AND, i hadn't done good planning to get them on the way home...AND, two places i had tried to go to - WERE CLOSED! they were both jewish, so, hence, it's shabbat. i could have ordered veggies from thai, but didn't plan it in time to do so...

it's ok. i stayed within calories generally...that is still most important to me when looking at one day in time. I will cook some veggies today :)

Donkey on 07/17/2021:
I see you are planning the farm on Sunday - will you be taking Monday off too? Just curious :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
i'll write on the above later but this question is easier ;)

no, no Monday off because i had these many days off. I'm planning to "lay low" today so that i'll be "rested" for Sunday and therefore can go into Monday feeling "ok!"

If i had a family, i'd always be running around....

so it's more "Monday off" for when it's a regular weekend...

However, it could have been a good "Monday off," to study this time around....but i took enough days off in one shot and will save them for next time :)

Horn_of_plenty on 07/17/2021:
the dentist def knew what he was doing and spends almost no time wasted in the consultation. but he was thorough just efficient. he explained the 3 reasons....to answer your question above i'll keep writing here:

basically, the 3 reasons are similar and it's that the back neck of the mandible is getting stuck going around the cartilage in the area where it should usually glide around, it's getting stuck because either the bone is slightly longer; or the jaw is out of place, etc. (i forget the last reason). but by moving my jaw slightly forward, he showed me that it helped me open my mouth more.

i told him i really like to chew my food, i'm not a shake person...and that i like some dried jackfruit and other things that are harder to chew....

he said "GOOD!" surprisingly, chewing helps and doesn't hurt my condition!

basically, my jaw needs to be "retrained" to set itself at a better placement so that it doesn't get stuck.

he had an anatomic piece to show me of the jaw bones, and described what he was saying.

he is thorough and efficient and QUICK.

he actually charges on price going forward for 15 min appt...and if you go over, it's $100 MORE. (150 for 15 min, 250 for more). so you do not want to waste this man's time.

he doesn't make you feel like he's rushing you. and he's good. so i'm happy. the idea is to get this fixed.

good advice to keep it handy for future.

Hope you had a good day at the beach.

horn_of_plenty on 07/15/2021:
It worked out wonderfully with lots of walking thank you !!

happy-1 on 07/15/2021:
Do you have FSA through work? Dental is paid for through that.

horn_of_plenty on 07/16/2021:
I paid using my health reimbursement card which is funds set aside only for medical. Glad the card went thru and that I didn’t have to use a credit card and put in for reimbursement later ! Better not to have to pay it off and have it taken straight thru my account.

I paid $1700 today !!! $300 for consultation and $1400 for nightbrace / hour daytime applicable combo ! Omg !

Donkey on 07/16/2021:
Oh sounds like a lovely day with the parents! Sounds like your time off is serving you well.

You know, I just realized that I got my mouth guard from my dentist (at the time). Also, my current dentist makes mouth guards. BUT it does sound like your case is farther along than where I was when I got my guard, so you may need to see a specialist. I had jaw and neck pain/tension, but the real reason was because I was wearing away the enamel in my back teeth from grinding. I guess I'm more shocked by the $300 consultation fee! I mean, I saw the fee, but didn't realize that it was for the consultation only.

Well, as I mentioned to you previously, your mouth guard will be worth every penny spent. You cannot continue with jaw pain, and your teeth will eventually suffer.

Enjoy the park today, after the consult. You are getting lots of sunshine hours!

 10.50 July Sunshine Hours.

Lookahead Dates: Last TOM - 6/30...

  • Business Law - Sesson 5 - 8/23/21 thru 10/8/21; then break from studies.

Current Accounting 1 Progress: trying to finish course by Aug 9th, or i'll be billed yet another month.

  • Topic 8 - Chapter 9 - Accounting for Receivables -  completed.
  • Topic 9 - Chapter 6 - Inventory Valuation - in progress...almost halfway thru...
  • Topic 10 - Chapter 10 - Acquisition of Property, Plant, Equipment

Exam 3 - trying for this weekend, ending July 18.

I had time so i was going back in my journal entries today, 7/14.  Very interestingly, i had many years of stable weights where it was mostly maintenance. for instance, i was basically 125lbs from turning 30 until I was 35. The reason i finally dropped the last 9-10 lbs in 2016 was for my sister's wedding. And surprisingly, i was able to mostly totally maintain it all off, maintaining 115lbs since Mid-2016. And, only last year in 2020 did i drop to around 113 lbs last summer, it was a steady couple pounds loss (meaning my avg weights were always under 115 for sure and more around 113).

Then, as summer progressed last year of 2020; and I stayed out of work; and then went back to work and had a nice commute with lots of walking i could add in...and then the steady somewhat frustrating work stresses in terms of people interractions and getting used to the early wakeups, I have begun in JUST THIS YEAR, to maintain around 110lbs. So, it is still pretty new.

so, as you see, it has taken me a long time to move from maintenance of weight to a new weight maintenance.

the longer i have taken to lose weight, the easier it has been to maintain it. :)

it's sorta a little stressful to realize i have only been at my current weight for like 1/2 year and that it's still new to me - meaning i could easily gain it if i am not careful or pay attention to any creeping up.

So far, i have been able to maintain more easily than in the past.

Looking thru my entries from my early 30's till now, i see a pattern of good eats. more veggies. and many similar items i have had in my early 30's still till now. it shows many things have worked.

thought you all miight find interest in this.

and to lose the weight finally from being in the 130's until i got to 125 took several years also. it took me around 4 years to lose around 10-15lbs also from high 130s to 125 (from around the age of 26 to 29) those were harder. i had to lessen my binging habit and get back into the gym. i had to make a lot more changes then.

Thurs 7/15/21 Vacation Day 4

Beach with parents, dinner with them. Full day plans, so anything i want to do needs to be done outside of today..

Fri 7/16/21 Vacation Day 5 - TMJ Dental Specialist

my jaw, right side only is the issue, cannot even open all the way now. so glad the appointment to assess the issue is today.

So, it's not a loss from my regular bank checking account, at least.

after dentist, my plan is to explore a nearby park that is close to where the dental appt is, so my trip into the city is not just for a dental visit, but to enjoy the day as it's a "vacation day."  I will come up with which park i will visit on Thursday the day before..

 cooking - stewed yellow zucchini....

They say the slower it comes off the better...I would say that is working for you...good job!

Horn_of_plenty on 07/14/2021:
yes, it was SO HARD for me at the beginning! thank you. as the years and time goes by as well as more experience with what it takes to maintain, i have gotten a bit better at it.

i hope to be able to work on my weight thru all life circumstances. it's my goals to be happy with my weight always. i know life can get in the way sometimes, but i hope it's something i can maintain for life with only slight variable in my weight.

Jacky82020 on 07/14/2021:
That’s interesting, but I do things a lot differently., lost ~1 pd week, so ~25 in ~6 month. If I’m going to suffer, might as well get it over fast! LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 07/14/2021:
totally understand. i have had experiences in the past where i did it faster.

when i was in my junior year of college, i lost all my weight from upper 130's to under 110 in ONE YEAR. Lost my period for years. prob hurt myself a lot with that. my body couldn't get used to the weight loss that fast.

that was the first time i lost weight.

the second time i did it in increments. losing 10,then lots of maintenance, then 5 more...then maintenance. i had to get used to eating to have the weightloss last. i am still learning. this is what works for me, i do not like drastic changes.

Jacky82020 on 07/14/2021:
Whatever works! For me a pound a week is good. I’d have to starve myself to lose more. The PCP said don’t lose more than 2 a week. As if I could.

horn_of_plenty on 07/15/2021:
Makes sense !

Donkey on 07/15/2021:
Sounds like you had a good day off! And you still have 2 more days off plus the weekend!

I hope you have an enjoyable day at the beach!

That's very interesting to read about your weight loss journey. I agree that the longer it takes, the more likely it will stay off. And the longer journey helps avoid sagging skin. As we get older, the skin isn't as adaptable, unfortunately. Sounds like you're very content at this lower weight.

I will be very happy for you when you are done with accounting. It sounds like this chapter is uninspired (lol).

horn_of_plenty on 07/15/2021:
Super thankful for time away from work, yes!

You are so right about the skin. Believe it or not, I think I had a little little bit extra skin too, around my abdomen. Someone I follow on Instagram, I can send you photos another time soon, around my age slightly younger lost around 100 pounds and she is very fit exercises a lot…:she had the 360 tummy tuck and her abs are flat - if I had money and was rich it would be cool to do - lol - I shall not ever ever be getting those - I’m pretty happy with myself - just saying you prob have some extra skin too. But we do what we can !!!

Donkey on 07/15/2021:
Am I interpreting correctly that you consider the farm on Sundays to be very therapeutic? Hence, taking Mondays off?

horn_of_plenty on 07/15/2021:
Yes and awesome exercise there. It’s great yes. Plus some free veggies are like a cherry on top of the day - it’s not guaranteed but usually works out and they are organic and which I never buy for cost savings so it’s nice !!!

Oh the reason I would take Mondays off is Sundays at farm can be a physical challenge leaving me pretty tired to do much more the rest of the day and leaves me very tired sometimes on Monday …. So I would take the Monday off knowing I could really enjoy Sunday without the challenge of an early wake up the next day….and it’s easier to take a Monday def than a Tuesday to go to farm - you know, just extending the weekend is more simple…. Just trying to make life balanced :) with adding in exercise etc. when I finish the business law I think I’ll be concentrating on reading in general for pleasure possibly and doing more - a little more - cardio bc it’s been very low these days with driving so I should try do better for myself and relax in winter without courses

happy-1 on 07/15/2021:
It’s a million micro habits to maintain weight loss, for sure

horn_of_plenty on 07/16/2021:
Totally well said right there ! Touché
