11/28 Sunday -

2am? couldn't sleep in middle of night and had sort of an appetite, so had some tastes of the small serving of key lime pie i took home from renee (just a sliver, not a full or even half slice). 100. then, i had some of the pumpkin pie slice she gave me, included in calories below. i knew i had low calories the day before and decided to grab something sweet and go back to sleep, which is what i did...

8:30-9:30am breakfast: the rest of the pumpkin pie 400, coffee 30, banana 120, low sugar gummy bears 150...

1pm snack twix bar 100

3pm afternoon meal i picked up after running errands to bring home: taco bell beef chalupa with extra lettuce, tomatoes added a couple packets hot sauce : 450 approx, will also have a bag of dried jackfruit 100.

1450...

Mp other plan is to do some cooking today - ....yes....lots of veggies will be cooked/prepped..i bought pre-spiralized butternut squash so need to sautee it before it goes bad as it goes quickly...and i have a lot more veggies at home that i want to prep so i have choices / ample veggies at home all week. i want to try a week without takeout!? :)

Happy Chanukah!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
thank you bear :) I will say the blessings to get into the spirit and as a challenge to myself to do something besides the normal night.

i could go to a neigborhood tree lighting, but i'm uninterested and would rather cook/clean the guinea pig cages and get ready for the week ahead! :)

Donkey on 11/28/2021:
Happy Hanukkah!!!

I'm glad that your friend was able to help you order a cake. I would have done the same thing.

I'm sorry that you didn't sleep so well. :-( Perhaps use today to reset, after the holiday. What a wonderful, peaceful way to end the weekend by lighting the menorah candle.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
i was happy not to have to do the "cake call / research" on my own and yes i appreciated my friend and her hubby's advice.

in the end, i wrote this as a joke on the cake (well, had the bakery write it): Happy Birthday, Young Man!? as a joke, he's turning 56. (which isn't old, but it's not young!) we joke a lot on bdays, we range in age at my workplace. besides the 24yo, we range from approx 40(well, i'm 39) thru 60. it's like an even spread all throughout...

here's the approx list: 24 admin 39 admin 44 admin 46 48 50 low 50s 56 57 60 61 :)

it's a nice range. so it feels very comfortable bc of this spread. everyone gets along well.

interestingly, the project executive, highest boss, is the one who is 50! he is boss over everyone...except for the 60yo. the 60yo is sorta a boss of the electricians in the field.

all 3 admin assistants are female, everyone else is male and with a more challeninging job description ! it's very old school like that, in our trailer. just the way it happened to work out.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
I have to reread your other comment with the advice below about the website...but i am in agreement not to force it at all...and that it can most probably wait...yeah ;)

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
yeah, she's a very outgoing friend, Renee with the 7mo baby. we are the same age, 39, so she has lots of life experience pre-baby and always has good ideas, advice, support, and a good friend to have. a few years back in 2016, i went with her for her bachelorette to Texas. another friend came also.

happy-1 on 11/28/2021:
Happy Hanukkah!!!! Hugs!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
YOU REMEMBERED!!!!!!!

Jacky82020 on 11/28/2021:
Hah! I remember well my 2AM key lime frenzy! 500 cal for a tiny slice!

Been good last few days on desserts. 4 chocolate rice cakes topped with sugar free blackberry jam.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2021:
that sounds delish. i used to love sf jams, now i always have a bad rap on them in my head as i do not like the splenda sugar alternative near as much as my stevia...i think i'm spoiled by stevia! ha.

this key lime was surprisingly pretty "low cal" each 1/4 of the pie was 400 cal for a decent sized piece. i think it was by trader joes.

11/27 Saturday -

breakfast: coffee and banana 150, cornbread 200...350

snacks: 2 snack size candies, one butterfinger, one twix 200...holding out for late lunch at renee's lots of veggies, too.

snack with renee tortilla chips and carrots with salsa 200,

2pm or so late lunch (i forgot really what time!) roasted red peppers (i seasoned them and brought them to renee to cook there) 100, taste of kiche (think i'm spelling it wrong) that renee made 50, drumstick meat large one 150, salad with balsamic dressing 150, a dbl stuff pb oreo that my friend gave me to try as we were talking about oreos haha...tea.500-550 excellent.

8pm dinner back when i got home - tastes of my supermarket splurge on all kinds of snacks: kale chips that actually aren't good but i will finish as they are very healthy and not that bad to throw away 150, crackers that look like cheeze its but made with first ingredient butternut squash 2 servings 200, layogurt mango yogurt 150

1750....

30 min walk with renee in the cold! she is awesome. we walked after the sun had set from aroudn 5:30-6pm in 38F weather.! nice friend. i had made sure she really wanted to go....her hubby stayed home with their 7mo baby and we walked around the block a few times :)

Yesterday - quiet, mostly on couch.  a very long rest day. went out to supermarket for a little shopping, but most of the day was just chilled on the couch which i don't regret but that's what it was. i did get in some reading on the book above, so that's good.  i started to eat high in calories but then settled into a more relaxed state come the late afternoon. old habits die hard!...laziness/no plans...pushing into the unmotiavated state...but i'm back today!!! :) back to reality feels good to see my friends later!

Weights Saturday morning - IN PROGRESS! :) was nice to take a day off from it this week.

Leave apt around 11:50-12 to get to friends at 12:30ish...  see renee, her hubby eric and baby Andrew Sebastian :)... if nice weather, we will go for a walk / bbq :) also someone named erica, her bf and her son will be going...not sure if anyone else....we will prob not have time to walk, so if not, i'll go on my stationary bike tonight

CALL LuLu's BAKERY while at Renee's house as i do not want to do it earlier as i'm involved in some other things at home earlier now and i do not want more delays on what i'm doing (exercise, laundry, preparing some veggies to bring to renee to be roasted but prepping at home, did a fast cranberry sauce, then the microwave breaker shut and i had to call housing but that was a fast fix :)) - to ask about cakes and which is best to get for bday for Monday....must get this right for Monday at work...have renee help me decide on the cake!!!...done! got the "amore" cake ...it has rum in it! :)

and def planning to catch up with everyone here soon, yesterday was NOT the day for it, sorry.!! (sometimes i am just not in the right mindframe).

supermarket again on Long Island for MORE veggies/fruit...the inexpensive and deals place by Rennee! and seltzer....done, was a splurge bc this particular supermarket is full of snacks and interesting foods that aren't in regular markets...lots of snacks.

get gas on long island :) done! :)

upper only done. legs tonight.

tonight, without question: find a card at home (got a thousand, one of them should be sufficient as a congrats/success type!), write card and mail card for Rachel....something online my friends are doing...and that i cannot forget to do...must go into mail today!

did my weekly laundry this AM, so it's out of the way.  :-D

11/28 Sunday - (1st night Chanukah tonight, email myself the hebrew prayer (a lot of people know it by heart as it's very similar to all the prayers which are about a sentence long in hebrew language, but i always forget the end of the prayer bc i don't say it every year and do not say prayers much during the year so i need to print it to make sure i do not mess it up accidentally) to print at work and also the english version of prayer) -

Do legs exercises in am...before going to bakery.

GO TO LuLu's BAKERY....10am

1 helium balloon for Jay....

I think my plan is to do some cooking today?....yes....lots of veggies will be cooked...to announce what i make later...

Happy Hanukkah!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2021:
ohhh ty...it will begin tomorrow night...you def did NOT forget Happy!

Donkey on 11/27/2021:
Good for you for slowing down the eating! I know where you're coming from, with an unstructured & unmotivated day --- we tend to start grazing, which can be fine but can also lead to bad choices. If I recall, it actually ended up being a lower calorie day for you? Anyway, recognizing the behavior (in time) AND changing the behavior - BOOM! That's what it's about! WOOT!

If I may make an observation and suggestion: I've noticed that you've kind of put off reading the changes on the courts website. Why not save this for Christmas (Eve)? I presume that you will get a day off of work for the Christmas holiday, and since it's not really a holiday that you observe in a religious way, why not use that day to read up and set yourself up for the new year, whatever that may bring.

Perhaps you are procrastinating because it represents a potential big change. (I do this, so I'm offering this from my biased perspective.) Remember, it's only reading and learning. Even if it may be discouraging (or encouraging), once you've read and reviewed the website, you'll be better equipped with the information to make decision(s) down the road. Once you've visited the website, it's a completed task, and you can go on with your day. Perhaps plan to go for a walk afterwards, treat yourself to some coffee (e.g. Starbucks, but I'm sure you have better around you).

Anyway, just putting that out there. I could be completely wrong, coming from the opposite end of the universe on this one, LOL.

I hope you enjoy your visit with friends!!! That's what the holidays are about :-)

Jacky82020 on 11/27/2021:
Why do you have to read about court changes? Job search?

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2021:
yes, future job application / tests...

Donkey on 11/27/2021:
Sounds like you had a really nice outing with your friend. I like a gal who is not afraid to walk in the colder weather :-) And the food sounds so delicious! It's great that you were able to keep the calories on the lower side, but that's the power of vegetables for sure - YUM!

Looks like it was a very productive trip as well, since you could go grocery shopping and get gas for the car - you're all set for this upcoming week.

I did upper body weights today too :-)

Donkey on 11/27/2021:
PS Answered your comment on my Friday diary. :-)

Hand-sew my ripped pillow case during the long Thanksgiving break...

11/26/21 Friday, Continued Holiday....i am not sure how i will spend today...i think i may drive myself to a new (but local-ish) park...there are some park hikes as listed on a website for NYC Parks and i may just look into and join one...on the drive back, i may go to Bath and Body Works to buy around 3 3-wick candles as they are good gifts and/or to keep myself 1 or two of them. big sale, always, on Black Friday at Bath and body works on those candles, listed over 50% off.....

I slept in until almost 9am...prob around 11hrs sleep which is typical for me after a short or long workweek it seems. i don't mind. it means i can get up and eat more of what i want without needing a snack between breakfast and lunch. yes, i always think about that on the weekend.

will write more later, going to read a little...read up on the courts website would be smart too...

Weights today for sure....

maybe a quick phone call and walk to the tailor/cleaners to fix my fleece and my pillowcase...but first check if it's even open today...

4:30-5:15pm blueberries and another pack dried jackfruit 200, Hershey's special dark choc x2 100

Dinner Tbd ??: just realized i'm out of veggies...aside from what's in freezer or a few fresh peppers...do i do takeout?i cook something or go to supermarket? maybe i'll do my canned soup finally!!!- def planning on heating up a split pea soup with crackers or corn bread

Dinner - half the can of split pea with ham soup 150, one cornbread 200 - 350

1700....I did want to eat and eat today but somehow got thru with the veggies from mom and the soup tonight, there was some health to my eating today ..! I was pretty lazy yesterday and today but will do my workout tonight - upper body and get back on track a bit as the weekend progresses - reminding myself I still have a whole weekend ahead of me :-)

mom invited me to come back over for dinner but i'm thinking just to stay local by me and do the little things around here that need some doing...

11/27 Saturday - Leave apt around 10 to get to friends at noon:  see renee, her hubby eric and baby Andrew Sebastian :)... if nice weather, we will go for a walk / bbq :)

Sounds like a really good deal on the candles....I forget to light candles these days.......

Horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2021:
i might go, i might not! there will be a long line there because everybody loves this 1x a year deal! :) have nice day, Bear!

Donkey on 11/26/2021:
I received a few really good coupons for Bath & Body Works, but that store is completely out of my comfort zone. It would have to be a deliberate effort to go. I offered the coupons to my daughter, but she hasn't used them yet. I think I will save them to use soon when I want a fun, indulgent, "something new" outing for myself :-)

I realized from reading yesterday's entry that you had pie for your mother's birthday and cake for Thanksgiving -- kind of the reverse of what many folks too, but hey, nobody's going to say bad things about chocolate cake, right?

Enjoy your day off -- you and me both :-)

happy-1 on 11/27/2021:
Bath and Bodyworks sounds amazing!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2021:
i skipped it....haha, i have enough candles to skip this year! haha, savings!!!! :) LOL.

i do have a coupon for a free lotion, may use it tomorrow tho!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO THOSE CELEBRATING!

 27.75 November Sunshine Hours

Last TOM - 11/17/21....

Waiting To Do -  read courts changes to their website...reminder to do - END of November, during Thanksgiving weekend.

Currently reading NYPL digital book called....."Can't Let Go," By Barbara Freethy romance novel, seems ok - nothing special just yet. lol.

See about price of fixing the zipper on fleece...possibly at the boot shop before checking out the tailor. Otherwise, throw it out...

Hand-sew my ripped pillow case during the long Thanksgiving break...

my weight is pretty stablized since i adjusted it a couple months ago on here. i was the weight posted prob 2 months earlier, but, i didn't want to change it unless i really knew i could keep it lower because otherwise i felt it was going to be a burden to force myself to do something that i couldn't "naturally" do without too much continued effort. so things are good on that. and weirdly enough, i do not even feel so skinny and don't look it either. seems the weight is very proportioned. not even my face looks skinny. i guess my body is used to it. sometimes it takes work though, and i def pay attention to what i eat or i'd eat more calories than i have been.

yesterday's edit i did end up getting out really early from work yesterday at around 2pm instead of 3:30pm, and walked an extra hour on top of my regular commuting, i believe. walked thru some poorer areas of nyc, but very similiar to my starting place by where i work. basically all similar surroundings. what i did was, i basically walked thru the park a little by work and then walked to Broadway as Broadway (yes the same broadway as near Times Square but northern Manhattan not near the Theatre District), as Broadway follows a subway route so i knew i could get on the Subway whenever i felt like it...so i took Broadway going further up north until i decided i was good with the walk and ready to go home!...I walked thru like 3 diff neighborhoods and came upon an interesting looking subway station, that i had to search for on my maps app and was lucky it was a few blocks away - bc the Broadway line seemed to have ended a few blocks back... and i went home. It was good to just do something different. my dad of course told me i shouldn't walk around there, but, honestly, i have to take that with a grain of salt bc it if were up to him, i wouldn't take any risks...and then my routine just would be that....very routine. :)

11/25/21 Thurs, Thanksgiving - Mom said to come over after lunch. So, since I had quite a nice excursion last night, today i've slept in, rested on couch and will go to parents after lunch with a bunch of little gifts and flowers I picked up on my way home, close to home, before getting on the bus where i guy sells flowers at the exit of the last subway station i use getting home. $5 a small buch of 5 roses; i buy two when getting them for others; so it's a nice bouquet to bring home to my family :)

Small snack around 7:30am before cleaning a little and heading back to bed - 2 chocolates 100

Breakfast: 2 packets strawberries and cream oatmeal 220, with almond miilk 30, coffee 50.

Lunch: salami 2.5 servings. tasty. 300. might have some pretzels or carbs soon...yep, few plantain chips 100.

chips 50 to hold me over, sips of moms wine negligible

Snacks / Thanksgiving dinner, thankful for any veggies my mom will prepare...

3 servings brussel sprouts 200, serving pan fried green beans 150, kasha and bow ties 200, meat 300...850 tops

small chocolate cake 200? Lots of cranberry and pear sauce 350
2250....

hope to come home tonight and be ready to read a little and/or search for a free walk/tour nearby to do tomorrow, maybe. if not, i'll do my own walk / small food shopping for fruit/veggies.

If i do not do a hike, I will start the day with weights...and may actually do both weights and the hike, not entirely sure :) will decide Thursday night!

11/27 Saturday - Leave apt around 10 to get to friends at noon:  see renee, her hubby eric and baby Andrew Sebastian :)... if nice weather, we will go for a walk / bbq :)

Horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2021:
omg, thank you for reminding me to bring the baby's gifts (pants and shirt) i bought him! and card! i almost forgot!!! :) Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Jacky82020 on 11/25/2021:
Have a nice Holiday with friends & fam!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2021:
Thank you!

Donkey on 11/25/2021:
Happy Thanksgiving! And your plans for tomorrow sound lovely! I enjoyed reading about yesterday's walking adventure, too!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2021:
it was nice to get the walk in, i realized i could only do it because i don't have kids or family...idk, it was great to get the exercise in.

coffee&calories on 11/25/2021:
It’s really interesting to read about adjusting to a new lower weight. Did you go down in size? Also, do family members or friends comment on your weight loss at all, or say you’re too tiny etc? In the past when my family would comment it always made me so uncomfortable.

coffee&calories on 11/26/2021:
I’m also wondering this…to go down to your new lower weight, did you noticeably or consciously decrease your calories, and by how much? Or was it just a natural progression of lowering weight by continuing to eat the way you were eating.

happy-1 on 11/26/2021:
This sounds like a Hallmark holiday movie right before the “cute meet”.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2021:
i don't understand your comment, help me out and provide further explanation, Happy :)....

Hand-sew my ripped pillow case during the long Thanksgiving break...

yesterday's edit i did end up getting out really early from work yesterday at around 2pm instead of 3:30pm, and walked an extra hour on top of my regular commuting, i believe. walked thru some poorer areas  of nyc, but very similiar to my starting place by where i work. basically all similar surroundings. walked thru like 3 diff neighborhoods and came upon an interesting looking subway station that i took home. was good to just do something different. my dad of course told me i shouldn't walk around there, but, honestly, i have to take that with a grain of salt bc it if were up to him, i wouldn't take any risks...and then my routine just would be that....very routine. :)

11/24 Wednesday! ("Friday this week!") - public trans!!!, added an hour to my sunshine time. i may push to do extra walking later and/or do leg exercises at the park by work before i go home, just to get the leg routine in before i am too tired after commuting tonight once i'm home. So, yeah, my def plan is to do leg exercises directly after work, at the park over here.

Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, 2 small Italian tricolor cookies 150 approx. 300 approx.

Snacks: wrap 100, cream cheese 100, lox 50 250

Lunch: thick pizza grandma-type slice it's called 600 at least, but i brought a salad to go with it 100 with seasonings to fill up. and had a coffee black after. 700-800

1350...

Snacks: black sweetened (stevia always) coffee

Dinner: leftovers from yesterday, i will push myself to have the other sweet potato half as it's so healthy...now it's Thursday the next day and i sorta forgot what i did & didn't eat last night...it was the rest of the sweet potato with leftover wild mushroom salad on top 150 tops, leftover other salad no dressing negl, 2 bags of recently delivered dried fruit - low cal jackfruit 200, also i had a couple chocolates 100. i think that's it. i had a dream or something that i had nut butter, but i do not think i did?

1800 i think!

if i leave work early, then i will go directly home, i think, and do legs at home later...maybe sit on bike later..but, we'll see...this company hasnt' gotten out early yet for holidays so i doubt it....just a thought in my mind that popped up!

11/25/21 Thurs, Thanksgiving - With family today, plans TBD.

11/26/21 Friday, Continued Holiday....i am not sure how i will spend today...i think i may drive myself to a new (but local-ish) park...

11/27 Saturday - Leave apt around 10 to get to friends at noon:  see renee, her hubby eric and baby Andrew Sebastian :)... if nice weather, we will go for a walk / bbq :)

11/28 Sunday - (1st night Chanukah)

11/29 Monday (1st night Chanukah last night, light menorah 1st candle as soon as i get to work)

Light 2nd light of the menorah at end of workday, before going home).

11/30 Tuesday:

Light 3rd candle, end of workday

12/1/21 WEDNESDAY....DECEMBER!

Light 4th candle, end of workday

12/2/21 Thursday

Light 5th candle, end of workday

12/3 Friday - Bring menorah home to have it at my apt, since i only have 1 electric one and no other, light 6th candle tonight (but may just leave it at work for ease...will decide closer to this date).

12/4 Saturday, Light 7th candle tonight

12/5 Sunday - Light 8th Candle tonight (complete) but then prepare it to bring back to work Monday...(might just leave menorah at work, haven't decided).

12/6 Monday - Set up menorah again at work, fully lit.

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only -2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 11/24/2021:
Now wouldn't it be something if Barbara Freethy was fake DD Jacky, lol!

Good for you for taking public transit and getting in some walking! Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get your leg exercises in today. You may just want to get home ASAP. I know I wouldn't stay late at work to do my push-ups today, that's for sure!

horn_of_plenty on 11/24/2021:
....the good thing about staying late is that i will not be delayed by most traffic since my commute is mostly by train...which is a good reason to just do the leg exercises...and knowing that tomorrow i may choose to skip all exercises purposely since it's a day with family...so i'm trying to push myself to do what i can before i take a full day off, most probably, tomorrow...

Happy pre-thanksgiving to you....

right, i can see Jacky writing this book....but so far i'm not impressed by Barbara's vocabulary / descriptive ability. i think jacky could do better LOL. her writing sounds a little juvenile compared to the other things i've read recently!

horn_of_plenty on 11/24/2021:
and it's actually on a NY Times Bestseller list...this book!

Maria7 on 11/24/2021:
Hope you have a good day, HOP!

horn_of_plenty on 11/24/2021:
oh, thank you!, you too!

Jacky82020 on 11/24/2021:
LOL! Been a long time since I read or wrote a romance novel. Never a fan, only read nonfiction. But some writers dummy down their prose & some writers are just plain dumb.

I had a lot of fun in NYC, Manhattan, when there was a big conference for Harlequin Romance writers. Mostly because I ditched their lame events & explored on my own. It was my first visit to the Big Apple

Horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2021:
haha, yes, i had once went to a conference, and tried to get out of it and go explore, but one of the good women with me didn't want to break the rules...i'm prob lucky for that.

bearcountrygg on 11/24/2021:
Clementines and sweet potatoes.......on my menu this week too....lots of goodness there.

horn_of_plenty on 11/24/2021:
so good.!!!

happy-1 on 11/24/2021:
I haven’t read a romance novel since I started dating and real life did not live up to the novels in any way shape or form.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2021:
agreed. they are def fantasy and more dramatic / interesting lol.

Jacky82020 on 11/23/2021:
LOL! I was going to ask you how long the library lets you keep books because it seems like you’ve had that one for ages. Brooklyn Library allows 3 weeks on my ebooks & then does an auto grab. No renewals, but one can check it out again unless there’s a waitlist. I can’t read more than a few chapters of half the books, all nonfiction & often well reviewed, so back they go in a few days.

horn_of_plenty on 11/23/2021:
i think only two weeks for the ebooks and then it grabs it back automatically. i had to keep downloading/borrowing it a few times lol bc i took so many breaks while reading it.

bearcountrygg on 11/23/2021:
Sounds like the end of the book was a summary!!

horn_of_plenty on 11/23/2021:
OMG. it was exactly a summary.

bearcountrygg on 11/23/2021:
Over the years I have changed the way I read.....I used to force myself to finish a book rather I enjoyed it or not.......I came to realize that if I love the book ,,,then nothing will stop me from reading it cover to cover quickly. I still find books in my bookcase that have bookmarks in them.....a sure sign that it was boring.

horn_of_plenty on 11/23/2021:
i agree...i used to have the same mindset and most books i choose are bc they are well known or on top selling lists or some list somewhere. but there's even 1-2 books only that i haven't finished (in my adult life)....honestly, i hope to expand that number a little as it's a good thing to be able to say "this book isn't good, i don't have to finish it!!!"

happy-1 on 11/23/2021:
Shoot! How did I miss that Sunday is the start of Hanukkah? UGH!

 Q&A TIME:

Q: coffee&cals asked a question: "if i ever have felt a sense of panic if i was at, say, 1200cal already by lunchtime."

A: Definitely, I have had those feelings in the past. when i was struggling, I had days where i'd eat that much also, say, at breakfast or quickly thru before lunchtime. And yes, I did feel the panic. Many times with the panic, i would be able to wait out eating again for awhile but i was still reinforcing the binge/restrict cycle.  Ever since I have added more carbs into my diet especially, the issue with eating "too much" (1200 cal or however much we feel is too much), has been decreased.  I have always had noticeable blood sugar issues, even as a kid i'd get a little shaky in high school on weekends after a long 3 hour band rehearsal i had for years...it would have been better had a brought a little snack for the break during that rehearsal....anyways, back to your question, i suggest not waiting till ravenous to eat in the mornings, to have food with coffee so it doesn't leave you jittery and, if wanting carbs, to have a little of them because it will level up your blood sugar. also, protein/fat added to breakfast will prevent a big spike later. but, if you only had a little carbs and not a heaping amount, it's not going to cause a huge dip...and you can have a snack a couple hours later to even yourself out again...

back again to the question, i am sorta in a place where i know my stress levels and kinda know how my weekends going to be; and have a pretty set lifestyle where mornings are typical and not really breaking any patterns usually...so i am able to prevent this type of binging in the AM pretty much. For instance, workday mornings i bring things to eat at work, so i'm set and do not have urges to binge bc i have the little snacks i need to keep me on track....and on weekends, i am able to sleep in and enjoy more carby breakfasts right now that i like and make me feel ok and since i'm eating them late in the morning, i can eat somethng else once i need to....i have laid back mornings on the weekends, so any anxiety is pretty low and i do not need or feel a sense of urgency to stuff myself that way anymore.

I have a lot of foods and things i do to help me. I make sure that when i bring my food usually to the couch to eat, that i bring a cup of coffee too. I also try to get some nutrition...for instancei'm big on bananas. in the past i didn'teat them, bc they are "high carb," but they are also really filling to have (volume-wise they are quite filling) especially in addition to another small carb item with or without pb or an egg if you want protein. add a cup of low cal coffee and it's imposible not to feel pretty full volume-wise especially if i take my time eating which i do especially on weekends, but even at work, the volume of what i'm eating with the coffee fills my stomach. generally, a person;s stomach feels full with 2 cups of food in it....also, i sleep more than i have in the past. when i sleep more, the urge to binge diminshes fast...

a way to prevent the binging a bit is to try to develop a schedule and patterns that will help you stay on track...i think to establish a routine with breakfast...and know that eating it is going to help you...also make sure you are satisfied with breakfast and it fills your stomach.

11/22 Monday- Yes, took public transport today and added a solid hour of cardio/hours in sun to cover it!

I am bringing those Italian tri-color cookies to work, found them in a small-ish container at the supermarket. will have one or two as a treat also this AM...

I will get cardio in during transport, so plan is for an easy night; bed early again :)

Breakfast: banana for health and coffee 150, two small italian tri-color cookies with the raspberry jelly between colors150 tops as they are small bite sizes. 300.

balanced snack: lox 50 and cc 100 in a wrap 100...250.

11am - another rather small tricolor square, like 100cal, maybe less.

Balanced lunch: heating up basmati rice 150, with salami (7 slices boar's head packaged) on top 110, salad with olive oil and herbs 100-150, apple tiny 50. 500.

Dinner:leftover sauteed dandelion greens with some fried onion on top 200, cornbread 200, 2 choc chip cookies with brownie filling 150, chobani yogurt choc with orange marmalade taste at the bottom (VERY GOOD) 150. maybe some kombucha since i do not want tea. 50. 750. passion fruit beer, not the whole bottle 150

2000.

going to heat up an either campbell's or progresso split pea soup from canned soup :)..it has ham, i really prefered the texture of only a vegetarian one, but, it was on sale and i'm sure it's just fine. :)  most of the split pea soups actually had ham which i didn't realize would be like that at the supermarket.

Best insight I've read about binge-eating behavior. Thank you for taking the time to write this thoughtful answer.

Good for you for taking public transportation! I know it's not for every day, but on the days that you take it, you get more sunshine (theoretically, anyway) and walking. Yay!!!

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
I wonder if i'll have the creativity / time to one day write a biography on bingeing. not now.

i almost didn't take transport - was thinking i'd just hop on my bike and drive (but oh, the waste of tolls/gas!). and i got to work so early, i did an extra 20 min walk before going straight into work!

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
i meant the clock was ticking, i thought in the end i wouldn't have time for public trans, so i thought i'd hop on my stationary bike, but it worked out well.

bearcountrygg on 11/22/2021:
I feel like bananas are a miracle food....it took me many years to come to that conclusion because I was allergic to them...but thankfully no more.....Good source of potassium plus the gut loves them......a great choice to start the day with.

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
yes, i find them also to be a "miracle food." they are so good for my digestion and potassium. i do feel very good about having them.

Maria7 on 11/22/2021:
I need to remember to buy some bananas when I go back to the store. I like to eat them and sometimes I make banana puddings with them, which are good.

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
i had a coworker who made a great banana pudding...with the nilla wafers :)

coffee&calories on 11/22/2021:
You have so much knowledge and insight. Few people have such long term success, statistically. You really are filled with so much experience and great advice. I think what sets you apart from so many people giving advice on the forums/apps/YouTube is that you truly walk the walk every single day and have found a way to not succumb to emotions/boredom/social pressure in regards to eating at all anymore. On that note, what would you do if you had a surprise dinner out to a restaurant that you didn’t plan for earlier in the day? Would you just accept a higher cal day and not worry about it? Sometimes that happens to me and restaurant meals are like minimum 1000 calories for barely anything! Causes me to throw in the towel…

coffee&calories on 11/22/2021:
And sorry, I forgot to say a big THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I know how much time it can take to formulate thoughts when you just live a certain way but don’t really think about exactly what you’re doing, you just do it. I recognize there is a lot of effort involved in answering these questions :)

Horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
no, it's not a lot LOT of effort...i just have to be in a relaxed mindset to answer these types of questions...like when doing any type of "homework," or doing something that is for someone else, it's just easier for me to do when i'm in a super relaxed mood lol...but it's not a lot of work at all to answer your questions...

coffee&calories on 11/22/2021:
I get what you mean. I’m like that too, easiest to write when i have the time and am feeling not-rushed so I can make my thoughts coherent :)

horn_of_plenty on 11/23/2021:
yes...so my thoughts are coherent is exactly what i meant!!!! xoxoxo ya, you get me completely!

i'll respond more to your comment above that i didn't answer yet later on!

9am breakfast banana and coffee 150, cornbread with jelly 250. 400.

snacking while on phone lemon berry flavor kombucha (i don't drink kombucha on the daily anymore). 50.

5pm dark chocolates, trying to get into the upper body exercise mood. i took today off from cardio. ...

DEF HAD TO WATCH CALORIES SINCE 4PM ON as lunch was a bit higher in cals than i thought...almost forgot i had two servings of salami...i am not sure if i'm sliding lately into binge mode more often, but will pay attention to it...

1600...

6pm reaching for the rest of the heavily oiled, healthy roasted brussel sprouts, 100...then sauteed dandelion greens 150 (craving the takeout / healthier foods & still need to do my upper body workout !) ok, feeling full now.

Donkey on 11/21/2021:
Sounds like you have a good day ahead of you today. I'm glad you had a nice outing yesterday - beautiful pictures!

I like your plans for Chanukah! We were talking about putting up the Christmas tree at work, and I was like, Ain't nobody got time for that! << which is very true and very sad.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
put up the tree if it's available ;) how long can it take? but you would know best!

Crystal our youngest admin asst in the trailer, 24, bought a used mini 3' tree off of facebook for $15 and also some ornaments and other decorations. she then complained of the prices of decorations this year and the executive (highest boss) of the trailer paid her for everything. LOL. she somehow gets away with this and eating all the food without ever contributing much....because she young and 24 ;) all is good. it's pretty funny though.

bearcountrygg on 11/21/2021:
I love those relaxing days.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
i did too. a little slow at times, but, still i found things to do...and now my Brita filter is both cleaned and changed :) fresh water :) i change it very rarely, every 3-4 months.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
*i do too.

Maria7 on 11/21/2021:
Really good advice, Hop. I remember many years ago when you used to have very high calories days and you simply 'rode it out' and I think that may have been during your high stress days ...at school?...where you worked?...(forgot)...but you got it all together and look at you now..cruising along every day and maintaining superbly!

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
ty maria...i'm glad to see you remembering my struggles with weight and food. it feels great to be in a much better place now. yeah, i was ending a certain job, going back to school, and my daily structure was out of whack and i actually stopped with scheduled exercise, etc, during the worst of it :) glad to be on the other side of the hump! :)

have a nice day. you maintain well, too. it's feels good to be content at where we are at!

happy-1 on 11/21/2021:
Love the qa section. Nice touch! More of that please!

Good job being gentle with yourself.

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2021:
ty Happy! :) I'm sure you can relate and good job getting back on track as of late!!!

it does feel good to treat oneself well! :)xoxo

ty!! :)

bearcountrygg on 11/20/2021:
Do you take the bridge or the boat to Staten Island?

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
oh good question! the ferries go between manhattan and staten island but coming from Queens it is way more convenient just to drive over the bridge. it actually takes two bridges both ways to take the most direct route. One is a rather short bridge in Brooklyn and was recently in the last few years replaced with a new one:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosciuszko_Bridge

The second bridge is the long, like 2.5 mi, Verrazano bridge which connects Brooklyn with Staten Island. The building of the Verrazano is what initially sparked so many people to move to Staten Island. It is generally cheaper to live in the borough of Staten Island, compared with the other 4 boroughs Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx. Well, Bronx is more convenient to get places, it doesn't need a long bridge like Staten Island... And also subway system is great for Bronx. Staten Island is very inconcenient to commute to!

Donkey on 11/20/2021:
Can't wait to read about your adventures today! I hope it's a good day!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
it was good, volunteered just like an hour, didn't see much garbage to pick up, decided to end early and enjoy some of the time to myself and do my own walk and rest on the rocks by myself.

Jacky82020 on 11/20/2021:
Happy BDay to the little boy!

Have fun volunteering.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:
ty!! :)

I didn't see tons of gargage to pick up and bc it was a large showing, i only did the work for an hour of the two allotted hours. i returned my bag of garbage, gloves and picker, and did some nice walking and exercised my legs outside...enjoyed the place to myself before driving to go back home :)...Best choice ever to end my volunteering early and enjoy the tranquility of the place i was at.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2021:

Donkey on 11/19/2021:
^I agree, breakfast sounds delicious and different. I hope you have a good day today! Next week is a short week (AMEN), and you'll have a fun outing this weekend.

Like you, though, I am READY to start the weekend ASAP.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2021:
re yesterday's dinner, it feels SO GOOD to walk into Arby's get what i want, feel no shame about it, know i'm eating just potato with lots of seasonings and oil, know i'm going to enjoy it...and no regrets because it fits right into my lifestyle, as it should (in my opinion). and it seemed to be on sale. 99 cents for a small, but they always give extra / overflow it. the container is like dbl the size of mcdonalds small fries.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2021:
AMEN to a short week.

Maria7 on 11/19/2021:
Takeout sounds like a winner! What are you thinking to order? Have a blessed day. Smiles.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2021:
Tomorrow I will order a lot of special prepared veggies and hope to post a photo of some of it. I may not get too much or I might to last many days. We’ll see what they have ! It’s a special place and has the best vegetables of any restaurant I have ever been to, ever!
