(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 114.0

8:30am pump brownie 250 and whipped cream (lower sugar ) 120, coffee 50 - after new year, i'm making a commitment to healthier eating...more fish...etc...but will enjoy my breakfasts however i like till i want to change.

10am snack: Atkins coconut bar choc covered 170, bite of rum chocolate 50

noon lunch: smaller, with a hot decaf green tea (love they have this free at work!)...my corned beef 200 cal? not too much but sooo good, small amount veggies 100, some crisps 150 450.

left work at 1pm to go to bris only 40 or so minutes away:

After the bris, there was food, around 3:30pm i think it was: 1/4 bagel 100, little whitefish salad 50, piece of smoked sable (better than lox, very soft white fish that is soo delicate and tasty!) 50, too much smoked salmon (not lox, but actual salmon) 200???, 2 tomato slices, seltzer. 400

5:30pm snack on bus home: coffee and fiber one peanut butter bar 200-250

6:30banana 100

after workout: cauliflower crust :) 300 loving these after exercise.

2200, perfecto.

4 day: 2210, good!

A lot of thoughts rolling in my head over the past couple weeks. Mostly unfortunately negative - Not about me though.  I want to write about them now - hopefully i can do that and not be late for work!  The experiences are what have been negative and i've been thinking about these experiences. However, about myself, i can honestly say i'm feeling pretty positive and proactive. Try that for an oxymoron!

1st topic - my male coworker

Last week Wednesday before we left for Thanksgiving holiday weekend, i work in a room of 5 people. 2 weren't in the room. And the only guy in my room of 4 women said to me in front of another coworker:

"all i hear all day is your voice....just jacke jackie jackie....i was so distracted i had my headphones in this morning...YOU WILL BE FIRED BEFORE EMILIA...."

(and female other coworker in the room agreed, tho not with adding in more of her thoughts, just saying "yeah")

(he meant it as a threat not reality i'm getting fired - but it hit me extremely hard as i've had some really brutal (and i mean BRUTAL) times at this company with the words "fired, let go, termination." i couldn't take it lightly. i was shaken to know i actually distrubed his work.)

but the point is the way he asked me to "shut up" wasn't exactly professional, curteous or kind. he's 30 years old. I feel he spoke WITHOUT his usual better taste and usually way better style. he spoke up, which is fine. and i do not hold what he said against hiim but it shook me to the bone. it was on my mind some of the weekend - as he's comparing me not only to this lady emilia, also 30, but she's my NIEGHBOR below my apt right underneath and her parents live right across from my door to my apt. As in, i exit my apt and open my door, and her parent's door is facing me. I ran into her in the laundry room Saturday night and told her i'd be focusing more on work and talking less....

i didn't tell her what he said, at first.

i told her yesterday in front of the woman who heard him saying it to me who was in the room that day - last wednesday.

when i told emilia, she took it all wrong. she asked why i didnt' tell her earlier and that it was directed towards her too...i explained it's a threat, not actually happening, and that he said it to me so i'd stop talking and was just making a poor comparison tho it's not meant for her to do anything with this statement or speak up about it. not sure i can trust her. but i don't care....

this is one of the experiences, very negative, i've been thinking about. i'm not a huge talker. tho last week i was talking about the birth of my sister's baby and the experience where the friend visited me unexpectedly...and about family stuff. i admit to talking more last week than usual. but i'm nnot to blame, i know this and i'm being honest, for the majority of the commotion in the room!!!!!! so that's why the comment wasn't so great to be said to me by my coworker. talking about being fired and comparing coworkers is pretty low, in my opinion, to go.

2nd topic: my parents -

my dad starts the conversation on the phone by telling me that during the "bris" i am NOT to comment on what it looks like or the anatomy of the baby.

my mom goes on to say that "the balls are big for a baby and that the P is small and please do not comment on the looks"

so there you go, i call my parents to discuss what my outfit will be (making sure it's not too fancy) but before i even can ask my question, they are telling me how to behave like i'm 5 and YES, i HAVE been to a bris once before...

but just the way my parents said this to me, like i'm 5, like i'm going to embarass myself and them.........UGH!

I told my dad never to speak to me that way again. and i cut my mom off...saying GOODNIGHT!

Way to go for my parents to start up a conversation with orders on my behavior and lack of their confidence that i won't act like an adult / mature at this bris!!! way to go parents! for your lack of confidence in my character!!!!!!!!!!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 11/27/2018:
I'm thinking about your post... Just who is this guy that he can say the pecking order of who gets fired first? Management supports these threats? And the witnessing female co-worker who said "yeah" - now she knows that you've told Emilia what was said - and she STILL had no comment?

Wow, now you know who NOT to go for to watch your back.

horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
the witness said it was harsh...yes, she agrees...and mentioned someting i didn't know...and uppper boss had mentioned to the guy who said it to me that there was too much talking coming out of our room...hmmm...

still, no good. maybe that upper boss had said that statement first, i can almost think that way...that the upper boss said it about me? hmmm....

either way, we can (me and you) agree that the statement was way inappropriate.

horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
the witness won't stand up for me to him or to bosses, but she didn't discount my feelings. she's OK. just she has no say or power in the office ;)...

but yeah, he's not my friend. with the guy...i have that relevation, that i do not need to give any cares for him anymore.

innerpeace on 11/27/2018:
Five people in a room, are you never supposed to talk? I don't think I would like working in this environment. And he sounds a little too sensitive for me to work with.

Good luck I hope everything works out.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
usually he isn't sensitive. it was a cruddy week....

of course i do not want to screw his work up...that's not cool. he is a "superior" of mine.

It will work out, but i'm changing my ways. no talking when he's in the room.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
he has meetings and times he's out of office in the field, so this seems the right approach. i no longer am interested in his very private life or him as a friend.

BearCountryGG on 11/27/2018:
It's difficult to work in an enviornment where there is dissension....Hope things settle down a bit.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
they will, it'll take awhile.

i respect he needs to do work, and i do know i am responsible for distracting him if he said it, it's obvious.

however, he said it wrong and asked me to not talk, so that's what i'll do.

he cannot have it "both ways." so, i'm not there to chat with him any longer.

graindart on 11/27/2018:
I see the workplace drama from a different perspective. Fuel for your fitness fire. This job is temporary and just a placeholder until your court career. Is there a date set yet for the next fitness qualification test?

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
it does inspire me to challenge myself and make this kind of life change career wise.

I'm not a "shoe-in"...i have to improve my cardio only. weights are good. situps could be a hair better. pushups are perfect and need no improvement.

the test will probably not be before 2020 which gives me some time...like i said it's not a definite either.

but i'd enjoy more doing something that i did for myself.

however, there's a moderate chance i'll wind up in the place (what i'm doing now) i am or similar for life. perhaps even with LESS pay (doing similar job to what i have no with no change)...scary thing to acknowledge.

2200 :)

3day: 2210

exercise: will see, if it stops raining i'll walk the 3 mi home from the subway. otherwise, i'll skip exercise...no need to torture myself and walk in the rainy mess.

yes, will work till 6pm, not 5pm, as i'm making up my time  (owing 3 more hours to leave early tomorrow, but maybe less if i come back to work tomorrow after the Bris - we'll see if it's worth it, or just plain tiring. once tomorrow comes...)

I will be STAYING at least one hour late tonight as i will soon owe a LOT of time back to this company....grrrr....in all, right now, i have to make up 19 hours, done on OT. 3 hours bc of my own needs tomorrow to leave early for baby celebration Bris but then 16 hours in order to get the Mondays before Christmas and New years off...it's worth it...but a LOT of hours to schedule in!

i was reading a great book, highly recommend...i'll write about it soon in my own diary:

"Eat your Way to Sexy," By Elizabeth Somer, Experienced Dietician

This book has so much info, i'll be highlighted sections as reminders of things to add into my diet and why

it gives some great advice regarding food choices, depression and anxiety, happy feelings...and the interconnect between these things. it has enlightened my thinking.

for instance, regarding the book, i realize that staying away from red meat was stupid (for me), especially as a woman, and to include it now. and also stupid of me - to not eat enough fish. by eating salmon, specifically, i can change my levels of feel good hormones drastically.

something else, sorta expensive but worth adding the small serving size amounts (a pinch - small pinch is the serving size) - SAFRON...this herb is so potent and powerful that 2 servings a day in one study proved better than PROZAC for depression. i ordered some Safron and plan to have it semi-regularly.

also with Safron, it combats inflammation / high blood pressure. it's a VERY special herb.

so the book is great.

just by adding some things to your diet, you can change a lot of your health. it's written by a dietician practicing around 20-30 years now. great read. tho it's a pink cover lol...but it's for men and women with info for both.

Happy Monday :)

I have to leave work early tomorrow. Very early. For this Bris Ceremony for my sister's baby boy. He'll be 7 days old or something like that :)

I'll come to work NORMAL time, 8:30, tomorrow. Then, I'll eat a small lunch at leave at 1pm. Then, my plan is to actually possibly come back to work, to stay late and make up for the time I was out.

I have already stayed an hour late last Wednesday...so, I have like 3 hours to make up and want them made up by the end of this week and possibly made up by tomorrow :) .... I may even make the time up tonight...i just want it out of the way and not to owe any more time.

Soon enough, in order to get the Mondays off before Christmas and New Years, there's a possibility we just need to work 16hrs of overtime. So, soon after i make up the time for this Tuesday, i'll have to begin making up 16 more hours...it's worth it, to get the long weekends, 4 days each weekend at the end of December / New Year :)

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

I love flexible schedules. I still end up putting in the same amount of work hours, but love being able to bend them around the parts of my life that are much more important.

horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2018:
yes, the worst has got to be coporate stupid hours. really takes away too much personal / family time. not a fan. lol.

if you can work your way, it's WAY more a productive work environment and lifestyle :)

BearCountryGG on 11/26/2018:
Beef is a great source of iron. I just found out that there is boron in nuts and it helps arthritic joints......I'm not redy to drink it in water...but I am going to add a little to bathwater ( soak 20 minutes)......also epsom salts in the tub adds magnesium....and just before bed helps you sleep sounder.

horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2018:
damn...i forgot about the magnesium in the epsom salts...YES...and magnesium is super important to anxiety and depression!!!!!!!!!! thank you for that....i will actually start up with the baths...and to keep my tub cleaner...and tell my friend ... :) magnesium is depleted from stress and other things...

legcramps on 11/26/2018:
That sounds like a great read; you can really go nuts over all the information people put out around food and the effects of food on the body. If you think about it as being fuel, it does change your perspective quite a lot i've found. I always eat red meat and salmon; I try to squeeze it in at least once every week or every two weeks - red meat I eat way more often than salmon, but I love both!

horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2018:
yeah a great read indeed, so insightful. in the new year, i'm going to make a lot of changes. i know my skin will get MUCH better. i could even improve on basic things: 1. eat fish 2. eat HEALTHY whole grains 3. eat MUCH more leafy greens (i dont eat them all the time, veggies yes, but leafy salad greens - no).

if i do those things, i'll be eating much healthier.

happy-1 on 11/26/2018:
I’m trying to eat more salmon too.

Thai food....never had that.....sounds good though. I think it is necessary to live in an area where there is a diverse group of people...because we have never lived anywhere that the more exotic restaurants were.......we only have stick to the ribs american food places here....i would love to try foods from other cultures...D...not so much...he's a steak and potato kind of guy.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2018:
I'm sorry you don't have the variety by you - i know i'm really, really lucky. there's never a reason for me to be bored with food choices. tho, with all the choices, i'm glad i'm starting to cook on my own....

especially desserts as stores / companies have not come out with desserts as healthy as the recipes i have found! :)

thai in my opinion is the healthiest of all cuisines. they use a LOT of veggies.

the place by me uses a VERY lite sauce and EXTRA types of veggies and seasonings. not like chinese, surgery / syrupy sauces at all!

Thai basically uses a lot of ingredients like: Basil leaves, fresh ginger slices and garlic as well as other extremely healthy spices in their food. top notch!

graindart on 11/25/2018:
Like Bear was saying, we have mostly straight-forward american food places around here. Whenever we head off on vacation, most of my thoughts go towards all of the different "ethnic" types of food places that I can fit into the trip. The vast majority of the food that I ate on the cruise this past summer was centered around other types of food that are atypical around here. Would love to live in an area with a wider range of food type options.

it's nice to be able to try so many different foods. my mind is wide open regarding trying new things. especially new seasonings.

my parents hate Indian type food. It is sorta sad. the only reason they don't like it, in my opinion, is they don't know how to eat it and order it...Indian can be full of different sauces and creams...to mix with rice or a bread. of course i'd try to limit how much. but my parents really don't know it...and the flavors are so good! so healthy even if you order the "right" things. because indian can also been one of the most fattening foods if you order it that way...

Donkey on 11/25/2018:
Oh how lovely - I've had Thai only once or twice, and I think I got the same thing each time. When I worked in Chicago and had more diverse friends, we would go out to different neighborhoods, different ethnic restaurants. We have a very good Thai restaurant here in town, but haven't gone there yet...

Horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2018:
it's the best feeling :) to not really on anyone as much anymore. and to possibly save money if i keep doing it...right now it's costing a lot as i always seem to be missing stock items to have at home - like spices and other necessary items that are not on sale ever...and i'm also choosing pricey items to make, like the corned beef.

it'll be good if NONE goes to waste :) hence, the freezer :)

Thankful to be home as I've been in and out of the bathroom all mornings - seriously a bad round of Time of the Month! Bad thigh pain and lower back pain and taking aspirin today.

I have already cleaned the hamser cage and both of the balls it rolls around in...good...will be putting away laundry and washing my sheets and maybe a couple small loads, we'll see...since i just did laundry but the sheets need washing before the long week ahead and tomorrow i am busy :)

soon to cleaners to pick up 2 items and drop off a comforter that i will store away after it's cleaned.  i don't wanna do too much since it's a pleasant day indoors!, but i should do a few errands which will make the week easier ahead. :) I'll also cook up some kinda sausage & veggies dish in the slow cooker...which reminds me, i should buy more slow cooker liner bags :) and pumpkin brownies are on the list to bake before the week ahead!

dinner: back at my apt: thinking cooked leftover veggies and a cauliflower pizza crust.

7day: 2315.

This am (10am-1pm) till early afternoon I'm doing some errands involving driving to a coworker for a little while (i went there to pick up some things i ordered from her daughter's school fundraiser and also volunteered to help her with bringing in the items for coworkers at work bc it's a lot for her to do and it doesn't bother me to help her out...i also gave her daughter the trumpet lesson i've been wanting to give and YES, i totally got her daughter playing a bit better than when the lesson started :)...so, i knew i could probably help her daughter and i happily did...then i played some Super Nintendo with her daughter LOL ....

Additionally my mom wants me to (quickly!) clean out my old clothes so now I can take go home as quickly as I planned lol...i didn't get to really do this because i got home late from my coworker's (staying an hour extra than planned), so i came home and had lunch with parents but then just told them to take the already filled up bag of clothes and consider them all clothes i'm dumping...and that anything else hanging in the closet and my shoes will need to be sorted the next time (tho everything is old and she can, if she wanted to, dump it all and i wouldn't notice).

Parents wanted to leave the house and i don't have a key, so i was rushed to go home so i couldn't finish the cleaning, tho, it should only take up to ONE HOUR of my time to clean my entire clothes out of my room...so, whenever i do it, it won't take long...possibly even a half hour the next time i go home.

Then my plan is get to the gym around 4pm for a good workout...just caffinating up first, while my car is parked in visitor parking...i should have parked in my spot...but i'll leave shortly and pray for no ticket / notice, etc. ...

Something to be said for having all of your clothes at your place.....When I moved out I didn't have that much...so nothing got left behind other than some old outgrown toys.......and when I saw that my mom had kept the HEAD from my old doll ( the body was made of rubber that rotted over the years)...because it looked like me as a baby....I quickly removed everything and got rid of that creepy head...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2018:
I wanted to be home alone but my mom really wanted me to come over to eat with her and my dad so I went :)

Donkey on 11/22/2018:
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Yes, I was kind of wanting to know if you were going to your folks, or maybe having a dinner with friends... (I admit I was afraid to ask... I don't know why.)

One year, I spent Thanksgiving alone. I just needed a break from everything and everyone. That can be nice too.

horn_of_plenty on 11/22/2018:
Trust me I don't think you'll ever ask a bad question !

I did want to be alone today but my mom really wanted me to come over so I did eventually drive over :)

update: not going to hospital so I will do a workout after work tonight

Planning to do an evening workout tonight, despite being able to do it tomorrow, i'd rather do it tonight....then again i may be i hospital.

My sister has been admitted to hospital....to be given hormones to induce labor (since she is like a week past the due date)...so she'll prob give birth today. my parents are keeping me in the loop. I work in midtown Manhattan and I believe the hospital is Uptown Manhattan...it would be good to go there during the workday...as i'm already in NYC, better than going home and coming back which would defeat all logic...so, i think 90% if i go to hospital, it'll be sometime during today, straight from work, taking of course public transportation.

how kind!!!! <3 <3 <3

Donkey on 11/21/2018:
I was 2 weeks overdue with both kids. Given hormones to induce labor. Ended up having c-sections with both. Probably just as well, since my son was just under 10 pounds, and my daughter was over 10 pounds. OUCH.

horn_of_plenty on 11/21/2018:
wowwww...those are huge babies to come outta you, maybe another reason for the c-section.

she delivered hers naturally, in only 15 min of pushing.

Donkey on 11/21/2018:
You're going to be an aunt soon - if not already!

Yesterday was sooo strange starting around 3pm with a very unexpected female friend visitor that ended up shopwing up at my apt by Uber (she lives half hour away, doesn't have a car at the moment)...so she doesn't have a car. I had just showered and had a second wind...ready to head out to the gym after almost a month of home workouts away from my fave place - the gym! She came along, but her attention / workout didn't last to the length of mine, as i expected as my gym workouts are rather LONG.  I stopped my workout early when she asked me to take her home, 30 minutes away from the gym I drove her home...still having a workout that i thought i'd finish when i got back to my apt....but....this didn't even happen...!..it was a very disrupted, sorta annoying night (but not the worst)...and a lesson learned...to think about how i reply to a text from ANYONE when they write "where are you, what are you up to..." and to make sure i'm clear i do not accept "drop ins" or people showing up at my place expecting me to just go to a bar when i may have plans myself!

I ended up having to drive her home around 7pm and then I drove back to gym to pick up the keys she forgot there! but i also finsihed my workout at the gym before i drove the keys back to her, at 8pm...getting to her home around 8:30 for the second time...and then she wasn't there to accept the keys...i left them basically in her mailbox as i am BUSY and was just spending 1.5hrs of my evening driving around for HER, unexpectedly and also with severe interruptions to what i thought would be an "epic" sunday workout, lol...but, really!

What a good fried you were.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2018:
i guess so... :) decent, anyways.

graindart on 11/19/2018:
Have this one "friend" that this kind of reminded me of. We were friends in high school (20+ years ago) and see each other once or twice per year as he lives in another state. He never calls / texts more than 20 minutes ahead of time. In fact he usually just shows up at my door with no warning. I don't know what's going through his head. He just shows up and expects me to drop everything and entertain him. Like I don't have a life, family, plans, etc. Like I'm just sitting at home for 6 months at a time, waiting for him to show up so that I can do something for a couple hours. It's soooooo frustrating!

And when he's called ahead of time, it's usually because something's broken down or he's in need of some type of assistance (needs rides to / from parts stores, etc).

I'm not the only one he does it to either. We have a mutual friend that lives here that he does the same thing to also. Once he even tracked them down to a remote lake where they were ice fishing and just showed up (not invited) - all based on Facebook posts.

I shouldn't have read your entry today, now I'm all worked-up for no reason.....

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2018:
....yes, your story has me worked up for you! ....that guy is nuts, man!!!!!!!!!!! showing up based on facebook posts....ahhhh, scary!

Donkey on 11/20/2018:
Oh my what a saga with your drop-in friend... Who does that???

I hope your tummy problems resolve themselves. That's no fun.

horn_of_plenty on 11/20/2018:
she was having boyfriend troubles and also didn't seem to want to be home...very weird....tho, it's a lot of drama that i am not in a good place to be able to take on...i am literally running from drama lol...another weird occurance happened to me yesterday with a guy! long time not hearing anything, he reaches out with a long note on facebook how he feels so hallow without a relationship with me (that in my mind never had, i considered him a just a Canadian friend with benefits that i visited 2x and he visited me 1x in 7 years of knowing each other)...he feels hallow without me in his life...tho....i was never really fully in it. i had to explain how wanting different things and not communicating with each other led to this scenario. and that he should trust he has the confidence to move on and date other women...he blamed our "relationship" on his inability to date women now....like really!?

Because of the short week, i'm skipping out on Laundry this weekend...and going to workout at the gym today for a long session instead...Laundry can seriously wait...or, i'll just do some of it later on but not bed sheets...either way. Looking to simplify things & actually make it to the gym for a workout there this weekend. Haven't been there in a LONG time...maybe Oct 21st was my last time...would be a good challenge to work out there today instead of at home.

Donkey on 11/18/2018:
I'm so excited for a short week!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/18/2018:
oh, me too!!!!! so happy about it.

bc my sister (tho not close with her) is pregnant and was due to give birth and hasn't yet i am thinking my family may not do anything at all for Thanksgiving. my parents will be involved but i'm staying out of some of it. she even told me i "don't need to be at the hospital" so i've decided to consider that to be "do not go to the hospital."

I am very thankful for the extra days off.

BearCountryGG on 11/18/2018:
Napping going on around here today too.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2018:
yes, naps were good...loving the extra sleep / change in my schedule for the weekend!

Donkey on 11/18/2018:
I agree with your assessment regarding your sister. Just let her be...

horn_of_plenty on 11/18/2018:
I'm starting to regret not gojng so I told my parents to keep me in loop

Donkey on 11/19/2018:
^^^ That's OK - and I do not think it hurts anyone to be kept in the loop at least.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2018:
yes :) thank you Jdonk...i'd hate her to remember how her sister failed to show up to the first baby's birth at the hospital...i'll decide a bit based on convenience of getting to the hospital, not sure which one, but it's in the city, uptown, i work midtown...so, should be easy if i'm in city for work to go after...if i get this kinda luck it'd be good...

graindart on 11/19/2018:
Was thinking I should keep my mouth shut on the subject, but decided to share my opinion anyway. If it was me, I'd get a card and go to the hospital to see the baby. (I'm not a "card" type person, but it's a memento that might end up in the baby's birth photo album.)

Even with ill feelings with your sister, birth of a new baby is a special event that will always be remembered. Reasoning for showing up / not showing up will be forgotten by everyone else, but whether or not someone shows up will be remembered by all.

Plus, it's a newborn baby! You get to hold a brand new baby, enjoy it's precious innocence, and then hand it back when it starts crying or needs something.

Again, just my opinion on what I'd do. Not trying to tell you what to do.

horn_of_plenty on 11/19/2018:
no, you are right...and i'm going to make the effort to go...hopefully i can leave work early (either tomorrow or the next day she would be having it, it seems)
