Message to all of us here who sometimes struggle with positivity motivation and or depression anxiety: keep on - just keep on, don't doubt yourself or your plans - your goals are possible and what you do now is possible - that last part about work now and life now is for Donkey !!!

Home kombucha 100..no pooping tho...but i 'll be fine it seems today.

Bfast: tea, banana 120, wrap 100, pb 200: 420., coffee with almond milk/stevia

Snack: almonds 150

Lunch: from home salmon 200?, veg 50-100, and ordered shrimp from food truck with coworkers (saving salmon for tomorrow) a little bit of sauce too 200 chips 150, orange 50: 350.

Snack: yogurt from coworker! 150? fruit on bottom greek type...

1200 before dinner...

dinner: Got to dentist too early so went around corner to eat sushi avocado and salmon cucumber roll and miso soup total around 500 1700 need to clean up apt bc having it cleaned really tomorrrow when I am not home .....and then early to bed.

total 1750. excellent.


New exercise plan = hard as F*ck!  I think i can keep attempting and get better, but right now i'd fail it if you were testing me. I'll be practicing it for ONE YEAR until 2019...in January 2019, or december into it, i'll reconvene and assess if it's doable or not to be a court officer.

one of the exercises, called a split squat, i could only do FOUR reps in each set...not the recommended 8-12 reps. so i'm really under par. I also need to improve my situps to triple what i can do now...like be able to do 38, not my current 15. LOL...on pushups, i'm practically there at the best rating - best rating means you can do 30 pushups or more, i can do this as long as i maintain my current level of training. because i made it my best exercise (pushups) as i excelled quite fast in them over 10 years ago and at one point i could do 70 lousy form ones all at once though - which is quite impressive. no reason why i can't also make situps better, right!?  Now my top number is right around 30 pushups, but i need to make the last ones stronger and keep good form - just needs continued practice, but not really any extra effort, thankfully!

i did practice setting up the cones for the running aspects of the fitness test on sunday, i hope to practice right now on weekends that are at least 40 degrees outside.  There are two running portions.

if i can be a court officer, i will do it despite salary cut because i feel it's a simpler job with less "reasoning / deciphering / figuring out" and more "action" duties...i am going to make the attempt to get it, that's all i can do. ONE YEAR, if my progress is not substantial, i'll have to reconsider my goal of being a court officer.  Also, i want to do it for job stability as i feel once i get into academy, the job is mine to keep as long as i follow directions.

There was a time in my ADULT life i couldn't do ONE standard pushup, had to start on my news with "girl" pushups. There was a time I could only lift 10 lb weights for bicep curls (i've gotten up to at my best 35lb bicep curls and now not practicing them bc the court officer guide doesn't recommend it, only to train triceps).

There was a time after injury that  i couldn't run or even walk without pain - and i taught myself to run again after an injury.

So perhaps the "impossible" is seriously STILL POSSIBLE. I'm just not giving up yet. I just can't just yet. Before doing more running, i'm just following the legs exercises (i believe it's just 4 of them) that are advised by the court officer training guide.

Seems once we have jobs, it's hard to become really good at anything else...the effort for me is just to maintain a proper practice schedule despite some distractions...

My job pays well, has flexible hours, and allows me to work from home. On paper, I should love it. In reality I've mildly hated it since about year 2 or 3. I really didn't intend to still be doing this job 16 years later. It pays well and it doesn't take any real effort to just "continue" with what I know. Of course I'd much rather be doing something that I enjoy, but there's not really any other job / career that I can name that I'd actually enjoy doing. I've thought about just taking a week or two off and sit around brainstorming what I really would enjoy doing for a job. If I were to do that, I envision myself getting bored and falling back to watching TV or surfing the internet, thereby just wasting a week or two without pay. So while your job change goal is a little ways away, I envy the fact that you have something picked out that you'd like to do.

And hopefully I can advance in it I feel it works out - it starts low for NYC standards around 50k which will mean little savings for a few years. Hopefully it can all work out...

For now it means I need to push myslef to make sure I am physically practicing the exercises - it still excites me that I can do it I feel I work on it.

I think that's a good idea to train for a year and then re-assess. I didn't know what a split squat was, so I Googled it. Oh my, my knees hurt just watching the video. With your ankle/leg issues, please train wisely. I'm cheering you on, though. You got this!

yes, i'm trying to hold back...as my butt has been sore since yesterday.

the new exercises are actually way different than before, no biceps - but extra triceps and it's just totally different where i'm using much lower weights because i do not have the strength yet to do these new exercises like the ones i used to do before. It's a good change...but i must remember to also rest and not go to crazy.

yeah, with the split squat its one knee to the ground - really different.

Anxiety sure can complicate things...but i guess we recognize it and work to move past it..

I wish I could edit my comments... I feel guilty and anxious when I have quiet days with not much to do. I feel guilty for just watching TV, which is why I try to ride my bike or walk on the treadmill while watching TV -- but then that's not a quiet/resting day, is it?

Snack if hungry: half chocolate glazed donut, 170 or so cal!

Healthy lunch: leftovers of egg/white 100, my roasted potatoes 200, broccoli 50, clementine 50, pretzels 100: 500...and chocolate of course...not gonna keep going with it? or will i!? (talking about chocolate)

1150 after lunch..

snack before going home: possible chocolate

dinner: i have tons of tasty healthy things, can't wait to use my homemade salad dressing and have a very large salad with tofu, maybe small serving butter popcorn also.

Dinner approx 650

Total is great, 1900.

Weekly avg is very good around 2070.

Walked a lot this week!

Today I walked at lunch 15-20min And I walked after work half hour I walked total 20min to and from bus And couple errands.

Grand total time walking over an hour - pays to fit it in over the course of the day!

So I shouldn't push the jogging training bc the walking is really adding up nicely first off.

I am also a tad sore from my new workout routine that should help me to be a court officer

GM! Whether i like it or not, tonight is the gym after work. Last night i was in bed before 8pm, been very tired this Winter.


Home: kombucha and it worked 40 cal

Breakfast at work: wrap 100 with one small turkey sausage 50, banana 120, coffee with almond milk 20. total above 330 approx. and 1 piece white/dark chocolate i brought some into work to eat - maybe the limit should be 2-3 per day? lol. 

snack: TBD - almonds 150

Healthy Lunch: egg/egg white 120, potatoes 200, veg 100, clementine 50. approx 500. still ate to past full but normal portions, extra veggies.

Late afternoon snack before going home: one chocolate

before gym: thinking yogurt and sweet potato? i ate dinner after getting off the bus and before walking home - worked like a charm so i just came in to pick up my things and leave for gym. this can work :)

dinner: sushi and miso soup 550

after gym: rest of that sushi, chips and blueberries 300, chocolate bc i have it now at home and work and still on a kick for chocolate lol.

total is awesome 2050, still gotta work on health :)



I walked a tiny bit extra this AM to one farther bus stop (maybe includes walking 2-3 minutes more) and because i left early, got to work too early so didn't go right in, but walked extra (even tho very cold).  So already today, i've walked around 30 minutes in the morning. Very cool. Good exercise...might as well keep this up so that i can go home and not worry that i need to exercise when i get home...except only around 1 night per week this winter when i do weights during the weekdays....i am not ever giving it up - weights have been so good to my body!

Oh, getting into work after so much walking in AM...sparksmy appetite so much...i eat as soon as i get into work (as most people do in this industry with desk jobs).

yes, 1 or 1.5mi before 7:30am is pretty good, I'd say.

I've had better luck just adding in the exercise before the end of the workday...than going out into the cold once i get home when i'm both hungry and tired.

this new commute i'm still getting used to - it's been over one month of this new job, almost 6 weeks already!...my legs are stronger than how they were when i started...must keep on!

Up & at work. Arrived early so did an extra walk around a whole block before walking into work.  Seems a good idea to walk extra if i'm early to work in morning...gets more steps in. something to continue.

6am Home: honey and tea 20,

7:30am Work banana 120 and chocolate 70. salt and vinegar almonds 50 total here: 260.

Breakfast: wrap 100, cashew butter, blackberries 350.

good lunch: huge, but good. gotta work i think on smaller portions or stopping when full, still i can't. 650.

3pm snack: dark chocolate

No gym today bc i want a night early at home after last night's being home late. being out many nights in a row is stressful to me and i tend to get sick after running around many days in a row. it seems this Winter will include mostly 2x a week workouts except for a couple weeks in March and one week in February = good enough.

and as for my cardio - gonna try for one session on weekend (walking / maybe jogging also - not for improvement, just for maintenance right now of what i can do). in spring i'm taking a break from taking any classes (except for a 5 week jury duty class if it's offered bc it means if you go to jury duty you can be paid 80% of your salary and not just $40 a day - making jury duty worth it for me to attend!)

in spring is when i want to make advancements in my cardio...and my gym workout will be changing to include only the weights / strength exercises on the court officer training guide (since they wrote one) and will make my weight training exercises much less...but planning to do more for legs, less for arms.

It's called a citizenship class especially for union members...i do not think it's available in many places even in NYC except for my union...it's like a really nice opportunity to not just make $40 when you can't work bc of jury duty. and for only 5 weeks, once a week for 2 hours...total of 10 hours, i know it'll be at least interesting topic of our rights / obligations as citizens and i don't mind going there, eating dinner there, for 5 weeks, once a week, and i'd actually HOPE to be selected for jury duty afterwards!

it's a class to take, doesn't mean you'll be selected for jury duty - but if you EVER are after taking the class, it's very beneficial not to only make $40 each day, but more like probably $100 each day. then i don't mind missing even a week of work for JD! LOL. good change of pace.

That's interesting....I don't know if it's the same everywhere or not...but in Michigan they randomly pick jurors from people with drivers licenses....I've been called to jury duty 2 times....of course last fall for 3 months was my last time...but the first time was when we were an emergency foster home and they let me off because of that.....here you can also be excused if you have served as a juror in the last year or are 70 or over....there are some other reasons also that didn't apply to us......but there is also Federal jury Duty which Denny had a couple of years ago....that was more involved...and a higher crime. A lot of people love it and are eager to go.

Class tonight 5-7 Need to also return/renew books at library next door and drop off the health reimbursement funds that I forgot to do yesterday since going home I like to skip walking by that office.

Nice to start with a new class....loved that first day...always a fresh new start.....( I always think of that old saying that goes something like......A bouquet of freshly sharpened yellow pencils)not sure if that was from the movie YOU'VE GOT MAIL or not...but I love the saying. Taking a small pad of paper it's seriously a mini not legal size and I took it from the work storage bc it fits in my bag so I'll prob keep it in my bag for the entire 10 weeks of this course

I would DEFINITELY stop for something to eat before class. Eating during class helps you concentrate and retain better. And conversely, being hungry during class can be a HUGE distraction.

Home: tea, herbal, very tasty

Larger than expected breakfast at work: half a really fatty donut that coworker brought in 150 (calories on the box), banana 150, coffee w/ almond milk (calories already included), and 2 sausages 130 in a wrap 100. total here: 530-550, still decent. glad i had only half a donut. wasn't even that good - extremely fatty tasting. like fried dough. and lately i'm breaking out, prob too much sugar...

snack:yes, salted smoked almonds 150 - gonna have to lay off the sugars bc it's getting to be a TON...or one chocolate...but i cannot be eating chocolate as breakfast anymore - was a nice month like that but trying to get back on track...

Lunch: from home and i have tons of food this week, so i shouldn't really have to order a thing...1 egg, 1 egg white 100, lots of cabbage, pretzels 450

snack: clementine 50

1200 after lunch, plus TWO chocolates

1350 before dinner :)

Dinner at home: i want to include the broccoli that i steamed nicely in microwave last night and also i want to roast the sweet potatoes tonight...maybe have some of that with dinner since they'll be nice and warm.

Dinner is going amazingly ! Had kombucha snack and peppers diced in the dressing I made myself 150 so far , later will be roasted peppers and a yogurt with some fruit at bottom

Total today extremely tasty with one portion (3 total pieces) of chocolate.

Total is healthy at 2050.

3day is 2200 per day - decent


i don't think i'll find peace within myself until i hopefully get the opportunity to train and work as a court officer. additionally, i don't think i'll find peace within myself if i STOP exercising. That being said, i'll try to talk about court officer less as the opportunity to be chosen will not arise for approx 3 years. With that being said, i will continue to train, read, and do things to help myself. I'm not a big social person, so i'll continue to improve upon myself, especially weekends, and work on what i know is probably best for me. being at current job is weird and strange, as usual, because i'm always confused of what i'm doing. anyways, like i said, i know it's on the backburner, but i'm not quitting on my ability to attempt to usually very well fit in exercise and fitness and healthy eating on my "off hours" when i'm not at work. I'm going to continue. It may not be the highest paying job, but it will put me at peace knowing you cannot get fired so easily (like a cop) and that i'm on a pay schedule, work schedule - all the things i freak about now (stability of having a job) wouldn't necessarily be a stress as a court officer, once again IF i were to have the opportunity to be one. part of why i train so hard is bc i want my training to be related to my work. it's a desire of mine to LINK exercise with a job somehow. This would be that way....pay would be low like 5 years...but i do feel i'd be at peace with myself and not feel so anxious about keeping a job / having to rely on my dad. it's very upsetting feelings so...so this is why i keep this in the back of my head.

my course every tuesday for 10 (really 11) weeks starts tomorrow, 5-7pm, basic estimating. i'm debating bringing (buying something to eat at the class after i walk off the bus that lets me out over there where i live and where the course is given - there's a shopping center across the street with fast food choices) dinner, but we'll see. it'll be hard to focus if i'm hungry those two hours. my friend ricky told me i was nuts to think about food if i'm taking a course, but i think he's somtimes nuts to criticize what i do think about and why. there's a reason i weigh a certain amount right now and it has to do with my planning and being conscientous of eating. duh.


exercise was great yesterday, should have filled the humidfier fully bc it helps me breathe at night with the heat on...especially important after the days i exercise for at night to have easy breathing...will do that tonight too.

lastly, i must remember to drop off my health reimbursement papers to the union after i step off the bus (it is on the walk home so, yes, it's easy).

yeah, prob not the smartest thing...lots of sweets in this trailer and time for me to get on track, especially bc i have broken out now on my face...but could be hormonal too..although sugar in excess never is helpful either...lol.

i don't think the idea of eating chocolate for a meal is healthy, so i'll scale back and make sure that i'm eating some kinda breakfast everyday at work, not just chocolate. my coworkers tend to eat lots of sweets, and they aren't fitness minded. some are health minded yes, actually i take back that nobody is fitness minded....but the sweets that come into the office are seriously too much. so if there is temptation, it seems i do better to take a little and be satisfied - for now this is working, but i'm also gonna make sure i eat some protein and healthier things to make sure i am being somewhat health conscious....i do realize it's a pick and choose and that portions are important...less is more on the sweets..and to make sure not to continue it all day long...meaning other snacks / meals need to be more nutritious if others are not previously in the day..

Having an all or none type personality, eating half a donut would probably be harder for me than not eating it at all. If I take that initial bite, I'm probably eating the whole thing. I guess if there was a knife sitting next to the donut box, I might be able to cut it in half and scurry off with just half......

I've been trying to keep chocolate out of the house and avoid it since I love it so much. Avoiding chocolate hasn't made the desire go away. It just gets replaced with other temptations. My new "vice" is my daily chewable gummy vitamins. They're effectively candy, but I rationalize them because they're vitamins....... Eating them is one of my first thoughts after waking up. At 20 calories total daily they're not a caloric issue, but they've become a sweet habit that I might have to look at breaking down the road.

yes, i have had in particular one instance myself where i bought omega chewable gummies...i ate them all in practically one day and decided i cannot buy them again.

so i do understand where you are coming from and how hard it is...one of my first thoughts upon waking up is that i'll have tea (herbal and it's pretty sweet especially when i add in stevia) and relax on my couch before leaving my apt for the day (workdays). and lately i also start with a little honey since it's good for you in small portions i discount that it's sugar...i count the calories, but i think the benefits outweigh the cons of honey.

i also need to go back to eating more protein snacks...like almonds and not chocolate.

i did buy some more chocolate but hope for it to last a little longer - and not for it to be eaten as quickly as i have been...but will still allow myself some right now - as a snack, not a meal.

Thinking about it some more, I might add "moderation" to my list of future goals. Something to strive for once I get done with my losing weight phase and get to the maintaining stage. Right now it's easier for me to just not have something in the house. In the future it would be much more beneficial to just be able to not obsess over it and have it as an occasional treat. I wish I was able to successfully change a bunch of stuff all at the same time, but from past experience that just overwhelms me and I end up failing at everything. So I'll have to settle for being successful at one thing at a time right now.

yes, it's a one-step-at-a-time process. it was for me also.

i still think about food more than most, but, i am also able to be more moderate.

the more i exercise, the more moderate as well....not extra exercise, just as long as i maintain what i've already gotten to fitness wise.

i am not in a weightloss phase anymore so after it, i have been doing what you say your next step is, moderation, after you reach your goal. this is what i did for myself - same as what you are doing.

to lose my "last 10" before i have been satisfied, it took one year including my sister's wedding.

Yes definitely really not healthy and not gonna keep me healthy to eat this way forever ! Forcing myself back on the healthier wagon! My office has the worst temptations! But as long as I ate least also eat healthy food I'll be ok. So less junk and more real food.

Dark chocolate is very good for you...lots of antioxidants....apparently....it is hard to resist when it's in your face all day....it's a challenge...

So might as well take a piece ;) but try to moderate it :) kinda fun tasting all these sugary treats but I DO NOTICE how they def spike my blood sugar leading to a bigger crash and more carb cravings ! But in moderation, at least it prevents bingeing bc I've had my fill whenever I want it, lol...

Laundry done :-)

Snack before gym granola bars and some energy drink 200

1650..... Gearing up to read and gym, laundry later and some cooking later but not going crazy doing lots

Grand total 2150. Excellent !

2275 2 day not bad! .......

I have sweet potatoes to roast, spaghetti squash to cook, a chicken to buy, fruit to buy, bananas, de more veggies to buy, more salami to buy bc it lasts a long time, and maybe start making dressing soon....yes gonna make a dressing so I'll make sure I have all the ingredients - Ricky's had given me the recipe and i can use it for beans and veggies and it tastes great - instead of vinegar it uses lemon juice :)

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Reason for a fiber filled breakfast is I don't seem to be able to use the bathroom enough during the weeek especially with this new job. Still getting used to it all. Have had the job 1 month already. -------------------------

Slept like 9 hours and feel good. Had breakfast and sitting on couch reading a magazine right now. After that, plans to shower & go out for a walk with Ricky.m

Will also clean hamster cage after shower. Laundry and any food shopping is for tomorrow.

Be careful with the fiber -- I got to the point where I was eating so much fiber that my body was having a LOT of trouble moving things along. See if the change works, though, first. Maybe you need a softener... or just more water?

I wanted to comment on your entry from a few days ago, about focusing on your current career and not getting too ahead of yourself with the court officer ambition, but Bear beat me to it.

I drank kombucha so all was good today - it's just nerves at work and if I'm busy after work ....never a good balance and with new job it's been worse. Thankfully when the weekend comes I poop easily and often.

Actually I had kombucha which gave me diarrhea today sorry tmi but I felt so good with everything out.
