Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only -2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 10/06/2021:
Glad to read that you got in your upper body weight training last night! Way to GO!

Ugh, I didn't realize that you'd have "assignments" to do for your union class. Blah... I guess it's just a short presentation, and it's not like you get graded, right? It's more for just participation, correct? I hope so!

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
yeah, you are right. i didn't realize it was assingments either...worse yet...the teacher expects us to coordinate and communicate during the week between yesterday and next class. it is slightly a "group assignment!" and class is broken into two small groups of 3 people each.

i can't communicate with them unless it's the weekend / they may not want to communicate on the weekend. ah well. it is what it is.

all is good either way. yes, no grades!

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
he is a great instructor tho. took his classes before!

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
and yes, short presentation. maybe we can each present our findings separately, we'll see what the other people in my group want. lol.

Jacky82020 on 10/06/2021:
Congrats on the new weight. I got to 108 for a few weeks, but only because the second vaccine made me puke & unable to eat much for a while. Maybe there’s hope for me when I am eligible for the booster. LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
hahaha, i'm hoping the weight will last. have had it for a few months, maybe 6 already. didn't want to post it because then i'd feel obligated to maintain it with pressure of seeing it here! i've been able to keep calories lower than past years, plus i do try to do at least a little cardio most days. you prob have more muscle than me in the lower body especially..my lower body doesn't have much muscle - i try to add to it when i can by continuing with lower body exercises.

Jacky82020 on 10/06/2021:
Since you asked, I sent a pic of one of the axies

Jacky82020 on 10/06/2021:
You’re doing terrific!

Hope it will be a negative! You also have your shots, so you shouldn't be worried much, although I fully understand it would mess up the plans with your parents for your dad's birthday. Fingers crossed, girl!

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
exactly!

Donkey on 10/05/2021:
Ah, I don't think it would hurt to get the COVID test. At least you could say, even if it's just to yourself, On such-and-such date, I tested negative.

Congratulations on finishing your course!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! And now the next chapter of Life begins.

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
so glad the course is over. it was definitely a long final. lots of typing and i will forget most of what i typed.!

Jacky82020 on 10/05/2021:
Congrats on the coursework. You deserve a break. Sending you a big sack of MacDonalds burgers.

How are the piggie poopies? Frankie said to tell you his are fine, big & manly for a little guy.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
thanks, Lady! i prefer nuggets and fries, will you send those!? ha!

frankie seems a bit better, been trying to watch myself and feed the pigs less. never had this issue before with the softer poops. i accidentally wiped him too hard and made him bleed (hardly, but he did ever so lightly) the other day, but he's better now (frankie!)

in summary - Frankie seems a bit better <3

Horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
he just bled a little again and seemed to be crying a little....maybe he has a kidney stone...may need to bring him to the vet :(

Jacky82020 on 10/05/2021:
Oh, the poor little thing. Sometimes my. Frankie scoots on the rug like he’s wiping his butt. Probably itchy. He has dry sometimes.

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
yeah, i will see how he's doing as the week progresses :(

Jacky82020 on 10/06/2021:
Keep us posted. Sweet little guy. I’d google that one good & see what they say. Have you found anything helpful?

horn_of_plenty on 10/06/2021:
one site or note i saw online said to feed them more vitamin C? have you heard that to help kidney stones?

i think i may have rubbed his "PP" too hard the other day cleaning him, or he has a stone. :( something to cause some blood.

Jacky82020 on 10/06/2021:
Don’t know anything about piggies. Know C is good for ppl & I get a lot in the vegetable juice. Would they drink juice? My parrots like apple & orange juice.

In general, poop changes in my pets are usually diet related. Us too. I’d imagine you need the correct balance of produce & other foods. Don’t they eat pellets? Think I see boxes of them in the Walmart pet dept. they have a surprising amount of fish products, but usually Amazon does better.

Donkey on 10/06/2021:
My cat's poop smells like really strong garlic. Just putting that out there.

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus." - to continue when i finish my class. - it's a leadership book.

Drove to a place open until 8pm - they said they aren't giving anymore covid tests today (Monday)...wasn't going to drive around as it was close to 6pm, have to do homework at home, plus it was a rainy commute home. may try again Wednesday - tomorrow i have the online zoom course.

Final exam is in progress, but questions are requiring a lot of thought and essay writing. I may need to finish around Thursday...the final day the final is due is actually Friday...so I may take until almost then because of the other after-work obligations i also have this week and cannot just do homework every night.

I was told it's best to get a PCR test after work bc someone tested positive who visited my work trailer when i was at work, thursday. :( may go for this after work today...UGH! - tried, didn't work out.

10/4/21 Monday - bike tonight; maybe. Raining in AM, plus left later, no cardio.

I have to finish the final exam tonight. I have quite a bit left still, over half the test.  I did the 20 multiple choice; now have around 12 short answer/essay questions.

Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, pb 100, blueberry healthier type muffin 100. 350...

Snacks: 2 chocs 100, a second muffin 100

Lunch: grape tomatoes 50, "Life Cuisine" cauilflower gnocchi in a pesto type sauce that was excellent.  overate a bit bc it's good. def higher cal than it says, extra sauce, etc. 550...600 here. it was tasty but hard to stop eating bc it's such great flavors. highly recommend.

Snacks:

Dinner: veggies some grilled 150, small amount of the steak from weekend 200 (not much), dried jackfruit that was quite soft and nice 100, couple white chocolate reeces 200. 650. trying to start my work, 7:30pm now...

part of a beer 100

10/5/21 Tuesday -

FINISHED THE FINAL EXAM at close to 10pm last night, it took at least two hours to do the essay part. glad it's done, was slightly painful, yes! would have liked to rest up and go to bed, but it's done. :)

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only -2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 10/04/2021:
To keep the stress levels manageable, I would encourage you to work on the final exam at least a little bit tonight, even if it means no bike ride or other cardio today. Yep, that would suck, but I figure Tuesday, you won't have time to work on any of the test, which puts a LOT of pressure on you for Wednesday.

Of course, I realize that being able to work on the final tonight does depend a lot on how your day goes, the commute home, and how you're feeling generally, overall.

I *definitely* support your decision to put a long pause on classwork and just focus on your overall well-being. When I had a killer commute, it consumed what little time, energy, sunlight I had left in the day after working. It was so sad too, because my kids were little and I had VERY little left to give them after I came home.

So definitely take time to nurture yourself. I love what you mentioned yesterday, about leaving time open for opportunities and relationships.

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
yes, i should def change things up. who knows, maybe i'd even wind up meeting someone (although i doubt it as i mostly stay home on weekends or do my own thing / family / one friend...i'm not putting myself in any activities that would have me meet anyone new - and that's ok). so we shall see what this end of year concludes and how 2022 starts ;)

bearcountrygg on 10/04/2021:
I also agree with Donkey....I would get that school work done and turned in and be over with it......also your idea to spend more time on relationships sounds really good...... For many years D had a total of about 3 hours commute daily because he was in the Detroit local but we chose to live in the country.....( we had lived closer to the city for about 10 years....but spent the next 22 living further away)....he liked the longer commute...it gave him time to think about his day in the evening and plan the day for his crew the next morning...it was his decompressing time.....so he made it work for him. I was never more than half an hour from my job but I did learn to gauge my morning time by traffic and got it down to 20 minutes if I left at the right time.....That was about all of the commute time I wanted......with winter weather I do know that if I was single I would live near my job....several coworkers moved very close to work (within walking distance)for that reason.......

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
so glad the course is done. final exam was def time consuming. glad i pushed it and don't have it looming over my head anymore.

Maria7 on 10/04/2021:
Banana and coffee sounds good. Most of the time when I am at a store to buy bananas, they are green and even if I try to pick out the ripest of the greenies, they still do not ripen to taste sweet after getting them home. I know you will be happy to finish your exam tonite. Have a good day.

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
i am not too picky with bananas as the do tend to ripen fast and i'm always left with overly ripe ones!

bearcountrygg on 10/04/2021:
Good luck with you covid test.....is it too soon to test?? I've heard that it may turn out negative if done too soon.

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
it was since the guy was here last thursday...most places are only walk-in - with a wait - and no appointments can be made....not sure that will work...I may need to find a place where it's an appointment and not walk in...or try tonight for the walkin and if no good, make appoint for wednesday (since tuesday i can't as i have a course!) ugh!

innerpeace on 10/04/2021:
Good luck with you test. Since school as started we have gotten an email everyday telling us someone in the school has tested positive, that we would be contacted if our girl was a close contact and if she needed to quarantine. So far no call. It also goes on to read that if a mask is worn or if vaccinated this probably wouldn't affect the student...we will see.

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
thanks hopefully all works out and you will not have to nor the girlie

Jacky82020 on 10/04/2021:
Yuk! A covid test! Let us know how it goes. HUGS And don’t worry about a positive. Most ppl remain asymptomatic

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
they are all walk-in ...i might miss the deadline of closing time to get it done by me tonight or may have to wait a lot of time, fingers crossed that is not the case!

Jacky82020 on 10/04/2021:
Oddly enough my HMO just sent a email that said: walk into any express or urgent care for the covid test, meaning of course, one in their network

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
yeah, they need to revert back to appts, just for me! :) and all the appt places are too early!

KathyBlue on 10/05/2021:
HoP, I don't know if this can be valid at all, but if you find good quotes in that book you're reading - don't hesitate to share! :)

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2021:
yes, when i'm reading the book again, i'll share things :)...if there's anything short or simple to share here, which there is.

read up on courts changes to their website...reminder to do this.

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus." - to continue when i finish my class. - it's a leadership book.

...really glad i'm not going to take any more of these entry level types of courses. i can study this on my own, without paying $400 minimum per course either this way at the paralegal program or thru a college. need to move forward, no more courses. as i did the final writing assingment which was easy and totally more of a copy and paste of just finding answers and rewording or adding a little of my own experience in, i realized i shouldn't be doing this type of work again unless it's forced upon me - no more optional courses are on my horizon! :)

I really need to work to free up my time so i feel like my work / commuting / life is easier for the remaining time i'm at this job and/or next 2 years so if an opportunity comes to get a different job or a new relationship, i have the time and opportunity window open...in general i need to work to free up my schedule so i don't need to be taking days off because i cannot get what i need done on my regular days off....i'm looking to change my direction here. however, for the month of october, my days are packed still with other appts i have already scheduled - liked the free union courses. so this goal does begin the month of "lessening" the load, but i am sure i won't feel it lessened until a couple weeks or so from now or November.

Final exam: IN PROGRESS

10/3/21 Sunday

15 min slow but steady on indoor bike, recorded... :-)

8-8:30am Breakfast: coffee and pump pie large slice 400. :)

9:45am snack almonds with a dill pickle coating. (blue diamond brand) very good. 100

10:30 "Trolls" brand gummy peaches last of them 120...delaying doing homework, starting now.

1pm lunch: wrap 150, salmon negl not much, whipped cream cheese 100. 250; plantain chips 150, cherry cheesecake yoplait yogurt 150.550.

snacks: diet pepsi i had in the fridge;

4:30 healthy early dinner before lifting weights : leftovers from mom!...cauliflower 50 and roasted veggies150 , larger amount, small portion of steak 200, sourdough bread 150?

6:30 dried jackfruit 100 snack near end of workout, both upper and lower.

1850

Today's Plans: finishing the course - was in fact a bit "painful" as donkey would have descibed it perhaps. it's definitely a sign to stop with these fundamental, low level intro courses. i can do any further studying on my own. i've had ENOUGH!  I really wish that this TUESDAY i didn't have another darn course to listen to (free union zoom one), but i opted in...and i opt not to change that. it's just a littlle bit stressful as i would have liked a week without "another course!" lol. no biggie though. just sayin' that's life! :) like I say, "when you don't have kids, you have courses!" LOL!

- clean gp cages, possible extra load of my own laundry too. DONE!

- 4:30 PM Upper bod and lower bod exercises. :-D - stopping my studies, stopping starting the final, doing this as a nice break :).DONE!

Dye roots - freakin' DONE!

10/4/21 Monday - come home, do walking or bike at home. don't stay late to avoid more traffic on commute home. try to to some walking in AM before work.

11/1/21 - Monday, November 1st :)

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only -2 lbs to go!

Donkey on 10/03/2021:
Girl, get that course done! :-) Actually, just do what you feel that you can do, while still enjoying your Sunday.

Being a poll work sounds really exciting, but like you said, maybe not this year, just because of the time obligation. I thought that this would be a good thing for Husband to do, but with COVID, it was not an option for him, since he's in a higher risk category.

You've made me think more about taking time off. However, it's impossible to do with how busy with are PLUS the fact that Male Co-Worker is taking so much time off. Grr...

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
yes, would be a nice thing for hubby to do in future :) I won't do it this year, either. bc it's too close to the current date; and i'm going to try to work straight thru the rest of the year, to the best of my abilities. - until New Year.

Donkey on 10/03/2021:
PS Lower number on the scale! :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
def only a morning number...weighed myself late evening a day or two ago...112 or something ;)

haha...yes, i decided to bite the bullet and put the number down here...i've been even lower by a pound time to time in the AM. haven't gone below that though. :) i feel like it's stable enough after a few months of it, my weight, to list it.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
hoping the final exam is shorter than the midterm was...we'll see.

Jacky82020 on 10/03/2021:
Oh, very cool the Union has the online class!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
yeah, i'd like to just "listen in" and not be too active participating, we'll see.

bearcountrygg on 10/03/2021:
Money coming in is what makes everything else possible......I think it's a good choice to put the most effort into that...especially since doing the school work appears to be difficult to get done. Work is necessary......classes re optional at this time...I think you are making a good choice to stop classes for now.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
Thank you, Bear :)

Donkey on 10/03/2021:
Good luck on the final - then you will be DONE.

It will be a completely different experience with the union class. It won't be the same thing at all. A short break might have been nice, but believe me, the paralegal class is the one that is pain.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
if i don't finish that final tonight....it's due Wednesday ;) .... finishing this workout & hair dying comes first :)

agreed <3

have a good week :)

KathyBlue on 10/04/2021:
The Energy Bus sounds intriguing! You are making a good choice to stop classes for now, I agree! Work is life. Although it doesn't (shouldn't!) come as first prio in one's life, it's still something that is needed, important, and well, in general, we need to work most of our active adulthood lives. Some people start earlier, some start later, some retire sooner... but it's there, it's constant and very important for our wellbeing unless the person was born filthy rich already, hahah...

horn_of_plenty on 10/04/2021:
VERY WELL SAID. than you, Kathy :) yes.

Def having problems logging onto the site today - only worked on my phone using google chrome and I had to choose to continue to log on despite the security or certificate not right ....hopefully our webmaster will figure it out as it is an issue sadly !

I'm so glad we had this discussion here the other day and that's why I downloaded chrome on my phone and it's the only platform that even allowed me to choose to continue to this site - safari and google wouldn't allow it

Last TOM - 9/20/21....

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus." - to continue when i finish my class. - it's a leadership book.

10/2 Sat  -

Went walking for 45min to drop off a UPS package at a close drop-off site; then went to supermarket across street for a few things. added the time above (includes time in the stores, etc)..

Will see parents later for afternoon walking/bbq dinner. looking forward to it all.

Late 10am breakfast: banana and coffee 150, pump pie 200.

11:15am snack: strawberry 2% chobani 150

12:45pm Lunch: maybe toasted wrap 150 with whipped, extra amount of cream cheese 150 and lox 50 that i still have a good deal of (and expires in a week after opening)...350..

Late snacks: stale pop chips just opened and not expired ! And cranberry juice was really hungry after 1.5nice walk with parents 250

1100....

dinner bbq: tons of veggies will be available :) mom said she's preparing veggies to be grilled on bbq :)

snacks:

I will not be studying/paying for courses after i finish this one. I'm wrapping it up for the next whole year or more. I have decided to take a long hiatus from courses and concentrate instead of relationships with family and friends as well as cooking more and exercise.  I do want to read on other subjects, but i've decided i'm done being an "official" student in some program or another. I think i did more than i set out to do, getting a paralegal cert and some additional studies in 3 subgroups of paralegal work. now, i am finished for what i can see is a year and probably longer thereafter.

things can change, but, i think i'll have the current job i have for longer than a year or two (hopefully based on what i can tell....), so, I do not want to be studying the entire time - so i'm elminating that.  the long commute in itself is enough to attend to!  (i think part of the long commute is much more people on the roads, pandemic).  i think pre-pandemic, the commute might have been a little shorter on the way home, never really getting to be 2 hours + which now it can easily be on some days.

there's a little course thru the union i am attending, but it's "in person - realtime" only on zoom. it's not going to involve homework and assignments, plus it's free.

it's just funny how it begins practically the week this paralegal course ends lol. i like free learning and that's the biggest reason i'm attending, plus it's in the comfort of my apt. i can sit on an exercise bike during the zoom.

Business Law Course almost complete!  - Week 6 due 10/6/21 - Corporations and other Business Organizations:

Watching short class videos -- DONE!

BB6 - shorter, bulletin board assignment: IN PROGRESS

WA6 - Written Assignment:

Final exam:

May stop at supermarket that's not direct on the way home from parents tonight  to find the keto pizza that I have coupons for ....

10/3 Sunday

plan out / organize some work meals for at least monday/tuesday

read up on courts changes to their website?

sign up for mandatory video training for being a poll worker (might do it and take a day off work on election day - double pay that way for work and elections - also just a change from going to work...like a mini vacation of doing something different)....thinking to always have the ability to work as a poll worker, might be a nice option for life to do this annually or whenever electrions are held, why not!?

upper bod and lower bod exercises. :-D

Use my coupons on the Cali'flour pizza products. they are really good, manufaturer coupons they had sent me and some are for a free product; no purchases necessary. i love their pizzas but they are hard to find. keto pizzas that taste good.

dye roots..

Way to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/02/2021:
thanks, Little! there's a supermarket called "Lid'l" and it's making me want to write your name that way, Lid'l...! pronounced very similarly!

Donkey on 10/02/2021:
I applaud your decision to put your studies on an extended hiatus. You've done quite well to make it this far, especially with your commute now (which you did not have when you first started with your paralegal studies). Frankly, I'm impressed that you've made it this far without totally burning out.

And I think it's a GREAT idea to use your time, moving forward, to reconnect with friends and family, maybe getting re-involved with volunteering, allocating time for your fitness goals, etc. I can see you learning through reading on your own.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:
I hope i will be able to read on my own and not slack off...i will have to plan so that reading is pleasurable and then more learning oriented, maybe switching off. i guess i can even wait until January to even start to delve into that. may relax till then, since there's a lot of nice weather until then...and i should get off the couch more in the next few weekends.

thank you!

Jacky82020 on 10/02/2021:
Gee, weird my warning went away on the 3rd day on the iPad & popped up on yours. When I contacted the webmaster, she was unaware of it. She wasn’t seeing it on her browser when I saw it here with Safari. Harmless from what she says & likely to vanish as it did for me.

Weird popup on the fish forum that I got & most didn’t. A few others saw it. May have been for a dating site. LOL. I told everyone it should have been Plenty of Fish.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/03/2021:

1900....

Stayed home today, took the 1st of 5 sick days I have to use until May 1. Woke up in middle of the night again just to use the bathroom, but felt so so so tired and when my alarm went off in AM, i just felt i couldn't do the drive to work safely and also take care of myself with everything i've left hanging, particularly enough energy to lift weights (as well as the course work). so i'm off.

It was mostly to sleep in and not be rushing yet another day this week - really felt too tired this week. i'm sure this extra day will make everything better!  Haven't even went to the bathroom fully since last weekend. so, i am happy to be home to relax now....and after the walk, the bathroom item is fixed. That's another reason i went walking.

Decided on a 30 min walk in the late morning, before starting homework, to get activity in while the weather is nice and i have a lot of time...relaxed nice walk; dropped off maintenance check too. - DONE!

Most of my laundry also on the go as it built up fast this week - changing often bc piggies peed/pooped on me lol. DONE!

I will finish readings - DONE!

watching videos/taking short notes - IN PROGRESS

Today is for upper & lower body session, 4:30-6:30 with many breaks. etc. DONE!

then BB6...

and prob the BB6 Written Assignment too.

I may save the Final exam for tomorrow.

I will prep some veggies or at least organize them so i have easy to reach for things, especially a ready-made salad (add dressing later).

Cardio can be done on exercise bike possibly too

10/2 Sat - hopefully finish all reading during the weekdays, so i can just do the written homework - last weekend of work for Business Law Week #6!

May drive somewhere to go walking on my own - a park i haven't been to or something...we'll see.

Drive to UPS store tonight to drop off a package i'm returning (it was glass, it broke in shipping).

Horn_of_plenty on 10/02/2021:

Donkey on 10/02/2021:
Oh I hope you had a great day off - sounds like you got a LOT done! And good for you for knowing your limits. That's probably the best thing about this whole entry.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/02/2021:
thanks Jdonk! seems i really needed the day to "reset." it has also given me some wiggle room this weekend...spontaneously will go have dinner and also an afternoon walk with parents. also went out for a walk/pick of groceries this AM. it's nice to have the extra room. will also dye hair, maybe tomorrow instead of today. just a good thing to have the extra time both to relax, sleep in, and to get some little things done to feel a little more organized and content :)

Business Law almost complete!:  (short classes are nice, 6 weeks of studies goes fast and gives a nice background to all these advanced paralegal topics!)

  • Week 6 due 10/6/21 - Corporations and other Business Organizations (BB6, Writing 6, Final Exam...reading in progress. read 7 of 9 pages)  since only two pages, that is doable. should review videos Today or Friday after work.

9/30 Thurs - upper body tonight, legs tomorrow AM?  did  30 min cardio also before driving home today, then was in tons of traffic, so ordered some really nicely heavily sauteed mushrooms and broccoli raab from a very close to home pizza place and also self-washed the outside of my car at a gas station where they have a cool $5 self wash station including soap of course. i bring a towel to dry my car and it's just as good as a car wash...plus a little exercise for me!

skipped weights tonight bc got home late and do not want to use that much energy to lift. thinking to do weights in the AM...and then drive to work, not sure...

Breakfast banana coffee 150, wrap and small amount lox 200, cc 100. 450....

snacks: cookie, decaf coffee 150. 1 choc

lunch: salad with olive oil 100, wrap 150, sausage 150. 400

snacks:none

dinner: drank a large spoonful of the oil/butter sautee sauce bc i figure it's healthy 50, sauteed mushrooms 100, sauteed broccoli raab 100 tops, 2 peaches but had to cut some bad parts out of them 100, (350...)...pump pie 200

1600-1650....sleep around 9pm

Read for around 20 min in AM before driving to work. Walked 15 min, added in tally, before work. more traffic on road, even though i leave early. but i'm glad i got some walking in because i haven't been doing a lot of cardio this week and it wakes me up.

lots of cramping not sure why. it's uncomfortable. abdomen and right thigh (as usual always there) cramps since 2am and on and off this week. i've been having plenty of bananas. maybe not enough water (and too much caffeine).

Donkey on 09/30/2021:
I'm concerned about the cramping. I hope it's not too inconvenient. If it continues for a day or 2 more, please seek a medical evaluation. First thing I checked, too, was to see if maybe it was TOM related.

Hydration is probably a good place to start, since you already have been keeping up with the bananas. But seriously, I wouldn't let this go for too many days, especially if the pain starts to intrude on your day-to-day activity.

horn_of_plenty on 09/30/2021:
it's not very painful at all, just uncomfortable and wakes me up at night. during the day it's not as annoying...

Jacky82020 on 09/30/2021:
Sorry to hear about the cramping. Please see you’re adequately hydrated. Backslide on that myself & have to force down ice water. Lack of hydration can relate to poopie cramps. Keep us posted.

horn_of_plenty on 09/30/2021:
also i'm poop-blocked up...but that is most weeks, as i get busy and cannot relax enough to poop....

:-D i think i def need more water/veggies or something. and tonight NO diet soda (or beer or caffeine) at night..

Jacky82020 on 09/30/2021:
I never drink caffeine after the early afternoon and hate beer. Do drink diet root beer & ginger ale any time. Caffeine free.

Is the cramping any better now?

Horn_of_plenty on 10/01/2021:
it did in fact get a bit better with more water. i think it's related to doing more sitting lately. just weird how instead of just thigh pain, it was both abdomen and thigh...not really pain, just feeling of cramping.

i guess i needed more water like you said.

Jacky82020 on 10/01/2021:
Glad you’re feeling better! Keep swilling the good stuff!

drove in, wanted to sleep more. having a long week and not a lot of short weeks coming so i think i may need more sleep rather than waking up early to take public trans right now.  when i go to sleep, i decide sleep is better and not to also make myself skimp on sleep just to take public trans. i did read more last night, a page after dinner...so that's good for the class.

I walked 10 min before work, would have been more but there was a vehicle line just to get into work which wasted 5min...lol.

may do a little walking after i get home, or bike...but i want to get home early as the traffic starts to increase the longer i wait to go home....and i just want to drive home before the roads get worse today. will be happy to be home today :) feeling the need for more sleep this work week.

yes,i heard about the holiday change as some folks like to call it...

....LOL....everyone needs a holiday, Jacky! hahaha

Donkey on 09/29/2021:
As long as you have a plan to get the reading and homework in, there shouldn't be an issue with skipping the public transportation.

It's nice to hear that you have a nice balance between doing what you want to do (walking, weights, etc.) and studying. I'd be so worried about getting the classwork done, that I think it would dominate my time, which is miserable, to be honest.

Thank you for your description of your weight training in yesterday's comments. From a maintenance perspective (where you're at), it was very helpful. I can see how one can still keep maintenance weight training challenging (and interesting, if you know what I mean).

Thanks, I’ve always thought so. Have a lifelong permit for American Bald Eagle feathers that come from the National Eagle Repository in Colorado. Stopped at maybe 20 large ones & many smaller ones. Strictly illegal to own unless one belongs to a federally recognized tribe, not a state tribe. Bunch of bogus state groups. Losers!

I've always wondered about lox...are they raw?

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2021:
it looks raw but is slightly smoked. smoked salmon = lox.

happy-1 on 09/28/2021:
I vote for the beach.

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2021:
haha, beach :)

little_one on 09/28/2021:
I'm really confused as to what you are asking. It's been a longish day so I get confused easily. LOL.

Way to go on the weight loss.

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2021:
thats ok.

thank you!

Donkey on 09/28/2021:
Do you lift heavy? Or do you lift lighter with more reps?

horn_of_plenty on 09/29/2021:
heavy...if i am feeling weak, i do an extra set with lighter weights after my 3 sets on the heavy side. if i can't complete 3 reps at normal weights, i go lighter for the rest and add a set. (maintenance of strength can vary week to week, especially if workouts start to be skipped, i'll have to work my strength back up..) if that makes sense. i try to get up to 12 reps at heavy weights...seem i never really get past that so i'm usually using the same weights as always if that makes sense. i don't really go up in weight anymore since reaching where i am at now. it's really just maintenance at this time. i may put together using my alternative weights that i can adjust a higher weight for biceps...right now do #40 but not with good form...but i may do an adjustable that is #42..just biceps are that high...

a lot of my upper body strength i think is from pushups. i do up to #50 in a set, fast, i don't think i go all the way up...and when i get weaker, i do more smaller rep sets...like 10, rest quick, 10, rest, 10, etc. to 50...i do some other moves also similar to a pushup to keep my strength up...will discuss later. in maintenance but many times need to do a little more to keep what i have..

 20.25 Sept Sunshine Hours!

22.25 August Sunshine Hours!

Last TOM - 9/20/21....

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus." - to continue when i finish my class. - it's a leadership book.

2022 and beyond - Studies/Thoughts:

continue short advanced paralegal 6-week courses (there's a list of 16 or so and i plan to take up to 6 total; i am now finishing my 3rd) in 2022?  If i do all 6 of my choice, i can get a college completion certificate from an affiliated New York State college. i don't need it, but it's a good challenge. will cost around $1200 total more.

can prob get reimbursed this time for the above approx costs, unlike last time when i didn't apply for reimbursement in the same year so my window of opportunity for reimbursement closed. just saying, i can study "free of charge" as it was my father's money to me in a fund and still has leftover.

read about leadership on my own, do not pursue degrees/payable coures. study it on my own. I had been thinking to do a 3 course program as an "advanced degree" which is similar to courses thru a master's program. it's short, so it's still something of interest, but i'm thinking reading books about leadership/management may be suitable instead of paying a university...just thinking i have only like 15+ years of good working ahead of me...and that's just enough time to get into the courts and work there doing my best, prob won't become a leader.

...so that's why this is just good "reading material" and not necessary courses i should lay out money for. i'm 39, so in 15 years, i'm approx 55 (i think this is older than Donkey is now so she can relate in terms of changing positinos/fields...maybe also LegCramps can relate to this..)...- if anyone else has any thoughts, please offer yours! - Bear, InnerP, Jacky, Brett, Maria, etc..Kathy) and would prob have gotten up to whatever highest position i'll do for the rest of my life by then (i do not anticipate a lot of changes after that, of course you never know - but that's just my gut talking!) so, administratively, i don't think business courses are suitable now. a few more of the 6 week advanced paralegal courses would be, though. then, i'd be done with them by 2023. no more school after that, i don't think? and hopefullly applying for paralegal by then / it's called court assistant in the courts, actually.

NYS (New York State) courts has updated it's site, very very slightly, organizing the careers/professions that include public exams and which don't.  i've always known this, i'm just saying it's much more organized on their site - which may mean they are getting ready to administer tests again and also looking to educate the public for the public positions.

the site also includes some (very little, but it's been upated) extra reading material on the exams and prep. I will update myself. still no exams upcoming or anything, but the site has slight material added to it. so will take a look.

Business Law almost complete!:  (short classes are nice, 6 weeks of studies goes fast and gives a nice background to all these advanced paralegal topics!)

  • Week 6 due 10/6/21 - Corporations and other Business Organizations ( BB6, Writing 6, Final Exam....same plan, to do the majority of this week's readings on public transport during my commutes, rather than using up time at home during the week that i'd rather be relaxing after work and time on weekend i'd rather be spending doing the written work after readings...

9/27 Mon - maybe public trans in; reading of week 6 materials

Jacky82020 on 09/27/2021:
You plan to retire at 55? Ppl I know say they either can’t afford it or it gets boring. Maybe different if one has resources and something worthwhile/enjoyable to do.

Did you see the 100 year old park ranger on the news who’s retiring? Wonder Woman!

horn_of_plenty on 09/27/2021:
No - I’m thinking at 55 hopefully I will remain at that position awhile or work in relatively the same role from there until like 60+

horn_of_plenty on 09/27/2021:
I’ve gotta look that woman up!

But yeah, I will prob continue to work at least part time in my 60s most probably!!! I plan to work past 55 for sure - just don’t really see myself progressing to higher responsibilities after that age , although you never know

Jacky82020 on 09/27/2021:
Long time away! You saying it will take you until 55 to be settled in a profession? I guess I’m missing something. That seems unlikely.

horn_of_plenty on 09/28/2021:
no no, i am saying i don't think i'll be promoted much after 55...

I hope to be "settled" by 45-48, actually. maybe sooner. depends on NYS courts and if i get in. if i don't, i will have to rethink a bit...but i have good opportunitites to get my foot in the court door :)

so i hope to get in by 45; mostly settled 55 with maybe a promotion or so...and by 55 mostly working where i'll be, possibly small promotions.

Jacky82020 on 09/27/2021:
Well, I guess it all depends. The job promotions on the job.
