Work: perfect ripe banana 120, coffee with milk and stevia 50, wrap 100 with sf jelly and pb 150. 420.

Snack: cashews!!! 280 too many, i know :) when i run outta cashews it will be a good thing!!!!!!! moving onto salted peanuts for awhile afterwards. the smaller the nut the better! cashews are too easy to eat too many of!

Lunch: healthy- 2 egg whites, 1 full egg 110 total, veg 200 with a few noodles, Stacy's Pita chips YUM original flavor 300: 650 tops

Snack: peach 50


Snack before GYM SESSION Special K pastry crisps 100 and sf drink


After gym: not sure but i think it'll be ice cream and chips lol. 550



TOM (Time of Month) is here and i am of course slightly backed up but better than i used to be on this day. I credit my usual kombucha habit as being helpful with my digestion lol...it's a very slow moving period this time around. It's early and I'm VERY happy about it bc if it comes this time next month, it'll be directly before my Vegas trip. That's good.  Also it's good it's sorta here now bc the parade is Saturday and hopefully tomorrow will be a heavier day and Saturday it'll cool off a bit. I think bc it's so slow this time around will be ok this month. OK, no more on this topic! I know, TMI!

Saturday is the NYC Labor Day Parade and my birthday. Not sure what i'm doing to celebrate as it's totally 100% based on my parents and really i do not care. I'm so busy so really it doesn't matter...I've got a trip to Medellin, Columbia coming up on the 21st, in just 2 weeks!  So, as you can imagine, I'm just keeping my head above water now by keeping regular workouts as much as possible, working, and doing a few weekend activities also.

I'll start packing soon for the trip - I will NOT leave it to last minute - planning to pack by next weekend. - maybe even starting to pack this SUNDAY thinking about it.  Which reminds me, I still need to call my bank to warn them of this travel plan to Columbia from 9/21 to 9/24 as well as Vegas in mid-October for like one more day than this trip is. Both trips are short as I'm saving around 5 days for December purposely to be off before I start up with the NYPD academy.

Wow Columbia. I've seen you mention Columbia before and i was thinking South Carolina or something. Are you going with friends and/or family. I had to google this place. What are you going to do there? So Exciting for you!

I'm going to Columbia with a long-time friend that i only met ONCE for two weeks almost. We toured Israel 8 years ago together and she lives now in Fort Lauderdale, Florida but actually is now spending some time in Nashville with friends bc of the hurricane. I plan to fly down to Fort Lauderdale and meet her at the airport there and we will fly to Columbia together! That's not my plan, but how it worked out by booking the flight with Spirit Airlines and we are really excited about it! I'm i think 6 years older than her or something like that.

6:30am Home: Probiotic drink that i don't love...must stop buying these drinks that simply aren't as good as the kombucha...this was the last time! lol.  i buy them bc they are even lower sugar but they do not work as well or taste as good. 50 cal. Mango Coconut flavor but not great.

Breakfast: huge banana 150, coffee with milk and sugar 70, wrap 100 with extra cream cheese 100 and salami 100.  520. 

snack? 300 cals in cashews...and they have hardly any fiber, tasty...but doubt i'll buy again? bc i constantly eat too many...but they're new and it's good to get into something besides almonds right now! LOL. i guess i'm a little bored!

1pm lunch:600 all yummy and balanced (hair of noodles (angel hair!), but mostly veg, most of a turkey burger and Stacy's Pita Chips in plain flavor = so good!)

snack: plum

There's a NYC Police Band. After the acadmey and after I gain experience as an officer, in 2020, I plan to be ready to play French horn in the band!  I'll have to practice starting at least a year or two before. So i'll start practicing probably fall of 2018 :) and be ready for 2020. wowwww...talk about planning in advance :)


Today's a rainy day so I am not going to run or exercise (did gym already yesterday) after work.  I'll run FRIDAY EVE outside in the sun and gym again tomorrow as I do prefer jogging after a gym day.  I'll be walking a lot Saturday, but i'll try to be not too strenuous during the jog the evening before. It'll be more a workout on speed / endurance: run 1 lap, walk 1 lap, etc for 2 miles and may even knock that down to only 1.5 miles on friday night, we'll see - not looking to knock myself out too much as you can see!  I'd rather rest up for the parade the next day but not about to skip an entire week of jogging practice.

Parade Saturday and rest day Sunday. I can do it :-P  Feeling surprisingly good.

Well you have some fun stuff coming up...did you play the French horn in school? Is it going to be a new hobby? As delish as cashews are...they can give you a belly ache is too many are eaten at one time...someone gifted us a HUGE container once and we learned the hard way...I googled it and yup...it's a thing! Then a while later my Dad was saying how he was enjoying cashews and I mentioned the tummy ache and he said he had not been feeling well either...yup...cashews strike again...I swear...they are addictive...but they need to come with a warning.

lol they are addictive and have like no fiber so i keep eating too many...no stomachaches over here! haha.....

i went to college and played horn throughout. my training is to be a music teacher (band). I performed a mini recital in college playing the horn....and for the past 10 years i've barely touched it. but after 1-2 years of practice, my lips will have the endurance and muscle to one day play again in a band. I'll see if i like it...and if i do enjoy practicing, i'll begin to practice until i'm good enough to play in the nypd band (takes time to work the lip muscle to make it strong just like a runner has to exercise his legs to run faster....and it takes months if not a couple years to sound good again after not practicing for awhile - i know from experience!). I played from the age of 12 thru age 24 or so.

Home: vinegar drink 50 (will force myself to drink the 2 remaining flavors before buying new...or at least drink 1 lol of the remaining flavors before buying more on Wednesday or thursday after work this week...)

8am Breakfast: wrap 50, extra pb 200, banana 120, coffee with milk 50. 420.

11am Snack: lovely lightly salted CASHEWS 230 loving them instead of almonds right now!

Lunch: healthy of course! leftover pita chips that are pretty good but not buying again bc very artificial tasting / too  much cheesy taste on them.  I like the brand but not this variety. will buy new chips Wednesday during work lunch tomorrow! and lots of veg and turkey burger! :) calories later: turkey burger 200 cal, chips 300 cal, veg 200 cal...700...bigger lunch bc indulged in chips. will prob do this for most of this week.

Snack in PM 3:30 or later: plum 50

Snack before gym: granola bar 100...

After gym: cookie? TBD! probably a cookie. protein cookie with PLENTY of carbs too. It's great after a strenuous weights routine, trust me! yup cookie 360 and chips 190. 550.

total is pretty decent at 2100.

4day avg: 2175 per day, good.


I slept at least 9 hours if not closer to 10.  So nice.  Yes, i had taken a sleeping pill but also overate on volume, not really calories, and was feeling all outta sorts last night. Happy to sleep more.  While i'm still groggy now at work from a sleeping pill, i am glad to get a little rest in because it's going to be a very busy week.

While I only have plans for 1 jogging session this week and my two regular workouts, I plan to get it all down between now and Friday. Saturday I am not jogging bc instead there's a NYC Labor Day Parade which I am marching in. And because it'll be plenty of walking, I decided the best bet for me is to do one jogging session and count the other as Saturday's walking in the parade.

What I think is my plan for the week is as follows:

Tues: Gym 1

Wed: Jog 1

Thurs: Gym 2

Fri: OFF

Sat: Labor Day Parade (have to get up sorta early in AM) (walking counting as second Jog 2 session)  AND MY 35th BIRTHDAY also 9/9!

Sun: OFF 

I'm good with the schedule above.  It's plenty for this short week.  I only need to pick up some bananas and then kombucha later in week and that's the only food shopping I am planning since I bought a TON on Saturday which was only veggies so it's still fresh (prepared food). I planned for an easy week on purpose.

Next, from now until my trip to Columbia on 9/21, I have planned for NO other activities during the week aside from workouts. No errands no extra stops. NOTHING. I want to keep it this way. I am trying to lower my stress leading up to a midweek trip. I now know I am not even stopping at parents' house like on thought on 9/20 in evening for holiday bc my mom said she's not doing it then (Jewish holiday)....so, it's cool as I'll get outta work early the night before my trip which is perfect...Everything looks good coming up!

 It’s so nice on a day I would have usually had NO PLANS to walk over to his apt (literally a 5 min walk away!) and watch a movie together. At home, I wouldn’t even get into watching a movie due to my own ability to distract myself all day long from accomplishing even a movie…so, it’s been nice with this friend. He’s helped me use my “relaxing time” more wisely….It’s nice to get thru a movie have dinner with someone and still feel relaxed after. I didn’t have this option with my former best friend so this is a nice change...

I'm glad you enjoyed your night dinner and a movie, always fun. You have a trip coming up, that's definitely something to look forward to! I also have a trip on the 23rd, I am going to visit my Mom and brother, and taking bf with me. First time they'll meet! Yikes.

breakfast: plum 50, big banana 150, oatmeal with cashew milk 200, peanut butter but couldn't finish 200, cinnamon, stevia 600...and will have kombucha type drink low sugar 10 of which i'll buy more soon.

660.... Sautéed Brussels sprouts big serving 350 and shrimp 100 and plum 50 1160 and like 6 McD's fries 1200 :-) Early dinner : 800 at least 2000 total and bed early 3 day avg 2200 per day good.


2day avg weekend Saturday & Sunday: 2300 (too high oops) i totally forgot to record for saturday that i had a zillion tortilla chips!


Yesterday (sunday)  morning I heard unexpectadly of the death of one of my neighbors in my apt building. Funeral was quick yesterdayat noon - I mean the actual service was longlike 1.5 hours but from the time he passed on Saturday night till funeral straight thenextday Sunday it was right away which is how orthodox jews custimarily do it....

Many important people, active and retired live here in my apt building bc of the location and other reasons. It's an affordable apt but still very special place with hardly any other like it in all of Queens and NYC.

Anyways, he was only 46, a father of 4, active in his religious activities, and active politically as one of our assemblymen! He died of a long-time battle with cancer. It's very sad. His children are mostly high school / college age but the 4th child, a little girl, is only 7. So early to lose her father. Unlike so many families i think in the Jewish orthodox faith, their mother works in the schools as a social worker.  

She has obviously at least a master's degree then and she's brilliant. I have met her several times and spoken to her. She's in her 40s too. It's so sad that such a good man (he was known for his honesty, integrety and lack of any kind of ego or mindset of being superior. He felt proud to serve his community both politically and religiously and was a good man and father and husband and son and uncle and cousin and brother as well :) ...i am thankful i attended the furneral bc there was probably 500 people there and the people that spoke were mostly rabbis in addition to family members and the speaches were not only loving and generous but powerful, educational, and amazingly written to teach us what life is really about and people of true integrity. It's a sad loss for all.

yes, that's what the rabbis said! They said it's god who puts you on this earth and takes you off...but it's also god you turn to for solace...(especially his family bc they are very traditionally religious). not as much in my case....but it was very appropriate to this family. So sad you are right it doesn't seem fair...but at least he's remembered as being so giving, so good, so helpful, so honest, so purely loving to all!

Not a day for laundry or cleaning a hamster cage!

Today's plan is simple - a jog soon. More relaxing. Cut up / prepare some veggies for bbq. go to bbq with my friend. Enjoy the bbq and alcoholic drinks and bbq food. 

Last night before gym i did a fast food shopping of hot prepared food. I am cooking eggs now and have leftover turkey burgers also in the fridge that i cooked i believe Wednesday night. I have enough food now to last pretty easily i think until NEXT FRIDAY woohoo!

Glad i went to see what the hot selection of food was because they were full of great food - all kinds of salads and specialty prepared items like sauteed eggplant and all kinds of squash and sauteed bean sprouts and just everything you'd wish for include a potato and cabbage salad!

Def have a lot of food and so happy about it because i will not have to do many extra errands this week!

2250 and I went to gym! Can't wait to fully sleep in and only have to jog tomorrow!

I was home around 7:30 after doing all errands including the ones i was going to do on Saturday. This is good. 

Saturday is for being lazy in morning on couch. No laundry will be done Saturday. Just a jog and preparing some cut up veggies for a bbq in the later afternoon! :) That's it. Mostly a rest day and SUNDAY is a rest day ALSO - no scheduled exercise at all. Maybe a movie in afternoon either at home or theater.

Monday, Labor Day, will be at a local Queens beach called Riis Park.

Weekly average cals were high but within range: 2200 per day = not the worst at all! But want to do better this coming week!


Home: kombucha 70 (actually it was a different type no wonder my stomach was a mess)

Breakfast at work: energy drink that i'll have more of later before GYM (tomorrow will be the jog) no cal drink, lots of spread on a wrap 300, banana 120, no coffee: 420... 

Very big snack of 1.5 servings cashews (very nice taste after months and maybe even over a year of almonds) 300 cal...

Lunch: will be at desk: so healthy some cabbage mixed with sauteed eggplant 150, turkey burgers higher fat 250, chips 2 servings 250: 650 and same large caffeine drink that i'll have now and later :) 

1500 after healthy & balanced lunch.


As for activities this afternoon: LESS IS MORE.

We are getting out of work at 2pm!

So I just need to go to a Brazilian laser appt locally at 2:30pm for bikini areas lol that i paid for with a discount of around $500-$600 dollars (full thing cost me only around $150 instead of like $600-$700!...and jogging. that's all i'm doing today bc i am TIRED!! only like 5 hours sleep....and i prefer like 8 hours.

I am quite tired since i got home 11pm last night and bed was late around 12:30pm after showering and playing (for a little bit really just treating his eye) with my hammy. 

I am no longer waking up hammy in the morning or evenings to treat the eye. Only when he's already up will i do it, in evening, mostly with water now as i don't have much ointment left anyways.  no more vets.  no money or time to go there / pay for hamster medicine bc hammy only lives for 2-3 years.


I should be at the track jogging by 3:30-4pm or so is my plan and home by 5:30pm LATEST - which is good because that's a lot of extra activities done and still getting home really decent timing for dinner and bed!

Will NOT pick up some cooked veggies for dinner & weekend as i do not have enough food options at home!  ! (maybe not, just want to jog and go home!)

I may just jog later instead of gym and rest home tonight... GYM can be tomorrow, yes.  usually i like gym day before jog day but it really doesn't matter today, i'm tired and want to do the least time consuming exercise so that i can get home as quickly as possible in order to veg on the couch.

And i will jog at park which has great parking instead of the college track. Taking a break from the track for the park...to see how much better i've gotten (will try to jog 1.5 mi straight at the park which is 2x around the big track!)

I will. I admit that i am overtired, but will have some kinda caffeine to pump me along so that i do not skip it!

Lately, i try VERY hard not to skip bc i only am going 2x a week. I try to jog for another 2x per week.

And those 4 days are totally ENOUGH commitment-wise for me. :) So i try not to skip out on those 4 days!!! :)

Thank you. It's not that I always like being this busy - but it's not a choice so much with my work schedule and decision to keep fitness in the picture....!

There was a time when i had a small breakdown and had to take a MONTH off from work bc i was extremely run down and very sick. I learned from that - and that I have the option to either let life get me down or forge ahead with life. And now I choose to get through it all (but also work to get more sleep and have less caffeine usually).

Sleep and caffeine were totally out of range that time when i was sick - so i've learned to be a little healthier in those two categories but also learned that if i want to be successful, i cannot allow life to take me down! :-P

Dinner was a big beer, taste of whiskey, lots of pita chips with guacamole, salsa ,and some mango salsa, and two really tasted cooked shrimp in the best sauce ever! :)

I have heard the opposite that it's difficult...but...lately i see better ways to maybe drink something for the gut in the morning....they sell products that are CONCENTRATED gut shots ...so i can buy one container with like 8 servings in it and try again adding it to water so i don't have to shop for so many bottles?! i need to find a better way to solve my desire of loving to drink something slightly sweet, carbonated, and probiotic each morning...

i love kombucha but get nervous for always needing to buy 16 oz bottles...need to delve into gut shots.

I heard the opposite that kombucha is SMELLY & DIFFICULT to make...i haven't delved into it...i don't even see myself delving anytime soon. Also, i once saw a class being given, but it was too far a drive away (2 hours) and i wasn't up for the long drive by myself.

2175 4-day average thru Tuesday - a bit high but i am rolling with the punches right now bc i've had a really active social life / new experiences and it meant being very tired on Monday/Tuesday (i may have been hungover Monday).  Now that it's Wednesday, I'm FINALLY feeling much better....I DID GO TO THE GYM TUESDAY! IT WAS GOOD! I DID GO TO BED EARLY TUESDAY NIGHT, but woke up for only an hour from 2am-3am...then went back to sleep :)

EDIT: not feeling energized therefore skipping the gym to go home to sleep early again tonight. not feeling great, need rest.

Bed as early as i possibly can...which will not be very early! LOL...

Hamster's eye is still infected but now the infection is more in one place just like a human stye in the eye....I see the visible infection and i think it's clearing up..like when i get a stye in my own eye. 

1650 before gym, 350 after 2000 and will have a banana and on 2250 today

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

YES...and i'm supposed to give it the eye ointment everyday, 2x a day for TEN days....I'm now onto DAY 12 today....the infection is now visible like a stye when i open the eye...it just needs to ERUPT or go away. It's white visible puss filled spot. Maybe i bring back to the vet if it looks like it can be removed via the vet just like the doctor sometimes slashes off a stye? What do you think????

Would he let you put a tiny warm compress on it for a minute? I mean on the outside of his eye area. Nothing of course that could burn...maybe it would burst,,,also make sure you disinfect your hands before and after looking at it if you are going to touch around his eye...for your safety and his. But all in all...if there is improvement I'd keep an eye on it for a few days.

i was thinking this....for the same reason ok....i'll keep an eye on it...and maybe it'll burst with compress...the hamster may not allow a compress...it may fight me...i'll keep watching and treating it!

Could you possibly warm a wash cloth and hold it on the side of his face...maybe he would like that.

will try this....but with a small cotton round :) same approach, yes. I will try to do it so the warm round touches the white infection at the eyelid right when i open the eye i see it.

I hope your hamster gets better. I know about being tired. I took a 35 minute nap last night after I got home. I was falling asleep in the the recliner and just took a nap with DH when he went to bed. I did feel much better.

:-) Hamster is dealing well with it :-) But it sorta cools off too fast....but it's all working out :)
