Home: kombucha but i didn't really require it and it didn't work...i didn't eat much volume yesterday so i don't think i even needed a #2....sorry for the info! so i didn't even after a full bottle of kombucha. 60.

9am Breakfast at work: coffee 50 and banana 120, wrap 80 with pb and sf jelly 200, some candies 50. total here: 500.

no morning snacks - not in a hungry mood this week. appetite is actually sorta suppressed i don't know why.

lunch: chips 100, very few veggies bc my stomach doesn't want them (Time of Month) 50, bigger turkey burger 200 350 small lunch.

snack before gym: 120

Total today is 1600

1850 6-day average! Going to be a nice average for this week! yay! needed lower totals.

Plan is for the gym tonight.  This week I skipped a jogging session, it's ok. I preferred my usual gym routines over an extra jog.  But the rest of the month it is my priority - jog 2x a week. I'll let it go this week due to funeral stuff - good enough excuse.

Last night, I went early to bed it wasn't even 7pm by the time i hit the covers.  I was exhausted from a lack of sleep every night since Saturday night.  I was able to recooperate a bit by going to bed early Wednesday into Thursday and Thursday now i can go to gym...not in a jogging mood plus it's extermely humid so the gym will be better after work. I'm only jogging 1x this week instead of 2 due to planning problems and being exhausted yesterday bc of funeral engagements with family earlier this week.

I didn't even play with my hamster last night.....needed sleep and no more time but sleeping time after I ate!

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Does your hamster drive a Kia Soul?

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/14/2017:
wow kia soul is cheap....i should get one for myself - forget about my GB Boy hammy!

bearcountrygg on 07/14/2017:
The hamster that we used to have liked to bite....you are lucky to have a nice one.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/14/2017:
yes, my hamster is the tamest type - a Syrian "Teddy Bear" long haired hamster. He does not hardly bite at all...once or twice at the beginning he took a light nibble but that has stopped. He doesn't seem to want to mess with me :-) Very well behaved and easy to pick him up.

happy-1 on 07/17/2017:
I say Kia soul because they have the most amazing car ads with hamsters. I fell victim to the ads and bought one. Should have bought a matrix

Hey there...I signed in after reading your July 6th post...Sorry about your Grandma. My Grandma passed at 96 also. Thank you for sharing with all of us about your Grandma's passing. Sometimes prolonging the inevitable may not be the best, most humane answer as your post showed. I loved your message that you read at her funeral. It was so loving and such a wonderful message of how you felt about her growing up and even to now, too and it shows the effect she had on your life as well as others. I know she was a very wonderful person. My GM was, also. Glad you are taking good care of you, HOP. Sometimes we think we have to take care of everybody else except ourselves and put ourselves last if at all, ha. Have a good evening. :-)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 07/12/2017:
Thanks so much for your kind words and message, Maria. It means a lot!

And yes, now is not a good time for me for putting myself last as it’s coming close to the time that I need to have my own personal training and health as good as it can be before I go and change jobs for the definitely last time in my life. I have no more time to waste for work (I used to waste all my personal time by working overtime and then skimp on sleep to go and exercise which isn’t a good lifestyle to have in the long run and is detrimental and caused multiple injuries as well as emotional breakdowns) – so I know my limits slightly better and know I cannot keep skimping on my training for jogging and passion also of weightlifting when I already do them each only 2x per week for each activity and it’s really already minimal…..so I’m content with the decisions that I made.

Horn_of_plenty - Monday Jul 10, 2017
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 115.0

I got home Monday night at 11pm....so late!!!! (the shiva / visiting hours end at 9pm so i had NO IDEA people would stay so late last night and i of course stayed as it's my own dad's mother who passed away duh!) and I went to bed like midnight or so and woke before 6am to get ready for work.

I hope to catch up on sleep tonight & will probably leave my parents earlier  than i did last night. It's too much right now with work everyday - very tiring to have to wake up early and go to bed late every night including Sunday night....Tuesday i'll go EARLY from work straight to my parents by around 2pm i'll get there...stay till around 8pm i think or maybe even earlier like 7:30 because it's way too tiring to keep going to bed so late it's exhasting with work!)

and then it becomes very hard to exercise after work when tired....and gets you run down. i do not need to get sick or very run down right now.

I am in the height of my training for jogging. No more time to waste.

Summer is the last stretch....where i am learning to jog completely by end of summer (without needing to constantly walk inbetween the jog).

3:45 am hungry so had banana 120

6:30am kombucha 80

8:30am coffee 50, banana 120 170

Work Breakfast: wrap with pb and sf jelly 300,

Light lunch: half avocado on wrap with egg.... 150, 100, 100: 350

bar before gym 140

dinner at home and cookie at parents: up to 900.

total calories  for Monday is approx 2050.

3 day average: 1950, excellent.

Having a tired day, now 12:40pm at work, will prob have energy drink before gym today....probably. bc i am tired and i'll drink it on way home / gym to change into gym clothes (should have brought them to work in my car but i forgot!).

I am leaving work early to exercise at gym (bc i am not going to go to work and only see my parents tonight at the shiva...i WILL TAKE CARE OF MY OWN PERSONAL BUSINESS and that means taking care of myself and not skipping out on my workouts that i already have decreased to only two gym sessions a week instead of my 3 because it was too stressful and not enjoyable for me now that i've added in 2x per week running).

With the academy so close and my goal to be jogging steadily by end of summer, i have lots of work to do.

The GYM for me with weightlifting is fun. But i don't want to lose all my strength. I try to make the only 2x per week sessions - and that is why i'm telling my boss i have to leave early at 2pm (instead of 5pm) bc of family shiva (how we observe it at home at specified hours) but keeping to myself that i'll be exercising FIRST and then coming home to shower and drive ot my parents.

I am an adult and boss of my life.  I will do what i need to do so that i don't "F" up my life anymore than it already is in terms of my salary / current employment and line of work :-)

I am usually an honest person - and that is why i do not regret this choice in the least and feel my grandma would even support it. I even told my dad my plan that i'm leaving early, DOING WHAT I HAVE TO DO (that's what i said to my dad) and then later driving to him tonight.

I'm happy.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Take care of yourself HOP! I'm glad you are taking off early for your personal time. You deserve it.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/11/2017:
yes...i don't regret it in the least bc if i didn't go to the gym either Monday or Tuesday there's a huge chance i'd have to skip one of the two sessions....and there's just no more time in my life to put my important activities to me on hold. Especially now.

thank you for the support. Today i'll leave early, but to go home to my parents like i could have yesterday (but felt it was more important to go to gym because my dad knows he has my support and i was with my grandma so often while she was alive - my dad understands completely!!) i am lucky.

happy-1 on 07/10/2017:

Well done!

Thank you for your helpful feedback on my diary. I'll be taking at least one break during the drives down and back this week. To ensure this, I will not hold back on my water drinking - something I tend to do on long trips.

Plus, my husband, understanding my stress, has arranged for us to take another route that will avoid some of the really scary highway driving. Bless him <3

horn_of_plenty on 07/10/2017:
Excellent planning yes ! And also try to prevent yourself from feeling highway driving is so scary as you can do anything ! Remember this :) I once also had much anxiety with driving. Remember that you can come above this and yes take the breaks on your drive. I have a story to share another time of someone I learned about who let her anxiety keep her home for good = no good.

Funeral is SUNDAY so work will be as planned.

I will leave at 4:30 today with short lunch so i can get to the gym a bit earlier. since i was up so late last night anyways it's better to try to get decent sleep tonight before work again tomorrow.

My grandma passed away last night so this is what i'll say at her funeral, probably on Sunday:

Grandma Ruthie has always come across to me as my own personal all-star Wonder Woman because she always had the power to do most anything & everything.  Especially when it came to solving problems.  Whenever Sharon & I would fight and argue as little kids in her apartment, grandma would say exactly the right thing and magically she’d put an end to our quarrels in just seconds. I do not remember what she said exactly as it was so long ago – but I definitely remember that our sisterly feuds would end faster than they began whenever we were visiting grandma at her 6th floor Parsons Blvd apartment. I will never forget the heat in that place. It was always at least 80 degrees or higher when we visited…Grandma was always up and moving about, never sitting still, always doing something in her apartment and because she was so active and lead such a healthy lifestyle, grandma was my fit, strong & smart Wonder Woman.

And how grandma Ruthie loved to move and dance…She would take her husband Louie and walk down to the senior center where Sharon and I joined them on a few occasions as little kids…grandma was known to be a great dancer by all in her senior center days and that’s when I was only still in elementary school visiting her with my sister…and still after that time, grandma Ruthie kept dancing. Years later when I was in my mid-20’s visiting her, grandma was now around 85 years old in her new apartment, everyone would call her by her new nickname,“Cha-Cha,” because she brought her dancing with her wherever she went…they all knew she loved to move.  Grandma wasn’t a couch potato.

Grandma always had this everlasting energy…she always had even more than me.  I’d visit her when she was close to 90, and we’d walk a mile easily in Kew Gardens around the park.  On our walks, we’d sometimes stop at Baskin Robbins for a small cup of strawberry ice cream, her favorite. Grandma would always sit patiently for me outside on her walker as I ran in to get us the ice cream. Grandma was always patient. She never, ever, complained.  She was so happy to walk with me – and I was so happy to actually be able to exercise during my visit with her!. We even made some friends at the park - regulars we’d see each weekend when I’d go and visit her.  I was always amazed by her strength and ability to walk a normal pace not the pace of any typical 85 to 90 year old lady.   And she didn’t just amaze me, she amazed everyone.

We’d come back to her room, have lunch of Pastrami sandwiches that I bought earlier and then I’d heat up in her microwave…and sometimes I’d accidentally fall asleep while we watched tv…but she was always awake because my Grandma had super-strength energy.

And even though Grandma was a strong lady, she didn’t get her super strength by spending hours at the gym.  She did housework. Lots of housework.  She loved to clean. She’d clean everyday. I remember my parents talking how she’d need another new vacuum bc of all the extensive vacuuming she was doing everyone that she must have worn out another one.  Her apartment was always spic and span perfectly clean when we’d visit.  It would look so neat and tidy, ready for company at any minute of any day. She took pride in her work at home.

And Grandma took pride in herself.  And had the biggest heart for her family.  The way she dressed and all her mannerisms was always of a well-educated and professional lady.  Grandma had so much to teach us about strength and wisdom and I am very fortunate I was able to get to know her as first a child, then a teenager, later a young woman and now the adult I am today.  And thankful she can rest in peace with her husband, Grandpa Louie.

Sorry if too detailed - but below is about my Grandma's Passing Away, last night (not to be said at funeral, but i'm writing it here):

My grandma (my dad's mom) passed away and I am so thankful I was able to be with my dad who was with her also when she died last night.

She passed away at the nursing home where she was at for the past month.  She was moved a month ago when she got an infection from her feeding tube. And she passed away because of complications with the feeding tube infection which spread thru her digestive system and up her esophagus all the way to her throat i could see while her mouth was open and she was trying to breathe that her throat was very infected. Sorry to be gross, but i am writing what happened. Sometimes modern medicine is NOT the best.
Sometimes dying before we impose foreign tubes for feeding and breathing is better than keeping loved ones alive on alternative, modern medicine devices. In my opinion, it is wrong to keep loved ones alive after parts of their brain or other organs shut down when they are of older age already.
She  was unable to breathe in the end and died bc she simply couldn't breathe another struggling breath.  She was very labored in her breathing, for hours, and I am glad she can rest...and that my own father can rest also knowing she is finally at peace with her husband in heaven.
She was supposed to have been given morphine, ordered to help her pass peacefully. But the delivery, since the nursing home had none in stock, was ordered at 1pm and wasn't delivered even by the time she passed away at 11pm.  she was supposed to get it in the evening - my father was very upset that she had to feel pain and struggle at the end instead of have an easier way of passing with the morphine.  I am also saddened she had to suffer worse at the end. But i am thankful now - she was 96 and lived a long, honorable, loving life.

In my mind, she is and will always be beautiful, in heaven at last.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!
