Sounds like a very good day. I love licorice flavor tea - very good for constipation, too, but that's not why I enjoy it.

Horn_of_plenty on 02/16/2017:
oh....maybe...is that true about licorice tea good for constipation...no wonder i was getting gurgly i think!

grannyannie on 02/15/2017:
Love your first breakfast, second breakfast - like a hobbit! LOL. Sounds healthy though.

Horn_of_plenty on 02/16/2017:
for me, i'm always so hungry in mornings - much more than afternoons at work. lol, tasty yeah. lower protein is not helping me though but just not in the mood for turkey pepperoni!

I am very, very happy.

2025 2-day avg, awesome :)

Today i woke up sorta early but got great sleep. I did laundry and had really tasty breakfast & snacks.  I also cooked my veggie chips.

Then, although the weather was slippery, freezing rain, i went forward with my plans and picked up a friend that lives a couple blocks away. We went to a nice place for lunch, but not crazy expensive at all. Both had leftovers so we kept it in my car. We then drove downtown, like 15-20 min away due to traffic, and parked in a parking garage (he paid so i don't even know how much it was?).  we got a small coffee each & window browsed.  Then, we headed off to a library event that needed tickets ahead of time - very cool event. It was live story-telling. and the story-tellers were speaking on the topic of broken hearts but also speaking out how they were mended and got over them or dealt with first loves, etc.

All possibly true stories (but a couple seemed far-off and i couldn't imagine them taking place in reality) and these people had to have been pre-selected to participate. All stories were funny / sad combo and very entertaining to listen to.  It was both my friend's and my first time to this particular library - extremely Asian area so we were in minority. HOWEVER, in this large, completely filled auditorium - with complete stage and huge audience section in the library (huge city library in Flushing, NY (Queens)) - we were NOT minorities. It was a somewhat mixed audience with hardly any Asians because most of the people at the event were NOT members of that particular library and only there for the event. I just found it interesting that the only really mixed area in the library was of people that obviously don't live in the area. Nothing against the population of the area - I love all people.

It was a long, 2hr event with an intermission. Sometimes it dragged but mostly it was very entertaining.

The folks in the library were all around my age (20's--30's and a few 40's-60's but mostly a younger, educated crowd) and it felt good to be doing something stimulating and enlightening today.  It felt wonderful to be amongst peers who also find these (free) social / cultural / enlightening programs at the library and in community as enjoyable to attend as i do.  How lucky we are to be able to go to events like these (audience was huge maybe over 200 people)?...I hope there will be more programs like this one. And it was free. The speakers were well spoken and educated.  They made me laugh and have other emotions too regarding the sadness in some of their stories (one man's wife died of cancer).  What a change from sitting home all day on a Sunday, ya know?

I am enjoying my life right now.

Just talking about the day & my wonderful time with good company.

This weekend, I was blessed.

I was out with 2 older men (one Saturday & one Sunday).  Both were MUCH older than myself (both over 20yrs older than me)....but they are friends and they are single.

I am not looking to date them.

They both live close to me, one of them living only a few blocks away and the other in the next town over, and it was nice to do local things with local friends.

I have no regrets per this weekend and I got a ton done.

I feel that now that I am not on speaking terms with my Former best female friend now for several months, since mid October, I am really starting to enjoy my life and i'm really starting to feel great - and i'm doing more with others and experiencing friendships i wouldn't have normally experienced.  I was holding my own self back and now there isn't even any good reason not to try new things and relationships. It's wonderful to be able to expand my relationships and network. To learn how to cook more, also. I'm growing as a person. It feels so good.

I feel that my world is changing and my opportunities and experiences are increasing.

My going out with these men, I am also gaining experience in general at being out with men / dating. I am not experiencd in it - and it's giving me confidence to someday date the man that i do want to be with in that sort of romantic relationship.

I'm just starting out right now in hanging out / eating / going places with the opposite sex so although some will tell me it's really weird to be going out with these guys - one thing is for sure - both try very hard with me to please me - and they both have great manners - and they both show me what i do in fact need to look for in a man - both have complimented me and respect me (both are coworkers) and they both are genuinely fun to be around.

However, due to age being an important factor as i do not want to be dating someone old enough to be my father (i want to grow old with my sig other hopefully one day), and due to other things (one smokes and i could not date someone who does it's gross and smells)...and the other is slightly overweight and although decent looking he's not in the best of health - i do not want to date these men. They are both as different as night and day from each other - but, despite their own differences from each other, despite their own differences in personalities, i find it interesting that i enjoy both of their company when i go out with each of them. Both of them i've gone out with at least 1 other time.

Besides these men this weekend, my marine guy friend also texted me. Quite funny. It's true that on Valentine's Day and approaching weekend, men certainly do contact old flames / prospects. Pretty funny. The marine is not an old flame and i didn't ever go out with him even once, but it was somewhat of a prospect to happen for him and me but our schedules never aligned. Hence, he contacted me this weekend too.

So, 3 men, one weekend. Oh, one last contact - i almost forgot. I was also contacted by a local cop friend. He works in the precinct I live in. For same reason i think - it's Valentine's weekend and that's what single men do. Funny. I have no objections to contact via text message. I find it humorous and fun. No worries.

Monday entry:

3am monday morning: pita chips, 2 servings. 240 cal.

not sleeping, so had a snack of carbs to also settle my slightly unsettled acidy stomach. prob from too big a meal close to bed. no worries. slept a ton this weekend and stuff. this is typical jackie. i'm enjoying being up actually. just resting my mind. and allowing myself to think about stuff that's gonna be very much on my mind through this week (invloves a certain man who decided to flee the country this weekend that i have no doubt bc of the approaching holiday which makes me realize he has some major issues indeed..he is skipping out on work until after valentines as well...i do believe this & that he's not in relatinoship, i am sorry but this is my journal...these are my private thoughts.).

pita chips and kombucha at home: 310

work: green tea, banana 120, wrap 60 with cream cheese 100 and turkey pepperoni 70: total here 350.

total so far is high 660....may not be able to do low cal today...which is ok, tomorrow will be a better start i plan to sleep well tonight...

Excellent morning :-D Exteme productivity.

Around 9:30 i think? Natural bar & coffee 200

11:30 Brunch at home: 1 egg 60, rest of the couscous i cooked 250, pumpkin with a little added stuff so like 150?, and pita crackers 2 servings 240 (extra carbs, was pretty darn hungry after 2 mi walk and running errands - food shopping & air in tires): total for pretty healthy brunch although 3 servings carbs is ok! = 650 = decent.

total after brunch is good = 850 (dinner out later, so trying to not overdo calories bc i really want to enjoy the new Thai restaurant!)

Extremely productive day with food shopping in morning along with air in tires and somewhat cleaning up apt. nice i did most laundry on Thursday so i'll just do a little bit tomorrow! I feel like i have a lot of extra time this weekend bc i already relaxed a bit on the snow day on Thursday.!!

I might cook this afternoon or just relax. not sure. i also got a new book from the library this morning.

i also walked 2mi at the park - and this is all before getting home at 11:30am! still morning!

later on i'm seeing the movie @ 3pm with an older male friend from work - Hidden Figures. should be a good movie.  Then we're headed out to a Thai restaurant and the menu looks great.

Total not more than 2100 maybe less. Good eats !!

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 02/11/2017:

Back to work after yesterday's nice snow day - caught up on laundry and ate more than usual.  Overall, it was a restful day..

cranberries 40, pumpkin 100, in a protein muffin 240 - 400.

1650...may have a few chips. 150.

1800, excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

weekly avg: 2050, GOOD ENDING.

eager to eat less calories in the week to come...avg for this week will be around 2050 if i can get today under control - and that's my good plan :-D...today around 1800.

Snow Day over here!  Even all NYC Schools are closed which hardly ever happens. yay for being home!  I slept in - at least 10hrs sleep.  I was exhausted last night & didn't want to do anything. I wish i had bought some veggies to make chips out of. At least i have a lot of food in fridge already prepared.

9am Big Breakfast: strawberries 70, banana 120, oatmeal 150, almond milk 30, shakeology chocolate vegan protein powder 170... and 3/4 serving of chips 100. 650, good.

10:45 - snacky in a good way - i tried the new prepared pumpkin i bought yesterday - much healthier than the pumpkin i buy 30 blocks up at the other shop. Very good! 100 cal.

750 healthy. sipping an energy drink though.  it's small. will skip all exercise today - gym will be after work tomorrow.

12:45 pm lunch: 2 egg whites and one med egg: 100 that's it, pumpkin with spices hopefully not a lot of sugar 150, and chips 200: 450 and healthy.

3pm or so - decided to have crap once my dad left - Halo Top Peanut Butter flavor 200 cal 1400...and almonds. promised my dad i wouldn't drive to the gym tonight. 170. some small bites of cooked spinach 50, small bites of roasted eggplant 50?

couscous that i cooked 220, cooked cranberres 60, plain yogurt with cinnamon & stevia 100..

6:30 - small wrap with honey 100, pb & pumpkin.

2250-2300, good. Indulged today.

2090 6-day avg - not the best :-D

planning on around 1800 cal tomorrow. i can end at a good amount - 2050 per day avg.

i am NOT going to gym tonight, but, will take a sleeping pill again most probably...i wouldn't mind the gym though...so i'll probably go...so that means i don't have to go really late sunday which i don't like doing...

So today I'm not cooking since i didn't buy anything last night to cook. If I wanted to - i could make some kinda baked bars or something but that's not something i'm interested in doing.

But i did already get my laundry washed & it's now in the dryer! I will not have much laundry to do this weekend which is pretty awesome! Laundry will be practically finished by 11am. The laundry room downstairs has been in good use all morning as a lot of my neighbors are making good use of the NYC snow day!  Most places are closed today as the storm may set up to 1 foot (1/3 meter) of snow!  Snowing all around the tri-state area, actually - NY, NJ, PA, CT...and most probably other northeastern states as well - i should look it up - later!

As I'm feeling better, I'm wanting to do more & more...making plans for traveling & seeing friends. I may book my Miami trip (well, that just means buy the flight tickets) today since i'm off - i'll review the prices and everything online. I will buy flight tickets to Fort Lauderdale bc it's cheaper.

if everything is cleaned up, i'll go to gym tonight instead of Friday night....I will....

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

innerpeace on 02/09/2017:
Wow snow day!! I would have to work even though there was a ton of snow, unless I used leave. Enjoy your day!

Horn_of_plenty on 02/09/2017:
it snows a lot by you?

they closed most everything but my dad actually drove my mom to work not sure why they just didn't stay home! and he stopped by to visit me since i'm close to her.

grannyannie on 02/09/2017:
Enjoy your day off! Some healthy food there!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/10/2017:

(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 115.0

Seltzer and half bottle kombucha...may go back to kombucha for a little bit...bored of ACV. 30.

Breakfast: banana 130, wheat wrap 120 (not low carb, normal), cream cheese 100 omg how i've missed it! yum! thank gosh no more carby breakfasts!), and turkey pepperoni 70 and green tea.

10:30am snack: almonds 100 cal pack

gonna need an extra snack, too hungry.

1pm lunch i think: 3/4 of an eggplant dish that i cooked up from trader joes (not homemade) 210, chicken sausage 120, maybe plum 50, and half cup or little more of rice 150 tops. total here: 520-550 excellent but hungry now and it's only 11:15. just gonna have water, def no coffee. skin is good (AS IN MUCH BETTER THAN PREVIOUS MONTHS AND STAYS CLEARER FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY AT A TIME) & i do not want to make it full of pimples again.

We had a heat wave for today over 60F degrees in the middle of winter! so nice! tomorrow it's supposed to snow though! i walked and picked up some prepared veggies at a Carribbean place - pumpkin, okra, spinach & eggplant ! all looked tasty.  15 min walk and i owe them $15 after work (plus since it's a lot of food, i plan to tip them each $2 (2 older ladies there).

Ok weird stuff lately!!! weird and good! - i am eating MORE calories, but my weight is NOT going up really at all...

...and last night i was able to do very high weights at gym - my chest flies are now at #35each arm going out and i'm so close to even doing #35 bicep curls in my left arm! when i get there, i'll still wait with right arm and just do steady #35s with both biceps. i can already switch to #40bicep curls in right arm if i wanted to...but i know it's better to keep body even so that's why i'm waiting for the left side to slowly catch up. things are GREAT.

Today is exactly approx 10mos till i leave this job for NYPD! feeling wonderful with the extra time still. I'm so HAPPY.

750 tops for dinner and scratched my car door -

1850 today.

Eventually I'll get sick of my higher carb breakfasts.

6:30am Home: seltzer 1.5cups with stevia, followed by cup of kombucha 30

8:30am Work: banana 120, wrap 60 with cooked cranberries 40 and peanut butter 200:

10am thru 12pm 50 decaf coffee - in a very snacky mood (but it's worn off, thankfully, just very tired today and this week - after a very productive weekend which i wouldn't change for a thing).

11am: almonds 100 cal pack.

Lunch healthy and balanced around 600: lots of veggies, some oil, brown rice, and a chicken sausage.

4:30pm driving to far gym for a change of pace this week: 100 cal bar and energy drink probablyand a chocolate. 100 more.

After gym: large protein cookie 400 and chips. 200. absolutely fine - was a VERY demanding workout.

2000 total :-D

2100 4-day average. is very ok!

Looking forward to my workout tonight, next door to work at the gym close by.

I would be interested in knowing more about Kombucha. I'm afraid to try it!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/07/2017:
it's great...one serving is half those bottles. a serving is a cup. when i drink it usually i drink the full bottle but it's stupid and a waste. i am thinking what i did today is great...drink seltzer with stevia so i get a lot of liquid in and then follow up with one cup only kombucha and that's a lot of drinking in AM and satisfying. I like to drink in AM and relax on couch with laptop.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/07/2017:
oh - and one cup is only 30 cal. it's a strong diuretic / metabolism boost in AM...makes me poop like 30 min or less after drinking.

grannyannie on 02/07/2017:
Very healthy. Well done. You rock!

I tried Kombucha on a visit to see my brother. Ick.

horn_of_plenty on 02/08/2017:
Really the beer drinker doesn't like kombucha !?

Weight: 115.0

2133 3-day avg - a bit high, but not worried.

6:30am home: kombucha - strong stuff so it worked well 70...then had green tea at work...too much caffeine i keep fogetting the kombucha has caffeine in it too!

9am Work: med banana 140, wrap 60 with cooked cran 40 & peanut butter 200

510...trying for maybe just decaf coffee as snack, do not want to eat tons...already drank too much caffeine and feeling it oh well. 250 - protein bar followed by two smallish chocolate chip famous amos cookies from coworker

Not sure what time Lunch (may take it early) leftover thai soup - tofu and veggies with additional cabbage and brown rice. lunch rice 200, veggies not much 100 tops!, soup broth 100, plum 50. total is 450 oh and some tofu 100 tops. 550.

4pm at work, giving into temptations...crackers and i don't believe the package, so i'll say they were 200, not 120 cal. could be even more than 200, but saying that. they're from phillipines and not available in US - which is the reason i am not believing the package bc they taste really good and not so light as they say they are! lol...

1500..before dinner, no exercise today beyond the 10 min at lunch walking around doing errands. (went to supermarket during lunch!...and got waxed at the cheap place!) LOL.

Dinner: to be healthy...eh. it was healthy but it could def have been around 600-700 cal. but healthy. (freshly cooked veggies i picked up on way home in some oil, soy breaded / fried "fish", and cooked cranberries of my own. bigger portions and the fried soy "fish" amps up calories. but tasty and satisfying. better than having a protein muffin with pumpkin i'd say...at least all of this only has sugar in the cranberries. i'm happy - that's the important part right now!!!

2200 today. that's fine. bed early.

Already have plans for the weekend - seeing a movie with an older man from work. He wanted to see a movie and i asked if he wanted to do it this weekend and he said yes.  I'm happy to go with him - nice, low key...fun and something nice to do on Valentine's Day weekend. Sometimes it's nice to go out wtih different folks and he likes good food and so do i. I can't date him, because he's old enough to be my father but we have similar tastes in liking exotic food & stuff so I get along quite well with him!

In general, I prefer men older than myself. But not close to 60. More like late 30's or in their 40's like Paul who I always talked about.  Paul is not on the agenda, as you all know.

But since i'm not dating anyone, I've decided to just "have fun with friends" - i mean go out and have fun! have normal fun - go to movies, go out to eat, go to different activities...you know...the stuff i would like to do anyways with someone!

So if I can't do it with Paul, I'll do it with guys that want to go out with me...but i don't want to "date" them as they are slightly too old and it's not fair to myself to just settle like that...but i will hang out with them if i get along with them - WHY NOT!?

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

It's a wonderful thing & I am enjoying doing more...the Oven...I can't believe i was so nervous...it's awesome!

It does take time though - cooking...so it was nice to have not too many plans for the long weekend and be able to spend time getting better at it. I really learned quite a bit and was successful at it, following easy directions. it's awesome!

Have a nice time with your 'date'. It is nice to be friends with someone where romance is not a possibility. Keeps things honest!

Enjoy all your healthy cooking. Well done.

Horn_of_plenty on 02/06/2017:
Thank you for the advice, i agree!

innerpeace on 02/07/2017:
I hope your older man understands this...no underlying agenda from him. Have a great time - what movie are you going to see?

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/07/2017:
Yes he knows for sure. Hidden Figures.
