Saturday, April 10th: VOLUNTEERING!!!

NYC Parks Stewardship Volunteer 9am-12pm Goodhue Park, Staten Island...I'm excited to drive back to this area as Staten Island is a borough of NYC that people who do not live there do not ever drive to unless it's to do something speciifcally on Staten Island bc Staten Island is out of the way from everywhere.

Do Week 5 Bankruptcy Due Monday, 4/12/21, review of bankruptcy chapters:

  • chapter 7 (liquidation),
  • 11(reorganization of a company),
  • 12 (famers/fisherman),
  • 13 (individuals with regular income). (most common ones,
  • 9 isn't common as it's for towns/cities and they USUALLY do not file for bankruptcy, USUALLY!).

& Do Week 6 (FINAL week) Due April 19, but hand it in early - be DONE with it!

  •  The Bankruptcy Rules (might be shorter / easier assignments than previous weeks, i'll have to see as it could end up being quite a lot of reading...we'll see.)

Monday April 12: Vacation Day #1 

Do Housing Affidavit income statement worksheets this weekend, if i want to notarize, i will do it Monday at a bank by me. Notarization is optional this year, but, I like to get things done right.

Food shopping at Target using my gift card for this week or next weekend on my way home from parents if i visit them?, whatever i prefer...

Sounds like you have a busy day ahead, but at least you get to start your weekend early. I'd gladly leave work to get any kind of medical whatever.

Did you get weights in last night? I thought of you as I tried, pathetically, to do leg weights.

i left work 20 min early and the owner acts like it's the biggest favor. i can't believe how this man has turned on me. i should be OK though.

i got my weights in...started late but did them fast and i'm so glad i got it done. it's ok if you struggled with your legs. it gets better with repitition.

How did work go today?

Interesting how the Amazon workers in Alabama voted not to unionize. A big factor was union dues, but the article didn’t say how much. I wonder.

alabama's not a big union state. they're not used to it. it's prob a "right to work state?" i'll have to look it up.

gotta pay dues if you want a union to back you. otherwise, with no funds, how does a union operate. they don't get it.

We are coming from different points of view. I was indifferent to unions until I began teaching at a public school. Grossly incompetent individuals were protected by the union. I’m talking alcoholics and pill heads and those who sat all day talking on cells while the kids ran amuck. I hated that union and was the only person who crossed the picket line when these a$$holes wanted more money. The union leaders called me constantly at home, saying I’d regret it. Never did. In fact, many teachers respected me all the more for having the courage they lacked.

So I get it, as far as teaching unions go. And I’m sure they are not unique.

I see your experience is different. There’s bad apples in all lines of work though. As a different type of union member other than teaching now that I’m in, there is no tenure or work protection / stability for me. The union has done good for electricians and their pay rate but for my work as an office worker without an electrical engineering degree I do not have enough protection to know I’ll have a job for life. But I do know it’s the union who gave my dad a good life with good wages for him to raise a family off of. That’s important.

LOOKAHEAD: 

Thursday 4/8/21 work: I'm getting thru the week one moment to the next. It's a week I will not miss once it's over.  It's not worth writing more about, except that I know in my heart that I am not wrong this time and that although I won't be listened to or acknolwedged for it, i can know in my heart that what happened here at work wasn't my doing. I know in my heart that a the payroll woman who refused to work with me continued her harassment and complaints of me even after i wasn't working with her.

I can know in my heart that although i can't amend the situation because management has told me they are not on my side (in other words, same meaning), I can know in my heart that these things happen, life isn't fair, and love myself more for being myself. It's been a very tough week and I am sure the bullying and badgering will continue, although I will not say a thing.

I won't complain no matter what she does to the owner and only to my boss if it's worth it.  Like most office status quo, what has always "been right" is "right." I'm not looking for advice.  I've been thru similar things before. There's age discrimination in play. The woman who's bullying is payroll and knows my age, salary, where i live. nothing's good enough for her. she wants me out. Hey, if it happens, it happens.  I've been told by the owner, "you are the low one on the totum pole." and let me tell you, if those words aren't hurtful coming from an owner, when you go to them for help because you are concerned, i don't know what is. I didn't go to him, until she didn't stop, only after it kept coming to me, from the owner and my boss.

it's over now. but just to know it's not ok here to stand up when someone is hurting me - because they've been here a long time - and that i'm automatically wrong because i'm new (and younger), is not right. it's not right because the woman is a bully and trying to hurt me, on purpose, instigating all situations. And when i stand up because i want to say i need help, i'm told not to come to back tothe owner, to take care of it with my boss...even when the payroll lady goes straight to the owner. i'll always remember this, like i remember other extraordinary workplace scenarios in my mind, for life.

Everyone struggles with something. I've been dealt work struggles throughout my life. I'm not saying i'm never wrong and never could have done better. But this one time, i wouldn't change a thing I did. Because even if i did things not as well in the past, in my heart i know i did it right this time. That is the only thing that matters to me at this point.

I am making XXk, dealing with office harassment and bullying, in a company that goes with status quo becaues that's what's easier for everyone. this is the true world. most people will not be out to help.  This situation has been extremely stressful, hurtful and upsetting to me over the past 1.5 weeks or so.  It's something that could have been stopped in it's tracks as soon as it started. That's life.

Work:

**LOGGING** to be done today: Jan/Feb/March unpaid DONE!

finish other smaller tasks in last hour of work, leave promptly at 4pm.

Tonight: speedy and quick upper bod strength workout & some leg massaging for preventative purposes.

 

Thursday Eats

Large banana 150, coffee 40, coco custard pie so tasty 210 1/8 slice 400

9:45/10am snacks: chocs coated greens bar splurge 300..need fast energy today...little extra, 250.

lunch: few fries 100, mix of rice/sauteed greens/beans 250, ground turkey 150.  500, green sweet tomatoes so good. 50. 550.

snacks: tbd :-D half a pack of sour gummies 100

dinner: the insides of two heavily fried vegetable rolls, large size, 200. the outside of one of them...and i'm very nauteous now from the oil 400, egg 100, and 3 crappy gummy moons no name brand 120. 820, sick to my stomach.

After Work: 1st dose covid vaccine - leave work at 3:40...for 4:30pm appointment across town, takes at least a half hour from work to get to vaccine sight at a high school upper west side of Manhattan.

NYC Parks Stewardship Volunteer - check if it's really 9am-12pmGoodhue Park, Staten Island...try to moderate myself so that i have energy for this opportunity as I have no more days off around this one, LOL, but really!..I'm excited to drive back to this area (staten island is where the funeral was a couple weeks ago; tho i do not think it was by this park) and take out food from a new restaurant on my way back to Queens, i'm around an hour or more away, need to look up directions...so, when i do have time - and i DO for this task! - i'll find a restaurant with good eats to try for Saturday later in the day after volunteering <3 oh, i can't wait for Saturday <3

If you've done the best that you can do, it what you thought was right, then there's not much more you can do.

Let's focus on getting you through today and tomorrow. Chalk this week up a a rough week, and just get through it.

Having said that, when you are "low man" on the pole, keep your head down, get the work done, and try to keep quiet. They aren't going to change their ways, so don't waste any more energy on feeding this negative situation, with its negative people.

I know it's really hard and not a great way to spend your day. I think it's times like these where the line between work and life becomes so clear.

I have a vacation day on Monday to do finish all remainder work this weekend for the course. It's my last day off until Summertime, if i am still employed here till then! I shall rest up and get some good sleep over the weekend.

i write this in regards to your comment about work and life and the line is clear. That vacation day is a definite necessity for this work life balance. And i'm so glad i did take it, planned for it a week ago, and it's in the books to happen for me.

I agree with innerpeace, as long as you know that you did all the right things, there is not much else you can do. I too hope this isn't going to be a long-term issue for you. It is just awful when you are always trying your best to be treated like this!

When I was still working, I had to put up with bullies over me. Highly stressful. I wanted to quit EVERY DAY. But I hung in there, with our good Lord's help. There are people in this world who despise you for whatever reason, no matter if you do your job perfectly or not. They would still despise you. Going to the biggest boss never worked for me because the biggest boss and those over me always stuck together, regardless. Their cruelty is something between them and the Lord, so let HIM handle it. Just try to get through it until you can do something different. Prayers for you! And HUGS!!!

Wednesday 4/7/21 work:another horrible day at work.

Today begin with a huge complaint as well as last night from owner to me from Payroll lady that i'm scanning to the payroll person by accident...i can't believe she's complaining and no i don't remember doing this...this is hurting me mentally and not a good way to start work. i'm now dealing with an over 60-yr-old bully. i hope it ends. owner told me i must fix this situation by me personally acclimating to these people that were here for years.  so, since i can't quit, i have to do my work and shut up.

january payment folder for 97.2k - printing NOW...to be DONE and processed for payment by possibly today/thurs/friday.

I should get one more covid test to make sure i'm negative after the woman at work tested positive -  before getting my shot on Friday, but, may actually not go back for another rapid test- not sure, very busy, but will see about going later today (wed) or tomorrow thurs. (all during work hours).  My throat only is sore, but prob from pollen and also i bit the insdie of my lip so i have a sore which could have added to the sore throat...of course everything comes to a head at the same time ;)..have to do it after work tonight.

i'm always here to support you. I know how hard the battle can be with eating, dieting, reaching a desired weight. it was a battle i fought for years and just the past several, 5 years, have a finally maintained and reached what i've always wanted. i still have my struggles, but i've been there and i know what it's like.

you still are really close to your goal. and 120 is still a good number. just take your time. a rush never worked for me.

either way, keep on, keep your head up, and we're all behind you.

Are you scanning stuff to Payroll Lady by mistake? That happens to me all the time. Sheesh, like she's never made a mistake? Or is that the only thing she has to complain about?

Take it from Mistakes Girl - she's the "low man", makes a ton of mistakes, but she's so nice and easy-going and gentle that everyone loves her. Be the positive in your office, even if it kills ya. What's the saying, Kill them with kindness --- something like that.

TOM is here, makes sense, wasn't sure how many more days i could feel like it was "almost here!"...my body does a great job throwing my signals. busy day at work, would have liked more sleep. glad i finished my homework. i have a vaccine appt on Friday. just busy this week. Potentially getting sleep tonight instead of upper body weights, though, we'll see how i feel.

...the upper body workout can get done fast if i push it; then i'll go to bed early - this is the goal but i may put off exercise until Wednesday if i go home too tired....something's always gotta give, can't have it all.

Basically, it's 12:45pm at work and I'm telling myself the most important thing, TO ME, today is to get my workout in...i'm here, talking myself up for it tonight. Because in this life, I should get enjoyment in getting the activities done that I want done, not just everyone else's needs from me <3

lunch: healthy - rice 200, beans 150, ground turkey not too much 100? clementines smallsih 50. 500...walked to the store, picked up some candies...had 3 chuckles (gummy candy things out of 5). 120...nice flavors. cured my massive sugar craving after lunch for either sweets or chips (maybe it's TOM, maybe it's the slightly less veggies in lunch, not sure).

dinner: healthy - i have a ton of leftovers, so i'll stick with what's at home. possibly have tofu with veggies, side of popcorn maybe - ground turkey not

 during workout small things 100...workout ended up being upper and lower, success, i was able to start early bc i got home on the earliest side as i didn't do any extra walking and trains came quickly this afternoon :)

HOP! I have a great idea for you! Why not go to law school? You’re certainly smart enough (I can tell). As I’ve mentioned, I did it for one semester & hated it, but then you’re taking courses like bankruptcy so maybe it’s more to your liking. Could also be the first year is the most tedious, idk. All I remember is this godawful contract course.

i want to work in the court system, but more as a clerk than a lawyer. i wish i had BOTH money and time for law school. maybe later on, maybe never.

but my hopes are set, yes, on working in the state courts in the future.

yes, i agree that the first year of law school would be the most tedious as they are looking to see who will make it thru / cut out the slackers etc.

store bought...i haven't been cooking or baking at all lately...i want to, but, it's not how i prefer to use my time. maybe next weekend i will. once this course is done, my time will free up, a little bit.

there's something about a slice of pie in the morning, it is good to wake up with when combined with a coffee!

Yeah, it was expensive and I attended a crappy law school that basically accepted everyone. It was ABA accredited. This one charged $1000 per course. You’d probably need big student loans or moving back home home to afford law school.

I’ve always been fascinated by the states that allow ppl to take the bar without going to law school. But it’s been years I’ve forgotten which. Never many. As I recall, one could work under an attorney or judge etc in California & then take the “baby bar” and attend law school for a year or so. What I know about law school dates back 15 yrs so probably a lot has changed

at 38 and not a lot of money to spare, i'm looking for a job that will pay my bills and keep me satisfied, but def not by going back to school again! only these shorter, cheaper courses are ok by me, to keep learning, challenging myself, but with some semblance of a budget!

unfortunately, my paralegal certificate that i got early Fall isn't ABA because it doesn't involve an internship (i knew with a pandemic i wouldn't be able to do that anyways, so i went with whatever option i could achieve.)

I checked out that law school. It’s now $1100 per unit, not course & the courses I took were 5 units each, so woulda been over 15K! Never would have gone there, would have studied for the LSAT & applied to a public school. Plus they have all kinds of other added fees now

lunch: rice and chili that i had previously made & froze (and is tasty!), clementine, hot coffee? (diet soda really wrecks my skin, even though it's free in the fridge here i may not take a diet coke as i'm low on sleep and everything else so it's just poison today..but i may change my mind!) 600

today was a "no shower" day...body wipes only. i now give myself relief of up to 2x per workweek where a shower isn't mandatory anymore. but i use wipes. it all boils down to what's important time-wise. and i'm still clean, doesn't have to be perfect, just has to work for me.

There seems to always be that ONE PERSON who is completely difficult. I usually try to avoid them as much as possible. Document everything. If you can show that you've reached out to Payroll Lady, and SHE was the one who didn't respond, then that's on her. I guess your boss likes to do the extra work that you could be doing if Payroll Lady would cooperate with you.

it was decided thru MY DOING with my boss today that i am never to email her again. all my needs will go thru my boss to get it done from her. she has made it clear that she will not "work for me." unbelievable that this is allowed in organizations. this is what is WRONG with the working world. she is an example of someone who is pure evil...def not going to heaven.

Mid-April:, request pay for both 1 unused vacation day as well as 1.5 sick days...that should amount to a good amount of money, approx half a weeks pay. so, i'm looking forward to requesting it, soon, approx April 15.

Go to Target on a larger supermarket shopping, use $50 gift card thru bank points that i gave myself to cut costs in the next month


LOOKAHEAD: Annoying Payroll woman is complaining that i scanned things to her email....if anything, it was an accident!  moreover, i have to do tons of extra work for her as she keeps losing things! ha! idiot!...she complained about me to my boss and the owner and suddenly i'm the one doing wrong. i hope she stops being an **** bc i can't take her harassment much longer: she refuses to speak to me when i go to her desk, she refuses to talk to me on the phone, she doesn't answer my emails. when she needs something like photocopies she loses, i have to make them again...when i need something from her i don't get it ever and my boss has to go to her instead. she refuses to be told what to do by me, because she's older and 34 years at the company, so she feels she shouldn't have to listen to me. that's her side of it.

 

Wed March 31st...Upper body Workout tonight!..cool thing is if i get it done tonight, i will not workout again until Saturday evening...and that's a nice few days off! :)

 ran out of time, had to skip workout because was on phone all night...and that is NOT making me happy at all. i am in fact pissed that i couldn't stick to my own schedule bc i was busy on the phone planning this photo shoot crap with a local politician. so, i got bullied by a **** today in payroll and skipped a workout, yet again. will do it tomorrow.....i am not pleased with today.

Wow...that was a massive bagel at 700 cals for a whole one...wow....but then again...there truly is nothing like a real NYC bagel!....I used to order them from H and H Bagel years go.....I also used to order NY pizzas......

exactly, you've heard of NYC bagels! this one was from Yonkers and it's well known. its huge. i only put a little cream cheese 100 cal. so half a bagel is like 250 cal! i may eat the other half at lunch! ;) it's my estimate, but by the weight and size, it's bigger than most bagels i have seen, so i gotta add cals onto it.

NYC pizzas are good when you find a deal. lately, i see a good price for a slice is $3

now you see why i post...too many things to keep in mind right now...

it should simmer a little once i'm done with this course.

i used to not have such a "lookahead," really not until this year, starting when i first was taking a paralegal course over the summer.
