  • use up my riced cauliflower & maybe cook up the "fried cauliflower rice" using a double batch of the frozen riced cauliflower x 2...to be eaten at work this week along with the mashed potatoes and leftover meat in the freezer! :)...NOT TODAY
  • cook up homemade mashed potatoes using all 4 potatoes i've had in the apt for weeks!...NOT TODAY
  • Repeat order of what i did over a month ago (January 16th) kombucha whole foods / amazon delivery again, if available.?...maybe tomorrow, maybe wait another week...

Eats:

10am thick toast 260, whitefish spread from supermarket just ok 200, wafers 200...coffee included cals 660

12:30pm lunch: leftover brussel sprouts in some curry sauce, just ok, but filling, 150, leftover fries 300, 2 pcs chicken bacon 50. 500 total

3pm coffee 40, strawberries 100, some low sugar gummies 50

5pm small meal / snack pb 100 and some multigrain stacy's pita chips 230

7pm had a slice of the pie that i cut so quick that all the slices are somehow dramatically different sizes lol. 400 cal, some kombucha later 50.

2150, fine.

stayed in bed until almost noon...! fully slept until 11:30am!!.....
 
cleaned up, threw away all cardboard shipping boxes and garbage laying around lol...first time that happened in awhie, now back to a cleaner apt...it's bc i had a lot more little boxes shipped to my apt almost everyday this week from amazon, lol,  DONE
 
electronically file the taxes & make payments from savings acct i did on turbotax last weekend. DONE
 
slow cook the brussel sprouts even before going out to supermarket, get them in the slow cooker...getting there..DONE!
 
Walk to under 1/2 mile away Supermarket: I want to use my time Saturday for cooking...and first stopping at supermarket for mostly veggies for myself and the pigs; Veggies i need to buy for pigs / myself: parsley, lettuce, cilantro maybe, carrots lg x2, one pepper this week; celery..DONE
 
 
also check if i have any meat left in the freezer to cook (YES), which i think i do...or just see what meat has been cooked and organize to eat that throughout next week. (Yes, i also have enough meat to last me thru next week, already cooked and portioned!)...DONE
 
verdict - i'll eat what i have leftover this week & cook something new with the frozen ground meat next weekend.

Noon - indulgent breakfast: oats 150, small banana 120, almond milk 30, dried cherries 150, stevia drops to sweeten cereal more, wafers 160....610...coffee 40...

i think it's ok...some people say "how can you sleep so long," but, after being out of work for 10 months and continuously sleeping 10hrs per night, i chalk it up to my body liking long sleeps!

Hey HOP :) you give off such a calmness and serenity about food..don’t fight or struggle with it like I do...How do you manage to never have a day where things are stressful or too many yummy things are present or you’re eating at your parents and just forget about counting and eat way too much (examples of things that derail me). You seem to have discovered something really unique. Most people can’t do it. You should really write a book lol. I’d buy it :-)

She asks a very good question. I feel like if you had an online video blog or podcast or YouTube, I'd watch it.

Yes Donkey exactly! I’m kind of addicted to diet type YouTube videos, but I’ve never come across a channel that would use calorie counting in such a sustained, easy going, livable way. It’s either too extreme, like only perfect clean eating or intuitive eating, or the same calorie deficit talk over and over. All of that is appropriate in its own right, but never seems to help me. Even when I was doing great with my weight, I still had days of overeating and off track/bingy behaviour. I’m really truly interested how some people stop doing that completely

Fri: 

1 mi cardio extra on commute home :) - i may try to do more, but my shoes don't offer the best support, so it depends how i feel, no need to overdo.
 
takeout thai for dinner, order at 3:30 so it stays warm during the commute home :)...instead of ordering two meals as i have done in the past, i'll just order one meal (i used to love to order multiples to have to eat all weekend  or all week...trying to stop doing that as well as cook a couple things myself this weekend..!)
 
 
Eats:
7:45-8pm banana and coffee 150
wrap with ricotta 220
almost 10am snack: almonds, tiny packaged cinnamon bun 200.
 
lunch: an indian paneer palak packet 260-300 that just needs heating up with some leftover white rice 200...if it tastes ok, and i have leftovers, i'll freeze them at work to eat again - bc i have two servings of the rice as well as the spinach thing with me.....500..
 
after lunch snacks: chocolates, small clementine 100; diet pepsi, granola bar 120, 1 choc 40
 
dinner 2 smallish chicken dumplings that were really good 200, tons of veggies in a yellow curry (didn't love the quality of veggies or taste of the sauce, was a different restaurant in nyc near my work) 200, dried jackfruit no sugar added 100...500

if i'm at my desk, i can still prob hear the phone even with headphones and other people in the room may say something about my phone or look at me if i didn't answer...

but if i'm ALONE working, and not sitting at my desk, i'll just listen to my phone music without the headphones, so i don't miss any sounds or calls in the office (when alone).

but in general, i do not really have many clients like is your case, it's all business, not client based, and i do not make hardly any calls all day aside from within company calls (very few) or with other subcontractors, again very few calls. it's not like your work at all...

Rested a lot, no reading, on way into work on bus/train - closed eyes the whole time bc i woke up quite tired...feeling extremely tired at work
 
but i will work myself up to a full body workout tonight, maybe drink some caffeine before the workout, to get it done, go back to bed...sleepy after a full week!
 
no extra cardio today as i want to get home to do my full body strength workout :)
 
drop off co-op maintenance check on the walk home...

I think i really like to sleep for longer periods of time...like i was when i wasn't working...i think i'm one of those semi long-sleepers.

so just less sleep and getting up earlier.....i have always gotten this way...it could also be mental like the week ending is contributing to me feeling tired just because it's late in the week, but, i plan to def sleep in on Saturday!!

dinner: really thinking to do another mcdonalds takeout with a LARGE side salad 100 of my own at home...only 4 nuggets 200, another free fries with additional 300 leftover fries (bc i'm not about to eat the whole medium fries as it's a lot more calories and i do not want that) to keep in fridge / freezer for another time. $2, very inexpensive and tasty. and i'll still eat a few greens with it.  i'll certianly sleep well :)  it's nice to eat fast food and also eat a salad with it and be very satisfied...also i am enjoying the honey mustard sauce which is quite excellent from mcdonalds.....600

with insurance, i didn't open the letter yet and i'm nervous it's the same as the last mailing at not changed...i have to wait to check it when it's not as quiet in the office so people don't hear me opening my mail...

next, i AM STILL drinking kombucha, yes. i have been having some in the morning (but only a few sips today as i ran out the door quickly but wanting some sweet liquid in my mouth before my commute so i took a few sips before heading out...and i have also been having some at night if i know i didn't have much in the AM...def trying not to overdo the kombucha, but i have been listing it still in a lot of my entries, unless i forget to.

Husband asked if I wanted some nice chocolates for my birthday and I said yes but only if he helps me eat them. So it's early but the box has been opened. 85 cals per piece (2 bites each). They are too yummy! But thankfully hubby hid them and is rationing them. Otherwise, I would eat the entire box!

Only thing in today’s USPS alert is a county tax bill. 4K. Expect a bigger one from the school district in July. Paid much lower taxes in California. Stable too. Here they go up every year.

for some reason, i love their nuggets. BK has better fries, but i like how mcdonalds fries are skinny and prob slightly lower cal...i find BK fries greasier.

that cinnamon bun would be good if i could share with someone! great idea on sharing.

Tried the chicken fingers at one, can’t remember which, but GROSS! Seems to me , the thinner fries would have more surface area & thus more grease. We could probably compare by weight online.

I thought that the (return to) kombucha would help your bathroom issues - which is why I thought you had stopped drinking it. I see though that it's not. Maybe once you're REALLY used to the job, things will change and your GI will learn to relax a little.

Nice Lady has a LOT of mind-body issues when it comes to stress/anxiety and her GI system. Even if we talk it out logically, if she says she's got it handled, her body just reacts a certain way when she's ... not tranquil.

dinner: tbd, thinking to have more salad (iceberg and add a little cilantro in also for taste, oil, spices), grilled cheese & chicken bacon...maybe half a sandwich as the bread is thick and adds up to 300 calories once i add a tiny bit of butter...so, maybe half the sandwich, not sure.  my own salad (will eat a big one, have tons of shredded / bagged iceburg lettuce varieties) with mcdonalds..$2 for 4 nuggets with free medium fries so i'll eat some of them and save some in the fridge to heat up another day...with these low prices, mcD's will come up weekly probably. salad with olive oil 100, fries 250, nuggets 200. 550-600. some kombucha?
 
2 choc towards end of workout that did last awhile bc i took too many breaks, but at least i am more relaxed and awake tonight than last night and even all day today :)

on the mcdonalds phone app, there's tons of freebies! lots of food, free. like, fries medium for free with any $1 purchase! or, a free egg mcmuffin without any additional purchase even!...may do this for breakfast one day this weeK! hello, i like free, and mcmuffins aren't even high calorie!  i have a mcdonalds next to the subway station i use by work which is why mcdonalds will pop up time to time...and it's cheap, so, and tasty, so...it will happen! woohoo!

 Monday
do notarizing for friend at work, stick in work outgoing mail when I complete it all....nope, she sent me an electronic signature, so no notarizing today...i called her to fix it.
 
mile walk during commute home yay (unless it's raining)...rained a bit but got off bus a little esrly at the end :)
 
reading on commute and tonight to relax before bed of my book "down and out in paris and london," by orwell...yes....
 
sleeping early tonight bc last night wasn't ! :) :)  :)

Monday eats:
Breakfast banana 120 (stomach is a little gassy - basically i pooped all weekend since i hardly pooped during the week - this will be my MO for awhile as i am a nervous pooper and cannot do it at work when people are present and working near the bathroom), coffee 30. 150
wrap with ricotta 220.
 
 
10:45 snack: tbd - maybe almonds but i don't see that happening as much as a granola bar might happen, lol...tbd....Sunbelt (cheap brand love it) choc chip granola bar 150 so good. always fresh.
 
Noon lunch: leftovers, balanced: white rice sooo soft even after being frozen, sooo fluffy (was frozen with liquidy items which is why everything heated up so well in the microwave!) 300, veggies in curry sauce i think? 100, meatloaf small piece but a full piece at least 3oz 300...: 700 at least prob.
 
snack: dark choc pb mini reeces x 3 130
 
dinner: tbd at home...not sure...got tons in the freezer, totally not buying anything that's for sure!...no cash in checking except for maintenance fees this month and not using credit card when i have no cash to pay it back...later in week i'll prob do some takout, though! salad just greens, seasoning, olive oil 100, grilled cheese toast and butter 300, cheese & chicken bacon 110..510..
 
1/8 smaller piece no sugar added store bought pumpkin pie, tasted good after my dinner 160 cal only.
 
decided also on an alcoholic beverage which is more calories but I do not mind today 100

try to see if i can repeat what i did over a month ago (January 16th and the kombucha has lasted me until probably this weekend - great deal for me as otherwise it's more errands on weekend to get it which also means not always finding parking, time, etc...):  kombucha whole foods / amazon delivery again if available.

I remember you used to drink kombucha in the mornings.( to kickstart things)......What if you drank that as soon as you got home at night....maybe it would help the bathroom issue and you wouldn't have to be so miserable at work. I think that is why a lot of people drink coffee in the morning..it is an intestinal stimulant....

your idea is great...i drink a cup of coffee at work, doesn't do a thing...

it's something related to "flight or fight" hormones and not feeling relaxed enough for the muscles to do anything during work....

even when i take a trip, i have gone 10 days without when i went to israel. i may improve with time, but, i have so far only went that way to the bathroom at work when seriously nobody was left in the office and it's been just me (either Thursday or Friday.)...but yes, i used to relax in the AM before work when i could get up later...now i refuse to get up any earlier.

all weekend, very relaxed, nothigng but loads of gas (which occurs bc the smooth muslces are moving to also make you poop) and poop...well over 3x per day, both days, to make up for the week of lack of pooping. crazy.

I hope the amount you owe on taxes does not kick in a penalty. It did for us 2-3 years ago. Said we’d be fined. Never heard from them. Get scared everytime I see a letter from the IRS.

If you underpay by a certain %, they get you. Can’t recall the %, but since then we have them withhold more, including 10% when Matt was furloughed & on unemployment.

yes, i was notified by Turbo Tax i was maybe going to be considered for underpayment, except, with covid and what happened, i am sure the 4k makes up for it...i am sure there are so many people in my boat...and also i will pay every penny back, i will not stall on it....but interesting you bring this up. if i ever have the choice again, i guess i'll try having them withold taxes, instead of having to pay them back later.

You can’t stall. They increase the penalty. But I believe one can arrange payments. Interest may accrue during that period, idk.

I wish they’d just fine me and get it over with.

yes, someone else told me that yesterday, how you can do multiple payments. since i have enough in my savings to cover the 4k easily, i'll just blow thru 4k now to not have a problem later. owing money to anyone should be taken care of asap, always! LOL, you want them to fine you!? no way! not me!

Well wait & see what the IRS says. They will send a letter which you have to sign, acknowledging you underpaid. They didn’t say by how much & what the penalty was. I am surprised they never got back to me. That letter was signed & sent off the same day.

I know some folks with serious poop issues like yourself, both at work and family. You're not alone in this.

i even run the water at home, sometimes!...because the wall of my bathroom shares a wall with this 20-something-year old's room!...

at work, i do it sometimes, but, i'm trying to at least be able to pee without the water,tho, if i am gassy or something i may run the water, yes...thank you for the reminder - appreciate it always.

 Do taxes...The Verdict: I owe a combined 4k in taxes to federal / state this year!!! ahhh! never owed in my life but this year was different with unemployment.
 
full body afternoon - after i finish taxes around 5pm-6:30pm
 
prep meals - fridge & frozen leftovers - sort so i have enough lunches for this entire work week & also put aside dinners ....use my ample leftovers...try to mostly save money from today thru thursday with friday Thai takeout.
 
 laundry / guinea pig fleeeces anytime - evening, after workout...trying not to have many interruptions during workout, i want it done :)

Sunday Eats:
slept in!
 
10:30am store bought no sugar added pumpkin pie 1/4 pie slice 325 (just ok, calories great, not a great taste, used maltitol - didnt look at label till i got home, will not buy again), coffee 25...350....
 
1:pm lunch: banana small 120, leftover fries 250, chicken bacon 50. 420. small plum 30., couple chocs 100
 
4:30 snack: gummy vitamins x2, plum 100, extra selzter with stevia
 
5pm before working out...gathering up my energies! snack dark pb chocs and hard cider 200 total
 
dinner..will be some leftovers of my own cooked veggies in leftover panang curry sauce, will def be experimenting going forward with how i can make my food LAST!...atop some shredded lettuce i think!...and tofu, i have a package of it i can open for this week.  kellogs cheese pb crackers and a sweet alcoholic beverage 400

sleep in / reading in the AM & PM...
 
I may have to take one of my guinea pigs to the vet...he has mouth sores ...prob Chelitis :(....overall he'll be ok...it's one of my older pigs, not the baby.  i have been using coconot oil on the one pig's lips and the others are seemingly ok, haven't caught it really...so i am going to keep using coconut oil this week and only go to vet next weekend if need be if it doesn't keep healing. i really don't want to go to the vet if i do not really have to. 
 
Leave apt at 12:30pm for 1:30pm Friend's 40th drive by party, already bought a very inexpensive sparkling chanpagne and also an amazon gift card to make up for the really cheap champagne which i'm debating keeping for myself, actually....YESdone, nice visit :)

3pmish maybe earlier: if it's walkable outside, walk at Valley Stream park on the way home from the drive-by party....would be nice to walk at one of my long-time favorite places since childhood. stopped at parents on way home and walked around the community with my mom, arouund 45min walk done
 
8pm: Zoom happy birthday for same friend's 40th with everyone, especially since most didn't decide to do a drive-by...alright, i'll give the champagne...it'll be more worth it to drive

5pm mini meal after stopping at supermarket...found a no sugar added pumpkin pie, not the best and it has maltitol in it, didn't realize till i bought it (i generally don't like using maltitol as i've had really bad side effects). but it's fine and i had a quarter of the pie for only 325 calories and a coffee 25. Bowl of warm slow cooked veggies in a broth just to get them cooked while I was out =  great idea !!!

Do taxes ??? :) ....i'd like to know what kind of Money i'm dealing with this year in terms of taxes...i highly doubt i could owe very much...however, when i was unemployed for 10 or so months, i didn't have taxes taken out of my weekly unemployment checks, so, that may be quite a bit to owe...I think it might amount to $50 per week....so, ugh....we shall see how that works itself out....whatever the math is on Turbo should be right...now i need ot make sure i have all my tax documents...will start the turbo tax up but probably not file on Saturday night just yet...will wait till sometime in March...

next week - back to more of a regular schedule with workouts on Tues/Thurs, etc...

Friday:
Upper body only tonight....would soooo rather skip workouts tonight as i don't love Friday night workouts after a full work week , but, I already skipped once last weekend....so, I'm just trying to just maintain my progress here...
 
...so thankful on Wednesday i got full body out of the way - Wednesday's workout ended late but thankful it's now completed and friday is upper only...!
 
no extra cardio - have a strength workout already in play for tonight as prev mentioned...and do NOT want to prolong the night with any other activities including cardio!
 
Friday Eats:
wrap 110 whole wheat with ricotta 100, coffee x2 50 and banana 120..400...
 
snack: almonds chocolate granola bar 150
 
lunch: will be a white rice 150 / chili combo 250...with fruit x2 also 100 and a chocolate 50 or two 100...maybe i go out for an energy drink but prob the best bet would just be yet another coffee...ugh...or i can get a diet coke, which is better/cheaper than an energy drink...yeah...  550
 
...something like that...will leave office for a quick run to the nearby gas station that has a huge selection, right around the corner at work during lunch after i say hi to my sister who might actually walk by with her baby...she lives under a 1/2 mile away! for real! it's a coincidence that i'm working near where my sister lives (she lives in an apt in NYC and stays with my parents most weeks with her baby because he attends a school program from 2 year olds near parents for now)...forgot to bring my wallet when i went to meet my sister and didn't want to come back and forth into the workplace a thousand times...so not buying anything to drink during lunch
 
snack: 2 chocolates and a coffee...which only made me hungrier as caffeine always does...one more choc, too mcuh caffeine, counteracting that!
 
6pm dinner: not sure now...prob will be mcdonalds that i get on the way home (will actually pick it up in NYC before heading out on the train to queens, after i stop at the supermarket also in nyc, and heat up quickly in oven once i get home.....veggies are prob a better choice, mcdonalds not going to fill me enough....shredded lettuce drizzled with curry sauce 100, nuggets 200, fries 300...600, cup goldenberries 50
 
8:30pm wafers before a SHORT workout....200, 10:45pm 2 more wafers just finishing workout 100

(red / green peppers, baby bok choy?, eggplant?, little bit of carrotsi have onions that i totally forgot to pay for / take out of my bag at the supermarket! a bad accident! it was only two little ones is the reason, ...no stir fry...will be using up veggies and only buying bagged spinach to heat and eat with the leftover curry from last night...freeze it for individual portions for next week's lunch. and also need to pick up some more veggies, specifically for the pigs of which i may eat some of. (1 cilantro/1 lettuce/no more tomato bc lip scab on one of my pigs/1 carrot/ 3 peppers)...I may do this after work by work and get cash back at the key food here by work, before heading home for the weekend...just to make everything easier...and buy some change of different bread.

I think i want to write a book in the far future, once i am done taking classes. I can't say what about or anything, but, it would be a cool endeavor that i'd spend prob over a year doing, or more.  just wanted to get that out on paper. Something i would start like next Fall, maybe work on after my 39th bday and hope to finish by my 40th or close to that time, slightly after by the time i turn 41 in 2.5 years from now. this is all just a hypothesis at this point.  for any other details, you'd have to message me on fb.

Do you just spread the ricotta on the tortilla....do you warm it? Sounds good...I think I have only bought ricotta once in my life many years ago...and it was drier than cottage cheese...not even sure if it's available around here.....will check that out.

YES, it is drier than cottage cheese which is exactly why i like it. calories are almost identical AND i found a lower fat option...it's only around 90 cals for a whole 1/4 cup which is a good amount to spread on a tortilla. since i'm at work, i just spread it on an untoasted tortilla and find it tasty with a coffee. I wouldn't do that with cottage cheese as it's not as a thick concistency and i therefore wouldn't find it good on tortilla like i found the ricotta to be....and ricotta is better calories than sour cream (i was first going to buy sour cream to eat with my chili, but settled on ricotta which i realized would also work in breakfast wraps!)....so i can use ricotta a lot so that it doesn't spoil.

no warming things at work as much, unless i want to warm lunch in microwave. there is a toaster, but i have no patience, LOL!

I will look for ricotta the next time I shop.....When we lived downstate we had a lot of different stores to choose from and they were a lot bigger. I think I bought it to put in lasagna....sounds good and a good source of protein and calcium I'm sure. Thanks for all of the info.

HOP, what kind of book? A memoir? I gave up research biology for writing. Wrote 20 novels, sold 4. Sold more dumb short stories for women’s mags than I can count. Sold articles & photos to bird mags, (own parrots), wrote a newspaper column. Wrote papers & chapters in textbooks while doing bio research. And a bit more.

A friend has asked me to co-write a biography. Not sure I will. Too much work!

Very easy to self-publish on Amazon etc these days. I know ppl who do ok that way, but are obligated to spend much time promoting themselves. Once in a while self-published books go big and are picked up by big publishers. I

This is most prob what i will do, i have a friend who self-published and is always self-promoting...her book is VERY subjective and quite crazy she wrote what she did. all about things people said on the jobs she worked on as an electrician and all the rudeness projected towards her as a female electrician!
