Your soup looked delicious!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/13/2020:
thank you...it was on the VERY HEALTHY side and virtually fat free (since i made it without skin - though i do know that with skin is tastier / also healthy)

happy-1 on 01/13/2020:
Awesome portion control!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/13/2020:
YES, today was a great day so far!!! :)

bearcountrygg on 01/13/2020:
Yes that soup did look good......Is there something that would counter the onion? Potatos remove salt...but not sure about onion.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/13/2020:
my mom said i should use more carrot perhaps! great thoughts you bring up here!

Donkey on 01/14/2020:
Well done, in spite of some difficulties!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/14/2020:
thanks Jdonk!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/14/2020:
it was also some walking last night, which was good, but my ankle has been sore, so that wasn't good to have the walk last night, but the good thing is it's done and over with now :)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/14/2020:
i mean i had to walk in city a bit to get home :)

Love scrambled eggs...haven't had those for awhile!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/13/2020:

Donkey on 01/11/2020:
Pumpkin!

PS this sleeping- alarm clock thing has never been so bad with me as it has been lately. If we're psychically connected, perhaps I am bringing you down. I will try to use that as motivation to get up in a timely manner.

horn_of_plenty on 01/12/2020:
This yogurt was great indeed!

I think it might be somewhat the dose of medicine I’m taking that has me so tired in the mornings ! Weird ! I’m sleeping more than ever ! Didn’t think I could sleep more !

Donkey on 01/12/2020:
Ah yes, could be the meds! That's why I do not like taking NyQuil at night. Really helps me get to sleep, and works on clearing the congestion, but pulling myself out of bed in the mornings is like pulling taffy. And then, my head feels kind of cloudy for the first hour or so.

I need to work on getting out of bed when my alarm radio goes off...i got ready in 15min again today. Bad habit is persisting since the New Year.

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 01/10/2020:
Are you looking for the big sheets of seaweed?

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/10/2020:
no....small strings of it that are mostly colors green and sometimes white....or other smaller and skinny type of seaweed and def not the thick/fat cuts.

...looking for soft and airy type...i'll find a photo

bearcountrygg on 01/10/2020:
I've never seen that type.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/10/2020:
i posted the seaweed salad, its a wakame type...

Horn_of_plenty on 01/11/2020:
i think it's mostly pre-made already, cut up already, and that's the way to buy this type...

bearcountrygg on 01/11/2020:
Oh...It's fresh seaweed.......I'm wondering if that is available in the U.S......could it be something available in Japan?

Horn_of_plenty on 01/11/2020:
for some reason, this type is not sold online as dried so i can make it myself...i think they cut the seaweed up and use a few different types in the salad. i wonder why it's only sold as pre-made and not just dried so i can make it. interesting.

bearcountrygg on 01/11/2020:
I see thrive market online carries a couple of brands ( might be dried).....Have you checked Whole foods?

Horn_of_plenty on 01/11/2020:
i will check out thrive.

I did check Fairway, similar to whole foods, and they didn't have it...

seems it's only available pre-made...that's fine, i guess i'm not making my own seaweed salad with these types of seaweed - i can always experiment with a different type of seaweed, we'll see...

i guess i have to buy it premade.

Donkey on 01/11/2020:
That comment you made about your alarm clock and getting out of bed --- I am SO struggling with that lately. I've even put my phone (alarm) on the dresser, so that I have to get up to turn it off. You would think that would work, but somehow I end up back in bed. Twice! (2 alarms)

If you find a solution or helpful hint, please let me know, because this bad habit is really causing me problems!

horn_of_plenty on 01/11/2020:
Yeah I have gotten into a habit that really I never had so bad as this ! I’m ready to fix it up a bit...

I used to read a lot of romance novels - loved them because of the easy read, it was so relaxing to read something mindless!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/09/2020:
yes, relaxing and mindless is fine for me right now :) it's so easy to read :)

bearcountrygg on 01/09/2020:
My mother in law used to have a subscription to those little romance novels...she loved them......OKAY...now I have to look up jalfrezi!!! You eat the most interesting things I have never heard of...LOL

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/09/2020:
I only know of this stuff because i used to work in an extremely Indian/ethnic area. I was able to learn what i liked by working there, in Queens. When i was moved to NYC, i was also lucky because i have a restaurant around 2 blocks away that has takeout Indian food. :) There are still not many Indian restaurants in Manhattan, but tons in some areas of Queens. So i got lucky that my workplace is near a very simple Indian takeout place which always has a line at lunch and has done really well here, in NYC! It's right near Rockefeller Center :) I'm glad you like my foods. The Jalfrezi is a veggie one so only veggies in a spicy tomato sauce - but i asked for it not to be too spicy and thankfully it's just right. So healthy.

happy-1 on 01/09/2020:
I did not realize seaweed salad is made from dried seaweed... Lots of sodium though! 1200mg per serving????

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/10/2020:
lots of sodium, but also lots of health :) yes, i believe it's usually made from dried..

happy-1 on 01/09/2020:
And speaking of romance novels... I actually met Fabio once.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/10/2020:
hmmm which Fabio!?

Donkey on 01/11/2020:
^ There's more than one Fabio???

Good to drive the car so that the battery doesn't run down.....that kept happening to my Moms...and it was frustrating.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/08/2020:
Yes, that's a good point as well!

innerpeace on 01/08/2020:
Practice is good, I hope you are ok. Our work car's battery dies too just after sitting over the holidays. We have to take it into the shop. This will be two batteries in four months.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/08/2020:
yeah, since i am not driving much, i need to get more practice in during the week. i've gotten really out of touch with my driving.

legcramps on 01/08/2020:
Has it not been driven for awhile? I can't even imagine that...where I live, that's the only way to get anywhere!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/08/2020:
yes, you heard that right!

i commute by bus/train to work and the lack of driving has caught me off guard and makes me nervous on the roads. So now i am trying to get some driving in after work.

happy-1 on 01/08/2020:
good portion control today

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/09/2020:
thank you...it ended better than expected since lately my evening meals are just too big...i did good!

Donkey on 01/09/2020:
Both you and the car benefit from your practice. I hope it went well.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/09/2020:
i went ok :) thank you!! and yes, the car benefits as well ;)

I used to love watching jeopardy! I am so bad at trivia ;)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/07/2020:

also, it's only 30min so it goes so quickly.

also, veggie curries and dishes in general i love so much. so so much! i'm glad you will enjoy some yourself!

I have a jar of pesto here but I don't know what to pair it with...I was thinking pasta but i see chicken on your post....do you put it on that? Either way..I've been a little hesitant because it has walnuts in it...( was very allergic years ago...but haven't tested that too much in years)....

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
i took two big spoons of it and mixed it up with the chicken and the cabbage. i wanted something "hearty" and to add some fat to the cooked cabbage and low fat chicken, to make the meal more satisfying with healthy fats....yes i just topped the meal with it.

bearcountrygg on 01/05/2020:
That is good to know...I've been wondering how to use it...it's a small jar and I think it sounds like it would be really good on chicken....Thanks HOP!! You are such a creative cook!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
Thanks BCGG...i get ideas from you and our other fabulous members here :) it really makes a difference. my can of it is quite thick and very oily, so i only use a little, but it is very good. no nuts in mine.

Donkey on 01/05/2020:
Most pesto has pine nuts, not walnuts. However, I'm not sure that's enough reason to take a chance on an allergic reaction!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/06/2020:
pesto is sooo good...and healthy. just rich!

Oh cooked cabbage sounds delicious! I am planning to bake eggplant today - and finally get around to stewing my cranberries! (I'm so far behind...)

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
your cranberry recipe really changed things for me for the better! i now use a whole cup of erythritol or similar sweetener and a cup of water as well as enough gelatin to make it into a gel. it's nice and big and lasts longer than when i just cooked the cranberries and added liquid stevia! thanks!

bearcountrygg on 01/04/2020:
Oatmeal is sounding good to me lately too......I have always had so much success when i eat cravings....my system is quite accurate with cravings and they always seem to be sated when I eat that. Your fish sounded so good the other day...and now that I've had fish for a couple of days I've had enough for awhile...need to get on the oatmeal now!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
yeah, i enjoy fish mostly just salmon with my parents. i may start baking more meat / fish again, but first i need to finish the prepared stuff i have in my fridge - purdue chicken that is already cooked and deli meats...oatmeal i really enjoy in the morning hours.

happy-1 on 01/04/2020:
I need to get on the oatmeal too.

horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
I love it in mornings ! Very filling with yogurt too!
