exercise: FIVE miles! wonderful!

variety didn't exist today with my food choices. At least a got a good amount of fruit in and 2 yellow peppers! haha.

B: apple, cereal, milk: 250 :)

lunch: yogurts, cc: 260

snack: cereal, milk, cc: 280

snack: 2 yellow peppers, lg apple: 190.

dinner: cereal/milk: 250

total: 1230 = AWESOME

i decided to try to find insurance today for students and it didn't work very well...so now it's 5:30 and i've snacked a little more than i could have so i'm going for a walk then picking up something microwavable for dinner. i'm not in the mood for tofu/brown rice tonight even though i like it very much. i need to get up the motivation and perhaps even go on my favorite 5 mi walk (not in the mood for 6 mi).

also, i am in the mood for something a little rich for dinner. not in the mood for lower calories. maybe going on the walk will make me feel better! I know it is better to come home and get out of the house ASAP or I start the binge process really easily but it was 4pm and I wanted to make calls about insurance before it was too late!

no other interesting news to report today!

I have found that I like the Chicken Artichoke Spinach Lean Pockets...Not too bad in cals/fat/sodium...It is rich in flavor...Nice with a little Tossed Green Salad...

Hope you can get out and about...I give bets that if you go "5", you will talk yourself into "6" when you get to the "5".... Check in on ya a bit later... I went my 6 this morning, but still may go another 2 when Ben has his 1 hour warm-up before the game.....

5 miles is SUPER!... I am sure you could run circles around me easily anyday...If you don't feel like going more, then don't!.. It is best to do what you feel is best, cause to overdo it can mean burn-out quickly...

total: 1470. i laugh since i was trying to go for a day in the 1200s or at most 1300s. Will try again tomorrow. The good thing is that I took a walk and did hot yoga.

I am still around 129 because of the binging last week. It took longer than expected to get back! But i'm here. By the end of this week, I'd love to see something around 127-128. I guess high expectations never work out so i should settle for something logical.

today is a good day. and I am looking foward to yoga. I want to bike there but I think it will leave me too hot and sweaty. so, i'll bike LATER at the park. i may bring a lawn chair there and do some reading too.

8:45am Breakfast: peach, fiber one, puffed rice, milk: 230 :)

snack: none.

12:45pm lunch: ultima 10 calorie drink mix after yoga, yogurts, cc :)270 I was actually full after the cottage cheese but decided to eat the yogurts anyway.

2pm snack: veggies and teryaki salmon, peach...280 calories too much. I left the house too late and ate all of this just about one hour after I had lunch!

6pm snack: soy chips 140

7:30 dinner: brown rice, tofu, veggies, dressing, salad, 6 ounces raspberries, peach (obviously a little overboard!) 540

Progress as of today: 6 lbs lost so far, only 14 lbs to go!

As for your calories, you know, just embrace these 1470, sounds great to me! Today I was shooting for 1500 and ended up around 1875. I was going to whine about it to myself, but then i thought it is sunday, i went out and had a great time and a beer and ice cream and i checked my calorie calculator and i am still in weight loss zone, so it's pretty okay.

Girl, is there something you cant do? That's a good plan you have. Politics.. yikes! I agree with you there. Sounds like a good investment and a good career plan. You should not stop playing music though. I love horns! Xo.

The day was not totally destroyed. i went on a 1.5 hour stroll. ate a quart of pickles (way too much sodium).

Total calories: 2250

Big breakfast. I felt very hungry as well as bingy upon waking up probably due to the large dinner I had.

7am B: peach, 2 cups fiber one, milk, cinnamon, cc: 440.

10am S: too many carbs: 2 peaches, 2 light activia yoguts: 220

11:15am L: tuna, bbq sauce, lettuce, tomatoes 175 apple 130, 11 chocolate milanos 1020 total, not in the mood to eat light today...3 servings chips 500 and i really want a burrito.


definitely need to rent a movie or two to keep my mind off food later.

goals for the rest of the day: eating: minimal. i will take today off from most exercise unless i feel inclined for a short walk. perhaps return the clothes that don't fit my grandma.

goals for tomorrow: 1200 cal. be successful. don't give in at the drop of a hat. lose the weight and don't stay stagnant. yoga in am. walk in pm.

I admire you SO MUCH for buying clothes for your Grandma. I loved my Grandma VERY MUCH but you know what? I don't remember EVER buying her anything. She was always there for me and was such a wonderful person. You are a FANTASTIC Grandaughter!!!

You know what, Horn? I don't think the hours of walking yesterday helped the scale any this morning...it was still at 152. So...I'm still 'sailing' to Island 151...oh well. That's the way it goes sometimes, huh?

Hey HoP,

I read yesterday's entry and I can SO relate to things in the workplace getting you down. My workplace gets so tense sometimes and I have to remember that it doesn't involve me and I need to do what's best for me - in which I end up ignoring their behaviours and continuing on with my day as cheerfully as possible. Sometimes it doesn't work as well as it is written though, and that's frustrating. I hope things get better for you!!!

dinner: I will NOT call dinner a binge. instead, i will say I splurged on dinner. Soup, salad, dressing, 2 cups strawberries: 400, followed by: 2 tbls pb, 2 servings of ritz crackers (an extra 350 cal) total 750.

total 1740. I will say that I do not mind this calorie count for today mainly due to the awesome exercise i did.

i know i walked more than five miles. I am not sure exactly what my mileage is, but i'm hoping it's between 6.5 and 7. :) probably closer 6.5...I hope it's this much!!!

so, I probably burned at least 2200 cals today. hopefully.

My goal is to have calorie counts in the 1500s during the weekend - and not more.

in terms of yoga, my plan is to go on Sunday morning and probably not tomorrow morning especially bc its 10pm now and i just finished dinner. i'm full.

if there is a happy hour, i don't plan on attending after work. mainly, i will not be seeing ANY of my coworkers next year and I would rather exercise than have to sit around while people drink.

i spoke to a friend last night and she helped me realize how important it is NOT to let the actions of others in the workplace affect me so much. It'll only make it harder for me and who wants that!? so i have next week, then i might have jury duty the week after, and then it's the last week of school! 3 more weeks!

most of my salads during the week are, unfortunately, from restaurants. luckily i work for a company in which i can pretty much control the menus and they can be fairly healthy if i want them to be. i am always able to find grilled protein and steamed or salad veggies on most menus. portion control is hard for me too- i like volume eating since i am a binge-er by nature...when i make my own salads i really try to just cut everything methodically and slowly-enjoying the art of it. try not to pop things in my mouth while standing because that is a huge trigger for me. sometimes if i am making a meal at home, i try to eat an apple, yogurt, or a handful of nuts first if i am preparing something that will take a long time. salads are a sure bet though and that is the ONLY way during the week that i would get some semblance of all of my veggies. hope you have a great weekend!! xoxo ps- what are your salad tips? any other toppings you add?

i am officially going to win the DD award for most complaints! I am so sick of teachers who regard Teaching Assistants as being INVISIBLE. today i'm in the faculty room and a teacher i work with ALL the time came in. He said hello to the nurse and ignored me completely, as usual. I just though it was so obnoxious. If you say hello to one, don't you usually acknowledge the others. boy do some of these teachers (not all of them of course) need a MAJOR wake up call. I may say things or outwardly say hello to those who never really even look at me when they pass. that's really why i don't say hello either - these certain teachers even make it more obvious by turning their heads down or like walking the manhattan streets, making believe they've never even seen you before. what a disgrace...it gets to me now and again.

Re: eating more veggies: I love veggies too! I am definitely eating more veggies than I used HOWEVER since I started going my wholistic counselor, I noticed that I felt guilty about eating veggies that weren't organic, un-microwaved and grown locally. I get so discouraged that I freak out and head for processed foods likes chips and guacamole (LOL). I know that it is not perfection but progress, right?

People are so RUDE! Imagining having to pretend you don't see someone just to get out of saying "hello" . . . that is sad and pathetic.

People are only big in their own eyes...And certainly people should not be valued according to their worldly positions they hold or don't hold, however in this world, that IS the way it IS sometimes with some people...not saying it was that way with that person who you felt ignored you...only the Lord knows...we have to be very careful to not judge anyone...but just know that you are a very valuable person regardless of what position you hold or don't hold. (Which I know you do!)

I have an interesting plan for this afternoon. I'm going to go to the mall that I would NEVER run into anyone at instead of the other mall so that i can dress in workout clothes. i need to get the clothes i promised for my grandma and then i will go workout for a little at the gym.

Thank you to all of you for rooting for me despite not being perfect!!! Like all women should learn, perfection doesn't exist!

Today may not be a 5 star day but I have managed to pull through. I had a binge during breakfast...

Breakfast: watermelon, oatmeal with some added fiber one on top, peanut butter sandwich, extra 4 tablespoons pb, cup raspberries, and haha, not a breakfast food: 2 marinated and grilled yellow peppers. haha, they were in the fridge from a bbq. don't ask! i'll eat anything when i binge. it totaled around 1200.

snack: cc (even though i didn't want it bc of my full stomach, i could tell my blood sugar would get too low if i didn't).

lunch: yogurts/cc: 270

snack: a bad choice, diet Monster drink: 20

cereal: 150


dinner: 2 cucumbers with light dressing, chicken filet, lg. apple, tea. 330

total: 2040. alright based on what i had for breakfast!

ok. moving on tomorrow forgetting about today.

Just have something 'lite' for dinner and let it go.

Your walking at the mall and looking in stores to buy clothes for your Grandma (how sweet!!!) will work off some of those binge calories.


You'll probably come out 'even' for today after all you are going to do with the shopping and working out at the gym.

See, when I read about you saying that about mall in work out clothes, I wonder why. You're at 129 and you're young, I am sure you have a cute little figure, so i dont understand why not going to the mall in work out clothes. I go anywhere, I even go to brunch in workout clothes on sundays with my friends after we take belly dance classes. We need to stop caring about what others will think. And in this case, they will only think "oh she's working out, she's being good, i wish i was too". That's what i think when i see a cute girl in workout clothes at the mall. xoxo

I hate doing averages of multiple days because that means i have been binging and that i'm just trying to make the average of a few days acceptable before beginning again on a diet. But i had to because of Saturday. So, the average of these past 4 days is approx. 2070. I think that now I can finally continue on my weight loss journal after working through this first half the week. :) I'm ready!

B: strawberries, cereal, milk: 220

S: cc 110

lunch: yogurts, cc: 270

snack: large apple, cereal/milk: 280

snack: peach

dinner: amy's tofu rice and veggies, 8 ounces cooked mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, one whole cucumber, and 1/2 cup watermelon. i ate past full because the amy's meal was too good to waste and i didn't want to save or throw it away. still a low calorie meal. 400

total: a good 1320. very little exercise though. just 1.5 miles. maybe i'll lift weights or something later but i can't guarantee that!

its been a good day, but i am still lethargic. i cannot dream of not walking my 6 mi walk today! i will go soon - or maybe i'll just go to my other favorite park to walk AND bike! :) before i go, i need to clean up around here and also iron all my pants. i keep having to iron each pair every morning as i wear them because i haven't done them all at once which would make mornings a little less complicated! :)

as this year progressed, i noticed a DEFINITE DECREASE in arm muscle mass. some of it i have lost and with the wait gain, i have increased the amount of fat on my arms. I don't ever want to have issues with my arms since i never really had issues before. i am looking to start lifting weights, just small weights, while watching tv at night! uh huh, that's my plan hehe. just arm weights. i used to do weight workouts 2-3 days a week but stopped last year so that's a major why my arm muscle decreased. i used weights for my lower body, too, but i'm not interested in doing that right now.

Listen, you want to change your arms? Do push-ups every night. Modified (girl-style), boy-style, incline, decline, whatever. I did this for one month as a challenge to myself. I had to do at least 2 sets of 15. And I usually did more than that. Let me tell ya, by the end of the month, my arms were looking mighty good, if I do say so myself.

yoga is so great for your whole body- always helpful...menu is good, but you might be lethargic from all of the dairy and sugar and no real grains or veggies. maybe alternate with some whole grains (quinoa, oatbran, 5-grain cereal with b vitamins), tofu, veggie patties, chicken or fish- some steamed or raw veggies. always give me a LOT of energy. love you

Thanks for all your comments to me. I wish I could do some arm exercises. I used to do them all the time and my arms were a lot better. Now I have a lot of shoulder pain so I don't do them anymore. Nope Nope Nope...Only medical field for me is Pharmacy. Even then , when I did work in that field (8 years)...If I saw someone bandaged ot in pain...I had to sit... The thought of ANYBODY in pain, just sets me off...Sometimes that changes with having children, but most of the time I am weak kneed... I can get through the treatment in an emergency situation, but after it is all said and done the let down sets in...Get me a gurney! : - )

i feel like i am becoming very moody lately...but actually its lasted quite awhile. since not this past weekend, but the weekend before! time to think more positively again! :) at least most of the weight i lost has not been regained with one day of bad eating.

Progress as of today: 6 lbs lost so far, only 14 lbs to go!

Trying to "be good" through the PMS (pre) PMS (process of) AND PMS (post) ~ We sometimes just don't feel we have a chance at being unmoody do we?... Just know that each time we pass through the B.M. (bad mood) and tighten up our sinches on the reality of what food is intended for (life sustainment), each time after that will be a little bit easier to go through.... It is called a "track record" or "reputation"....Make a good reputation WITH yourself and feel good about it!

I never liked the idea of alergy shots but this spring was really bad for me. The doctor says that if I take shots for 2 months - once a week - before Christmas, then I'll be in much better shape to face the tree polen (oak, ash, and half dozen other trees that grown prolific in the area) in the spring. I hope he is right. I don't like the idea of taking shots, though.

And I think alergies and weight control do not go together. I tend to eat more to ameliorate the miserable symptoms of allergies. Another reason to take care of my allergies.

although i spent most of the day sitting around and cleaning just a little, i did go for a wonderful 6 mi walk! :)

breakfast cereal,milk,pcc,yogurt: 430

lunch: peach, tomato, teryaki salmon: 240 and cucumber 270

snack: cereal and milk w. cinnamon: 150..and strawberries: 200

dinner: microwave amy's lasagna, yogurt, cucumber with light dressing, small peach 450

total for today: 1350 - very acceptable, especially after yesterday's free for all!

sunday entry:

arg. a little upset about yesterdays binge. i don't think yoga is a great idea today and if i do feel better i'll go to the park for a walk later in the day. I allowed myself to feel stressed out for little reason this weekend.

on Friday, the i got a very unspecific, but detailed enough review of the work I have done this year as an assistant teacher. Basically, I was rated 1 to 4 based on how I performed certain tasks. I mostly got the highest mark, 1, for everything. I got a 2 on two things, one being assisting with lesson plan preparation. The teacher I assist does most of that! duh! or i'd be a teacher. The other 2 i got was on organization. i thought i was fully organized so i'll bring that up with the teacher i assist to see what she means.

then, at the end of the review, there were a few comment sections. one of them was "improvements for next year." well, the principal/teacher that i assist wrote that I should continue to work with kids and follow my desires. lol! That stressed me out bc this whole year i have been preparing to go to radiography school in september. And that's what I am still doing! Of course i still do this job well and sometimes feel like i'm putting on an act (just like everyone does at times in life) to be the best i can be and so the kids enjoy being with me. what else is new.

my whole life i feel like i'm being pushed and pulled into careers and other things i just don't want to do. many times i don't even know what i want to do.

i woke up a little later today which is great. went shopping at the supermarket and had breakfast and now i want some fruit. so i'm having it. have a good day everyone.


saturday late entry:

not really sure why i binged except i was REALLY tired and my sister was making me more than frustrated as she came home from the city for the night. huh. it's up to me to make good choices. now i'll be behind in my weightloss. i'll make up by continuing to do well starting now.

pm edit: shooot! i binged! i'll list it: started with dinner: tofu and canned soup...then: 4 servings potato chips, pb sandwich, chocolate bar, 2 servings ice cream, chocolate candy, 4 servings ritz crackers, cream cheese, 4 milano cookies, dried fruit. if that's not a binge, i don't know what is. ugh. oh well. tomorrow i must start fresh. oh, piece of gum

total calories today: 4300.

last binge of 4500 was May 13 which was 18 days ago. eesh. I can do better than this!

I know what it is to binge...I have found in the past that I was easy to binge because of stress or hunger caused from exercising or both. Like you, once I get started, I've had the 'oh well, I've done it so I may as well eat ALL I WANT...

I hope you get to feeling better. You've done your best and it sounds like not only that but you've done a good job!

You're young, so don't feel like you 'have' to continue in a career you may not be wanting to stay with.

I know what you mean. When I went to college I wanted to go into travel. My father and step mother talked me into going into Paralegal/Legal Assistant. Well I don't like that kind of work. So I am a degree I don't even use. I am not sure where I want to work. I am hoping to get my job back up at the popcorn plant, but I will just have to see. Most important thing is to follow your dreams. What you want to do, not what others think you should do. Hang in there and you will find that job that is right for you and makes you happy. Yep! 6 miles is a great distance and makes one feel very good to be bale to do it, getting easier each time..... Today seemed to go by so fast, but probably because I was walking off "steam"....Reilieved the H/A !!!!!! YEA!!!!!

i struggled through yoga today and was tired the rest of the day. went for a walk with my 87 yr old grandma and couldn't believe her stamina. I felt like I was going to pass out the whole time.

so i'm taking a break for the rest of the night and I am letting my body relax. I ended up not picking up a movie at blockbuster like i had planned and there's like nothing to watch on TV!

breakfast: cereal/milk 200

snack: greens packet in my water after yoga 35

early lunch: apple and p.cc and yogurt: 320 and strawberries: 380 feeling a bit bingy. :( but i'm stopping now.

snack: yellow pepper, salt/pepper flavored soy chips: 180 two huge bottles of powerade zero

snack: 2 yellow peppers 60 and peach

total so far: 895.

perhaps i'll go out to pick up a video, but it's highly unlikely.

Thank you for your advice and support! I realy appreciate it! Great job going to yoga! I wish i took pilates classes, but I just have a DVD that I do three times a week. You really start seeing results after about 2 weeks.

By the way, the Wii Fit is great fun but I wouldnt call it a serious piece of kit !! You can get a sweat on, using it, but I dont imagine its as good as a yoga class. What it does do is make you competitive with other members of your household who use it as well. Its good for a laugh :)
