Wednesday edit: i'm feeling horrible...i should remember this and remember not to binge next time!

no exercise.

ok, my 19 day calorie average is currently 2044. not so hot. i just had a large binge, for dinner no less! plus, i've opted not to exercise. this is a perfect time to get work done...i am satiated to the point of no return...like i can just sit and do my work and forget about most things. If you had a sugar load like i just had, you'd understand! it involved lots of leftover candy, cookies, powerbars, chocolate, lays chips, and other carb/sugar rich things in my house. (that i don't buy, but eat; and get in trouble for!)

well, the bloated feeling is back!

today should have been an easy low cal day! even 1500 is a high number compared to what i was capable of!

total cal: 3640. no exercise.

dinner calories were 2650, by the way.

blah blah.

3640 for the day! big mistake, huh!?

wantabfit on 04/17/2007:
Try frequent small meals during the day to avoid over eating at the end of your day. This is what works for me; eating every three hours..about 300 cals to keep my engery up and metabolism working. Don't be so hard on your self...jump back on the diet train...Weds is a NEW day!

sharklover on 04/17/2007:
Oh I am very familiar with those 3000+ calorie days! I'm not really sure how they happen for me, but maybe if you ahve some insight on what causes it for you that would be a good place to start to try to correct it.

And wantabfit has a very good point, wednesday is a new day! All you have to do is make it better (how much better is up to you) than today. And you will be moving in the right direction again! Easy as pie! wait, no... easy as broccoli! yeah, broccoli, that's better. :-)

jolt on 04/18/2007:
Binging isn't the best idea. Can you focus on why you binged, upset? lacking something? and come up with a plan with how to deal with it later. Owning up to your mistake and not making excuses is a great thing.

Hang in there you can do it!

jon'smom on 04/18/2007:
You acknowledged your binge and now it is time to move on. Just remember how you feel this moment. Hang in there!

WorkingIt2 on 04/18/2007:
Do you do a 21 day cycle? Just curious because I read something about weight being factored over a 21 day period and have been looking for information on that ever since. Do you factor in the calories you burn from your exercise into your daily total or do you just count the calories and average from that? I know that my averages would be much bigger if I didn't factor in the calories burned, and I think that is when I get really hungry when I don't eat enough. So if you are eating 1200 calories for a few days in a row..but burning 300 extra calories via exercise..it might be triggering your body to EAT EAT EAT because it fears it is starving. After a couple of binge days, does the desire to overstuff yourself go away? It just makes me sad to see you feeling so bad, especially after you felt so successful after the weekend! ***HUG*** I know you will pull yourself out of this!

Moody on 04/19/2007:
I just wrote you a big ol post and my computer went spastic on me and it didn't post!!!!! I just wanted to say that I understand the binges and you received alot of good advice and insight from the other posters...something I know about myself is that when I binge it usually stems from emotions...the other thing that will set off a binge is if I eat a trigger food..like peanut MnMs. Then I will be rooting around for anything full of sugar or carbs..I am better off avoiding certain foods because they literally set me off.

Take care and I hope that Thursday is a wonderful day for you!

ah, one more thing...i felt really good today in my clothes as it was a Monday, and usually I binge on the weekend. However, this weekend was better, and I felt more "myself." not the stuffed person I usually feel like...and it felt really good to feel like myself and not some pillow person!

calories: 1200.

exercise: 20 min.

goodnight all!

busy week ahead!

WorkingIt2 on 04/16/2007:
Great job on the calories and exercise! Have a lovely evening!

exercise: 60 minutes of yoga. no walking, didn't feel like it.

haha. somehow, calories are exactly what my goal was: 1790. complete with seriously terrible intakes of a massive amount of splenda, equal, and articifial sugars. blah. i'm not concerned about that at the moment! I even had a whole package of the sugar free jello...you know, the 6 little cups, each one being 10 calories. gosh!

so, today i ended up waking up quite early...around 7:30am. i decided to go to the 8:15am yoga class and have a carb/protein drink they sell during the class instead of breakfast. that went well. i definitely had a lot to eat when i got home. Most was fairly healthy. total calories consumed until noon are 1390. I'm making a goal of 1790 total for the day.

another update later!

mcwoo40 on 04/15/2007:
Hi,sounds like you are having a good so far, well done on the exercise,Julie

mcwoo40 on 04/15/2007:
Hi,I'm back i don't think i explained my food intake properly.I had my porrigde about 10.30am,then the bagel about 2pm with the nibble of cheese whilst i was cooking the tea tut!tut!I did'nt have it all in one go. I don't have sugar in my porridge, i make it with mostly water and a dash of skimmed milk to cool it down,i have artificial sweetner also in my cups of tea.I seem to of been in a picky mood today which is'nt like me.Anyway thanks for your comment,Julie

greengirl on 04/15/2007:
Hi HoP. Hope your day and calories went as planned. I love doing my exercise in the morning but it is only practical at weekends, because of work. Have a great day :)

maria777 on 04/15/2007:
Looks like a good goal!

GG on 04/15/2007:
CONGRATS on getting to YOGA!! Gotta love those random "IM NOT TIRED ANYMORE" moments in the mornings of weekends so you can do something productive like going to the gym!! Nothing is worse than knowing you have to go to the gym when you are exhausted! MAN, what do you eat in the morning to accumulate 1390 calories??? Good luck on your goal! Do you still eat Kelp Noodles or are you all about Shiraki? I am still obsessed with the kelp ones because I love the crunch and to eat them with tomato paste or roasted vegetables (read my diary entry to understand what I am talking about) haha. Have a good DAY!!

weightlossyoyo on 04/15/2007:
Way to go on the yoga and the protien drink!!

Donkey on 04/15/2007:
Ahh, yoga on an early Sunday morning! That sounds wonderful!! Sounds like it was a good day overall.

wantabfit on 04/15/2007:

calories = 1655. i was shooting for 1700 or so. that means i did well! with a large breakfast of 700 calories, i'm happy about my intake today. Tomorrow is yoga and i really need to get some work done, too!

today has been a nice day! i went for a walk on the boardwalk for about an hour and 20 min! so, exercise = 80 min.

WorkingIt2 on 04/14/2007:
Congrats yesterday AND today! Great work!

WorkingIt2 on 04/15/2007:

edit: saturday morning. i promise this day will NOT be a total loss. breakfast was 700 calories, all healthy foods. just big. however, i plan on a 1700 day. i can do it! easy!

today's gonna be good calorie-wise!...another update later!

exercise: 25 min.

calories: 1200! yay. I was assuming I would have around 1700 today. However, most of the day was very low in terms of stress level; and that helped keep calories low. I only worked a half day...and that gave me time to get very important things done! I went to the music store to pick up pieces for my students, registered for my LAST grad class for my degree, practiced some horn, chilled out!, took a short 10 min nap, went food shopping since i didn't want to exercise before rehearsal, and had ample time to eat! all went well!

this weekend should honestly be just as smooth. I just need to learn to breathe, take it easy! Life wasn't meant to give people ulcers!

maria777 on 04/13/2007:
Good for you!

smiley2 on 04/14/2007:
What a great frame of mind you are in! Great job, keep it up! And dont you just love those extra time in which you can get stuff done lol!

exercise: nada.

calories: 1490.

Donkey on 04/13/2007:
No exercise for me either. And I went way overboard with calories, thanks to a fight with my Husband on my Daughter's birthday. Great. Oh well, we can be couch potatoes together, eh? (Actually, I bet you were really busy...)

of everyone currently using DD, i think my journal has the most "up and downs" lately. whether it's my mood or calories or whatnot, every day is the complete opposite of the next!

so, no exercise...i decided on that early on this morning.

calories today: 1200.

thanks for all of your feedback, it really does help!

tomorrow is my first day back to work after vacation..i'm lucky some people went back today! i just had a college class, but gladly not work on top of that!

have a good day everyone!

Donkey on 04/10/2007:
Good for you! Sometimes when you're having days of extreme up and down, it is good to just STOP everything and focus on one thing, namely the food part. You did a good thing today.

sharklover on 04/10/2007:
Hey, at least that means that you have as many good days as you do bad days. I just had a stretch of a bunch of bad days in a row. Your ups and downs sounds really good to me right about now. :-P

Even so, I hope you start moving into more ups than downs.

wantabfit on 04/10/2007:
good job eating healhty!

GG on 04/10/2007:
well since you did not work out today you will tomorrow since you said your days are the opposite every day!! :) Why are you not in a good mood? Stressed? What college classes are you taking too? THanks for the support too you have been amazing at leaving me comments!! Oh and I just got a new shipment of Kelp Noodles today and I had a tomato-artichoke-olive-summer squash MIX with them and WOW: AMAZING!! With a little basil, salt and peper: superb! ( the chef's downstairs in the cafeteria LOVE ME -- except for the one rude one I was complaining about the other day!)

janu999 on 04/10/2007:
way to go on your calories! : ) o and my green drink tastes like dirt. But it has all the vitamins im missing from not eating meat.Keep up the good work!

borntocry on 04/11/2007:
No way, dude, I have more ups and downs than you. Okay, at least as many! I honestly think that in my life every good day is followed by a terrible one, and vice versa. I seriously wonder if I'm manic depressive or something! But maybe we should look at it as sharklover suggested and just be happy we have as many good days as bad!

i feel incredibly sick right now. nauseous as anything. i ate a ton of candy/powerbars early on in the day. then, had a filling lunch. total calories = 2030. i'm shacky because i had an energy drink and i'm not about to have a lot of food. I'm having kim chi which is made from cabbage and other veggies and spices on top of low cal noodles. my mom and sister are complaining to my dad that the house smells because of the noodles/kim chi and i'm feeling ill and shakey. i don't think i will manage yoga in the morning if i continue to feel this sick. and, its time for a serious diet makeover as i have gained a little weight and i'm starting to get frustrated and upset! BTC, lets do it! oh, its not like i don't plan on eating on the lean cuisines i bought...i'm just planning on being healthier...until i feel better about myself. lol, i said this yesterday, too. blah!

no exercise today. 120 minutes for sunday.

edit: its 2pm and i've already eaten 1940 calories...I still have dinner to go!....today, monday, is far under par. calories are up the wazoo! I'm going to need 13 1200 calorie days in all now...so far, i've only done three 1200 cal days. tomorrow will be another.

update for Sunday: 1200 calories (might have been 1210, but we'll say 1200!) 120 minutes of exercise! 60 min walk and 60 minutes yoga!

Justine6Robert3 on 04/09/2007:
Awesome job on the exercise HOP!!!!!

mcwoo40 on 04/09/2007:
Hi, you have burnt some of those excess cals off through exercising so don't worry too much, have a salad or a bowful of fruit for your dinner something light??Tomorrow is another dieting day!!bye 4 now,Julie

greengirl on 04/09/2007:
Congratulations on the exercise, and the cals arent that bad. You will catch up ok!!!

Donkey on 04/09/2007:
Oh I hope you feel better. I cannot tell you how many times I have eaten to feeling sick, and I TELL myself, "I cannot continue to abuse my body like this again." I definitely recommend eating more moderately, balanced. Powerbars and candy sound akin to the time I ate a whole box of prunes (not something I recommend) or a whole bag of cashews (again, not recommended).

If nothing else, do this (eating balanced) so that your stomach/system gets a break. You can do it!!

janu999 on 04/09/2007:
Thanks for the comment and dont be so hard on yourself.I think forging yourself for tiny regressions helps.Everything takes time, and practice.Take care : )

girliegirl6486 on 04/09/2007:
I HATE that sick/shaky feeling...I hope you feel better soon!!!

borntocry on 04/10/2007:
Okay, HoP, let's do it!! I calculated that I needed 9 1200-calorie days after my trip to London, and so far I haven't even had one! But it was a long weekend, and those are always hard on me. I've got to make this week really count because next week I am back in London. So let's do this together! HEALTHY food - in MODERATION! Put those Powerbars away and save them for an emergency. That's what I did with my stash!

WorkingIt2 on 04/10/2007:
I hope you are feeling better today!

i meant to get some walking in...maybe i will and there will be an update. right now: yoga: 60 min

I resolve to clean up my act and treat my body better. As I stood doing yoga today, staring at my body in the mirror, it upset me to see a larger than normal body looking back at me. not larger by much, no more than five pounds (if that). However, the difference is noticable, jeans are getting tighter. and, why!? I know a whole lot about food, nutrition, calories. definitely more than the average American. so, what am i to do? I'm almost 25...in September. so, why ruin in for myself, when i could look so great and have the time of my life in my mid-twenties!? why!?

I resolve that now is the time...and want to look awesome. I'll have to work harder...and whenever i do make progress, i resolve to admit i deserve it, and not do what i usually do, which is binge and take a few steps in the backwards direction. this week has been difficult, on vacation and with my holiday at the beginning. but, any time is better than never to fix my body and look great!

and, for those wondering, calories totalled approximately 2800 today.

well, vacation and counting calories don't go hand in hand!

breakfast = 1766 calories alone! ahhh!

today will be a high calorie day. i'll be adding another 1200 calorie day to my 1200 calorie days which will now need to add up to 12 days of 1200 in order to reach just below 1800 calories per day as an average.

not bad...i just have to continue on with 1200 calorie days. I have 10 more of them to go! and, they will not be all in a row, that is way to difficult for me!

WorkingIt2 on 04/07/2007:
Now that I eat an average of 1600 calories a day, I don't know if I could have a several day binge and go back to 1200 to balance! Not because of the food, but because of the exercise and my body knowing it might need a little more than 1200 calories. Oh and about the ankle weights, NO won't be using those =) Going to try and save up for the weight vest! Have a great evening and I hope you get to take a nice relaxing walk!

borntocry on 04/08/2007:
Hey HoP! You're right - vacation and counting calories certainly don't go hand in hand, haha! But I have also resolved to "clean up my act" lately. Actually, you were one of the people who inspired me to do this (along with GG and Sandra aka Soul). I've been evaluating my diet and just how much processed crap it contains. As you said, we know so much about health and nutrition - time to put all that knowledge to good use!

greengirl on 04/08/2007:
HOP I too have given in to the not counting cals over the hols mentality but its back to business with a vengeance for me first thing on Tuesday morning, and i mean to be extra good to make up for it. I am determined that in a week I will have a weightloss to record!!!!

smiley2 on 04/09/2007:
I ask myself that question each day - im turning 28 in a few months and i feel that this is the best time of our lives to look our greatest, why is it so difficult then?! Well i guess in a way, we cant have everything our way, with age, comes wisdom, self restraint, self acceptance and a decrease in appetite - roll on 40's lol! No seriously, all we can do is try our best and know in the end that its good enough. Good luck and Happy Hols! Wx
