(My 65 day plan!!! 1400-1500 cals a day! Yeah!)
Weight: 111.8

day 49...1500 calories

I got through the day successfully, meeting and rehearsal. the meeting after school actually ended about 15 minutes early so I drove straight towards the location of the rehearsal and was even able to have a satisfying dinner of a subway wrap and chips before it. that really helped me get through the rehearsal, along with two really cool fiber filled 100 calorie granola bars I found in the university cafeteria.

Tomorrow I teach in the morning and have a meeting in the afternoon. Then, I am going to some kind of staff gathering during happy hour. I'm not a drinker, but i'm going to be social with the staff.....although I'm not even staying past December 23rd! That's what I get since its only a leave position.

Tomorrow should be interesting though...

oh, and a rehearsal tomorrow night, 8-10pm. That's why i don't want to go to this happy hour thing! I haven't exercised wed or thursday and I just want to do stuff for me!!!! I'm sorry, but that's how I feel! In a way, if I am unable to get a full-time leave position/job during the sping semester i will be okay with that. I am way to busy now with college classes, district teacher courses, rehearsals, and teaching. I wouldn't mind concentrating on myself for a few months until summer and then finshing grad school by the end of july and then settling down!

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 1.8 lbs to go!

It is good to be social with the staff. I have taught at some schools where the staff NEVER got together at all. I know your life seems hectic right now.....just keep your chin up!! *smiles*

WOW Great job keeping within your calories!! I remember reading your entries when you were wishing you were busy LOL now, here you are! You are doing so great! I do hope you get some 'me' time very soon, I also think it is very important!

smiley2 on 10/27/2006:
Follow your heart and fulfill your own needs. YOU have to be your first priority, so dont feel guilty when taking some time out for yourself! If you can afford to do it why not! I have taken a year off work for myself to study and do the things i like. Good luck!

Weight: 112.0

Update: no exercise today, not enough time without staying up too late. sadly, no exercise tomorrow either! :( Friday I will, for awhile!!!!

Day big 50!...1490 calories.

I haven't been sleeping for as many hours as I should be and today I came home after stopping at Subway and getting a wrap and chips in addition to a diet orange drink and a whole bottle of water and fell asleep for about an hour! I woke up to my sister speaking rather loudly, as normal. It was good that I got up though! I just ate dinner and its around 7pm. Perfect for getting my work done!

If I finish what I need to, I'll go for a SHORT walk. As long as I move my body, even for 20 minutes, it is something. Maybe i'll try for half an hour, since I just realized that tomorrow I have a meeting after school and then I go right to rehearsal! I'll be home after 10pm, and by then it is bedtime!

Today I did spend more time getting ready in the morning, like I said I would. However, my sister commented saying she couldn't believe what i was wearing as i was about to step out the door! She said my shirt and cardigan were the color of "doodie." hmmm. not good. However, I took that comment with a grain of salt! She is a fashion/business major in college and is always making remarks on what we wear. I figured my outfit couldn't be that bad! haha. As for my face, it isn't getting better. I hope that my appointment for that peel, now on Wednesday next week, does something! Yeah, I'm concerned somewhat about my appearance!

Friday I was gonna work out right after school. But, now I'll be stopping by the bar...I DON'T DRINK... just because that is what the teacher's union does once a month and as a new teacher, i should go. However, I have not spoken to anyone who is going! plus, i have a rehearsal...for two hours...fri night as well! I want to be able to move around fri afternoon! gosh, can't i ever do what i want!? i asked one younger teacher to go, and she said she can't!

today the eating was quite good! good foods: apple, fat free cream cheese, rice cakes, peanut butter, yogurts, veggie burgers, tomatoes, celery, asparagus, wrap from subway and chips, and even one pepperidge farm large chocolate pecan cookie! Somehow, all of that, equals only 1430 cal! Not bad!

goodnight all, and thanks for all of the wonderful comments!

Progress as of today: 0.8 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

borntocry on 10/26/2006:
I also find it amazing that when I try to eat mostly healthy stuff, I can get in quite a lot without going over my calorie limit. However, add in some fries and ice-cream, or a meal out at a restaurant, and pretty soon I'm over 2500 and don't even feel like I've eaten that much.

Keep up the good work!

smiley2 on 10/26/2006:
If you feel good in what you wear....well its all that matters :)

day 51, 1470 calories.

Today I feel much more accomplished than yesterday, when I didn't work out at all and still got to bed rather late! Everything went well at the elementary school and the jazz band kids are really trying hard! I'm VERY impressed with the sounds 5th graders can make on their instruments when they apply themselves.

I went to school with my hair a bit messy today. I didn't straighten/blow dry like I normally do because of lack of planning in the morning. So, I plan to really make my appearance more teacher-like tomorrow. I will look nice; and I have extra time because it is not a band early morning day, which are monday, tuesday, and thursdays.

thanks for all your comments. haha, I love all the cottage cheese responses. They all sound great, evening the ketchup/cheese combo! I'm not sure if I personally would like the dressing one. hmmmm...but thank you!

Have a good evening!

update: 1500, no exercise, had to save my energy and time for other things! There will be pleasant exercise tomorrow, though!

Day 52, monday.

good afternoon/evening...

I was eating lots of different sugar-free products: mainly yogurt (light and fit), soda, ice cream, and nutrition bars. Then, I was doing without them for about one month. Now, I've been having them again. Sadly, I didn't throw them out, Maria! I felt I was gonna regret it and end up buying them again anyway. I also eat plain yogurt and cottage cheese. Geevee and Biscottibody, the other day I decided to have the plain cottage cheese with nothing added in, usually I add in a stoneyfield yogurt or soy yogurt. However, for some reason, I was able to handle it and actually enjoyed the plain taste of cottage cheese. I used to think it wasn't sweet enough and the curds would get to me. Cottgae cheese and fruit is good. However, for some reason, saturday I had a complete binge after I had an apple and cottage cheese. I have no idea why.

so far, so good. Last night I was so tired I practically passed out before reaching my bed! I'm glad a got a pretty good night's sleep last night! I feel like I was able to accomplish a lot because of it today at work. I even stayed after to finish up a few more things!

After reading some journals here, I'm gonna do some work/practice conducting. Only after i do what I need to will I walk on the treadmill. I might go outside, but it's pretty cold and I don't want to get sick because I'm already feeling tired. It'll be for a half hour. Soon after, it'll be time for bed.

My laptop is making some really nasty sounds. It hasn't been very good for awhile and I've only had it for 2 years! Some kind of buzzing sound, like a bug is caught inside it! I hope not!

Progress as of today: -0.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.2 lbs to go!

monet0239 on 10/23/2006:
I love cottage cheese..:).. this may may you sick.. but some tiems I put catsup or french dressing in it.. havent had it like that for a while now..lol.. but its good.. sometimes I add splenda to it.. and sometimes I just add salt and pepper.. depends on my moods..lol..

Hope the pc is ok.. and thanks for you wonderful comments :).. hugs

Moody on 10/23/2006:

I, too, love cukes and tomatoes, ketchup, and also green peppers, hot sauce and every kind of fruit w/cottage cheese. I never buy the flavored yogurts, not because I don't like them, but to save on calories.

Total calories: 1500!!!!! thankfully! I am very happy about that!

there was no food anywhere to be had at the rehearsal and concert. so, i decided to eat something light and fulfilling for dinner to actually stay within the calorie range! it may not be 1200, like I wanted, but it is between 1400-1500. That's all I'm asking of myself.

biscottibody, thanks for all the info on the vitamin B...I love all the info I can get, no matter how descriptive! haha ________________________________________________________________________

day 53, sunday...not as planned.

I had a good breakfast of 300 calories. then, I binged on 960 more about 3 hours later. I think i'm gonna throw out all of the sugar-free/aspartame products because they are so unhealthy and I believe they make me binge more.

so far today (11 am)I have had 1260 calories.

Now i'm off to a rehearsal/concert...

Progress as of today: 0.6 lbs lost so far, only 2.2 lbs to go!

Moody on 10/22/2006:

day 54 - saturday, 2600 calories.

i am planning on 1200 tomorrow. I haven't done that in awhile. The middle of the day is when I have a rehearsal/concert. Therefore, 1200 should be doable, as long as I don't eat too much right when I get up. I'm thinking of having one of those Amy's veggie burgers with squash.

Goodnight everyone! Better tomorrow!

to clarify, Friday was 1460 calories.

Progress as of today: 0.6 lbs lost so far, only 2.2 lbs to go!

good luck with your 1200 plan!

The free pumpkin farm is a privately owned farm that some guy started like 60 years ago. he just grows pumpkins then gives them out. Sadly, he died a couple years ago, and this year is the first in 3 that it's been up again. They even put a statue of him up at a park in Colorado Springs! They called him "the pumpkin man". It was really nice, and my kids loved picking their own pumpkin!

maria777 on 10/21/2006:
Good plan!

As for me, Hubby and I usually eat out at the Golden Corral Restaurant after church on Sundays....so I'm really looking forward to that! Well....I've been real good for days, so it's time to have a 'more' day...not overeat, though!

I hope you have a good evening! Big Smile!

geevee on 10/21/2006:
If you combine FF yogurt w/any kind of fresh fruit, you can avoid those nasty artificial sugars. The natural sweetness of fruit with yogurt, cottage cheese or sour cream is perfect. No additional sugar is needed. To me it's like a rich dessert. Try it and let me know.

update 3: if I eat 2600 calories today and 1200 tomorrow, the average will be 1900 for two days. Not terrible. I'm a little upset I haven't kept my promise of 65 days, 1400-1500 everyday. However, my challenge isn't over. After today and tomorrow, I have 51 (52 including Thanksgiving) days left.

udate 2: it's 9am Saturday morning: already had two bagels along with other things, Calories: 1800 calories...I'm thinking I might as well eat 3000 calories today! NOT a great food day! oops!

update:Saturday morning: very bingy...500 calories for breakfast before 6am...8:30: 410 more calories, 9:00 410 more calories...total: 1320 so far. Not a 1500 calorie day on Saturday :( it's okay. I'll get back to it tomorrow! actually, to be safe, I'm allotting 2500 calories today. I'm splurging.

DAY 55!!! whew!!!! yay, it's the weekend!

I'm back from giving a horn lesson and a rehearsal! Glad to be home. Today I splurged on breakfast, I'm pretty sure it was due to lack of sleep and my body really wanting energy. It turned out being a little under 600 calories. Surprisingly, my day was actually below 1500 today!!!

1460 calories today! No exercise. :( I'm not doing now, when it's after 11 at night!

Next weekend all these long rehearsals will pretty much be over. Maybe i'll get in more "me" time. I'm gonna wait to do yoga till next weekend i think. If i do it this weekend, it's gonna take away too much time from my day. Also, the studio is adding more classes starting next weekend. I'll wait till then.

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 1.8 lbs to go!

maria777 on 10/20/2006:
I used to teach piano.

Good for you staying within your calories budget. You did real well!

geevee on 10/21/2006:
Your calorie budget sounds very much like mine, but you seem to be able to handle them better than I do. If I ate bagels so early in the day, my entire day would be ruined. It's as if the eating is non-stop once I start, so for me, the later the better. Have you tried those square Thomas' bagels? I really like them toasted, but they're so high in calories!

Moody on 10/21/2006:
You're probably right about being so hungry having something to do with the lack of sleep. And you are getting up SO early that it would seem easy to pack in alot of calories by noon; figuring that you've already been up for 7 and half hours at that point! You did great considering how long and busy your day was! Good for you! Thanks for all the great info yesterday btw!!

day 56...1500 calories...

thanks, btc, for your advice on a skin care product...i think i may try it!

I was hoping for something closer to 1400, but i'm not pressing my luck. I had to be up and running for more hours due to the Thursday night band rehearsals, so I made sure I could get through them! The sell some snacks that I love at a campus eatery near rehearsal and during the break I always like to go and see what they have.

I bought some pita chips that surprisingly have 3 grams of fiber per serving even along with a little protein. I bought two bags, but ended up only eating one. Tomorrow morning, I'm having the other in cereal with soy milk and bran cereal. haha, it sounds gross, but i've tried it and like it! I can make any grain/bread product can be made into cereal!

I am very excited for the weekend. My day on Saturday is pretty free and I hope it is beautiful outside. If not, I will have to make other plans. I want to go to the park, and, fix my bike!!!!! Yeah, i still have to do that!

I can't believe how fast this school year is moving along!!! In only a couple of months, it'll be December break! wow! time moves so fast!

Day 57...1500 calories.

thank you for all of your suggestions and feedback!

rjf...I'm not sure I want to forever teach and live where I am. Until I finish my degree, I can't leave. Then, we'll see. I'll probably try to get tenure in a school district (work 3 years in the same place) before possibly relocating or just ending up living around wherever I end up getting a more permanent job! I just want a permanent job, that's what is more important!

Today was alright. I came to school a little later than I would have liked to! I'm either going to have to speed up the morning process or wake up earlier! I wasn't late at all, but I feel like I should be arriving a little earlier so I can organize myself more.

I'm still procrastinating at night, not practicing conducting or my instrument. I will tonight, maybe only 20 min on both. Hey, it's something. I attended a class after school and it ended a bit after 5pm. I stopped by the supermarket across the street after to pick up apples and tomatoes. I got home around 6, got ready to go for a walk, came back around 7:40. Ate. Now, its 8:35 lol! Time goes by too fast! Then, I'll shower, before I know it...time for bed! If i didn't go to the supermarket, which i have to say i enjoy and need to do bc i like having all those veggies and fruits in the house, i would have saved some time.

Everyday this week, I've wasted time. Going to the mall yesterday, to fix my watch. And, I never stay on task...I ended up looking in a few other stores, buying shampoo and 2 100 calorie balance bars, and a drink. I always am buying food/drinks when I'm shopping and doing errands!

I'm looking foward to this weekend. I hope it's nice out because I'll spend it (saturday) outside in the lovely fall weather. Otherwise, I'll go shopping. I don't enjoy clothing shopping, but I think i need a few things like sweaters and a fall jacket since I have a lunch duty where I spend time outside.

Thanks for your wonderful comments.

Until I read your entry from yesterday, I always thought that my mother was unusual. Now I know better!

When I first started teaching, I wasn't in any hurry to leave home and cotinued to live with my paarents. However, after the first year, the situation deteriorated to the point that every single day was occasion for a huge blow up and Id leave for school in tears. And yes, my parents would constantly remind me about how much it cost to be on my own, but after awhile, I was so tired of the fighting that I decided it just wasn't worth the trouble to stay at home, so within a couple of weeks I found an apartment very close to where I was teaching. It was THE BEST decision of my life. My parents were totally surprised that I did that, and I was very happy that I moved.

Thank you for your comments!

day 58...1490 cals! (my mind keeps going for the upper limits of 1400-1500 by the end of the day. I believe this will be the case throughout this diet, but i am following the calorie limit i said i would!) This is not easy, by any means!

I'm not on oral contraceptives and don't really like to be. I was once on them for about 2-3 years. I like being very natural and not on any type of medicine if it't not necessary. However, if my face does not improve (I don't have terrible acne, just usually a few spots around my mouth and chin area) I will go on the pill again!

I do live at home because this is my 3rd year in the workforce and I do not want to splurge on an apartment or house in the area and surrounding neighborhoods. It's expensive and I feel it is a waste of my money as long as I can still live at home. I would say that's what a majority of people do around here.

However, my mom can drive me nuts at times. My friends sometimes advise me to move out. Everything has been fine till just recently, like yesterday. My mom will fight with me so that I don't get the last word...haha, that's absolutely fine with me! The problem is that fighting is something she will do every day. She just picks arguments with people. I personally don't always have that sort of mental energy to spend on her and she really annoys me, to put it mildly.

Then, she will use threatening phrases like "I can't wait for you to move out," or "you'll see what it's like," to torture me when I'm not sure if she means them. She knows it's very expensive to live on your own in the Northeast part of the US where I am from. She says these things without a worry or care in her voice. It actually does frighten me.

I'll tell you why: MY MOTHER HAS NO CONTACT WHATSOEVER WITH ANYONE IN HER ENTIRE SIDE OF THE FAMILY. If it was possible, she wouldn't spend time with my dad's parents either. I have no contact with my mom's family as well. So, there you have it...she is setting me up and annoying me be talking like she wants me out of the house. I don't want it to happen, but sometimes I can't take her saying those things. It's frustrating and simply wrong.

Anyways, the meeting with the music chairperson went very well. She said that she would help me by keeping a lookout of jobs availible in the spring....other leave replacements for band teachers. The job I have now is only a leave position....the teacher is coming back after Christmas break! how sad for me and happy for her!

Goodnight...weight actually was up today and yesterday!

Im sorry to hear about your mother. Maybe you should try and have a "civilized" discussion with her about your fears and dreams, as well as hers. Maybe there is miscommunication and if both of you knows what the other wants, needs and expects, maybe you can come to an compromise or solution. Eg she must stop picking fights with you and then you will make a plan to move out by next year sometime. How old are you? Sometimes mothers just worry, but it helps to talk and get things out into the open!

borntocry on 10/18/2006:
I can't understand why your mother would treat you like this. Perhaps once you do move out she will appreciate you more. I had a very stormy relationship with my parents all the while I lived with them. Things improved when I left for university but we still fought all the time when I was back. It was only when I moved out for good that our relationship really got better. Now my parents adore me and it almost seems like there is nothing I can say or do to upset them. When I visit them, they welcome me like royalty!

I have also noticed a few small spots since I went off the pill a couple of months ago. When I originally went on the pill, I had terrible acne. My face was covered with fountains of pus - literally. I had one of those faces which people cringe to look at. It was so horrible. I felt like a leper. My doctor suggested that I go on the pill and that was like a miracle for me. I actually started getting compliments on what clear skin I had! I used to laugh and roll my eyes because I still couldn't imagine anyone making that comment sincerely. Of course, you aren't in such a bad way so you needn't go to such drastic measures. The only thing which ever really worked for me before the pill was this skincare product by Clinique. It doesn't work very well on the cystic acne I used to have but it's great for small spots and blemishes. I introduced my husband to it and he thinks it's great too.

I know what you mean about going for the higher end of the calories! I do that also lol. Sorry that your mom holds herself away from everyone. It is very difficult to love anyone who thinks they don't need anyone to love them. Eventually one just gives up on them and moves on without them. :(

You are doing great with your eating by staying in your calorie range! YAY!

Sorry things are like that with your mom. That has to be tough. I came from a situation like BTC, only it was my father who made me feel like he didn't really like me. After I moved out, it was a totally different situation and now I am extremely close to both my parents. It's weird!

You are doing great staying within your calorie range! Good for you!! You know you can do this!

I lived with my parents once during my adult life and I know what you are going through. My only advice is to be patient and when you get that full time permanent job.....MOVE....even if you have to eat only romen nooddles for a year!!! I'm joking but I do know how hard it is for adult children to live at home. My sister is a music teacher so I've heard her say some of what you are saying. There are jobs out there....are you sure you want to stay where you are? I know a big move is scary but I know there are openings all over the US. I'm just rambling cause I don't know your exact situation. All I can say is good luck and just keep on keeping on!! *smiles*
