PMP STUDY GUIDE: copy & paste daily until end of November, possibly making changes also.
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
i have brown hair and most cheaper but well-known dyes work just fine on my hair. i do it at home, just started like half a year ago with the dying process, because i have a few grays and i want to be good at dying it at home bc i will save tons of money this way...especially when i really need to dye my hair with more grays...i'm just getting used to dying it now...
awhile back, 2-3 years ago, i was experimenting and getting all kinds of highlights and nice things done to my short brown hair. it all looked good, but needs too much upkeep for me. i don't really enjoy having to be high-maintenance.
and now that i'm unemployed, it'd make no sense to get an ombre or anything...and i'm not skilled enough to do it at home! plus my hair is too short for that...it's not even down to my shoulders yet!
pumpkin pie, kombucha 450
12:20 rest of the pie listed above, wrap 140 with 2 pcs chicken bacon 70. 210, drink 220

or stir fry it with veggies, without totally frying it...if that makes sense.
i usually have it as a quick protein with whatever i'm eating, just even heat it in microwave a minute!
Good Morning Everyone. I have a full, OPEN, day ahead :)
10am-11am Late morning snacking/breakfast: thsese little gummy straw things 150, a "Greens" choc coated protein bar (higher sugar, but does have many vitamins and nutrition, but not a light bar by any means) 300, kombucha 50...500

will eat better tomorrow, late snack is two white chocolate pb cups. 250
1950 total today.
Most of the day, in intermittent pieces - meaning between other activities to try to stay motivated and with a focus on studying, i'll be studying the PM. My goal is now to finish understanding the formulas...and move into the "Cheat Sheet" section as it's called on the PM app.
I have signed up for the PM test, in the afternoon, around 3:15pm, Monday, November 30th. I wanted a morning session, but it was taken. The slots seem to fill up very quickly. I will have to be careful if i need to register again, bc i believe the slots will be even tougher to get because after December, the format of the test is changing for the long run - and people want to get their test taken before that happens.
I'm loving the "insert horizontal line feature, is this new!?---:
Supermarket - MONDAY or Tuesday?:
OIL CHANGE- TODAY - DONE, no wait at all for it to be done!
30 min walk, DONE
very important for my 11 year old car!, fingers crossed for my perfectly great car! (Pontiac Vibe, only car that ever lasted this long for me!)
walk while it's being done.
and it's only 11:30am and already 60F+ degrees...would be perfect to get out of here and take a walk while getting the oil change done, pick up the poke bowl that i have a coupon for...seems my plan...
Lunch Plan for Today: DONE!
...but i also have a coupon, again, for a poke bowl so i will use it, $5 off $10 or more. that's a decent deal. going to use that, today, probably later in the day, for early dinner.
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
I don't envy you for having to take this test.
I did not have a chance to reply to yesterday's entry before you posted here, and I wanted to say how much I AGREE with you about disliking pizza as a meal. If there is not green salad or, say, a raw vegetable tray, then I tend to go completely overboard on the pizza. For me, pizza in itself is not a complete meal.
I believe I will be faced with a similar situation next week at my brother's house, unfortunately.
And then to have cake on top of that - oof! The vegetables help balance the fat and carbs of the pizza, making the cake more ... tolerable. Yes, this is me saying that, and I *love* cake.
yes, errands can knock out studying. i was planning on being productive for the afternoon, but i was not. i'm not sure why....i have tomorrow to also improve this...someone called also, i spoke to her.
but i can do better. yes, errands can either help or hurt when needing to study. totally. they were supposed to help, but didn't as much as they could have....talk soon....your trip can be good for you...just be safe and don't take mask chances.
also, will write you back letter on the questions / concerns above, mostly in agreement with you on all you write about, above.
i am unsure still if i will...ahem...you know...undecided at the moment.
before the test, you have to take your camera / laptop, and show the room, as well.
was thinking to put things up around my laptop screen, but unsure if i should yet...will just study and make up my mind later...
basically, if you pass the test, it "proves" you have an ability to think constructively like a project manager about what is important in the organization of a project, as well as doing certain mathematical formulas to work out budgetary / cost / savings (etc) questions.
it is just a test that is an incentive for people who want a PM job to prove they have that aptitude.
some companies that need PM's do know of the test, and they feel the test is like a "certificate" or even compare it to a degree...like a "degree in project management" showing that the person who passed the test is reasonably knowledgable in being able to manage a project, that's all.
it simply shows a person is prepared to be a project manager, except, i am sure some people who take the test may be lousy project managers! haha, but for the most part, if you can pass the test, most it can also give you an incentive for a raise from your company or better job opportunities. it's just another credit to your name.
had alarm set for 7:50am, but turned it off and slept until 9:30am. seems it was what i needed...
10am sweet breakfast: dried fruit/flavored oats 170, almond milk 30, raisins 150, coffee 50...400.
snacks during upper body workout that i almost skipped : kombucha 50, reg gummy bears sour 150
lunch - prob around 1pm 1:20 - rest of sauteed pumpkin 100, chicken 200, wrap 150. 450. Pepperidge crackers 150
50cal very dark chocolate
Pizza too much 800, cake large piece with icing 450? Non alcoholic beer 50 (worst meal i've had in a LONG time).
2450-2500 ah well....
not too satisfied with this bday meal and I feel fat and gross too.
It's really hard for me to eat meals like pizza and cake because the large slice of pizza is hard for me to not eat the whole thing of...and it's just not a satisfying meal and high in calories. it's taken me a long time to lose weight and it's not "fun" to go over calories bc of meals like this. didn't know it would be pizza till i was told it would be pizza. i actually asked for a salad that maybe we could eat with it...and parents said no - that we were just having pizza. i could have brought veggies...but, whatever.

I am waking up to study for one hour, approx 10:30-11:30, after studying the formulas a couple more times, the next part of the app i'm studying is called "CHEAT SHEET" and it's a smaller, more compact section, easier to study...
followed by a snack and upper body weights from 11:30-12:30ish until 1:20ish- NOT SKIPPING bc my strength is already not great after not always following thru during covid.
followed by lunch, 12:30/1pmish 1:30ish...
Shower.
Study from around 2-2:45
leave to go to family for my baby nephew's 2nd bday around 2:45/3pm....i'll be there for the rest of the day till evening....there will be cake :)

the guy i was telling you about...the big guy/army vet...texted to ask if i want a turkey...well, i called my neighbor to see if i could get her one because i do not need one...so i'll be picking it up for nice neighbor that doesn't make a lot $$, and possibly see the guy again for a short hello in the next week, i presume ;)

EVENING EDIT: I LITERALLY WROTE A THANK YOU EMAIL TO THE FIRM FOR THE INTERVIEW AND LITERALLY WENT OVER IT ONCE WITH MY PARENTS AND ONCE AGAIN, AFTER THAT, WITH THE RECRUITER BEFORE SENDING IT.
I SWEAR I FEEL LIKE I AM BACK IN SCHOOL...AND NERVOUS HOW TO DO WELL ON A JOB WHEN I'M GETTING ALL THIS EXTRA HELP AT HOME!? WHOA!
I HAVE A RECRUITER THAT'S MORE NIT-PICKY THAN MY OWN MOTHER RIGHT NOW! lol - she's obviously a good recruiter who is doing more work than anyone i've ever met to help me.

10:30am I had my pre-interview chat with a really helpful recruiter, that has recruited me for an interview with Weitz & Luxenberg for asbestos cases thru companies that go bankrupt (asbestos companies) and they are forced to set aside funds for compensation to victims of injury (cancer, other lung diseases) due to asbestos fiber inhalation due to working with the substance. she helped me work on my answers, after i already worked on them, and she had some tips for me. that was at 10:30-10:50am.
11:30-11:50 / noon - gonna go on my stepper for some cardio....while watching tv...clear my head.
2:30pm now i have the interview later at 2:30pm with a lawyer and paralegal manager at the firm (it's located in NYC). they are hiring for a "temp" no strings attached position (just easier for them to do it that way, contract wise, especially during covid). the firm also does training - another plus - to get paid while learning the job...although i'm sure i will be pushed to learn fast...it could be a decent opportunity for me...hopefully i could keep up?!
4:30pm - writing a thank you email...need to actually send it to recruiter and she said she will review before i send it out to the firm as i don't have the interviewer's email......this recruiter is like "my mom."
7:30PM...Having trouble sitting still, doing my laundry now for the whole week, except the guinea pig stuff...

I have no plans on taking any day trips, a friend invited me to go hiking but the date is not planned yet, and i cannot see myself really taking any time away from my local area and parents on Long Island except for my volunteering and family gatherings. I feel slightly overwhelmed, but in a good way, knowing that my job situation is constantly in flux and i have a test to study for...which is going, but i'm having a hard time remembering everything...it's a lot and i'm sort of forgetting what i learned earlier this summer.
ok, too much thinking out loud. My point is that i need to use my time right and i cannot see myself going on a trip upstate for a whole day with friend / old coworker beecause it's going to drain me and i don't have time to be drained.
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
people that take the PM test are business owners, engineers, project managers, wannabe project managers, trades people, students...mixed bag...people who want to be executives (it's not industry based, only related to the overall idea of project management but not in a specific area of project management expertise (like not electrical pm, just PM)
the PM i'm not too crazy about...and there's a math part that is tricky where they give too many extras in the wordy question that aren't even supposed to be used in the formula...
but civil service i wouldn't be as worried about...just nervous, but not worried...
but, it's coming no matter what...the PM, that is.
ha.
i don't get emails that you check and leave comments, but i come around all the time...and you have me now checking to see if i get another comment. hahaha...
take care and be safe and be healthy. till tomorrow, jacky! xo
If you feel so, you need to dedicate a much time as possible to studying for your upcoming test. I have a friend who is studying for the MCAT, and her days are work and study, repeat. That's it.
dad is stressed and has a HUGE pimple - he gets them when stressed, i feel bad for his stress (he's worried as he should be on many fronts in general about family...i don't need to ask him to get the idea of his stress).
yeah, i do feel i could have dedicated more time to studying...you are totally right.
Happy Friday :)
i am sorry i will be commenting short / less the next couple days as my schedule is quite busy with things right now...
Good Morning!
Breakfast: banana 120, oats sweetened flavor with blueberry/cranberry with almond milk 200, some kombucha 30. 350.
snacks bar bread coffee 250
2pm lunch: 6pc nuggets 300, mcdonalds small fries 300, few veggies from my fridge.diet coke
5pm peach gummies 100, and the oatmeal that i didn't finish this morning from the fridge...lollipop big 100
extra time on phone with french friend so will just study now my notes for the PMI test (project management institute - PMP test). Proj Management Professional test.
8:30pm dinner at home after errands: roasted veggies leftovers 150-200, some of my own baked chicken 250. 450, tops. other half of yesterday's beer (i put the cap back on) 100 (more of a tropical beer, sort of..has a nice scent to it)
1950...

10am-1pm Today i'm volunteering from 10-1. Was supposed to be 10-2 but I have my personal limit for today and that's to 1pm. The reason is bc i have a phone call later with my french friend and i need to keep myself studying, even if only a little bit each day, for the PM test. When i volunteer for 4 hours, i tend to get VERY tired after...so i'm working on preventing it...3 hours is ENOUGH. it's very close, too...the drive is much less than a half hour and the parking should be easy too. there's a lot. DONE.
I've scheduled, after paying a HEFTY $544 that I cursed continuously while using the complicated website to sign up and then use my credit card to pay for such a large chunk of money for a test, the PM test for November 30th. I can re-take the test up to 2 more times in December if i do not pass. The price for the test will be lowered to $400 if i have to take it again after the first time. i know, it's A TON OF MONEY. totally. crazy!
I like the date i chose because it's after the Thanksgiving week/weekend and i feel it will be a quiet, good time. It's a monday, so if i had to work, i'd have to NOT work that day LOL. But it's close to the Thanksgiving days off leading into the monday i have the test, so, it'd be easy to take the day off if i were working (i doubt i'll be working by then).
____________________________________________________
Glad i got my strength workouts in yesterday as well as got some chicken cooked. so i have healthier eats for the rest of the week....no exercise planned, aside from volunteering, no cardio.
_____________________________________________________
3pm-4pmish: till 5pm So, later i do have a phone call, the weekly call, with my French friend. she grew up in UK and US, so we only speak English. I don't speak any French! was a nice call, DONE!
5-7:30pm I'll also be looking over my PM notes...done for now...not enough though, DONE
Around 7:30-8:15pm i'll be doing these couple errands...because that's when the sellers are home: additionally, i decided to buy a couple more candles even though i should be saving my money...and will be picking them up from two different sellers that happen to live on the same exact block, but in different neighborhoods! how cool is that....i mean they live on the same street, and it's a long one, so they are in different neighborhoods! (really i shouldn't do this today but i'm going to keep it in the loop) went smoothly.. DONE
5:30pm-6:30pmish 8:30pm until i finish researching around 10-15 items I have a lot of things to review for an asbestos job...the recruiter has me answering a lot of questions, must be done today...Tomorrow, I'm occupied throughout the day....I have a phone convo early with a recruiter for the asbestos paralegal job...and later i have the interview for the job. It's a "temp to perm" job which sounds quite...HORRIBLE...but maybe if i could get the job, i could hold onto it ....but i'll have to see if it includes health insurance, it actually might...if it's a big firm....IN PROGRESS
After i get back home tonight after errands: finishing reviewing the paralegal job questinos if i didn't finish already OR write out the last page of notes for the formulas for PM that i didn't already do...
___________________________________________________
As you all know, I have finished my paralegal classes for now.- the actual ending of the online class is dec.5 but i got the work done ahead of schedule...- ..and plan to not take any more classes till maybe Mid-January OR possibly the next session in March...i'm not sure i want to do any more studying during the wintertime - and if i'm working, it's going to complicate things with exercising also and being able to balance it all....i AM SOOOO AGAINST studying for the online classes that i may even not take any classes for two whole sessions (4 months) and maybe follow up in the Spring...i paid in advance for two shorter classes...i can always get the money back...or just put the classes off till i have time. i am certainly happy not to have any online classes right now.....
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
yes, i've been volunteering in my spare time...it's usually physical labor and feels good...and a form of exercise. :) thanks for your words.
you can google the PMI project managemnt organizaiton. it's internationally known.
it's good. and good exercise off the couch and moving / lifting...good stuff...THANK YOU.
9:30 bfast gummies w sugar 210, coffee 40...250 small amount pb 50
hour walk....and decided on junk after..lol
had short therapist call around noon - yes, during the end of my walk - it's a therapist that only calls monthly, so i tend to just pick it up if i can...it's not scheduled...she just randomly calls each month...it's a union perk i have going on which could end if i don't get a job?!
12:30 low sugar after a long walk...felt shaky, not good - - not good eats - bigger snacky lunch: rice krispie treat 100, gummies 300 oopsie, banana 120. ..approx 520...pb 80
3:30 lunch: wrap 150, with eggplant spread, not great, 100, and an egg 100, and goldfish crackers 150. 500
4pm komucha 50
6pm a whole raw green pepper 50, leftover chicken soup from mom 200, 100, 150. 450.
during workout upper bod and lower bod 2 chocolates 60, later half a beer 100
2100, good, considering this morning....
____________________________________________________________
will walk to supermarket for a price fix again...didn't receive yogurt sale price...i am owed at least $3....this will be morning exercise..turns out the sale was for SIGGIS and I bought the yogurt next to it, SKYR!!!! i totally messed up and made a mistake on which was one SALE UGH! thank gosh it was only 3 yogurts that i screwed up on! lesson learned - double check before choosing a yogurt (or anything) if it's on sale!
___________________________________________________
Then later, I had a random email for an interview today for a paralegal job that is located on Long Island in a town i wouldn't mind, at all!, driving to!, had the interview at 2pm (video interview online) ....very prelim interview, i'm not sure if it will conspire to anything, we'll see...it's not the final interview and they prefer spanish speaking or russian speaking.
OH, i have another interview scheduled for THURSDAY including a pre-interview session that i also have earlier Thursday with the recruiter...for an Asbestos paralegal job which sounds...good! it kinda mixes my previous job in terms of construction...with what i am studying recently, paralegal!? lol...well, the only thing bad is the job is called "temp to perm"...can anyone offer any insight?
____________________________________________________
i'm studying PM....SIGNED UP FOR THE OVER $554 TEST TO TAKE IT ON NOVEMBER 30TH, A MONDAY, AROUND 3PM ONLINE. I HAVE 3 CHANCES TO PASS...WE'LL SEE HOW I DO ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. IT'S A VERY HARD TEST, MANY ENGINEERS TAKE IT. WE'LL SEE HOW I DO. i cursed throughout the registration as it's so much money to pay for a single exam. it's just horrible! it must be taken before January, beause the test will also change then. so, i have 2 more attempts that i can schedule in December...hopefully i will not have to take it 3x, but, i might. and i may not pass it. if i don't pass, i will try very hard to forget that i lost $1500+ on a test i don't pass (it could happen to me, for sure, i'm not kidding here.) the test is 270 minutes long. let's just throw up now!?
__________________________________________________________
will do weights in PM.....after a phone chat with a friend...but she didn't pick up so i might be doing weights earlier, not sure.
will cook chicken breasts later - they are defrosting - TOMORROW morning.TONIGHT! DONE! when my sister called, as i spoke to my mom too, i put them on...with mom's assistance over the phone LOL.
might need to freeze some food i bought the other day - cooked veggies...will organize...or might just not eat all of this other eggplant spread i bought, they sometimes do not make it very well and it's overly salty.
I'm sure you'll exercise it off.
At 68 I'll be in the about the 4th group to get vaccinated over here.
yeah, this vacc thing is gonna be so messy.
slept in, felt really good bc the other nights i was waking up in the middle of the night, so this was a great long sleep!
9:45am Breakfast was a treat from supermarket yesterday: mini juniors cheesecake single serving 350 cal. welll, it was just OK! i can prob make a better one. but it was good, do not take me wrong. and some kombucha 50.

I should do some cardio before I have to leave to go visit my parents today. 30 min stepper. DONE
we are having chicken soup i think for dinner, made by my mom, for her birthday...ahhh, it's her 67th bday celebration today so i need to organize my gift and card.
I'm also stopping by a close-by down to pick up a candle i liked that was being sold on facebook...it's over $20 in the store, i was able to bargain down to $12 for the new, large candle. it's sort of a waste of my money to buy candles, but, i like them...hopefully i get a job soon....
to be in east rockaway to pick up candle at 2:45, i should prob leave my apt at 1:45ish...

Dear Admissions Department for xx Program:
My objective in writing this letter is to convey to you that xx will be an asset to your school’s graduate program. I had the opportunity to work with xx during the Spring and Summer of 2019, as well as in the Winter of 2020, on a very large-scale xxxx project. xx assisted both myself and other members of our project management team during his time on board with us.
As part of our team, xx displayed a strong level of professionalism and daily composure. He was always prompt for his early 7:30am start time. Moreover, xx demonstrated excellent time management abilities, finishing assignments in the time allotted. I felt that I could trust that xx would always approach his work with efficiency.
It was simple for me to communicate and work with xx because he was a good listener. xx was receptive to receiving feedback from myself and others. The work that xx performed was very detail-oriented and required his full attention. Xx was assigned to fast-forward the entering of a large amount of data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and that responsibility required someone who could enter data with accuracy and not a jumble of significant mistakes! I could regularly count on xx to get it done in addition to its being done with accuracy.
I have no doubt in my mind that xx will continue to display the skills that are needed to be successful in your academic arena as well as beyond. I know xx will excel in the xx Program as well as in the workforce once he completes his degree.
The letter i wrote for a kid that is applying to grad schools...
it took me 2 hours to finalize. i also had to change the heading 5 times, to direct it to 5 different schools....and i had to upload it onto these links online that he sent me for the schools - BOY have times changed since 20yrs ago when i was in college! lots of work to do for these kids...even i had to do more work....but it's easy to write these letters these days with the theasaurus and google at your fingertips to help!
but no doubt, as you read that letter, it came out of my mouth and mind....the details and writing are all mine. but to get the skills/launguage right, i used communication skills and a good search system reallly helped me out!
it's not like i'm actively writing every day or writing letters of rec or even REALLY involved in academics beyond some online classes that you all know i took during the Spring, summer and fall - after not being in actual school for over 10 around 15 years. so i still have it in me to do good work, even if i'm sorta slow at it.
it's so depressing that i do not have a job, but as you can see...I AM CAPABLE.
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
Happy birthday to your mom.
Really good letter of recommendation. I mean, outstanding!
I think i wrote a dam** good letter, don't you!?!?!?!

I've decided when i'm done exercising, i'm going out to supermarket for a very limited amount of veggies (mostly for the pigs as i have lots of cooked ones and some seltzers for myself...maybe...gotta do the letter of rec after the supermarket no matter what though!

hey all. i'm home probably all day. still bad cramps but no TOM. ugh PMS!
anyways, i'm trying to study more of the PM. yesterday, i didn't do as much studying as i could have done. so i'm doing a bit more today. shouldn't be hard at all to fit that in....not getting far enough, but i keep reviewing my notes....def need to do more....thinking to write out the last page of formulas notes, seems it will take 3 pages to write them out, and i've done 2 pages so far....based on how much is left, it seems it's only a page or less to go...if i do that, i will not need to keep thinking i need to look at the app to study the formulas and just stick to my notes for the next few days...should keep me somewhat busy. and i also need to think about reviewing another page in my textbook (just one page, a chart) of processes of Project management....
laundry is done so that's great...yesterday did all...DONE

friend/neighbor brought his two twins that are 7yrs old to play with my guinea pigs for like a half hour this AM...maybe it was slightly over 30min...that was nice, DONE
I want to get back into my weights today - yes, doing upper body and lower body exercises (lower body are body weight only exercises, mostly types of squats). in progress, started around 2:30pm......
and i have an assortment of food, especially veggies, so that's great too...not enough raw ones though...maybe just get a pepper/lettuce?
OH!!!!...and the letter of recommendation! MUST DO THIS TODAY! ..at least i feel up to it, today!!! :)...i will look at 3 old Letters of Rec that i used back in 2003 and take the wording from them / revise iwth my own...that's all...i just realized i have no recent letters of rec for myself...hmm...something to think about / try to get from former coworkers maybe....but i don't think letters of rec are valuable for people already working / older...i think they are more for academics/just out of college.
i couldn't really use much from the old letters written for me bc they were specfic to MUSIC JOBS. yup. so i wrote my own...took approx 2 hours for me to write and fix up...because i also had to make sure i had addressed it correctly to 5 different programs as the student asked me to do.
and possibly just some leg cardio on my indoor bike...tonight....?....def not doing before the letter of rec though...
Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!
they saw how much the pigs poop bc they were with them for a long time and i also showed them how much they poop overnight (saved it up for them - so when they came they could look into the cage before i cleaned it)...and because of those reasons i doubt they will get guinea pigs - they are a lot of work / laundry - these pets. and they have a crowded apt...def not wise for to get guinea pigs! but i don't mind them playing with mine!
