8/28/21 - Saturday - enjoyable sleep-in. 12 hours in my bed, feels comforting.

plans are to study - starting in evening.

maybe cardio rest day/weights rest day? - YES

, cook veggies in slow cooker. - YES :) did it easy - sliced up all veggies, two boullion cubes and some extra spices. will slow cook like a veggie soup.

I did all my laundry, but not the guinea cages yet. may do them tomorrow or Monday.

I admit to sleeping around 1hr-1.5hrs on the couch before lunch. no kiddiing. i'm seriously in the sleep zone lately....i can only think i did lots of cardio yesterday after work and it's my way of resting after...lately the long sleeps are after longer cardio sessions...i could also be due to slightly lower calories at times and then having higher sugar meal; not sure...but there's also a cardio element involved.


10:30-11:45 breakfast: coffee 40, pancake 160, jelly 50, 2 chocs 80, lower sugar gummies 120, 450...

2:45-3:15 snacking: blueberries/raspberries 150; sweet seltzer; later some mint chococlate milanos 3 of them 200...350...

still have leftover chinese broccoli 150 as well as some salad i made; so i guess i'm set veggie wise for a meal later...

7pm 2 leftover veggie/cabbage filled lg dumplings 400, side of plaintain chips 150, yogurt blended with jelly on bottom 150. 

couple more milano cookies. i could do better, but, they are tasty...150 and half a bud light with lime 50.

8/29/21 - Sunday - beach?...if weather stays at 75F partial sunny for where we are planning to go...i didn't mind staying home, friend asked to also for beach instead next week (fine with me) so i cooked yesterday and decided i will relax more today with a supermarket visit as well as cleaning gp cages; maybe exercise; and do more studies today; the goal is to at least finish this week's work for the course so i don't have to do the work on either mon/tues night bc it's due wednesday. (can always get it in earlier on the site, yes).....

also had TOM this month...maybe that's why. or it could just be a bad habit of sleeping extra that isn't helpful (but i'm not caring about that element at all lately and just sleeping as much as i wish bc i do enjoy it).

snacks: pb crackers (similiar to kellogs brand) (pretty decent snack, actually) 200, Later had chocs 110

lunch: 4 leftover tiny bbq potatoes 150; leftover butternut squash 150; 1.5 small turkey meatballs 100. a lg plum fruit later; coffee later 100. 500 tops.

snacks:had the big plum on the way home after exercising 

dinner: leftover veggie salad 100 then did takeout Chinese from a very good takeout place sautéed broccoli excellent taste and fresh 150, 2 humongous veggie steamed dumplings and a piece of dough of another so good 450 or so. Very thick and tasty dumplings excellent veggie filling too. Didn't want lots of protein. 700 and a bud light lime 100

5 min walk before work, not counted bc not enough or planned right.

will try to walk in evening after work back by my apt when it's cooler in the evening tonight as my cardio :)...MAY even walk a little before driving home; since my car is parked under an awning and will be very cool afterwards for a nice ride home even if i get sweaty for walking 20 min (which is a nice mile!)

it got cloudy so I did an extra long walk after work, around 1.75 hours but with stops along the way !!!!

Ah, you beat me to the first post of the day by 8 minutes :-)

I'm wondering if your need for extra sleep is connected with a lower calorie intake at all? TOM is a game-changer, and I can certainly relate to needing extra rest.

Work sounds like it's interesting, working with the boss. A new project? Hope it's not too stressful... Are you like me and can't wait for the weekend? Especially this one -- it seems like it's SOOOO needed...

 8/26/21 - Thursday - upper body in evening; got legs done, very quickly but totally done!, before work.

Dinner: enjoyed another meal of mcdonalds fries (had a bit much of them) 500 tops and 4 nuggets 200 with ketchup; then came home and decided to enjoy a salad with some dressing 150 tops; small amount of kombucha 50. 900.

no cardio at all today; but weights got done tonight. accidentally fell asleep after dinner for two hours on the couch, literally, before strarting weights close to 8pm. lately i'm needing my sleep - may be time to take a few nights of weights. also, it's TOM so i think this is part of my issue right now with my sleeping. just a little lower energy these few days.

How does the syllabus look for Business Law? Manageable? Usual? A lot of reading? A lot of assignments? Light?

Believe it or not; i haven't looked at the assignments...i didn't get that far beyond reading the overall topics of the course. i have no idea yet on the HOMEWORKS / readings. LOL. the day totally changed after sleeping in; adding in the bank stuff; walking; falling asleep....but if i needed the sleep, so be it. work is due wednesdays which is awesome because if i do not finish on the weekend; i still have a little more time :) I will be looking into these things. i'm not really annoyed at all that i didn't set out to do what i planned because getting a great walk in was more important. i was prob outside over 2 hours actually.

that is why i eat them; especially this TOM (time of the month) they have been helpful. they also help eliminate gas in the AM for me at work :) lol

Are you making the waffles and freezing them? I got a cute little single waffle maker from amazon when chaffles were all the style back a few months ago...something keto dieters were using a lot of with eggs and cheese....

these waffles are a buttermilk type of eggo. no, i do not make them at home for work. but i do make my pancakes at home that i eat on days off :)

i plan to switch over soon to something with a LITTLE more protein...found some keto muffin mixes to bake up; too.

8/25/21 Wednesday - Vacation day 7.  - putting down 1.5hrs in the sun. 

10-10:30am Breakfast: banana and coffee 150; buttermilk pancake 160 with apricot jelly 90. 400 :)

Lunch: tbd since breakfast was late; i skipped lunch to snack while walking; got a great walk in mostly in the shade as it's pretty hot here. walked around some areas i have been and some streets i haven't. was fabulous and it was by the bank i went to; so easy and no extra driving today beyond the bank which was only 15 min drive away to where i parked :)

while walking snacks: 2 small baby bananas total 100; with a bottle of zero vitamin water. no cals. 

3:30pm snacks / late meal: raspberries from a fruit stand (were just ok) 100, coffee 50, a lot of keto cookies that i bought to try - not bad; not great - i will finish the small box they are decent. 250 for 5 oreo-type cookies (ingredients were good; newer artificial sugars like allulose/stevia type) 400; maybe some chips too...was butter popcorn the one by Wise. 150

of course, fell asleep around 5pm-6:30pm on the couch instead of studying and after having coffee also!...no worries, if i needed it; i needed it.

6:30 snack/dinner -  pepperide farm cookies shortbread with jelly filling 150; cottage cheese or a yogurt...a layogurt whole milk honey yogurt 25% less sugar 150

some things on the go today; going to a new bank to move some money into a money market as well as savings to take advantage of their short-term incentives for the next 6 months. then i'll prob take the money back out and cash into to my regular bank. was talking to my dad today on other things; and turns out this will be good to take care of today. glad my weights workouts don't need to be done also! DONE! ended up moving money back into a CD at my own bank.

also prob today - for the courses i've been taking; i should be able to be reimbursed by the money left in my account for what i've paid for for the paralegal cert and the advanced certs (dad reminded me of this recently; and it's unexpected reimbursement that i'm really glad about! - makes me want to use more of my own money to study more since i'm being reimbursed for what i spent already; up to 3500 which is what's left in the account; the rest of payments will continue on my own dollar...i'm really glad for this money back though!)  I am so lucky! :)...need to call on an upcoming day off to request the forms...will request in September or on a very quiet day at work if there is one...


walk outside ? - around the area of the bank after i get that done; or at park back by me...1.5 hours in the sun; not all walking; but was outside a long time. DONE!

or bike tonight while watching tv or both? tbd

studying of the new course, organizing the materials; downloading; making folders on my laptop for storing all course materials; starting reading and doing a lot of the first assignment. writing down due dates here for the assignment course weeks so i can keep track, etc. :) let it begin. teacher seems communicative and very organized; a plus.....DIDN'T SO MUCH FOR THE COURSE; BUT I'M ORGANIZED TO BEGIN MY STUDIES NEXT WEEK. GOT VERY HELD UP BC OF THE LAST MINUTE DECISION TO GO TO BANK/PHONE CALLS WITH DAD...BUT I'M GLAD I GOT A NICE WALK IN TODAY.

will be cooking all the squash / veggies i bought on Saturday evening; for lovely sides with the rest of my meals this week/weekend and freeze any extra :) will freeze extra rice from takeout food that is still good..will prep meals for the next two days of this work week...have to at least cut it up/prepare to cook...NOPE, NOT COOKING OR SLICING; BUT FREEZING SOME COOKED MEAT BEFORE IT GOES BAD :) WILL COOK EITHER FRI NIGHT OR ON WEEKEND. THE DAY WENT FAST BECAUSE I GOT UP LATE; FINE BY ME!; DID THE BANK STUFF; WAS WALKING; CAME HOME AND ATE AND FELL ASLEEP...AND BEFORE I KNEW IT, THE DAY WAS OVER.  BEFORE BED; I WILL READ SOME OF THE BOOK I'M READING; ABOVE; UNRELATED TO THE COURSE.

it was fabulous! although it's over 90F or close to that today; i walked mostly in the shade in a nearby community to wear i parked & went to the bank. so didn't need to drive more and walked where i haven't really totally walked before. some of it i had; some areas of the walk i hadn't. was fantastic. :) a nice day off!

It sounds like you had a LOVELY vacation day. Even if you didn't get too started in your classwork, who wants to work on a vacation day? And it sounds like you're fairly organized to move forward in the class, and that's half the battle.

It is VERY hot here too.

  • AM - did legs workout - DONE!
  • PM after meeting - quickly do weights before tomorrow; sleep in tomorrrow - but if really tired, go to bed and do weights tomorrow AM; no biggie, actually....also that means i eat less after the meeting; if i'm not working out/staying up late. rest may be more important at this point. and i have a totally free day off tomorrow to get a workout in.

edit: got the workout in mostly BEFORE THE MEETING! :) just a little after and i'm DONE! glad i'm off tomorrow bc i cannot wait to sleep in! it was a rest day today from cardio; glad it's the only workout i need to do tomorrow <3 and weights are done :)

i took the day off bc i havent' been very active; could use the sleeping in; and knew this week could be a challenge with the union meeting and the course and weekend plans. it's a beach weather today; but; i choose to focus on the course and not play around all day - i don't want to be stuck on the weekend with no extra days to get the work done before it's due midweek; i want this extra time to see what i'm up against as these 7 week courses (i've taken 2) vary in intensity and aren't all the same...

thank you jacky. it took me a very long time to get this far but the past few years have been best with the most variation in diet as well as breaking down the barriers that food is either totally healthy or totally unhealthy. i try to work it all in now :) thank you! you are doing very well too. experience at it makes it come easier (not easy, but def def def...easier!)

How long to union meetings generally last?

Hey, you got your leg workout in before work - good for you!!!!

I checked out 4 books from the library. I've started 2 of them, but I don't know how far I'll get. They are all easy reads, but just not really into the 2 that I've started. Maybe I'll look into starting the other 2 to see if either of THEM peaks my interest...

it's only an hour or so. 6-7pm. i live very close. 10-15 min walk if i'm walking slowly :)

but by the time i'm back home, relaxed, it's 7:30...so may just get ready for bed and start fresh tomorrow on a workout in the AM...we'll see how i feel :)

the meetings are more convenient than me bc i live around there. some people live in different states or counties! that doesn't bode well; but i attend. it is rather simple and usually you learn something.

i'm so glad i got the legs in. def didn't need to walk much; considering i walked an hour yesterday evening.

re the books - don't read a book that you don't like till the end! :) def look into the others. there are a couple books i haven't finished; most i have (but just because i haven't been an avid reader my whole life; so many of the books i chose later on were bestsellers or highly recommended or on things i really like to read about - s0 because i chose from a selection of "good books," most have been easier to finish....

but i have also had a couple already i haven't. actually more than a couple if you count the book on stocks i didn't finish last summer. but i did learn some things. it's just not the right time for me to read the whole thing thru right now. so that stocks for dummies can wait :)

Glad to hear that you got your workout in BEFORE the meeting - what a huge benefit for your time schedule. And I do not blame you one bit for driving to the union meeting. There will be other meetings you can walk to. Yesterday's heat here was just BRUTAL. It was 92F but "felt like 106". And yes, it did! You certainly don't want to be sitting in a meeting, worried that you might stink, sitting in your own sweat - bleah.

YES; You have the idea here exactly. also; yes, i just didn't want to walk and get sweaty - but driving there prob saved me 5 min and that was good too; lol...for once, i got to the meeting over 5 min early :)

hardly anyone showed up to this meeting. it's always a quiet showing in the summer; but this was worse than ever.

8/23 - Monday - Business Law course starts :-D - rainy drive in; left too late, 15 min late to work, will stay 15 min to make it up. will do bike tonight and try to go to bed early; went to bed late last night - stayed up doing weights, Poor planning on my part; but did sleep all weekend and relax allll day Sunday.

Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, cliff choc brownie bar i had at work laying around 250. 400.

1800 tops bed before 9:30pm , walked and hour bit now cooking 

might cook tonight; also might NOT cook. i would be more tempted to cook tonight if i take wednesday off (HIGH PROBABILITY).

WANT TO COOK MY VEGGIES; INSTEAD OF SLOW COOKER, WILL DO STOVETOP SAUTEE...; AND ROASTING OF BRUSSEL SPROUTS...

I will either start it on weekend or this coming Wednesday. it is self-paced but also i will adhere to deadlines; weekly due dates. that is good. it will be over in 7 weeks :) and i hope to learn some things. instructor has already sent an email, yesterday, in advance of the first day - which means she's pretty on top of things and communicates well. seems good; so far...i do not think i'll be doing much studies after work - only weekends/days off...

i think the week can only improve from here :)

Your popcorn microwaving at work reminds me of working in an office........one tempting smell and 2 awful smells...The popcorn smell was always tempting and made other people go looking for it....on the other hand fish and stinky cheese smells were making people close doors or attempt to open windows........

Used to air pop lots of popcorn & spray it with malt vinegar & sprinkle with fake sugar. The microwaveable kind was high in salt & calories, but at least controlled the portion.

Yes I should really make my own but the microwaveable is sooooo convenient - I usually go with the single serve but my dad gave me a few with multiple servings so I brought it to work to use on both myself and whoever wants :) win win !

8/22 - Sunday - home, weather rainy tho not terrible...best to exercise strength today.

will most def skip farm because of a rain storm...rain ended up being the worst last night; and i did drive home in it. very scary; hard to see the road; but we were thinking the rain would just continue to be bad today; so i drove home from parents last night anticipating it even worse today; though it seems it's not that bad, but the rain is continous today; though not so heavy.

10:30-11am slept in, late breakfast Indulgence - kept taking more since I had the whole package of Pepperidge farm cookies with me on the couch - 3 servings of a shortbread with jam filling 400, peach 50, coffee 50.

2:15 kombucha 50; chobani berry blended yogurt 150, prefer fruit on bottom, accidentally bought this, but it was filling 

4:30pm early dinner: leftover bbq and marinated skirt steak 350?, bbq veg not much 100, toasted wrap 100...550, plantain chips, seltzer with small amount caffeine or actually a small coffee ! 150

snacky and carb rich day .. it I started eating late abs it's been in moderation though mostly carbs; so it's working out..

5:45 cookies 150, small mini banana 50.

9:30 while still exercising, upper and lower 150 choc
1750.....

fell asleep after all the sweets around 11:30-1:30...just going to chill today; glad i'm not studying. just relaxing at home.

have lots of laundry to do..cleaning of gp cages and fleeces. DONE!

later i shall cook the veggies i bought yesterday.i bouhgt them after i had dinner iwth my parents and took them back to their house for a few hours while we watched a movie together, it's so sad, called The Butler. I highly recommend it. Read up on it before you watch; so you know what you are headed into. - decided I don't want to cook.

8/21 - Saturday - overcast, no rain.

8am large peach 100

fell asleep somewhat for 1.5 Hours 

almost 10am easy animal crackers 180, coffee 20, yogurt vanilla whipped type not greek 150

11-11:30 gummy vitamins x2 30, ginger gummies 50, couple more gingers 20

around 1-2 was at park walking for an hour of great cardio!;  after stopping to get new windshield wipers. MUCH BETTER now! and prepared for future driving during rain! :) 

 2:30 back home afternoon meal: started off with leftover cooked veggies of my own squash / eggplant and a little leftover thai veggies 150, new plaintain chips i bought that i realize i can measure out on my food scale for calorie accuracy (and therefore i'll keep the home bc i like them instead of bringing to work lol) 170 (or buy another for work, not sure) ...few more of the chips to bring it to 45g of plaintains 70, 2 slices munster cheese 130, peach lg

dinner with folks hot pretzel pieces they had bought from a nearby store that makes really tasty hot pretzels 200 and one small potato, skirt steak bbq and marinated tasted amazing 350?, lg salad with some dressing 200...750...

bank in AM if not going to fire island because i need to take out my matured CD money as it should have done that last year (bad return right now) and didn't even make money this year. it is way below 1%. so i want to cash it and put it in my regular savings, for now...must do between the 20th-28th.

i was able to do the above on my App, didn't need to go to bank and glad I checked my phone this AM after the CD matured :-) was so easy to transfer the money to my checking and close the CD account! I guess if you are switching banks, then you actually need to get a paper check at the bank. 

after bank, walking at Forest Park, a nice park near bank...?

bbq dinner with parents..

get veggies from supermarket and prepare something for the week...thinking zucchini noodles with a light sauce...? maybe tonight go to supermarket near parents before driving home after dinner..

Sounds like the beach might be doable? Sounds like you have a nice day planned regardless of which way it plays out. I would say to probably enjoy being outdoors today, because tomorrow will be rain for you. We're getting ours tonight, maybe :-)

The wake was for one of my current coworker's father. coworker around late 50's and father i think was around late 70s? it was a loving funeral, many family and friends of father came. my work group sat in the back, as the room was pretty full. his father was really liked by many. a popular good man in the neighborhood!

you are right, it was good to go.

pizza could have been less, but you never know. this one wasn't overdone in cheese or dough; but, best to average higher. it may have been a bit less; but it's easy to overdo pizza. def should only have one slice, always. i got a diet coke so i could have something to drink and not be stuck with feeling like i wanted more of something..

yes, glad i got them in ... and then when i went to eat with parents; i was easily filled out due to the really late lunch. was much easier to keep calories down; plus my mom made some really nice grilled red peppers; plus a huge salad. so nice of her to cook healthy for me (and her and my dad)!!!

i was glad i did walk! accidentally fell asleep after lunch and was late to parents by like an hour oops! so i couldn't help with the bbqing as planned...oops.

sister had went to beach with parents earlier, but goes home mostly on weekend nights to be in the city (manhattan) with her toddler and the hubby. they mostly go home on weekends back to city instead of dinner with my parents. but weekdays she visits my parents or goes to beach (since she isn't working since baby) and then goes home and has dinner with my parents. i'll be seeing her later in early september for jewish holidays...though we may celebrate on a different day-weekend day - from the actual calendar day..due to some things my parents need to do and sister with her baby...which is fine by me!
