Donkey on 08/16/2021:
I seem to be at opposite ends - I had trouble getting out of bed this morning and it took me 25 minutes to finally have some inkling of being awake.

I hope you have a GREAT day - and me too (I don't want to be at the opposite end of that) :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
i think it's ok to lay in bed a little to wake up - my alarm is music that goes off and some talk, depending what time it is. it's FM...

maybe you need to go to bed earlier. Mondays are always hard after the usually more relaxing weekend mornings :)

bearcountrygg on 08/16/2021:
I see you are still planning to volunteer at the farm.......you mentioned once that they sell the veggies......are they using volunteers to save money by not having to hire help? I had figured that it was a community farm that either gave to the community and also gave to the volunteers.....but now it's sounding like they are just too cheap to pay workers...I would love to know what their aim is.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
here's the link, first,

https://www.queensfarm.org/about/

it's hard to believe but it's partially owned/ran/operated/paid for by the parks as well as a few organizations together.

it was far better last year; but i also was able to go a ton. so i cannot judge based on going 2x if it was just the 2x i went or that it's rather badly operated this summer with the volunteers.

volunteers should def receive something, i agree...and if volunteers don't chose to take anything, that's a whole other story :)

the food isn't given away, maybe a small amount?

but the farm is expensive to run, it's organic, and you are right that they don't hire much help.

volunteers only help 5 hours overall on tuesdays and 3 hours overall sundays; so they must do the rest of the work themselves. there's hardly anyone working there; very few.

they have very small camps for toddlers/very young kids there; host community events too - to make money and have festivals...

and being that we are 4 seasons in NYC; you can bet there's nothing going on in the dead of winter; tho, they used to hold some cooking classes and other things; along with web-based programs. they are supposed to cater to culture and community....

but whoever they hired this year that i met, i did not really like or think they were as capable as last year's crew. i find them too "free" in their clothing choices and somewhat in one of their attitudes. pictures women who don't wear bras and they were loose tank tops and women who don't shave their legs. i guess it's fine it's def like a total opposite of last year. plus, one of them didn't have a very friendly attitude. the other just wasn't as knowledgable. they just weren't as good in any aspect.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
maybe the crew is better now; towards the end of the summer & used to working there...the crew that works with the volunteers may change often each year bc it's seasonal work, not full year work.

Accounting Final Exam: PASSED!!!! I took the whole two hours, passed it! it was semi-difficult. there were some repeat questions from previous tests, so i was going thru my printed out tests, finding answers, i also used my notebook a little bit to look up some formulas for other questions. there were some easy questions, as well as a few i waited to answer at the end; and a small 3-4 that i absolutely guessed on, selecting anything but not leaving them blank :)

dye my roots soon; mostly not gray, but i like to dye them and starting to get into the habit of taking care of it as i do not like to see the grays; and would like to be confident in home-dying always, like Donkey does (and i think Happy...). - DONE

 around 1950, great day!!!

  • Wake up somewhat early to do weights - upper only. - in progress :)...
  • HOPEFULLY ...pick up rx before beach / possibly on the way to the beach...as i took a nap yesterday and didn't have time to get the rx before the pharmacy closed, bc it's not a big-box chain that i get it at...and i ran out of it since yesterday - prob the worst i've done with keeping up with it ever!
  • beach with christine..she's coming here around 11-11:30 and we'll drive out there...going to a beach location that i've only been to like 1-2 times so it will be a nice change. and we'll prob walk on the beach a little while, in a direction i haven't walked in the past. so this should be nice...
  • organize 5 lunches ...may involve less freezing of food and eating lots of the ratatoillle that i slow-cooked on Satruday with the recent leftover indian rice in my fridge; to mix with turkey meatballs / other meats in my freezer as the protein...just dividing the ratatoille / rice into 5 containers for the week..!
  • also, regarding breakfasts, i bought mini-croissants, so i see something nice and different for breakfast...prob with lox on it at the beach! croissants are quite nice, pretty big for a mini size, and more bready, less oily than typical (after tasting).

I hope you had a good time at the beach!

Love the idea of food prepping for the week. That is a great example of self-care.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/15/2021:
it was fantastic!!! will do food prep monday night!!

Donkey on 08/15/2021:
Actually, as I recall it, it was YOU who inspired me to touch up my roots. Before that, I would just recolor my hair every 8 week or so, letting the gray patch come back before coloring.

horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
i had waited this time, and didn't do the other hair than the roots so now it's a little dark on the roots lol, oops, supposed to do whole hair for 5 min (will do next time i dye)...

...i do think that it is worth it to dye roots bc it does keep you looking vibrant...when in the working world at least...and for our types of hair.

bearcountrygg on 08/16/2021:
I gave up coloring the gray a few years ago...after many occasions of the white stripe along my part and then coloring over and over...I finally gave into it and it turned into a hombre affect for awhile until I could cut off the old black hair and let the gray take over...and now it is totally carefree.....at one point I had a doctor that was from India tell me that if I was a horse with that gray stripe I would be worth a lot of money....I decided to just stop the coloring and go natural.....and never looked back since.

horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
you have a lot of hair; and it's nice and thick; i wouldn't dye it either!

Jacky82020 on 08/16/2021:
LOL, Bear! You are worth a lot, my friend.

horn_of_plenty on 08/16/2021:
horse or not, she's worth a lot ;)

Happy for you that you passed the test...Hope you get a break from school work now for awhile.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/14/2021:
haha, one more course planned starting 8/23. haha! it is business law and should be simpler than this math material...we shall see ;)

it's going to have definite due dates and a definite end. a good way to stay home and occupied during these warmer months and not be dreaming about going on vacation! LOL.

innerpeace on 08/14/2021:
Congratulations on passing your test!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/14/2021:
thank you, it's good that the time/work i put in paid off and i do not have to think about "how i failed." thank gosh. it makes me more satisfied with the time spent on it / payments made for the course. -like it wasn't a total waste and i got at least a little something out of it!

Jacky82020 on 08/14/2021:
Glad you passed! I knew you would.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/14/2021:
thank you jacky! i'm glad i could post that i passed, lol! better than the other way around! :) now just slow cooking a ratatoille dish of veggies; relaxing, and extra relaxing!

Jacky82020 on 08/14/2021:
Way betters especially since aren’t they the guys that wanted you to pay to retake it? Who needs that!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/14/2021:
yes; and i wouldn't have paid again!

Donkey on 08/14/2021:
Yay, you passed!!!! I'm so glad that the class is really OVER. I'm actually more happy for you for that than passing. You stuck with it and got it done. Whether you had passed or failed, it would have been over.

And YES, I thought you would really enjoy having the freedom from any studying tonight, and really for the next couple of weeks until your next class starts.

I too may go to bed early tonight, to save myself from the ice cream in the freezer (from my birthday), especially since I was up so early today.

Donkey on 08/14/2021:
PS I totally agree that it's worth the tradeoff to skip exercise and go to bed early :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 08/15/2021:
the tradeoff was totally (and almost always!) worth it for bed early!!!! i am up doing upper body BEFORE having breakfast...just sipping kombucha for the sweet flavor / push to get the workout done...i was out of bed around 8:30...didn't even have an appetite..just relaxed :)

early bed times can also help with motivation the next day...

How long does the test last?

You should have checked to make them ppl outside weren’t stabbing each other ala Kitty Genovese. Actually read a few books on that. Grossly misrepresented by the NY media & elsewhere. Very interesting books.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
i almost opened my window to tell them to stop / shout to stop - but i was too tired and figured if no other neighbor yelled for them to stop, that i shouldn't be that neighbor! hahaha

i'll have to look up the news story you are talking about!

exam is 50 questions, up to 2 hours i believe. could be shorter. i usually take the full time, but depends on how hard this exam is. i'm not fully prepared, but will not prepare any more than i already have.

Donkey on 08/13/2021:
Good luck on your exam! You know, once the stress of Accounting is done looming over your head, you may find it much easier to work on your sleep patterns. Yes, even with another class, I think that you will enjoy Business Law better, and will enjoy the intellectual stimulation of THAT class, rather than the burden that accounting has been.

I think working on sleep is a great project/goal :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
I totally think this is 101% accurate! haha!

i was charged an extra month for the course starting yesterday...if i pass the test, i'll let it go. if i fail, i'll ask to be refunded for the month lol.

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
Famous case, HoP

From Wikipedia Murder of Kitty Genovese From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search Murder of Kitty Genovese Date March 13, 1964 Location Kew Gardens, Queens, New York City, US Type Homicide Burial March 16, 1964 Lakeview Cemetery New Canaan, Connecticut, US[1] Convicted Winston Moseley Trial June 8–11, 1964 Verdict Guilty Convictions Murder Sentence Death (commuted to life imprisonment) In the early hours of March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese, a 28-year-old bartender was stabbed outside the apartment building where she lived, in the Kew Gardens neighborhood of Queens in New York City.[2][3][4] Two weeks after the murder, The New York Times published an article claiming that 38 witnesses saw or heard the attack, and that none of them called the police or came to her aid.[5]

The incident prompted inquiries into what became known as the bystander effect or "Genovese syndrome",[6] and the murder became a staple of U.S. psychology textbooks for the next four decades. However, researchers have since uncovered major inaccuracies in the New York Times article. Police interviews revealed that some witnesses had attempted to call the police.

Reporters at a competing news organization discovered in 1964 that the article was inconsistent with the facts, but they were unwilling at the time to challenge New York Times editor Abe Rosenthal. In 2007, an article in the American Psychologist found "no evidence for the presence of 38 witnesses, or that witnesses observed the murder, or that witnesses remained inactive".[7] In 2016, The New York Times called its own reporting "flawed", stating that the original story "grossly exaggerated the number of witnesses and what they had perceived".[8]

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
will read your message here later when i can concentrate!...thank you for sending the info directly to me :)

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
You’re more than welcome.

I am a big fan of true crime books & know something about the most famous cases. Read other nonfiction too. Just completed several books on Abraham Lincoln. Dang! His wife was even crazier than I thought & in mean ways.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
i read an abe lincoln book too...was very good.

bearcountrygg on 08/13/2021:
Good luck on the test.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
thank you Bear...we shall see the outcome !!!!!!!!!!!!

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
I got all the Lincoln books from the Brooklyn library, digital editions. The Madness of Mary Lincoln by Jason Emerson was the best because of all the info new to me.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
I read the book "mrs lincoln's dressmaker..."

it was great, i suggest it, unless you are sick of books about her! :)

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
I read that too. Interesting. Usually those old books don’t dish the dirt much, although I think Mary never talked to the former dressmaker again. It was more the idea of a black woman daring to write about a white lady. Mary took bribes to finance an extravagant wardrobe. She was quite the corrupt little thing. No shame.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
haha..yes, i don't remember the book too much....but i remember she was wacky.

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
Yep, she took something like 75 trunks of stuff from the White House when she left. Not just clothing & personal possessions, but things that should have stayed. No one fought her on it out of sympathy & their love of Abe.

She yelled and screamed at everyone & Abe slipped merchants and servants extra money to put up with her. She threw things at Abe & broke his nose once. The dressmaker was smart and played it well & made a fortune off Mary. Her closest companion for 4 years. The dress fittings took hours every day. Constantly new gowns.

Snacks: finding a monster energy drink / place that sells it on the way home...and enjoying it on part of the way home...nowhere to stop / park on the way home...better just to drive so that's what i did...and told myself it's not worth stopping (and wasting time that i don't really have) at a suprermarket either for any fruit/special milks to add to coffee at home (so didn't)....

3pm arrived home (still about a 2hr drive due to some holdups on the road, took the free bridge as usual too) - peach at home just ripe and nice 100, iced coffee with almond milk 50. cranberry muesli bar 100..HAPPY TO BE HOME!

4:30 more somewhat moderated indulgence while reviewing notes...dried jackfruit 100, chocolates 100. 200...def sleepy, but glad i had a coffee once getting home...it's helping me stay awake...

6:45 snack couple small clementines during workout

7:30pm Dinner: I have a bit of leftovers in the fridge...i have enough :)...toasted wrap with 2 slices munster cheese 300, chips 150, partial egg, mostly the white 50.

2200, tops.

....no studying happened last night; ended up i hung out with ex female coworker awhile after we had dinner and i notarized her paper....hard to push her out; didn't want to push her out either; we were chatting a lot, she enjoyed holding the guinea pigs a lot haha...no problem with all that :).

late to work today by 15min...sooo didn't want to get up...and didn't for awhile. need to reset my alarms to a bit earlier...they are going off too late in the AM... will be leaving at 1pm after lunch...and see how the payment for today goes...will need to speak with my boss later.

study - partial done...,didn't finish reviewing of all 5 previous tests...sleep is more important. i did this class more for myself than anything. it would be nice to pass. we'll see...

lift weights and lower DONE

, then do a little cardio - stepper for 15 min..while watching TV. cardio outdoors

shower, read a few more notes over...and...did some, not all.

bearcountrygg on 08/12/2021:
The peaches are nice right now.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/12/2021:
it was very good, in fact, ripened well on my counter.

Jacky82020 on 08/12/2021:
We have a stepper. Matt uses it, I never have much. Really should! Great exercise device. Good for you for stepping up!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/12/2021:
the stepper is great, seems to burn a lot of calories. i prefer to be outside tho, in the nicer weather...so that's what i did instead of the stepper, lol. it's good in winter...

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
Have to admit I’m still scared of it after the 10/20 thigh muscle tear. Never fully healed. But doesn’t bother me except on stairs.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
i'm glad it is healing...

def need to be careful of injuries when we get older bc they linger!

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
Healing in SLO MO

The PCP said last week it’s largely because I can’t stop using the muscle given it’s location & laying off would do more overall harm than good.

Matt’s proud of me for getting an injury common to runners and football players and not old bags. LOL. He really knows how to flatter a girl.

horn_of_plenty on 08/13/2021:
i know what you mean...it's so hard to not use the muscle at all...and then you have atrophy...ugh!

that is funny about the type of injury you got.

Jacky82020 on 08/13/2021:
Yep & the sports med docs said you can get a build up of scar tissue if you’re inactive. They said to resume 50% of my activity ASAP and then 100% soon. I did, but avoided steep inclines & the stepper & still do.

horn_of_plenty on 08/11/2021:
yes, it's turned hot as hell...surprisingly that's the same phrase i used earlier today with a coworker, before reading your comment! ha! today 91, tomorrow and next is 95 both days.

Donkey on 08/11/2021:
No breakfast? That's surprising, a little.

Dinner plans sound fun! How nice - a nice change, a nice visit. I wouldn't pressure yourself to study afterwards. Just clean up and bedtime, sounds about right for a Wednesday night.

How many hours of sleep are you getting each night?

horn_of_plenty on 08/11/2021:
i am a person that does well, really!, with 8 hours a night.

too many days under it, with the traveling and everything, knocks me out!

i had breakfast ;) forgot to type it!!

Snacks: almonds...and that's it i think. 100

Lunch: the spinach salad very colorful many veggies and dressing of olive oil/lemon juice mix (i actually had a few straight sips of salad dressing it was quite good with all the lemon juice mixed with olive oil!) 150...i made of course, a chicken bratwurst 150 whole wheat pretzels 150... 450-500 tops.

Snacks: 2 regular oreos. yum 110

Waking up early to make salad in the AM...finished just in time but had to drive with a little more traffic and was just on time..DONE

The salad dressing i made is a vinegar/squeezed lemon juice mix !  i added the salt/pepper on the salad already just so everything is coated with those spices as when you pour dressing all the herbs can end up at the bottom of the dressing and not on the salad, lol.

Jacky82020 on 08/10/2021:
Can’t quite remember, but weren’t you recently saying something re taking your weigh below 110? That’d be ok. I’m about your height & was reading 98-132 is ok for us. I was 100-105 in my 20s & 30s. Don’t see that happening again & I really don’t care. It’s nothing I’d strive for. If it evolves without effort fine, but I don’t see it. I like restricting calories & eating & watching tv nights.

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
no, i do not really aspire to go lower than just hovering 110...i will not set any expectations as i will feel the pressure and it i will get stressed out about it.

i'd like to go lower, but i cannot force it ..if you know what i mean.

i once lost my period for over a year losing weight too quickly while in college. i think i dropped again to just under 110 but lost the weight fast and went on a low fat diet to do it...all those things severely affected me then. probably lost calcium and everything those years (i was around 20-22 when that happened)

i think i could still look healthier at a leaner weight but it's really as an adult my lowest overall is probably 110, not lower.

i was 103 as a teen, but, that's my junior year of high school!

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
i started over eating after weighing 103, but end of my senior year i was 110...and then my weight continued to go up during the first half of college

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
up to like a high of 135 in 2 years it took to gain 25lbs

bearcountrygg on 08/10/2021:
I'm sure they will enjoy your salad...it sounds delish!!

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
most had it and loved it!

the women ate their own food :( but i offered ;)

i have a lot of extra dressing...will take home to use at home...maybe it will get me to eat more salad, or bring more salad to work!

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
I will eat more salads this week, since i have a lot of veggies at home i can cut up :) thanks. it went over well!

HOP, I’m sure you look fantastic! Trim & fit.

horn_of_plenty on 08/10/2021:
the most important thing really, is for me to keep doing cardio. and try to gain the ability to walk for longer periods as well as keep strength training my legs. i shouldn't force any weightloss as it's sorta the wrong mentality for me right now... :) thanks Jacky and you, too.

Donkey on 08/10/2021:
Did your work peeps enjoy the salad? It sounds delicious!!

Bravo for scheduling your exam. That might be a good day to take off, to study...? On the other hand, why waste a day off on Accounting? Know what I mean?

horn_of_plenty on 08/11/2021:
yes, i said that to myself...it's not worth it to waste that day...which is why i scheduled it for later in the evening. i can even walk before it; if i want.

i'm hoping the test is easier - like the midterm was and the first test - and not harder like the other exams. we'll see!

they enjoyed the salad, most had some :) i served it and brought it to everyone's desk. :)

8/9/21 Monday

Having a very tired day, perhaps the earlier wakeup is what's causing it. also, it's Monday. I plan to make an effort to feel better as the week goes on...potentially want to take off possibly on Friday or next Monday.  Was tired all weekend as well..

Breakfast: kombucha early which was a bad idea as it kinda bloated me, had it while at work studying 50, banana and coffee 150, pb on waffle 200. 400.

Snacks: almonds and also leftover bites of pb waffle 50, 2 oreos 110

Lunch: small amount fried rice 200? cooked spinach 100, 2 turkey meatballs 150? peach 50..500 coffee black after lunch never with almond milk.

later 5:45-6:45 while striking up the nerve to review accounting Snacks: blueberries pint 250, chocolates 100, seltzer with stevia.

8:15pm Dinner: not that great stir fried (by me) tofu dumplings 250, coconut yogurt 150

 1850.

I drove in slightly early to walk 15 min /  review my acccouting notes 15min. everything was quick and not thorough, but better than nothing.

Do a little more walking after work, the weather is good for it - before getting into car to drive home. the car will prob not even be hot bc there's not much sun and i may have even parked in the shade (took a diff spot than usual...and i really shouldn't have...it's a spot these two guys from another company park their van after work bc it's in the shade...but, i like that spot too...? lol i will not take it again, it was wrong...LOL..they love that spot lol)...yes, a nice half hour which was enough! :) DONE!

Tonight: Make a salad for coworkers tomorrow with a mix of olive oil/balsamic on the side -  that they can add.  i'll add some salt to the salad as well as a little pepper also - maybe to the actual salad rather than the dressing.  :) will do it tomorrow AM.

horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
Yes, camera on. I am not sure if there's a break...would be good... ;) i should check that. can keep phone in bathroom lol

horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
they watch you the whole time, yes.

bearcountrygg on 08/09/2021:
Getting in a early morning walk...GOOD!!

horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
It was def GOOD!

Donkey on 08/09/2021:
Looks like a great start to the day!

Just curious, can you schedule your proctor way ahead of time? For example could you schedule for a proctor now, for say August 21st?

horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
yes. in many ways, i want to get this test done...but i also know it's a one shot deal for me. i will be thinking more soon about when to schedule...

it was a good start to today :)

Donkey on 08/09/2021:
^I didn't mean to imply any pressure to schedule. I was actually thinking along the lines of, Could you schedule the test for some time in September... (LOL)

I know the trepidation you feel, and I don't envy you in this. It will come to you, when you're ready to schedule. You'll realize, There's nothing more I can do.

horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
lol, haha...only reason i won't is i'm taking that business law starting soon.

i will try to take the test within 2 weeks or less. if i fail, i will fail...it will be a loss of time spent, yes, but i do have to move on yes...

i agree with you on all points...the more a prolong it, also the more stress it is. but i do have to go thru the actual review chapter that the course provides, which i didn't watch online yet...i think after i watch it, i'll schedule the test.

i may watch it tonight, tho, along with possibly walking and making a salad and going to bed early, i may not even want to look at it.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/09/2021:
also, i pay per month for the course, so putting it off another month means i pay around another $80-100 whatever it is for a subscription for another month...def good to get it done :)

2:30pm lunch cucumber.green pepper salad (remaining veggies in fridge, didn't want the red lettuce), oil/vinegar, salt/pepper 100, heating up a Celeste white pizza in oven 500. i don't think i will buy these anymore bc i find them not as good or tasty as i used to find them (my taste changed), inexpensive blueberry wine 50 not much tastes so strong..maybe bc it's older and was opened already...,

1. 1st activity: upper/lower complete morning strength workout after breakfast, starting around 11am, trying to finish around 12ish-1:30pm-2:30pmish.3pm. (delayed ending of workout because i took my time during, didn't rush and attended to some other tasks including making/eating lunch lol) :-D...DONE! it took very long, but was also a good workout.

1A. I also did a little extra laundry during my workout just to feel better about a few more things that could use a cleaning. I made a mistake this weekend of cleaning only half the guinea pig stuff at once...so i had to wash the other fleece today lol...remind me not to do this again as it's a waste of detergent, money, water! and then threw in a few articles of clothing used from this weekend...DONE!

2A. Important for Afternoon - before going out, etc: Organize my notebook and notes for the exam; write a list of formulas and corresponding page numbers - this is actually DONE!

3. Later - might go for a relaxing walk at a park / call friend , was a 40 min walk, will round up to 45 min for today. DONE!

supermarket, i don't think...DONE!

I do need some cooked veggies, i'm out of any leftovers aside from freezer foods which i usually free as "full meals" for work as it's more of a balance between veg/protein/carb and i don't like to eat those meals at home - only work...

i do have an eggplant that needs cooking but needs other veg with it...unless i bread/roast/fry it!? hmmm...maybe i will....need to find recipe...

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
Totally :) i do eat their food sometimes too; so it's only acceptable to bring things for them, too :)

I'll put dressing on the side for the ones that don't want me to add it / they may want to limit it, etc ;)

Thank you, Bear. xo.

Donkey on 08/08/2021:
Excellent agenda for today!

For eggplant, I don't prepare it with other vegetables. There are 2 ways I prepare it that I love: 1. Slice it up in thicker slices. Place on non-stick cookie sheet or spray it with cooking spray. Place slices on cookie sheet(s), season - I like salt, pepper, oregano & sprinkle with parm cheese. Or "Everything But the Bagel" seasoning. Bake for 30 minutes in the oven 350F. (A glass 9x13 baking dish would work too.) Other ideas: garlic powder, onion powder.

2. Dice into chunks, heat up some olive oil in a frying pan, add eggplant & diced garlic, salt, pepper, other herbs mentioned above. Saute. Eat -- can sprinkle parm or mozzarella cheese or just eat as is.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
I'll save your two recipes...may use one this time or save for future bc they both sound good, particularly the first one if i just want to make the eggplant and eat a lot at a time of it. or maybe i can make this for coworkers???! we'll see...

i may do a breaded-fry recipe...but we'll see bc i only have whole wheat flour at home and may not be interested to buy regular flour just to make this just yet, we'll see... :)

Business Law - Sesson 5 - 8/23/21 thru 10/8/21...excited for learning something new :)

All chapters review & Accounting Final Exam: TBD - must schedule 72 hours in advance and it involves having an "online proctor"

the test is a 1x take only, no 2nd attempts unless you pay to take the entire course again. it's either pass or fail. so have to pass the first time...so may actually not take the test this weekend, we'll see. i'm not going to pay to take the course again. so i'll either pass or fail and leave it be.

there's a random opening for a court job - secretary to judge. it's not in my county or a neighboring county, but in Westchester which is a few counties away. like an hour drive, no traffic. i will apply either on Friday or Saturday, 8/6/21.    I

if you have noticed i'm having more lower cal days compared to what i used to do. i am trying to be more moderate, but not to the point where i'm under pressure and overeat because i'm trying to undereat. i'm not trying to undereat at all. as people get older, many get slimmer just getting used to what they need to live. i'm trying to be the way. sometimes it works, but i'm still a person that would rather feel overly full and satisfied than wanting more...if that makes sense.  i really want the lower weights / approx weight i'm at to stick for a long time. i do not want weight issues later either. i'm really trying to stick with certain habits and continually learn and reinforce others that will help me. additionally, i'm trying to get in cardio where i can, it's one of my biggest challenges.

 8/7/21 Saturday -

9:30am Breakfast: pancake, ran out of the entire mix just under 1/3 cup, so added in some wheat flour to finish off the serving ;) 160, with a lot of tasty apricot jelly 150. and a small coffee 40. 350..also included is a serving of gummy vitamins - i take the elderberry ones that look like a bunch of grapes gummy shape. 350...

1pm lunch - i think leftover thai food from the end of last weekend...leftover bamboo/veggie mix in some sauce 150, leftover fried small spring roll 100, lrg serving  2% greek yogurt to finish the container wityh stevia 200, fiber one lg cookie 120; blueberries will wash the whole ;pint and eat all now or save some for later 250.

fell asleep 1:45-2:30pm...

2:45 caffeine  drink, choc 100

6/6:30 dinner: rest of some cherry tomatoes, negl, some animal crackers 50, some stacy's pita chips 200. 1egg, 1 egg white 100, heating up a frozen cauli crust 300 of a brand i used to by, prob 3-4 years old. still good was air sealed. forgot calories, may put a slice of munster cheese 50 on it..

2050.

Do all Laundry / Clean guinea pig cages- pretty much DONE!

No exercise today, on couch. at least laundry is done...

Do the application for the Judge Secretary job in Westchester; which i do not plan on being actively considered for, but i should update my resume to date (not too much updating needed) and do the application as part of my work to get into the courts...i do want this for my future

Organize my notebook and notes for the exam; write a list of formulas and corresponding page numbers

Set up and request proctor for exam; choose date tbd right now.

Try to do evening weights, but OK to skip until Monday if need be....

No food shopping necessary; tomorrow I'll do extra takeout food for help me for the upcoming week like I did last weekend..sorta promised i'd make a salad for work...ugh...not really in mood to even step into a grocery store today...so i will NOT! i'll prob do it on Monday...pick up all fruits/veggies for the week...i just don't have it in me to venture out today food shopping, at all, no matter how short the shopping trip.

I do think that I may be better off in the NYS courts than in the private union electrical industry. I do think my future will have more of a safety net and security with the courts, almost definitely.  My dad is turning 69. Yes, he'll always have pull even after retirement, but that's a stress on him, too.

Money-wise, working in the courts is better than what I currently make. In the past, i was making more than i woul have in the courts, but this job has changed that scenario and I'm making lower and will not get the automatic raises that come with years when you work in the courts.

Like I said, assuming I am capable / competant to do the court work and not have employment issues, the NYS Courts would be the way to go for me.

The court work is admistrative and you learn as you go.  It is similiar level to paralegal/assistant/secretarial/ lower status, not high legal positions at all; but with muliple opportunities to advance in work level as well as contract pay grades.

where i am now, there is no set contract pay grades. it is what it is - whatever you agree with the company. not so for electricians, but i'm not one of those, i'm an office assistant.

8/8/21 Sunday -

supermarket

cooking veggies.

skipping farm due to feeling quite tired Saturday and knowing i still need to do weights today.

trying to rest / not overdo today because it will be a full week of work again this week :)

(thankfully) beach cancelled due to slightly colder weather with possible rain.....been feeling a bit tired so i do not mind this one bit. was thinking to do farm instead, but, i do not think it's a good idea as i'm feeling quite tired. also, it'd prob be better just to not skip another weights workout...and i had promised coworkers i'd make them a salad, which sounds easy but it's not bc i have to buy the stuff and go out...which isn't hard but i wasn't in the mood. with everything canceled, it will be easier and facilitate me making a salad....i know, it's laughable, but i wasn't feeling up to it originally.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 08/07/2021:
Very interesting to read... I did realize that your calorie counts, for the most part, have been lower, recently. I don't know about you, but I find this easier to do in the warmer, summer months than in the winter. I too hope to maintain my loss as we head on into autumn and winter (and holidays). That seems so far away, considering today feels like 90F outside, but I know this challenge is inevitable.

I am rather surprised that you want to keep this lower weight. I guess I always thought you were quite content at 115. However, logically, your reasoning is sound and logical. Also, as someone who has lost the "last 10 pounds", I am appreciating what a lighter body feels like, and I can relate to feeling more comfortable at a lower number.

I support your decision to get into the court system 100%. I think that will be a good, challenging area for you. People think that police is where all the action is, but I tell you, it's the courts where it *really* happens. I found, when I worked for Child Support Enforcement, that even the most mundane tasks could be very interesting, because the material I was handling was so fascinating. So, for example, not the filing, but what was being filed was the fascinating part. Not the data entry, but the actual data I was inputting -- fascinating.

bearcountrygg on 08/07/2021:
I see you are eating a fiber one cookie......do they bloat you? That brand makes me miserable.I'm the only one I know that reacts like that to that brand.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
as long as it's just the one, i'm ok. maybe gas right after but nothing crazy, nothing annoying at all! those cookies, the soft baked choc chip are so good!

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
HoP, how long would the commute be to Westchester? Think it was an hour train ride from the in-laws into Manhattan

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
driving, in the AM, i think it would be 1.5hrs with traffic. without, it is an hour. coming home, assuming traffic isn't too bad, 1.5 hours also, i think, since i'm not driving thru the city. it's not a great commute, i'm almost thinking not to apply as i know i prob wouldn't be considered?...ah, i'll do it for laughs, i guess.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
If you did well, but someone else got the job, would they possibly offer you another position now or later?

Three hours a day? Yuk! Lousy commute, but people do it & worse

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
my commute right now is the same as what this would be! i know, yuck! one girl i work with, 3hrs each way...6hr commute = no way!

she lives on the jersey shore in Toms River and literally commutes 3 hrs each way to harlem. i couldn't live that kind of lifestyle.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
but this is why i may not apply to the job. as i'm not really going to leave this one, yet, i do not think?

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and they are bound to hire someone closer.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
The way somethings work they already know who will get the job and have to interview as a formality.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
it seems that way for this one.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Used to happen in the big city school district where I worked in California

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
Happens EVERYWHERE! :)

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and, yes, this happened a TON for music teacher positions in the Long Island school districts. I know of many cases of it happening.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Yep, happens everywhere. Ever notice how most successful actors have patents or other family in the business?

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
YES..., like Kate Hudson. she's a huge one. on instagram, she posted her 3yo daughter singing with her, the daughter can def carry a tune...

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and the young female Osborne...

so many, yes...

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Yep. Like Angelina Jolli. Her dad is John Voight. Watched part of old movie last night, Paper Moon (too sappy 4 me) And the star, Ryan O’Neil, I think, costarred with his kid. She was very talented. Probably took acting lessons since she was two. LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
most definitely when she was 2! :) ;)

I love that woman, Angelina Jolie!

Donkey on 08/08/2021:
I was thinking, with everything going on, and being so tired, maybe it would be a good idea to pass on applying for the job right now. Even though it would be just "for kicks", it's still a stressful process to get everything together, do the application, etc. -- stressful and time-consuming.

It might be a better allocation of your energies to just focus on the Accounting test right now.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
yes, i'm going to let it pass thanks for the comment. you've kinda cemented it in that i can just take it off my list.
