...off to see mom and dad....going to give dad a haircut at his house and he'll drive us to the place mom is at for rehab until she can walk much better and bones are healed.

healthy lunch: salad with oil and vinegar 150 tasty!!!, and a chicken drumstick 200 with skin and a little extra chicken , good size of hard type of italian bread yum  200, some chocolates yum 50 and seltzer with stevia 600 tops

snack after visiting mom before errands: bulletproof apple pie (not again!) flavored bar - i always go for more dcadent chocolate / pb flavors. this was only thing available and not great. 200

dinner: leftovers from mom at her place bc we brought lunch so i brought her lunch home for dinner LOL why waste it!? a bigger piece of chicken breast slightly breaded but i took most off 200?, some salad (hardly any), some green beans 50, some mashed potatoes 150...i also had an apple 100 and small bag popcorn 100 total here: 600. good.

of course got into an argument with mom and dad today over really something so stupid maybe write about it later but really don't care to even think about it. they really think everything their way. this will be difficult when they are older and aging.

Later goals (approx 4pm?) when i'm back from Long Island and close to my apt: swing by Vitamin shoppe to pick up some amino drinks with my coupon :), swing by library in same area to pick up my reserved Paris travel guides! (4 in all!)...come back home and do leg workout, maybe also swing by a place where i can buy a leg muscle roller...as i don't have a foam roller and want a longer one that i dont have to use with my hands (right now i have a rod, but you have to work it on your leg by using your arms, i'd rather have a roller that i "roll over")

I hope you have a nice visit with your folks. Is mom home from the hospital?

Do you think your increased hunger is weather-related, emotional, or perhaps getting sick (referencing that odd feeling in your tongue)? Could it be something like that? Maybe it's just cyclical - sometimes we eat more, sometimes we eat less. (??)

mom left hospital but is in rehab...lots of work and time before she goes home due to the pelvic fracture and 7 ribs. the pelvis issue has caused difficulty to walk so she's in a wheelchair except for when a nurse is helping her.

the tongue thing was an irritation i think from a food - the mango rind candy mixed with tamarind that i had three of and the last one i was sucking on, instead of just chewing and swallowing, that irritated my throat. there are def times when i am on an "eating week!"

i'm taking tomorrow off - 3 dr's appts...glad to not be going to work. need a break.

Update about going into the electrrical subway field yesterday: seeing a lot of older men (50s and 60s) in great shape reminded me how office work isn't going to help me become a court officer and how much exercise changes in my routines will be needed to get cardio under control. men in the field are so fit not only from their jobs, but these men also keep their health in check to be able to do their jobs by doing ADDITIONAL cardio after work and weights. there's a reason why they look so fit - and it's not due to genetics on their part. Just in a workday, they are walking well over 5 miles whereas with my commute without added walking, i'm only at 1.5-2 miles for the day. that's why the 2.5 miles days are so important. but it just goes to show how a physical job just puts them in a whole different fitness category compared to office workers trying to get a little exercise into a sedentary day!  Most of the men, many!, in the field (big project) are prob closer to 30's-50's age group and look surpringly better (above avg) compared to the general population that's not in hands-on labor type of jobs.  but it's not only due to a physical job..it's bc their lifestyles are in general more active even on weekends.

AGAIN 4am woke up hungry, so had rest of blueberries, an apple, peanut butter  250.

11am chocolates 120, HUNGRY!  the work is hard and i'm having issues.

Indulgent lunch: roasted eggplant 150?, roasted peppers 100?, seared tuna 200? maybe more, and these wantons filled with shrimp, 5 of them and at least 50 cals each if not a hair more as they were extremely dense type of wantons 350. 800. VERY big lunch, really satisfied now and basically happy. slightly indulgent, but, pleasantly full. 

close to 4pm snack: dark choc lava truffle..says only 50 cals do i believe it? by godiva.

5pm Snack 2: apple 100

6pm chocolate and tea, still at work wanting to finish something :) 150

Dinner: on walk coffee, later a bar total 300

2300, awesome...could have been a bit higher!

7 day avg: approx 2160, decent.

did my 4k walk.

grabbed extra food at lunch, so i have veggies if i want them for the weekend.

wasn't working well today, so, staying at work to finish something bc i want it done sick of this procrastination!!!!!!

Tongue still extremely irritated at the base near my throat started garlgling with salt water last night and will continue that. should heal by Monday i hope!

My my plan is to separate my abs/upper body workouts from leg days.  I am not in love with my home workouts being so long anymore.

Legs workouts are shorter and not as strenuous and will be good to do separate from upper as upper is a much longer program (approx double the amount of workouts as i do for legs) and I’m fed up with how long my home workouts have become, many days i end well after 10pm.  

Breaking upper and lower exercises up, for at least a couple months until end of April, will help me get to bed early so I don’t have to be so tired anymore on days following workouts as it's not helping me feel good at work or get thru the week well anymore.

I'm ready to work on this and how i can make the exercise a better fit with my commute and lifestyle. I'll work on this more.  Lately, i've skipped cardio on weekends at least for the past month. This weekend i'll start adding walking back in as the weather will be better around 50F not  25F like it was the past few days. I'm looking to get into moving more, being more positive and getting on track.

Just today a male coworker who also changed his commute since summer to here with less walking now, has complained he gained 20lbs this winter bc his lifestlye / work commute changed.

It just goes to show that little changes add up either positively or negatively. in his, coworker's case, lack of exercise and wintertime more at home led to 20lbs gain..over the course of the fall/winter.

I'm really happy today is Friday and also that i skipped all leg exercises last night.

I was able to get more sleep and now i am considering breaking up my workouts again ?  the full body workout is starting to be too much on worknights...but then i have to workout many days, i have to think about this!

I agree: a desk job isn't going to do you any favors as far as physical fitness or training. I sometimes wonder if I would be better off working at a big box store, walking around, etc., than sitting at my desk. Thank goodness my FitBit reminds me to get up every hour to walk around. That is the EXACT reason why I upgraded my FitBit, because the old one didn't have that reminder function.

A change in weights routine sounds really good!

yes, soon those nights of sleeping late because "it's workout night" are going to be gone :) i will have to soon (after the trip) consider how i will get myself running :)

until then, workouts will be broken up, except for the weekend ones, though, we'll see i might even break those up!

legs for me can easily be done any time of day, it's an easier set of exercises bc i do NOT push myself to the same stress as i put on my upper body. too many past injuries to exercise my lower body in such a forceful way, so, i can easily see myself even doing legs separate from arms even sometimes on weekends. by doing them separate from arms, all workouts will be shorter and not so "marathon-like" as i do NOT really enjoy them anymore being so long :)

all morning i was in field going thur the work going on with my PM. it was cold and we were on our feet walking easily 1.5 hours...gets me tired....LOL, i'm not used to walking on the job! she had an easier time and i was following her around... 

lunch dessert was chocolates 150 (cold and tired after the morning and totally indulged), fresh veggies 100, and an indulgent half a large wrap 200, turkey 100, avocado 100, sauce 50. 700..need HOT tea now!

CASHEWS 100, THROAT LOZENGE, CLEMENTINE 50

dinner wrap 80, avocado 80, egg 80, iced coffee 50: 300, overflowing cup of blueberries 100 (in more for more balance, not a sugary bar).  back of tongue is very irritated yup!

 some of legs will be skipped due to the walking earlier today, just done for, and i'd rather get to bed relatively early tonight. really don't wanna be sick :)  so, i think this is my best bet - solid upper body and rest :)

Lunch mostly from home, fish 150!!! in some sauce, with tomatoes and peppers 50 fresh not cooked and some wheat crackers 150: 400 tops

microwave "souffle cheesecake" keto style made with cream cheese 2 oz 200 and an egg 70, also some vanilla and stevia. it tasted more like a sweet egg souflee. prob will not make again, but it was tasty, but not so filling. added yogurt on the side 200 and cooked cranberries 50. total here: 520

I'm sorry the cheesecake didn't turn out. That's always so disappointing when I make keto things and it's like, bleh. Especially an eggy taste - no thanks.

I hope you are not getting sick. I had that tickle in my throat on Tuesday. I swabbed my nose with Zicam and woke up the next morning feeling OK. Zinc has helped me not get sick this year, truly.

very back of tongue which basically is in very close relation to my throat causing issues with even when i talk...it's my tongue i think rather than throat and one of the only times i've ever really felt this weird feeling!

it's a probiotic...same effect as like oatmeal, coffee, or a yogurt...it stimatulates your bowels to move.!!!!!!!

sometimes it works very well, but if i eat too much volume of food too late at night, nothing works and i'm bloated the next day.

Lately, i am having hungry days and starting with M&M's isn't the smartest as my morning does get hungrier, lol...must remember this tidbit!

3:30am shredded wheat onyorgum cereal sooo good with almond milk 200. woke up a couple times during night and this last time i had a snack as i had a small appetite.

Lunch: TASTY higher cal leftovers from yesterday's lunch with dad...perfect for a snowy day...rice 200?, sauteed eggplant 150?, fried tofu 200?, and some cherry tomatoes 50. total here: 600 (hopefully not more, a lot of sauce somewhat!)

...fine..it will end up a slightly higher cal, around 2200-2300 day)

snacks: i have a dark chocolate cherry and a drink to carry me over..100 i think. and around 50 cal cashews. feeling nauseous like i wanna leave! LOL...just an hour left :)

5pm - staying an hour or so until 6pm (since i don't have sneakers so the commute home will be simple and without exercise so i have an hour to spare!) to research Paris!!! 70 calories of caramel hershey's kisses; and 3more regular kisses 70...chocolates while i research!

dinner: TBD, thinking yogurt and cranberries...or a bar....we'll see.!!! sorpressa pork sausage 100, egg white 20, saag 150 and a piece cheese 30, toasted wrap so good 80. still hungry, but total here: 380., apple 100

Evening plans: early to bed...cannot seem to get enough sleep lately it's ALL I WANT?!

It snowed, but will warm up and melt easily so i could have walked home tonight the 2.5mi, but i don't have appropriate walking shoes to do the long commute walk..when i get home i do plan on doing the stairs, one time, from my 9th floor up to the 23rd. ...so, 15 flights. it leaves me so winded...the plan is to just do this to raise my heart rate some days of the week ...and try to continue this habit.

Stair climbing is a great option to work in some extra cardio! And it gets my heart rate climbing pretty fast too - way more than just walking would. Have a great day!

yes - it was always a goal to incorporate it since my apt bldg makes it so easy to do ...with the huge stairwell 23 floors total....and there's a (young-er and fitter than most) retired guy who does them most days...his doing them inspired me to really start getting into it...just starting with 15 floors at first :) my floor 9-23 and take the elevator back down ;)

feeling like i may have gained a pound since being back from Florida, but def not worried as also i have been more sedentary on weekends and also at times skipping a  workout during the week...overall, feeling good about weight / calories.

luckily the supermarket was quicker than usual. i was actually with my dad as we went there since the restaurant was closed for a little bit between lunch and after lunch hours! LOL...so i got the errands done fast in the half hour before eating with him :)

She is still on a lot of pain meds and able to move around a little bit but not much. She IS thinking more clearly and sitting up wayyyy better than before - she is going to be fine luckily ..... now just the insurance stuff and dealing with the driver’s insurance of woman they hit her. Weirdly that woman did NOT file an accident report yet !

12:30: leftover wrap, SO GOOD!, from a coworker wrap 150?, lots of chicken deli meat so tasty 150?, some spicy mayo not much tho 100, avocado 100, and a few veggies in it. 500

3:45-4pm snack: iced coffee and entenman's cookie bar total 200, also my amino drink. 

6pm-6:30pm before workout: wrap 80, one piece of the sorpressa salami 20, 1/4 lg avocado 100. 200 :) and smoked salt :) couple clementines 50

during workout Coconut water 150, getting too hungry so peanut butter 100, more coconut water 50

after workout: protein bar really good one by Bulletproof i found at the store. 250

gym or maybe just apt workout, soon....want to get out of apt but debating just working out at home, AGAIN! lol home workouts are soooo convenient.  i've been very sleepy today bc really didn't sleep great this week, or enough for me personally, so, just laying around and got laundry done, called Spectrum to remove cable TV, and signed up for a walk on the airport runway with my friend Jen and her daughter and mom for April mid month before my trip! can't wait!  I think i'm taking off my last work sick day around this time. so it's easier to do this morning walk and since it's also close to my Paris trip!  The other sick day will be the week following this one, but it's booked with a lot of dr appts (yearly physicals and optical).

It's too bad that you can't have a gym membership that charges by the use, rather than a monthly fee, as it seems you are doing more of your workouts at home! I had a similar thought for myself - having a punch-card rather than a membership - for my next step in weight training adventures!!! (lol)

I went to bed prob around 10:30 and up around 5:30...later than expected but a VERY deep sleep last night!  around 7 hours, but i do prefer 8-9 hours.  very tired today after this crazy week since several nights were shorter sleep / interrupted sleep.

Breakfast def wrap and egg...250, COFFEE 50, and i went looking for carbs - small pasty around 100 cal i think. 

snacks: either cashews or a bar

Lunch: corned beef again 200, pepper 50, half bagel 200, indian eggplant 150

snacks: crackers so tired 120, later a clementine, more tea, almonds 150 more

6pm more almonds, tea, granola bar at work 250

dinner: TBD - i want to take some of the indian food home that i didn't even eat yet - creamed spinach (palak)    yogurt and cooked cranberries and prob with the last protein muffin i have at home :) 400

really want to sleep earlier tonight. no plans for extra exercise tonight after work.

went to bed after midnight and slept till around 6:30-6:45. got a decent workout in and cleaned up around the apt too as i was working out. i do enjoy these home workouts in that i usually get some other stuff done as i'm working out that wouldn't be done if i went to the gym.

 

 

 

It's 8am...Gotta leave apt really soon...i was able to sleep in a bit. woke up before alarm though...i guess i have one thing in particular on my mind that i must fix today...maybe discuss later if i am up to writing about it...bit of a nuissance.

 

Progress as of today: -0.5 lbs lost so far, only 1.5 lbs to go!
