  4.75 August Sunshine Hours!

Lookahead Dates - Last TOM - 7/29...

Business Law - Sesson 5 - 8/23/21 thru 10/8/21...excited for learning something new :)

Now: All chapters review & Accounting Final Exam: TBD - must schedule 72 hours in advance and it involves having an "online proctor".  the test is a 1x take only, no 2nd attempts unless you pay to take the entire course again. it's either pass or fail. so have to pass the first time...so may actually not take the test this weekend, we'll see. i'm not going to pay to take the course again. so i'll either pass or fail and leave it be.

8/8/21 Sunday -

10am Breakfast 2 eggo buttermilk waffles 180, coffee 20, 2x apricot jelly 100. 300...

12:20pm-1pm still working out, decided to have 4 chocolates, sweet dark type of diff flavors by Hershey's. 150., 1pm - later i had the remaining 6 sour patch kids or course with a drink - glass of sweetened stevia seltzer 60

2:30pm lunch cucumber.green pepper salad (remaining veggies in fridge, didn't want the red lettuce), oil/vinegar, salt/pepper 100, heating up a Celeste white pizza in oven 500. i don't think i will buy these anymore bc i find them not as good or tasty as i used to find them (my taste changed), inexpensive blueberry wine 50 not much tastes so strong..maybe bc it's older and was opened already...,

5:45 dinner: chicken "bratworst" 150 on a toasted wrap 150 with some eggplant spread, negl. 300...animal crackers 150, may have a light coffee (not have too much bc it has caffeine) 50. 1 choc 50

another choc and i think that was it for today. 50

1750-1800...

1. 1st activity: upper/lower complete morning strength workout after breakfast, starting around 11am, trying to finish around 12ish-1:30pm-2:30pmish.3pm. (delayed ending of workout because i took my time during, didn't rush and attended to some other tasks including making/eating lunch lol) :-D...DONE! it took very long, but was also a good workout.

1A. I also did a little extra laundry during my workout just to feel better about a few more things that could use a cleaning. I made a mistake this weekend of cleaning only half the guinea pig stuff at once...so i had to wash the other fleece today lol...remind me not to do this again as it's a waste of detergent, money, water! and then threw in a few articles of clothing used from this weekend...DONE!

2A. Important for Afternoon - before going out, etc: Organize my notebook and notes for the exam; write a list of formulas and corresponding page numbers - this is actually DONE!

3. Later - might go for a relaxing walk at a park / call friend , was a 40 min walk, will round up to 45 min for today. DONE!

supermarket, i don't think...DONE!

I do need some cooked veggies, i'm out of any leftovers aside from freezer foods which i usually free as "full meals" for work as it's more of a balance between veg/protein/carb and i don't like to eat those meals at home - only work...

i do have an eggplant that needs cooking but needs other veg with it...unless i bread/roast/fry it!? hmmm...maybe i will....need to find recipe...

  • Review the Final Exam prep review on the course site, which i didn't do, possibly take notes..
  • Set up and request proctor for exam; choose date tbd....will do soon, not today.

8/9/21 Monday

..take public trans to just review my acccouting notes??

Tonight: not that i really want to, but make a salad for coworkers tomorrow with a mix of olive oil/balsamic on the side -  that they can add.  i'll add some salt to the salad as well as a little pepper also - maybe to the actual salad rather than the dressing.  :)

8/24 Tuesday - vacation day 8? Volunteer at farm and also study new Business Law?

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 08/08/2021:
Good to get that promised salad for coworkers done.....!1 I'm sure they will enjoy it!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
Totally :) i do eat their food sometimes too; so it's only acceptable to bring things for them, too :)

I'll put dressing on the side for the ones that don't want me to add it / they may want to limit it, etc ;)

Thank you, Bear. xo.

Donkey on 08/08/2021:
Excellent agenda for today!

For eggplant, I don't prepare it with other vegetables. There are 2 ways I prepare it that I love: 1. Slice it up in thicker slices. Place on non-stick cookie sheet or spray it with cooking spray. Place slices on cookie sheet(s), season - I like salt, pepper, oregano & sprinkle with parm cheese. Or "Everything But the Bagel" seasoning. Bake for 30 minutes in the oven 350F. (A glass 9x13 baking dish would work too.) Other ideas: garlic powder, onion powder.

2. Dice into chunks, heat up some olive oil in a frying pan, add eggplant & diced garlic, salt, pepper, other herbs mentioned above. Saute. Eat -- can sprinkle parm or mozzarella cheese or just eat as is.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
I'll save your two recipes...may use one this time or save for future bc they both sound good, particularly the first one if i just want to make the eggplant and eat a lot at a time of it. or maybe i can make this for coworkers???! we'll see...

i may do a breaded-fry recipe...but we'll see bc i only have whole wheat flour at home and may not be interested to buy regular flour just to make this just yet, we'll see... :)

there's a random opening for a court job - secretary to judge. it's not in my county or a neighboring county, but in Westchester which is a few counties away. like an hour drive, no traffic. i will apply either on Friday or Saturday, 8/6/21.    I

if you have noticed i'm having more lower cal days compared to what i used to do. i am trying to be more moderate, but not to the point where i'm under pressure and overeat because i'm trying to undereat. i'm not trying to undereat at all. as people get older, many get slimmer just getting used to what they need to live. i'm trying to be the way. sometimes it works, but i'm still a person that would rather feel overly full and satisfied than wanting more...if that makes sense.  i really want the lower weights / approx weight i'm at to stick for a long time. i do not want weight issues later either. i'm really trying to stick with certain habits and continually learn and reinforce others that will help me. additionally, i'm trying to get in cardio where i can, it's one of my biggest challenges.

 8/7/21 Saturday -

9:30am Breakfast: pancake, ran out of the entire mix just under 1/3 cup, so added in some wheat flour to finish off the serving ;) 160, with a lot of tasty apricot jelly 150. and a small coffee 40. 350..also included is a serving of gummy vitamins - i take the elderberry ones that look like a bunch of grapes gummy shape. 350...

1pm lunch - i think leftover thai food from the end of last weekend...leftover bamboo/veggie mix in some sauce 150, leftover fried small spring roll 100, lrg serving  2% greek yogurt to finish the container wityh stevia 200, fiber one lg cookie 120; blueberries will wash the whole ;pint and eat all now or save some for later 250.

fell asleep 1:45-2:30pm...

2:45 caffeine  drink, choc 100

6/6:30 dinner: rest of some cherry tomatoes, negl, some animal crackers 50, some stacy's pita chips 200. 1egg, 1 egg white 100, heating up a frozen cauli crust 300 of a brand i used to by, prob 3-4 years old. still good was air sealed. forgot calories, may put a slice of munster cheese 50 on it..

still have one cauliflour crust left in the freezer. def will try to eat what's in freezer and then buy new items..

chocolate around 10pm hungry/couldn't sleep. 50

2050.

Do all Laundry / Clean guinea pig cages- pretty much DONE!

No exercise today, on couch. at least laundry is done...

Do the application for the Judge Secretary job in Westchester; which i do not plan on being actively considered for, but i should update my resume to date (not too much updating needed) and do the application as part of my work to get into the courts...i do want this for my future

Organize my notebook and notes for the exam; write a list of formulas and corresponding page numbers

Set up and request proctor for exam; choose date tbd right now.

Try to do evening weights, but OK to skip until Monday if need be....

No food shopping necessary; tomorrow I'll do extra takeout food for help me for the upcoming week like I did last weekend..sorta promised i'd make a salad for work...ugh...not really in mood to even step into a grocery store today...so i will NOT! i'll prob do it on Monday...pick up all fruits/veggies for the week...i just don't have it in me to venture out today food shopping, at all, no matter how short the shopping trip.

I do think that I may be better off in the NYS courts than in the private union electrical industry. I do think my future will have more of a safety net and security with the courts, almost definitely.  My dad is turning 69. Yes, he'll always have pull even after retirement, but that's a stress on him, too.

Money-wise, working in the courts is better than what I currently make. In the past, i was making more than i woul have in the courts, but this job has changed that scenario and I'm making lower and will not get the automatic raises that come with years when you work in the courts.

Like I said, assuming I am capable / competant to do the court work and not have employment issues, the NYS Courts would be the way to go for me.

The court work is admistrative and you learn as you go.  It is similiar level to paralegal/assistant/secretarial/ lower status, not high legal positions at all; but with muliple opportunities to advance in work level as well as contract pay grades.

where i am now, there is no set contract pay grades. it is what it is - whatever you agree with the company. not so for electricians, but i'm not one of those, i'm an office assistant.

8/8/21 Sunday -

supermarket

cooking veggies.

skipping farm due to feeling quite tired Saturday and knowing i still need to do weights today.

trying to rest / not overdo today because it will be a full week of work again this week :)

(thankfully) beach cancelled due to slightly colder weather with possible rain.....been feeling a bit tired so i do not mind this one bit. was thinking to do farm instead, but, i do not think it's a good idea as i'm feeling quite tired. also, it'd prob be better just to not skip another weights workout...and i had promised coworkers i'd make them a salad, which sounds easy but it's not bc i have to buy the stuff and go out...which isn't hard but i wasn't in the mood. with everything canceled, it will be easier and facilitate me making a salad....i know, it's laughable, but i wasn't feeling up to it originally.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 08/07/2021:
Very interesting to read... I did realize that your calorie counts, for the most part, have been lower, recently. I don't know about you, but I find this easier to do in the warmer, summer months than in the winter. I too hope to maintain my loss as we head on into autumn and winter (and holidays). That seems so far away, considering today feels like 90F outside, but I know this challenge is inevitable.

I am rather surprised that you want to keep this lower weight. I guess I always thought you were quite content at 115. However, logically, your reasoning is sound and logical. Also, as someone who has lost the "last 10 pounds", I am appreciating what a lighter body feels like, and I can relate to feeling more comfortable at a lower number.

I support your decision to get into the court system 100%. I think that will be a good, challenging area for you. People think that police is where all the action is, but I tell you, it's the courts where it *really* happens. I found, when I worked for Child Support Enforcement, that even the most mundane tasks could be very interesting, because the material I was handling was so fascinating. So, for example, not the filing, but what was being filed was the fascinating part. Not the data entry, but the actual data I was inputting -- fascinating.

bearcountrygg on 08/07/2021:
I see you are eating a fiber one cookie......do they bloat you? That brand makes me miserable.I'm the only one I know that reacts like that to that brand.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
as long as it's just the one, i'm ok. maybe gas right after but nothing crazy, nothing annoying at all! those cookies, the soft baked choc chip are so good!

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
HoP, how long would the commute be to Westchester? Think it was an hour train ride from the in-laws into Manhattan

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
driving, in the AM, i think it would be 1.5hrs with traffic. without, it is an hour. coming home, assuming traffic isn't too bad, 1.5 hours also, i think, since i'm not driving thru the city. it's not a great commute, i'm almost thinking not to apply as i know i prob wouldn't be considered?...ah, i'll do it for laughs, i guess.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
If you did well, but someone else got the job, would they possibly offer you another position now or later?

Three hours a day? Yuk! Lousy commute, but people do it & worse

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
my commute right now is the same as what this would be! i know, yuck! one girl i work with, 3hrs each way...6hr commute = no way!

she lives on the jersey shore in Toms River and literally commutes 3 hrs each way to harlem. i couldn't live that kind of lifestyle.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
but this is why i may not apply to the job. as i'm not really going to leave this one, yet, i do not think?

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and they are bound to hire someone closer.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
The way somethings work they already know who will get the job and have to interview as a formality.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
it seems that way for this one.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Used to happen in the big city school district where I worked in California

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
Happens EVERYWHERE! :)

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and, yes, this happened a TON for music teacher positions in the Long Island school districts. I know of many cases of it happening.

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Yep, happens everywhere. Ever notice how most successful actors have patents or other family in the business?

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
YES..., like Kate Hudson. she's a huge one. on instagram, she posted her 3yo daughter singing with her, the daughter can def carry a tune...

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
and the young female Osborne...

so many, yes...

Jacky82020 on 08/07/2021:
Yep. Like Angelina Jolli. Her dad is John Voight. Watched part of old movie last night, Paper Moon (too sappy 4 me) And the star, Ryan O’Neil, I think, costarred with his kid. She was very talented. Probably took acting lessons since she was two. LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
most definitely when she was 2! :) ;)

I love that woman, Angelina Jolie!

Donkey on 08/08/2021:
I was thinking, with everything going on, and being so tired, maybe it would be a good idea to pass on applying for the job right now. Even though it would be just "for kicks", it's still a stressful process to get everything together, do the application, etc. -- stressful and time-consuming.

It might be a better allocation of your energies to just focus on the Accounting test right now.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/08/2021:
yes, i'm going to let it pass thanks for the comment. you've kinda cemented it in that i can just take it off my list.

Donkey on 08/06/2021:
Definitely see how you are feeling about taking the test this weekend - I agree with that! It looks like next weekend might be a better choice?

It is about to get very hot here again, too, and I am not looking forward to that. I'm sure you agree that it makes being outside, for activity (walking, leg exercises), a little more difficult... Hot days are good for resting.

Just asking: did you get in upper body weights last night? have you applied for the court job? No pressure whatsoever, just checking in :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/06/2021:
I did get the weights in last night, just upper. when i do the lower also with upper, it just takes more time and ends up stressing me out (even though lower could take a fast 10 minutes, it's just too many requirements to put on myself is how i feel about it).

i try not to skip the upper body as i've worked so hard at it and lately i find i do better sticking with it during the week than the weekends!

the court application i will do tomorrow when i have more time, yes.

yeah, i cannot even schedule it for this weekend. i may not schedule it until i know i am as prepared as i can get.

i may walk in the evening tonight back at home instead of the afternoon earlier by work bc of the sun / extra heat mid-day....

hot days are def good for resting, but i have had no cardio wednesday and most of the day off yesterday....so i'm getting it in today because i do not think i will push it tomorrow either, prob sticking with indoor bike as i have a bunch of things on my plate at home tomorrow already :)

I hope you have a Happy Friday!

bearcountrygg on 08/06/2021:
I think the idea of having to pay and go through the course again would make me want to give it my all this time!!.....it's probably well worth throwing your time and thoughts into just getting down to the real nitty gritty....LOL...Have you ever heard that song???? LOL....Okay...now I have an ear worm and have to go look that up on you tube...I NEED THAT SONG TODAY!!!

horn_of_plenty on 08/06/2021:
Look up the song so i can listen to it.

yes, there's no way i could pay/take the course and all those exams ever again. I'll do what i can to prepare as best i can, see if i can review my old exams...

and hope that i can prepare enough to pass. i couldn't prepare to get an A - it is over my head at this point.

but i'll do their online review and see if my exams are still available to be reviewed (the past ones)...and like you said, i'll try my best to be as prepared as i can be.

and if i fail, i will need to let this go.

bearcountrygg on 08/06/2021:

horn_of_plenty on 08/06/2021:
will take a listen tonight :) or maybe on the way home! :)

bearcountrygg on 08/06/2021:
I checked it....you will find it under the youtube heading...copy and paste worked. The story of my 14 year old life...I'm sure our parents thought we were all going to be total idiots.......but the song means get things done...so...that was something....the dancing was interesting...LOL....and yup...we wore bows in our hair....LOL

horn_of_plenty on 08/06/2021:
lol ;)

Donkey on 08/07/2021:
Ohhh, I forgot that you have to schedule the proctor for your exam. Well, once you do that, then you'll know when you're taking the test. Maybe next weekend? You were going to be at that work retreat thing anyway, so maybe then...

Horn_of_plenty on 08/07/2021:
yes, i will decide soon, once i am done "preparing"...i wont be fully prepared as i didn't do that well throughout. but i need to prepare more to at least feel it's "worth" scheduling the test because it'll be worth it as i'll do the best i can, and really that means i am looking to pass.

All chapters review & Accounting Final Exam: Weekend of 8/7/21. notes can be used i was told. I MAY make tabs on my notes just to know what sections to turn to when reading the question, knowing what topic it's referring to. Might also make tabs on formulas on my notes, for easier reference...may take time to do this A LITTLE BIT at work? we'll see how busy everything is this week. i should bring notes to work, plus i have the sticky tabs at work - perhaps take some tabs home...i can also do this kind of marking up of my notebook

Donkey on 08/05/2021:
Great idea to just drive in early! How is it that this option was not brought to the conversation sooner, right? It seems quite self-evident, yet I confess that it just never occurred to me to drive in early. Oh my, I'm laughing at myself right now.

That's good to know about the final exam being a 1x take. IDK, don't get stuck in thinking that you need just a little more time to study... That is to say, sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and go for it. (I did that with my loan originator licensing test, as well as a couple of paralegal online tests. Otherwise, I'd just keep putting it off, never really feeling "ready", if that makes sense.)

It has been an odd week of sleep for me as well. I bet you'll sleep better once this darn Accounting thing is out of the way. That's a positive thought! :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/05/2021:
I haven't really studied much at all for accounting which is the reason i really may not be ready. However, I will mark up my notes so i can find things easier; and just hope i pass. if i don't, i will not take it again.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/05/2021:
i am able to study more on public transportation than by driving...as i didn't leave as early as i do for public transportation, but i also got to work in record time since there was even less traffic.

lol, you wouldn't have thought about it as it wasn't introduced...and; it sorts of defeats the purpose of saving money i guess to just drive at an earlier hour...but it is good, and a good way to also get more exercise...just by leaving earlier....

i may do it more, we'll see..

i am lucky my commute is rather short right now (half hour or a hair more) when i leave around 6-6:15am. Going home on the free bridge, is 1.5 hours. LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 08/05/2021:
it is a good way to get more exercise in, before the real day starts, by just driving early though. especially if i have nothing else going on (no studies really, etc)

Did you cancel the farm on Tuesday 8/17 so as not to take a day off?

Ugh, I do not welcome the feeling of having to prepare for a final exam. Do you get re-takes with the final?

It's probably a good idea to rest today. If you take public transportation tomorrow, you'll make up for it. And if you don't, you're still dealing with the additional stress of the upcoming exam. Oh well, soon it will be over, which is a lovely thought :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/04/2021:
Oh, i still need to look into retakes, that you for that reminder! i'll check on the site tonight if i can find that answer or i'll have to email the company...thanks for the reminder that i needed to check that...not sure.

horn_of_plenty on 08/04/2021:
yeah, since i'm not going on that educational weekend away, and i will be done with classes for a couple weekends in August, i'm trying to delay using as many days...because i may want to actually go away with other friend Jen locally for an overnight around her bday/my bday in sept/oct..and also with the class i'm taking, i'll make better use of days off in the future than all in mid-august.

yeah, i do not want to take the day off yet; i'll take it off for farm when the business law class has started so i can possibly study that day too and go to farm a shorter time in the AM...trying to make better use of a day off.

Jacky82020 on 08/04/2021:
What do you mean by pay to pick? I hear of places where you pick your own strawberries etc & pay for how much you have.

horn_of_plenty on 08/04/2021:
that's what i meant....we may skip until apple picking tho! :) i wouldn't mind. i've picked plenty. i was going to do it for her....but do not mind skipping until Fall!

Jacky82020 on 08/04/2021:
Never tried that, sounds fun!

horn_of_plenty on 08/04/2021:
it's fun, very overpriced! but good exercise, etc. nice atmosphere to be in. plus, you can eat apples as you go, LOL. also, they do taste very fresh.

Jacky82020 on 08/04/2021:
I should try that sometime!

Donkey on 08/03/2021:
I thought "passing" was 70% or better. Is it 75%? Oh well, you PASSED and that's what counts!!! I was very happy to read this, this morning.

I'm also glad to hear that the weekend outing has been canceled. A COVID workshop canceled due to COVID. The whole thing was irony personified. Oh my goodness... We'll all have a good chuckle over that one, some day.

I'm feeling a little lagging today, in the sleep/energy/exercise departments, too. I'll have to do some readjusting to my routine, too. But I'll think of you doing lower body weights --- that should inspire me to do something, even if it's not much.

horn_of_plenty on 08/03/2021:
having smaller, easily attainable goals are also known as "BTN" Better Than Nothing goals :) I heard that on the radio and did think of you; and how your goals to me sounded more attainable this month as BTN goals...which set you up to reach them rather than fully for goals that are too high and leave you unable to reach them...

I also thought of myself and my little workouts before work as BTN goals.

horn_of_plenty on 08/03/2021:
yes, it's "hilarious" over that workshop and all related.

Jacky82020 on 08/03/2021:
76 used to be above average, not barely passing. Guess it all depends. At least you passed! Congrats!

horn_of_plenty on 08/03/2021:
haha. i do think 70 is passing but 76 is still a C. i didn't study hardly at all besides taking notes.

for this whole course, it was more just taking notes 1x and either studying on the bus or taking the test blind as I did for exam 4. i was able to google some formulas as well as some answers/principles while taking the tests, but it's formatted in a way that you do need a good understanding of the topics...hence my 70's grade. it shows the minimal work i did to get thru the class, with some general knowledge/principles...which i can say is good enough for me and now i know i do not want to study business/accounting further. i just didn't want to quit the class :)

thank you :)

Jacky82020 on 08/03/2021:
Good to complete a class, generally speaking! You done good, Hop!

horn_of_plenty on 08/03/2021:
i am not done yet...i have this final...i have to check if it's a one-take final or multiple attempts, good luck to me!!!

thank you for your enthusiasm as well !! xo

Accounting - Exam 4 (Chapters 7, 11):....got a 76%, passed by the skin of my teeth tonight. took the exam from around 9:30pm-10:30pm...moving forwards to reviewing my notes for the final that i'll take on the weekend!  i was able to look up formulas on phone and hints on google while taking it..glad i didn't need to take it again.

All chapters review & Accounting Final Exam: Weekend of 8/7/21. notes can be used i was told. I MAY make tabs on my notes just to know what sections to turn to when reading the question, knowing what topic it's referring to. there's a random opening for a court job - secretary to judge. it's not in my county or a neighboring county, but in Westchester which is a few counties away. like an hour drive, no traffic. i will apply although i think they will end up hiring someone from that county and not mine due to convenience of the person being able to work/get to work/life-work balance. and also they may just only look into applicants from that county in general. once in awhile, i browse the NYS courts site for career info. there are no tests for the bigger allotments of job titles, but there is this secretary to judge position which sounds somewht similar, yes, to a paralegal. with all i have studied, i will apply just for fun / laughs because i do not expect to be looked at as a serious candidate bc i live an hour away and it's only ONE job with many applicants, but it is over 10k more than i make and i WOULD take the job i think...the trip would be sorta long, but, i also know the workday would be slightly shorter.

all in all, it would be in my best interest to leave my field and get into the courts....and i can only do it by applying to any and every position that looks valuable enough. I do have a friend that lives in Westchester, C, and perhaps she in fact would be kind enough to sometimes meet for dinner or walk with me after work....or allow me to stop at her place to not face traffic on the way home....of course this is all fantasy now. it will most prob not work out as a job as, based on who notices the job as it was placed rather hidden on the site, there could be hundreds of applicantts - for one secretary to judge job. LOL. just saying i'm applying.

this random job was posted around 1 week ago; and applications are due by late august. so it will only be posted for a period of a month for applications to be made. they also might have someone in mind and just be posting as a matter of business requirements.

I will apply either this weekend, during this week, or next weekend. i do not see it going anywhere, but like Donkey said, i should apply to any possibility to get into the habit of checking for jobs/staying on top of things.

and believe it or not, it's a farther drive than my commute now; but; no traffic directly driving in Manhattan.  I will not have to drive in NYC borough of Manhattan or completely near it, so, the commute wouldn't necessary be longer than my commute now (coming home!). it's similar to what i have now, maybe even less slowdowns because of traffic jams. and parking up there is good. like i said, i'll apply. but since i haven't worked in courts, i sorta know it's going nowhere. just doing the application; to make sure...

8/2/21 Monday

breakfast: banana 150, pump pie 300, coffee negl.

snacks: rest of the pie from above, spicy dill pickle almonds 100

lunch: there were fresh bagels (very big in size we are in NYC) so i had a lg half 250, leftover chicken pieces 150, some rice that i brought 100, some squash that i brought 100...600. will def have some coffee.

snacks: oreo dbl stuff caramel amazingness 100, couple candies throughout day 50

7:15pm dinner: picked up mcdonalds on the way home, 4 nuggets and sauce 200, med fries didn't have all but most (threw some out before starting to eat) 350, tomatoes 50..600...passion fruit beer 200

2100...

10 min walk before work, recorded.; 1hr45min walk after work, was spontaneous that i got that long. leisurely pace always.everything recorded :) yes, i had not planned on such a long walk, my ankle is a little sore, but nothing terrible. it was nice to discover new places around where i work.

after work planning on cardio just on my bike at home, half hour tonight, easy....but if weather is nice out, i may walk a little by work on the water, before driving home...

i may study / take exam 4 tonight...will DEF do one attempt at it....for sure. bc the topics are slightly easier....than i can move on to taking the final, which will be done before next Monday!

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Jacky82020 on 08/02/2021:
I’ve visited Westchester County, the tiny town of Thornwood. Matt’s parents moved there from the Bronx when he was in elementary school. You could take a train to Manhattan & it was so much fun! Sure I mentioned this if not once than a hundred times. His dad attended the Juilliard and played in big Broadway musicals.

The house was modest, but had a lovely 1 acre lot. Matt’s chain smoking mom drove me nuts!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/02/2021:
i forgot where in Westchester thornwood is, i'll have to look it up. 1 acre isn't so small. in the city areas, the homes are right next to each other...

yes, the suburban westchester area is wonderful and EASY to get into the city. that's the draw and why it's mostly so pricey to live there :) i forgot his dad went to julliard and played in the orchestras that's really cool.

i always hated smokers / smokey rooms too. once took a flight when i was 12 going to Israel, there were stiill smoking sections then! ha!

Donkey on 08/02/2021:
Hope you have a great day! It would be nice to take Exam 4 soon, so that you have more time to organize for the final exam. Do you get re-takes on the final exam too, like with the others?

I would be interested to hear if volunteering on the farm during the week is different than it was on the weekend, when it happens. :-)

horn_of_plenty on 08/02/2021:
yes, i def want this course finished before going away for that weekend coming up. also, it means i can fully enjoy my last days off that i take from work, without studies. :)

for the final, there is actually a review topic, topic 15. i wasn't aware until this weekend that i may have to read another whole topic.

i am not sure about retakes, and it's something in the back of my head, too. i will review...

exam 4 does seem a little easier in topics than exam 3....i hope it's the case whenever i try to take it...

i may study on bus/train one day this week, for the final, if possible (if i want to wake up in the AM)...it would also help me get in some cardio (public transportation) without trying :)

I will review tonight or ask the question on the Straighterline site if there are retakes so i have an answer before attempting the final. Already, i had asked about notes, i am certain that they answered saying i can use more than one page of notes (not one page like it says on their site). so i'll obviously use my entire notebook of notes..

bearcountrygg on 08/02/2021:
I'm sure you are relieved to have an easier class.....

horn_of_plenty on 08/02/2021:
oh yeah...more relieved when i pass this class, it will be very frustrating if i don't!....hope to be done by the weekend.

the next class is far easier, business law, and faster - and i must go at the online course pace. will be very happy to be through the accounting. will prob never take another accounting course again! :)

Weekend of fri afternoon 8/13-8/16 sunday AM....totally signed up last minute for this educational seminar with the club i'm in thru union (gave into the guy asking i participate)..not sure the topic is great (Covid - like i really need more education on this!?)...we'll see how it is. anyways, i'll prob take days off before/after this event as it's going to take most of the weekend (sleepover 2 nights out east) and i'm totally not ok with working straight, a weekend away for "work" and then back to work with no days off...so i have to plan for this. my parents will be there too...but we'll see...it's a lot of sitting in class, will try to at least get minimal amounts of exercise i like on this weekend..

8/14 Saturday

8/15 Sunday

8/16 - Monday, Vacation Day 8 -...another beach day with Christine..since my classes are done, etc?

8/17 - Tuesday, Vacation Day 8 - 10am-12pm Volunteering at farm (for exercise and for food - i will NOT leave empty-handed!!!!).

8/23 Monday - Business Law course starts :-D

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 08/01/2021:
I hope the farm goes well! Greens for the piggies - they will be so happy :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
Will skip farm bc it's too much of an obligation as i should study much more; and want to do my weights :) it's ok.

Jacky82020 on 08/01/2021:
Yay! Piggie greens & some for HoP!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
Decided to skip it; need to study and also lift weights. cannot fit it all in without a lot of stressing :) it's ok. at least piggies still have some extra corn husks.

i am sad to skip, but i know there will be a few other days when i will go...and the farm usually lasts thru the fall. i'll make up for it <3

ty for your cute comment :)

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
sad not to attain the free food, but my time is too valuable to go there today to volunteer. and going to buy the food is out of the question as the prices are exorbitant.

Donkey on 08/01/2021:
I will respond to your great comments on my diary from yesterday (Saturday, 7/31) - thank you!!!!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
thank you for responding back. your comments made me feel a lot better. i needed to talk it out with someone; for some level of understanding and i guess sympathy from ...YOU.

i appreciate what you wrote. thank you for reminding me it's ok to have my boundaries and not feel like i have to do anything just to make her happy...that my own happiness will come first in this friendship. thank you.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
At least i have made it so i have had my own unique experiences; by going on all the different tours and volunteer events. all new places, new memories.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
i don't always want to do it all alone; but for now, that is the way it is. i hope down the road to meet a new partner; we'll see. really my main goal, not sure it will happen, is to move out of my profession and into the courts. after that, i feel i could be more open to relationships.

and if my goals don't happen that way, or i never get into the courts, i will accept it...unlike what i've said in the past when i didn't see life worth living...honestly...i will have to accept the future and whatever outcome it is. and that is OK with me now.

bearcountrygg on 08/01/2021:
I see you cancelled the farm today.....Getting the classes over sounds like a good thing to be working on.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
thank you Bear, i was getting stressed thinking how if i had to go to farm, nothing else would be gotten done! thank you.

Donkey on 08/01/2021:
YES - APPLY!!! The more you apply, the more comfortable you will get with it, and there is always a chance.

And I too noticed that you canceled the farm. It's probably for the best, to get through this damn accounting class (lol).

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
yes, i will apply for it today...

and YES, it's all due to the darn accounting class! right again! :) haha

Jacky82020 on 08/01/2021:
Yes, prioritize! Your studies etc more important than the farm.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
yes, it's time to finish this darn accounting 101 course! too much lol.! it's been on my plate too long, time to finish it!

happy-1 on 08/01/2021:
Omg, the farm seriously needs to rethink their volunteer policies.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/01/2021:
do you mean in terms of skipping or in terms of sending volunteers home with a little sumthin' sumthin' ?

8/17 - Tuesday, Vacation Day 9 - 10am-12pm Volunteering at farm

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 07/31/2021:
I wish you a productive day at home with your studies today. A nice change of pace after your outing yesterday. (Perhaps?) Coffee and pie is a lovely way to start off. Something so comforting about pumpkin pie -- I think it's the spices that evoke nostalgia, making it taste even better... :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
it was mostly just resting and it was a great change of pace, that's correct, after yesterday.

i agree coffee goes with a nice, delicious slice of pie and yes i guess the spices are what really make the pie! it was actually a little rich and i think i may try again using evaporated milk, but not the whole can like i did last time since those cans are bigger than of the condensed milk...

i do think the spices make the pump pie. i ranted on your journal.

life is good right now; but i do wish i had a partner who would challenge me. i think this will come again for me; but not now; later when I am more open to it. i am in no rush. it's just i do not like outtings where there is nothing to learn, nothing new to see. my friend doesn't care to learn or see. it can be hard. LOL. but i got exercise in; i'm not saying i got nothing out of it :)

Jacky82020 on 07/31/2021:
Yes! August already!

Hope the farm has take out goodies for you & the piggies.

I saw the cutest pigs at petsmart. They had three wide bands around their chubby bodies: white, black & red. Also saw a cutie called a Syrian hamster. B&W

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
Now you know me! YES, i hope there's some good takeout veggies also tomorrow!!! :)

also, how nice you got to take a little trip into Petsmart! i would have asked to hold those cuties. 3 stripes is awesome and very colorful! hamsters are so cute too. it's so sweet looking at all the pets...

Jacky82020 on 07/31/2021:
I went to Petsmart to look at goldfish. I bought a 40 Gallon tank at a terrific price. All the goldfish at Petsmart were sick and not for sale. The water was all cloudy with medications. I called another big box pet shop & they said the same for theirs. So will get them at Petco tomorrow. They can grow fast in a big tank, so it will be fun to watch.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
that is so odd they are all sick :(

what about the sea monkeys? can they all be in the same tank?

Jacky82020 on 07/31/2021:
Very strange. They said at the second store they use the same vendor as Petsmart. the sea monkeys will be raised in a jar and fed to the fish. They are just tiny tiny brine shrimp.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
ohhhh! great idea i love this - raising sea monkeys and them using them as feed ;)

Jacky82020 on 07/30/2021:
Great job at maintaining! I find it very difficult. Do you?

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
It has gotten easier with time; but there's always the challenge to not get into the habit of indulging again.

I find it easier when my schedule is somewhat busy as i'm distracted and don't think about food.

maintaining was very difficult when i was first starting. but bc i lost weight so slowly at first, i got used to knowing what i need to maintain. also, i count calories; so i base what i eat specifically on that. i count as i go thru the day; knowing if my calories are good or high by dinner.

sometimes i still go over calories, we are all only human, but i find it a lot easier now than in the past.

final answer, maintaining gets a bit easier with time.

bearcountrygg on 07/30/2021:
Blueberries here today too.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/31/2021:
they are so good at their freshest! :) enjoy!!!

Donkey on 07/31/2021:
I hope you had a good time at the beach! Getting all that vitamin D, and listening to the waves. Did you all pack a lunch?

And then you had the motivation to bake a pie! I was surprised and delighted to read this - yay!!! I know you love pumpkin pie for breakfast :-) Now that is something to get up for!

Jacky82020 on 07/31/2021:
I am finding maintaining as difficult as losing, but perhaps I’ve forgotten how miserable it was.
