I can't believe it is Thrusday all ready. Tuesday I took DH to PT and he is doing unbelievable. Picked up the girl and took her to our house. DH cooked steak and potatoes for us. I had a high day of 1767 calories. The young adult came over and helped DH put the snow blower in the shed. And saw some limbs off a tree. DH asked him to do other things but he said he didn't want to get his new Nike shoes dirty and then he said he didn't come over to work..which was true.

But later the conversation went to...

DH: Hey Joe i would like for you to come and help me do this and that.

Joe: Hey dad, You don't pay me.

DH says: You make $10 an hour right? Joe says yes. Well the way I see it, your insurance is $130 a month and you haven't been here for 13 hours so STFU!

It was all in jest, but it was so funny...and Joe STFU...I think he gets it.

Wedesday - I took the entire day off from work. i took DH to his post op appointment and he can drive again...YAY! He probably won't be able to go back to work until 6/19/17 - OUCH! I'll be scraping to pay some bills in June - I'm glad I will have three pay days in July which will help.

We went to Lowes and picked up a new push mower and wagon for the tractor and then went to Sams and bought a small freezer. We had money saved for these specific items (which now I wish we would have waited until July) but oh well, hopefully DH's temporary disability payment will kick in. we will be fine.

We went to a grill for lunch and I had a pulled pork sandwich and only ate half of it. I ate the other half for dinner, which would of been OK, but the young adult was over again helping DH put together the  mower and wagon and I made some brownies. Ended the day with 2334.

I had an epiphony that on 4/28 I will have three months until I'm 50, so I need to kick my exercise and eating into high gear.

B: toast, peanut butter, iced vanilla latte

I think we are having pizza for dinner but not sure

Saturday we are supposed to use the gift card from the cheesecake factory and Sunday is the get real date.... We will see how this works out.

Have a good one!

Hi InnerP!

My computer keeps freezing so I'm taking another break and writing to you..

I agree with you - this week sped by! I know it's because I was busy doing a lot of activities...makes me wanna stay busy next week and not skip a meeting...but I'll see...i'm tired and could use a night at home and not an extra night out! So, yeah, skipping that meeting. It's not mandatory.

Yup, if his dad is paying his insurance, J should def be helping his dad! yes.

Good the $ situation is ok...good. and i'm glad your hubby is doing ok.

Even though you ended the day with 2300 calories or so, it's not overdone. It will totally balance in the week. overboard is 3000 cal. you will be fine.

keep staying on track, lady. be proud of all you do.

make sure to rest when you need it.

and i'm happy for you turning 50 because you already have been doing positive things for your health. so stay happy and healthy!

It was a great weekend. The best I've had in a long time. I want to say it is because DH wasn't working, but maybe it was just a great weekend.

Saturday the young no it all adult came over and borrowed DH's truck to haul stuff to the recycler. DH, the girl and I went shopping. We came back home, went to our zentangle class. It was nice and relaxing. After the class we went home. I cooked a few dishes and we had our Easter meal on Saturday. After dinner I walked the dog and then we went to Lowes and picked up some flowers and then we watched Annie. It was nice and stress free.

Sunday I was up early because I set up the scavenger hunt game for the girl. Then DH and I went outside and repotted the flowers we bought. They were very pretty...begonias, marigolds and dahlias. DH mowed the back and I pushed the walk behind around the house and trees. We had the yard work finished by 10:30. The girl was up about 9:30 and did her scavenger hunt up and down the stairs and around the house. The young adult came over and I had my little "stupid" talk with him. I think...think he understands where I'm coming from now and hopefully he'll ease up on all the stupid talk.

THe girl is paranoid N. Korea is going to attack the US and I hate that she carries around this worry. I tried to explain to her all the military posts, aircraft, fighter ships and everything that is there to protect the United States and how there are back up plans to back up plans and N. Korea is so far away. I don't know if I helped, but I tried. She says lots of people on her face book post about WW3. I would love to take away her social media awhile but her stepfather and mother have news on 24/7 and I doubt that it would.  We had leftovers around lunch time with both of DH's kids. I know he enjoyed this very much. This is the first Easter the three of them have been together in five years.

The young adult left about 4:30, the girl went back to her mothers about 6:00. I was awake about 4:15 this morning and made the mistake of reading my phone.  I received a text at 11:30 at night from her mother telling me that the girl wanted to make sure I locked all the doors and windows because the Facebook killer had ties to people in Elyria and Lorain and he could make it back to this area....SERIOUSLy!! I didn't know anything about this. DH didn't close the downstairs windows and I was afriad to go downstairs...what if?

What a lame excuse!! anyway, I didn't do zumba this morning, meant too, but didn't..

Calories were so so this weekend...but I am back on track today!

the girl has illogical fears it sounds! i hope she can talk to therapist about this and get it worked out ASAP!

ok...other than that...sounds good on the part of you & your step son...or his son....and sounds very good that a good Easter and weekend was had by all! I have never in my life heard of that type of exercise lol...i should google that!

and i'm really glad the girlie was entertained by your easter egg game...really cute, IP!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/17/2017:
i think just tell the girl....somethign like "if you live in fear you will never be able to live & enjoy life...."...

like, there's thousands of things to be afraid of...but what's the point of ruining a good day with fear?

tell her to think positively about the world instead of thinking only about dangers.

you can get killed just walking....but that's not the healthy way to think!!!!!!

Got home and DH and I hate honey backed turkey sandwiches for dinner. I ended the day with 1518 calories.

HOP The honey backed ham store - yes the ham is fully cooked and ready to heat. I guess you could heat it up if you wanted but it is good cold. They sell it by the slice, quarter ham or half ham. It is not cheap. I spent almost $100 on a quarter ham and a turkey breast. It is very good though.

After dinner I had to write out two checks one to the State of Ohio and one to the Regional Income Tax people. I hated doing this...hoping next year I will not have to pay taxes. The total of both checks was lest than $90 so I am really OK with it.

After that chore was complete I got the girls scavenger hunt Easter stuff together - the end of the scavenger hunt tells her EB (easter bunny) left her stuff under her bed but she must go to seven different places in the house only to go back to her room. Hopefully she will enjoy this.

The rest of the evening was spent relaxing.

Have a zentangle class scheduled for tomorrow and I think the stepson is coming over. DH said he could borrow his truck - I hope he knows what he is doing...

Hoping for a nice relaxing weekend....for all!

We ended up paying taxes to the state of Illinois this year :-(

A scavenger Easter hunt sounds like fun! That's a great idea! Back when my kids were little, I'd drive them up to Grandma's in Wisconsin. We'd have an outdoor Easter egg hunt and an indoor Easter egg hunt. I think I have over 200 plastic eggs in the basement in storage now from those days. Ahh memories.

Very good on the calories this week -- I've been reading your entries. Bravo!

PS Enjoy zentangle -- I don't do it, but I have a FB friend who posts some of her work, and it relaxes me just to look at her drawings.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/17/2017:
The Ham sounds amazingly tasty! yum....a nice, fresh ham sandwich sounds delightful....way better than cold cuts i assume? like the real deal ham? sounds tasty and must be for that price! yum, i'd def take some of that!

Do you have a Roth? is that why you owe taxes more? because i hear with Roth accounts, you don't get a big return at end of year, but when you take out money after retirement, that money that's been taxed each year doesn't get taxed later....i need to open one when i am making more money....in a few years.

i will have both 401k and roth when i retire, i think.

innerpeace on 04/17/2017:
No ROTH just my thrift savings from work. We owe because I had a retirement for the State of Ohio when i worked at the university that I cashed in and they added that amount to our income and didn't pay state tax on it. It was about $7600 that no state tax was taken out - so the State of Ohio dinged us for their amount. The regional is city and usually it is reciprocated from the state - but we had to pay state so we owed regional stuff too. It wasn't that much.

The ham was good. But I do not want to see ham again until Christmas.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 04/17/2017:
lol i guess you had enough ham to suffice to a long time it sounds ;-) haha

oh yes....it's so CRAZY the amount that retirement accounts get taxed when they are cashed in....like at least 30% is taken away if not more from us! nuts, yes. sorry that you were dinged your hard-earned money....the gov't loves to take our cash!

I guess I'm in a funk...not that I'm doing bad things - but I've cut down on doing the good things. Wednesday - did not even think about posting in my diary - this is usually foremost on my mind. Tuesday calories 1229, Wednesday calories 1489. I have not quit logging my food though, which is good.

Tuesday I took DH to his physical therapy appointment - hopefully next week he will be released to drive himself. Anyway, while sitting in the waiting room in front of the lab an older gentleman (late 60s, early 70s) sat down and tried to unzip his jacket. You know how sometimes the zipper will snag the material on the side and the zipper jams? Well anyway this apparently happened to gentleman and he would zip up the zipper and try to unzip again, only to get stuck in the same spot - high enough he couldn't take the jacket off. I sat there and watched him. He was getting irritated, started breathing hard and turning red in the face. He was muttering, damn jacket, stupid jacket! He was kicking his feet and stamping like a spoiled child. I looked over at him and he says...this damn thing is new! I hate zippers and this one is just junk! I got up and approached him, asked if I could see it. He jutted his chest out and said, be my guest! So I zipped his zipper up and pulled it down slowly and pulled the material out of the zipper path and it went down smoothly. I just smilled and said there you go! He said, thank you good samaritan. No problem I said. I just didn't want you to start biting on it like I've seen some kids do. He just cackled and took of his jacket.  And some people wonder why kids today act crazy...this was an old man. Anyway I felt good that I helped a perfect stranger...most times I would NOT have even noticed.

DH is getting around so much better! I am amazed at his recovery and look forward to him being released next week. He graduated to a cane, but only uses it sparingly. I'm just so grateful he is better. he still is fighting midnight pain though, but I believe this too shall subside in time.

DH's son (Joe) has been coming over a lot lately. I'm not sure I will be able to tell him what's what! I have asked him repeatedly to quit using the "F" word so often. And then he says everything is stuipd and I hate that. I'm on the verge of telling him the only thing that is stupid is himself for dropping out of highschool and his mother for not making him go! He said having the girl in therapy was stupid! NO what is stupid is having an adult male (the stepfather) tell her or any kid that the library is stupid! He is trying my patience!

Picked up the honey baked ham for Easter - OMG so glad I went before coming to work today (DH had PT again) there was a line out the door. I forget Good Friday seems to be a big holiday around these parts. Still getting used to this.

Eating ok, just can't seem to get back in the groove of my morning zumba. I will try to get up tomorrow. I just turn the alarm off and go back to sleep. I actually over slept Wednesday morning and did not get up until 6:50...I was scrambling trying to get to work before 8:00.

I hope you all have a great weekend, whatever religion or traditions you have.

Girl it is OK. You've had so much going on! You were on a trip that you had to prepare for. You are taking care also of your husband during his time of healing.

Good job helping the old man. How good it feels to help someone, yes. Glad you also helped him actually calm down and feel better xoxo! Sounds he DID NEED your help.

Yes, i do believe also that your hubby will fully get thru this...we all get thru these challenges. We become STRONGER. Yes, your hubby WILL. That is my opinion about it. I truly believe this 100%.

Yes the kid, his son, or stepson? of your i guess?, sounds IGNORANT. He is young and simply unaware of any truths or logical reasoning. He hasn't lived and what he thinks he knows is not fact in the least. Sorry you gotta deal with this kid. He needs a major awakening. LIke in joining the military or something . That would help him turn more into a man with STRUCTURE. That's my opinion, only.

Here in NYC, Good Friday is a big deal too. Work, just like yours, is still open also. Most DO take the day off as most in my office are Christian and many folks do have days to spare, but not everyone. Many people are in my boat, 2 weeks or so vacation a year, they are all here / leaving early. I'll be here all day...as I ALWAYS do the right thing. and my Passover Holiday - big days for that were Monday / Tuesday. I have no excuse - and will continue to prove my work ethic - to not steal time from the company when it's not mine to take. I try to be rather fair with this and try to work and structure my life ethically according to not taking too much time from the company that i'm being paid to be at...like always leaving early / coming late - but there are a few times that YES...i was paid for some time i wasn't here - i do NOT feel bad about it - I have a life too (not only the married / with kids types!) LOL...back to you!.....

is the honey baked ham already cooked from store? How does that work?

It's important to get sleep. Try to sleep in or do what you can on weekends to rest up. It's a busy time of year - especially for us working ladies.

You'll get back on your health track soon with zumba when you feel energized again. for now, just rest it up. but don't forget all the good efforts you have done so far and that they COMPLETELY outweigh you quitting those efforts. Those healthy efforts you have made have done you 100% good and i hope you will remain that way...keeping to strive to better yourself. and care for yourself. by eating more veggies and less processed food. YOU have done it, don't ever quit!

Wishing you a wonderful Easter with your family. I will hopefully see my family this weekend as well, just my mom and dad this time.

I understand how you feel, i'm frankly a bit unrested also. I am looking forward to feeling more relaxed again soon too.

Got home last night and DH had cooked dinner - love that house husband LOL. He cooked BBQ ribs and baked beans. I ended the night with 1341 calories - right around where I like to stay.

Afterwards I took Steve out and just let him walk anywhere he wanted. He took us up a few streets I've never been down. Our walk was a little over a mile and it was 43 minutes long. We were just moseying through the neighborhood.

Thought of a web scavenger hunt for the work people to do, trying to piece that together today to start tomorrow. Because of my ambition, I will have to make something at home tonight, so I am rescheduling my smart start one more time. This is for the good of mental health as well. For some reason I'm having real people issues getting myself in the gym...i suck!

DH's son was over last night and stayed about 2 1/2 hours, OMG this kid can talk about cars and racing som much it drives me insane. I compare it to Bubba in Forest Gump talking about shrimp...everything out of this young adult's mouth has something to do with cars or racing. And then when I have to sit there and listen to it for any length of time I start hearing Charle Brown's teacher...wa wa...wa wa waw waw.

On a good note - DH is improving and should be able to drive next week. This is very good. He slept most of the night last night also very good. I hope this surgery heals up good.

People that get high on other's misfortunes. Sorry got off track.

Anyways, back to the positive - that's cool that Steve and you guys walked to where you haven't been before. I love adventures and new experiences.

Friday I left work about an hour early to go pick up a perscription for DH at the clinic before they close. I stopped at picked up Jersy Mike subs for dinner. It was delicious and expensive. I ended the day with 1835 calories.

Saturday, I sat around the house waiting for 12:00 to go to my smart start class. DH's sister and brother-in-were due in, but I went to my class anyway. I arrived at the Y only to be told the person I had an appointment with called in sick and the person filling in for him was not able to instruct me at the time. I wasn't mad, kinda relieved. But the class was rescheduled again for Tuesday. I will go, even if I sit out in the parking lot for 30 minutes to get my nerve up to go back in the Y. So out of my comfort zone!

Once I got back home, sister in law and hubby were there checking on DH. I kept wondering if they thought I was being mean to him or something. But I guess they were just concerned about his well-being. He is fine! We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Not what was planned but it was good. Ended with 2139 calories.

Sunday DH over did it. He insisted on going shopping. We went to Aldi and Giant Eagle and then went home. His son came over and they went to Sam's club. Afterwards DH and his son were messing around with the lawn mower and DH mowed the front yard. He then showered and DH and the son went to the funeral home to pay respects to a friend who had passed. DH cooked dinner and 20 minutes after that he fell out asleept. I tried to wake him up a few times, but he just over did it.

Dinner for Wednesday was Jimmy Johns - haven't been eating out during the week recently - but being tired doesn't help cooking at home. With the sandwich and no zumba ended the day with 1958 calories.

I rescheduled my smart start session for Saturday at 12:30. I just had no energy to go after work yesterday, after another stressful day.

This morning was up and took DH to his PT appointment, got to work about 9:45. I decided to just take two hours of leave, I am not staying longer than normal. Not today. I will get the girl after work and we have to deal with her. This morning as I was coming downstairs, I asked DH what he was cooking I thought I smelled fish. He said he thought he smelled p!ss, of course automatically blaming my Steve. However, come to find out, the girl didn't flush the toilet after she used in last on Tuesday night. This is so disgusting. She will get a nastiness lecture tonight. I also find wadded up papertowels stuffed down in the cushions of my couch. I found three and then when I took the cushion off to look for me, I found at least a hand full of gold fish crackers down there. Seriously....not sure how one can by so nasty, but she will know about this!

I am here today!

I have been extremely busy taking care of DH and the girl. DH is getting along better but he is still unable to drive and therefore I have to take him to all of his appointments, this is running me ragged.

Friday I had a binge day - stressful afternoon at work didn't go over well with my emotional eating.

FRI - 2798

SAT - 1319

SUN - 1202

MON - 1344

TUE - 1230

I stayed within range the rest of the days. I am having difficulty getting back in my exercise mode and this has slowed. I did do zumba yesterday but was unalbe to get up this morning and do it.

Tonight I have an appointment to get the smart start tour at the Y - familitarization and introduction to the machines and decide what my goals are. This is at 7:00, so hopefully I can get home and get dinner for DH and then take off for an hour or so.

Stressing over stuff at work...because people suck!

Maybe to help you not to binge...make sure to have things that are low calorie around in case you reach for something to numb your mind - i binge only in order to relax....

sometimes when i take a sleeping pill, i have noticed weirdly enough, the urge to overeat is diminished...as what i really need is rest and not food.

Donkey on 04/05/2017:
When I'm at work, at around 3pm I start getting really stressed out because I'm so busy trying to wrap things up by 5pm and yet things (phone calls, emails, faxes) keep coming in!

When I weighed more, I would rummage around for chips. Now that I'm focused on reaching my goal weight, I munch of raw vegetables or cut up an apple and have almonds with it.

Sometimes a cup of coffee will calm me down too, strangely enough.

grannyannie on 04/06/2017:
Best not to have forbidden foods in the house. If I have nothing 'bad' to binge on then I can't and nothing healthy appeals to me when I'm in that mood.

Last night I got home and cooked some spinach and artichoke stuffed chicken, it was so delicious with salad and green beans. I then had some girl scout cookies - they are the spawn of the devil. Ended the night with 1668 calories.

Yesterday I joined the Y again to get the girl into summer camp. She is 12 I wish she could just stay by herself, I did at the age, but times are so different now with social media. I guess I can't trust who she would get involved with using it...so she will just go to camp again.

I think I will make the most of this...and with DH being unable to move around I may be able to go to the Y by myself. I called to get enrolled in the "Smart Start" to get introduced to the equipment and set some goals. Hopefully I have started some better habits with my morning zumba and food tracking that I am now ready to add some more. We will see what happens...all of this and stupid girl scout cookies.

As a child growing up, I had to spend the summers alone, because my mom (divorced, dad out of the picture entirely) had to work all the time. I attribute a lot of my depression, anger, and anxiety to the solitary confinement of my youth. So perhaps it's better for the girl to go to camp -- pretty soon she'll definitely be too old for it. And this got you back to the Y, so it can't be all bad.

I can relate to your Zumba situation (which I did not comment on a couple of days ago). We've had a houseguest set up in the basement family room, which is where my stationary bike and weight bench are. I never considered myself a "bike" person -- always thought of myself as a "walker" (not in the zombie sense, though, ... although thinking about it, maybe it applies to me in that sense too!).

But 4 days without my bike and I'm missing it so bad. I love to ride my bike and watch early morning re-runs of I Love Lucy and Brady Bunch. Or the morning news. Walking takes too long and is boring - LOL!

I hope the hubby feels better soon. My husband is looking at double hip replacement, maybe later this year, so I'll be in the same boat as you are now.

Your dinner with all the extra veg sounds so good! This is my lifestyle - extra veggies. It can cause extra gas yeah - but i don't care - it keeps my weight down!

Agreed - sweets are a devil in disguise ;-)

At 12 she is still a baby in my opinion - it's good she will be with other children socially and all...better and healthier. also better she's not in the kitchen all day...easy to gain weight in summer when not in a structured program.

Talking about starting better habits, i'm reading up a book on habits. It's such a GREAT book.

One of the superiors at work, a higher-up, recommended i read it & I am enjoying it very much.

It's about how habits are what rule the world. About how major sports teams that were failing and loosing at EVERY GAME - would actually change their prospects after working on habits for a full season...it's an amazing book.

The reason the book is so amazing to me - is how it relates to eating and my job situation. So many of our habits - are so hard to break - not because of the actual habit of the task but because of the CRAVING just before we do the habit. We learn to CRAVE the habit...our brains become intoxicated and energized most BEFORE the habit takes place. This goes for good and bad habits.

With the gym - gym goers have made gym attendance for themeslves a habit bc we crave how good we feel to complete a workout or we learn to crave the release of endorphines we get during the workout...

Habits are best when there's a reason we do them & a reward we get for after we do them...and we teach outselves, for good habits and sadly this occurs for bad habits also which is why they remain hard to break! - we learn to CRAVE THE REWARD. This book is fantastic...now i see my boss walking by...! the one who mentioned to me to read this fascinating book ;-)

Sweets are challenging for me, as well. I finally promised myself I would not bring calorie packed sweets in my home. Instead, I bought low calorie ice cream pops, Fiber One bars, and graham crackers/marshmallow fluff in the house. So far, this has worked well. Occasionally, when I am out running errands, I will grab a Peppermint Patty and devour it! You're still moving in the right direction on the scales! Keep it up Buttercup!
