Typical night of poor sleep. asleep around 11, woke at 3 and got up at 4. Did half an hour on bike when Matt got up for work at 4:30. Reading Washington Post now. Article about the very painful procedure known as the Brazilian Butt lift. They inject body fat and sometimes other crap into the butt to make it huge. They couldn't pay me to do it! Can't imagine having a big fat a$$ everyone would gawk at.
Well, girls, the image won't upload.Probably blew out the DD circuit boards. This lady could eclipse the sun with that fat butt. And to think! She paid & suffered for it!
Back to another bike session.
setting the Hearts book aside. getting into transplants & I find the animal studies disturbing, even though it had to be done to save human lives.
Finished work on the 110 G. Painted a semi-gloss over the flat black. Much nicer, easy job with 4" roller. Most difficult part was scraping adhesive from tank interior where the former owner attached some saltwater equip.
More free covid tests for everyone.People on Medicare can get 8 a month. These new 8 tests are one per house, all ages, Medicare not required.
To do & random musings
Reading fascinating book written ~1970 about the development of cardiac surgery in Houston. More on this later. It's 3 AM now & I won't get back to sleep, but haven't moved and had coffee, so a bit fatigued. Seems like 5 hours of sleep is the best I can do. Fell asleep not long after 10 last night. Still on ER binge. Bought all 15 seasons on eBay for $99.
1) Get back on bike & treadmill! Appears all the steps from running around tending to the tanks etc (up to 18K some days) does not burn as many Cals as formal exercise. Weight creeping up.
2) Painted over flat black paint on the new tank stand. Looks fabulous! Add semigloss clear coat today. Easy with 4" roller.
3) Laundry piling up. Do it! Today!
4) Spend some serious time on the stock market accounts. OMG! I am 25% poorer in 2022 than last year. Last year was terrific.....but still...
5) Be sure wear socks with my sandals. Got first sunburn in many decades on my feet while selecting rocks for the new tank at some big landscaping company last weekend. It was hot, nearly 80 & my upper feet still sting.
6) Diet pretty much the same. Hot Fiber One mid-morning, huge salad later, (adding parmasean cheese now). Dinner varies. Eat what I cook for Matt on day one, feed him leftovers the next day or two & airfry vegan burgers for myself.
This is the 110 Gallon tank delivered last night. I am ecstatic! Cost 1/3 of the 90 G tank & stand & lid. Reflections and sun streaming through skylights made it impossible to photograph very well.
Do It!
1) Rake leaves left & right of driveway & brick work. Trim back ground cover, vinca, & ferns.
2) Continue gathering Goodwill donations. Progress: 1/2 done.
3) Install 2 backup filters, one in sump tank & other in tank. half done! Install 2 new filters for the 110 to cycle when they arrive Saturday ASAP.
4) Continue work on backgrounds for tanks by window. Blue cellophane & silk Ivy.
Update: double cellophane on GloFish tank or replace with blue poster board. Algae!
5). housework. Do all bedding from hallway room. Half done.
6) Continue organizing fish equipment. Very slow progress.
7) More time in gym! More time on bike.
9) Test ammonia & nitrate levels everyday in GloFish/Syno catfish tank. Suction up uneaten catfish pellets. Udate: levels good.
10) Continue researching how to breed the GloFish. Actually looking at breeding the fish not genetically modified. Same thing.
11) Crockpot soybeans
12) Continue researching Oscar fish. Plan now is to add 2 to the 110 G. Gentle giants, will rapidly grow to 1 foot! Can learn to interact with owners! I will be in fish heaven!
Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 5.2 lbs to go!
But many Synodontis cats, do the same. I tried last night to get a good pic of my favorite fish, Tom, another type of syno who also swims upside down sometimes, mostly when he’s eating flakes off the water surface. Very cute! He looks like a vacuum cleaner sweeping the surface.
Yes! Tom most of all is Poetry in motion. Like a graceful dolphin.
Then I recalled your Ranger Beads & began putting a hair tie on my wrist. Works like a charm!
I wanted to ask you, When you got your new-used gym-quality exercise bike, what did you do with the old one?
I can see how they’d help with sets. Easy to lose track of.
Been going heavy on salad lately, from the 3 prepped bags depicted. A massive serving of nearly 4 Cups has ~50 calories. But I made a big mistake with the 5-15 cal per serving dressings. Way too much sodium! my BP is good, but even so all that salt is unhealthy. So I'm experimenting with making my own dressings. Tried malt vinegar and a light oil spray. OK. Then tried Dijon mustard, thinned with water & sweetened with an artificial sweetener. Much better, but then I looked at the sodium content in the mustard: half of the prepared dressings, still too much. So my next attempt will be sweetened lime or lemon juice. Tried hot sauce, too hot!
DD did not allow me to upload images. not all that exciting! Three bags of Walmart generic salad fixings. I think considering the waste and prep time they are a good value.
Really cold & snowing here. We had a few nice days and I opened the Cat Room window to the outside enclosure. Marble, the new cat, stayed inside, but the other 3 eagerly ran out and climbed to their high shelves.
Progress as of today: 10.4 lbs lost so far, only 4.6 lbs to go!
I was worried she’d go out and not come back in. I wouldn’t want to leave the window open all night at this time of the year. This cat is slow to come around, generally hides when I enter the room, but sat not far opposite me the other day. Progress! Infinitesimal, but there.
Probably HoP’s piggies would like this!
Tried making my own variation. Bought powdered chipotle and some in a little jar. Didn’t even know chipotle is a type of chili pepper!
Mixing it with light sour cream. OK, but not as tasty as theirs. Salad dressings are killers when it comes to salt and fat and god knows what.
but I LOVE those veggies!
i sure love my piggies.
Having been outside and almost (?) feral, I'd say it's a good sign that Marble chooses to remain indoors. Maybe it's thinking that being a domesticated cat isn't such a bad life after all.
This is Blue, a male Blue Dragon Peacock cichlid, & a little friend. he's really happy King Fish is gone!
So I made progress but did not finish the taxes. I do not like the way Merrill Lynch does tax documents. Far more complicated than the ones from TD Ameritrade. Think I will transfer the ML account to TD & hope they give me a bonus. I only opened the ML account to get a 1K bonus. when I told the TD guy that, he said he would have given me 1K to stay. I hope that still stands!
The iRS gifed me with a huge envelope of forms! Yuk! Did 2-3 hours yesterday & will resume today. At least the state & local will be simple once the Feds is done.
This is King Fish. He now resides in solitary confinement for his refusal to stop bullying the new little cichlids. HRM is a Red Dragon Peacock cichlid. I put him at the end of a tub seldom used. The other fish are much more active now that he's gone.
Been eating a lot of salad lately. Using the prepared mix of iceberg, red cabbage & carrots, adding a big tomato and lots of low cal dressing. Probably around 50 Cals. Will boil some eggs later for a little staying power. a great addition to my regular diet.
Progress as of today: 11.2 lbs lost so far, only 3.8 lbs to go!
I found some good Skinny Girl salad dressings
Hate doing the taxes!
I haven’t started yet on the taxes. No idea if I’ll owe or get a refund. Usually it’s owe. Sad!
yeah, the fed part is the biggest part to do.
New cat Marble is making friends with Big Flash!
Progress as of today: 26.4 lbs lost so far, only 8.6 lbs to go!
Almost March & all is well!
Progress as of today: 26.4 lbs lost so far, only 8.6 lbs to go!
Progress as of today: 28.4 lbs lost so far, only 1.6 lbs to go!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Progress as of today: 25.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!
Merry Christmas Jacky!!!
In my house, they'd be like "Yuck, she made them with healthy stuff... Almond milk? Protein cookies?"
Another article saying the covid virus targets fat cells. Obesity long known to be #1 risk factor for people <60
Hit lowest weight in many years, 107.8! This not a lifelong low, always 100-105 in late teens & twenties. This weight makes me feel peppy & energetic.
Thw WW scale arrived, but I've been too busy with tank projects to set it up. I watched the nocturnal pink salamanders a few nights on a wildlife cam connected to the iPad and confirmed the male is after the girl constantly and she never gets any rest. She spawns constantly & I'm reading all this can stress a female to death, so I set up a new 20 G tank and seperated her from the male. All this took hours.
Had to return to Walmart for a few forgotten items. So starving that I ate nearly half a container of cherry tomatoes in the car on the way home.
Love articles like this that say best to do as I am doing!

Progress as of today: 26.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!
Wow, congratulations on your new low!!!!! I'm happy for you - happy, proud, impressed! :-)
Thank you for sharing the short article on COVID & obesity. Being obese seems to put a body behind the 8-ball in so many situations :-(
She was out in the open last night. vs cowering in a hide, Yay!
So much of what ails us is lifestyle.
I know fat kids who lost it & are fine. I’m married to one & he is an incredible fitness buff, strenuous cardio & weights.
Your axie caves are sounding creative. i want to see more of your axie pics.
also, please post a pic of your new WW scale...
I cannot believe your stores weren't crowded on black friday. i was not interested in going out on that day.
I want photos of all your new fitness spree/gifts to yourself that you talk about in these entries with your review after you use them!
you know, i hadn't looked at your weight until this entry, wow,you lost a few pounds so quickly. opposite of my style! :) I was just around 100-105 in my teens but then got into disordered eating and screwed up my always being in the 10th percentile 10% for weight as a kid based on my height. starting senior year of high school i think i gained like 10lbs almost. i think i was like 110 at prom, compared to starting the year at like 103. I was maybe even heavier before prom by a couple pounds, not sure. gained my weight thru sweets, cookies, cereals lol. then gained more thru college first two years! then got back on track but lost it too quickly and lost my "TOM" for like 2 years.
it's good you could snack on cherry tomatoes, lol...will read your articles soon. it's good to find support of your lifestyle, agreed.
for what i do, i just know whenver i want to really indulge, to find the veggies, lol. but i also love all my snacky foods. currently i'd say i'm low protein / less protein. such a far cry from my 20's to early 30's when i was heavy on the low carb but also binged a lot on carbs during my heavy years.
Losing a pound a week generally involves eating ~1000 calories a day & burning off half.
How fast did you lose & how thin did you get? I’ve only ever heard of anorexics losing TOM & some elite athletes who maintain weights way below their normal range.
Found axie on Amazon! Where else!
I suspect other factors were in play. I’ve never heard of such extreme reactions as those you describe. And I’ve personally known or known of hundreds & hundreds of people losing weight.
That said, everyone is different & your metabolism may very well require very gradual changes. Doesn’t much matter now. You have mastered the arts of healthy eating & exercise & won’t ever go beyond your current excellent weight. You’ll be like the Blue Zone folks & live a long disease free life. You have found inner strength. Go HoP!
Finally saw a .8 pd weight loss overnight after a full week of strick CR. Ate maybe 750 calories yesteday & burned off at least half.
Excited about the WW scale. It accommodates 4 users. So there will be 4 of me, a 20 yr old, 40, 60 & 80. All bogus. This is to see if they are using algorithms to calculate their metrics. I had a scale that worked that way years ago. One entered age & height and it used those. No idea how this scale works, too busy lately to google.
After we left Walmart, Matt mentioned he saw a Black Friday Charge 4 Fitbit down $99 to 69. Wish he had said so sooner! I have a fkaly Charge 3. I ordered it online & it can be picked up after 11 today.
Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!
Saw the Garmin with the Body Battery. Does it extrapolate energy levels from your sleep numbers & heart rate?
I have an FitBit Alta -- 2, I think? I like it but when it starts to konk out on me, I may switch to Garmin like Husband and Happy. IDK, right now it works so I don't have to think about it.
Let us know about the scale!
Not sure if 4 fakes me’s will become integrated into one real me. Depends on how much hassle to switch users & how my 4 girls are doing. LOL
Isn't it wonderful to have a series that you can just dive into like that? I'm currently rewatching Downton Abbey because it leaves Netflix on May 31st, and I'm not sure where it will land, but it will probably be on a streaming service that I don't have and won't pay for. (We already have enough.)
I'm about to start reading The Silent Patient.
Yes! I am going to see if I can find Abbey. Never saw it. Hear it’s great! I liked that old Poseidon film.
You really must look into a DVR. Matt goes through the TV guide every week & records movies etc. We FF over the ads. Yay!
happy-1 on 05/18/2022:
Tank looks great!
Thanks! Can’t wait to add some goldfish that will get very big in there. Will be getting comets & Shubunkins, a Japanese variation. Usually gold, black & white markings. Shark tails. Gentle peaceful fish.
Donkey on 05/19/2022:
I will not understand - probably EVER - the desire to have a big bubble butt.
horn_of_plenty on 05/19/2022:
i'd never want fat injected into my butt either. i've heard of it, yes. dumb. give me muscle, that'd be cool though.
25% poorer hurts....i am trying to get a 23% raise. it sounds so large, bc i have a somewhat small salary....hopefully it goes thru. it's more on if people are willing to push it thru and agree with it; than a change in my work. it's more to bring me up to a higher pay level in general as i did manage 1.5 years on the lower rung which is a little under rate. so when you equal them out; a year or the raise and the year without that i've been doing, i guess i'll be good ;) ....thinking out loud.
horn_of_plenty on 05/19/2022:
hot fiber one sounds good. i enjoy hot food to warm me out as i'm usually cold.
