HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Progress as of today: 25.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!
Merry Christmas Jacky!!!
In my house, they'd be like "Yuck, she made them with healthy stuff... Almond milk? Protein cookies?"
Another article saying the covid virus targets fat cells. Obesity long known to be #1 risk factor for people <60
Hit lowest weight in many years, 107.8! This not a lifelong low, always 100-105 in late teens & twenties. This weight makes me feel peppy & energetic.
Thw WW scale arrived, but I've been too busy with tank projects to set it up. I watched the nocturnal pink salamanders a few nights on a wildlife cam connected to the iPad and confirmed the male is after the girl constantly and she never gets any rest. She spawns constantly & I'm reading all this can stress a female to death, so I set up a new 20 G tank and seperated her from the male. All this took hours.
Had to return to Walmart for a few forgotten items. So starving that I ate nearly half a container of cherry tomatoes in the car on the way home.
Love articles like this that say best to do as I am doing!

Progress as of today: 26.2 lbs lost so far, only 2.8 lbs to go!
Wow, congratulations on your new low!!!!! I'm happy for you - happy, proud, impressed! :-)
Thank you for sharing the short article on COVID & obesity. Being obese seems to put a body behind the 8-ball in so many situations :-(
She was out in the open last night. vs cowering in a hide, Yay!
So much of what ails us is lifestyle.
I know fat kids who lost it & are fine. I’m married to one & he is an incredible fitness buff, strenuous cardio & weights.
Your axie caves are sounding creative. i want to see more of your axie pics.
also, please post a pic of your new WW scale...
I cannot believe your stores weren't crowded on black friday. i was not interested in going out on that day.
I want photos of all your new fitness spree/gifts to yourself that you talk about in these entries with your review after you use them!
you know, i hadn't looked at your weight until this entry, wow,you lost a few pounds so quickly. opposite of my style! :) I was just around 100-105 in my teens but then got into disordered eating and screwed up my always being in the 10th percentile 10% for weight as a kid based on my height. starting senior year of high school i think i gained like 10lbs almost. i think i was like 110 at prom, compared to starting the year at like 103. I was maybe even heavier before prom by a couple pounds, not sure. gained my weight thru sweets, cookies, cereals lol. then gained more thru college first two years! then got back on track but lost it too quickly and lost my "TOM" for like 2 years.
it's good you could snack on cherry tomatoes, lol...will read your articles soon. it's good to find support of your lifestyle, agreed.
for what i do, i just know whenver i want to really indulge, to find the veggies, lol. but i also love all my snacky foods. currently i'd say i'm low protein / less protein. such a far cry from my 20's to early 30's when i was heavy on the low carb but also binged a lot on carbs during my heavy years.
Losing a pound a week generally involves eating ~1000 calories a day & burning off half.
How fast did you lose & how thin did you get? I’ve only ever heard of anorexics losing TOM & some elite athletes who maintain weights way below their normal range.
Found axie on Amazon! Where else!
I suspect other factors were in play. I’ve never heard of such extreme reactions as those you describe. And I’ve personally known or known of hundreds & hundreds of people losing weight.
That said, everyone is different & your metabolism may very well require very gradual changes. Doesn’t much matter now. You have mastered the arts of healthy eating & exercise & won’t ever go beyond your current excellent weight. You’ll be like the Blue Zone folks & live a long disease free life. You have found inner strength. Go HoP!
Finally saw a .8 pd weight loss overnight after a full week of strick CR. Ate maybe 750 calories yesteday & burned off at least half.
Excited about the WW scale. It accommodates 4 users. So there will be 4 of me, a 20 yr old, 40, 60 & 80. All bogus. This is to see if they are using algorithms to calculate their metrics. I had a scale that worked that way years ago. One entered age & height and it used those. No idea how this scale works, too busy lately to google.
After we left Walmart, Matt mentioned he saw a Black Friday Charge 4 Fitbit down $99 to 69. Wish he had said so sooner! I have a fkaly Charge 3. I ordered it online & it can be picked up after 11 today.
Progress as of today: 26 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!
Saw the Garmin with the Body Battery. Does it extrapolate energy levels from your sleep numbers & heart rate?
I have an FitBit Alta -- 2, I think? I like it but when it starts to konk out on me, I may switch to Garmin like Husband and Happy. IDK, right now it works so I don't have to think about it.
Let us know about the scale!
Not sure if 4 fakes me’s will become integrated into one real me. Depends on how much hassle to switch users & how my 4 girls are doing. LOL
Went to Walmart at 10. No crowd whatsoever! Same as any other Friday. Had to get everything inside. No slots available until late today when I tried to schedule on Tuesday. Then went to Lowe's to buy PCV pipe to make axie caves. Got some small poinsettias for 2 for $3. Not really crowded there, maybe a little more than usual.
No fast food lunch out today. Concerned drive-through lines would be too long, plus I have to atone for that big piece of cake.
Somewhat disappointed that I've been starving myself all week & haven't lost an ounce in 3 days. But haven't gained ether. Ok, so not 100% starving. Broke down during a nocturnal Chicago Med binge & had a big piece of frozen red velvet cake. Vegetables only for dinner, that Normandy Blend. Very few calories in a plateful. Fiber One & coffee with protein mix during the day.
Can't wait to get my WW scale tomorrow! Due from Amazon.
Progress as of today: 25.2 lbs lost so far, only 3.8 lbs to go!
Think my rationale differs from most people concerned about their weight. I am after disease risk reduction & longevity, not looking skinny in jeans. Love those Blue Zone diets! Shocking how much of what ails us is lifestyle.
I can't wait to hear about your new scale either -- a new toy!!
Yep! Excited about getting the scale. An Amazon fulfillment center recently opened in town & sometimes I get stuff overnight, but not this one.
HAPPY! This is the Air Fryer I really love! Sometimes wish I got the red instead of Eggplant
Woke up at 4. Tried falling back asleep for nearly an hour, but couldn't. So turned on light and am on the iPad. Matt should be up soon & then I'll grab some coffee and hop on the bike. Failed to pass 20k Fitbit steps yesterday. Wanted 30K, but too many things to do.
Nothing special for Thanksgiving here. Family & friends far away. Will air fry a steak for Mark & bake him a potatoe in the microwave. Will stir fry my beloved Normandy Blend vegetables & eat only that for dinner. Don't like beef much & only really like the air fried potatoe wedges.
Can't wait to get the new WW scale! and look into all the fancy things it claims to do. Should arrive Friday.
Progress as of today: 25.2 lbs lost so far, only 3.8 lbs to go!
Matt is up, I’m on the bike reading the newspapers.
We need to stabilize a tank base with 2x4’s. Not sure if there’s enough around & fairly certain Lowe’s is closed. Probably everything is but restaurants.
It will be interesting to see how crowded Walmart is tomorrow around 8 or 9. They open at 5 & people line up in advance for bargains, so it may be ok by then. If not, we’ll leave. Hate crowds, long before covid.
We're having beef for our dinner too. Just not really big on turkey. I like cold turkey sandwiches, but they aren't a favorite. I didn't want to deal with days on end of leftover turkey.
I have a fancy scale - "Ironman" brand - but it weighs me about a pound heavier than my original scale, so I don't use it. Husband does though, so it's not a waste.
I have 2 Air Fryers. A $60 Bella one from Ollie’s & a bigger one with shelves from eBay. Believe it cost less. Love it! And it’s purple! Came in many colors. Refurbished. But looks 100% new, all original packaging etc,
I’ve seen the same PowerXL (eBay) at Walmart for. $129. Gonna check for you now & see if I can find that eBay seller .
I like the eggplant AF!
also, i can't wait to hear more about your new WW scale. i see you posted a bit about it down there below. i have a glass scale too, but it's not WW and it's basic, but it workss!
Looking now at the Ironman scale Donkey has. Pricey. See pic at top.
Donk, which one do you have ?
Sounds like you have a very excellent scale there! The WW does fat too. But I know nothing of the accuracy
Hope that helps!
So now Matt is saying the WW scale in the gym is the best one & he only uses the Heath O Meter to weigh the dogs. LOL. Will check Amazon & Walmart for it.
Undermined all yesterday's steps by eating too many shortbread cookies around 1 AM when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep for hours. My bad! But only up .2 pd. Was reading about the Fitbit Aria scale I have at the Fitbit Community. Endless reports of it's unreliability, weights popping up & down inexplicably, in what sounded like reasonable ranges for individuals who are not over weight. Oddly, everyone blamed the scale & not fluid retention etc. Matt says his scale, a Health-O-Meter digital scale is highly reliable & I will probably buy another for my bathroom.
The Bluetooth link from the Fitbit scale failed months ago, so it no longer goes to the iPad app. I'm back to my old ways of recording my daily weight on a large 1 year laminated calendar taped to the bathroom door. primitive as it may be, I greatly prefer it to the app. At a glance, I can see where I was 3 years back on a given day, not to mention yesterday or last week. I use wet erase markers.
Estimating I ate 1500 Cals yesterday & burned about half. Going to look into an activity tracker that does cycling. May be interesting.
Progress as of today: 25.2 lbs lost so far, only 3.8 lbs to go!
See that Amazon & Walmart have the digital Heath O Meter that Matt likes for ~ $20. The same company also makes triple beam balances. Hmmm….
Done for the day! Hope my toes don't fall off!
Racking up the steps today! Focusing on peddling/walking faster. & spending less time at the fish forum. Typing slows down my pace.
Snacks for later inspired by Bear. Not sure of Cals, has to be very low. Matt has exactly the same boring lunch everyday, except when we do fast food drive thru on weekends. He always has 1 slice of cheddar, 1 slice of deli meat & cherry or grape tomatoes. Last week he inadvertently bought 2 bags of tomatoes.
Went down a full pound overnight, but it's only a mirage. No way a diet reboot creates a 3500 calorie deficit that fast. The rapid weight loss always happens with me early on & I'm actually better hydrated because I drink more liquids when not eating food during the day. But has to be some fluid related thing.
Had 300 Cals during the day & ~700 during my nocturnal TV binge: two grilled cheese sandwiches (air fryer) and 4 rice cakes with sugar free blackberry jam. I never did get a handle on how many calories 20K Fitbit steps burn. Every calorie display I have is bogus, except the treadmill. A mile is 100 burned Cals, higher at an incline. Best guess is I burned 500 yesterday.
Ran out of low cal bread & was surprised to see Walmart is closed Thursday. In the past, they closed only for Christmas. The morning pickup slots were filled for Friday. Plan is to get up & walk in early, no pickup. hope it's not super crowded! will leave if it's bad.
Progress as of today: 25.4 lbs lost so far, only 3.6 lbs to go!
Someone told me about how ppl take meat on sale from other carts at this big place downtown that has good prices. We only went there once, the drive is too far.
nice to see walmart workers have thanksgiving off :)
Yep, Target is closed too.
Did it! 20K. my toes are sore!
At 18 K Fitbit steps! Most from bike. determined to hit 20K, hopefully more. 300 Cals so far, Fiber One & picking at Matt's air fried frozen battered fish & potato wedges, also cooked in air fryer. Both 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Easy!
BEAR! Since Maria is getting the big ear muffs, would you like Santa to send you this?
Healthy eating to resume today! Starting with a cup of Fiber One when I get hungry. So far coffee & a dollop of chocolate protein drink only.
Challenging myself to hit my college & 20s weight of 105 by 1/1/22. Matt has never gone over his college weight. In fact, for inexplicable reasons he lost 5% of his weight last year. The internet says an unintentional weight loss of 5% or more may mean cancer. The CT etc showed no abnormalities & he gradually regained the weight. very strange! docs had nothing to say.
Progress as of today: 24.4 lbs lost so far, only 4.6 lbs to go!
Pulling for Spring!
Yay! Spring & daffodils & the dog poops won’t flash freeze on the deck!
