(Eat less, move more. CR)
Weight: 124.2

looks like I won't reach my goal of 115 by 1/1/21.  Actually going for 110. Hopefully by Spring 2021.

Bear, here's another way I add caramel and other flavors to my coffee. Amazon Prime has good prices.  Some restaurant supply place has better ones,  but they require bulk purchases.

Plan today is to get to the post office and mail off our ballots.   Would go to the courthouse, but it's raining and a long haul.   PO is next to Tim Hortons.   uh oh.   I can hear the donuts calling.

knee doing much better.   On recumbent bike now, will try downstairs treadmill later.   it's broken and can't do an incline, or just barely.   The husband has a fancy one in the gazebo, but that's where I reinjured the knee, so avoiding that thing.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 14.2 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 10/19/2020:
Doughnuts have been calling me too lately....but too lazy to make them...LOL...so that's probably a good thing.....but when you get right down to it...there really isn't much difference between a doughnut, pancakes, waffles, pop tarts, cookies, cake etc...even sweetened cereal...sometimes you just need to get it over with!

Jacky82020 on 10/19/2020:
Yep, calling me too. Bought a cruller. They call them French donuts out west. Quit making cinnamon buns because you can’t make a few, you have to make a huge tray. I would eat them morning, noon and nights. All that butter and sugar. Yum yum!

grannyannie on 10/19/2020:
Oh no! Doughnuts! Love 'em.

Good for you getting your ballots posted.

Jacky82020 on 10/19/2020:
The county was late sending them. I called and they said they had over 30,000 requests this time, way way more than ever before. She also said if it didn’t come soon to go there and she’d give me one. All the way downtown where you go for jury duty. Would have been a dreadful trip, full of possible covid exposures. That place is Always packed.

bearcountrygg on 10/19/2020:
I have tried them...very good...I'm working on a bottle of Skinny Syrups mocha right now...and not a huge fan...I do like the torani much better...never tried the da Vinci

Jacky82020 on 10/19/2020:
Can’t tell the difference between DaVinci and Torani. I add them to protein drinks too. They both say zero calories.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/19/2020:
i hope you have a WONDERFUL day and continue to feel better. good luck dropping off your ballots.

i find that amazon is a real price savings place...i find it has better prices for things that are in drugstores as well as some other things, like petfood.

Jacky82020 on 10/19/2020:
Love Amazon. Have the Chase CC that gives 5% off on all purchases. It requires Prime. They have some good streaming & the quick shipping is nice

grannyannie on 10/20/2020:
We have Prime. Had to get it years ago because it was the only way to watch Outlander here, but we love the fast shipping! Between Prime and Netflix always a lot of choices on tv.

Jacky82020 on 10/20/2020:
They do! I also get HULU. You can buy a shared account on eBay for $5. Good for a year, commercial free too. That’s how I do my ER binges. Hope Prime doesn’t raise the fee again. I remember when it was $79 a year.

grannyannie on 10/20/2020:
Can't get Hulu over here although I suppose there is a way since we get CNN, MSNBC, PBS etc etc.

Jacky82020 - Sunday Oct 18, 2020
(Eat less, move more. CR)
Weight: 124.2

Here is my wonderful 1950s kitchen.  The metal trim looks terrific.  The pink back splashes are working for me. think I mentioned I painted the fridge & diswasher to match the stove.

So MacDonald's didn't have any of the new breakfast pastries. Had a 2 for 1 bacon, cheese, & egg coupon, so got that.   I am so cheap that I bring my own beverage to drive thru.    Diet ginger ale this time.   took two Alli  before leaving home.  Don't take it often. Eliminates ~25% of fat, so I saved 8 grams or 72 Cals on the McGriddle.

My cop nephew in SF has tested positive, but he's totally asymptomatic,  young and fit.  He's home rebuilding a car engine or whatever.  He wanted to be a firefighter but that job is fiercely competitive in California.   He searched all over the state, even visiting us with his buddy in Southern California.  Nothing to be had, so he joined the PD.   He's making $163K with overtime.   I was shocked to see his pay level. It's all public info and I stumbled upon it when searching for a second cousin I heard was incarcerated.  Anyways, it's amazing what those cops make, at least in California.   Tommy is a nice guy and I'm sure he's a terrific cop.

Stuck in the 124's now, would love to see the 123's soon.

Going out to McDonalds.  Haven't done drive thru fast food for maybe a month.   Drooling over ads for their new cinnamon roll, but saw it's 560 calories.   The egg, bacon and cheese McGriddle is about the same. Damn!   so if would be over 1,000 Cals.   Plan is to split the cinnamon roll with the husband,  if he doesn't like the idea, he can order two and eat 1.5.   he's total muscle and what with all the weight lifting and aerobics can eat lots and not gain.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 14.2 lbs to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/18/2020:
and maybe get a coffee too at mcdonalds to fill you up after the 1/2 cinnamon bun! i used to have a male friend in my life with whom i'd also split all my treats with...ohh, it worked out so well all those times!!!! now that's over (thankfully, actually!)...not thankful for not splitting treats, but that i can move on with my life..

enjoy your treat.

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
They do have good coffee, Heard about a taste test where they beat out Starbucks, but I was all coffeed out by the time I get there.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/18/2020:
great deals and finds on your exercise equipment in your gym!

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Yeah, it all worked out well. That Paramount system was hauled up and down the state of California and then to the East Coast.

Donkey on 10/18/2020:
I'll comment here on your pictures of your basement gym. WOW! That is really nice to have all of that equipment! I saw the rowing machine and I was like, WHOA.... But there's also a lot of wonderful weight training stuff too!

I had a home gym apparatus that we sold a couple of years ago. We had it in our old house that had a full basement. This house has a smaller basement, which is used for other things, so the apparatus was left in the garage, unassembled. I sold it very cheaply to a guy who was doing to HIS basement what you guys did to yours. This was way before COVID. So you know HE was prepared when everything shut down. I imagine that his home gym saved his sanity, because he said he really LOVED to work out.

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Thanks. The basement was finished when we moved in, has a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom besides the big central area. The previous owner & his teens used it as a rec room. We bought this house in part because of that space. It has a door that opens to the fenced in yard so the dogs can run in and visit their Dad when he’s working out and they’re out doing their doggie business.

Donkey on 10/18/2020:
Splitting treats is an excellent way to do damage control :-)

grannyannie on 10/18/2020:
I love your gym! And I would love a cinnamon roll!

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Thanks, Annie, the roll had to wait. They didn’t have any. I know how to make the best ones ever, but too much fat and sugar for us now.

bearcountrygg on 10/18/2020:
We haven't eaten out since February before the the pandemic......in fact we haven't even bought deli food at the grocery store.......

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Probably wise. All we’ve done is drive-thru and eating in the car. Never was big on restaurants any time, any place. Not big on deli food. Too much salt & fat.

bearcountrygg on 10/18/2020:
Your kitchen reminds me of my childhood.

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Love the fifties cars and kitchens. Drove a 1956 Chevy when we lived in California. Husband had a 1950 truck. My car went to Sweden and someone bought his truck and turned it into a mobile pizza truck. He had this big wood oven on it and catered parties. My husband thought the guy was nuts when he explained why he wanted the truck, but we’ve since heard other ppl do the same thing. It was a beautiful red truck. My Chevy was black with flames.

Maria7 on 10/18/2020:
Oh, My!!!! What a very BEAUTIFUL kitchen! You must feel cheered up every time you go into that gorgeous, nostalgic kitchen! The stove is so pretty and the colors are the 1950s for real! Did you do the pretty paintings of the cat and the other picture hanging on the wall above the stove? Your lovely rug in front of your sink matches well with everything. Have a good day!

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Thanks, Maria! I found the Cat pics on Etsy. They are prints made by a guy and his wife in Pittsburgh. I am seriously thinking of painting some of my own on canvas. They look simple enough. Yes!!!!! The colors are cheerful! Such a change from the old gothic Victorian style I did in the previous home. You have a great day too!

grannyannie on 10/18/2020:
Love your kitchen!!

bearcountrygg on 10/18/2020:
I was born in 1949....so your kitchen is a good representation of that time. I remember our living room being all red and green...with curtains with HUGE red flowers on them......Looked like Christmas year around..LOL Loved the cars with fins and hood ornaments, 2 tone colors and leather seats....my Dad worked for Pontiac Motors...so we were a CAR FAMILY!!! Those were the good old days!!!

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Loved those cars! My 56 Chevy was originally 2 toned, white over red. Damn state of Pennsylvania wouldn’t allow me to register it as a Classic Vehicle because I painted it. I ask you, what is more classic than a black Chevy with flames? I want those drapes!

Donkey on 10/18/2020:
Love the cabinets! They remind me of the kitchen we had when I was growing up. I think they were yellow, like you have, and light green. I can't remember if there was pink in the mix too.

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
I was lazy and left the frames white and only painted the doors. But I have seen old kitchens with the same treatment. Maybe they were lazy too!

I really like your gym! it must be weird tho to sweat on carpet!? at first, the carpet looked like wood paneling!

also, those are interesting colors on the weight machines. where'd you get the equipment? did you say a gym closed and you got it? i've never seen mustard yellow and brown colors on weight equipment pads (i'mm used to seeing black only!)

also, that's a nice rower! my dad got a rower...i'm not sure how often he uses it, but, it's a CRAZY hard workout!

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
No sweat gets on the carpet. My husband wipes down with towels. Yuk. I get grossed out accidentally touching one. Especially if it’s hot and sticky.

Sadly I don’t work hard enough to sweat much at all. Maybe some underarm moisture, not a lot.

The equipment came from various places over the years. A few pieces were from closed down gyms,

The main multi station unit was made by Paramount, huge company at the time, I bought it when I sold my first Harlequin romance novel. They gave me a 6K advance,.

I got that rowing machine used from a private party for a hundred dollars.

grannyannie on 10/18/2020:
I would love a big gym like that!

Jacky82020 on 10/18/2020:
Yeah, it’s pretty nice. Takes up a lot of space. We built a 20x20 addition to the house in Southern California to accommodate it. What an ordeal! I acted as the GC and hired the subs, even drew up the architectural plans. The guys at the county permit office were extremely helpful and corrected all my errors. Then they jacked our property taxes way up, so I had to fight city hall on that. They compromised. Makes me understand why people do it without permits. You had to call the permit ppl in at every step of construction. Pain in the butt! But well worth it.

Trying new posts, not edits because I keep losing everything

Donkey on 10/18/2020:
Frustrating, but your pictures are coming through on the individual entries. I'm wondering if I should type DROOL on every picture of the rowing machine, lol ;-)

The weight machine you have in this picture is a very nice apparatus to have in a home gym. I can see that it's commercial quality.

Starving!   trying to compensate for inactivity.   Maybe 300 Cals so far. Can't wait until 8 or 9 when I'll eat more.   the multigrain English muffins topped with hot mustard and blue cheese, followed by mocha latte cereal.

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
So this is the downstairs gym. Needed a wide angle lens which I have but was too lazy to whip it out. These were taken with the iPad which doesn’t even have a flash.

grannyannie on 10/17/2020:
Nice gym!

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
Yeah, too bad I don’t take advantage of it. I have off and on over the years, but more off lately. Must find my way back!

Rowing Machine = DROOL

Weight: 124.2

This is a better pic.  Weight slowly ticking down.   totally unrealistic of me to think I could hit 120 by the end of the month.   But for sure by end of the following month. I think that's a modest goal. Not sure about 115 by 1/1/21, but soon thereafter.  No quitting this time!    Knee is on the mend, acute pain gone, deep ache lingers, Going to try the NuStep.   Saw it in on some TV show where they exercised and properly feed some overweight person with miraculous results. They showed the efforts from 6-12 months as I recall. Anyways I had to have the machine.   Cost $4,000 plus shipping which was high. Never liked it!  Typically used in Physical Therapy facilities for rehab etc.  Depressing to even look at!   Knowing someday I'll be old and feeble and need it.   one can get a good full body workout, or do light exercise. All in all an interesting machine, but regret the purchase. I'll try to take a pic.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 14.2 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 10/17/2020:
No need to push it. You do so much muscle work that the scale will reflect that since muscle weighs more than fat.

You don't necessarily get feeble or frail when you are old. I've known very fit people in their 90's.

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
Great to hear! I wanna be one of those! My legs are rock hard from all the hours everyday on the recumbent bike. I use a high tension. This NuSrep does work the arms, but I found it difficult to concentrate on reading while moving the legs and arms. Probably I couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

bearcountrygg on 10/17/2020:
We too have had some exercise equipment that just wasn't useful to us...and boy that stuff can be hard to give away...LOL.......our kids always seemed to want our exercise bikes..>LOL...so we have been through 3 or 4 of them....but some other things were impossible to get rid of.....some things I need a step stool to get on...now I do not care much for that.

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
I would have sold the NuSfep if possible, but figured I couldn’t even get half what I paid, so kept it. I’m surprised you’d have trouble giving anything away on something like Craig’s. There’s always ppl looking to get stuff free to resell or even scrap.

bearcountrygg on 10/17/2020:
There had been warnings about Craigs list at the time and apparently there were people that were using Craigs list to plan break in's so we just ended up putting the things out on garbage day because there were people that came around looking for metal ( our house couldn't be seen from the road there.....hopefully someone did take them)...we never knew. I had something that also had the arm exerciser built in and that was one of the things that we put out. You could always listen to audio books......I like to watch youtube videos while exercising.

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
There are some real flaky goings on at Craig’s list. Many honest listings too. We found our beautiful pug/fFrenchie mix there. I would rather haul something to the dumps or donate to the Goodwill than have ppl coming here. Our old house had a once a year free pickup of all you could haul to the curb. People circled the neighborhood like vultures and took almost everything the nite before. One guy had the audacity to bang on my door and ask if we still had the mirror that went with this junky old vanity. And my husband, Mr. Nice Guy, went up to the attic and found it for him. Lol.

Donkey on 10/17/2020:
My gym has either this or something very similar to this. I think the brand is Octane, but it's the same movement mechanism. I have never tried it.

There are quite a few cardio machines at the gym that I haven't tried, but I know what I like so that's what I do. Is that wrong, do you think?

Please do be careful with the knee, even if you're feeling better. Perhaps one more day of rest and ice?

Love the crocheted afghan in the picture!

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
Think you hit the nail on the head, Donkey, it is different from what I’ve ever done. Another day of rest sounds great!!! Thanks, had that old afghan for years. Think it came from an estate auction.

grannyannie on 10/17/2020:
I had a routine at my gym of resistance machines, treadmill or spin bike, elliptical, rowing machine then recumbent bike for last.

Yes, Jacky, be very careful with your knee!

My husband is nearly 72 and very fit. He goes for a 15 mile bike ride (outside) every morning at 7am no matter what the weather.

Jacky82020 on 10/17/2020:
Great balls of Fire! How can he do that in the snow? My husband did all his running outside when we lived in California, but now it’s all treadmill and elliptical for him & the spinner.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/17/2020:
I'm really liking the look and mobility of this "nu step!"

it looks very comfortable.
