Hello, Girls!

I've fallen deeper into flu... GRRR... I didn't go to badminton last night (SNIFF) and Joana is going to give it up temporarily. So I really need to get the courage to go home at night alone with underground or train.

Today I had a very good (yet over crowded) Pilates class, and then... BODY PUMP (Les Mills, again). New experience, and I loved it. LOL, of course. The music is soooo hard, the exercises are with weights and I got exhausted. Then I walked around with my man, we had some talking about Life, Universe and Everything. We reached the same conclusion as Douglas Adams, that the solution was 42. Now we need to find the question itself. I was listening to my old mp3 today and I had the track "Stand By Your Man" on it. It was so cool to hear it. I love the part: "after all, he's just a man..." LOL.

Foods, I'm not having the calories under control yet. I've eaten too much today (good foods at least), again, but never mind, I still feel great. It must be the flu. No contribution to weight loss, on the other hand I contributed to my body health improvement with the exercises... Going to get better and going to get the calorie intake under control again. Tomorrow is an other day.

Tomorrow we're going to a family picnic (excursion) so I won't be around. I post pics later! :)

Progress as of today: 142.1 lbs lost so far, only 39.1 lbs to go!

moogy on 03/12/2011:
I am amazed that you are feeling so sick and still managing to get plenty of exercise in - good for you!

Runforfun on 03/12/2011:
I love body pump! Makes weight lifting fun! Do you go to it at the ymca? Have fun at your family picnic!

Good morning, Girls!

Yesterday ended up in overeating, but I felt great. I think the body, when recovering from an illness, cannot have lack of energy. I ate only healthy things, but exceeded my calorie limits (1400-1600) with at least 500 kcals or more I'm afraid. But, I feel great today, I've been to tennis (ended up in gym bc it started raining half-way: 30min Cross Training, 10min step, then 1 hr BodyBalance).

I'm worried because my man is very down. Work issues, still. Now he screwed up the job interview here at my workplace, big time, he said negative things and he hadn't been selected for the job. He feels bad now, I feel sorry for him because he's too hard on himself. It's been 7 years since he has this job (where he doesn't receive a paycheck at the moment) and an interview is not an easy thing to handle after all these years without practicing. We live, we learn...
He's going to get a second opportunity, though. I have to support him and have to keep my head held high because I'm in a strange situation in front of my bosses, because of his failure on the interview, too. I had to respond the vice directors' question "What do you want us to do?" and my response had to be "Please, give him a second chance." ... OMG, if it'd be one of those dream jobs, I'd understand, but this is so small-scale... we are so small, really. I'm disappointed. I think if I wouldn't have my Body Balance classes and my other sport activities to keep my body up, both my body and my mind would have gone very low down by now.

Sport keeps me sane and healthy in these difficult times.

 Today's menu:

06H00 - two slices of rye bread w/ LF soy margarine and a cup of milk w/ LF cocoa powder, a soy yogurt (500 kcal)

I am sorry you are having a tough time :( I am hoping that your day will get better!!

panda22 on 03/11/2011:
Sorry to hear about your man's interview, but glad they are giving him a second chance and hope he uses it to make it the best interview he possibly can! Glad you are feeling better, have a good day and enjoy your weekend!

Umpqua on 03/11/2011:
Sorry to hear you're having tough times there. I understand the financial part, we have an empty apartment that we have to get straightened out before we can get tenants and a rental income. As for the food, yours don't sound bad either! I think for both of us our bodies may need more to cope with sickness. My biggest problem is if I feel like I'm eating out of control, and I recognized that happening yesterday and don't want to let it happen again. Have a good one :)

loveray on 03/11/2011:
glad you are feeling a bit better and hope your man gets back into better spirits soon. have a great weekend! xo

geevee on 03/11/2011:
I agree. There's nothing better than exercise to work out stress.

selina on 03/11/2011:
So sorry to hear about your man, tough times.... I hope things will improve soon.

Japan is usually prepared for events of this sort - during our stay in Tokyo, we had drills on a regular basis, however when the real thing hits it's really scary and disconcerting... I feel so sorry for those who had to experience this horrible tragedy first hand.

chidogs on 03/11/2011:
I am sending my thoughts to you for your Man to have a successful second interview. I know how stressful this sort of thing can be. My hubs was out of work for several years some time ago, and it was very scary. I was a stay at home Mom then, but I had to go back to work too, which really upset me. I'd only been home 3 years with my little one. Take care, good luck, and Hugs!

liza36 on 03/11/2011:
I'm sorry to hear of the troubles, and how the interview went. Hopefully he can do better the second time, and I'm sure you are grateful there is even a second chance. Hope you feel in better spirits.

moogy on 03/11/2011:
Men are so wrapped up in their jobs, it is how they define themselves. I can understand his frustration and worry but not his petulance. Just remember that you are his girlfriend and not his mother Kathy. I am so glad that you are feeling better and were able to really enjoy your activities. I hope things go better for his second interview!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 03/12/2011:
sometimes after overcoming being sick, the body has an increase in appetite - mine usually does from what i recall.

also, even if you ate 2100-2200 calories, that is not terrible and you will NOT gain weight from it. so have a good day and don't worry!

Good morning, Girls!

I've been to the hospital already. Diagnose: cifose (Kyphosis, hunchback). I'm going to do X-Rays again, and then get back to the Doctor to see what can we do... Let's hope the best.

I'm hoping for the best too, that you can be treated for your diagnosis.

I've been wondering about your veggie soup. Is it one you make at home? What is your recipe? It seems to be a big staple in your diet so it must be good!

liza36 on 03/10/2011:
Thanks for the recipe. I'll have to try it.

Umpqua on 03/10/2011:
I hope they can come up with a treatment for you and that you feel better soon. Take care Kat!

Goodie morning, Ladies.

I'm down with a cold... but who cares, SWEETPEA HAS THE BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYY and this is best news ever! :-D Our DD baby!!! Now, Panda... it's your turn, hihi.

I couldn't make it to the sporting complex today morning. I was kinda knocked out after a not so calm night and with fever so I opted for the bed. Too bad, I love Body Balance but I wouldn't be able to handle it, bending up and down and concentrating on my breathing with a stuck nose and heavy head. And of course, as always, I'm half deaf... LOL, pathetic. Tonight I'm going to play badminton!!! OH, YEAH.

Today's menu:

08H30 - milk shake (LF milk, sour cherries and a pear) 300 kcal

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup, sardines in tomato (a tin), an apple w/ LF yogurt and LF milk w/coffee (650 kcal)

Problem is, these aren't based on what I am eating so much as the symptom of gastritis. I have gastritis and if I don't eat what I am supposed to or do what I am not supposed to, I wind up in pain after a few days. :(

Better to take a couple of days off and clear yourself of your cold. Then you can get back to your sports with a healthy body. Get well soon:)

Good morning Ladies :-)

Today is Carnival. Raining, cold. BRRRRRRRR... how bad. And International Women's Day today, therefore it's our day - but who cares, we have all the days of the year, right!? WE ARE WINNERS!

Yesterday's work party was a bit weird. I had the worst soup ever at the restaurant (dishwashing water-like liquid with some lonely leaves of spinach swimming on top, I left it on the plate along with a verbal note of disapproval) and a strong coffee, the others ordered hamburgers or beefsteaks and the doses were too small. One of my colleagues, who was wearing a caveman costume, actually asked the waiter when he brought the dessert menu to the table, if there were any desserts with MEAT. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!! You should have seen the dude's face. He took it as a joke of course, and it wasn't one - my c. was talking seriously. Poor guy looked so hungry. BTW you know the guy, it's the one who came with me and my man to Hungary. I posted photos of him before.

Today's menu:

08H00 - tea w/ 2 cookies (50 kcal)

10H30 - milk shake (150 kcal)

13H30 - bean soup (200 kcal), a soy yogurt (100 kcal), LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal) an orange (50 kcal)

20H00 - chicken in the oven (600 kcal)

Grand total: 1200 kcal

OK so everything went well until 19h00 because I arrived home so upset (work-related as I couldn't resolve the programming puzzle I was given by a client today and it keeps haunting me, both puzzle and client, LOL, and of course, personal-related as man didn't remember it was Women's Day ... grr..) and so sick I turned into food. Literally. Now I'm calm, but I had like 2000 kcals today so no contributions were made to weight loss today. On the contrary... Well, it was a holiday after all. And I continue sick! :-((( Hopefully only a cold but I don't like it. I took meds to chase it away (probably this caused the exceptional hunger, too... and I'm still expecting TOM, but no signs besides hunger which can be emotional anyway...)

HIP--HIP--HOOORRAY FOR SWEETPEA, my thoughts are with her!

Progress as of today: 142.1 lbs lost so far, only 39.1 lbs to go!

It's disappointing to go out to eat, and have a horrible meal. At least there's no overeating, right? Have a good day!

selina on 03/08/2011:
Nothing like tits for beads in Portugal, huh? Well, I think that's only in New Orleans... In Brazil they show their tits for no reason, nothing in exchange, just because they feel like it, haha.

That dinner of yours sounds just terrible, yuck!

selina on 03/08/2011:
Cute cat costume bellow. I love that facial expression of yours, hihi!

V on 03/08/2011:

Rush, rush, rush... I'm moving from one office to an other (I'll have a desk next to a huge window with a view and more privacy and silence, YAYYYYY...) and I was busy bee all morning.

I hope you Ladies are well!  We're doing OK, had a nice weekend. I slightly overate yesterday with soup and healthy stuff. I don't regret any of it. I didn't count nor list the foods and calories, but let's say around 1800-1900. No contribution to weight loss.

Tomorrow is a national holiday (Carnaval) but I'm coming to work in the afternoon as I scheduled a conference call with Englishwomen, forgetting completely about the holiday... silly me.

We saw the Rango movie at the cinema yesterday, it was GREAT. My advice for everyone is to see it.

Haven't got to tennis today (due to rainy weather), but I had a great HidroCycle class and a great BodyBalance. No badminton today, I'm skipping it for dinner with colleagues. Wish I could go to both places but I can't and I don't want to look antisocial

I hope you have a nice dinner with your colleagues!

geevee on 03/07/2011:
You sure look nice and slim! I'm so glad the jeans fit. I was worried about them being long enough. I never wore that pair because I would have had to shorten them. Meanwhile, I lost some weight and they no longer fit. In the end, it worked out for the best.

When you get down to a size 10, I have a practically new pair of $$$$ jeans that have a line of rhinestones down the outer seams. NOT tacky at all! That's something to loook forward to, skinny!

Good morning, girlios!

I'm not that broken today, after the 2nd RPM class. The first one hit really hard on my muscles, LOL... I'm still considering attending the Saturday class regularily or not. My problem is: PowerDeep and RPM start at 11h30 both. And my regular schedule was: 9h30 Pilates, 11h30 PowerDeep, between them: swimming. Now I'd need to change this to: 9h30 Pilates, 10h30 HidroDeep, 11h30 RPM. The problem is the difference between PowerDeep and HidroDeep. HD is level 3 aquafitness, PD is level 4. And level 3 is attended regularily by, well, like 10-15 women... while level 4 has the shy number of 4 members, including me. And I like this! I hate crowded aquafitness because the body's inertia is huge and I hate shocking with others while doing the exercises... And then, the prof has more attention to me as an individual, and swimming in between has really good to me, too... and I  still have the following issue: Pilates ends at 10h30 punctual, exactly when HD begins, and I hate to arrive late to anywhere, especially if it's a class... So... I think I skip RPM, even if it's doing good to my legs. Geez, I have Terminator legs already...

TOM's soon to be arrive...

My mother told me today that the Hungarian prime minister wants to create two new forms of tax, namely "hamburger tax" - increase of taxes for foods that are not considered healthy; and "obesity tax" for people who are obese because they need more medical attention and most probably use social security services more than a normal weight fellow.
Outrageous... can't find the words to describe my feelings.

Today's menu:

08H00 - pear milk shake with Nestlé Fitness cereals (350 kcal)

Progress as of today: 142.1 lbs lost so far, only 39.1 lbs to go!

Hello, Girlies!

I'm late today, I know. I had a nice morning with Pilates, HidroDeep and RPM classes. I got home exhausted, LOL... man didn't go to town today, so I came home from the sport complex and we spent the afternoon together watching TV (and I felt asleep on the sofa on his lap, how unexpected, LOL)... we're waiting for the call about the grand-grandmother of his. He visited her yesterday, and she looked like a mummy. Poor thing refuses to eat, she's ready to go but her body just doesn't let her soul fly away. She has 103 years, so everyone's calm and ready in mind. There should be a sad but calm funeral when she's left.

Meanwhile family decided not to cancel the movie tomorrow, we're going to see Rango at 3 PM. Will be so much fun!!

Today's menu:

08H00 - soy yogurt w/ 5 prunes and Nestlé fitness cereals (400 kcal)

13H00 - a pear (100 kcal)

14H00 - veggie soup, LF milk w/ coffee (350 kcal)

17H00 - home made, sugar-free milk shake (LF milk + banana + mango) 200 kcal

18H00 - a bifidus vanille flavour yogurt (120 kcal)

20H00 - veggie soup (300 kcal) + veg. stew w/ whole rice (300 kcal)

Hello, girlies!!!!

We had a relaxing walk yesterday evening, me and my man. We met after leaving our works, I bought a whole grilled chicken in two and a CocaCola Zero, and we walked 40 minutes up to the city center. We arrived to a park, with a beautiful view on the castle and a chilly wind, shared the grilled chicken and the coke... We had a romantic dinner in the moon(and city-)lights, fresh air, hearty talking - for less than 5 euros. We really need to do this more frequently.

Today I had tennis with a different coach. She was the one who should have come on Wednesday, not the guy. The guy is now taking the following week off, because he has to visit his mother who lives out of town. Now she was telling me today that the Wed class was completely forgotten by her, and she wanted to schedule a compensation. How nice of her. She beats the ball so hard I have the racket almost flying out of my hands on impact... but I'm no sissy so I responded well. HEHEHE... Then I creeped and crawled to BodyBalance... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. How could I live without it ?

Today's menu:

06H30 - soy yogurt, a pear (200 kcal)

Body Balance is a class created by Les Mills that combines exercises from Pilates, yoga, and tai chi, creating a 55-minute workout to center the body while lengthening and strengthening the muscles. Each BodyBalance class is formatted to include 55 minutes of exercise. The class begins with a tai chi warm-up of flowing moves. Next, is a series of yoga movements including; sun salutations, to warm up the body, followed by standing stretches, balances and hip openers. Once that segment is complete, you will move to the floor for core work, twists and bends. The class then ends with meditation and observation of the effects of the class on the body and mental state. Body Balance classes aim to improve cardiovascular fitness, reduce stress levels and improve flexibility. The company claims that people attending classes experienced reduced stress levels and an overall sense of calm and well-being. http://www.livestrong.com/article/39660-body-balance-class/

I have a question, you keep praising BodyBalance but I can't figure out exactly what it involves. Is it weight training or everything is worked out?

Have a great day!

thisisit on 03/04/2011:
Wow that sounds incredible. I do yoga but not pilates. i gotta get into doing pilates too. I have a tire around my middle that I want to get rid of.

That sounds like a great thing to do! I think your chicken and coke zero picnic sounds just fantastic! In a park overlooking a castle. Wow. Nothing like that around here, :). Take care.

Good morning, Ladies!

I hope you're having a good day! I had an excellent badminton training yesterday evening. Huge humiliation b/c we were few attending the training (major derbi was going on between two leading football clubs of Lisbon, LOL) and I was put playing with and against senior players... At a point my partner in a pair game shouted at me: "Katalin, come on, you are in the game!!" ... LOL... couldn't help it, it looked like an accelerated movie to me, a time warp or something... I was like, standing there with the racket in my hand with the well-known facial expression "WTF....???!!!" :-)))

I got home very late because I had to catch a lift from the elderly again. They take AGES to have a shower and we had to pick up the wife of Master Yoda, again with a huge painting to add up some time fixing it into the car... LOL but it's always fun to travel with them, old pops. I love them, really.

What I didn't like is my attitude this morning, my body promptly refused to get out of the bed in time for tennis... to compensate the bad feeling, it was great to wake up with my man. I like to share hugs and kisses while half asleep. It's so romantic. Then of course we had big fights over the bathroom and over the upcoming Sunday cinema. I want to see Rango, and I invited family (BEFORE getting known of his ZERO salary situation) and he was telling me I wasn't thinking, etc. etc... GRRR...

Unfortunately the fortune haven't changed for us yet. My man's grand-grandma, 102 yrs-old, is dying. Family cinema was cancelled in the meantime and most probably the picnic for 12th also will be. I'm so sad because of these events. I don't know grand-grandma personally, so I'm being selfish and mourning my lost fun events because I really wanted to go out of town to relax w/ my man...

Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ coffee and Nestlé Fitness cereals (250 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal)

11H00 - an apple (50 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup, vegetable stew with some rice, a yogurt with an apple and LF milk w/ coffee (650 kcal)

14H00 - orange (100 kcal)

16H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (real coffee) and a small cookie (100 kcal)

20H00 - grilled chicken breast (500 kcal)

Grand total: 1700 kcal

Exercise, I'm going to Holmes Place today to try LesMills BodyCombat... oh yeah.

> play badminton with my colleague here at work from 18h00 and then my man comes and we go out to walk in the city and have grilled chicken at Miradouro (Belvedere of Lisbon, a breathtaking viewpoint over the city).

I'm extra hungry today, just like yesterday...!!!!

Progress as of today: 142.1 lbs lost so far, only 39.1 lbs to go!

waydesmommy on 03/03/2011:
I don't think your being selfish in mourning not being able to do your events. If you didn't know her, you don't have a reason to mourn her...it's just the way we humans are. Hope your day gets better and you have a great one!

V on 03/03/2011:
Oh Yea!!! Have a good workout!! ;)

loveray on 03/03/2011:
im so sorry to hear about all of the yucky stuff happening- i think you have a good attitude toward the situation and it isnt wrong at all to feel sad that you arent doing your fun stuff this weekend. it is so sweet of you to be there for him during this difficult time. let me know how les mills goes! i have always wanted to try that.

sweetpea1977 on 03/03/2011:
Woohoo, discount on mangos! Awesome!! :)

Sorry to hear about grand-grandma. It sounds like she lived a long happy life, so at your man can have peace knowing this. Anyway, I'd also be bummed about missing out on fun events too, especially after long weeks at work!! So dont feel guilty about it.

Enjoy your bodycombat workout!

Umpqua on 03/03/2011:
Sorry you're missing out on your cinema fun, you have a lot going on now. At least you got some morning cuddle time in bed, I miss that since the boys have arrived. One of us always has to get up and tend to them, no time to hang out with each other in the AM. Hope you have a great workout!

biscottibody59 on 03/03/2011:
Hope you have a good day!

RYC: You're too funny!

hollybelle on 03/03/2011:
Badminton story = too funny! Sorry about the other stuff. Kiss and make up, is fun, too.

nemogirl on 03/03/2011:
If you felt the same way as other people do for their own sadnesses, then when could you ever be happy? The world is full of things to be sad about, you have to pick and choose what you can handle.

V on 03/03/2011:
Did you order the workout too Kat??? I can burn Turbo Fire for you so please don't spend your hard earned money unnecessarily.. Let me know okay???.
