Good morning, Ladies!

I have been to tennis today - and the coach didn't appear. Oh, YEAH... appeared were two rookies and wanted to play with me on the empty court but I skipped it and opted for a combo of Pilates and BodyBalance. I was hoping to re-establish my inner peace with this combo but I am not very bright today. Must be the period. It didn't come last month, most probably because of the stress. But now it's coming for sure because I'm hungrier than usual and my mood is low...

Meanwhile, the railway announced a month of strike, between 26th Feb - 31 March. Lovely. Wonder if we'd opt for a strike ourselves and wouldn't buy the monthly ticket... we'd save 80 euros, now that's worth to try... Well, seriously, we need the monthly ticket because it's a bus + underground + train combo, so we wouldn't be able to pass the doors on the buses nor underground. Dang! A good idea have just gone astray...

Talking about saving, I'm having sweetpea's words constantly in mind about coupons. I started to look out for coupons and discount prices. I have the monthly ticket (sigh...) and Lisbon's small so I can reach all the different supermarket brands and use the coupons/discounts... yayy... hooray for Sweetpea and her brilliant mind! 

Today's menu:

06H10 - LF greek yogurt w/ cereals (250 kcal)

10H00 - an apple and LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup, cooked veggies w/ some chicken meat, cooked, a LF yogurt and some milk w/ coffee substitute (550 kcal)

16H00 - LF yogurt w/ a banana, an apple, 4 salty cookies (350 kcal)

19H00 - an apple and a natural yogurt and some organic rye bread (320 kcal)

23H30 - a kiwi, greek yogurt w/ rye bread (300 kcal)

Grand total: 1900 kcal

Tonight: badminton, YAYYYYYY....

Sounds like it's time for a cup of hot relaxing tea and some quiet time. I would say not paying for the monthly ticket would be worth a try too. I mean if you can't ride it anyway for a month, no use in paying for it. Just keep thinking possitive and things will begin to look brighter for you! Take care.

yay!! Couponing and only buying sale/discount items really does save money! It does take extra effort and time, but its totally worth it!

Sorry about the tennis coach. Why is he so so unreliable??

The pregnancies affected my gums, I was told they were in bad shape during and directly after pregnancy. Something to do with the hormones I think. But I continued brushing and flossing (I'm not regular with flossing, I do it whenever I think of it) and they were back to normal within a year of the last pregnancy. I have been very very lucky with my teeth!

Good morning, Girls!

Well, let's see how the day develops. Yesterday was a bad one for me and for my man (read yesterday's entry). Today, I'm still having muscle pains but it's the least. I've been to tennis today, life's getting back to normal. I have the money put apart for badminton (tomorrow it is, yayyy), and I made my decisions where to cut. It will be on food mainly, and we are not going to eat out this month. Good for the diet, LOL! The cats will eat a cheaper food when this pack is over, no problem... and let's hope we won't need medical care. I have to cancel my medical apptm. for 7th, and will go only on the 10th. I have analysis to do by the end of the month, and one more medical appt. but by that time we can see our status. I want to avoid asking money from the company, because there's no guarantee for April either. Man has his eyes open at least, let's hope he finds something soon. It's difficult for him, and for me, too. I have a troubled past, a trouble mother who was never right on paying the bills and my life is haunted by this... I'm extremely cautious to be able to pay the bills, and only then comes luxury. I opted for a man who's responsible and safe, and now this safety is away for a while. And I keep blaming him, too, I am unable to understand why does he wait for so long. And he keeps waiting, saying "I'm going to see on Friday how things develop". But why, things have already developed for the worst, so what the hell are we waiting for? It's been instable for months, the Christmas salary wasn't paid either, but now he didn't receive a coin! Working for free? What's the objective?

Well... Could have been worse!

 Note: I'm going to do Pilates at home today... Determined to do it! :-) Also, I want to do a veggie food with paprika + tomato + black rice for lunches for the rest of the week... I plan to prepare a big dose of the base and add other small ingredients daily to make it different, like zucchini, mushrooms...

When things get bad it means that there are better things coming your way. It may not be the way you want them to come, but that's the way it always goes. I can understand you being worried about the bills. But keep your head up and look for the good in every situation. If you can find good in it that's how you know it's going to be ok. That is a very stressful place to be, I know we have been there too. You sound like you have got your action plan in place to manage what you do have, so good for you! I'm in paaaain.... muscle pains, ARGH!!! I can hardly move. Today my muscles were screaming "no, no, no, no please noooo" during the individual tennis training. But this is OK, it's because of RPM day bf yesterday. That's something really hard.

I couldn't force myself to BodyBalance afterwards. I'm going at 6pm instead, LOL... and I'm not sure, as I've been to HP already and did 20 min steps. Not much, but it made me sweat.

Meanwhile (I write this at 4 PM) my man received bad news at work - the boss has no money to pay the salaries this month (we receive on a monthly basis). So, we'll have to live on one salary, mine. I'm going home today instead of badminton so we can do some counting, to see if I have to or not sacrifice badminton this month. If so, next month will be the same as he won't be able to get a job so soon. My workplace has already contacted him, and he's been rescheduled for March 8. Let's see what happens.

I have mixed feelings "skipping" badminton today because it can easily be the last chance for the next 2 months at least to play. But I think I will be able to afford it, even if I have to eat bread and water during the following months. I still have 90 euros per month to pay for the rest (tennis, swimming, aquafitness, etc) and there's no way to escape from that, as it's a year's contract. Thank God (and my salary of course) June and July had been paid already...

Yeeee... new weight! Well... not strange, after these two crazy days, hahaha... and I'm intended to continue on Monday.

Yesterday I could make it to RPM and BodyBalance, but no PowerPool. I got exhausted, and I wanted to be with my man.

RPM was odd, I got mad b/c I haven't had the bike working properly and I was doing the easiest level most of the time. By the time the professor gave some attention to this fact, the class was about to end. I'm going to do RPM on Monday, and this time I'll make sure the bike is set correctly. I just didn't know, it was my first RPM class yesterday.

Goodness! You are awesome. Those exercise pics above, you lost me on that first one. If I tried that, you would have to call the fire department to get me "undone". :) Movies require coke and popcorn. They do. Hello, girlie girls!

It's 3h30 pm in the afternoon and I'm at work. I'm going to leave in an hour so I can grab a ticket for the free RPM class starting at 5h30pm.

Well, girls.... YESTERDAY WAS ... well... something extraordinary, in terms of exercise. I had tennis at 7h00 am, then BodyBalance at 8h30. THEN, we made it to a class called BodyStep at Holmes Place from 7pm to 8pm. Ohhhh my God. Never again, never never never never!!!!!! I hated it. Absolutely hated every single moment of it. Coordination of legs and arms at the same time?!! Only if it's something with rackets, please... Now this gym was an overcrowded, highly commercial, disgusting thing... DISGUSTING, bahhh... or am I too badly used to the small, 3-4 participant classes with professors that care and watch your moves and correct you if you're doing it wrong??? I think so. Holmes Place is a €€€ -oriented company, the university campus stadium (where I pay those 90 euros per month) belongs to the Portuguese state, and it's people-oriented. Huge difference, believe me. Well, then! I went to badminton, highly accelerated and I didn't feel any tired, nothing. My colleague was exhausted after the class, and me, I had some sweat but it was very hot in the room. LOL... Well, well...! Then.. I arrived to badminton, I sat a bit.. HUGE MISTAKE. Hehehe... By the time the training started, my legs were rubber, I was walking like Popeye's Olivia, LOL... anyway, my team has lost but I managed to win 2 games... hehehe... And today, I was there at 9h30 am to attend Pilates, then swimming at 10h45 then at 11h15 a very hard arm-concentrated class of PowerDeep. Still, I want to go to RPM at 5h30 pm, BodyBalance at 6h30 pm and PowerPool at 7h45 pm....

I had lots of food already, imagine. :-) I had a good breakfast, a nice lunch and three balls of ice-cream at my favorite ice-cream shop in Lisbon, where the lady makes ice-creams without milk/creams and without added sugar. Today she didn't have anything without added sugar, but nevermind that. I'm feeling great.

08H00 - a whole cereals bun w/ LF soy margarine and a cup of coffee & LF milk, 2 kiwis (350 kcal)

12H30 - an orange (100 kcal)

13H30 - chicken curry with indian bread and salad and a low amount of rice (600 kcal)

The BodyStep sounds like a nightmare! Good job getting all that exercise in though. As for my chicken, the place we go to uses only fresh, never frozen chicken. They do all the breadings and sauces themselves, wings are their specialty. I definitely avoid the pre-frozen stuff, I don't want us or the boys eating it. They do say they fry it in the same oil as their breaded chicken, so that may have been the problem, plus salt.

I couldn't get the hang of those types of classes either--I'd have to go several times (**before I'd get into the routine of it**) and it just seemed like too much of the same thing. Supremely boring.

BTW, you're likely getting in quite a bit of jogging/running with your racket sports, so keep up the good work!

Ugh the potty training is on hold for now LOL...while he gets excited at the mention of "going potty", he will just sit on it for 15 minutes and not do anything even if he has had a dry diaper for hours and we know he has to pee. He doesn't understand yet, so we are going to keep encouraging him, but not try to force it on him at the moment. The good news is he has stopped pulling his diaper down and off and peeing all over, so I guess that was just a phase he went through LOL. Have a great weekend! Sounds like you have a busy one full of activity...good for you! =D

Wow you put me to shame on exercise this week. I'll do better this week. I don't like those really commercial type gyms, either. The one I go to lately is owned by a hospital and started out for their employees, but now opened membership to public, too. I think they will need new save soon as some classes are crowded. I may join only for a month more and go to zumba classes at a church near my house. There are lots of classes in churches here. The instructors are independent. Then there is bike riding season coming up! Keep up the great work, Katlin!

Hello girls!

I'm fine, really! My man's having issues now, he's very sad because of work issues and now he vomits a lot which is worrying. I hope he gets out of his emotional ditch... I told him yesterday that he should come with me tomorrow, as I'm going to the "New CDs Launch" of BodyBalance, BodyPump, RPM and PowerPool. These are free of charge activities once a month when the Les Mills method changes its choreographies and I could take him with me. But he doesn't want to come. I told him exercise would help him big time but he doesn't listen to me...

Tomorrow will be very cool, I'm going to my usual routine of Pilates + swimming + PowerDeep... But then, I'm going to participate on the Launch of the new LesMills CD's of BodyBalance and PowerPool. I'm not sure about RPM and BodyPump.

Meanwhile I won a free golden membership to Holmes Place between 24th Feb - 4th March and I'll use it well. Today I will try BodyStep and on Monday I'll try their aquafitness class and RPM with colleagues who have memberships.

Yesterday I told my man that I'd like to get a new tennis racket. He told me to get lost. LOL... Men. They don't understand their women's feelings. Sniff...

not that continuous :) Pilates at 9h30, PowerDeep at 11h15, in between swimming. THEN, BodyBalance at 18h30 and PowerPool at 19h45! :) If I'd get in RPM and BodyPump, it would be 16h30, 17h30... I won't do that, I guess (!) I'm not that crazy. HEHEHE...

I would imagine that your man would like to have you home a little more if he is feeling stressed out and actually vomiting because of his concerns. However I know that he is lower on your prorities than your exercise so I hope that you enjoy what seems like a whole day of fun and working out!:)

Busy day, huh?! I've been to the ear doc already, obtained a prescription for 5 medical exams. LOL... money keeps rolling out in all directions! Each Dr's appt. cost 10 euros, just for the record. Even if he says: "This is not with me, this is with an other specialist." Ka-Ching.

But, exhale, iiiinhale... breath deep...and say: health above all. (They abuse on this fact though! Private hospitals... pff..).

Today's menu:

06H30 - a pear (100 kcal)

10H00 - a yogurt (50 kcal)

10H30 - MF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup, a yogurt, an apple (300 kcal)

13H30 - a MF milk & coffee, 80gr bread (300 kcal)

16H00 - an orange

18H00 - a LF yogurt w/ 100% DDR Vitamin D (Densia) and a slice of whole toast

Grand total: 1000 kcal

Note: going to eat out tonight, request of my love. I'm going to behave, but I am hungrier than usual... I suspect TOM's arrival.

Hi Kat,as I haven't been on here much over the last week, I have just caught up with your last few posts and I am so sorry to hear the troubles you are having. The worst thing is not knowing what is causing the black outs. I hope it is discovered soon and is nothing too serious that can be fixed easily. Sounds like you have a good attitude about dealing with your health. Lots of people just ignore it and hope it goes away. Your are doing the best thing by looking into it thoroughly and speaking to more than one Dr. I wish you all the best xxx

Morning, Ladies!

Apparently, it's not the spine anymore. I have to go to the ear doctor. I booked for tomorrow... SIGH. Money's rolling out. I also booked a spine specialist for 10th March to discuss my spine's grave transformations. I may need surgery on this, because Dr. said an eventual pregnancy would make me crippled. DANG I'm so sad. I hope this can be fixed somehow. I don't know about NOW but what if for the future we want a kiddo or two...? Also, how can one explain to hubs... "we cannot have a kid because I'm at risk of becoming crippled"... I'm so very sad.

By the way, as I'm not that giving up easily type of person, I will gather more Dr.s' opinions and sort things out. It's my life, after all.

I had an individual, exhausting training today morning at tennis. Looks like the sun is here to stay (AMEN). I didn't go to BodyBalance after this... I was dead. LOL.

Good news is, as it's not the spine causing blackouts, I'm going to badminton tonight!!!

Today's menu:

06H00 - LF greek yogurt w/ Nestlé Fitness cereals (250 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, an orange (100 kcal)

11H15 - a LF yogurt (50 kcal)

13H00 - veggie soup (150 kcal) + 8 cereals bread, 100 gr (250 kcal) + a LF yogurt (50 kcal), LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal)

15H30 - an orange (100 kcal)

17H00 - a LF yogurt with a really small banana, a kiwi and an apple (like a fruit salad) and 2 whole grain cookies (300 kcal)

18H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (50 kcal)

Grand total: 1350 kcal

I'm having lots of real coffee today, and food. I'm so filled now... it's because of the stress I'm experiencing. Hopefully it goes away. And then again, looking at my menu I can say I didn't eat anything harmful and I'm not in binge eating either so... I'm going to behave now, and will have only my usual veggie soup (a smaller dose) at night.

Wow, what scary news. Do you know if the surgery is a guarantee to cure your spine issues? Regardless of your thoughts on having children, I do think that having a healthy spine should be high on your list. You dont deserve to suffer from pain needlessly.

I am no doctor, but as someone else said, there are a lot of new breakthroughs in all sorts of medicine. Maybe talk to an orthapedic specialist if you haven't. Hopefully the dizzy is inner ear, which in most cases can be fixed with medication. Take care, please. More hugs.

The more weight you lose, the less stress there will be on the spine. I bet a lot of the problem will be resolved with continued weight loss. The doctors don't know either. A wait and see attitude is the best.

YOu are smart to keep investigating and talking to more doctors. The month after the doctors told my mom she would never have any more children and she needed a hysterectomy she was pregnant with me. And, she never had the hysterectomy.

Yesterday I still had some issues before falling asleep, but then I had a tranquil night... I deserved it, huh..?! I was all sad because of being absent from badminton. A perfect opportunity was lost again. But, have to move on, LOL. Moving on, today morning I had tennis FINALLY!!!! Yeee.. I gave upon the Pilates class, partly because of these "seizures" and partly because I had to attend a conference call at 10 AM and I wouldn't be able to arrive in time... Tomorrow is an other day, Scarlett.

Today's menu:

09H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal) and a whole cookie (20 kcal)

12H00 - a peach (80 kcal)

16H30 - two slices of Whole toasts (70 kcal) + kiwi (30 kcal) + banana (50 kcal) + LF yogurt (50 kcal)

20H00 - grilled beef hamburger meat with asparagus cream & salad w/ vinagrete (500 kcal)

Dunno about tonight, where my man wants to go after the Dr's appointment. Maybe we go to the shopping mall and eat out...

Apple is the lowest, but it's still pretty high carb, I'd blow most of the day's carbs on it if I had one. At least I can get a good amount of veggies in, and the wheat bran and nuts should help with fiber. That's why this is temporary, no way can I give up or even cut back on my wonderful fruits for the long haul.

Morning, Girlies... I wish a warm, sunny day to everyone!

It looks like a sunny day. I'm not feeling so well though. I forced myself to attend the HidroCycle and BodyBalance classes today morning, but I was constantly fainting out because of my spine problem. The world was turning constantly upside down, during my sleep and now it came during both classes... Resumed: it's getting worse. Tonight I will try to sleep on the sofa without a pillow... and I'm still pondering the badminton training for today, maybe I should give it a rest.

Update at 7 pm: No badminton for me today. I'm going to go home and give myself a break. Also, I have to put the papers together so I can show the orthopedist my history tomorrow evening.

Today's menu:

06H30 - a banana (100 kcal)

11H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, two whole cookies (200 kcal)

13H30 - veggie soup (120 kcal), a slice of grilled chicken breast w/ cooked vegetables (500 kcal) and a yogurt (80 kcal) and a small pear

16H00 - an Algrave (Portuguese) orange and a Chile peach (extra expensive but smelled so good, better than it tasted actually...) 200 kcal

20H00 - veggie soup, a kiwi and a LF vitamin D yogurt Danone Densia

RYN: My plan is to be more consistent equally with both food and exercise (wt trng needs special attention). I'm doing well with the cardio, and it's getting better on a weekly basis.

Actually I'm not really doing as much exercise and at the intensity I'm used to. I'm not as fit as I should be, and I simply can't do as much as I'd like. However, I'm getting there--it's been slow, but as long as I'm seeing progress I'm not gonna complain too much:-)

I'm 51 yrs old and I refuse to roll over for gravity OR health stumbling blocks!
