I know I haven't been participating in the Weekly Challenge for weeks... I'm just so... dunno, excited about and fully concentrated on the badminton and other sports I'm doing... The food got in SECOND PLACE, finally!!!! I was so afraid I could get obsessed by the whole thing, but now I'm in perfect harmony with myself. I realized this over the weekend, and yesterday night I arrived home around 11 PM, felt so good after a really intensive badminton training I couldn't fall asleep so easily. Then, today morning I ended up in the gym coz the tennis courts were all wet (morning humidity suxx...). There's only one training left in the gym, then the plans will be changed, yeeee. It's so damn boring.

Haven't weighed in for ages... Have to do it tomorrow morning, if I remember by then.

Today's menu:

06H00 - two slices of whole toast w/ LF cheese cream and LF choc soy milk and veggies (400 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

11H40 - an apple (60 kcal)

12H30 - broccoli soup, yogurt with brownies, coffee w LF milk (440 kcal)

16H00 - a LF yogurt (100 kcal)

20H00 - a slice of red meat with asparagus and some cake my friend brought me from Hungary (700 kcal)

Grand total: 1800 kcal

Progress as of today: 123.2 lbs lost so far, only 63 lbs to go!

The Kinect is for the XBox. We have Wii too, but this is a lot better IMO. No joystick or balance board required, you stand in front of a scanner/camera and it tracks all your movements. It's really a full body cardio workout!

Good morning, Ladies! :-)

I'm still in the semi-finals, as the tournament didn't continue yesterday due to bad weather... Now I have one entire week to be happy to be in the semi-finals. Especially because there are younger, lighter girls in the competition who didn't lose 120+ pounds over the year and have partners to practice with. I only have trainings, I don't have anyone to compete with, to play sets with... . Some of these girls have their husbands/BF's to play with... I'm so jelous of them.

Today I woke up in time to go to the gym, but when I went to the bathroom I suddenly felt a huge ugly pain in my back... Imagine, a pain so strong it provoked nausea !!!! I went back to bed to rest a bit, couldn't really fall back to sleep. I took a Diclofenac and now I'm feeling much better. I won't get any younger than this, but I still want to play badminton tonight...

Yesterday afternoon we went to the International Gems & Minerals Fair. I expanded my collection of little stone animals!!!! :-) I'm so happy. And there were still some I didn't have but will wait to buy them next year, to keep the spirit. 

After the fair we went to have Ben&Jerry's... ice-cream, one of my weaknesses.

Today's menu:

08H30 - a toast w/ LF cheese cream and a cup of LF milk w/ coffee (350 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal) and a pear (50 kcal)

12H30 - grilled chicken breast w/ veggies and chickpea & onion salad (600 kcal)

17H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, a banana w/ a LF yogurt (200 kcal)

18H45 - two small slices of Hungarian pastry with nuts and poppyseeds, sampling of my friend's mother's creations from Hungary (250 kcal)

23H00 - veggie soup (200 kcal)

Grand total: 1800 kcal

it is harder to do challenges/weight loss with a partner...however, we all have it in ourselves to do just as well by ourselves. you can do it...don't let any such thoughts derail you.

A fast note:

in pairs: we won the first game, lost the second and got out of the pairs tournament for good.

in singles:  Someone put me as one head of the serie so I was there for hours without playing waiting for the level 1's to finish their games but then I won mine so I'm running for the title today, yayyyy :-D

We went to the HidroDeep MasterClass yesterday, my man didn't like it that much but he loved the pool. Half victory. He didn't like the tennis game either, saying it's confusing. LOL... he doesn't like anything, this man!!!! GRRR... :-)  Better though, I wouldn't be able to pay two times the value I am paying. :D

OMG, badminton was something superb!  I loved the training, and the guys were super-cool and helpful. Rita, my colleague was in the spotlight because she didn't know how to grab the racket correctly, therefore her moves weren't quite good. As for me, tennis gave me a break here. They didn't believe it was my first time, then I told them I was a tennis player... then the coach told me: "Even then, girl, it's not normal for a tennis player to hit the shuttlecock as you do, because normally tennis players bring erroneous movements to the field, hitting the shuttlecock downwards like if it was a tennis ball...". LOL, I guess I'm gifted then, LOL!!!!

Good news is, the coach said it was no use to pay for December, so we can go free of charge this month, and from January we pay 40 euros per month (I mistook the 25 euros price, it was for the juniors (in age).. I counted us as juniors first, I'm no expert here, why to pay that much, LOL ).

Bad news is, I'm paying 90 euros already at the tennis, if I add 40, my bills will raise  dramatically just like taxes... In addition, the university sports complex is being sold out, the government doesn't want to keep it anymore, so the 0% VAT I'm enjoying now will be over. Means that, 90 euros + 23% = 111 EUR, now that's a lot of money alone. I could afford it I guess, IF my man wouldn't lose his job in the near future (we still know nothing about this), and I still don't know if he goes for the hydrogym or not (which I'd like to, he deserves something relaxing and he should do some kind of sport, too!), if so, it will be an additional fee. And let's face this, diet or not, these are all luxuries nowadays...

And I still love tennis the most. I tried to do calculations to see how could I get the most of the situation, and I couldn't get to anywhere... will let ya know.

badminton sounds awesome!! i remember trying to play when i was about 12 or so when we went to the beach...i was not very good. i did play on competitive tennis teams from age 10-16 and you are inspiring me to get back on the court. love the t-shirt!! :)

You are right with badminton it is more like banging the shuttlecock against the racket rather than hitting it. I am sorry you may have to give up some of your sports. You look like you are going to take someone out in the photo's, I would love to give you a game, we would have great fun!!

I'm afraid I won't be able to talk about ANYTHING ELSE but... : my first badminton training will be today at 8.45pm! YAYYYY!! and, and, and... I've got to know the tournament schedule:

Going to play at 3PM tomorrow in pairs, and on Sunday the singular game (still don't know at what time).

I've chosen my t-shirt for the tournament ,it says: "NOBODY trains to COME in second..."... LOLOLOLOL.... game spirit, competition! :D

I won't miss Pilates and PowerDeep in the morning neither, and at night I have a HydroDeep Masterclass, my man comes with me, YEEEEEEEEEEAH!!!!! :-D

I'm going to be exhausted, lol... today I had gym, and tonight: first training of badminton... 9h30 - Pilates, 10h45 --> 11.15h swimming,  11h15 --> 12h30 PowerDeep, 15h00 - tournament (dunno how many games, depends on winning or losing), 19h30 - HydroDeep Masterclass... and on Sunday, tournament to be continued! :-D

06H00 - soy yogurt and 3 smaller cookies (200 kcal)

09H30 - LF milk w/ coffee, a cookie (150 kcal)

12H00 - a tin of sardines w/ salad and LF plain yogurt (500 kcal)

I'm going to answer here and on Nita's site too. The cookies I am eating are very small, whole grain cookies with unrefined sugar. They are high in fiber and help me to poo.... :) These cookies today were the ones I made on the 8th December, like 0,02 lbs each, very small ones. They have whole flour, honey and eggs. Very small amount of margarine. :)

You know, I get exhausted just looking at all the exercise you do. You are a little dynamo!! So impressive. The flooding is in country N.S.W. and Queensland, so no where near me, it would be like having flooding in France or Germany affecting you. It is all on the other side of the Great Dividing Range that runs nearly the full length of eatern Australia a few hundred kilometres inland. Australia is a land of extremes, we are either in drought or flooding. We are well set up to deal with it, apart from the idiots who don't listen and drive in flood waters. Good morning, Ladies!

The crappy weather continues here. I was baking til midnight (literally speaking, I went to bed 10 min after midnight, LOL) and I just couldn't wake up today morning to go to the gym. I cannot go at night either because there's a friend coming to visit by InterRail during the day and I'm taking him home . Tomorrow will be a bit more complicated as I'm not planning to give up my first badminton training because of him, nor the gym in the morning. I have to appear at the gym because I have to speak with the tennis coach who's always there from 7 AM, about the tournament... I don't believe there will be one, and I need to know how does it work then.

Also, a confession: I had some of my cookies yesterday, of course. But I believe I could stay between limits...

Today's menu:

08H45 - rice milk (last dose, WOHOO!!! no more of this brand for sure) w/ coffee (200 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

12H30 - veggie soup w/ a grilled smashed egg (600 kcal) + soy yogurt (100 kcal)

16H00 - LF milk w/ coffee, a small pear (150 kcal)

18H00 - soy yogurt (100 kcal)

20H00 - veggie soup, some cookies with milk and a yogurt (350 kcal)

Good morning, Girls!

Yeah, an other national holiday today! I want to go to Decathlon (huge store of sporting goods) to check on badminton shoes (yeah, these exist and are highly recommended, do you believe...) and some indoors cheap outfit for badminton as well. Equipement, as they call it. My man was a bit annoyed when I told him about me wanting to go shopping for sporting goods... again. LOL. He bought me rackets though... badminton, also. I hope it will be good, and maybe next year I get a serious one, LOL ...

I also want to make the test-baking of the usual honey and spices christmas cookies without white sugar, no white flour and only a minimum butter:

Yesterday I had a visitor after HydroPower: TOM. LOL.... good to have it AFTER the pool session, and not in the middle or right before. And it's good to have the day off on its first day. Tomorrow I plan to go to the gym, or maybe HydroPower again, as there will be one from the same type (2x, Tue-Thurs every week). Just that I really hate using tampon in the pool, I don't feel safe enough, and I'm always out from my confort zone, and that's no fun then!

Aunt V , you can move to here, you're welcome anytime, we have plenty of holidays . But Lisbon has few Starbucks and I bet it's not the same... there are series of foods and chemicals which are not allowed here in Europe (for now...) so the tastes must be different!  I have to tell you though, Portuguese coffee is one of the best. Do you have a coffee maker machine? If you do, what type?

YUM portuguese coffee!! i am a bit of an addict. i have the grind and brew machine from cuisinart. you pour whole coffee beans in and get delicious coffee out:) im happy your visitor didnt come until after the pool session, that could have been a bummer! good luck with the cookies, let us know how they turn out!

LOL To answer your question I have a really cheap Proctor Silex maker...I had a krups but now since the lovely folks at Starbucks fuel my addiction I don't use it alot...I think I would like Portuguese coffee...Maybe i should stop by your work today and we could have lunch and plan where I am to live and work ;) LOL I wish!!! Wow, this is a great day!!!! I'm so happy, so good-mooded. First of all, tomorrow is a national holiday (yes, AGAIN!!! :-P). Won't be doing rigorously nothing... LOL...

Second best thing today started yesterday, we went to see the badminton stuff. I'm IN LOVE... 25 EUR/month, 3 times a week, and the classes have the duration of ONE AND A HALF HOURS!!!! YEEEEEAH!!!! I'm soooo in!!!! Worse that when I told my love, he sighed and asked me: "So, when will you arrive home on those days?" ... Well, I'll arrive around 10h30 PM... I know it's hard to swallow, but ... why doesn't he raise his butt and comes with me??? Go with the flow....? Nope...

Starting badminton on Friday...

Today morning I planned to go to the pool and then Pilates. I did make it to the pool and had a nice HydroPower class, rather intensive for the arms and abdomen, yeah!, no Pilates (no time, had to arrive at 9AM to work), passed through the tennis courts to enroll in the next tournament ... will be held this weekend (don't think so, the weather is still crappy, haven't had classes for two weeks now! ). I will ask my to come with me and take photos. LOL... most probably I will be washed out and humiliated by some 14-year-old but ... practice is practice, any occasion is a good occasion to play tennis.

Today's menu:

06H05 - a soy yogurt and rice milk w/ coffee (250 kcal)

09H30 - LF milk w/ coffee, a cereal whole w. bun (250 kcal)

12H45 - sushi (with colleagues) (900 kcal)

20H00 - veggie soup, an orange and two small tangerines, a LF yogurt (400 kcal)

Grand total: 1800 kcal

Progress as of today: 123.2 lbs lost so far, only 63 lbs to go!

I am excited that you will be starting badminton soon and hope that your tennis gets going. You are right your man could go and play or watch. There is a special diet for people with lapband when they first have them, 80% of people then just eat small amounts of normal food. Not me though, I will have to see how much I can tolerate this time round with less fluid.

I'm here at work, just arrived from the gym. I really have to ask them to alter my plan, it's so boring to ride the bike during 20 minutes... LOL... I have to do precisely 35 minutes, from which 20 min bike and 15 min fast walking on the threadmill. I am winking at the ellipticals constantly, but I don't know if I'm good enough for that yet!

Also, I've found the PERFECT music for strength workout... Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us (only if you have a strong heart, mind and soul, watch the video on youtube...)!

Today's menu:

06H10 - toasted rye bread w/ soy margarine and a cup of rice milk* (!!!!) with coffee substitute (400 kcal)

10H00 - a cereal whole wheat bun with milk w/ coffee (300 kcal)

11H30 - a banana (80 kcal)

12H30 - veggies + 2 slices of grilled chicken breast meat and a LF yogurt (450 kcal)

16H45 - a small Portuguese pear, LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

21H30 - a huge dose of m-in-law's veggie soup (300 kcal)

Grand total: 1600 kcal

*Rice milk: this was my first experience with rice milk. I bought a "bio rice milk", and I'm slightly annoyed. First of all, I received it from a familiar, it wasn't bought by me. The thing is, it has VEGETABLE OIL, and surely contains sugar, even if it doesn't state it!!! Because I mixed it with coffee substitute, and it doesn't have sugar (I know because I drink it with milk) and it tasted awfully sweet. Then, 100 ml has the tremendous amount of 73 kcal!!!! Geez... really... I'm going to give the vanilla flavor a try, it states 47 kcal/100 ml but it also contains VEGETABLE OIL....

There's a Canadian show called X-weighted with a trainer helping one person per episode. He never lets them use an elliptical because it's not hard enough or enough of a workout compared to other things, so go ahead and try it. That wasn't my experience, but the good thing about it to me is that it's very low impact.

That's kind of gross on the rice milk. My boys drank it a bit when they were smaller, I am much more careful now about reading labels. Hope you have a good one Red ;)

I always found rice milk, watery and fairly tasteless, I think that the one you had was not the real deal. The sushi was delicious by the way. You are doing so well with your exercise. Good for you.

Vegetable Oil??? Yuck!!! I don't know much about milk (don't like it, I think milk is disgusting) But that doesn't sound right!! the thought of it makes my stomach turn a bit...i hope you find a feisable substitute!

Hello girls!!!

Party was cool, we were literally the last ones to leave, LOL... I arrived home at 5 AM sunday, so excuse me my late appeareance here (it's 8 PM, I slept in in the morning and then after lunch I had 5 more hours, aaaahhh tasted delicious!).

Have to say, everybody was astonished by my looks. It was great in the beginning, but with the time passing by, and with the amount of alcohol in their blood raising, people got really abusive. I hate receiving hugs and kissies from drunks. Really. It must be because my mother has been with this drunk for 15+ yrs and he was always like that - kisses and hugs and violence, BLAGH, I hated him so much. Now he's getting what he deserves though, sicker by the day, only in his forties. He doesn't even drink anymore, wow. One who could send 6 litres (202 oz) of wine down on his throat during a single morning... So, in addition I'm not really used to compliments on my looks so I couldn't handle the situation most of the time... "Ahh Kat you are sooo pretty, so slim?" "Am I? (embarrassed)"... LOL, V, I desperately need Leo lessons here...

I didn't know you were getting your hair colored too!!! I love everything!!! The hair, makeup, pants accessories not to mention the super cute boots!!!! Meowsers!!!! Congrats you are officially a glam goddess!!!! Well as far as the comments you have to brace yourself..I have gotten so much positive feed back for the most part and I look at it like this, you can never hear how beautiful/amazing/courageous you are...LOl That is the price you pay for such a transformation...Although the issue is private, people get super excited and sometimes shout it out...LOL...So take your compliments and remember this day on occasions when people are not so nice :) There will come a time when the negative comments come as well and that is when you recognize who your true friends are and who the Haters are, unfortunately!!! If the compliments embarrass/get to you say thanks and walk away!!! Love the pics, love you :)

It is no wonder everyone was falling over you - you are looking gorgeous before during and after. I too hate drunks, as a non drinker I find them absolutely obnoxious especially when they are angry. The slobbering over you is nearly as bad as they just throw their whole weight on you and if you don't act nice they get nasty. I am glad that you survived. People will get used to looking at the new you and really you did look fabulous!!

I'm sorry to hear that about your step-father. I can't even understand how a person can live with drinking that much wine per day! Because I am a wine drinker, I had to think about the math. I remembered that when hubby and I went to Italy, it was a novelty that we were able to order 1/2 liter of good house wine with dinner (it was so cheap compared to ordering a bottle of wine here in the States). I cannot understand how a person can consume that much wine at once without dying. But I guess he is suffering the consequences now :(
