Good morning, ladies! 

First of all, I want to tell you that I eat well on a daily basis! :-) I just love yogurts and soy stuff, and I prefer them to huge lunches/dinners. I eat small doses during the day and even then it's hard to keep the 1400 kcals because of my dam'd sweet tooth... :-)

I don't note down doses but for example yesterday I had grilled chicken, which means that I had a half breast, grilled, with salad: lettuce, a tomato with moderated salt and olive oil. I say 600 kcal, I don't know if it's true but at least I don't underestimate. Then, when I feel hungry I eat, I try to keep in mind the saying "If you're hungry, eat an apple. If you don't feel like it, you're not hungry". It does work! 

So don't worry! :-) I do not cook, my man cooks for me sometimes but these days I went more veggie and he cannot deal with this situation by now. He needs time to get used to it. :-) I don't cook because I don't have the time, I do 3x physiotherapy and 2x tennis so I arrive home late and I leave early... It's better not to plan big time recipes and I avoid thinking about food all the time. It's enough to plan the HEALTHY part, like "ok, I need some fruits, what to eat today?"...

Today's menu:

08H00 - LF milk w/ cereals (250 kcal)

10H00 - PLUMS, my colleauge brought organic, home-grown plums :-) (100 kcal)

11H00 - coffee w/ milk (100 kcal)

13H30 - cooked veggies with grilled fish and a very tiny piece of carrot cake (600 kcal)

15H40 - a plain yogurt (100 kcal)

21H00 - 2 thin toasts w/ LF fresh cheese and cucumbers (300 kcal)

Grand total: 1500 kcal

Progress as of today: 81.5 lbs lost so far, only 53.7 lbs to go!

Your plan is definitely working for you. I like the question you ask yourself when you think you are hungry. I'll try that too.

Sounds like you have a great plan. My husband won't eat cooked veggies. At all (except corn on the cob). So I've given up trying to please everyone and just make a cooked veg for me and the boys and let hubby fend for himself. Works out well!

You are eating so healthy, I hear you on your sweet tooth that definately is my down fall because I love to bake. I enjoy it so much, but of course I can't leave it alone and let everyone else eat it. I just know it's something I allow myself to do every once in awhile. I usally only bake once a month and if there's a holiday or a birthday. But really that is too often because there is almost always some holiday. I am getting better at baking healthy stuff.

10H30 - a smaller apple (50 kcal)

13H00 - grilled chicken breast w/ salad (500 kcal)

16H00 - a plain yogurt and cherries (200 kcal)

17H00 - soy yogurt (100 kcal)

20H00 - cherries, a half nectarine, a plain yogurt and a soy dessert (250 kcal)

Grand total: 1550 kcal

Progress as of today: 81.5 lbs lost so far, only 53.7 lbs to go!

Toast with lf cream cheese was one of my favorite breakfasts/snacks before I started cutting carbs. What kind of bread do you use?

You really do barely eat. What I like about your schedule is that you eat regularly, even if it is a small apple or a soy yogurt. Kudos to you! And congratulations on losing so much. Did you deal with plateaus?

Hmm, wonder if my Netherlands will be able to defeat BRAZIL in the next round...

I love football. I have concerns to play (falling wouldn't be good for my back...) but I really like the concept.

12H00 - 4 plums (PLUMS!!! LOVELY!!!!!!) 100 kcal

13H00 - Whole grain rice with a tin of octopus and cucumber + LF milk w/ coffee (600 kcal)

16H00 - a plain yogurt (100 kcal) and some cherries (100 kcal)

17H30 - a smaller apple (50 kcal)

20H00 - veggie soup, 2 toasts w light cheese (600 kcal)

Grand Total: 1800 kcal

Meanwhile I bought almost a kilo of cherries.

Morning, Ladies!

A new week has just begun... let's see what it brings! :-) Today my favourite, Netherlands, plays and hopefully, WINS too. I'm sorry about the US team. They were good! But football is just like this - ups and downs, and often, without too much justice.

Today's menu:

08H30 - LF milk w/ cereals, some cherries (250 kcal)

10H00 - LF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

13H00 - tuna "a la naturelle" w/ cooked veggies and some cherries (400 kcal)

15H00 - a soy yogurt (100 kcal)

21H30 - veggie soup w/ some bread and cherries (400 kcal)

I see you have lots of cherries in your menus. I just bought some fresh cherries this weekend, and have really been enjoying them. Even though they are in season right now, they tend to be expensive, so I had to wait for them to go on sale.

Sorry that recipe books don't work for you. I love cooking and have an insanely well-stocked pantry. I won't buy "special" ingredients unless I have several recipes which will use it. My spice rack has seriously expanded the past few months. It seems you've found a very successful route to losing weight w/out having to rely on cookbooks. Good for you!

Hi Ladies!

I went to a concert yesterday night, a tribute to The Queen. They were GREAT, I loved it. Today "morning" (I woke up at 11.30 am, lol!) I had no voice. 

Today's menu:

12H00 - an apple

13H00 - grilled fish with salad, a turo rudi (Hungarian sweet curd covered with chocolate, my sin but I received some and it's so rare in Portugal, sweets from my homeland) and cherries.

17H00 - a slice of toast w/ light cheese and tomato, a cup of LF milk w/ cocoa and black sugar (350 kcal)

20H00 - cherries again, and a plain yogurt (200 kcal)

Dunno the kcal's today, but let's suppose I'm inside limits... :-)

I feel great today.  I hope I can share it with you so you feel great, too! I don't know if you're following the World Cup, but USA got through which is great, and my favourite team Netherlands also!  We'll see about my home country, Portugal today! On the last match they offered a generous 7-0 to North Korea... today's game is with Brasil, so maybe we cannot win for 7-0 this time, but the hope never dies! FRANCE AND ITALY GO HOME! Yeeeeaaa...

Avoid food products containing ingredients that no ordinary human would keep in the pantry.
Ethoxylated diglycerides? Cellulose? Xanthan gum? Calcium propionate? Ammonium sulfate? If you wouldn’t cook with them yourself, why let others use these ingredients to cook for you? The food scientists’ chemistry set is designed to extend shelf life, make old food look fresher and more appetizing than it really is, and get you to eat more. Whether or not any of these additives pose a proven hazard to your health, many of them haven’t been eaten by humans for very long, so they are best avoided.

Thats exactly what they do by making trans fats. They add hydrogen to it to give it a longer shelf life, plus it tastes good, but it is not a natural occuring fat! They MAKE it. Luckily they're starting to ban it. But food companies will boast "NO TRANS FAT' yet they still are packed with saturated fat, which again is hydrogenated fat. Still clogs the arteries bc of its chemical structure.

20H30 - three WW toasts (150 kcal) w/ LF cheese (80 kcal) and veggies... cherries again. (total: 400 kcal)

Avoid foods that have some form of sugar (or sweetener) listed among the top three ingredients.
Labels list ingredients by weight, and any product that has more sugar than other ingredients has too much sugar. (For an exception to this rule, see rule 60, regarding special occasion foods.) Keep in mind don't just look for the "sugar" word. Watch the carbohydrates since they break down into the most basic unit of sugar in the body, glucose. But I get what you mean as far as reading the first few ingredients listed. As far as artificial sweeteners, they may not work for some people, but they do for me. It was a life saver when I lost 75 pounds. I only put it in my coffee. Trick is, you still need true carbohydrates in your diet, so you can't limit them too much.

wow! you never had a tortilla!? what about tortilla chips!? well, if not, stay away. they are generally not full of healthy things, not bad things, just not the healthiest. it's really just a kind of wrap/bread thing.

LOL! That is so true. Sometimes I get the munchies in the evening and i tell myself i can't have anything but an apple. Then magically I'm not hungry enough to eat the apple. Hahah, that is so great!

Very true! When I got home from work yesterday, I went straight to the fridge to warm up my healthy meal. As it was warming up in the microwave, I could smell it and decided I was hungry. Then, while I was cutting up the meat, I realized I wasn't all that hungry after all. Bizarre! Have a good day today!

Hello Everyone! 

Today I'm at the other office so I didn't have the time to write... I had tennis today, after a nice vomitting again... as it seems I'm not 100% yet...

Today's menu:

06H30 - LF milk w/ LF cocoa powder and black sugar, w/ cereals (300 kcal)

10H30 - MF milk w/ coffee and 2 cookies (200 kcal)

13H00 - sushi @sushi bar (800 kcal?)

17H00 - MF milk w/ coffee (100 kcal)

20H00 - yeah, so I had some 400 kcals here... nothing bad though: finnish rye toast bread (two, 40 kcal each) with LF cheese cream, a boiled egg, a bit of tuna in olive oil, a plain yogurt and a soy dessert. 


Grand total: 1800 kcal (BAD)

I love Jillian Michael's DVDs and will highly recommend them to everyone, especially to those who can't afford gym memberships, big expensive gym equipment, or prefer to work out in the privacy of their own home. Her dvds just require light handweights (ranging from 3-8 lbs, depending on your fitness level) and a work out mat if you dont have carpeted floors. Her workouts are tough, but even if you do have of the stuff she makes you do, you will see results because she doesnt allow you to rest in between moves. She keeps your heart rate up which maximizes calorie burn. I love it!

Her workouts do involve some jumping and knee and floor moves, but you could always modify those moves or do something else in place of them all together. She does say that 400lb+ people can successfully do these workouts and I trust that she knows what she is talking about since she is a highly trained personal fitness trainer. At any rate, I definitely recommend viewing the dvds first, because only you know best on what you are physically able to do. If you can't do her workouts now, you can always save them for later. :)
