(Healthy eating (with doctor) and Exercise)
Weight: 299.8

Good morning, ladies!

I'm very happy today. The first mini-goal has been achieved: I'm 299,82 lbs (under 300!!!). This means, 136 kgs (I started at 148 kgs). I think when I updated my Start Weight / Current Weight, I put there the actual status instead of the initial status (it says 316,6 lbs but I started at 326.284148 pounds). So, at the end of 4 weeks (a month)

I'm 12 kgs less, 26 lbs less...

I'm so happy I would inivite you all to party!

Today's menu:

8h00 - low-fat milk with muesli

10h00 - a tea

12h40 - a fish fillet with cooked broccoli and salad (cabbage, onion and tomato), dessert: low-fat yogurt, mango aroma

16h00 -a low-fat yogurt

19h00 - 1 orange (laranja), 2 cookies (140 kcal)

21h00 - dinner: veggie soup

Progress as of today: 16.8 lbs lost so far, only 79.3 lbs to go!

You sure did well the first month! Onward!

legcramps on 02/10/2010:
Congratulations! That's great news - you should be so proud of yourself :) Next month will be just as great!

chidogs on 02/10/2010:
Fantastic news!! Bravo, and give yourself a big pat on the back. You've worked hard for this success. Yay!

fatandfunky on 02/10/2010:
you are a star,i would love to loose that much weight you have inspired me to try harder

panda22 on 02/10/2010:
You have done soooooooo well your first month! Amazing progress! =D Congratulations!

panda22 on 02/10/2010:
Just saw your comment about the pumpkin seeds. Yes I buy a bag of them in their shells and then peel the shells off and just eat the seeds. They are roasted, and yummy. Best thing about them for me is they take FOREVER to eat...so they are a good snack that keeps you busy. I wouldn't eat the shell anyway, too much sodium!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/10/2010:
congrats on your progress so far! thanks for all of your comments...

Greek Yogurt: basically, it has a LOT more protein, usually around double the protein of a regular yogurt, both flavored and plain yogurts. and greek yogurt consistancy is much thicker, which i love. i find them more satifying. they are generally healthier bc they have more protein, a bit less sugar.

MoodyMe on 02/10/2010:
Woooohooooo~Fantastic Job and Congratulations!! I am SO happy and proud of you!!! Seriously, I know how hard this is and you truly inspire me!! Keep it up~Never give up!!!

Thank you for your nice comments on my photos! :-)

... well, it would be tennis day if the weather would have cooperated! But, instead, I had fitness!  I did:

20 min bicycle
20 min walking (this is the treadmill?) at 4-5 km/h
and some other exercises for abdominals, etc.
total: 1 hour

Great! :-) I really liked it, despite of all my initial fears. I'll be doing again on Thurs, as the weather is not going to get better any day soon.

For the Sushi Lovers: I've found a site: Sushi Calories and Nutrition Facts!  http://homepage3.nifty.com/maryy/eng/calorie.htm

Some more photos...? :-) These are from Mértola, Alentejo region... one of my favourite little villages of inner Portugal. :-)

Today's Menu:

7h00 - a Kellog's morning bar (130 kcal) and 100 ml low-fat milk

11h00 - yogurt, low-fat (39 kcal)

12h40 - cooked squid with tomato and onion

16h00 - a yogurt, low-fat (50 kcal)

20h00 - an apple

21h00 - a Coca Cola zero (I had a stomach burn, still at work I couldn't find anything else...)

22h00 - veggie soup (I have no more veggie soup for this week, what a pity!)

Progress as of today: 13.2 lbs lost so far, only 82.9 lbs to go!

4everhopeful on 02/09/2010:
I just adore your photos! Reminds me a little bit of Greek Islands; blue skies and white buildings....Peaceful.. Heaven :) Hubby and I have been to Spain last year but regret the fact that we did not have enough time to visit Portugal. But its on our ever growing list of things to see before leave this world :) Thanks for sharing; sincerely hope you have a wonderful day!

Thank you for your kind comments! Portugal is a beautiful place and yes, you should all visit me! :-) I'd take you to healthy food restaurants for sure!  Here you have some more photos of Portugal. This is an island called As Berlengas, a natural reserve (no cars, only seagulls! ) This is a fort where you can stay for max. 2 nights (nobody can stay longer on the island, except for the guy in the lighthouse), 10 EUR / night, very nomadic circumstances. :-)

SINTRA - STREET (check the sky!!! it's REAL BLUE!)

DENTINHOS (Mr. Fritz) - 1 of our 3 black cats.

And now, back to diet thingies:

Well, in 2 days I'm completing the first month. Hooorray!

Yesterday I did a film marathon - from 15h to 21h I was watching DVD's. :-) It was great, not doing anything!

16h00 - 1 yogurt (low-fat, natural)

20h00 - veggie soup with toasts (80 kcal) and 2 triangle cheese (50 kcal)

NOTE: the toast I ate was a delicious one!! I bought it out of curiosity, it's a finnish rye crispbread toast, 20kcal/slice. Here's the image:

22h00 - a kiwi

Progress as of today: 13.2 lbs lost so far, only 82.9 lbs to go!

I love movie marathons! Or maybe I just love doing nothing! And I love your pictures, too! I am a bit of a travel freak, and you're tempting the travelbug in me with these pictures! It looks so beautiful there. I'd much rather be there than here in the dead of winter. Ah well, such is life! Have a good day today :)

Saturday flies faster than other days (Monday and Tuesday are the worst of all)...

I share some photos with you girls, about Portugal. These are all my shots, as I really love to go out with my Man and sometimes with his family. :-)

Yesterday I ate 7 times... it was 1 too much... I have to control yogurts!!! They are low calorie (50 kcal / 125 gr which is a full dose) but I must not create addiction... That's one key of the diet, too.

Today's menu:

9h15 - cereal drink (coffee-substitute) with low-fat milk and some muesli
/PENSAL bebida de cereais com leite magro e muesli

Your pictures are beautiful! Maybe someday I can convince my wonderful husband to take me on an actual honeymoon there to see it with my own eyes :) We eloped 18 years ago so we never actually had a first honeymoon. I love the night time picture it's breathtaking! You are so blessed to have that much sunshine! We have so much more winter here, dreary-cold days. I know what you mean about yogurts, they are a weakness for me as well, I have been sneaking in an extra one the past week on 10 hours at work, I too don't want to become addicted. I pray you have a wonderful day today!

grumpy on 02/07/2010:
awesome pictures! i wanna see portugal too! as for the dance classes, you should ask your doctor and if he says okay, you can start taking it easier until you're used to them. you can choose lower impact classes and also not give your all in the beginning and just follow the routine. it's an awesome workout and so much fun! xoxo

chidogs on 02/07/2010:
Lisbon is a beautiful city. I went to Portugal many years ago when I was in the travel industry. We also went to the Algarve region. Lovely country. Wonderful food! I could eat then :). Thanks for the pictures. And thanks for your encouragement!

hollybelle on 02/07/2010:
Wow beautiful pics! I want to come to Lisbon. About the dvd for stretching - It's called Perfect in 10 by Annette Fletcher. It is supposed to have 5 10 minute stretch routines on it. I need to stretch and work out. I thought this one might be relaxing. It was rated very well on amazon.com. I got notice they shipped it yesterday so I'll try to check it out early next week and let you know how I like it.

MoodyMe on 02/07/2010:

... and yet I'm working ... I work in a company that's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so I have to face overtime frequently, and the worse, working on weekends. You know I visited a client in London - well, they had staff to do massage, free drinks/food, gym... etc. Then I had to return to reality... :-) But one day, when I'm a very experienced programmer, I'll be there for one of these companies, to stay.... :-)

Yesterday, restaurant: Well, it was hard enough - my Man ordered fried squid with Mayo.... AARGH... the aspect, the smell, he, eating... EVERYTHING.

But I resisted, not a bite! I'm so cool... hehehe...

Then, what I ordered was a slice of swordfish grilled on coal with salad dressing... It was awesome, but I could eat the half, and the other half is here with me so I can eat it today for lunch, at work. Amazing, isn't it?

Me, who could eat a whole dose of "polvo à lagareiro" (Portuguese meal also, basically in this particular restaurant they serve 2 small octopuses with potatoes baked in the oven and they put hot olive oil with garlic on it.) with entries (the famous squid I mentioned before w/ Mayo) and dessert.
Yesterday there were no dessert for anyone. I was sooooo filled I even felt a bit bad. But then again, I was so proud of myself. I remember how hard it was to begin this diet ... and today, I eat much less and my body doesn't want more anymore ... I also know, by experience, that the body can easily go to that "excess eating" mode again, so I will always be watching myself. This is life's mission....

Today's menu:

9h00 - a yogurt 0%fat 0%sugar vanille aroma

11h00 - a mango (love mango... shouldn't eat a whole but I cannot resist this particular fruit)

13h00 - the rest of the swordfish with small tomato

 15h00 - a small pear / 1 pêra pequena com casca

16h00 - 1 yogurt 0% fat 0% added sugar

19h30 - veggie soup with 1 slice of toast bread

22h00 - 1 kiwi + 1 bolacha soja / 1 kiwi + 1 soy whole weat cookie

Progress as of today: 13.2 lbs lost so far, only 82.9 lbs to go!

geevee on 02/06/2010:
I'll never forget the grilled squid from the southern coast of Spain near where the ferry from Morocco docks. Oh, my. I haven't had any comparable to that in years. I put squid in the same category as Key Lime pie, cheesecake and pizza, my FAVORITES. I can't imagine leaving half of that meal for to- day. I really commend you! WOW!

MoodyMe on 02/06/2010:
~You should be very proud of yourself for your successes!!~It's wonderful seeing how far you have come~Keep it up!!

hooray for you..awesome job...!! My cal tracker is from mycaloriecount.com It's pretty easy, I guess I never log my water since that is really all I drink, sometimes w/ crystal light or green tea... Have a great weekend

So happy to hear from you. Yes Dr. Oz is a real surgeon. He is a very famous celebrity also. He use to appear on the Oprah show years ago, now he has his own show. Also Cardio Twister, is an exercise equipment, something like a tread mill, but only it twist your body from side to side, as you take steps on it, kind of similar to a stepper, gives great leg and waist movements. So happy you resisted the fried squid meal. Doesn't control feel awesome. You're doing a great job, keep on taking good care of yourself sis. Hugs

303,35 !!! From 306. GREAT!

Soon I arrive to my first smaller goal, the "below 300". In lbs... then I 'd like to arrive to the "below 130 kg" (16,7 pounds later, 286,6 lbs).

I am in a good mood today. Friday, sunshine... and a promise of going out next week from my ...  what else a woman would want .

Today's menu:

8h00 - muesli c/ leite magro . Low fat milk with muesli.
PANDA22: did you find it?

11h00 - had a tea instead of the apple... I just didn't want the apple. Sorry, doc...

12h45 - peito de peru grelhado fatiado com bróculos cozidos e salada s/ azeite sal ou vinagre
a slice of grilled turkey breast with cooked broccoli and cabbage + tomato without any oil/salt/vinagre

16h00 - 14 gr bolachas água e sal + chá / a tea with salty crackers, 14gr, 64 kcal

17h30 - 1 yogurt low-fat 0%sugar, 0% fat

20h00 - restaurant: a half slice of GRILLED SWORDFISH (adooorable!!!) with salad (cabbage, tomato and onion)

Tonight: RESTAURANT with my Man... He told me yesterday that I've lost my "fun part" because of the diet - translated: diet doesn't let me go eating out. I told him that it's not true, I can go with him, just I have to control myself and he has to help me on this. He understood, and we go out tonight to a Seafood Restaurant. I'll let ya know how it went. :-)

Progress as of today: 13.2 lbs lost so far, only 82.9 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 02/05/2010:
YAY! Good loss! And sorry you were frustrated and mad at self yesterday - but you did come up with a plan if that happens again - and that's a good thing! Have a great weekend.

geevee on 02/05/2010:
How about that nice loss! Gosh, you're so close to your first mini-goal. Maybe in a week?

You're eating just like you should. keep it up!

balloonlady on 02/05/2010:
Awesome..See everything works out...

legcramps on 02/05/2010:
Great job on the loss! You deserve it because you've worked so darn hard! Have fun at the restaurant tonight with your man!

geevee on 02/05/2010:
Your boyfriend's comment about you not being fun any more because you are careful about what you eat is exactly the type of thing one of my sons says to me when he sees me having a small portion, measuring food or simply not eating something. If I don't abandon all control I get a lecture from him or an extra rich something to eat like the grits he made at Christmastime. The color alone told me there was far too much butter and then the taste confirmed it.

The son who lives with me uses a different strategy. He says, "I" don't use butter. No mayonaise for "Me". "I'm" trying to cut down on red meat. In his mind, I'm a bad influence!

panda22 on 02/05/2010:
Hey Kathy =) Actually my husband ended up getting off work late the day I was planning to shop, so he was nice and went for me...didn't even want to send him on a search for it...the regular stuff is hard enough for him! =P FANTASTIC news of your loss! Just shows that when you put in hard work, you get great results, keep it up! I can relate to the comment your significant other made to you about not being "fun" anymore or going out...my husband thinks the same thing. YOu are absolutely correct that it's not true! We can still go out, but just have to practice better control! I know you will do well! Can't wait to see your update =) Have a great weekend!

Today I'm very upset with life and myself. I went to have my tennis today (2nd time, I do tennis 2x week) but the weather conditions cancelled the class... Then I asked when should I compensate this class, and they said there were no compensations but there is a chance for fitness (treadmill, bicycles, etc.) instead... But I didn't stay...

I should have!!!!

Then I walked a lot, and decided that next time I will stay there, and use my one hour for fitness then... I'm a bit afraid of the machines, and I get really bored in the gym. But then again, I'm going to put energic music on my mp3 player and will listen to Scooters and Bomfunk MC's and so on, instead of the killing music they have there... Today I had Ronnie Milsap, Beatles, etc... I could sleep on the treadmill with this kind of music...

OK, so today's menu so far:

6h45 - Kellog's Nutri-Grain Strawberry morning bar (130kcal) with low-fat milk. (This bar came from the UK still, first time I tried and I liked it but I don't want to get used to these bars...)

10h00 - 1 maça / an apple

12h45 - peixe grelhado com espinafres e alho  /
grilled fish with spinach and garlic (spinach and garlic: this is a frozen stuff from the supermarket)

13h30 - pêssego (compal) / peach (54 kcal)

16h00 - 1 tangerine

18h30 - 1 tosta com creme de vegetais (60kcal) + yoghurt Svesselte

20h30 - I didn't have soup.. so I had 2 toasts with veggie cream and fresh cheese (low-fat of course) and I had some turkey ham slices in the fridge, last days so I put them on and finished them off. These, well, around 400 kcal, let's say. :-)

Progress as of today: 10.6 lbs lost so far, only 85.5 lbs to go!

legcramps on 02/04/2010:
At least you still did some walking, don't beat yourself up over this day! You're doing great and accomplishing a lot! Keep it up!

nita51 on 02/04/2010:
Don't sweat it,,, every thing will work out OK. I just love it when you feel happy, like you were the other day. I can imagine your disappointment, but every thing, happens for a reason. We may not know until much later,,,why things didn't go the way we planned, but there just may be something better in store for you. Keep your eyes on your goals and know that a (let down) is only temporary. Take Care Sis. You've been doing great, Keep on keeping on!

I love music. I'd like to dance... but that will happen later, too. Right now I don't imagine me as a dancer, with all the fat rumbling around... but one day! :-)

Today I'm happy. I wear my pink pullover with pink boots... :-D

Today's menu:

8h00 - muesli with low-fat milk

11h00 - 1 yogurt Sveltesse 0% fat/sugar pêssego/peach (the apple I brought to eat was ROTTEN  )

12h45 - bacalhau grelhado / grilled codfish with salad (cabbage and tomato, without any oil/vinagre)

15h45 - 1 tangerine, 14gr bolachas água e sal / cookies salted, 14gr, 62 kcal / pack

19h00 - still at work... I had an other low-fat yogurt Sveltesse, now blackberry flavour. 0% fat, 0% sugar...

22h30 - green bean soup (got home way too late...)

Boys and Girls, if you want a site where you can track your food and energy/fitness progress, try Fitday.com, it's perfect for that. I found SparkPeople a bit confusing.... I think Fitday ( www.fitday.com ) is still the best.

and... I marked my next visit to the Doctor... 17 February. He's very very strict and I hope he'll like my results....

Progress as of today: 10.6 lbs lost so far, only 85.5 lbs to go!

legcramps on 02/03/2010:
I'm glad you're having a good day! I use fitday too, great site.

geevee on 02/03/2010:
"with all that fat rumbling around" made me laugh as I recalled doing or trying to do yoga positions when I was at my high weight. In the shoulder stand I was totally mortified with the blob of mid-body fat, the tire, hanging down. Then there were a couple of sitting poses that were impossible to do because the fat interfered. How I had the courage to wear tights at that time just shows how determined I was, especially in classes filled with fit and trim yoga students. And there I was!

Thanks for reminding me!

Starting tennis again is an excellent idea. I think it's better than going to a gym.

panda22 on 02/03/2010:
What a great entry =) I believe you will reach your goal and be dancing LONG before then! You can do it! What is muesli, and where do you find it? Hey there, thank you for your kind understanding and suggestions. I will keep looking for things I can do without becoming bored and frustrated. There are things I would probably enjoy, but I've got to lose some before they become do-able! Like your dancing. Thanks again!

Well you go girl,,,bet you looked so pretty in your pink. Isn't it great to be a girl? :) Thanks for the tip on the website,,, I plan to check it out 2mmrrw. Hope you've been OK I had a small family problem, but everything is working out OK now. Oh, Carnie Wilson: Hollywood Celebrity, who use to weigh about 360 or more,,, she got a gastric bypass operation and lost all her weight, I mean like a skinny model, but through life's struggles, shes gain a lot of it back. I had my first tennis lesson today. In three years... Well, I don't play like I used to, and I'm in a terrible shape. Got tired so fast and my ankles are hurting. But, I feel AWESOME. :-)

I also changed my GOAL WEIGHT to

220.46 (100 kgs)

because I want to go in "small" pieces. I don't remember me as below this, so it will be a big party when I weigh ONLY this amount...!! And no doubt I WILL!

Today I don't bring food... and I'm not at my desk, not even at the usual building so I'll discover this bar around 12h40...

Today's menu:

6h45 - a half banana (meio banana) - I just couldn't eat the whole ,it was too early

9h20 - a pear

11h00 - I drank a coffee with milk, but these bars NEVER have low-fat milk and my stomach didn't like it.... / café com leite meio-gordo num bar

13h30 - OK, the lunch was funny. I asked for a small dose of grilled meat and salad, and they looked at me like "What... only?!" and then I asked how much was it, and the boss of the bar said: "Ehh, just leave it, go...."

17h00 - 1 tangerine

Progress as of today: 10.6 lbs lost so far, only 85.54 lbs to go!

Tennis - great! Keep it up. It's awesome you used to play and are taking it up again. I only walk or do Elliptical Trainer and weights which is kind of boring. I think a game would keep me more interested. Although I am not compeitive at sports at all.

wow tennis.. you go girl... Its kinda funny or sad.. both thats so many places cater to unhealthy eating.. esspecially here in the midwest where I am.. I swear it seems only safe to go to sushi bars or subway... and ya got to watch subway..Those people look at you like a freak if you dont want cheese and a ton of ranch dressing....

I love tennis too!! I was playing once or twice a week a few months ago but I got plantar flacitis. Take it slow so you don't get injured!

Have a successful day, today!

KathyBlue - Monday Feb 01, 2010
(Healthy eating (with doctor) and Exercise)
Weight: 306.0

Good morning :-)

I just couldn't resist and weighed myself today morning: 306! An other 0,9 lbs gone. How cool. :-) Yesterday I made a mistake though: I haven't drunk my 1,5l of water (it'd be mandatory!) and I haven't walked the 1 hour/day because I felt asleep in the afternoon. Well, I'll have to make it up...

NITA51: You're right, I'm also a healthy woman at the moment. I have nothing - NOW. But in my family runs everything: diabetes, cancer, etc. So I have to be very careful. And yes, this time I'm going to make it... I tried so many times before... but this time, it's different... I hope.

Today's menu:

8h00 - café com leite magro / coffee with low-fat milk

11h00 - 1 tangerine

12h45 - grilled chicken breast (1 slice) with cooked cabbage and raw paprika

16h15 - 1 yogurt Sveltesse 0% fat 0% sugar

19h30 - sopa de feijao verde / green bean soup, YUMMY

22h00 - 1 kiwi + 2 bolachas soja integrais / 1 kiwi + 2 soy whole weat cookies.

Note: these cookies has: 4 cookies have 140 kcal and I don't have other cookies. I like these, not much sugar and whole wheat. :)

Progress as of today: 10.6 lbs lost so far, only 151.7 lbs to go!

Good Morning! Good for you! I'm new on here and starting at about 201 pounds now. I was at 237 last year. Seems like you're eating really healthy. >) I am also most concerned for health reasons because vanity is pointless and no reason for doing this. It's our health that's most affected and we should feel a huge difference in energy and well being as the pounds fall off. I'm inspired and will check back to see how you're doing as I have a long way to go and can use all these entries for inspiration since my husband is forever thin and doesn't understand.
