Hope you all have been doing well today.  I baked some healthy sweet potato-raisin muffins today.  They are nutritious and low-cal.

Trying to get back to healthy snacks that are not processed foods.

nice on the muffins they sound really tasty! you could prob also had some lemon rind or orange flavor in? do you ever use any essential oils in edible / the grade for eating i mean?

do you put in egg whites? just asking bc i am ALWAYS interested in food!

Still rowing the boat.  My Mother is losing weight, by skipping  regular meals and eating candy instead.  She is almost to my weight and has lost a lot this year and last year and is very gleeful about it and I am very happy for her.  She is 86.  She is something else! 

As for yours truly, how many times this year have I tried and tried to lose weight and only to fall back into my nite-time-entertainment/comfort eating?  Oh, I'll lose a little while disciplining myself for a few days, only to put it right back on the following week.  I feel stuck.

Night time is the worst time for me. Actually I can go all day not eating and then at night catch up. That habit stopped a while back, but it's harder now I'm working out of the home. I do stay away from the pop and snack vending machines in the lunch room though. Take my snacks and meals with me.

Hi Maria, I am not so sure that your mom’s approach is the healthiest approach !? it sounds like a short term plan to lose weight but at her age, 86, I think it’s sorta “old age” and that the sweets / candy taste better to her than food???? Either way, if YOU are happy then so am I! It’s ok for you to eat at night….why don’t u just plan a late night meal on purpose and instead of thinking that it’s bad, look FORWARD TO A LATE NIGHT MEAL! Or snack!...whatever it is, plan for it. Make the food healthier by including berries or fruit with what you are eating.

If you are stuck….find something innovative to allow you to eat! But plan for it so it doesn’t undo your eating. You can even have a meal and end with fruit…eat instead of forcing yourself not to! Then you can eat and feel better but not gain weight!

If you like to late night eat, don’t make yourself stop! Just plan for it / plan a meal…plan to have an herbal tea or seltzer with it…and fruit or veggies….plan to eat so it’s more organized and less calories!

Hope you are having a good day. Every day with the Lord IS a good day. Is He your Lord and Saviour? I hope so, cause He sure is mine! If He's not your Lord and Saviour, today is the day of salvation and there is NO TIME like today to get right with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Believe on Him, repent of your sins and ask His forgiveness. It is that simple. We are living in the last days and many will wish one day that they had chosen to live for Him while they were here on earth to do so!

I'm sure your mama was so so so happy to have you come visit her. It means a lot to our older relatives, who are not able to go out as often as they please and don't have as much excitement as they used to - but she is very very blessed by your visits.

My dad always made sure to visit his mother as often as he could while he has also always been working. He did all he could for his mother. And it sounds like you do, also!

Just wanted to follow up on the low sodium: My dad cannot have more than 2000mg of sodium a day because of his liver condition, so when my daughter and I spent a day and a half with my folks, I was interested to see how their menus would be. Turns out it's not that bad, once you eliminate all of the processed foods that have sodium in them. This might be my next step in healthy eating!

Just throwing this out there, but maybe this is the weight you're supposed to be at, give or take a couple of pounds in either direct?

I wish you luck with low sodium. My dad has to have NO salt in his diet. I confess that salt is the one thing I have not been able to give up. Sugar was REALLY hard, but then I fell back upon salt. Don't even start with giving up coffee...

Well, been off the new diet for a few days...got discouraged cause was maintaining instead of getting closer to goal, even tho had stopped eating before nitetime.

 

Hubby did much better than I did on not eating after 5pm.  It was my idea to discontinue doing that.  As you can see, I've increased weight again...

Maybe not eating after 5pm isn't "your way?" ...as long as you choose a way to lose weight, and stick with your way, it'll work. Perhaps there's a better way for you Maria!....something easier to stick with! I know you'll continue to reach your goal - nice to have you back. And enjoy your day!

Still hanging in there!  I was at 165.0 five days ago on Saturday.  This program of only drinks after 5pm is really helping cause it means no nite-time food binging/snacking.

 

Where is everybody at?  GrannieAnnie, Biscottibody59, Thinside40, Greengirl, Hollybelle, Selena, Soon2bethin, Umpqua, Stellastar, and many, many others...where are you?

REALLY GOOD to know you are still hanging in there! This is the only way I know of…consistency is the only way! Yay. You are doing it lady! I am quite positive that it’s a good plan you have of only drinks after 5pm is helping. It’s good to find a method that works for you. I do have a question for you – do you wake up in the middle of the night? Or do you wake up really hungry in the AM?

I ask because if I didn’t eat after 5, only speaking for myself and I do support you!, that I tend to wake up in the middle of the night really hungry. So, I have an opposite plan of yours, and it involves eating closer to bed so that I’m able to sleep the night. My other trick that has had WONDERFUL results is that I stop caffeine in afternoon and not have it after work before gym.

I can sleep so well now at night during the week. Finally, I found a reward to drinking no caffeine after work = GREAT sleep. It took me so long to figure this one out as now at the gym I seek motivation from the music in my iphone and looking in the mirror at myself and seeing my progress. No more do I need caffeine during my during the week workouts. Yay. Sorry if too much info. :- P

I miss the “old regular” DDers also …..so very missed. They were SO valuable to this site. Do you remember Runner (something like that),WorkingIt, and there was another lady that ran a lot and got shin splints…I forget her name.

What time do you eat dinner if you do not eat after 5pm? Do you go to bed early?

I only ask because at one point - when I was much younger - I decided I would stop eating dinner. That was really, really hard.

5pm is quite early...another way is to start eating later in morning....and extend the eating window to 7pm? just a suggestion as i don't know your schedule. glad hubby is OK with it for now.
