Happy Saturday to you...

I was thinking about something earlier today...And that is that sometimes it is to easy to get overly focused on arriving at our goalweights when we really should be CELEBRATING the progress we have thus far made.  All of us have lost weight in varying amounts.  We struggle and sometimes succeed and sometimes fail, in our ongoing work to reach goalweights and some of us do succeed in achieving that, which is good, but more importantly, why not be HAPPY TODAY at the success we have made so far, from our top weights?  Celebrate today!  Be happy with where we are now.  Even tho we may not be where we think we will be happier at in our weightloss journey, we can celebrate all the sacrifices, all the struggles, all the work we have done in the past to reach the success of where we are today.

Progress as of today: 50 lbs lost so far, only 5 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 05/12/2018:
Agree completely....life goes by quickly...it's not meant to be spent unhappy. :)

Donkey on 05/12/2018:
I too agree, although it may not sound like it so much in my diary entries. I was thinking about this the last time I walked at work. At least for me, it's not so much about the numbers for me any more -- although I confess it's still so nice to be rewarded by the scale.

I hang out with another dieting group on Facebook, and this lady has almost reached her goal weight short of 5 pounds and ran a 5K. She looked fantastic and so happy in her photo. That's when I realized, I need to find something for ME to strive for beyond the numbers on the scale.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/14/2018:
I agree as well! We have all been successful and all of us i think lower than we ever weighed at our highest! I'll celebrate our diligence and commitment to our commitment to our health both inside and outside appearance-wise i feel is important too for confidence!

Thank you for reminding the group as a whole that we have a lot to be happy about!!!

I, for one, am so glad i did begin this journey because i am def a lot happier when i am working on my body and myself...it's def a big habit and hobby for me! and i enjoy the support of everyone here - it makes it so much more enjoyable to have feedback and gain ideas from others in this group!

happy-1 on 05/14/2018:
At my highest I was physically miserable and a mess. I was in a terrible relationship. I was spending tons of money trying to fix things and get out of the cycle and nothing was working. The 92 lbs I have lost isn't just weight but an entire version of myself I didn't like.

Happy Saturday to you...

You all sure do keep me encouraged to keep rowing the canoe toward goal...

Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567and I went to the flea market this morning in one town over, and then went out to eat at a buffet restaurant...I mostly had salad.  At one time, years ago, I never ate salads, didn't care fo them, but now I enjoy them a lot.

I love salads. Lately, hubby is serving salad with every meal. I know they are his "go-to" when he tries to get back on track.

Hello to you...

Hope you are having a good day...

So, MamaIndianWomanOlder.gif image by autumn1234567ate lunch with Hubby, Brother, and me over here at the house yesterday after we went and picked her up.  It was a wonderful, happy, family time for all of us and she ate very well and even had seconds.

My wonderful Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567has now retired the second time but we haven't started on my 'honey-do' list yet as I want him to get rested first as his job was very physically demanding.

Hello to you...

Hope you are having a good day...

So, Mama, at 87 years oldIndianWomanOlder.gif image by autumn1234567tells me her secret to weight loss and maintenance.  "Only eat when you are really hungry and only eat what you are really hungry for."  Works for her.  She once weighed 315 and has been holding steady for about a year now at 169.   She loves her sweets and doesn't deprive herself of what she loves to eat best.  Maybe I should do the same.  I've always been a 'try to eat right' kind of person...mostly, that is....  You know...balance of proteins, carbs, fats...you know how it goes...  But...WHO makes those rules?  I know and you know.  But how do we know they are made for our best interests and not to fatten their pockets???

My wonderful Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567has one more day to work and tomorrow afternoon when he comes home from work, he will be retired the 2nd time and home with me again.  Yayyyy!  (Honey-do list is awaiting, hahaha!)

Happy Sunday to you ...

I came here to DD in December of 2000, which was my first enty.  I weighed 155 at that time, having lost 50 pounds before I came here.  My goal was 140 at that time, which I reached and eventually regained several times over the years.  I always seem to restabilize at 155, which is my weight today.  Maybe I should just accept this weight of 155 and be satisfied.  I've had 17 years to maintain 140 goalweight that I reached shortly after I first arrived here and I have not been successful in doing that, altho, off and on, I have tried.  The reason is because in order to maintain that weight, once I get to it, I really have to be 'diligent' in disciplining myself to stay at a certain amount of daily calories, with very little straying and with very strict adherence.  As I have gotten older, I don't seem to desire being a certain goalweight more than I desire daily treats that put me over my daily maintain or lose calories, ha.  I am currently a size 12 at 155 instead of size 8 that is my size when I weigh 140.

We all must ask ourselves the question:  How important is it to reach and maintain our goalweights?  Is it more important than this piece of pie or piece of cake or these 2 large cookies or another helping of dinner?  Because we answer this question, either consciously or unconsciously, by our actions.  When we say, "I can have this food or these foods or this amount of food at the expense of not maintaining my weight or at the expense of not reaching my goalweight" we are really saying that it is not as important to reach and maintain our goalweights as it is to satisfy that very human desire we all have to EAT MORE.

bearcountrygg on 04/22/2018:
Maria...you may just need to be at 155..apparently your body likes it there...and there is nothing wrong with a size 12....that is a very common size...in fact possibly the MOST common size for women.....it's wonderful to be healthy...and it sounds like you are.....it's also one of lifes joys to enjoy food....it makes more sense to me that as long as a person is not obese...and they are healthy....that they should be able to enjoy life...and that includes eating.....if you are miserable denying yourself certain things...then what quality of life is that?

graindart on 04/22/2018:
We were heading out of town to go hiking as a family. Stopped for gas. Large signs with $0.49 fountain pop and 2 large cookies for $2. Pop and cookies, 2 things I love. Today I decided my goal was more important. Unfortunately doesn't happen every time for me.

horn_of_plenty on 04/23/2018:
idk...but i do know that 1 cookie turns to 2 and 2 turns to 3...for me! i always need lower cal alternatives.

Donkey on 04/23/2018:
I have to confess that every time I've thought about eating something not so healthy today, I've asked myself, "How important is that <insert food here> to you today?" LOL... It worked for the most part!

horn_of_plenty on 04/24/2018:

Hello ...

So...the 'new weight' has been inputted.  Not that I am happy about it.  Got sick, lost down to 153 and now back to 155.  My appetite has 'settled down some' after I've refattened to my weight I was at before I got sick, ha.  I don't feel as hungry as I did a couple days ago, tho.  The ice cream really did it with the extra calories.  Also I was eating more calories as I recovered from the head cold caused by pollen allergies, in other foods as well as eating things I had not been allowing (popcorn popped in oil).  So now I'm back to where I was...

Switch to frozen yogurt. It is cheap and at least probiotics to boost your immune system. Or do protein ice cream. Expensive but at least it doesn't make you fat. Smart Cow vanilla bean is fantastic.

Hello ...

Okay...the ice cream fit is now under control.  There is none in the house.  I don't even want any.  This is after I also finished off 3 ice cream sandwiches that were in the freezer yesterday.  I think I am back on track again.  But my weight is still up a little and coming down and I will see if I get back to 153 over the next couple days before I change it if it doesn't.

Hello ...

I just don't believe I did this...

After having an eat all I want this past weekend and deciding yesterday that I would not post any new higher weight unless it 'sticks', I allowed myself to buy one nutty buddy ice cream at a store yesterday, which fit in okay with my calories.  So far, so good.  Next read about the opposite...

This  morning, for some unknown reason, I went to the grocery store and bought a BOX of '6' nutty buddy ice creams and today I ATE THEM ALLLLLL!!!  I truly 'thought' I could actually LIMIT myself with them!  NEVER AGAIN!

I'm that way with pretty much any carb related item. Had to banish loaves of bread from the house. Because I'd eat a slice with peanut butter / jelly, then eat another, and finally stop when half the loaf was gone.....

bearcountrygg on 04/18/2018:
It's easy to do....and it's easy to be tempted to tell ourselves that it's the last time...so just one more food fling and I will be over it....and then I will eat to lose.........it's so easy...why don't we do that with celery strips...or carrot strips?

bearcountrygg on 04/18/2018:
But you know what??? I think you are one of the sweetest, kindest souls that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I know I would never know you if I saw you somewhere....but everything you write is so caring and calming to me that I think you must be a lovely person inside and out. Maybe you just needed to have a little food fit...and basically that's all it was.....maybe you needed dairy...or maybe you needed the sugar because you were feeling down for some reason...but it was all food....you didn't go out and eat something that was not edible...it's okay....you probably got that out of your system...

Donkey on 04/18/2018:
I'm with Bear, we all have our moments of insanity. Hopefully, it's out of your system for a while. :-)

Hope you are having a good day...  My weight is up a little cause had a eat all I want weekend (appetite is back) but will not change weight inputed yet unless it 'sticks'...

Today is my Mother'sIndianWomanOlder.gif image by autumn1234567bd.  She is 87!  I thank the Lord that although she has health problems, she is still mostly clear minded and she is able to navigate a little with her wheel chair, in her room at the nursing home, not totally in bed at all times.  She is on 02 off and on now but not at all times.  So much to be thankful for.

My wonderful Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567is fixing to retire the second time, at the end of next week, having gone back to work last year after retiring the year before.  We are both happy that he will be home again.

Hope you are having a good day...

Hubby and I visited my Mother IndianWomanOlder.gif image by autumn1234567at the nursing home today, which was 10 days since I had seen her. We didn't get close enough to her for her to catch anything from us and we are both some better.  We took her a big goodies bag with her very fav treats, including her fav mag, etc in it. Her bd is Monday and our kinfolks who live in TN sent her phone cards for two months' time on her phone which I put that on her phone, then I cleaned her phone and handed it back to her wrapped in paper towel.  Mama was doing good, smiling and very happy.

After we left the nursing home, Hubby and I went to the flea market in the next town over and I bought a stack of hard back books for a dollar...how-to books, etc.   Also, a dvd movie about Abraham Lincoln for 50c.  It was nice to spend some time with my wonderful Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567today, out walking around, holding hands.
