And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Merry Christmas to you...
Hoping you are each enjoying this beautiful Christmas season. Eating is going well...not denying treats but not going overboard, either. If I think I might give in to the old habit, 'nite-time snack-binging', I quickly pray a prayer and ask the Lord to help me not to eat anymore for the rest of the day and He does. This works well for me. I still have beverages, water, or juice but do not eat anymore til the next day. I am not losing any but I do not want to find any, either, ha! Sometimes we just have to find a place where we can be at ease with our accomplishments, even though this does not mean we have reached the goals we have set for ourselves at present, but this means we are going to enjoy life and be thankful for where we are at. Many of you have lost a lot more weight than I have and are sailing along on your path to your goal weight and I congratulate you on your success you have thus far acheived as well as everyone else here who has put forth an effort toward their goal weights. To lose one pound is to deny ourselves 3500 calories through lesser daily food or more physical activity or a combination of both, so it is no easy job to do! I orginally lost 50 pounds in one year in 1998, from 205 down to 155. I did not do it wisely and paid for it but I learned my lesson to not starve myself, ha.
Wishing you all a blessed Christmas!

I'm looking forward to Christmas with my little family.
like you, i have also experimenting with less than healthy ways of weightloss...maintenance is the best way, once you get there :) it's the most fun and easiest for me and on my mind!

Hello to you...
Is it cold enough for you? It is a cold, rainy day here in SC and there is snow north of us across the state line.
It is getting closer to Christmas. Do you have all of your Christmas plans made? I baked an apple pie, sweet potato pie with raisins, and peach cobbler that are in the freezer awaiting to be part of Christmas dinner and plan, Lord willing, on bringing Mama (from the nursing home) over here on Christmas day. I also baked Christmas gingerbread cupcakes with icing and colorful sprinkles...but with the neighbors' help, they are all 20 of them gone.
Still holding about the same. Would have liked to have lost a little more this year but decided I enjoy food more than being a certain size apparently, ha. So, still maintaining and thankful for that. We are more than a number. Eating well but not overeating...
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

You've done quite well for yourself to find a "happy place" on the scale this year. Looking at your "Progess as of today" above, I might contemplate whether those last "5 lbs to go!" are worth the struggle. Well, 2019 still needs goals :)
yes, it's downright cold here too. In the 30's and that's unseasonably cold for NYC.
your pies all sound amazing. I've been enjoying baking on weekends & plan to continue with the baking fun. my recipes turn all sugared baking ideas into sugar free baked goods. yum. and they taste just the same!
aren't you glad you aren't overeating much or at all anymore? me too...i've gotten so good at maintenance!..and it's good to be able to enjoy more food!

Good evening...
Is it cold enough for you? It is even chilly here in SC, but nice.
Scale at 154 when I weighed today.
I may not post every day but most days I come here and read your posts. You are all doing FANTASTIC!
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving - there is much to be grateful for...
I would agree that all the DDers at this time have gotten darn good at maintenance....we are all learning so much!

Hello, Friends...
...................................
Hubby and I had a lunch party here at the house yesterday and we invited some of our family, including Mom,
who we brought here and we all had a wonderful time.
..................................
Scale is still at 154 today, which is good but I was expecting it to be 153, ha. To think about it, each pound we lose toward our goal is 3500 calories we are not 'wearing'... and for those who are maintaining, think about you are holding off x number of pounds (that you have lost), which is actually that number times 3500 calories and that amount of calories are no longer 'hanging around'...ha! Helps one to keep in perspective how each little calorie we resist counts!
........................................
Evening Update: Another thought...
Imagine wearing padded clothes everyday, be it summer or winter and constantly wearing them inside and outside, wherever you are, always wearing them... Imagine not only the larger size they would make you appear to be physically, but also imagine how warm or how cool you would feel constantly wearing them...like having on a bulky jacket or coat you never take off... This is what being overweight is. One never gets to actually enjoy being the size one is more comfortable being because the unwanted added weight is not just a number on a scale...it is not just a higher number that we are seeking to lower just so we know we are weighing what we want to weigh.... No, the added weight of being overweight is a continual reminder of how much more comfortable we could be if we only realize this and take action to get rid of it (the added bulk we constantly wear when we are overweight).

Hope you are having a blessed day in the Lord.

Hello, Friends...
Glad to read that you are all doing well.
We are finally getting some much-desired, cooler fall weather after the passing of our second big storm this season, Hurricane Michael, which we stayed home this go round, didn't evacuate as in Hurricane Florence recently. My Hubby's storage building is destroyed and we have a little exterior home-damage, but nothing serious, thank the Lord. Thanking the Lord for keeping us safe through the storm.

I *am* sorry to hear that you suffered some property loss. Will you rebuild the storage building?
I hope you a fast recovery and glad that for the most part you guys are safe and uninjured.

Hello, Friends...
Scale read 154.0 this morning...yayyyyy.
I have a new hobby. We are raising chickens from biddies and just finished a 2 week project of building a large chicken house. We are raising them for fresh eggs altho they won't start laying until late winter/early spring of next year and we have 8 lovely ladies. It is much more work than I ever imagined, ha.

Hello, Friends...

Hubby and I visited Mom
at the nursing home today and took her some new tops bought at J C Penneys to wear, which she liked, and also we took her favorite snacks to her as well. She is doing well for her 87 years, thank the Lord. We visit her frequently each week and enjoy her company and love her very, very much. She is a Sweetheart.

Scale is at 155 this morning (finally!). This is what I weighed when I joined DD almost 18 years ago.
Hubby bought a pumpkin for me at our local farmers market this afternoon. It looks so 'Octobery' on the front porch, so glad that fall has finally arrived!

Thank you. Happy New Year!

Saw yours, so decided to go check my BMI number.....24.7....just within the "normal" range per the calculator website I used.
Good job maintaining over the past year.
Thank you. Congratulations to you. You have done fantastic!
Donkey on 01/01/2019:
Happy New Year, Maria! You did quite well for yourself this holiday season and for 2018. I just noticed that you're so close to 50 pounds gone. In fact, when you're at your usual maintenance of 155, that's 50 pounds. (I'm seriously thinking there's a little salt action going on with the extra pound or so.) WELL DONE!
Thank you. Yes, definitely some salt action been going on. But I went ahead and put in the number the scale read anyway, ha. Happy New Year to you, too and congrats on your maintenance which has been remarkable!
Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2019:
Happy New Year to you too! I think lately we've had the best batch of DD'ers i've noticed in years on here. everyone seems to get where they want to be and more are working at maintenance than restriction. in the past, lots of DDers were restricting and like a lot of self negative talking and overeating...seems we are a more experienced bunch right now.
