Perhaps your gardening and lifestyle has made the scale happy too :)

Congrats on your scale and also on staying positive and maintaining really well.

I have always found it easier to weigh less in summer because i am usually a little more active than in the wintertime.

Hello to you all.

Scale reported 157 this morning.

nativeamericanwomanandcanoeanimgif.gif image by autumn1234567

The flowers are still blooming outside, even though we have been having high temperatures of heat indexes over 100.  Roses, petunias, day lilies are all still doing well...Lantanas haven't done so well this year.  The apple trees have apples on them, almost ready to harvest.  The peach trees didn't make peaches this year.  Maybe frost got them, I think.  The plum tree only had a few plums.  But our crepe myrtle trees have really done well this year with very beautiful blooms...The one in the back yard has done the best it ever has this year, loaded with bright pink blooms and the one in the front yard is blooming purple blooms.  Not so many grapes on the grapevine, though.  Different plants like different temperatures and different amounts of moisture...

We all have so much to be thankful to the Lord for.   We just need to keep focusing on the positives and not on the negatives.  Hoping you are having a good day.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/14/2019:
i love that you wrote we need to focus on the positives and not on the negatives. I have been doing that and it feels really nice. really nice even if there's a challenge, to get thru it without crying over it. it's nice not to stress every negative !

next, how nice to eat the fresh fruit from your garden! how are the chickens ?

Donkey on 07/14/2019:
I love to read about your garden. Do you eat your harvests?

I am quite pleased with my milkweed garden. I have several bee friends and 2 very large monarch butterfly friends now. We had a caterpillar friend, who started out so small and got much bigger - but not fully BIG. We're having problems locating him, so maybe a bird got him?

Anyway, I find that my accidental garden brings me much joy and peace of mind. I have seeds for cone flowers (echinacea -- I read somewhere that bees and butterflies love this) and of course, I'll have more milkweed seeds once the pods form --- these I will plant in the dirt in the fall, to help fill out the garden area more.

Happy Independance Day to you all.  Hope you are all doing well.  Today we celebrate the birth of a nation with the signing of the Declaration of Independance in 1776.  A nation built 'under GOD'...as 'In God We Trust'...A nation that is now in need of a lot of prayer with everything that has been going on in our country these days.  When I was a little girl, we did 2 things at the beginning of every school day...first, we stood and recited The Lord's Prayer together...second, while still standing we recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country, the USA flag being on a pole in our classroom.  We said yes Ma'am and no Ma'am to women and yes Sir and no Sir to men, repectfully.  There was no such thing as shootings such as we hear about nowadays frequently, and we slept safely in our beds in our homes with the doors unlocked.  America has come a long way from where she began...Is she still the same country she once was?

2 Chronicles 7:14 in the Bible tells us:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

My childhood was just the same as your's Maria........You know....that as a child my husband carried matches because it was his job to burn the trash at home...and he never burned anything or anyone else....they were even in his pocket at school...he also carried a pocket knife to whittle small pieces of wood......and he never cut anyone...this was also in his pocket at school....and when we went to high school...there were actually hunting rifles in the back windows of trucks because some kids hunted....yet...no one was ever shot at school...we had limits that we knew well. We took responsibility for ourselves and our behavior. We grew up in a wonderful time....today I fear for the kids.....we still live in a wonderful country....but the people have changed for the worse.........there is no direction or self discipline, no personal responsibility.....everything is everyone elses fault.....we are lucky....todays kids not so much....I hear you loud and clear.....we loved our lives, we knew what consequences were, we were taught to respect and honor our god, our parents and our teachers...and our country. We knew who ran things and it wasn't us and as kids, we respected that. Lucky for us that we still hold those beliefs...too many today don't....but....today...those that don't will just have to live in the chaos that is now the American life....it is apparently what they want....yet they will be the ones crying the loudest when they realize what they have created......but our generation will be gone and no one will listen to them...or understand. I'm very thankful to have been born when I was.....and i still think America is the best possible place to be......and I'm sad for what it has become.

Horn_of_plenty on 07/05/2019:
It's true. This country and the world is ever-changing. sometimes it takes years for a person to realize it. there are always challenges we face, and decisions leaders make, and then the consquences that follow. like you, i can only wish more positivity and good for our country and for the world!

Donkey on 07/06/2019:
There just seems to be so much hate in our nation right now - and in the world, overall.

Hello to you all.

A little along and along...mindful of calories...telling myself that I don't have to eat the 'whole thing'....sometimes half a cupcake is just as good and filling as a whole one...and half the calories...I don't have to finish everything I start to eat if I am full enough...I don't like to waste anything, especially food...but to eat all of something because that is the current serving size (a lot of food items were much smaller serving sizes many years ago) is not always best.

i also have a hard time not "finishing food." one thing that's good is that you can put even half a cupcake back into the fridge. your entry was a good reminder to me that i can do these same things as you - save for later. my friend, a guy, who is good at maintaining his weight does this all the time - he eats only tastes of his desserts and stores them in the fridge always for later.

also, you wrote that you'd think you'd learned how to maintain weight on your comment back to me in previous entry, but, the truth is you do quite well at maintenance! weight is always variable, never will stay exactly the same all the time!

My birthday is July 28...I also had an epiphany over portion sizes this weekend too. Great job.

Finishing food--- HUGE issue for me. It's difficult... or it can be.

It's funny how we so often don't even coonsider not eating the whole thing.......good job just eating part.

Hello, Friends.

Asking for your prayers for my very dear, sweet Aunt.  Hubby and I just got back from visiting her.  She was sleeping.

She is Mom's only Sister.Auntanimgif.gif image by autumn1234567 She is in a hospice care place.  She had a stroke last week.  She has always been an outstanding, very good, sweet, loving Aunt.  One that could be depended on for help when anyone needed help.  A wonderful Christian.  She is almost 91 (next month), almost 3 years older than Mom.  This is a very sad time.  We all love her very much.

Hello to you all.

Scale pleasantly reported 157 again this morning.  Still happy.  Think I will change my goal weight to 157, makes more sense instead of always feeling like I am 'not there' at goal weight.  Altho I am a little heavier than I think I prefer, maybe this is better.  Just be happy and thankful to be this size and not the much heavier size I once was almost 50 pounds ago, ha.  My orignial goal weight when I was at my heaviest of 205 many years ago was to weigh between 150 and 160, anyway.  Why shall we be so hard on ourselves, trying to obtain inobtainable perfection?  The only One Who is perfect is Jesus.

nativeamericanwomanandcanoeanimgif.gif image by autumn1234567

My favorite flowers, orange tiger daylilies are now blooming in the front and in the back yards.  So beautiful.  Also this morning, when walking in the yard, I noticed that our gardenia bushes are blooming.  They smell so wonderfully sweet!  The rose bushes are blooming, pink ones, red ones, yellow ones and orange ones.  The petunias are blooming, red ones and pink with white stripes ones.  Lantanas are blooming...yellow ones so far and waiting on the purple ones and the orange ones.  I have been working a lot in the yards, trimming bushes mainly.

We all have so much to be thankful to the Lord for, if we only focus on the positives and not the negatives.  Hoping you are having a good day.

BearCountryGG on 05/23/2019:
Your flowers sound amazing.....talk about relaxing.....!!!! If you are staying at 157 then that is where your body is happy.....and it falls right into your original goal......PERFECT!!!

horn_of_plenty on 05/23/2019:
Totally agree on the goal weight thing. I also changed my chart here to reflect my "real" morning size weight that i seem to settle around, 115lbs on my short stature lol.

I love walking by homes that have flowers blooming, it sure smells wonderful!!!!! must look pretty too!
