Colder here this morning too. After the past few weeks of above-freezing mildness, 15 degrees this morning felt bitter cold. Supposed to get snow over the next few days. The change in weather unfortunately just puts me more into my hibernation state of mind......

Pork ribs and salad here today. Have been eating a much larger amount of squash these past few months. Probably have eaten more squash over the past 2 years than the rest of my life combined.

Thank you and squash is loaded with vitamins and minerals as well as low carb and low calories, as you know. Good to snack on, too.

I've mainly gravitated towards the squash due to the larger bulk weight amount you get for the lower number of calories. Despised squash when I was young. Learned to tolerate it with enough butter / spices in my younger adult years. Now don't mind it with just some spices / salt.

Good morning to you.

  Another cold January morning here, although not quite as cold as yesterday (34F this morning).  Smile! 

Hubby LargeManWaving.gif image by autumn1234567is home today and so I cooked a big breakfast, which I have not been having...grits, eggs, sausage, and toast.  So I have already tallied up more calories at this time (9 a.m.) than I usually do.  But it is worth it.  We enjoyed having a nice breakfast together.  Happy he is home today. 

 Scale weighed me at 154 again this morning.  Calories were about 1600 yesterday...Happy to see that I didn't gain because I ate a lot of food for that amount of calories.

Hamburger stew with veggies 425c, ...water 0...

Total 1550c for day.  Thank you, Lord, for our food.

Over the years, I too adjusted my/our eating schedule to coincide with my husband's ability to participate. When he worked 2nd shift for the railroad, our main meal would be at lunchtime, so that we could have dinner together. Then I'd make a light supper (more like a lunch) for just me and the kids (who were toddlers at the time). Over the years, this has changed.

In fact, we are changing what we're having for dinner tonight because the daughter will be home (instead of working). I've always been quite adamant that Dinner - whether at noon or at night - is a family thing. Whoever is home, we're eating together at the table.

1 boiled egg 80c, water 0c, small piece of pineapple cake 250c (770c as of 12:30 p.m.)

 Scale weighed me at 155 again this morning.  Calories were lower than 1200 yesterday...I simply was not very hungry.  I am going to aim to have more than that today as I don't want to not have enough calories, even if I am not feeling very hungry, so I ate breakfast very early this morning (though still not hungry at all) to get a jumpstart on eating more, aiming for 1300 to 1400 cals at least, per day.

Today's Food Plan So Far: 

2 coffees w creamer and sugar 50c, most of a toasted chicken salad s/w and 1/2 banana 300c and one bottle of water 0. (350c so far as of 7:30 a.m.)

1/2 banana 50, water 0, small amount boiled cubed steak 100c, potato salad w gravy 150c, green peas 50, diet coke 0 .  (700c as of 11:50 a.m.) 

Small piece of coconut-pecan cake, 400c.  It was not 'all-that' that I had anticipated it would be...guess I've lost my sweets cravings, ha.  (1100c as of as of 12:30 p.m.) 

Plan, Lord willing to not go over 1700c (my maintain calories limit) today, since I had a very low calories day yesterday.  Don't think I will have a problem with this today because I am still 'under-hungry'....

I was thinking...that when I have my mind on something to occupy it that I am excited about, say a hobby that is going very well for example, or simply enjoying a stroll outside among beautiful nature, I seem to not be in tune with hunger signals because I am distracted.  I think this is an answer to overeating.  To keep my mind on something very enjoyable that has nothing to do with eating.  As long as there is distraction, there is no compulsion for me to overeat.  Food loses its excessive desirability.  And I have found that for me, praying not to eat anymore for the day after I eat the amount of calories I allow each day, WORKS.  And...to lose that feeling of nite-time food binge craving, I am simply going to bed earlier and reading or watching tv until I fall asleep.  Sometimes I might desire to have a treat during that time but I know that one treat can quickly lead to another and another.  So, I simply do not give in.  So far, this is working for me.  I hope it continues.  Just wanted to share with you all and wish you a happy day.  .

Blue jays have been on the back deck this morning, eating what the cats left of their dry food.  I am SO EXCITED to see them!  They are my favorite birds.  I quickly put some birdseed out for them when I saw them.  They migrate in the winter, so may as well enjoy them while they are here.  We used to have a big family of them years ago living in the oak trees here, but when they migrated for the winter one year, the mockingbirds, who do not migrate for the winter, came and took over their feeders and trees and when the bluejays came back from the winter to resume hanging out at their warmer weather home here, the mockingbirds, who had 'toughed it out' during the winter here, ran them all off (there were many fights) and so for years all we've been having has been the mockingbirds.  I must say that the mockingbirds do have pretty songs, though, and sing a different pretty tune right behind another.

Thank you very much. And you will get 'settled down' into your maintenance but it will require a lot of 'train off the track, train back on' so to speak. It is a learning experience. It is true that maintenance is just as difficult as losing weight. I've lost and regained a few times but never back up to my highest weight. When I restrict my diet too much, I then get hard to resist food cravings, especially for unwholesome foods. You have done fantastic and maybe you are adjusting to a certain amount of calories that you can be comfortable with and not feel deprived and hold within 5 to 10 pounds of a steady maintenance weight that is good for you. Just sayin'...

I love your idea of keeping busy with a hobby to take your mind off of food. Knitting does this for me, when I need it, especially on the weekend, when my time is not so defined by schedule.

Yes, steady for real...sometimes old habits are hard to break...but I am finding that praying to not eat anymore for the day after I have consumed the amount of calories I have planned for the day, eliminates nite-time snacking.
